You can find our full list of Italy tours  here .

Prices from £695

Price based on 20 students and 2 free staff, not including flights.

Prices from €790

Prices from $860 , day 1: your adventure begins.

Touch down at  Pisa airport .  Your  tour guide   will meet you, run through  safety guidelines,  and give you a trip briefing as you take a coach into the city centre.

It’s called  Galieo Galilei Airport   for a reason – head straight to the famous  Leaning Tower of Pisa,  to see where Galileo supposedly experimented by dropping a feather and a cannonball off the top at the same time!

Climb the tower   to really feel the lean, and then pose for that classic photo outside.  In addition, d on’t forget to peek inside the  11th-century cathedral , because in here you’ll find  baroque-style art and the relics of the patron saint of Pisa.

After a typical  Tuscan sandwich lunch  in Pisa, hop on the coach and follow the Arno River inland to  Florence ,  the city that was previously Pisa’s fierce rival. Check in to your hotel and admire Florence’s main square,  Piazza  della  Signoria,   before dinner.

Enjoy a  welcome Florentine dinner , experiencing local specialties such as steak or  ribollito   soup.

Day 2: From Uffizi to Boboli

To kick off Day 2 of your Renaissance Italy tour, visit the  Uffizi Gallery   and get a guided tour from an art historian expert. They’ll teach students the significance of Renaissance works by Botticelli, Michelangelo, Caravaggio, Da Vinci, Gentileschi, and many more!

Then, walk over the  Ponte Vecchio .  This bridge is  so aesthetically stunning that the retreating Nazi army decided against destroying it in 1944.

After lunch, it’s time to explore the ornate  Boboli Gardens   at leisure, doing your best impression of a Medici noble. Be sure to find the perfect spot for that group picture with  Brunelleschi’s towering dome  in the background. Get a good look, because you’ll be climbing it tomorrow!

Day 3: Baptisteries & Brunelleschi

Right in the heart of Florence, you’ll hear experts discuss the central  C athedral of Florence ‘s architecture and the majestic mosaic ceilings of  St John’s Baptistery .  Then, follow your guide into the  Opera del Duomo Museum  to see the Baptistery’s original brass doors – and important works by Donatello and Michelangelo.

Next, hotfoot it to the  Galleria dell’Accademia   to see  Michelangelo’s Statue of David  up close and in the proverbial flesh!

Make sure you fill up at the fashionable  Central Mercato,  because you have quite the climb ahead. Follow the 463 steps up to the top of  Brunelleschi’s Dome   for unrivalled views across Florence and far beyond.

This evening, you and your students will enjoy a farewell to Florence  dinner  and  trip awards/end-of-trip quiz.   Are there Tuscan traditions you haven’t tried yet? If so, now’s your chance!

Day 4: Arrivederci, Italy!

Today, the end of your Renaissance Italy tour has arrived. There’s time for one last walk through the cobbled streets of medieval Florence as you take a  coach to the airport  and fly home, ready to tell everyone about your learning adventure!

Cruise Itinerary

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Las Palmas is a city (and municipality) on the island, Gran Canaria, which is one of the Canary Islands (Spain) located 210 kilometers off the northwestern coast of the African continent within the Atlantic Ocean. It is also the capital city of the province of Las Palmas and the co-capital of the autonomous community of the Canary Islands, sharing this status with Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The city was founded on June 24, 1478, with the name “Real de Las Palmas” by Juan Rejón, head of the invading Castilian army, before engaging in war with the local Guanches (aboriginal people of the Canary Islands). In 1492, Christopher Columbus anchored in the Port of Las Palmas (and spent some time on the island) on his first trip to the Americas. He also stopped on the way back to Spain. Today, a museum is named after him -Casa Colón – in the Vegueta area of the city. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is today a cosmopolitan city. It has five beaches (Las Canteras, Las Alcaravaneras, San Cristobal, El Confital and La Laja) and a big seaport (Puerto de la Luz harbor) that was very important during the 70s and early 90s (and benefited greatly from the closure of the Suez Canal during the Arab-Israeli conflict).

Puerto del Rosario is a busy port and the capital of Fuerteventura, one of Spain’s Canary Islands. It’s known for its whitewashed houses and open-air artworks, including giant snail sculptures along the harbor promenade. Close to the harbor, Playa Chica is a sheltered beach with clear waters. Playa Blanca, to the south, has strong surf. Shops line León y Castillo and the pedestrianized Primero de Mayo streets.

As you arrive in Funchal on an MSC cruise, your ship will cast anchor in a bay protected by mountains rising straight up behind the port. The name, Funchal, derives from that of the fennel plant, the funcho still used today in the traditional sweets known as rebuçados de funcho, that one can find anywhere on the island of Madeira. An excursion will take you around the town centre, to visit historic churches, from the A Sé Cathedral, with its inlaid ceiling, to the majestic Church of the Incarnation, to the church of Carmo without a vault. Another MSC excursion will take you up to the village of Monte, from where one can admire a spectacular view of the Funchal bay. You can visit its 18th century church and the tomb of the last Austrian emperor, Charles I, and stroll around the magnificent botanic gardens. But if you like heights, there’s nothing more impressive than the Cabo Girão and its 589 metre tall cliffs, amongst the highest in the world, at the foot of which lie the cultivated lands known as Fajãs do Cabo Girão. If you’re looking for an equipped beach during your MSC cruise, another excursion will take you to Machico. Founded in the 15th century, it hosts the oldest religious building on the island, the Capela dos Milagres, and the fortresses of São João Baptista and Nossa Senhora do Amparo built in the beginning of the 16th century. The more lively tourist attraction is instead in Calheta, on the south-west coast. Splendid yachts cruising across the Atlantic are moored in the port and if you want to go for a swim there are two beautiful beaches of golden sand; in spite of the modern structures Calheta dates back to the mid-15th century. This is where they make the “Aguardente”, the best white rhum, and fundamental ingredient of Madeira’s typical drink, the “Poncha” .

Arriving to the Port of Santa Cruz de la Palma in the Canary Islands on an MSC cruise ship is an incredible feeling. The city was founded inside the Calderata, an ancient volcanic crater that rises to a height of 1800 metres, protecting the sailing vessels of the past, and the cruise ships of today, from the wind. The history of Santa Cruz de la Palma, once an important stop on the trading route to the East Indies, has enriched it with fortifications, such as Castillo de Santa Catalina and Castillo de Santa Cruz del Barrio, constructed in the second half of the 16th century to defend Santa Cruz de la Palma from attacks by pirates.

However, the historical heritage of the city centre, which is encountered at practically every corner, dates back to the Renaissance, Baroque and Classical periods. It will be worth your while to loose yourselves among the streets, if for nothing else, than to simply admire their unique balconies, such as the one in Avenida Maritima.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the port capital of Tenerife, the largest of Spain’s seven Canary Islands. The city showcases incredible sights such as the Plaza de Espana, the church of St. Francis of Assisi, and the soaring white wave auditorium, the Auditorio de Tenerife. This quintessential Canary Island’s town is a colourful MSC Mediterranean Cruises destination where you can soak up the sun, dine in style, or take a dip in glittering waters.
