Short Trips is a series of three missions available in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of The Contract update.

2 players are required for each of these missions.

On first playthrough, the first tip is initiated by Franklin Clinton passing on an invitation from Dr. Dre to undertake a tour of Record A Studios . Players can invite an associate to join them as they enter the studio. After meeting Franklin and Lamar Davis inside, they take a short tour led by DJ Pooh . The players find the smoking room and sit down to smoke LD Organics weed, and are joined by Pooh, Franklin, and Lamar.

They then pass out and the player and their associate have an "out-of-body experience [1] ", where the host will control Franklin and the second player will control Lamar.

The second and third trip and subsequent trip replays are initiated by the host entering the studio, using the green Corona outside the smoking room, and then smoking the Special Strain.

In all missions, the players will not have access to their own weapons on the weapon wheel nor any of their armor, instead having a pre-defined weapon and ammo load-outs, but they will have access to their character's inventory of snacks via the Interaction Menu .

These missions initially became available to leaders after completing the The Contract: Dr. Dre , however with effect from the Valentine's Day 2022 event week [2] all players could access the missions immediately from the Pause Menu >Online> Play Job > Rockstar Created > Missions or Quick Job from their Mobile Phone , and they do not need to be completed sequentially. The Game description in the pause menu indicated the Rank requirement was 9999, however this is a display issue only, and all players from Rank 1 can launch the jobs.

To change the difficulty from the default setting of "Normal" to "Hard" players must first complete the mission concerned without any failure and they will then be able to change it via the Interaction Menu in the Smoking Room when replaying it. Restarting the game will reset the difficulty back to "Normal".

Lamar pulls Franklin out to deal with some business and ask DJ Pooh to look after his partners for them. Franklin and Lamar travel to LD Organics to restock from his weed supply. When they reach the warehouse, Lamar discovers that it was being raided by the Vagos. After fighting off the gang members outside and inside, they leave to find Lamar's Mule loaded with stock is being taken and fight to get the truck back.

Short Trip - Fire It Up [ ]

Lamar asks for Franklin's assistance in storming the Vagos' weed storage facilities in Blaine County and destroying their marijuana plants as payback for them having destroyed his stash and the Mule.

Short Trip - OG Kush [ ]

Main article: Short Trip - OG Kush

Lamar starts by showing Franklin his new LD Organics van which he explains is made of "LD Organics patented marijuana bioplastic", and tells Franklin that he was able to make a connection with a celebrity ( Jimmy Boston from the Epsilon Program ) to promote LD Organics as having a celebrity would definitely make the brand into a big thing and they travel to the Redwood Lights Track to make the deal. The Vagos storm the deal due to Lamar publicising the "top-secret location" on Snapmatic . After fighting off the Vagos, the pair drive the increasingly damaged weed-van back to the city and end up at Tequi-la-la .

• Sometimes, after completing a Short Trip mission, the player might retain the Franklin/Lamar model when they return to Freeroam . Dying in this state will turn the player invisible when they respawn.
• After completing a Short Trip mission, a customized radio wheel may be scrambled with stations excluded or added back in, to no stations showing up at all. Within the session, the solution is to go Inventory > Radio Station Favorites and reconfirm each choice, which will reset each station. Changing sessions will also reset the radio wheel to normal.
• Due to this, it is recommended to do the first Short Trip mission as soon as it becomes available. Leaving Grand Theft Auto Online will reset the mission marker and require the player to wait for the second phone call all over again.
• This issue was likely the reason the missions were unlocked on February 10th 2022 for all players via the Pause Menu and Quick Job.

How to play GTA Online Short Trips with Franklin and Lamar

How to start the GTA Online Short Trips Franklin and Lamar missions

In the GTA Online Short Trips, you switch from your regular avatar to become Franklin Clinton or Lamar Davies and take on three drug-fuelled story missions. You'll need a friend to go on these adventures with as they're cooperative so can't be taken on solo, though the matchmaking option is available if you need to find a buddy to participate with. Introduced as part of the GTA Online The Contract update, it's interesting to consider that technically these Short Trips are the first new story content centered around a main GTA 5 character since the game first launched in 2013! Finding and starting these co-op missions in GTA Online can be tricky, so here's everything you need to know about the Short Trips missions in GTA Online with Franklin and Lamar.

