Taylor Swift Proves Third Time’s the Charm With ‘Last Kiss’ Performance

By Althea Legaspi

Althea Legaspi

Taylor Swift performed “Last Kiss” as one of her surprise acoustic songs last night, July 8, during her second of two consecutive nights of her Eras tour at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. It was a fitting choice as she just released Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) on Friday and the breakup song hails from the original LP culled in 2010.

Given it has been a long while since Swift dusted off that track for a live rendition, it’s understandable that she forgot the lyrics, having to start the song a couple of times. “Oh my God,” she exclaimed as she realized she had skipped over a few lines on the first try. “We have this rule on this tour where if I mess up a song then I have to play it again some other time on the tour, just so I can avenge myself.”

Kyle gass deletes donald trump apology post following tenacious d fallout, ariana madix sued over sandwich shop, two days after tom sandoval lawsuit, inside the maga asylum: four days of worship with the cult of trump.

“I swear I will not mess this up again!,” she laughed, along with the audience. “Oh my God, this one, I love this one, why am I doing this to this song?” Thankfully, the third time was the charm, and she delivered it flawlessly on the third try as fan footage showcased. She also debuted “Dorothea” live for the first time on Saturday.

Her Kansas City run included other surprises, which didn’t involve any memory lapse. On Friday, she premiered the video for Speak Now “From the Vault” song “ I Can See You .” Directed and written by Swift, the visual stars Taylor Lautner, Joey King, and Presley Cash, all of whom joined her on stage Friday to debut the video.

Taylor Swift says Eras Tour concerts at Arrowhead Stadium were ‘unfathomably special’

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - It was a pair of concerts unlike anything Kansas City has ever experienced.

Thousands of Swifties jammed into Arrowhead Stadium on Friday and Saturday to witness, sing along and revel in the 3+ hour performance by one of (if not the) biggest name currently in music.

Taylor Swift posted to social media following the Eras Tour performances, reflecting on the two shows she put on:

“It was a Speak Now (my version) album release party at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City this weekend, full of surprises 😆 I got to premiere the video for ‘I Can See You’ on the big screen and hearing the crowd’s reaction to it is something I’ll never forget. THEN @joeyking @taylorlautner and @helloimpresleycash walked on stage (and there were even a few flips??) to say hi to everyone. I got to play Long Live with my incredible band (who are the ones playing on all my re-records too) and it was just so unfathomably special to me. Singing those words in a stadium full of people who helped me get my music back. Love you all 💜💜💜 See you very soon, Denver!”

The pop-music juggernaut that is a Taylor Swift concert rolled into GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium for the first of two night Friday. With a nearly-four-hour set, Swift also rewarded her loyal fans - Swifties - with a music video debut and appearances by the video's stars.

Singer Katie Gavin of Muna takes to the stage with confidence and energy, both fully on display Friday at the first of two nights in Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium as part of Taylor Swift's "The Eras Tour."

Singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams got Friday's show at GEHA Field in Kansas City off to a high-flying good time as part of Taylor Swift's ongoing "Eras Tour."

CONCERT REVIEW: Taylor Swift's 'Eras Tour' heats up in Kansas City, includes video debut

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — About halfway through her "Eras Tour," Taylor Swift brought the massive production to the home of the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday and Saturday.

The concert was an epic night as the country-superstar-turned-pop-icon performed for nearly four hours with only a few brief interludes for wardrobe or set changes. Along with taking a trip through Swift's 17-year career, Friday's show also served as an impromptu release party for the "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)," which released Friday.

Because of issues with ownership for her original recordings, Swift is in the process of re-recording her first six albums as a way to reclaim her ownership. "Speak Now," originally released in 2010, is the third album in that process.

As a treat for the roughly 70,000 Swifties (as her fans are known) in attendance, Friday's concert featured the debut of a music video for the single "I Can See You." The video, written and directed by Swift, featured actors Joey King, Presley Cash, and Taylor Lautner. After the video premiere, Swift brought all three out on stage with her to thunderous roars from the crowd that would rival anything heard in the stadium on an NFL Sunday.

