Safari for Mac makes it incredibly easy to save a local copy of a web page as a PDF file. Here's how to do it.

If you're using Safari on a Mac and you'd like to save a local copy of a web page for later viewing, it's easy to export the page to a PDF file . Here's how to do it.

First, open Safari and navigate to the web page you'd like to save as a PDF file.

In the menu bar at the top of the screen, select File > Export as PDF.

A Save window will pop up. Type a file name (or leave the default name) and choose the location where you'd like to save the PDF file. When you're ready, click "Save."

After that, the web page will be saved as a PDF in the location you chose. It's that easy!

You can save other documents as PDF files on Macs , too. Just use macOS's built-in "Save To PDF" abilities in any app with a print option.

It's easy to export a web page to a PDF file with the Apple Safari web browser on the Mac. When you save a web page to PDF, you can share it so that the information looks identical to how it appears on the website. All PDF files look the same on a computer, tablet , phone, or another device. PDFs are also an alternative to printing the web page .

How to Export a Web Page as a PDF in Safari

It takes a few clicks to convert a web page to a PDF file with Safari.

Open the web page you want to save to PDF.

Go to the File menu and choose Export as PDF .

How to Print a PDF From a Website in Safari

Another way to save a web page as a PDF file is to print the page to PDF.

This feature is available in most web browsers.

The keyboard shortcut is Command + P .

Make a Cleaner PDF in Safari

Use Reader mode to remove ads for a cleaner appearance when saving a page as a PDF. It makes sites easier to read and simpler to save.

Reader isn't available for every website.

Navigate to the site you want to save.

Go to the View menu and choose Show Reader . Or, press Shift + Command + R on the keyboard. If the Show Reader option is gray, it isn't available for the current page.

To activate Reading Mode in earlier versions of Safari, select the three-line icon next to the URL.

A pared-down version of the page opens in Reader. Save the page as a PDF or print it as a PDF to keep a copy of the page.

How to Save a Full Page or 'Scrolling Screenshot' as a PDF on iPhone and iPad

In iOS, Apple has extended the system's built-in screenshot feature to include the ability to save a full web page or "scrolling screenshot" as a multi-page PDF.

• Launch the Safari app on your iPhone or iPad .
• Navigate to the web page that you wish to save as a multi-page PDF.

• A preview of the screenshot will pop up in the lower left of the display. Tap it to open up the Instant Markup interface. You'll have about five seconds before it disappears.
• Tap the Full Page tab in the upper right corner of the Markup interface.
• To save the PDF, tap Done and then tap Save PDF to Files . To share the PDF, tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing out) and select how or who to share it with from the Share screen.

Note that you can also use Markup to edit your PDF before saving or sending it.

3 Easy Ways to Save a Webpage as a PDF Using Safari on a Mac

Here are three quick and easy ways to export a website as a PDF on your Mac. You can even get rid of all the ads beforehand!

Surfing the internet will lead you to interesting reads that you may want to return to later or save as a future reference. There are many ways to do this—from bookmarking the page, to adding it to your reading list, to taking screenshots, or to printing the entire webpage.

With your Mac, however, you can easily export a webpage as a PDF using Safari and save it to your documents. Here’s how to do it.

1. Save a Webpage Exactly How It Looks on Safari

If you want to quickly convert a Safari webpage into a PDF on your Mac, without the need to customize it, do the following:

• While on Safari , go to the menu bar and click File .
• Scroll down to Export as PDF .
• In the popup window, rename the file and choose the save location.

Remember that saving a webpage in this manner will give you an exact PDF version of the webpage, which includes all the menu bars, buttons, ads, and reading suggestions. Though, some of the formatting may change slightly in the PDF to how it appears on your screen.

2. Save a Webpage Without the Distractions

If you find all the ads and buttons unappealing and distracting, you can create a clean PDF copy of the webpage with all the clutter. To do this:

• From Safari , click View > Show Reader .
• Then repeat the above process: Go to File > Export as PDF > Save .

Aside from the cleaner look, saving a webpage from Reader View renders the PDF in pages instead of a single scrollable strip, similar to how saved pages look when you save full-page screenshots of webpages on your iPhone .

