You Can Now Sail To CocoCay Twice Per Cruise

For those who think one Perfect Day at CocoCay isn’t enough, Royal Caribbean has announced a series of sailings which will include two visits to their newly-expanded private island.

There will also be other sailings which, while only stopping for the day, will extend their visit into the night.

How To Spend Two Days at CocoCay

Starting September 30, both Navigator of the Seas and Mariner of the Seas will be doing special sailings to Perfect Day.

All will be four-day trips, with some featuring extended hours at CocoCay and others making two stops there, with a visit to Nassau thrown in for good measure.

“Perfect Day at CocoCay has revolutionized private destinations in the vacation industry, and the resounding feedback from our guests is that they want more,” says Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. “More time and even more ways to experience the island. We’re building on an incredible adventure that’s already winning the hearts of many.”

It’s not surprising that Royal Caribbean would want to give visitors more time to enjoy their private destination, given that they pumped over $250 million into renovations. Among the attractions now found there are a hot-air balloon, the Caribbean’s largest freshwater pool, new dining options, a 1,600 foot zip-line course and a slew of waterslides.

Still to come later this year is the Coco Beach Club, which will feature a massive infinity pool and the highly-anticipated over-water cabanas.

Navigator of the Seas will sail out of Miami and head to Nassau, followed by an extended day at CocoCay and a sea day. Mariner of the Seas will head out of Orlando before doing either a sea day followed by Nassau and an extended day at CocoCay, or two visits to CocoCay with a Nassau visit between them.

Navigator’s three special late-night visits to the island will give visitors a chance to take part in some traditional Bahamian-inspired activities, including a Junkanoo Jam Up Party, an island barbeque and performances by a calypso band. The whole thing will be capped off with farewell fireworks before the ship sails away.

Same Port Twice? Royal Caribbean Announces Cruises With TWO Stops at CocoCay

In one of the most unique moves we’ve seen in a cruise itinerary, Royal Caribbean just announced new itineraries that will stop at the same port twice in a single cruise.

That port of call with two stops? Royal Caribbean’s very own Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas.

The island has been a port of call for Royal Caribbean for years, but it recently underwent a dramatic renovation costing a staggering $250 million. Today CocoCay is unlike any other port in the world.

CocoCay entrance

Come ashore on the private island and you’ll find a 33,000 square foot pool, white sand beaches, a full waterpark (including a 135-foot waterslide that’s the tallest in North America), and even kid’s splash parks.

According to Royal Caribbean, the new changes are a huge hit with passengers. On a recent earnings call, the CEO of Royal Caribbean Richard Fain went to far as to say that “to describe Perfect Day as a home run wouldn’t do it justice.”

Now the company seems to be backing up that talk. In total, 40 sailing are now slated to make two stops to CocoCay according to a press release from the company:

“The cruise line has revealed new, 4-night itineraries that now tout two visits to the industry’s leading private island destination. In one short getaway, guests will have twice the time to thrill and chill on their choice of nearly 40 sailings beginning Sept. 30, 2019.”

The cruises with two stops are aboard the Mariner of the Seas and the Navigator of the Seas. These two ships sail from Port Canaveral and Miami, respectively, on four-night trips. In between each stop the trips also make a call at Nassau.

This announcement is a huge shift in how cruise lines “normally” do things. Frankly, we’ve never heard of a line doing two stops to the same port before. But then again, we’ve never seen a port of call like Perfect Day at CocoCay either. You can see the cruises sailing twice to CocoCay here .

Two Stops at Perfect Day

Cool Cruiser

I have been to Coco Cay and have recently learned that there are (were?) sailings that stop there twice. I’ve tried searching the website and the only advice they give for filtering is to select locations. This returns over 100 results. Is there a way to search for only cruises that stop at Coco Cay twice? Or is there some other filtering that can be done to limit the search? Thanks in advance!

Side note - Just returned from a 4 day aboard the Mariner and got rerouted from Coco Cay/Nassau to Costa Maya and an extra sailing day. Hence the desire to go to Coco Cay.

You can do a 3 + 4 day or 4 + 3 day back to back from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Port Canaveral.

I’m pretty sure there is no way to filter any cruise site to spit out results for a sailing that stops in the same port more than once. I’ve never heard of this being something that had any kind of demand….until just now. I would suggest either getting a good/great/Godly TA or try calling up RC directly

This is about as great of a workaround as you are going to find! Bravo @Another_Critic

No cruises stop there twice. The only ones that did were right after the restart.

Thanks

@Another_Critic  that is a great idea!

From experience: we were on Odyssey in December 2021 and did a scheduled stop at coco cay. Then after that all our shore excursions were cancelled due to an Covid outbreak among the crew. so they took us back to coco cay on the last day. The only other country that would let us dock was the Dominican- which was not on the original itinerary. Otherwise I don’t know of any itinerary that includes two stops at Coco Cay.

Yes.  I did two cruises from Nassau in the summer of 2021 on the Adventure and we did two days at Coco Cay, mostly because we needed some places to go and I think all we had was Coco Cay, Cozumel, and Freeport.  I remember everyone had to test negative before we got to Freeport or they were removed from the ship there and flown home.

That cruise in July 2021 remains the best and worst cruise I was ever on.

Best since there were so few people on the ship. Worst because of all the covid stress.

Everything You Should Know About Royal Caribbean's Private Island, Perfect Day at CocoCay

Here’s what you need to know about Perfect Day at CocoCay before your next Royal Caribbean voyage.

royal caribbean cruises with 2 days at coco cay

Getting There

Things to do on perfect day at cococay, dining on perfect day at cococay, family-friendly activities, adults-only activities, tips for visiting.

Courtesy of Royal Caribbean

Private islands aren't only for billionaires — they're for cruise lines, too. Many Royal Caribbean cruises include a stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay, the cruise line's private island in the Bahamas. Spanning 125 acres, Perfect Day at CocoCay has a little bit of everything for everyone, whether you're seeking some laid-back beach time, family fun at a water park, or a Vegas-style pool party.

The island underwent a $250 million overhaul in 2019, and its list of attractions includes the tallest waterslide in North America (one of 13 waterslides in total), overwater cabanas, a 1,600-foot zip line, and an adults-only zone. The renovation also added a two-ship-capacity pier to the island, so guests can simply walk off their ship and onto the island rather than take a tender.

