The World of Wonders season has come to Pokémon Go. You can now catch Wiglett and, if you don't have one already, Diancie through the Glitz and Glam quest. There's also the Rediscover Kanto and World of Wonders quests to complete! Don't forget to try out Routes , Gift Exchange and Party Play while you're hunting down rare Pokémon , fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases .
The best choice to make on the choose path option in the Chasing Legends quest is all about personal preference, but you should also consider the best way to complete your Pokédex.
Whatever choice you make between Cacnea, Gulpin, or Surskit determines which of these three Pokémon will be attracted more by Incense, and which one you get for completing Step 2 tasks of Chasing Legends.
So, if you need any of these three to fill your Pokédex, or you need their candy to evolve them, then we suggest picking that Pokémon's path. If your Gen 3 Pokédex is complete, however, then it all comes down to what your personal preference is!
Here are some tips which will help you complete the Chasing Legends quest in Pokémon Go:
- Complete Chasing Legends during the Go Tour: Hoenn event - This may seem like an obvious tip, but if you leave the research to complete at another time, you're probably going to struggle in catching the Gulpin, Surskit, and Cacnea needed to progress pass Step 2 in the future, and getting the Groudon and Kyogre needed for other steps.
- Use Incense and Lure Modules - These will increase the Pokémon spawns around you, letting you complete the tasks quicker.
- Prepare a team against Go Rocket leaders - If you're waiting for spawns, it's best to have a team with the best counters for each GO Rocket Leader ready to go for when you reach that step, if you don't already have them set up.
- Go to an area with lots of Poké Stops and Gyms - This will make completing every step of your Chasing Legends research a lot easier to complete, especially if you're playing during the Go Tour: Hoenn event. There will also be lots of Raids happening in Gyms that can get you a quicker Groudon or Kyogre catch if you team up with other trainers.
The Chasing Legends was released as part of the Go Tour: Hoenn Global event in Pokémon Go during February 2023. Unlike Masterwork Research: Wish Granted , this quest is available for free for every player.
To unlock this quest, you need to complete the Primal Rumblings Special Research quest, then play Pokémon Go during the event itself, which is running between 10am to 6pm on Saturday, 25th February and Sunday, 26th February .
Completing Primal Rumblings is required because of the team choice you make - Ruby or Sapphire - which affects some of the rewards you receive while progressing through Chasing Legends.
Since Chasing Legends is a special research quest, it has no deadline which means you complete it whenever you like. It is also structured like a regular research quest - challenging you to complete a set of tasks and collect a number of rewards before you move onto the next step.
Hope you enjoy the Chasing Legends quest in Pokémon Go!

There are going to be three codes you need to redeem. You can redeem so long as you have a Pokémon Go account, and you can immediately access the Niantic redemption website . They should work regardless if you have the Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn ticket or not. Each reward will give you an encounter with a Registeel, Regirock, and Regice, celebrating their appearance in the Hoenn region.

Go Tour Hoenn, Chasing Legends Research Line: Surskit, Cacnea, or Gulpin?
Go Tour: Hoenn is here , and while we've already covered how to catch Shiny Jirachi (at least as far as we know given the time-gate on that quest-line), many more people are probably looking at the Chasing Legends research line even now, wondering not only what this research line has to offer, but what path to pick at Step 2.
For those who haven't been working on this research, Step 2 is a branching path where players can choose Surskit, Cacnea, or Gulpin. And when it comes to any situation where we're given a choice, it can be a little daunting as we don't always know what the far-reaching implications are. if you pick one of the three paths, will you miss out on some big reward that was waiting at the end of another? Well, to help put your mind at ease, we've compiled the full research line, including the three branching paths:
Event Research
Branching step 2: choose surskit, branching step 2: choose gulpin, branching step 2: choose cacnea.
As should be obvious from the above, the choice is actually pretty inconsequential. Each of the three branching paths re-merge into the same line at Step 3, and the only difference is which Pokemon you're catching/required to catch at Step 2. And since Swalot , Masquerain , and Cacturne aren't exactly high-priority Pokemon, this choice has no real consequences regardless of which branch you may pick. So pick whichever of the three you prefer, but definitely get this line completed by the end of the event! 200 Primal energy for both Groudon and Kyogre is huge, and literally takes care of half of the required energy to unlock these ancient beasts!
So how far have you gotten in this research, and what are your best catches so far? Let us know in the comments so that we can all compare our trophies for the day!

