Star Trek Online Tribble FAQ

Star Trek Online Tribble Frequently Asked Questions by Miuramir

Introduction

Tribbles are an iconic part of the Star Trek franchise, first introduced in the famous 1967 episode The Trouble with Tribbles, set in 2268. Subsequent references occur throughout the franchise, as both incidental background props and entire episodes revolving around the creatures.

Tribbles are formally Polygeminus grex , with a variety of sub-species, breeds, and colors. They are originally from Iota Geminorum IV, and under optimal conditions can breed astoundingly rapidly, with doubling times normally associated with microscopic organisms.

Primary FAQ Tribble Powers Tribble Breeds

Other Useful Links: IfniLuck’s Guide to Tribbles : IfnLuck was the first person to publicly organize a food and breed cross-reference chart The_MadTom’s Tribble Breeding Table : The_MadTom has a differently-organized google doc, a spreadsheet that may be more useful for certain purposes The_MadTom’s Visual Tribble Breeding flowsheet : A version of the above with the actual tribble art added, to help recognize color patterns Wolfiesden’s SQL database : Interactive tribble food and breed cross-reference database, which lists which NPCs sell any food that can be purchased

Game Representation

In STO, the differing types of tribbles represented are described as “sub-species”, which have a one-to-one correspondence to colors or patterns. Tribbles are activatable equipment, and can be placed in your character’s hot bar (“belt”), your bridge officer’s hot bar, your inventory, your personal bank, or a fleet bank. Activating a tribble provides a small bonus of some sort, and is represented in game by an animation of the character taking out the tribble and petting it, with appropriate cooing sounds. Tribbles have an official NPC sale or replicator value of 0 (zero); since breeding one requires consuming a food item with non-zero value, you are guaranteed to loose money breeding tribbles unless you can manage to sell a rare one to a fellow player.

Tribble Powers

Following are the known tribble powers. These can be used by most Federation player characters and bridge officers. It is reported that the Klingon species bridge officer of a Federation player has a mutually negative reaction to the tribble, as expected from the source material; it’s not clear if this means they cannot benefit from the powers, or is merely a humorous animation. It is possible for Federation players to unlock Klingons as a playable species (currently by purchasing in the C-Store for 240 Cryptic Points); their reaction to tribbles is unknown at this time.

Right-clicking on a tribble’s icon gives a short menu, with the option “Info”; the info screen gives details on the tribble’s sub-species and activatable power.

Healing : An out of combat self heal 1.25s activate, 6s recharge “Petting this sub-species of tribble will have the effect of stimulating the body’s natural healing capabilities.” [exact effects unknown]

Resistance Buff : A long duration out of combat self damage resistance buff 1.25s activate, 6s recharge “Petting this sub-species of tribble will have the effect of slightly stimulating the body’s natural ability to resist all types of damage.” [Adds 1% Resistance to most types of ground damage, with a duration of 1 hour. This does carry over into space combat, although it’s not clear if it affects anything useful. Overrides Damage Buff, canceling it.]

Damage Buff : A long duration out of combat self damage buff 1.25s activate, 6s recharge “Petting this sub-species of tribble will have the effect of slightly stimulating the body’s natural production of adrenoline, improving one’s damage capabilities.” [Adds ???, with a duration of 1 hour. This does carry over into space combat, although it’s not clear if it affects anything useful. Overrides Resistance Buff, canceling it.]

Regeneration Buff [Adds ???, with a duration of 1 hour]

Combat Skill Buff [???]

The following sub-species (or breeds) of tribble are known, organized for now by their activatable power. Format: Genus species sub-species “Color” (color clarification, pattern details, etc.)

