Three-time Grammy® Award-winning and multi-platinum selling recording artist Pentatonix will be hitting the UK next month to play Manchester O2 Apollo and two shows at London Eventim Apollo as part of a worldwide tour.  The majority of the dates on the tour are sold out, with limited tickets available for the 04 May London show.

As one of the most innovative, inventive, and inimitable vocal groups of all time, Pentatonix reimagine,

reinvigorate, and redefine a cappella. Since emerging in 2011, the three-time GRAMMY® Award-winning

and Daytime EMMY® Award-nominated vocal quintet—Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado,

Kevin Olusola, and Matt Sallee—have reached unprecedented heights, toppling charts, selling 10 million

albums worldwide, generating billions of streams, and performing everywhere from The White House to The Hollywood Bowl.

Their catalog boasts back-to-back #1 albums on the Billboard 200, namely the gold-certified Pentatonix [2015] and platinum-certified A Pentatonix Christmas [2016]. Internationally, these albums performed equally as well with five albums being certified gold, platinum, or double platinum in Canada and ranking in the top 40 albums six times in New Zealand. Their single, “Hallelujah” also reached international acclaim as a platinum-certified single in Canada and gold-certified in Germany and Switzerland.

They notably made history as “the first a cappella act to win ‘Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella’ at the GRAMMY® Awards” in 2015 and 2016. A year later, they earned another GRAMMY® Award in the category “Best Country Duo/Group Performance” for their duet with Dolly Parton on her song “Jolene.” Plus, they have collaborated with Kelly Clarkson and Miley Cyrus to name a few. Beyond standout awards shows and US late-night television appearances, Pentatonix leapt onto the big screen with a cameo in the blockbuster Pitch Perfect 2.

Following 2021’s Evergreen, which tallied over 100 million streams, they launched one of their biggest tours to date, Pentatonix: The Evergreen Christmas Tour. In 2023, the group received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and embarked on a major US tour over the Holiday season. Pentatonix’s World Tour kicked off in March in Asia, Australia and New Zealand and continues across Europe and the US later this year.

Pentatonix Tour 2023: How to Get Tickets + Complete North American Tour Dates, Special Guest

Pentatonix

Pentatonix has recently marked a big milestone in their careers as they got their Hollywood Walk of Fame star in Los Angeles, California, making them one of the legendary music acts in the industry. To give back to their fans, the acapella band will be touring across North America later this year; find out below if they're visiting a city near you!

According to The Music Universe , the upcoming tour will begin on August 9, 2023, at Daily's Place in Jacksonville, Florida, before heading to different cities across the United States and Canada like Dallas, Toronto, The Woodlands, Maryland Heights, and many more.

Produced by Live Nation, the acapella group will be accompanied by their special guest, Lauren Alaina, across 24 tour dates.

A post shared by instagram

For fans who wanted to see the band perform live, the presale of tickets will start on Thursday, February 23, while the general public can access passes beginning on February 27 at 10 a.m local via Ticketmaster .

The tour was announced amid their Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony as they finally received their star along Hollywood Boulevard more than ten years after launching online.

Pentatonix Gets Their Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

Pentatonix began uploading their cover songs on YouTube and one of their biggest hits was Nicki Minaj's "Starships." Today, the band—Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Matt Sallee, and Kevin Olusola—is taking the world by storm as they have their own original music, tour, and more.

They made history in 2015 by being the first acapella group ever to win a Grammy for their work on a medley of Daft Punk songs. The following year, they snagged another award for their Dolly Parton-duet track "Jolene."

According to Variety , the band has already sold millions of albums from their 11 full-length records and was able to top the Billboard 200 charts twice.

The band originally had Avi Kaplan as their bass, but unfortunately, he had to leave the group in 2017 after their scheduled tour. The reason for his departure was because of a demanding schedule that hinders him to spend more time with his family.

Despite leaving Pentatonix, Kaplan was grateful for all the success the band has accomplished through the years he spent with them, saying, "All of the things that we've accomplished, all the music that we've made and the people that we've touched with that music - it far surpasses anything that I could have ever dreamed for my life." Co-op Live arena

Olivia Rodrigo gigs called off as chaos continues at Manchester’s Co-op Live

Postponements come hours after queueing fans were turned away from A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie gig on Wednesday evening

The troubled Co-op Live arena has postponed Olivia Rodrigo’s concerts as part of her Guts world tour because of a “technical issue”, hours after the last-minute cancellation of its opening concert for the third time.