How to play GTA Online Short Trips

Originally, if you wanted to play the GTA Online Short Trips then you had to finish the full Dr Dre storyline of The Contract first, at which point you'd receive an invitation to visit the GTA Online Record A Studios and open up the option to initiate these missions. That's now changed, as all players can trigger them by going through the Jobs Menu, though the exact route isn't obvious at first. Go to Online > Play Job > Rockstar Created > Missions then scroll all the way down until you find the GTA Online Short Trips options. Pick the mission you want to play, then you'll be whisked away to matchmaking to get partnered up with another player – these are co-op activities so you can't fly solo.

What are the GTA Online Short Trips Franklin and Lamar missions

There are three different GTA Online Short Trips missions in total, obviously all revolving around the weed business with Franklin and Lamar's attempts to consolidate their position in the game. The story themes for each of them should play out in the following order:

GTA Online Short Trips - Seed Capital

Franklin and Lamar head to LD Organics to stock up on merchandise, but discover the warehouse is being raided by Vagos gang members. After fighting them all off, the pair spot Lamar's truck being driven away slowly so jump in the back, then the driver tips off the Vagos to cue up some vehicle combat. Following a final alleyway shootout, they recover the truck and return it to the warehouse.

GTA Online Short Trips - Fire It Up

Seeking revenge, Franklin and Lamar head out to the Vagos' weed storage in Blaine County, racing Franklin's motorcycle against Lamar's upgraded car on the way. After fighting off gang members at the first warehouse, they use fertilizer to burn the weed supplies before moving on to a second warehouse to repeat the process, commandeering a Technical (pickup truck with a mounted machine gun) to deal with many enemy vehicles. With both warehouse supplies destroyed, they steal a Vagos van and drive it back to Franklin's house while fighting off more gang members.

GTA Online Short Trips - OG Kush

Lamar sets up a promotional deal meeting for LD Organics with Jimmy Boston of the Epsilon Program, using a van that's literally 'made of weed', and asks Franklin to provide support. When they arrive at the 'secret' meeting place (which Lamar has inadvertently revealed via a Snapmatic post), Franklin climbs a crane to provide sniper cover and soon spots a large number of Vagos arriving. After dealing with the gang members the pair attempt to drive the van back to LD Organics, but discover it is on fire and they're getting high from the fumes. Realizing they won't make it back to the warehouse, they instead head to Tequi-la-la to try and gain publicity for the brand, and despite crashing outside the ruse works to raise the profile of their business.

How to Complete Short Trips in GTA V Online

Short Trips is a collection of fun story-based missions in which you and a friend get to play as Franklin and Lamar getting into all kinds of drug-related hijinx.

You'll get GTA$ 50,000 each time you complete a Short Trip mission, plus a bonus of GTA$ 100,000 the first time you complete one as each character. That means if you go play through all three twice right now, once as each character, you're in for GTA$ 900,000 in-pocket.

Most of this is pretty straight-forward, but if you want some extra help or just want to read a full walkthrough, you've come to the right place.

Before you go on, there are a few things to note about Short Trips:

• In order to play you MUST have another player.
• You will not have any of your regular guns or armor. Snacks, however, you will still be able to use so be sure to stock up.

How to Start Short Trips

Short trip - seed capital, short trip - fire it up, short trip - og kush.

It used to be that in order to unlock Short Trips you had to own an Agency and complete the VIP Contract with Dr. Dre . That's no longer the case.

Now you can also initiate Short Trips by going to the Pause Menu > Online > Jobs > Play Job > Rockstar Created > Missions > Short Trip (whichever one you wish to play). All players, no matter their rank, can initiate a Short Trip, even though it says it unlocks at rank 9999.

One thing that hasn't changed is that in order to play Short Trips you MUST play with one other player . So grab a friend or meet someone new and get started!

Franklin and Lamar find themselves driving into an ambush--Someone is trying to steal their stash! You must do your best to fight them off and protect your property.

Walkthrough:

• The mission starts with a tour of Dr. Dre's studio. After a long cutscene your characters will smoke some strong weed and have an out-of-body experience, becoming Franklin and Lamar.
• Once you're Franklin and Lamar, get into the car and follow the waypoint.
• When you arrive you'll find an aggressive gang waiting.
• The best way to go about taking them out is for one player to make their way down the alley, hiding behind garbage cans, etc., and the other to go around to the right. This way the enemies will be focused on the first player and the second can take them out while taking very little heat.
• Once everyone outside is toast, be sure to go take all their guns and bullets before you run inside, but keep your pistols equipped for now.
• Inside there will be four more enemies. Kill them easily with your pistols, then run around the room and get extra gear; Guns, bullets, and a first aid kit should be in the shelves. Equip your best weapons for the next part.
• You'll watch another long cutscene, after which you'll have to shoot at moving cars outside the back of a truck. You can't move or hide during this segment--All you can do is aim, shoot, and eat snacks. We recommend keeping your snack menu open so you can eat at any time while shooting.
• Shoot enough to stay alive until the truck parks at its destination.
• This is the final part, in which you'll need to take out more enemies and make your way to the driver of the truck, marked with a red dot.
• The driver will spawn in a different location each time you play, but is most likely on a rooftop somewhere. Watch for ladders and stairs to climb up.
• Once you kill him, grab the keys and you're done.