As she's done with other stops of the tour, Swift includes a couple surprise songs in the set along with all the big hits. Friday night those songs included the live-performance debut of "When Emma Falls In Love" along with "Never Grow Up" played live for the first time since 2018.

The show was broken into sets based on Swift's discography. Opening with a half dozen songs from "Lover" and then moving into the "Fearless" album. Throughout the night, the crowd sang along to nearly every number from "Look What You Made Me Do" and "Bad Blood" to "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and "Shake It Off."

In total, the Friday night show featured 45 songs from Swift on top of two opening sets.

The evening was launched under the July sun with a strong six-song set from up-and-coming singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams. On the road supporting her first full-length album, "Good Riddance," as well as two EPs, "Minor" and "This Is What It Feels Like."

L.A.-based pop-rockers Muna took the number two slot on the bill, marking their 10th year as a band. Singer Katie Gavin, along with Josette Maskin and Naomi McPherson, form the core of the band, with bassist Brian Robert Jones and drummer Scott Heiner rounding out the band. The high-energy set was a perfect fit leading into the headline act of the show.

"The Eras Tour" will host a second show Saturday on GEHA FIeld at Arrowhead Stadium before heading out for two-night stops in Denver, Seattle, and Santa Clara, then wrapping up the US run of shows with six nights at SoFi Stadium near Los Angeles. The tour then packs up for a year-long international tour.

More photos from Friday's concert will be added soon at whig.com .

Taylor Swift Debuts “I Can See You” Video And Speak Now Songs In Kansas City

speak now eras tour kansas city

Friday, Taylor Swift released Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) , her latest re-recorded album. Also Friday, at Kansas City’s GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, she picked back up her Eras Tour after a quick Independence Day break. I’d wondered if the release of the album would mean an influx of Speak Now songs in the setlist, which often has been limited to just one track from the album. Sure enough, that era made more of an impact on the show for at least one night.

First, during the preordained Speak Now section of the show, when she normally just sings “Enchanted,” Swift performed “Long Live” for the first time on this tour (and, by extension, the first time since 2018). Then, during the part of the show where she performs surprise songs each night, the Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) celebration ramped up significantly.

Before performing surprise songs, Swift debuted the video for “I Can See You,” one of the project’s previously unreleased “from the vault” bonus tracks. It’s a heist story written and directed by Swift, and it involves some figures from her past. Taylor Lautner, the Twilight star who briefly dated Swift, is in the video; he’s supposedly the subject of Speak Now ballad “Back To December.” Also in the video are Joey King and Presley Cash, who appeared as children in Swift’s “Mean” video. All three of them joined Swift onstage for the premiere. Lautner did a handspring on his way down the catwalk. Swift told the crowd that Lautner “was a very positive force in my life when I was making the Speak Now album, and I want to say he did every single stunt that you saw in that music video.”

After that, both of Swift’s solo surprise songs were from the Speak Now era: first “Never Grow Up,” making its tour debut, then the “from the vault” track “When Emma Falls In Love,” performed live for the first time ever. Watch the “I Can See You” video and footage of the live Speak Now songs below.

Gracie Abrams opened the show wearing a Speak Now tee in honor of the album re-release. The Interscope artist’s set was brief with just four songs, but got the night started on the right note.

MUNA came out strong as the second opener to a full stadium. The playful, power pop band got the crowd moving with their hits “What I Want” and “Silk Chiffon”. The openly queer group gave Kansas City a lot of love and dedicated their performance to the LGBTQ+ community.

After their set, a countdown clock appeared on a video wall and the excitement in the stadium was palpable. When the clock hit zero, dancers emerged with enormous pastel-colored fans and ran toward the B Stage in the center of the stadium. Taylor rose from below the stage opening her nearly four-hour set with “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince”. The crowd took the energy to the next level while Taylor performed “Cruel Summer,” scream-singing it with her.