If you want to book excursions or private cabanas for Perfect Day at CocoCay, do so as early as possible. Excursions are bookable online before your cruise's departure — although Royal Caribbean tends to periodically unlock excursions rather than open all bookings at once. Check around six months prior to departure to see what's available. Anything that's left at the time of departure can be booked onboard.

Ready to plan your adventure at Perfect Day at CocoCay? I recently visited during a sailing on the new Icon of the Seas , so here's everything you need to know about Royal Caribbean's private island in the Bahamas.

Royal Caribbean's fleet is enormous, with a whopping 26 ships — and counting. Many of them spend the entire year in the Caribbean, and that means you can visit Perfect Day at CocoCay any month of the year. Of course, not every single sailing calls at this port, so be sure to check the itinerary before booking.

Once your ship pulls alongside the pier at Perfect Day at CocoCay, you'll have anywhere from eight to 10 hours to explore the island. Depending on the day, your ship might be the only one at the pier, or you might be sharing it with another Royal vessel. In the latter case, there might be more than 10,000 guests on the island at once.

After you make your way down the pier, you're greeted by island staff, who can guide you to the attractions. At this point, you can hop on a free tram to bring you to some of the more distant areas, like the adults-only Hideaway Beach or the family-friendly Breezy Bay at Chill Island. But the whole island is also walkable, and it takes about 15 minutes to get from one end to the other. Beach-access wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis, too — ask a crew member to point you in the right direction.

The only things you need to bring onto Perfect Day at CocoCay are your SeaPass Card and a towel — towels are handed out onboard before heading to the island unless you've booked a cabana, where towels are provided. There are a few towel-swapping stations on the island if you need a fresh one.

While general admission to Perfect Day at CocoCay is free, certain zones and attractions do require a fee. As such, I'll be sharing things to do on the island in two sections: complimentary activities and ones that come at an extra cost.

Free Things to Do

For zero charge, guests have access to Splashaway Bay and Captain Jill's Galleon (two splash pads for kids); Oasis Lagoon (the Caribbean's largest freshwater pool, spanning three-quarters of an acre); and the beaches Breezy Bay at Chill Island and South Beach (loungers are free, but daybeds and cabanas must be rented for a fee).

Options Available for a Fee

For an extra charge, the fun really kicks in. Thrill Waterpark, with 13 slides and a wave pool; the 1,600-foot zip line; and Up, Up, and Away (a helium balloon ride) all cost extra. You must also pay to enter the exclusive Coco Beach Club and Hideaway Beach zones — the former is where you'll find the overwater cabanas, while the latter is the adults-only beach club. Other extra activities include snorkel and kayak rentals, as well as formal excursions, such as jet skiing and scuba diving.

Dining is included at Skipper's Grill, Chill Grill, and Snack Shacks on Perfect Day at CocoCay; here, you can find burgers, tacos, sandwiches, salads, and even soft-serve ice cream. Then there's the restaurant Captain Jack’s, which is known for its chicken wings, where you have to pay per dish. If you pay to enter Coco Beach Club, your admission includes dining at a Mediterranean restaurant. Similarly, Hideaway Beach admission covers food at its Snack Shack and Slice of Paradise pizza bar.

The food at Hideaway Beach was a highlight of my afternoon ashore. At the Snack Shack, the ceviche was a stunner, with a touch of spiciness that was perfect with a sweet piña colada. And the mozzarella sticks hit the spot, too. At Slice of Paradise, I was impressed that the menu included Bahamian seafood escabeche pizza, a nod to a favorite local dish.

Royal Caribbean is a family-friendly cruise line , and pretty much all of Perfect Day at CocoCay is family-friendly — except for Hideaway Beach, which is a designated adults-only zone.

If your kids are looking for some action, there's plenty to keep them entertained. Toddlers might enjoy the splash pads at Captain Jill's Galleon or Splashaway Bay, while older kids might want to head straight for Thrill Waterpark with towering waterslides and a wave pool. Then there are the "dry" activities like the 1,600-foot zip line and the helium-filled balloon ride.

For a more relaxing island day, consider visiting one of the three family-friendly beaches, where you'll find free loungers and free beach strollers on a first-come, first-served basis. If you'd prefer a pool, Oasis Lagoon has a zero-entry cove. And if you'd like to maximize privacy, consider booking a cabana for the whole family. The Coco Beach overwater cabanas are the star of the show, each with a two-person overwater hammock, a slide into the sea, a private shower, and concierge service.

Interestingly, there's no dedicated daycare or kids club on the island, so sorry parents — you'll have to bring your kids with you. That said, Adventure Ocean will remain open onboard your ship, so you can drop off the kids if you want to slip out to Hideaway Beach for a few hours.

As I visited Perfect Day at CocoCay without kids, I made a beeline for Hideaway Beach, the adults-only area of the island. Admission comes at a cost — anywhere from $39 to $89, depending on the day. But if you're looking for a Vegas-style pool party — with club music blasting throughout the majority of the horseshoe-shaped cove — this is where you'll find it. There's a DJ in the middle of the lagoon-style pool, where you'll find a swim-up bar, too. (That's just one of four bars here, mind you.) Island staff were even walking around with Champagne water guns, shooting right into the mouths of thirsty guests. Find a little more peace over on the far side of the beach, where the cabanas with semi-private pools are located. The music drifts over here, but no speakers are pumping it in. I spent the majority of my afternoon in a hammock on this calmer side of the beach.

  • Use the app to book activities and excursions, like a ride down the zip line and entrance to the beach clubs and water park.
  • Speaking of the zip line, closed-toe shoes are a requirement, so bring a pair ashore if you plan on riding it.
  • The crowds are usually largest in the morning, as many guests head back to the ship in the afternoon. Consider heading ashore later in the day for less congestion.
  • If you've paid for Wi-Fi on the ship, you'll also have access to Wi-Fi on the island. Similarly, drink packages extend to all the bars on Perfect Day at CocoCay.
  • Don't forget to bring your towel back onboard. If you don't return your towel, you'll be charged $25.
  • The slides do have height requirements and weight limits. Minimum height requirements are usually 42 or 48 inches tall, while maximum weight limits top out at 300 pounds per person.
  • If you plan on shopping at the straw market, bring some cash — vendors can't charge purchases to your SeaPass.
  • Lockers and showers are available on the island, though you can return to the ship and come back ashore as many times as you want.

Two Stops at Perfect Day at CocoCay on Select Cruises

Perfect Day at CocoCay

There’s no disputing that Royal Caribbean hit a home run with the opening of Perfect Day at CocoCay. Ships offering stops at the re-imagined private Bahamian island are commanding a premium price and the cruise line has ramped-up capacity with several instances of two ships docking at the same time.

