ITINERARIES

Main features, environmental stewardship.

Discover more on how the MSC Group is actively contributing to impactful environmental conservation and humanitarian programs at the MSC Foundation Centre on board.

Design features

MSC Seascape pays tribute to New York City, which as a destination represents the spirit of discovery and cultural experiences that is at the heart of the MSC Cruises guest experience. As such, the design features, public areas and venue names are inspired by the metropolitan U.S. city. These include an imposing three-metre-high replica of the Statue of Liberty at the heart of the casino and a newly designed expansive retail and entertainment area, aptly named Times Square. The main feature of this new area is an impressive 8.5 metre-high LED wall spanning four decks with a projection of the iconic skyline of this entertainment hub in Manhattan that can change from day to night.

Incanto del mare - Magic of the sea

The monumental sculpture Incanto del Mare was created for the MSC Foundation by Venini , one of the world’s most esteemed glassmakers, which celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 2021.

The sculpture rises from deck 5 through to deck 8, it sends a powerful message of care for the sea and our planet to thousands of voyagers every year, evoking the beauty and fragility of sea.

As a work of art, the creation symbolises the MSC Foundation’s dedication to protecting and promoting the natural environment of which we are a part and upon which we depend: our Planet.

MSC Seascape is the perfect location for the sculpture, bringing its message of care for the sea, which must – for our own as well as their health – be respected, maintained and nurtured.

The Marina Pool

On Deck 18, the main pool  has two different depths so that guests can choose to swim or simply stand and hang-out in the water, the newly designed area includes a 360-degree water fountain island in the centre as well as a new lounge space within the pool. It is connected with the aquapark with a Pirates Cove theme to create an extensive water area.

Outdoor Areas

At 339 metres, MSC Seascape is the longest ship in the fleet and offers 13,000sqm of outdoor space. Stand-out design features include spectacular glass-floored Bridge of Sighs located at the unique vantage point on deck 16 - 22 metres above the Infinity Pool , stunning panoramic aft elevators and stylish glass-floor catwalks on either side of the ship on the waterfront promenade.

ROBOTRON offers the breath-taking thrill of a rollercoaster at sea combined with a personalised DJ music experience. It is a state-of-the-art robotic arm with an attached gondola that seats three guests. Flying 53 metres above the sea, ROBOTRON provides a unique 360° view of the horizon flipping riders upside down and in different directions for an adrenaline-pumping ride.

Family & Kids

MSC Seascape has one of the largest kids' area of any ship in the fleet, with 703 m2 of dedicated space . The ambient has been redesigned to offer an unbeatable experience for kids. From the décor, design colors, and themes of the areas, the MSC Seascape’s Kids Club will give all children a chance to reach for the stars, thanks to a futuristic theme, dedicated to space and planetary exploration. Every cruise includes a special and unmissable event: the " LEGO® Experience On Board "- an entire day dedicated to LEGO® bricks & activities for the whole family to enjoy. While the colorful Baby Club areas are designed in partnership with Chicco  for children’s leisure. With 98 hours of live entertainment parents and children can always find something new and exciting to enjoy together!

New tech and ocean views: Take a look at MSC's new flagship Seascape

MSC Seascape is the line's new U.S. flagship.

With its new cruise ship, MSC Cruises tried to one-up itself.

MSC Seascape, the fourth vessel in the line's Seaside class and the sister ship to MSC Seashore, which launched last year. Seascape picks up where that ship left off with some striking, high-tech upgrades.

"Technology affects everything we do, and we care a lot about innovation," MSC Cruises USA President Rubén A. Rodríguez told USA TODAY.

That is evident throughout the ship, from its decor to its onboard activities. Seascape will sail its inaugural voyage from the U.S. on Sunday. As MSC has announced plans for an increased presence in the country , Seascape will serve as its new U.S. flagship, and the 20-deck vessel's debut marks an expansion of the line's stateside footprint.

Quality time at sea: Why cruises are a good option for family reunions

Here's what guests can expect.

Where will MSC Seascape sail?

The nearly 2,300-cabin Seascape will sail from Miami this weekend, where it will spend its inaugural season. The ship will offer week-long Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries – the region it was purpose-built for – with stops in destinations such as San Juan, Puerto Rico, Cozumel, Mexico and Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, the line's private island in the Bahamas.