All A Coded Quest secret codes for Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn
There is no Hoenn experience that would be complete without players needing to use their creativity to hunt down encounters with Regice, Regirock, and Registeel. As part of Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn – Las Vegas, this takes the form of players needing to collect secret codes to earn those encounters through a Coded Quest.
This is something that is available for all players attending Go Tour: Hoenn – Las Vegas in Sunset Park from Feb. 18 to 19, and Niantic is bringing this content to players around the world too.
For anyone hoping to encounter Regice, Regirock, and Registeel outside of this content, they do frequently rotate through five-star raids. However, this specific method for catching Gen III’s Legendary Golems is part of the Go Tour: Hoenn festivities and will likely have some unique elements tied to it for anyone who participates.

“Rediscover Kanto” is a Special Research quest in Pokémon Go which sees players revisit the first generation of Pokémon.
As well as the Special Research, there is a time limited event of the same name running April 22 to May 9, 2024 . This offers spawns of Pokémon from the Kanto region in the wild, bonus XP for completing certain activities, and boosted Friendship level increases.
The event celebrates an April 2024 visual and biome refresh in Pokémon Go , and as part of that, discovering starters Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle in their respective biomes increases their chances of being shiny.
Finally, as Pokémon Go wasn’t busy enough, the opening week of “Rediscover Kanto” coincides with 2024’s “ Sustainability Week ” event.
‘Rediscover Kanto’ Special Research quest steps and rewards
All players who log in April 22 to May 9, 2024 will receive the following Special Research for free.
Once acquired, “Rediscover Kanto” Special Research does not expire — meaning there is no need to rush through all the following quest steps.
Step 1 of 5
- Use 5 Berries to help catch Pokémon (Bulbasaur encounter)
- Feed your Buddy 5 times (Charmander encounter)
- Catch 20 Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region (Squirtle encounter)
Rewards: 5,000 XP, 2,500 Stardust , 1 Lucky Egg
Step 2 of 5
- Use 10 Berries to help catch Pokémon (10 Poké Balls)
- Play with your Buddy 5 times (15 Great Balls)
- Catch 30 Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region (10 Ultra Balls)
Rewards: 5,000 XP, 2,500 Stardust , 3 Fast TM
Step 3 of 5
- Use 15 Berries to help catch Pokémon (10 Razz Berry)
- Earn 25 hearts with your Buddy (10 Nanab Berry)
- Catch 40 Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region (10 Pinap Berry)
Rewards: 5,000 XP, 2,500 Stardust , 3 Charged TM
Step 4 of 5
- Use 20 Berries to help catch Pokémon (25 Bulbasaur Candy)
- Earn 4 Candy exploring with your Buddy (25 Charmander Candy)
- Catch 50 Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region (25 Squirtle Candy)
Rewards: 5,000 XP, 2,500 Stardust , 1 Lure
Step 5 of 5
- Use 151 Berries to catch Pokémon (15,100 XP)
- Earn 15,100 Stardust (15,100 XP)
- Catch 151 Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region (15,100 XP)
Rewards: 10,000 Stardust , 1 Incubator
Though it’s worth noting the steps involving catching Pokémon originally found in the Kanto region will be easier while the “Rediscover Kanto” event is still active (as, unlike the Special Research, that does have an end date), Kanto Pokémon are common enough in Pokémon Go that completing these won’t be an issue long term.
‘Rediscover Kanto’ event bonuses
Alongside the Special Research steps, the “Rediscover Kanto” event offers a handful of bonuses active April 22 to May 9, 2024:
- Increased XP for seven day PokéStop spin and Pokémon catch streaks
- Double Friendship level boost (when opening Gifts, trading, or battling together)
- Increased chance of shiny Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle when spawning in their respective biomes
- Ivysaur, Charmeleon, and Wartortle will gain Charged attacks Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn, and Hydro Cannon respectively when evolved
‘Rediscover Kanto’ Field Research tasks, rewards
Spinning a PokéStop during the event period can offer one of the following Field Research tasks:
- Power Up Pokémon 5 Times (25 Venusaur, Charizard, or Blastoise Mega Energy)
- Pokémon Go guides
- “Rediscover Kanto” Special Research
- How to find Wiglett
- Ditto disguises
The next level of puzzles.
Take a break from your day by playing a puzzle or two! We’ve got SpellTower, Typeshift, crosswords, and more.