Taking the experience even further, Royal Caribbean has announced that select 4 night cruises onboard Mariner of the Seas from Port Canaveral and Navigator of the Seas from Miami, will make two stops at Perfect Day at CocoCay on the same itinerary. To accommodate the second day, the originally scheduled full sea day has been substituted, however guests will still visit Nassau, Bahamas as originally planned.

Three exclusive cruises also make their debut today, featuring the ultimate late-night island experience on Perfect Day, complete with extended hours and new adventures.

Perfect Day at CocoCay

Michael Bayley, President and CEO, Royal Caribbean International said:

“Perfect Day at CocoCay has revolutionized private destinations in the vacation industry, and the resounding feedback from our guests is that they want more – more time and even more ways to experience the island,”   “We’re building on an incredible adventure that’s already winning the hearts of many.”

Guests sailing on board Navigator and Mariner of the Seas on these select cruises can double down on adventure by chilling one day and dialing up the thrills the next, or hitting repeat on a combination of all their favorites. From plunging down the tallest waterslide in North America, Daredevil’s Peak, and soaring up to 450 feet in the air in the Up, Up & Away helium balloon, to relaxing in the Caribbean’s largest freshwater pool, Oasis Lagoon; or on the pristine, white sand beaches, vacationers have plenty to choose from.

PERFECT DAYS TURN INTO PERFECT NIGHTS

Shining a whole new light on the ultimate short getaway are Royal Caribbean’s three one-of-a-kind cruises with late-night visits to the island on board Navigator .

Travelers of all ages will have the chance to extend the excitement long after the sun sets with traditional Bahamian-inspired activities, including a Junkanoo Jam Up Party, an island barbeque and performances by a calypso band and fire dancers, topped off with unforgettable farewell fireworks before setting sail.

A Perfect Day in CocoCay: Royal Caribbean’s Private Island

Posted by Annick Lenoir-Peek | Updated on Apr 25, 2024 | Published on Jan 11, 2023 | Port Days , The Bahamas | 2

A Perfect Day in CocoCay: Royal Caribbean’s Private Island

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

Cruise companies create their own private destinations. Some companies add to the infrastructure already on the island (like Carnival in Grand Turks ), while others buy and develop their private islands. CocoCay in the Bahamas is Royal Caribbean’s private island and resort. Only cruise ships owned by Royal Caribbean International stop here – Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Silverseas. So why is it called “ A Perfect Day in CocoCay ?” And is it really a perfect day? Here is everything you need to know to enjoy CocoCay.

What Is CocoCay?

Click to access perfect-day-at-cococay-map.pdf

Little Stirrup Cay, one of the Berry Islands in the Bahamas, is better known as CocoCay. The facilities were re-branded on May 4, 2019, as “Perfect Day in CocoCay.” If you visited before then (like me), you’d be surprised at the size and improvements made.

CocoCay can be super crowded or paradise, depending on the number of ships docked. On a recent sailing, our Jewel of the Seas, with about 2500 passengers, was the only ship onshore. It felt like our own private island!

HOT TIP: Plan to avoid the crowds by going to CocoCay before 11 am or after 3 pm.

Perfect Day at Coco Cay: aerial photo of island with docket ship.

What Is Included in CocoCay?

You don’t need to spend any money on CocoCay! Because Royal Caribbean owns the island, you can easily spend a day without additional expenses. You can choose from multiple complimentary dining options. There is no admission fee – so enjoy!

Beaches, Beaches, and More Beaches!

CocoCay features several distinct beach areas, each with its own character. The one thing the white sand beaches at this private destination have in common is the crystal-clear tropical water.

Chill Island

If you visited years ago, Chill Island is the main beach area as you enter CocoCay towards the left. Chill Island is where most visitors come to relax. It is a popular area for snorkeling and floating on mats.

South Beach

This is the beach for those looking for a floating bar. Due to its location farther away from the pier, South Beach is also fairly quiet. The floating bar plays music, but it isn’t too loud. This area also features beach volleyball and basketball courts. Or opt to try a stand-up paddleboard. This beach has a good mix of chill and active.

Coco Beach Club

As a private beach, there is a fee associated with visiting this beach. See below for more information.

Harbor Beach

This beach is more protected from the currents and features calmer waters. Harbor Beach is ideal for those who wish to be close to the grills.

Oasis Lagoon Pool

Not a fan of salt water? No worries! The Oasis Lagoon, the Caribbean’s largest freshwater pool is the option for you. You’ll still be able to enjoy lounge chairs and the sand, but without the irritation of salt water. You’ll find a swim-up bar, and there is a DJ playing all day.

Hideaway Beach

Open as of January 2024 is the adults-only area named Hideaway Beach. Expect a party atmosphere with a DJ cranking out beats next to the swim-up bar. The area features five bars and two eateries featuring pizza, burgers, and salads. Opt to rent a private cabana with your friends to be near the action. Or level up your options with a VIP cabana with stunning views of the Caribbean and your own exclusive infinity pool! You’ll have a cabana attendant and spot on this beachfront paradise.

"Perfect Day" letters sign at CocoCay as you disembark and approach island.

Chairs and Umbrellas

Hurray for included complimentary beach chairs and umbrellas! Find your perfect area and grab a chair and umbrella! According to Royal Caribbean, CocoCay boasts 6000 lounge chairs and 1200 umbrellas, so a chair should be available for just about everyone!

Your drink package is valid in Coco Cay. You’ll need to bring your sailing card (which you need to disembark the ship anyway) to access your drink package or charge drinks if you don’t have a drink package. Don’t forget to try the Coco Loco (with rum), the local frozen drink. Non-alcoholic versions are available as well.

If you purchased the Voom (internet) package, you could use it here for free. Make sure you keep your phone on airplane mode, or your cell phone provider may charge you an international daily rate.

You can bring the ship’s pool towels to use on Coco Cay. While you may get them from your cabin attendant or the pool deck ahead of time, chances are that there will also be a station on the deck as you get ready to exit the ship.

Like on the ship, your food is included in your cruise ship cost. You can find complimentary food at one of four food outlets: Chill Grill, two Snack Shacks, and Skipper’s Grill. Eat breakfast before arriving, though, since the food options are geared toward snacks or lunch. The good news is that there is a variety, from burgers and hot dogs to pizza, tacos, and salads. The grills both have soft-serve ice cream as well.