Two hours after announcing that A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie would no longer be performing, the venue confirmed that Rodrigo’s concerts on 3 and 4 May had also been cancelled.

Wednesday’s show was supposed to be the first official event at the 23,500-capacity Manchester venue, after several were cancelled or postponed in the past two weeks.

The venue said there was a problem during the soundcheck, with a component of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system found to be defective.

The arena wrote on X: “Due to an ongoing venue-related technical issue, the scheduled performances of Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts world tour on May 3 and 4 are being postponed. Ticket-holders can either hold on to their tickets or obtain a refund at point of purchase.”

The Grammy award winner Rodrigo is expected to perform in Glasgow, Birmingham and London between 7 and 18 May.

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie confirmed that “something happened” during his soundcheck that meant his show had to be cancelled. “I’m heated about the situation too, but safety first. Manchester, I got you, just stay tuned for further info,” he said on X.

His performance was cancelled at 6.40pm, 10 minutes after doors were supposed to open at 6.30pm. Fans were queuing outside the venue.

It is the latest in a series of problems for the venue. Rick Astley performed as a surprise guest to about 11,000 arena workers, VIPs and press for the free test event on 20 April, but as many as 4,000 tickets were cancelled , some just an hour before the show, leaving ticket-holders furious.

The venue said this was because of “testing critical procedures”, which meant it had to reduce the capacity for the event.

The venue apologised, and told ticket-holders they could attend a gig by the US rock duo the Black Keys a week later instead. The venue then had to postpone that gig until 15 May.

The arena also postponed two gigs by the comedian Peter Kay, who is now due to appear on 23 and 24 May.

Gary Roden quit as general manager of the arena last week over delays to its opening the venue, and after being criticised for saying some small music venues were “poorly run”.

The venue is part of the Oak View Group. Tim Leiweke, its chair and chief executive, said: “The safety and security of all visiting and working on Co-op Live is our utmost priority, and we could not and will not run any event until it is absolutely safe to do so.

“Today was a very unexpected situation but without a doubt the right decision. I deeply apologise for the impact that this has had on ticket-holders and fans.”

The Co-operative Group said it was disappointed by the announcement and would seek a “full explanation” from Oak View.

“As the naming rights sponsor for Co-op Live, we are shocked at the incident which has led to late cancellation of tonight’s show at the arena,” a Co-op Group spokesperson said.

“We are relieved that no one has been injured, but we share the disappointment and frustration of ticket-holders, many of whom are Co-op members, with the continuing delay to the opening of Co-op Live and the disruption that this is causing to everyone who has been looking forward to attending events.

“We will be seeking a full explanation from Oak View Group, who are responsible for the building, to the obvious questions arising from this, together with a clear plan from the Co-op Live venue management team at OVG for opening the venue and postponed and future events.

“Safety is, of course, the number one priority and it is critical that Co-op members and other ticket-holders can enjoy events in a venue with the very highest levels of security and safety measures in place.”

Situated on the Etihad Campus next to the Manchester City football ground, the £365m venue is scheduled to host Take That, the Killers, Eric Clapton and Barry Manilow in the coming weeks, and there are plans to hold the MTV Europe music awards there in November.

Manchester's Co-op Live announces Travis Scott gig amid ongoing opening crisis

pentatonix uk tour postponed

The troubled Co-op Live has announced the latest artist due to perform at the arena despite ongoing issues which have seen the venue postpone its opening multiple times.

The Manchester-based arena, which will become the largest in the UK when it finally opens its doors - seating 23,500 people, revealed American rapper Travis Scott, will be performing in just eight weeks time.

It comes after the venue was forced to postpone its opening three times following technical problems, which saw one gig cancelled as fans queued outside.

Many bands who were due to perform have moved to the rival AO Arena including Take That, who have rescheduled five tour dates .

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, also moved his gig after his Co-op Live show was postponed just over an hour before the rapper was set to perform after part of an air conditioning unit falling from a ceiling .

On 2 May, the venue provided an update after it postponed a number of gigs and said it would be taking "a short pause to events at Co-op Live to fully ensure the safety and security of fans and artists visiting the venue".

Bosses have assured music fans the venue will open on 14 May , and on its social media, announced the latest act to sign-up for the venue.

It wrote: "Just announced: @trvisXX

"Travis Scott’s Utopia – Circus Maximus Tour is set to continue this summer with a headline performance here at Co-op Live on 13 July 2024."

Tim Leiweke, Chairman and Chief Executive of US-based venue operator Oak View Group, apologised for the delays and to “all those that have been affected”.