What will MSC Seascape be like on board?

As its name would suggest, Seascape maximizes proximity to the water, with close to 140,000 square feet of outdoor space, Rodríguez said. Seascape also has a promenade measuring more than 1,700 feet long, where guests can get closer to the sea.

Like Seashore, the ship also pays homage to New York City – where many MSC guests come from – through design features like an LED wall that spans four decks featuring the skyline that changes from day to night in an entertainment and retail area named Times Square. There is also a replica of the Statue of Liberty standing nearly 10-feet high in the casino, according to the line's website .

Seascape also features a number of high-tech new features, including Robotron, a robotic arm ride where guests can choose their accompanying soundtrack and intensity level, and the arm moves in time with the music. Passengers can also try their hand at piloting an aircraft - from the safety of the ship – via a new VR flight simulator, or hit the road in VR motorcycles.

The ship has plenty of more traditional amenities too. There are six pools, including an infinity pool at the aft, a spa, and 30 restaurants, bars and lounges, like specialty venue Butcher's Cut and the Sky Bar, which has a view of the ship's glass-bottom Bridge of Sighs, according to MSC's website. Seascape also features two 20-person infinity hot tubs on either side of the deck 8 promenade.

What else do travelers need to know about MSC Seascape?

A week-long round-trip cruise from Miami departing April 9, with stops in Cozumel, George Town, Grand Cayman and more, starts at $1,136 based on double occupancy, according to the line's website . That includes most food and drinks such as regular coffee, tea and water.

Planning a cruise?: Here are the documents and costs to keep in mind

Carnival Celebration: Take a peek at the line's newest ship

Each MSC ship is designed with accessibility in mind, Rodríguez said. The entire fleet features accessible cabins, according to its website , though numbers vary by ship. Passengers can notify the line of any requirements via an online form (you can find by clicking here)  or available through accredited travel agencies. However, the line asks guests to submit the form when they book their cruise, or no less than two business days before their sailing at the latest.

MSC Seascape is the fourth ship built by Fincantieri for MSC Cruises as part of a €7bn investment package for ten ships.

The ship’s naming ceremony was held at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal in New York City, US, in December 2022 marking the official start of its inaugural season.

MSC Seascape joined MSC Seashore , its sister ship and the first Seaside EVO-class ship, which left for its maiden voyage in August 2021.

MSC Seascape design and features

With a length of 339m, MSC Seascape is the longest vessel in the fleet. The vessel has a total of 20 decks and a gross tonnage of 170,400 tonnes (t). It can accommodate 5,632 passengers and 1,648 crew members.

The ship’s overall design, public areas, and names of onboard facilities draw inspiration from New York City. The ship features a 3m-tall replica of the Statue of Liberty at the heart of its casino. The expansive Times Square retail and entertainment area features an 8.5m-high LED wall, spanning four decks, that projects the iconic skyline of Manhattan’s Times Square.

The vessel offers 13,000m² of outdoor space with design features that include a glass-floored Bridge of Sighs on deck 16, 22m above the Infinity Pool on deck eight, along with panoramic elevators at the aft of the ship. Waterfront promenades with glass floors line both sides of the ship.

Onboard accommodation

The onboard accommodation features 12 different cabin and suite categories with balconies, including coveted aft suites. The ship features a total of 2,270 cabins.

The MSC Yacht Club provides ocean views from the foredecks of the ship. It features suites in five categories.

The MSC Yacht Club Owner’s Suite on deck 19 is the largest on the vessel, with 98m² of indoor space and a 25m² balcony, which has a private whirlpool bath and outdoor living area.

Located on deck 16, the MSC Yacht Club Royal Suite provides 62m² of living space and a 33m² balcony with a private whirlpool bath and dining table.

The MSC Yacht Club Grand Suites, Deluxe Suites and Interior Suites are spread over decks 16 to 19. These suites range between 21m² and 43m², with the Grand and Deluxe suites featuring private balconies.

The two-bedroom Grand Suite Aurea rooms, located on decks 11 to 14, each provide 49m² of space with a 17m² balcony. The Grand Suite Aurea rooms on decks nine to 13 span 49m² with balconies ranging between 10m² and 21m² in size.