Free lockers are available to store your belongings if you plan on moving around. Located near the entrance to most areas, they are first-come, first-served basis.

Transportation

The island is relatively small and well-marked, with well-maintained pathways and signs. If you have mobility issues or simply get tired, a tram will connect you from the pier to the various areas of the island.

HOT TIP: Ride the tram around CocoCay upon arrival to get a feel for the layout of the island. Don’t forget that you are not restricted to one area – feel free to move from the pools to the beach and all around.

pool at CocoCay with balloon ride in back

What Additional Options Are Available?

For an additional fee, visitors to CocoCay can experience thrilling adventures. Royal Caribbean holds sales on excursions and packages before sailing, so purchase these at least several days before the cruise to save on the additional cost.

Coco Beach Club dining is more elevated than other island options. For example, you can find lobster, steak, ceviche, and much more. Day beds and pool loungers are first-come, first-served, so get there early. They even have plushier towels, so don’t bring yours from the ship.

Day passes for Coco Beach cost between $80 and $180 per person (depending on the sailing date). So why pay for this if so much is included otherwise? Think of this as an exclusive club – only a few hundred people can buy passes. We’re talking about a light breakfast, branded towels, private beach access, floating mats, beach chairs and umbrellas, and elevated menu offerings.

If you plan on participating, you’ll need closed-toe shoes. There are three zip lines around CocoCay, but IMHO, they’re a bit pricey unless you MUST zip line or have never zip lined before.

Up, Up and Away Helium Balloon

This tethered hot air balloon ride lifts you 450 feet into the air. You get great views and can take fabulous photos. Since drones are not allowed on CocoCay, this is the only way to get aerial shots. It’s a fun way to try a helium balloon ride.

Perfect Day at CocoCay: lagoon with chairs with Jewel of the Sea ship in background

Thrill Waterpark

A water park on a private island? Yes! Daredevil’s Peak is the tallest waterslide in North America – at 135 feet high. The Caribbean’s biggest wave pool is here. There are 13 slides – the most of any waterpark in the Caribbean. So if you’re a fan of waterparks, this is a good one even if there is an admission charge!

HOT TIP: If you’ve got younger kids, you don’t need to buy waterpark access! Various splash pads and smaller water slides throughout the island are entirely free.

These tend to be pricey, so I don’t recommend paying for a private cabana unless you’re a group of friends or family willing to split the costs. Sure they give you privacy, but then you’ll feel like you have to spend your time here to make it worth it. The overwater cabanas and private service make them a splurge and a better option when there are several ships at once.

Water Rentals

The island is well-equipped. You can rent snorkel equipment to see all the sea life or visit an airplane wreck. For a nominal fee, you can rent a floating beach mat. Jet skis and kayaks can be rented, but these are through the shore excursions available before cruising or on the ship.

Captain Jack’s

This restaurant serves wings and fries, but it comes with a cost. Do you need wings and fries to have a perfect day? If so, then this is a good option. If not, use the free options around the island.

What to Bring to CocoCay

The good news is that your ship is right there, so if you forget something in your cabin, you can easily retrieve it. But save yourself some aggravation and bring the following to have the best time on the island:

  • Seapass card (you need it to get off and on the ship and to order drinks and services)
  • Cash (if you want to buy crafts or for tips)
  • Swimsuit (including rash guard if you’re going to spend the day outside)
  • Towel (from the ship)

Is a Perfect Day at CocoCay Worth It?

With so many beautiful Caribbean island destinations, why would you book an itinerary with a Perfect Day at CocoCay? Almost every Royal Caribbean itinerary from Florida includes a stop at CocoCay, so it may not even be an option.

The beach is gorgeous. The facilities are fabulous. You can experience a perfect day during your relaxation-filled cruise – or adventure thrilled. It is up to you! And the best part is that this is one stop where you don’t have to spend an extra dime during your cruise. This is a good deal! CocoCay is Royal Caribbean’s perfect day.

Have you visited CocoCay? Did you enjoy the experience, or would you rather have another Caribbean stop?

Royal Caribbean shares its plan to keep passengers happy

W hen you sail on the larger ships Carnival and Royal Caribbean offer out of various Florida ports, you're generally choosing the ship over its destinations. It's not that you can't have fun in Nassau, Cozumel, Roatan, Freeport, St. Maarten, and the other Caribbean stops those ships make, but they're not the most exotic locations.

Both cruise lines, however, have made many of the ships sailing out of Port Canaveral, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami destinations in themselves. Royal Caribbean has the biggest cruise ship in the world, Icon of the Seas, sailing the Caribbean out of Miami, and its next Oasis-class ship, Utopia of the Seas will kick off its first season sailing 3-4 day itineraries out of Port Canaveral.

Related: How a Royal Caribbean sale really works (and how to save money)

Itineraries for many of Royal Caribbean's ships including Icon, Utopia, and another Oasis-class ship, Allure of the Seas, all stop at the cruise line's private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

CocoCay is not a traditional just a beach with food and drinks private island. It's more a resort destination with a huge no-extra-charge pool along with an added-fee Beach Club and a separate extra-cost adults-only area, both of which have their own pools.

Perfect Day has been a big enough success for Royal Caribbean that the cruise line plans to "Beach Club" private experiences, one in Nassau and the other in Cozumel. In addition, Disney, Carnival, Norwegian, and MSC Cruises all have plans to either build new private destinations or improve their existing ones.

Royal Caribbean gives the people what they want

Royal Caribbean understands its customers. The brand's CEO Michael Bayley explained its strategy during the company's first-quarter earnings call .

"When we think of the Beach Club portfolio that we're planning on developing, along with Perfect Day, they're incredibly complementary destination experiences and they fit really in the sweet spot of our demographics and really in terms of what our guests are seeking, looking for when they go on a Caribbean cruise, they really knock it out of the park in terms of satisfying that demand, that need. So, very similar type of product, different vibe," he said.

The company's private island offers a slightly different experience compared to what the upcoming Beach Clubs will offer.

"Perfect Day is the full day for thrill and chill and the Beach Club is, as you imagine, just an incredible day at the beach, which is what most guests are seeking in the Caribbean. And it's curated by Royal Caribbean. It's a stunning experience. And of course, it's very authentically connected to the culture, for example, in the Bahamas or Mexico," he added.

And it really is a huge demand driver. When we look at the demand that we've seen for Perfect Day, this year we'll take 3.2 million guests to Perfect Day. Last year it was 2.6 million. And it really is a demand driver.