3. Save a Customized PDF Using Safari

If you only want to save specific sections of the webpage instead of the entire thing, you can use this method:

• In Safari , go to File > Print .
• Check the specific pages that include the sections you want to save on the page preview.
• Under Pages , input the pages of the PDF you want to save.
• Click the dropdown menu at the bottom, then choose Save as PDF .
• Rename and choose the file destination before hitting Save .

Like saving web pages from Reader View, saving your PDF in this manner will give you a PDF with several pages instead of a single strip of webpage screenshot.

If you don’t want to include the webpage’s background, just uncheck the box beside Print backgrounds . This is helpful if you plan to print the PDFs and don’t want your printer to waste a ton of ink on the background.

You can also get rid of the headers and footers by removing the check mark beside Print headers and footers .

Fortunately, Mac's default browser, Safari, allows you to do this for free. You don't even need to install anything; you already have access to the Safari save page as PDF feature.

Here are 3 effective ways to save webpages as PDFs using Safari.

Method 1. Export the Page as a PDF

Suppose you want to save the page exactly the way it looks on Safari. You want to include the buttons, the menu bars, and reading suggestions. Using the Export as PDF option allows you to do that. However, please note that this method also includes the ads currently displayed on the webpage.

Furthermore, please keep in mind that the PDF may not be a carbon copy of the webpage. There may be some slight changes in the formatting.

With that out of the way, here is how you do it:

• Open the webpage that you want to save on Safari.
• Click File on the top toolbar.
• Select Export as PDF.

• Name the PDF and select a destination folder on the pop-up window.
• Click Save.

Why Use This Method?

• It lets you include all the elements in the webpage.

Why Avoid This Method?

• It includes even the ads.

Method 2. Use the Print Option

What if you want to include only certain parts of the webpage in the PDF?

You can also do that using the Print option. This option is great because it allows you to customize how the PDF looks. You can include or exclude the background, which will help you save ink if you plan on printing the PDF. Additionally, you can remove headers and footers.

Here is how to use this feature to save a webpage as a PDF on Safari:

• Open Safari and visit the webpage that you want to save as a PDF.
• Click File.
• Select Print.
• The Print window will appear. Check the pages on the Page Preview to select the ones you want to save. Specify it on the Pages option.

• Optionally, edit the other options. You can change the paper size and orientation and choose to or not include headers, footers, and the background.
• Click PDF on the bottom left and select Save as PDF.
• Choose the file destination and name the PDF.
• It allows you to customize the PDF.
• It requires you to do more things compared to the other methods. Thus, it is not ideal when time is a luxury.

Method 3. Save the Webpage as PDF Without the Distractions

There is another method that lets you save the webpage as a PDF without changing the way it looks. Unlike Method 1, this one allows you to remove clutter on the webpage. It excludes buttons, menu bars, other interactive elements, and, most importantly, ads. You can do it by utilizing the Reader View.

Follow these steps to do this:

• Open the webpage that you want to save with Safari.
• Click View > Show Reader. Alternatively, click the Reader View button on the left of the address bar.

• The Reader View removes the ads and the buttons from the webpage. Click File > Export as PDF to save it.
• Name the file and select a destination folder.
• It removes the ads.
• It also removes the interactive elements.

Part 2. How To Save Safari Pages as PDFs on iPhone Using Scrolling Screenshots

Safari is also available on iPhones. Expectedly, and unfortunately, the mobile version of the browser is not as powerful as the Mac version. So you don't have access to the features mentioned above.

But not all hope is lost. The thing is that iPhones allow you to take scrolling screenshots. It allows you to create a screenshot that covers the whole webpage. You can save this screenshot as an image, or you can choose to save it as a PDF instead. With this, you also don't have to install extra apps on your iPhone to save a webpage as a PDF.

Follow these steps to accomplish this:

• Launch Safari on your iPhone and navigate to the webpage that you want to save as a PDF.
• Simultaneously press the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons to capture a screenshot. Suppose your iPhone does not have a Home button, press the Power button along with the Volume Up button instead.
• A preview of the screenshot will appear at the bottom left of the screen. It will stay on the screen for 5 seconds. Click this to open the Instant Markup interface.
• Tap Full Page on the top right of the interface.
• Tap Done on the top right left of the screen.
• Select Save PDF to Files on the pop-up menu.