The Premium Suite Aurea category on decks nine to 15 has a surface area of 32m² with balconies of up to 14m². The Junior Suite Aurea, located on deck nine, is the smallest of the Aurea category rooms with a surface area of 17m² and a 16m² balcony.

The Premium Suite Aurea with Whirlpool on decks nine to 15 features 28m² of space with a 7m² balcony that features a private whirlpool bath. The Premium Suite Aurea with Terrace on deck nine has a surface area of 28m² with a large 38m² balcony.

The Deluxe Balcony Aurea and Deluxe Balcony suites on decks nine to 15 have a surface area of 17m². The Ocean View cabins on deck five feature 17m² of space while the Interior cabins have surface areas of either 14m² or 28m².

Restaurants and bars

A total of 11 eateries are featured onboard the cruise ship. The dining options include three main restaurants along with the Yacht Club restaurant, a dedicated Aurea restaurant and a 1,169-seater buffet.

The ship also features five speciality restaurants, including the Butcher’s Cut, Hola Tacos and Cantina, Ocean Cay fish restaurant, and Kaito Teppanyaki and Sushi Bar.

Guests onboard the MSC Seascape also have access to a selection of 20 distinct speciality bars, as well as a wide choice of outdoor venues.

Entertainment and other amenities

MSC Seascape features a rollercoaster at sea combined with a personalised DJ music experience known as the Robotron. The state-of-the-art robotic arm has an attached gondola with seating for three people. The Robotron arm flies 53m above the sea, flips riders upside down and in different directions, and provides a unique 360-degree view of the horizon.

The Pirates Cove Aquapark offers an expanded kids’ area and waterpark. It is equipped with VR to provide an interactive water attraction at sea. The high-tech Chora theatre features spectacular Broadway-style shows.

MSC Seascape also offers Immersive XD Cinema, a Formula Racer virtual simulator, VR motorbikes and a VR 360-degree Flight Simulator.

The Baby Club, designed in partnership with Chicco, offers activities and games for children from one to three years old.

The Mini and Junior clubs, available for children between three and 11 years of age,  include activities and events such as the LEGO Experience On Board event, which offers a day of LEGO activities for children and parents.

Two teenagers’ clubs are available for age groups 12-14 years and 15-17 years, respectively. Additionally, a teens-only area serves as a cinema, gaming room, and disco.

The Marina Pool on deck 18 is the main pool. It has two different depths, a central 360-degree water fountain island and a new lounge area located within the pool. It also connects with the aquapark, creating an extensive water area. The Jungle Pool sits below a magrodome, which can be closed to create an indoor pool area.

Guests can get wellness and beauty treatments, including Balinese massages, at the MSC Aurea spa. The facility also features a thermal area, beauty salon, and nail boutique.

Engine and emission control systems

MSC Seascape is powered by four Wartsila 14V 46F engines and has a maximum speed of 21.8 knots. The engines are equipped with selective catalytic reduction systems to achieve a 90% reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions.

The technology reduces environmental impact by converting the gas into nitrogen and water. The vessel is also equipped with a hybrid exhaust gas cleaning system to remove 98% of sulphur oxide from emissions.

The vessel features advanced waste management and ballast water treatment systems, as well as the latest technology for preventing oil discharges from machinery spaces. The ship’s wastewater treatment system is designed according to the International Maritime Organization’s MEPC 227(64) Resolution and meets higher purification standards compared to other wastewater treatment plants.

It also incorporates energy-efficient measures such as heat recovery systems and LED lighting. The ship has an underwater radiated noise management system fitted to reduce its potential effect on marine environments.

The vessel is designated as Green Plus, an environmental sustainability standard issued by the RINA certification body based on design, onboard equipment, and operational procedures.

The MSC Seascape cruise ship arrived in New York, US, after a 17-day journey from Italy for its inaugural season in December 2022. The vessel sailed to Miami, Florida, US, for its inaugural season in the Caribbean, where it offered two different seven-night itineraries.

Cool Cruiser

Does anyone know what happened to the day cruise ship Sea Escape that did day cruises out of Port Canaveral, and week end cruises to the Bahamas! It wasn't great, but it was my 1st. Would like to know what happened to it!