Healing: ( ¯ ) Polygeminus grex susilo “White” (almost radiant white, HTML “ghostwhite”) ( ¯ ) Polygeminus grex stahl “Cream” (under magnification, may be a flecked mix of White and Tan; HTML “moccasin” (used here) or “antiquewhite”) ( ¯ ) Polygeminus grex sparkes “Tan” (a light brown, khaki; HTML “burlywood” (used here), “peru”, or “tan”) ( ¯ ) Polygeminus grex dotson “Brown” (a medium-dark brown, milk chocolate; HTML “saddlebrown”) ( ¯ ) Polygeminus grex thompson “Black” (probably actually a very dark brown, dark chocolate; HTML “black” is not a good match but there isn’t anything closer) ( ¯ ) Polygeminus grex vitales “Gray” (pale cool gray; HTML “lightgray” used here, but better match pending) Polygeminus grex tuffli “Cream with Brown Stripes” (original description, and probably the way most people think of it; under magnification, it may actually be Brown with a broad equatorial Cream stripe and several large Cream spots. One could argue that the pale color is Tan rather than Cream, but in comparison to jasperson and nix under magnification, the pale color is distinctly lighter here. This may well be the “mutt” breed result, with middling colors and a mix of stripes and spots)

(Damage) Resistance Buff: Polygeminus grex nix “Brown with large Tan spots” (spots are approximately circular, and arranged in what may be an approximately cubic (or dodecahedral) vertex pattern) Polygeminus grex stacy “Black with multiple small White spots” (from Demonical_3, confirmed by Dakirn and Nack)

Damage Buff: Polygeminus grex jasperson “Tan with single equatorial Brown stripe” Polygeminus grex mccary “Tan with Brown spots” (from Adeon_Hawkwood) Polygeminus grex cavallaro “White with Black spiral stripe” (alternatively Black with White Z pattern, the 3D pattern appears to be a white “polar cap” top and bottom, with a diagonal stripe or ring between them; from IfniLuck) Polygeminus grex vitales [sic] “Ttruncated icosahedron (soccer ball) pattern; Orange faces with Red “seams”; single medium Brown spot in each face” (Some also describe it as an “eyeball” pattern. This appears to be a bug or naming error, a very rare type with the same name as a common type. Currently being described as “vitales-snail” on the forums until we get an official name fix. Reported by Snailelin, confirmed by Profetius Eteus)

Regeneration Buff: Polygeminus grex deangelo “Black with White spiral stripe” (alternatively White with Black Z pattern; the 3D pattern appears to be a dark “polar cap” top and bottom, with a diagonal stripe or ring between them; from IfniLuck) Polygeminus grex henry “Brown with single equatorial Tan stripe” (reported on exchange by Snicker, confirmed by Dakirn) Polygeminus grex highison “Light Purple with double-zigzag Dark Purple stripes” (reported by Troglis)

Multiple Effects: Polygeminus grex mattson ” “Orange with multiple zigzag Dark Purple stripes” (alternatively vice-versa; from Demonical_3, confirmed by nmdrkangl and Troglis); Damage Buff + Regeneration Buff Polygeminus grex rivera “?golden/orange with blue halo fur?”; Resistance Buff + Regeneration Buff + Combat Skill Buff (?) (reported as the pre-order tribble; from Mockingbird)

Unknown: Polygeminus grex howe “White with multiple small Black spots” (reported on exchange by Zacuis, confirmed by Dakirn) Polygeminus grex ricossa “Orange with multiple small Dark Purple spots” (from Dakirn) Polygeminus grex griffis “Dark Purple with multiple White rings” (alternatively, Dark Purple with large White spots which each contain a small Dark Purple spot; from Dakirn)

Please post any info you have on new breeds, or further details on the above breeds.

Obtaining Tribbles

The primary way one gets tribbles is by breeding tribbles, and some types may only be available through breeding. See the following section for details. However, there are a few other ways to get a tribble:

* As a drop: Some NPC Klingon (and allies) ground enemies that you fight as a Federation character have a chance to drop a tribble as their loot. Details are currently unknown, but there are reliable reports of them dropping in ground missions as early as level 4, and possibly earlier.