In this one Franklin and Lamar head out to destroy the product of a rival. You can initiate the mission by entering the Recording Studio after having completed Seed Capital , or by going through the Jobs menu as described above.

• You'll start out as Franklin and Lamar in front of the studio.
• Take the car and the motorcycle to the way point. You can race if you want, but the game will move into a cut scene whenever the first person arrives.
• Be sure to equip your guns as soon as you arrive as you'll only have knives equipped and there are enemies nearby.
• Walk toward the weed warehouse and kill enemies as you go.
• Once everyone is killed, go inside the warehouse where there will be one more to kill.
• Next, grab the fertilizer, pour it around all the weed plants, then shoot fertilizer puddles to light it.
• When the product is destroyed, head back outside where more enemies will be waiting.
• A Karin Technical will drive up. Shoot the guy on the gun and the driver, then steal the vehicle with one of you on the gun. There will be a lot of enemies to take out.
• The best way to go about driving to the next location is to take a detour. This way you won't run into any roadblocks of enemies on the way and in general you'll have less at a time.
• When you arrive at the second warehouse, just keep driving if there are a lot of enemies around. You can circle around several times, taking them out, until it seems safe enough to stop.
• When you're ready, head into the second warehouse.
• There won't be anyone waiting in this one so just destroy the product, then steal the van and head out.
• There will be more enemies on the drive and they'll be very good at maneuvering in your way. Keep going and make sure whoever's riding shotgun is doing their job.
• Once you reach the city the enemies will disappear and you can drive the rest of the way in peace to Franklin's place.

In the third and final Short Trip Lamar has a business prospect to check out and needs Franklin to come along and watch his back. You can initiate the mission by entering the Recording Studio after having completed Fire It Up , or by going through the Jobs menu as described above.

• Once again Franklin and Lamar start outside the studio. This time Lamar is showing off his fancy new van.
• Drive the van to the waypoint destination. On the way Franklin will be dropped off to stake out with a sniper on the top of a crane.
• Watch the cutscene, then be ready to fight. Lots of enemies will arrive right after the scene.
• After several waves of enemies, a helecopter will also arrive. Lamar is fairly exposed so try to take it out quickly.
• Take out all the enemies, then get back in the van.
• As you drive away, a lot more enemies will try to stop you on the road. Meanwhile, the potmobile you're driving will start smoking and get Franklin and Lamar high AF.
• Eventually the enemies will drop off and when you arrive at the waypoint you're done. Enjoy the cutscene!

GTA Online Short Trips co-op story opened to all players

Originally only available after completing recent The Contract content, any GTA player can now take on a co-op story featuring Franklin and Lamar.

Lamar was a pretty notable character in the main story of Grand Theft Auto 5 as one of Franklin’s closest confidantes from his original neighborhood. Even in the time since the game came out, many probably remember Lamar from his often-memed smack talk at Franklin on the latter’s front porch. With Franklin having moved up and taken a front role in the recent GTA Online story content, Lamar also came back with a story of his own, but you had to earn it through playing The Contract. Now, anyone can take on the Short Trips co-op missions and check out the latest story as they play as Franklin or Lamar.

Rockstar announced the opening of the Short Trips co-op story to all players in a Rockstar Newswire post on February 11, 2022. As of a new update, players can now jump right into the Short Trips co-op story from the Jobs menu in GTA Online. Previously, this chapter was only playable after players had completed the story missions in The Contract content, which featured Dr. Dre .

Short Trips brings us back to what’s going on with Lamar in the ongoing narrative. Have made moves to position himself in the business of legal marijuana dispensary, Lamar is aiming to move up just like Franklin did. Unfortunately, even with cannabis legalized, illegal drug dealers haven’t gone away so much as changed their game to undercut legit business. With that, Lamar calls in favors from Franklin to aid him in getting his business off the ground and keep illicit competition from choking him out of the game. Short Trips is a series of co-op story missions casting players in the role of either Lamar or Franklin and can now be played without any prerequisites.