I believe it went "belly up" . One of the owners got into huge legal trouble with something else not related to the ship, was all over the papers but unfortunately I can't tell you specifics....you might do a websearch for the fort lauderdale sun-sentinel or miami herald. Menina

Thanks! I knew it just went away, but was wondering what happened to the boat it self, possibly a gambling ship now? It seems that it was about the size of the Sterling gambling ships!

What year was this?

SeaEscape was a fairly large company which operated many ships over the years... So I can't tell you what happened to the specific ship in question unless of course I know which it is.

If you have a year maybe I can help.

I believe that it was 1986 or 87 and sailed out of Port Canaveral. It did day trips throught out the week and week end trips to bahamas, I wish that I had could remember the ship name, maybe I can dig out the old photos and find it!

The one I am thinking of was based out of Fort Lauderdale or Miami, this was about a year or so ago when there was stuff in the papers...sorry can't help you any further! Menina

Thanks. I'll do a little looking - should be able to find out what ship you were on from that info.

SeaEscape was an interesting company with a very interesting history... I don't have the energy to get into this now. Maybe tomorrow :) .

Yes. That was the Port Everglades-based New SeaEscape Cruises, at least in theory a totally unrelated company.

The original SeaEscape folded, at least in name, in 1993.

If the ship you are referring to is the Scandinavian Sea, she was deliberately sunk as an artificial coral reef many years ago.....

Splatitudes

There's a current SeaEscape atill operating here out of Port Everglades with daily casino junkets... not sure of the relation to the past SE's or what the ships' lineage is...

KillaFee

I can't believe I stumbled upon this SeaEscape thing! It was my first cruise too when I was younger. I went on it two or three times because we used to live in Florida for the winter. I still have a hurricane glass that I won playing some game....hehe. They were sometimes parked near another defunct company called Dolphin cruises and I remember thinking how big they were when in reality they were like like little cabin cruisers compared to the mega ships of today. Okay I'm done being nostalgic I'm too young to be acting like this.

zackiedawg

Splatitudes,

The current Sea Escae casino ship running out of Port Everglades is a former Russian ship, probably 30-35 years old. I went on that casino ship a few years ago as an office party, and wandered around checking out the ship...all the doors, bulkheads, etc were written in Russian cyrillic. Not sure where it was built, as I couldn't get to any manufacturer plates...maybe Russian or Finnish shipyard? I'm not sure if this is the one of the same boats that used to cruise under the Sea Escape name...but if it helps Host Doug with his research, I can verify the Russian former use of this ship!

Funny...I'm such a ship lover that while everyone else is gambling, and some commented on the ugly, rundown, rusting, badly maintained hulk...I'm walking around hallways and outer promenades analyzing the construction and predicting the age and origins of the boat!

The present SeaEscape ship is ISLAND ADVENTURE, built in 1975 as KAZAKHSTAN for Black Sea Shipping Company, the Odessa-based subsidiary of the Soviet state shipping company Morflot (the seagoing equivalent of Aeroflot - Morflot = Sea Fleet; Aeroflot = Air Fleet). She was built at Wartsila in Finland (now Aker Finnyards, before that Kvaerner Masa-Yards) and was one of the five BELORUSSIYA-class ships, designed for use as both cruise ships for the Soviet and Western markets and as ferries for use on Soviet and international routes. She kept her original name until 1994 when she was renamed UKRANIA, becoming ROYAL SEAS in 1996 and UKRAINE in 1997 before going to New SeaEscape as ISLAND ADVENTURE in 1998. She was never affiliated with the original SeaEscape to my knowledge.

Because they were designed for potential use as cruise ships for Western passengers, these ships were built to a rather high standard. If you want to compare her interior appearance then and now, there are some excellent interior photos of a BELORUSSIYA-class ship (probably BELORUSSIYA) here . The site is in Swedish and there are three pages of photos; click "Nasta" at the bottom of each page to go to the next page.

Hope this helps.

have you ever felt "up to" posting about the long and winding history of Sea Escape? :)

have you ever felt "up to" posting about the long and winding history of Sea Escape?