She thanked the crowd for making her feel like a boss before launching into “The Man,” while taking to a multi-tiered stage setup that looked like an office full of employees. After this, Taylor addressed the crowd by saying, “Welcome to the Speak Now release party.” She went back to the B Stage with a pink guitar to play “Lover”.

Swift admitted she missed the connection with the audience from not touring for five years. She said that she decided to make as many albums as humanly possible during the pandemic. She called the new albums new family members. “Champagne Problems” found the singer at a moss-covered grand piano in a pumpkin colored gown.

Snake videos filled the screens to lead into the Reputations era with “…Ready for It?”

“Long Live”, off Speak Now , was the first of the surprise songs peppered into Swift’s set. It featured her koi guitar, which was on current display at the Country Music Hall of Fame until it went ‘missing’ mysteriously right before this show. I was happy to have my venue approved Sony point and shoot camera to capture the moment from my seat. Mystery solved tonight in KC!

The Red Era followed, with Swift wearing a “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” tee. “22” kicked off that section of songs. Before the ten-minute long version of “All Too Well”, Swift talked about wanting to own her music and re-recording the albums for Taylor’s version. She again expressed gratitude to the fans for helping her fulfill that dream. As she re-records them, she is adding in songs from the vault that previously didn’t make the album.

The folklore era began with Taylor on top of a cabin in the trees. This era began with “The 1” and ended with the mega popuplar “cardigan”. Swift changed to an orange two-piece sparkly outfit for the 1989 era before performing “Shake It Off” and “Wildest Dreams”. The entire stadium was on their feet, throwing up heart hands and singing every word. All the fans in the crowd were given bracelets that lit up in sync across the stadium. The screens changed to fire burning across them for “Bad Blood” and real pyro fire was also unleashed as she performed the song with her amazing backup dancers who never missed a beat.

Kansas City Night One was special, too, because it was where Swift showed the world premiere of the video for “I Can See You”. The music video stars Taylor Lautner, Joey King and Presley Cash. The song is rumored to be about Swift’s ex, Lautner so it was a surreal moment to see them together again. Swift said she wanted the screening to be like a movie premier and brought her video co-stars out. The music video immediately began trending on Twitter.

The official surprise songs, which are special songs that Swift plays at each date without ever repeating them, were “Never Grow Up” and “Emma Falls in Love”, off Speak Now . Both songs were played acoustically, with Swift playing guitar and then a piano with hand-painted flowers.

The Midnights era was kicked off with “Lavender Haze”. Fireworks lit up the stadium sky for the grand finale of “Karma”.

Swift took fans on an emotional journey through her discography, delivering a night of music, spectacle, and pure enchantment. True to her reputation, Swift spared no expense in delivering a visually stunning spectacle. The stage design and production values were nothing short of extraordinary, seamlessly transitioning between each era.

From grandiose sets to mesmerizing lighting effects, every element was meticulously crafted to complement the unique atmosphere of each song. The visuals served as the perfect backdrop for Swift’s boundless energy, ensuring that every audience member felt fully immersed in the experience.

The Eras Tour  will continue to roll across the US through Aug. 9, wrapping its final shows in Los Angeles. Swift recently announced she will be taking the record-breaking tour overseas to Europe, Asia and Australia next year, with dates through Aug. 17, 2024. If you haven’t seen it catch it before it’s gone. It’s the show of the year!

Taylor Swift stunned Sunday night in a third all-new dress revealed on the Eras Tour in Milan.

On night two of the tour stop, Swift came out for her third era in a purple swirly gown with a pattern reminiscent of Vincent van Gogh's "The Starry Night." The "Enchanted" singer floated down the catwalk in the sparkly showstopper with thin shoulder straps. She sang only the one track from "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" to San Siro Stadium before gliding back up the catwalk to disappear in the magical fog.

The outfit is the newest addition to the Eras Tour. On Saturday night, Swift unveiled a brand-new Roberto Cavalli "Fearless" dress and Vivienne Westwood "Tortured Poets" gown.