Wondering how to download and save PDF files from Safari to a Mac? If you frequently encounter and work with PDF documents on the web, you might be interested in saving them locally to your Mac from time to time. With Safari, it’s easy to open, save, and download PDF files to the Mac.

The process is quite simple as this tutorial will demonstrate through several different ways to download PDF files to save them to the Mac from Safari.

You may have noticed that default Safari will automatically open PDF files that are clicked into in-browser windows. That can confuse some users at first, but it ends up being OK because if we’re looking to save a PDF file that makes it very easy to do as you’ll see.

How to Download & Save PDF Files from Safari to Mac

Opening PDF files in Safari on the Mac allows them to be easily downloaded and saved to the computer, here’s how the process works:

• Open Safari on the Mac if you haven’t done so yet
• Go to the PDF file in Safari that you want to save to the Mac
• With the PDF file open in Safari, pull down the “File” menu and choose “Save As”

• Name the PDF file and select the destination to download the PDF file to and then click “Save” to download and save the PDF file locally to the Mac at that destination

In the example image here, we’re downloading a PDF document of a study (https://www.gwern.net/docs/longevity/2019-decabo.pdf) and saving it locally to the Mac desktop where it can be easily found.

How to Download PDF Files from a Link in Safari

If you want to download a linked PDF file in Safari to the Mac, that works the same as downloading any other linked item in Safari on the Mac:

• Right-click on the PDF file link and choose “Download Linked File As”

• Save the PDF file to the Mac destination as desired

You can use either method to download and save PDF files to the Mac.

How to Download & Save Linked PDF Files in Safari with Option Key

Another neat download trick for Safari that is lesser known is to hold down the OPTION key and then click the link to the PDF, or refresh the current URL if the PDF page is already open in Safari .

That will also download the PDF document directly into the Downloads folder as configured by Safari.

Note that saving a PDF file from Safari is completely different from saving a webpage as a PDF in Safari on Mac , the latter of which actually preserves the webpage as a PDF file and also saves it locally. It’s a bit redundant, but you can technically use that same save-as-pdf approach to an existing PDF too, which may be helpful in some situations if the PDF file you are trying to save is stuck in an iFrame or something similar that prevents easy access to opening, downloading, and saving the file directly.

And yet another neat trick; if you happen to forget where you got a particular PDF from but you want to know the source URL, you can retrieve a files original direct download URL using this Safari trick .

How to Make Safari Download PDF Files Instead of Opening Them

The download tips above will allow you to download PDF files from Safari, but you may still end up opening the PDF file in Safari too. If you want to download PDF instead of opening, you can try the following tricks:

Another option to download a PDF instead of opening it within Safari is this:

• Load the PDF into Safari and then click URL bar
• Hold down the OPTION / ALT key
• Hit return (or refresh the PDF on display) to download the PDF

This will instantly download the PDF file to your Downloads folder, unless you changed the download destination in Safari.

Remember that Safari defaults to using the User Downloads folder on the Mac, but you can change the Safari download location if needed to suit your preferences.

These methods work on practically all versions of Safari for basically all versions of MacOS and Mac OS X, so it shouldn’t matter what software release you are on you will be able to open, download, and save PDF files to the Mac locally if needed.

An even easier GUI way to view and save PDFs in Safari: Many PDFs when clicked on will open in a separate Window or Tab. Hover cursor near the bottom and a small tool bar will appear, showing “Magnifying Glass” icons to Enlarge +, or Shrink – the page, and, two other icons that let you Open in Preview, or, Save to Downloads. (I’d attach a pic if I could!)

Export as PDF in Safari is not working

When I'm using Safari and I find an article that I want to convert to a PDF, I choose File --> Export as PDF --> Save.

The problem is that sometimes (not always), instead of saving the article on multiple pages, it saves the entire article as one page that is very, very long.

See the one thumbnail and see the page size at the bottom of the frame says 17.57 x 76.32 in. I've tried to figure out 1) why it happens, 2) why it only happens in Safari and not other browsers, and 3) how to fix it when it does happen. So far, I've not been able to find any answers.

I tried the Adobe forum and no one could explain why it happens. Since it only happens in Safari, I was hoping someone here might know the answer.

You are not taking advantage of Safari's Reader View, which is the lined icon at the left of the following Safari address bar for this site:

Once you click Reader View, all of advertisement disappears, and the page is reformatted so that an Export to PDF paginates the content for you.