Not now. Really, most any other time, I'd have obliged (I have to admit that I forgot about it entirely and even made another post on this thread without remembering!), but not tonight. I just got home a few hours ago from a flight from Ft. Lauderdale that took three hours and twelve minutes - I mean three hours and twelve minutes in the air for a flight that in reality is maybe, a 2 1/2 hour flight. And that's ignoing the fact that we left over two hours late. From the time I boarded that blasted airplane until the time I got off was over five hours, to get home from Florida ! And to top it off we had a screaming baby in the row behind us, and I didn't sleep well last night, and... Well you get the picture. I'm half asleep already and going to have an early night, during which I will probably have nightmares about being stuck in an airplane for the rest of my life ;) .

On the other hand, my car service driver was going to pick up some people flying on a different flight from Ft. Lauderdale to NYC which was four hours late and counting... So I guess at only a little over three hours late, I was lucky.

Anyway, I will tell the story another day, I really will. Apologies for forgetting earlier - I even made another post on this thread and still didn't remember. I must be losing my mind...

Kimcruisegirl

I SOOOOO remember Sea Escape, I never went on one, but when I was a little girl, they actually flew over Orlando and dropped 10000's of beach balls with the name and logo in the air and one landed in our property.... I was sooo excited..... I remember I used to sing the Sea Escape jingle! LOL HAA HAA

the current Sea Escape jingle may be the very thing that drives me to madness.... ;)

My first cruise was on the Scandinavian Sun (Sea Escape) it was the inagural out of Miami to Freeport. It was a 24hr cruise.

jemingway

I have been on many of the SeaEscape day and night cruises with both the old and new company. It has always left a lot to be desired.:( Better than nothing, however.:p

We went on the sea escape last weekend for a "day out for kidney patients", (my grandmother is on dialysis) ...It was awful...They have one elevator that has enough room to fit, and I am not exagerating, 3 people in it..in order to get my grandfather, who is wheelchair bound, up a level we actually had to remove the feet from the chair and push him up against the back wall then send him up by himself while we ran up the stairs to get him on the next floor, he could not go out to the pool, or sit on any decks outside because of the raised door ways, abd forget taking him to the bathroom...my father and a crew member had to carry him in. I called a few days later just to see what they would say if I asked about handicapped accessibility and was told they were definately accessible..what a joke!

I remember sailing on SeaEscape's Scandinavian Saga in 1989. She ran 4 night Cruise from Tampa to Cozumel every 28 days. If your expectations were at the appropriate level you could have a good time. I think she was a converted ferry from Europe.

We ran into a cold front dipping South into the Gulf on the return trip in December 1989. It was quite a rough ride. I had not seen so many green people since they colorized the Munsters:D . The ship was decorated for Christmas and by the time we made it back to Tampa, most of the Christmas trees and other decorations had hit the deck. I would say overall it was fun trip. A nice and "cheap" getaway. I think the fare was $350 for two people if I remember correctly.

I think the fare was $350 for two people if I remember correctly.

Of course, accounting for inflation, today you could pay about the same today and take a similar cruise in a shiny new Carnival or RCI megaship!

Amazing how cheap cruises really are today considering what you get... What modern ships might lack in personality, they sure do make up for in value!

There is a SeaEscape in Ft Lauderdale with 2 cruises to nowhere daily. I have never done it so I am not sure how fun it is.

I've done it. It's mediocre at best.

I'm working on a scrapbook for my mom who has alzheimers and came across a picture of mom and some friends on the seaescape Scandanavian Sky. The date on the photo is 1986. Anyone have an idea of where they might have gone?

twice today I have seen mention of SeaEscape....this is exciting.....my daughter (then about five) and I took a 24 hour cruise out of Tampa.....a wonderful way to spend the day.....the kids flew kites off the back of the ship with help from the kids club staff...there was clay pigeon shooting off the back of the ship as well......MEMORIES....

14 Simple Ways to Escape the Crowd on a Cruise Ship

D o you love to cruise but hate the crowd? The good news is there are ways to escape the crowd at the cruise. The key to escaping the crowd is to do the opposite from what most people are doing. Here are cruise tips on how to escape the crowd at a cruise ship.

How to Escape the Crowd at a Cruise Ship

1. avoid the buffet at embarkation day.