Private islands drive demand

The success of Coco Cay almost certainly factored into Carnival building Celebration Key in Grand Bahama and Disney working on Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, its new Bahamas destination.

Bayley made it clear that Royal Caribbean's customers are fueling the investment in private destinations.

"People want to sail on the ships that go to Perfect Day and they want to sail on the ships that go to the Beach Club. And I think it's proven to be incredibly successful. When you wrap that up with the kind of hardware we've introduced, for example, Icon, which has been an unbelievable success. I mean, beyond our wildest dreams success," he shared.

Want the latest cruise news and deals? Sign up for the Come Cruise With Me newsletter.

Bayley believes that success is repeatable.

"And you add on Utopia, which is a brand new Oasis-class ship, which was going straight into the short product market out of Port Canaveral. The demand we've seen for, for example, Utopia sailing to Perfect Day has been extraordinary. So we think we've got the formula figured out. And our plan is to continue to evolve and develop that formula over the coming years," he added.

Royal Caribbean drink packages: Prices, inclusions and what to know before you buy

Melinda Crow

Royal Caribbean drink packages allow you to drink what you want, when you want without feeling like you are being nickeled and dimed. Isn't that most cruisers' dream? The all-inclusive, extra-fee beverage plans aren't necessarily for everyone, but they offer a nice way to enhance your cruise and take some of the stress out of in-the-moment vacation decisions.

Royal Caribbean ships offer a variety of packages, from a simple Water Package that keeps you and your crew hydrated during your cruise to a comprehensive plan that includes most alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. Other than the Water Package, which is priced based on the quantity you order, drink packages on Royal Caribbean are priced per person, per day.

For cruise news, reviews and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .

The most common questions about Royal Caribbean's drink packages revolve around what each package includes, whether they are worth the price and when is the best time to buy your package. I've tried all of Royal Caribbean's drink packages. I've also cruised without a package. Here's what you need to know to decide if a beverage plan is right for you.

What's included in Royal Caribbean's drink packages?

Royal Caribbean offers a few different drink packages, and the inclusions vary based on your choice. All options include gratuities, and no Royal Caribbean drink package covers room service or minibar drinks. Also, unlimited alcoholic beverage packages may not be available while the ship sails in some locations, so package details may change based on the itinerary.

Water Package

Royal Caribbean's Water Package is available in 12- and 24-packs of 1-liter bottles of Evian water. The bottles will be delivered to your cabin on embarkation day.

royal caribbean cruises with 2 days at coco cay

If you don't want to pay for a Water Package, you can find drinking water at complimentary drink stations in the buffet area and often in other locations on Royal Caribbean ships. Bring your own reusable bottle and fill it from these stations or straight from the faucet in your cabin. The water throughout the ships is not only drinkable but also better than what's available in many cities. You can also purchase bottles of water a la carte.

Why might you consider a Water Package? If you drink bottled water at home, you may prefer the taste. The package also allows you to have plenty of water on hand in your cabin or to take on excursions.

The downside is that 1-liter bottles are not the ideal size for lugging off the ship with you. You must either bring a reusable bottle or purchase single-serving bottles for port days. You can get these at bars or the gangway as you disembark in each port.

Classic Soft Drinks Package

Royal Caribbean's Soft Drinks Package is for the serious soda drinker. On select ships, the package comes with a souvenir Coca-Cola cup with a chip on the bottom to allow the holder to use the Freestyle soda dispensing machines throughout the ship. The "magic" cup gets you all the refills you want 24 hours a day, with your pick of sodas with add-in flavorings. (Orange Coke is my fave.) Coca-Cola Freestyle machines are available on 18 ships in the fleet.

You can also order a glass of soda at any restaurant or bar on board. Some venues only serve fountain sodas, but others have cans. One big bonus of the package is that sodas on Royal Caribbean's private island destinations ( Perfect Day at Coco Cay and Labadee ) are included. The only time you can't get a free soda with this package is with room service (because room service, other than continental breakfast, comes with a $7.95 service fee, no matter what you order) or from your cabin's minibar.

Related: 8 best drinks to order with a cruise ship beverage package (and 3 to avoid)

You can bring up to 12 cans of soda (or bottles up to 17 ounces) per person on board with you in your carry-on luggage when you board the ship. So, why would you want a Classic Soft Drinks Package?

It's a question of convenience. I've been known to take a couple of 16-ounce bottles of soda on board with me, but carrying on much more than that is a big hassle. With a Classic Soft Drinks Package, you can easily access your beverage of choice anywhere you are on board — including ordering sodas from roaming bar servers at the pool, in the casino or at events and shows — or on Royal Caribbean's private islands . You don't have to return to your room to grab a soda. It's also great for older kids and teens who might be roaming the ship with friends.

Refreshment Package

This is my favorite Royal Caribbean drink package. It includes still and sparkling water, sodas (with the included Freestyle magic cup), mocktails, premium coffees and teas (but not those from Starbucks stand-alone stores or kiosks) and freshly squeezed juices.

With this package, you can order almost anything nonalcoholic at bars and most restaurants on board. The Refreshment Package does not include shakes at Johnny Rockets, which are only included with the Deluxe Beverage Package.

Even the smoothies and protein shakes at Vitality Cafe and milkshakes at Johnny Rockets are included in this package, as is the sweet tea at Portside BBQ on Oasis of the Seas. Want a strawberry slushy? Order a virgin strawberry daiquiri. Want hot cocoa? Covered. How about a virgin mudslide? A bartender will happily blend up vanilla ice cream, coffee, hazelnut syrup and chocolate syrup into a perfect mocha shake.

As with the Classic Soft Drinks Package, you can order your nonalcoholic beverages, from sparkling water to fancy mocktails, from your pool lounger or blackjack table.

Plus, with the Refreshment Package, you've solved the problem of needing water to take off the ship with you for excursions and what to drink while on the private islands. It's all included in this package.

Deluxe Beverage Package

This package takes all that's available in the Refreshment Package (sodas, water, mocktails, premium coffee and tea, and fresh-squeezed juice) and adds cocktails, spirits and liquors, as well as beer by the bottle or can and wine by the glass.

There are some limits on brands available with the package, but the list includes imported, domestic and craft beer, an extensive wine list and commonly ordered spirit brands on drinks up to $14. Any bar server can tell you what's available on your cruise.