'GTA Online The Contract' Short Trips Co-Op Missions Guide: Where to Find Record A Studios, How to Clear the Missions

Grand Theft Auto Online 's " The Contract " Expansion added in new in-game content to the online multiplayer open-world action-adventure game.

This included celebrity cameos and a post-launch Radio Station update, which contains a new investable business, as well as other new narrative content.

Another new in-game addition to Grand Theft Online courtesy of the said Expansion is a set of Co-Op Missions called " Short Trip ," where players need to go to Record A Studios and accomplish them to get rewards.

Locating Records A Studios

In order to start the " Short Trip " Co-Op Missions in Grand Theft Auto Online , they need to find the Records A Studios first. According to realsport101.com , the said recording studio is in the Rockford Hills.

To get there, according to Sportskeeda , they need to head towards the Mad Wayne Thunder Drive, which is west of Los Santos, then once they are in the Rockford Hills, they will need to go to southeast of a golf country club until they saw the Record A Studios, which is right next to the Mors Mutual Insurance.

The said studio, however, is locked. But according to Gamesradar , in order to gain access to it, they need to complete all of the Story Missions that The Contract offers.

Completing them will solidify their relationship with Dr. Dre, which will trigger a moment where Franklin calls them to go to the studios and join in for a tour around it.

In the same invitation, according to FTW , he also asks them to bring a "friend," which means they need to call in their in-game buddies to help them with the missions.

How to Clear the Missions

Once the player and its partner of choice are inside the studios, it will now trigger the first of the three " Short Trip " Co-Op Missions, which is called " Seed Capital ." They can now also switch between Franklin and Lamar in the said studio.

In Seed Capital , according to Sportskeeda , both Franklin and Lamar need to go to the latter's warehouse where his cannabis storage was kept. The said warehouse is a long ride from the Record A Studios, and it will be indicated with a yellow marker.

As they are approaching the warehouse, according to GTA Series Videos' YouTube video , they will be in a middle of the gunfight, where the Los Santos Vagos are trying to gun them down. They need to fire back while traversing their car to the warehouse.

Once they cleared the area, they will get inside of the warehouse, where they need to gun down more Vagos members. Afterwards, a cutscene will be played, revealing a truck was stolen, then the two chased it until they got inside.

After the cutscene, they will encounter other Vagos members firing at them from their low riders, vans, and motorcycles, which they need to gun down while they are inside the truck.

Once they are out of the truck, they will gun down the rest of the gang members while they are trying to pin down the driver in order to get the keys for the stolen van.

Once they got the keys, they can now clear the area. Afterwards, a cutscene will be played, telling them that the first mission is cleared.

For the second one, which is called " Fire It Up ," they both need to go to the Blaine Country to fight back the Vagos after what happened in the first mission. In another video , they need to go to the Sandy Shores while racing against each other to see who goes first the fastest.

Once they are in the area, they will go towards the weed storage while sneak attacking the gang members who are guarding there using either a knife or a pistol with a silencer.

Once they are inside, they need to destroy the cannabis plantation by getting a blue bottle full of gasoline, emptying its contents, and firing it up with pistol shots.

After burning the weed inside, they must leave the storage while fending off the attacks from the Vagos. The better way to do this is to get in a pick-up truck that has a machine gun in it. They can also use this truck to get to another weed storage, where they will do the same thing they did to the first one.

Once they burned the second weed storage, they need drive as fast as they can towards Franklin's house, while defending themselves from the gunfire from the gang members.

Once they are in the area, a cutscene will play, which includes a callback from the famous scene in Grand Theft Auto V which also involves Franklin and Lamar.

Finally, in the third mission, called " OG Kush ," they need to set a deal with Jimmy Boston from the Epsilon Program , a religious cult from Grand Theft Auto IV , which is in a dirt bike track in the Blaine County.

Once they are in the area, according to another video from GTA Series Videos' YouTube channel, the one controlling Franklin will go to the crane to watch over the deal between the one controlling Lamar and Boston. They will also act as snipers in case something happens.

As they are going on with the trade, Vagos came to the area and attacking them just to steal the weed from Lamar.

From there, they will fend off their attacks, including a chopper attack from above. Once they cleared the area, they will need to hop in the van, then they will go to the LD Organics compound while defending themselves against Vagos' attacks.

As they are firing them, their gunfire lit up the weed in the truck, giving them a psychedelic visual, while changing their destination to Tequi-la-la.

Once they have crashed the van in the destination, a cutscene will be played, showing Lamar promoting his company. This will signify the end of the third mission, and telling them that they have cleared the " Short Trips " Co-Op Missions.