The buffet is the busiest place on embarkation day, and everyone will be heading there after checking in at the port. It will be difficult to find a table for your group due to the large crowds. And, since your room may not be ready, most people end up hanging out at the buffet long after they finish their lunch.

For a less crowded environment, avoid the buffet on embarkation day and look for another place to have lunch. The main dining room is usually open for lunch during embarkation day (but with limited hours), and some of the dining areas near the lobby will also be open for lunch. Head over there instead to escape the crowd!

2. Avoid Big Cruise Parties

Cruise lines typically throw large parties. Most cruise lines have sail away parties on the deck which is a large dance party as you sail away. Depending on the cruise line, there are also large cruise parties such as White Parties or Super Bowl Parties. If you don’t like the crowd, definitely stay away from these large cruise parties.

3. Book a Suite

If you have the budget for it and prefer a more exclusive experience, booking a suite on a cruise is a great option. Suites usually come with a host of perks, such as skipping the embarkation line, access to suite-only lounges, private suite pools, and private dining rooms for suite guests only. These VIP areas are away from the crowd and offer a more intimate and luxurious experience.

4. Get Access to the Thermal Spa

If you’re looking for a less expensive way to escape the crowd, consider getting access to the thermal spa. Some cruises sell thermal spa day passes or you can buy access for the entire cruise. This gives you access to the spa’s lounge which has jacuzzis, steam rooms, salt rooms, and more, without the crowd. You can enjoy the hot tub in peace!

5. Find a Quiet Corner

If you’re looking for a quiet spot to relax and read a book, it’s best to avoid the busy parts of the cruise ship, such as the lobby, the buffet, casino, and the pool area. Instead, wander around the ship and look for a club or lounge that is not being used and empty because it’s daytime. You’ll be able to find a peaceful spot to unwind and enjoy your book.

6. Avoid the Theater Area after a Show

To avoid the crowds, check the cruise planner to know when the show ends. Typically, there are two shows per night. After the show, make sure to avoid the theater area, including the elevator and stairwell closest to the theater.

People will be standing around waiting for the elevator or trying to walk down the stairs, which can be quite crowded. That’s why I prefer to stay far away from the theater after a show.

7. Stay on the Ship During Port Days

Another way to avoid the crowds is to stay on board during port days. Most people will get off the ship early and spend all day at the port, leaving the ship empty by late morning. This is a great time to visit the buffet, which will be less crowded, and to use the pool and hot tub without having to share them with others.

Check out: 11 Most Annoying People to Avoid on a Cruise

8. Enjoy your Balcony

If you are in a balcony room, an easy way to escape the crowd is to lounge in your balcony. Order room service for breakfast and enjoy your morning in your private balcony, away from the buffet crowd!

9. Dine at Specialty Dining on the First Day

Most people will not be dining at the specialty dining restaurants on their first day. That’s the best day to go, it will be less crowded and also sometimes cruise lines will give special perks on the first day (like a free bottle of wine!)

10. Request a Quiet Table in the Corner

At the main dining room, request a quiet table in the corner. That way, you are away from the main dining room area where it tends to be noisy with big tables and large groups.

11. Don’t Cruise During Peak Season

Cruise ships will be busiest during peak season that coincides with school holidays such as summer, Christmas, Spring Break and New Year’s. You will see big groups of families cruising together. If you want to avoid the crowd and kids, don’t cruise during the peak season. Cruise in the Fall when kids are back in school!

Check out: 11 Anti-Theft Cruise Tips that Every Cruiser Needs to Know

12. Go on Long Cruises

Most people can’t take the days off to go on cruises longer than 7 days. That means these long cruises will be less crowded. If you can, try to go on longer cruises 10 days or more. You will avoid the crowd and there will be fewer kids on the ship.

13. Wake Up Early

If you are an early riser, a great way to escape the crowd is to be up early. The buffet will be empty if you’re there before 8am and you can enjoy the peace and quiet.

Check out: How Cruise Lines Trick You Into Spending More Money: 12 Sneaky Ways

14. Avoid the Pool on Sea Days

The pool is the busiest place on the cruise ship on sea days, and it can be hard to find a lounge chair. The hot tub is also likely to be crowded. If you want to take a dip during sea days, go early before 8am or in the late afternoon to early evening when everyone is getting ready for dinner or having dinner.