You also get a hefty 40% discount on bottles of wine up to $100 and a 20% discount on bottles over $100. It's handy for sharing a bottle with your travel partner at dinner.

As with the Classic Soft Drinks and Refreshment packages, you can use the Deluxe Beverage Package anywhere on board (except stand-alone Starbucks locations). Use it in restaurants, bars and any other venue where a bar server is present, as well as at either of Royal Caribbean's private island destinations. The Deluxe Beverage Package also includes milkshakes at Johnny Rockets.

royal caribbean cruises with 2 days at coco cay

This package comes with a few caveats. If one person in a cabin buys this package, everyone of legal drinking age in the cabin must buy the same package, according to cruise line policy. If someone in your room does not drink alcohol, don't worry. I've encountered many people who have called customer service and downgraded one or more non-drinking adults to a Refreshment Package.

Related: 15 ways that cruising newbies waste money on their first cruise

The package also does not include drinks that come with souvenir glasses, but you can order the same drink in a regular glass.

If your vacation plans include alcoholic beverages, buying this package is a nice way to pay your cruise bar tab in advance rather than deal with the shock of a high bill at the end of the cruise.

Cafe Select Coffee Card

This option is ideal for cruisers who prefer a little fancier caffeine fix than what a simple cup of coffee provides. This card entitles you to any 15 specialty espresso-based coffees throughout your cruise. (This package excludes beverages from Starbucks stores or cafes.) One shot of espresso equals one card punch. If you order a specialty coffee that includes two shots of espresso, you will pay for that one drink with two punches.

Unlike Royal Caribbean's other drink packages, the Cafe Select Coffee Card is not restricted to one person, and anyone in your cabin can use it.

What do Royal Caribbean drink packages cost?

The cruise line uses dynamic pricing on beverage packages the same way it does on cruise fares. That means you won't know the prices for each package before you book a cruise. Demand, destination and promotions play a big part in the pricing, especially for the Deluxe Beverage Package, causing them to fluctuate slightly.

Here's what you can expect a Royal Caribbean drink package to cost:

  • Water Package : 12 bottles for $39; 24 bottles for $69
  • Classic Soft Drinks Package : $12.99 per person, per day
  • Refreshment Package : $29 per person, per day
  • Deluxe Beverage Package : $56 to $105 per person, per day (depending on your ship and trip)
  • Cafe Select Coffee Card : $31 per card

The prices listed above do not include an automatic 18% gratuity (which is also applied to the coffee card). You'll want to factor that amount into your travel budget if you decide to purchase a package.

You will notice that the Deluxe Beverage Package price range listed above is a bit wider than what is posted on Royal Caribbean's site. Posted price ranges include the disclaimer that prices on individual sailings may vary. We used a realistic range of prices from Royal Caribbean guests who have booked cruises and paid for drink packages in the past 12 months.

The best time to buy Royal Caribbean drink packages

You can purchase a beverage package as soon as you book your cruise, but should you? A lot depends on how soon your ship will depart. If you're sailing within a few months, go ahead and get any packages you plan to buy — unless Black Friday happens before you sail. Black Friday deals on drink packages are generally the lowest you'll find all year.

The package that varies most in price is the Deluxe Beverage Package. Its price is higher during peak travel times and on cruises with stops at private islands. Buying this package ahead of time is always cheaper than purchasing it once you're on board.

Royal Caribbean does advertise price drops and deals for pre-cruise purchases. If you're waiting and hoping for a deal, frequent cruisers report that you should look at the actual price per person, per day, not at the percentage off or BOGO deals, to determine if the package price is where you want it.

Is a Royal Caribbean drink package worth it?

Now that you know your choices and why you might want each package, let's get down to the nitty-gritty of whether these packages are worth purchasing.

The 1-liter bottles in the Water Package cost roughly the same as a 12-ounce bottle from a bar. That makes this package a deal, but only if you prefer bottled water over taps or dispensers. It's also convenient to have the water delivered to your cabin, eliminating the need to bring a case of bottles on board or search for a bottle when you want water on the ship.

When ordering an individual soda on the ship, your charge will be what you'd expect to pay at a land-based restaurant, plus an 18% gratuity added automatically. When you ask a bar server for a soda on the ship, you'll be charged just over $4 per soda with the tip, regardless of whether it comes in a can or from a fountain.

As the starting point for the Classic Soft Drinks Package is just over $15 per person, per day with the gratuity, you'll need to count on drinking a minimum of four sodas a day for it to be a good value.

If you prefer nonalcoholic beverages, you can expect to pay around $7 for mocktails and protein shakes, $5 for lattes at non-Starbucks locations and close to $9 for smoothies. These prices are before the automatic 18% gratuity.

Here's what your daily consumption might look like on the Refreshment Package: You could start with a morning latte ($6 after you add gratuity), grab water for your excursion ($3.84), enjoy a soda at lunch ($4), sip a couple of mocktails during the afternoon ($8.25 each), have another soda with dinner ($4) and enjoy another mocktail for the show or in the casino ($8.25).

That puts you at over $40 for the day, making the Refreshment Package a deal at $34 (with tip) per person, per day. Drink much less than that, and this Royal Caribbean drink package won't be worth it. The Refreshment Package price varies only slightly between sailings.

For alcoholic drinks, prices vary a lot based on your order. Beer and hard cider average $7 to $9. Wine by the glass is $9 to $25. Cocktails are $10 to $14, except for the drink of the day, which is $8. These prices do not include the 18% gratuity.

royal caribbean cruises with 2 days at coco cay

When deciding if Royal Caribbean's Deluxe Beverage Package is worth it, be sure to factor in nonalcoholic drinks you are likely to have, not just those with alcohol. How many premium coffees do you drink each day, including one with your dessert at dinner? How many bottles of water and sodas?

The value of those often adds up to $25 or more per day. That leaves you with somewhere between $30 and $80 per day to spend on alcoholic drinks to break even.

If you're lucky and can purchase your package at the lowest possible price, almost anyone who drinks a combination of nonalcoholic drinks and a couple of cocktails daily would break even. But if your purchase price is somewhere in the middle of the price range (where most people land), you would need to consume a minimum of $55 per day beyond the average nonalcoholic beverages to break even. That equals six beers, or four or five glasses of wine or cocktails.

Related: Are cruise drink packages worth the price? What to know before you buy

royal caribbean cruises with 2 days at coco cay

For fans of specialty coffees, this package could save you money. Based on the price of a single espresso shot latte (about $6 after you add gratuity), you would only get five coffees for roughly the same cost as the coffee card. Since you get 15 single espresso shot beverages with the coffee card, you get more than double the number of coffees for the same price.