Hi, how do I disable Safari to save PDFs as a one-pager? Can I split the one-page PDF in Preview? Can't find anything on this issue except going through print/save as pdf.

I'll play devil's advocate to your point. Safari offers both choices, so it's really up to the user to decide what they want. I suppose there could be a checkbox of some sort in the Safari print pane though. The exported PDF isn't one page. It's just one document. There is no correlation between a PDF and a page until you put it on paper. This point is key.  

Yeah, I could see that maybe someone might want it as a one page PDF, but I'd rather see Export options in that case.

File format options for PDF export in Acrobat

When you export PDFs to different file formats using the Export a PDF tool in Acrobat, each file format includes unique conversion settings. To view the various formats, export the PDF in Acrobat, go to  All tools  >  Export a PDF .

Adobe PDF options (Acrobat Pro)

You can resave PDFs as optimized PDFs using settings in the PDF Optimizer dialog box. The PDF Optimizer lets you change the compatibility version of your PDFs so they can be viewed using older versions of Acrobat or Acrobat Reader. When you change the compatibility setting, newer features may be unavailable in the PDF. For an explanation of each compatibility setting, view PDF compatibility levels .

If you want to use the same settings every time you convert PDFs to a particular format, specify those settings in the Preferences dialog box. In the Convert From PDF panel, select a file format from the list and select Edit Settings . You can select the Defaults  at the top of the Save as Settings  dialog box to revert to the default settings.

Image conversion settings

Jpeg and jpeg 2000 options.

If your PDF contains a collection of images, you can export them individually as JPEG, PNG, or TIFF files by choosing All tools > Export a PDF > image format , and then select  Export all images .

Select the settings      options to set your export preferences. Note that options depend on whether you're exporting a document to JPEG or JPEG 2000. 

File Settings

• Grayscale/Color:  Specifies a compression setting that balances file size with image quality. The smaller the file, the lesser the image quality.
• Tile Size:  Divides the image being compressed into tiles of the given size. (If the image height or width is not an even multiple of the tile size, partial tiles are used on the edges.) Image data for each tile is individually compressed and can be individually decompressed. The default value of 256 is recommended. This option is available only for JPEG 2000 format.
• Baseline (Standard):  Displays the image when it has fully downloaded. This JPEG format is recognizable to most web browsers.
• Baseline (Optimized):  Optimizes color quality of the image and produces smaller file sizes but is not supported by all web browsers.
• Progressive (3 scans-5 scans):  Downloads the image first as a low-resolution image, with incremental quality improvements as downloading continues.

Color Management

RGB/CMYK/Grayscale

Specifies the type of color management to be applied to the output file and whether to embed an ICC profile.

If you use the Export To or Export All Images command on a PDF that contains JPEG and JPEG 2000 images, and export the content to JPEG or JPEG 2000 format, the resulting image may look different when opened in Acrobat. This can happen if the images have a color profile included at the page level but not inside the image data. In this case, Acrobat cannot bring the page-level color profile into the resulting saved image.

Colorspace/Resolution

Specifies a color space and resolution for the output file. You can let Acrobat determine these settings automatically. To convert color images in the file to shades of gray, choose Grayscale.

Higher resolutions, such as 2400 pixels per inch (ppi), are suitable only for small page sizes (up to 6.826 inches or 173.380 millimeters).

PNG options

PNG format is useful for images that are used on the web.

Specifies if the image is interlaced. None creates an image that displays in a web browser only after downloading is complete. Adam7 creates an image that displays low-resolution versions in a browser while the full image file is downloading. Adam7 can make downloading time seem shorter and assures viewers that downloading is in progress; however, it increases file size.

Filter: Lets you select a filtering algorithm.

• None : Compresses the image without a filter. Recommended for indexed-color and Bitmap-mode images.
• Sub:  Optimizes the compression of images with even horizontal patterns or blends.
• Up:  Optimizes the compression of images with even vertical patterns.
• Average:  Optimizes the compression of low-level noise by averaging the color values of adjacent pixels.
• Paeth : Optimizes the compression of low-level noise by reassigning adjacent color values.
• Adaptive:  Applies the filtering algorithm—Sub, Up, Average, or Paeth—best suited for the image. Select Adaptive if you are unsure of which filter to use.