Taylor Swift in Milan: The superstar unveils new 'Fearless' and 'Tortured Poets' dresses

Cavalli posted a closer look at the tiger-striped "Fearless" dress on Instagram with the caption : "A night to remember: @taylorswift arrives in Milan. The #RobertoCavalli atelier has crafted a mesmerizing #RobertoCavalliCouture short party dress with a fringed skirt, entirely embroidered with crystals and micro-beads, evoking the iconic Roberto Cavalli #RayOfGold print look."

Westwood's white "Tortured Poets" couture gown is similar to Swift's other "I love you, it's ruining my life" dress except the font reads "Who's afraid of little old me? You should be."

Although Milan is one of the leading fashion capitals of the world, fans online thought the new dresses may point toward an album or music video announcement.

Swift heads to Gelsenkirchen, Germany, for three performances on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Taylor Swift Reunites with Taylor Lautner Onstage — and His Wife Shares Cute Throwback Photo from 2010

"He was a very positive force in my life when I was making the 'Speak Now' album," the singer said of the "Twilight" star

“Long Live” Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner ’s friendship!

The “Enchanted” singer, 33, and the Twilight star, 31, shared a hug after Lautner cartwheeled and backflipped onstage at Swift’s Eras Tour stop in Kansas City, Missouri, on Friday night. The backflip was a nod to the scene he and Swift shared in the 2010 movie Valentine’s Day .

The touching moment between the pair followed the surprise premiere of Swift's new music video for the song “I Can See You,” which stars Lautner and actresses Joey King and Presley Cash.

The special surprise came the same day the Grammy winner dropped the long-awaited re-recording of her 2010 album Speak Now (Taylor's Version) , featuring the track “Back to December” which Lautner inspired after he and Swift dated for a few months in 2009.

Swift said of her ex before introducing him onstage , “He was a very positive force in my life when I was making the Speak Now album, and I want to say he did every single stunt that you saw in that music video. He and his wife have become some of my closest friends, and it’s very convenient because we all share the same first name.”

The actor also shared some kind words for Swift after he walked out, telling her, “I respect you so much. Not just for the singer you are, the songwriter, the performer — but truly for the human you are. You are gracious, humble, kind and I’m honored to know you.”

Lautner commemorated the night by sharing a hilarious Instagram photo of himself, his wife Taylor Dome Lautner and Swift recreating the popular Spider-Man meme by standing in a circle and pointing at each other, given that they all share the same first name.

“Secret's out! Tonight was wild,” he captioned the post of the trio on the set of the "I Can See You" video.

Dome Lautner, 26, also shared a snapshot of Swift with her arms around the couple as she gives the camera two thumbs up, along with a throwback photo of when she met the musician in 2010.

“The Tale of Three Taylors🤍Everything that @taylorlautner said last night onstage is so true. @taylorswift you are not only one of the most talented people to ever walk this earth (truly don’t think there is anything you can’t do) but you are also one of THE kindest people,” Dome Lautner wrote in the Instagram caption .

“You welcomed my husband and I into your camp with open arms and the warmest heart,” she continued. “The way you are so down to earth and authentically yourself after all these years of being in the spotlight is inspiring. Your passion for your work and genuine love for your fans is something so incredible. I am honored to call you a friend.”

Dome Lautner, a healthcare worker, has been vocal about being a longtime Swiftie, sharing on Nick Viall 's podcast, The Viall Files , in February that she is an “ OG T-Swift fan .”

"I went to one of her first concerts like ever. It was at the tiniest theater. My best friend loved her, and then I did too," she explained.

Dome Lautner also shared which of Swift's albums she thinks is the greatest. " Speak Now — that album was the one I was like, 'That's probably one of the best albums of all time,' she said. "The lyrics are insane."

Will Travis Kelce attend Taylor Swift's Eras Tour dates in Gelsenkirchen, Germany?

We've seen Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift spend a bunch of time together in recent months.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end was at all three Eras Tour London shows and he even did a cameo on stage in one of them. Then? It appeared he surprised her at her third Dublin show.