Whichever package you choose, your value may also depend on your itinerary and activities. On a Caribbean cruise that includes a sea day or two and a stop at CocoCay, you'll likely drink more — simply because you're relaxing more than touring, and the hot temperatures will make you thirsty.

But what about a port-intensive cruise in Europe where you are off the ship for long hours and likely to be sampling local beverages? In that case, the ship's beverage package might not come through for you.

Combined packages

If you mainly drink specialty coffees and sodas, one way to save a little money on your beverages is to combine the Cafe Select Coffee Card with the Classic Soda Package.

For example, you would need to purchase the Refreshment Package to get both sodas and premium coffees and teas, which is $29 per person, per day. The cost for the Cafe Select Coffee Card with the Classic Soda Package would run you $12.99 per day, plus a one-time cost of $31 for the card. So, for a five-night cruise, the Refreshment Package would cost you $145 per person; the combined Cafe Select Coffee Card and Classic Soda would cost $95.95 per person. You could spend even less if you're traveling with a partner and want to share one coffee card and each get your own soda package.

Additional factors

Before you decide if a Royal Caribbean drink package is worth it, there are two more things to consider: your Crown & Anchor loyalty status and your Casino Royale player status .

If you are a Diamond C&A member, your SeaPass card will be loaded with four free drinks per day. Diamond Plus members get five drinks, and Pinnacle members get six. Those can be water, specialty coffee or tea (other than from Starbucks and Desserted), sodas from bar servers, beer, wine or cocktails up to $14 (except at Bionic Bar).

As for casino perks, if your status is Prime or higher, you can drink free from the casino bar anytime it is open.

Those free perks could make the difference in which package you choose, if any. For example, a Diamond member might use her free drink allotment on cocktails and wine and save money with a Refreshment or Soda Package for her other daily drinks. Or, perhaps, the free drinks are enough that it's cheaper to buy a few nonalcoholic beverages a la carte.

Diamond Plus members also have a discount of 30% on Deluxe Beverage Packages when purchased on board. That's rarely a good deal unless you simply forget to buy in advance, as pre-purchase in the cruise planner or app is almost always at least 30% lower than the onboard price.

Bottom line: Is a drink package on Royal Caribbean right for you?

royal caribbean cruises with 2 days at coco cay

Now that you have all the facts, there are several ways to look at Royal Caribbean's drink packages to determine if you should get one.

First, consider every kind of drink you will likely pay for on board. Are you happy with beverages that are included in the cruise fare? Those include tap water, drip coffee, tea, milk, lemonade and juice from a dispenser at breakfast. Or, will your vacation only be complete with morning lattes, smoothies, fruity drinks by the pool and wine with dinner?

For some people, it's easy. If you're likely to drink four or five cocktails most days, plus specialty coffee, waters for excursions, soda and a glass of wine at dinner, your total, if purchased individually, would easily exceed $80 per day. Unless your sailing has a higher-than-average price for the package, go for it.

However, if you typically only drink a couple of glasses of wine at dinner, you aren't likely to break even — at least, not on the Deluxe Beverage Package. In that case, skip the package that includes alcohol and do the math on the Refreshment Package.

If you drink soda, the difference in price between the Classic Soft Drinks Package and the Refreshment Package is $16. Almost any combination of two other drinks — lattes, mocktails, smoothies or bottled water — makes the Refreshment Package a deal for you. If you can live without the extras, stick with the soda-only package.

If none of those looks like a bargain, pay as you go. Some people set a daily drink budget and check themselves (or their kids) against their folio in the Royal Caribbean app or on the interactive TV in their cabin. I've even met people who bring cash along to pay their drink balance daily at guest services to stay on track.

The other side of the equation is to factor the price of the drink package into the total vacation cost to make the cruise more of an all-inclusive vacation experience. Think about it like you would an all-inclusive land-based resort. When you vacation at one of those, you not only wouldn't know the price of the drinks you consume, but you also would not care.

If you're more interested in a stress-free vacation where you don't have to agonize about the cost of every drink you consume than you are in paying the least amount of money possible for your vacation, a Royal Caribbean drink package is totally worth it.

The bottom line is that drink packages on Royal Caribbean expand your choices. You can use packages to make your cruise as all-inclusive as you'd like (and maybe save some money in the process), or you can opt to cruise and drink in pay-as-you-go mode. Either way, you'll find plenty of fun cocktails and mocktails, as well as your favorite wine and beer, to enhance your vacation at sea.

Royal Caribbean advertises a visit to their private island of Coco Cay, as the opportunity to have a great day, a 'Perfect' day. Nothing is ever perfect, but as long as you enjoy being outside in the summer, being here really does offer you the most options of how to spend a beach day, with no stress. I like the idea of all inclusive, where you don't have to worry about every interaction's monetary value. This is why cruise vacations are a big draw for me, and RC has carried that concept landside. Everything that you've already paid for (food, internet, drink packages) carry over to the island. Of course, there are a ton of add-ons that you can do for a fee. But I didn't need that...just needed my tummy fed with free food, a little tipsy from the complementary drinks (4 free a day because my brother is a Diamond status), and making sure I had enough sunscreen on to not regret the aftermath the next day. We got off the Liberty of the Seas as soon as we were allowed...it was quite a crowd waiting till takeoff at 8 am, but the crew was efficient in scanning our cruise cards. Our first and only destination was South Beach, where we spent all of our day, until we had to go back around 3 pm. There is a really good paper guide that has a nice map explaining all of the ammenties. - the whole island is very walkable. There are a series of trams (really just big golf carts), making stops at marked places on the map. - all the processes on the island is extremely organized. There was not a time when i thought to myself, 'They should do it this way to be more efficient'. - The whole island is well staffed. There are lifeguards in every place where swimming is allowed. Everything is constantly being cleaned and picked up. And if you had a question, it was easy to find someone to get an answer. Most of the staff are coming from the two boats that were docked that day. But there are also Bahamans that live continuously on the island (4 month contracts), for jobs that require doing even when the boats are not there. - There are quite a few, complementary restaurants serving beach food en masse. - For those who care, there are six Pokemon Go gyms on the islands, with a lot more stops as well. This allowed us to play quite a bit, making us glad that we brought extra batteries for our phone (the cell service is tied to the Bahamas, and the island WiFi is avaiable for those who have ship Wi-Fi package). - drink packages carry over from the ship, and every bar seemed very busy. - loungers and umbrellas are already set-up by the time you come, and are complementary (first come, first serve). Daybeds (Cabanas) provide complete shade from the sun and run from $200 - $400 for the day. I also saw over the water cabanas near South Beach and those run in the thousands. I'll admit I did very little on the island, mainly because I know I will be back and don't have to hurry everywhere to experience 'everything' at once. Instead I focused on South Beach, trying my best to enjoy what I consider to be a perfect beach day (without spending any additional funds). And wow...it got pretty dang close!