RGB/Grayscale

Specifies the type of color management for the output file and whether to embed an ICC profile.

Higher resolutions, such as 2400 ppi, are suitable only for small page sizes (up to 6.826 inches or 173.380 millimeters).

TIFF options

TIFF is a flexible bitmap image format supported by virtually all paint, image-editing, and page-layout applications. Resolution is determined automatically.

Specifies a compression format. CCITTG4 is the default and generally produces the smallest file size. ZIP compression also produces a small file.

Some applications cannot open TIFF files that are saved with JPEG or ZIP compression. In these cases, LZW compression is recommended.  

RGB/CMYK/Grayscale/Other

Specifies the type of color management for the output file.

Microsoft Word & RTF options

You can export a PDF to Word format ( DOCX or DOC) or Rich Text Format ( RTF ). In Acrobat, select All Tools  >  Export a PDF . In the right pane,  select Microsoft Word  or other format . 

Layout Settings

• Retain Flowing Text :  Specifies that text flow must be retained.
• Retain Page Layout :  Specifies that page layout must be retained.

Comments Settings

• Include Comments :  Exports comments to the output file.

Image Settings

• Include Images :  Exports images to the output file.

Text Recognition Settings

• Recognize Text If Needed :  Recognizes text if the PDF contains images that contain text.
• Set Language :  Specifies the language setting for OCR.

HTML Web Page options

Select the drop-down menu next to  other options , and then select  HTML . You can select the settings        options to set your export preferences. 

File and Navigation Pane Settings

Single HTML Page

Specifies that a single HTML file is created when you export to HTML. To add a navigation pane, enable the following:

Multiple HTML Pages

Specifies that multiple HTML files are created when you export to HTML. Choose one of the criteria to split the document into multiple HTML files.

Detect and Remove Headers and Footers

Specifies if header and footer content in the PDF should be deleted and removed from the HTML files.

Specifies the language setting for OCR.

Spreadsheet options

Excel Workbook Settings

Specifies whether to create a Worksheet for each table or page, or the entire document.

Numeric Settings

Specifies the decimal and thousands separators for numeric data. Select one of the following:

Detect decimal and thousands separators using regional settings

Treat the following as decimal and thousands separators . Then enter or selecct separators in the respective fields.

PostScript or Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) options

You can export a PDF to PostScript for printing and prepress applications. The PostScript file includes full DSC (Document Structuring Conventions) comments and other advanced information preserved by Adobe Acrobat Distiller. You can also create an EPS file from any PDF for placement or opening in other applications. The options available depend on whether you're converting a document to PostScript or EPS.

If you create EPS files for separations in Acrobat Pro, all image color spaces should be CMYK.

Printer Description File

The PostScrip t Printer Description (PPD) provides the necessary information to format a PostScript file correctly for a particular output device. Device Independent creates only composite (not color-separated) PostScript or EPS files. Acrobat Default provides a starting point and reference for creating all types of PostScript and restores all default settings for the conversion. Adobe PDF 7.0 is compatible with most devices. This option is available only in PostScript (PS) format.

ASCII or Binary

Specifies the output format of image data. Binary output yields smaller files, but not all workflows can accommodate binary output.

Specifies the level of PostScript compatibility. Use Language Level 3 only if the target output device supports it. Language Level 2 is suitable for EPS files placed in another document and color-separated as part of that document. Use Language Level 2 for EPS files that you import into Microsoft applications.

Font Inclusion

Specifies the fonts to be included in the PostScript. Embedded fonts are taken from the PDF; the referenced fonts are taken from the computer.

Include Comments

Preserves the appearance of comments in the resulting PostScript file.

Convert True Type to Type 1

Converts TrueType fonts to Type 1 fonts in the resulting PostScript file.

Include Preview

Specifies if a TIFF preview is created for the resulting EPS file. This option isn't available when saving as PostScript.

Specifies the pages you want to export. When you export files to EPS output, each page in the range is saved as a separate EPS file.

Text and XML options

You can export from PDF to Text and XML formats.

To export a file in XML format, go to  All Tools  >  Export a PDF .  Select Microsoft Excel , then the drop-down next to Microsoft Excel , and then select XML .