Dr. Dre’s missions make up the main story of The Contract and the aforementioned Short Trips missions were introduced as part of the update as side missions that were only accessible once the player completed the update’s main story.

The Short Trips missions are two-player co-op missions starring Franklin and his best friend Lamar Davis. The missions revolve around Lamar following in Franklin’s footsteps and attempting to set up a legitimate business of his own. Lamar calls in Franklin to help deal with a few issues that’s stopping his business from getting off the ground. While beating Franklin and Lamar’s Short Trips missions isn’t too difficult and doesn’t take too long, they’re definitely a fun and interesting break from the rest of the update’s content. Currently, there are only three Short Trips missions available in the game so far, although it wouldn’t be impossible for Rockstar Games to add more in the future.

GTA Online developer and publisher Rockstar Games has announced that the Short Trips missions are now available to all players and are easily accessible via the game’s Jobs Menu. Additionally, to celebrate the content’s wider availability, the Short Trips missions will be paying out twice the amount of GTA$ and RP until February 16, 2022. Rockstar Games also released a new trailer for the side content, which features music from NEZ and ScHoolboy Q. Similar to GTA Online ’s Dr. Dre soundtrack , the new musical track included in the trailer, called “ Let’s Get It ,” will be available in-game and will also be released on music download and streaming services soon.

Rockstar Games didn’t reveal why it decided to make the Short Trips missions accessible to all but it’s likely that it’s part of the company's future content plans for The Contract update, which has now been out for almost two months. It’s possible that the studio may either have more Short Trips missions scheduled for release or it's working on a completely new set of story-based content for The Contract update. Just last month, Rockstar released an update that added GTA Online ’s new Double Down adversary mode .

In spite of how few and short they are, being able to access the Short Trips missions without having to go through the entirety of The Contract update’s main story is definitely a plus for players. And being able to get double the rewards is a great bonus and incentive to finish them soon.

Rockstar Games has announced that Grand Theft Auto Online will be unlocking access to a series of side missions that were previously only available when completing a different event earlier in the game. The mission, called Short Trips , is one of the game's few multiplayer activities that only puts two GTA Online players together , as opposed to grabbing groups of four like the popular heists.

Previously, the Short Trips mission was only available as a part of the quest, The Contract , which tasked players to hunt down music hidden by Dr. Dre in Grand Theft Auto Online . So, this new access means that players won't be required to finish these previous missions in order to take on the tasks set out by Short Trips and walk away with a few special rewards.

The mission itself will only be made available for a limited time, starting from when Rockstar first announced the easier access early February 11th, through February 16th. While playing Short Trips , groups of two players will be given control of the characters Franklin and Lamar, previously seen in San Andreas and coming to Los Santos as part of Grand Theft Auto Online . That makes this an exceedingly rare mission for the online title, as players won't be either their own customizable character or the three main protagonists from the connected Grand Theft Auto V .

In addition to making this mission available, players will also earn extra rewards in the form of double cash and RP for finding and completing Short Trips before February 16th. So, not only do all players now have easy access to a story-heavy activity in Grand Theft Auto Online , but also an extra incentive to go jump in with a friend and play the roles of Franklin and Lamar. However, the limited-time nature of this access does mean that players will have to act fast in order to take Rockstar up on this offer to get a free look at this unique content.

There is currently a laundry list of things to do in GTA Online , from story missions to public challenges, but there is no such thing as too much content for this type of living game. This makes the reintroduction of Short Trips and other pieces of side content all the more welcome, especially to new players who might be a ways off from access to the mission otherwise. Hopefully, this new availability can also show that smaller story content than just more heists are also among what fans have been looking for and could lead to similar new missions releasing in the future.

Grand Theft Auto Online is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release set to release March 15th.

GTA 5 and Online will receive a boost in graphical quality on the PS5 and Series X|S. There will be three graphics modes: Fidelity Mode, Performance Mode, and a hybrid Performance RT Mode. Fidelity Mode will offer 4K with raytracing at 30fps on PS5 and Series X and upscaled 4K on Series S. In Performance Mode, players will get upscaled 4K with 60fps on PS5 and Series X (with 1080p on Series S). Performance RT is the middle ground between Fidelity and Performance, and offers upscaled 4K resolution with ray tracing at 60fps.

Players can also try out a new mode, GTA Online's Career Builder , for a little extra cash. Just like the mode's name indicates, players choose a criminal career path--like Executive or Nightclub owner--and in return, receive $4 million GTA cash to aid in getting the criminal enterprise up and running.