Now, Swift continues her international leg of the Eras Tour, so you might wonder: given that Chiefs training camp is about to start but Kelce may not have to report just yet, will he be in Gelsenkirchen, Germany for three days to see her perform again?

It feels like it's just too close to having to report to training camp, so we'll guess that he probably won't be there.

Travis Kelce was spotted at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour show in Germany this week ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs’ upcoming training camp.

The tight end made an appearance at the “Lover” songstress’ first tour stop concert at the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen on Wednesday.

Per fan footage that’s been circulating on social media, Kelce, 34, enjoyed the show solo from a VIP section of the venue, which featured a balcony and closed-off room.

Kelce kept it casual for the outing, wearing a black-and-green checkered polo shirt and baseball cap.

While the NFL star usually jams out to Swift’s greatest hits, various clips showed him leaning on a door frame with his hands in his pockets, seemingly trying to keep a low profile.

However, he at one point waved to fans who were sitting below him and instantly spotted him.

Wednesday’s concert marked the 13th Eras Tour show that Kelce has attended, which also happens to be the 14-time Grammy winner’s favorite number.

Since May, the three-time Super Bowl winner has flown back and forth from the US to Europe to support Swift, also 34, as she continues the European leg of her tour.

From July 12-14, Kelce was at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Nevada to participate in the 2024 American Century Championship.

A few days prior, he was in Amsterdam – along with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife,  Brittany Mahomes – to support the “Cruel Summer” singer at her tour stop on July 6.

Kelce also notably attended several of Swift’s shows in Dublin , London and Paris while making a few trips back to the US in between.

It’s unclear how long the “New Heights” podcaster will stay in Europe this time around as he’s set to return to Kansas City for training camp on July 21.

Travis Kelce

The Chiefs officially kick off their season on Sept. 5 as they face the Baltimore Ravens.

While Swift’s tour doesn’t wrap up until December, she reportedly plans to attend “as many games as possible” to support her beau.

In the past, the pop star hasn’t allowed her professional commitments to stop her from showing up to cheer on Kelce at his various games.

Did Taylor Swift tease ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ release at Kansas City’s Eras Tour?

Taylor Swift performed to a sold-out, purple-clad Arrowhead Stadium the night of her “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” release, and just as she promised at the beginning of her show, she had a few “tricks up her sleeve.”

After introducing the night as a “Speak Now” release party, she premiered her “ I Can See You (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault) ” music video live for the crowd in Kansas City.

“I’m gonna show you something that I’ve been planning for years,” Swift said before playing the video. “Ever since I started rerecording my albums, I always wanted to tell a story visually that symbolically portrayed the ways that you guys have helped me get my music back.

While watching the music video, fans noticed a potential Easter egg hinting that the re-release of “1989” may be next.

After Swift’s ex-boyfriend, Taylor Lautner, and actress Joey King are shown freeing Swift from being locked in a vault — a clear nod to her efforts to regain ownership of her music by rerecording her albums — a road sign can be seen hanging above the “Getaway Car” (a song from her “Reputation” album) as it drives off.

The sign appears to read: “1’-9” 8.9 tv”.

“THEY’RE ON THEIR WAY TO SAVE 1989 …” one person tweeted.

“1989 TAYLOR’S VERSION IS NEXT. Easter eggs in the ‘I Can See You’ music video confirms it,” another said, pointing out that Swift’s makeup resembles her look from “Blank Space.”

The beginning of the video shows a security footage timestamp from “July 9 1:38 a.m.,” a reference to Swift’s “Last Kiss.”

Swift invited Lautner onto the stage Friday after the video.

“I’m honored to know you,” Lautner said, after backflipping his way down to Swift. “So thank you for having me be a part of this and being a part of your life.”

King, also on stage, took the mic.

“Taylor’s original thing that he was gonna say was just, ‘Let’s go Chiefs,’” she joked as the audience erupted in cheers.