PDF to Text

To export a file in text format, go to  All Tools  >  Export a PDF .  Select other format , then the drop-down next to other format , and then select TXT .

Output File Settings

Refers to the binary values, based on international standards, used to represent the text characters. UTF-8 is a Unicode representation of characters using one or more 8-bit bytes per character.  UTF-16 represents characters using 16-bit bytes. ISO-Latin-1 is an 8-bit representation of characters that is a superset of ASCII. UCS-4 is a Universal Character Set coded in four octets. HTML/ASCII is a 7-bit representation of characters developed by ANSI.

Use mapping table default uses the default character encoding defined in mapping tables, which appear in the Plug-ins/SaveAsXML/MappingTables folder. These mapping tables specify many characteristics of how the data is output, including the following default character encodings: UTF-8 (Save as XML or HTML 4.0.1) and HTML/ASCII (Save as HTML 3.2).

Generate Bookmarks

Generates bookmark links to content for HTML or XML documents. Links are placed at the beginning of the resulting HTML or XML document.

Generate Tags For Untagged Files

Generates tags for files not already tagged, such as PDFs created using Acrobat 4.0 or earlier. If this option isn't selected, untagged files are not converted.

Tags are applied only as part of the conversion process and are discarded after the conversion. This is not a method for creating tagged PDFs from legacy files

Image File Settings

Generate Images

Controls how images are converted. Converted image files are referenced from within XML and HTML documents.

Use Sub-Folder

Specifies the folder in which to store generated images. The default is Images.

Specifies the prefix added to the image filenames if you have several versions of the same image file. Filenames assigned to images have the format filename_img_#.

Output Format

Specifies the final format of images. The default is JPG.

Downsample To

Downsamples image files to the specified resolution. If you don't select this option, image files have the same resolution as the source file. Image files are never upsampled.

To ensure your data is best prepared for offset print, we recommend saving your files as PDF/X-3:2002 standard.

In the following you will find a step-by-step guide through the required export settings of Adobe InDesign; when exporting from Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, you will have less functions available for ink management, but the overall settings are the same.

You will notice rather quickly that PDF export in any professional layout software is structured in a similar manner, and most of them offer PDF/X-3 standard in a preset or drop-down menu. Unfortunately we are unable to list instructions for all programs available and kindly ask you to check your program's help files or tutorials if needed. Thank you in advance for your understanding!

1. PDF Standards

When using Adobe InDesign, save your PDF through File menu > "Export...", should you use Illustrator or Photoshop plesase choose File > "Save as...".

You will find the PDF/X-3:2002 Standard in the Adobe PDF Presets drop-down menu.

2. Compression 

You will notice that the correct image compression of 300 dpi is already set just by choosing the PDF/X-3 Standard.

No further changes are required here and you can move on directly to the next section.

3. Marks and Bleeds

Your file requires  bleed  on all sides in order to achieve a high quality print result.

The bleed is not added by default, so this is where you need to enable the checkbox  "Use Document Bleed Settings" .

As soon as the checkbox is enabled, InDesign will read your document's bleed settings and add them as greyed out. Should you receive a value of 0", please double-check that your document canvas is the correct size according to our  file templates   (and correct your document size and bleed settings if required) .

Please take note:  The amount of bleed required varies with products ordered; you will find the correct file setup information in our file templates. Furthermore, please  do not  add printer's marks. By adding these you are changing the final document size of your file which will lead to an upload error and the file will be declined by our automated data check during upload.

In this section you are able to set the documents color conversion and output intent. This is useful in case your document contains left over RGB elements, which InDesign will automatically convert to CMYK mode when choosing this option. Please take note, this function does  not  replace the neccessity to create your graphic elements in CMYK, it should rather be seen as a helpful added feature to convert your CMYK to the correct print profile.

Should you choose to convert to color destination, please ensure you select  "Preserve Numbers" . This way the number values of e.g. your black settings are kept and you don't run risk to accidentially convert a pure 100% K black used for texts to 4 colored black.

For offset print in our North American facilities, PrintSafari.com uses  Coated GRACoL 2006 (ISO 12647-2:2004)  color profile.

For  poster print , please use  ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI)  color profile. You can download the newest version at  www.eci.org  download section.