It's basically an amusement park. I tried to like it, but it's all about the kids and for tourists who might never experience the real Bahams. It was our first time here via Icon, and the island a clown show. Firstly, Icon was amazing! No issues there. The island was just a waste of time and money. Some background: we've vacationed the Bahamas and their beaches are never crowded. Coco is crowded like Waikiki (another beach I don't care for) The waterpark has Disney park prices, for a half day use. The zip line is antiquated, like it was recycled from a military boot camp. Sit style...totally boring! And no pics considering it's premium cost. But I get it for others who've never actually experienced a real Bahama vacation, they might call this a 'perfect day'‍ Going back to my initial statement, this is just an amusement park, or a caricature of the Bahamas. But this is just my experience and opinion.

What a beautiful place the views are absolutely stunning. The water is warm and blue where you could see your toes. It's absolutely beautiful. Coco Cay has a little bit of everything for all ages. But I happen to like the Coco Cay private beach area ( that comes with a price ) yet well worth it & we have one life, it's on or in the back of the island or front ( I guess depending on which way you look at it ) has a pool that overlooks the ocean you can swim in the pool or the ocean and you also get a steak and lobster lunch with your passes - it's just more private, but the island itself is absolutely stunning.!

My view for the day!

I have been here twice, once to the water park and the other to the beach and oasis pool. I personally like it better on the beach and oasis side since the water park can be a bit expensive for what it's worth. We got rained on and the cruise offered us a credit when we were at the water park last year. Since we decided not to do any excursions this time around, the weather ended up being perfect and we did what we wanted. Swim, eat, drink, and repeat. There is something to do for all ages and you won't go hungry. The buffet offers tacos, salads, burgers, hot dogs, self serve ice cream machines, and plenty of beverages. Everything is within walking distance if you don't use the trams. It definitely was a perfect day at Coco Cay.

We had a great time at Coco Cay. It was rather windy and the water was initially quite chilly but that did not deter our good time. There was a lot of wildlife like lizards and birds which were fun to see. The views were stunning. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We also very much enjoyed the food. We would both recommend and return.

Royal's private island in the Bahamas is THE private island of the cruise lines. They have spent big bucks to turn this island into an array of different spots for different wants. Big thrills water park, fun pool with dj and bar, private cabanas, plenty of beachfront area, adult only spaces, zip lines, and food and bars a plenty; some free, some for cost. With two ships (not even talking the newest largest ones) in port, certain areas can definitely feel the crowd. Usually it's felt in the free pool and smaller food outlets like the Snack Shacks. Speaking of the shacks, that's where you go for the funnel cake and the shack chicken sandwich. We will get off the ship just for those. They do, however, also have some great premade salads and you can add fried or grilled chicken. At the larger buffet areas I recommend the portobello sandwich or the philly cheesesteak, or make your own taco salad. If you bring your own snorkel equipment and get off early enough (before all the sunscreen clouds the water), you can snorkel for free on the beach just off the rocks. Usually fish around to see. Last time we were there the lifeguard said there was a lemon shark around in the morning. Haven't gone to the water park yet but maybe I'll make it there one day. They also have a tram pretty frequently to take you to and from the boat. Overall lots to do on the island for free.

Perfect Day at Coco Cay, Perfect actual exists on Royal Caribbean, private island Coco Cay. Had such a wonderful day, with the entire family of seven. We got to the island around 830am and enjoyed every aspect of fun, the island had to offer. The island is full of all amenities, there are so many bathrooms throughout the island. Especially with young kids, you are all covered. Highly recommend getting on the island early, as many tables and chairs go quickly. I do recommend that you take the time, to experience Coco Cay.

I think Coco Cay was my favorite part of my cruise with Royal Caribbean. There are quite a few different spots on Coco Cay, each with a different feel. For example Chill Island was laid back and chill, then crossing over to Oasis Lagoon where the party is happening at the bar in and out of the pool. And there are hammocks! I took a nice little nap after a few pina coladas. There are a few restaurants on the island, but the buffet has a variety of food from burgers to tacos to salad. The food at the buffet was decent, but they really go heavy on the salt. There are also 2 self serve beer machines.

Royal Caribbean in the past has been a stand out experience. I'm not sure exactly what has changed but if you have sailed in the past and loved it, it's still a passable vacation just temper EVERY expectation. From food to service to spa the problem is really the poor attention to care. Perhaps they've had to cut their staff or perhaps they cannot attract the same level of dedication in their staff but there is a marked change. I witnessed a number of upset customers as you do on a cruise. Expect no level of concern if you have ANY issues. I wish I hadn't needed to know this. If your trip doesn't require any troubleshooting you'll be okay. Since it's a cruise it's still an easy vacation.

The Best Cruise Restaurants Onboard Mariner Of The Seas

Where to find the best cruise food on this top-rated voyager class cruise ship..

By Amanda Mesa | Published on May 10, 2024

As a former food critic, dining plays a big role in every aspect of my life — especially when it comes to vacations. My family teases me about the fact that when it comes to planning cruise getaways, the ship’s food scene impacts my decision-making as much as onboard attractions or the ports of call on the itinerary. For many years, I’ve counted Mariner of the Seas among my favorite cruise ships.

For starters, it’s a smaller ship and therefore offers the more intimate atmosphere that I prefer over larger cruise ships. But above all, the food scene onboard this Voyager Class stunner is unparalleled. It’s home to some of my favorite cruise restaurants, including Royal Caribbean classics like Izumi and Chef’s Table. It also boasts one of my all-time favorite cruise restaurants, Playmakers SM  Bar & Arcade.

That’s in addition to casual, complimentary cruise dining at Windjammer, Dog House and Café Promenade, as well as elevated, multi-course dinners at the main dining room. Without a doubt, I’ve enjoyed some of the best cruise food ever when sailing on Mariner of the Seas. Here’s a cheat sheet to the top dining options that await onboard.