He said: “As many of you will know, it’s not been the smooth start we had planned for, and I know that has caused a huge amount of disruption and frustration to thousands of people.”

“The team here is working incredibly hard to get the building up and running, and we look forward to welcoming you to the arena from 14 May 2024″, he added.

British rock band Elbow are the next artists scheduled to perform at the indoor arena and they will be the venue’s opening act if the performance goes ahead as planned.

The issues began following a test event in April which led to Co-op Live announcing it would have to reschedule dates for Peter Kay’s stand-up show.

Kay, who was meant to be the “first artist in the world to perform at Manchester Co-op Live”, according to promotional posters, had his shows moved to 29 and 30 April before they moved again to 23 and 24 May , as the venue was still not ready to open.

Co-op Live also announced it would move The Black Keys gig to 15 May and said it had been “undertaking an extensive protocol of testing critical procedures to ensure all areas are ready for fans”.

Olivia Rodrigo’s 3 and 4 May dates were postponed and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s 1 May performance took place on 4 May after it was moved to the AO Arena.

On 2 May, a Keane gig scheduled for 5 May was postponed while Take That’s slew of concerts were moved to the AO Arena.

The Eagles, Nicki Minaj, Pet Shop Boys, Stevie Nicks and Eric Clapton are all due to play the arena, but so far only a test event by Rick Astley has gone ahead.

The arena’s general manager, Gary Roden, announced his resignation in April following the slew of issues that led to the delays in the venue opening.

A Co-op Group spokesperson previously said: “Co-op is a sponsor and does not own or run the venue, and we have made it clear to Oak View Group, who are responsible for the building, that the impact on ticketholders must be addressed as a priority.

“We are pleased that they will shortly be putting plans in place to do so.”

They added that safety checks would be independently verified so Co-op members and other ticket holders “can be reassured that the venue has the very highest levels of security and safety measures”.

In 2021, American rapper Scott, 33, performed at the Astroworld music festival in Houston, Texas which saw 10 people die after fans surged towards the stage.

The artist has just announced a European tour which includes a date in London scheduled for 11 July, alongside the Manchester gig.

Olivia Rodrigo Speaks Out After Co-Op Live Shows Are Postponed Due To 'Technical Issues'

Olivia Rodrigo has voiced her disappointment that her upcoming shows at Manchester’s Co-Op Live Arena have had to be postponed at the last minute.

The US star is the latest act to be affected by the brand new venue’s ongoing issues which have prevented it from officially opening.

The 23,500 capacity venue – which will be UK’s biggest indoor arena once it’s finally open to the public – postponed its opening for the third time on Wednesday night, due to a “venue-related technical issue” , just an hour before A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie was due to perform.

Olivia had been scheduled to bring her Guts tour to Manchester on the following two nights (3 and 4 May), but these shows will now not be going ahead as planned.

“Due to an on-going venue-related technical issue, the scheduled performances of Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts World Tour on 3 and 4 May are being postponed,” shared the venue on X.

They added: “ We deeply apologise for the significant inconvenience this will cause for many.”

Olivia has since reacted to the news of the disruption to her UK and European tour, which is taking place across the whole of May.

“I’ve been having such a great time in Europe so far and I’m sooooo disappointed that we’re unable to perform in Manchester due to on-going venue-related technical issues,” the three-time Grammy winner wrote on her Instagram story on Wednesday night.

“We’re doing our best to reschedule the show. you can hold onto your tickets for further info or request a refund at your point of purchase.”

She added: “More info will be sent directly to ticket holders. I’m so bummed and I really hope to see you all soon.”

A venue spokesperson told the Manchester Evening News that the technical issue related to an item – believed to be from an air conditioning unit – fell inside the arena during soundcheck. Thankfully, nobody was hurt in the incident.

One person working at the venue told the newspaper that he witnessed what looked like a “steel bar fall from the ceiling into the bowl”.

These latest delays come after opening performances from Peter Kay and further gigs from The Black Keys were already pushed back.

The comedian was due to open with performances on 23 and 24 April (which have now been moved to 23 and 24 May) while the American rock duo were scheduled to play the arena on 27 April (now rescheduled to 15 May).

Just last week, new arena boss Gary Roden resigned amid the various controversies plaguing the planned opening, including his controversial comments that smaller venues are “poorly run” .

Tim Leiweke, chairman and CEO of Oak View Group which helped develop the new venue, said in a statement that they “deeply apologise” for the impact the ongoing delays have had on fans.

Olivia, meanwhile, will be performing dates in Glasgow, Birmingham and London this month.