5. Conversion of Spot Colors to CMYK

If your file contains spot colors  (such as Pantone/HKS) , you need to convert them to process colors to print a project as 4/0 or 4/4. InDesign allows you to do this by using the Ink Manager. By enableing the  "All Spots to Process"  check box, all spot colors are converted to CMYK during export. This may result in color shifts (similar to the behavior of converting RGB to CMYK) and we kindly ask you to thoroughly check your document before file submission and if required make adjustments.

Please  only  use this function if you are  not  using spot colors in your file that mark special production elements such as spot UV or die cuts!

6. Save Presets and check your PDF

We recommend saving these setting as preset. This way you can choose them next time conveniently through the PDF presets drop-down menu and ensure that no check marks were forgotten or other errors occured.

To remove instant messages or delete or clear conversations: Learn more about how to remove an instant message or delete or clear a conversation . To export your messages and media from chat:

Sign in to the Export page with your Microsoft account.

Select the option to download your Conversations , Files , or both.

Exported messages include Skype and SMS messages, polls, scheduled calls, swift cards, and location shares.

Exported media includes files, pictures, videos, video messages, voice mail, and call recordings.

Select Submit request then select Continue when prompted.

You will need to check back periodically to the export page on the status of your export, which you can see at the top of the page under Available Exports . A link to download your files will also appear there when they are available to download.

Click the Download button to download your files.

To open the files and chat history downloaded from Skype:

The downloaded messages and files are delivered in a .tar file. You may need an additional application to open the .tar export file and extract your messages and files.

To extract the .tar file on Windows 10 or Windows 11:

Press the Windows + r keys on your keyboard to open the Run window.

In the Open: field, type cmd and then click OK .

Use the "change directory" (CD) command to navigate to your file:

Files saved to your Downloads folder : Type CD Downloads and then press Enter .

Files saved to a location other than your downloads folder : Type CD DIRECTORY , replacing DIRECTORY with the folder name where your exported file was saved. (IE: CD Desktop), and then press Enter .

Type tar -xvfYOURFILENAME_export.tar , replacing YOURFILENAME with the name of your exported file which usually follows the pattern 8_skypename_export.tar or 8_live_skypename_export.tar and then press Enter .

After the command completes, you will see your extracted messages file named messages.json file in the directory. We recommend downloading the file viewer to make is easier to read your conversation history.

After downloading the viewer , open it by selecting the index.html file from the skype-parser folder.

Browse to the messages.json file and then click the Load button.

To extract the .tar file on Mac: Browse to the .tar file you downloaded and open the file. Mac has built-in .tar support. To extract the Tar file on older Windows operating systems: You may need a third party applicatio n to open the .tar file. Note : This link is provided for your convenience and is not an endorsement of any particular third party tool. Ensure that any software you choose to download is from a trusted source.

Export and Delete Activity or Diagnostic Data

To export your activity data:

Go to the Microsoft account Privacy page .

Select Sign in with Microsoft .

Sign in to your Microsoft account, then select the Download your data tab at the top of the page.

Select Create new archive to export your data. We will walk you through the process.

To delete your activity data:

Navigate to the activity history.

Find Skype in the list of activities and select Clear to delete your activity data for Skype.

To export your diagnostic data:

Go to the I want to make a request regarding my personal data page .

Select Log in , then sign in with your Microsoft account.

Fill out the form and enter that you would like to export your diagnostic data in the What do you need from the Privacy Team today? field.

Select Submit .

Export Purchase History

To export a list of your purchases:

Sign into the Skype account page with your Microsoft Account.

Under Account details , select Purchase history .

Browse to the month you want to export.

Select either Download monthly Statement or Monthly VAT invoice .

Note : Purchase history is retained by Microsoft for tax and compliance purposes for up to 10 years. It is automatically deleted after the retention period expires.

Export Paid Calls History

To export your paid calls history:

Select Usage .

Select Export current month to history file .

Note : Paid calls history is retained by Microsoft for tax and compliance purposes for up to 10 years. It is automatically deleted after the retention period expires.

Delete Location Data

To delete location data:

On mobile : Tap and hold the location share message, then select Remove .

On desktop/web : Right-click the location share message, then select Remove .

Note : Exporting location data is covered in the export conversation section.

Export Reported Users

To receive an export of users you reported:

Fill out the form and enter that you would like to export your reported users data in the What do you need from the Privacy Team today? field.