* As a pre-order bonus: A tribble pet is available as a pre-order bonus from several retailers. Currently known: Best Buy (US), Game AU (AU), Gross Electronic Silver Edition (DE), HMV Gold Edition (UK), Micromania Silver Edition and Micromania Gold Edition (FR). The subspecies is Polygeminus grex rivera , unusual in both color and powers (see sub-species FAQ for details); it is believed to not be breedable.

* On the Exchange or via trading: Tribbles can be bought and sold on the Exchange, and traded directly between players.

Tribble Breeding

Tribble breeding can occur in your active power bar, in your inventory, or in your Bank. Current reports are that they do NOT breed in the Fleet Bank, although that’s not completely verified. You only need a single tribble to start, although some breeds may require multiple tribbles present. They will consume any “food item” in the same location category, replacing it with the new tribble.

Items considered “food items” seem to include all of the consumable out-of-combat regeneration items, including beverages in glass bottles and whatever 25th Century Field Rations are packaged in. It does not include “Provisions”, the non-consumable trade item (or at least the chance is very low). Uncommon food items (gotten from drops, or shops other than at Earth, rather than the replicator) are required or at least dramatically improve the chances of getting the less common tribble breeds. Note also that some “uncommon” food items can be purchased from vendors in various locations, such as DS9. Check before buying at inflated Exchange prices!

The timing and odds of tribble breeding is still being researched. At the moment, it appears that there is some sort of time-based check based on elapsed time increments from when you logged in; further research ongoing. It is currently reported that tribbles do not breed in the Fleet Bank, and that they seem to breed slower in your hot bar (“belt”) than in your inventory.

Stopping Tribble Breeding

Historically, one of the first questions people ask about tribbles is “How do I breed them?”. Shortly thereafter, many people come to the follow-up question “OK, now how do I STOP them from breeding?”, quite possibly followed by “Hey, that was my booze!”

While data is inconclusive, at this point it appears that tribbles only breed when there is a “food item” (see above under Tribble Breeding) in the same location category as an existing tribble. For instance, if you have a tribble equipped in your Bridge Officer’s item bar, it will not consume food in your own item bar. In general, having equipped (usable) tribbles and equipped (usable) food is not long-term compatible. However, you can have an equipped tribble in your item bar, and as long as you are careful to not have any in inventory, you can store food in your inventory. You’ll just have to equip the food and use it promptly when needed.

Trivia: the names of the breeds (officially sub-species) seem to be the last names of Cryptic developers in at least some cases.

Trivia: It is rumored that the public test server for STO will be called “tribble”.

Why do they drop from Klingons?: Based on what we know about tribbles in the franchise, it seems unlikely that a Klingon would be carrying them for buffs or cuddle factor. There have been a few suggestions made as to why Klingons drop tribbles as loot:

* Their ship or base has an infestation; the Klingon thought they were carrying some food, but it had been eaten by a tribble when they weren’t looking.

* Despite the noise and dislike, it might be a cheap way to tell a real Klingon from an Undine who is shapeshifted into a Klingon appearance; in effect the reverse of the incident from the original episode.

How to make the “ASCII tribble” as seen on the forums, ( ¯ ) : This is actually 3 characters with some vBcode, optionally colored: (¯) That’s an open parenthesis, an underlined overbar (Unicode U+00AF (175)), and a close parenthesis. To color it, you can add (¯), where “value” is a vB recognized color. These are believed to match or be similar to HTML colors . See the listing above for some examples.

If anyone has detailed breeding tests, please post as much info as possible.

Summary [ ]

Three Federation starships arrive at the location of a transponder left behind by the USS Titan -A , while another is found by the Shrike . Vadic grows increasingly frustrated, threatening her "ill-defined, unshapen" crew if another one tells her they have not located Picard . The Changeling at the helm explains that the Titan keeps leaving behind decoy transponders and jumping to warp at infrequent intervals. Vadic thinks of how exhausted they must be… as she is, as are all of their "brothers and sisters" who have to wear the faces of the Federation. She then becomes more upbeat, saying that there will be rest, a day of "lifeless bodies burning in space." They will have peace and unity again… but first, they will have their vengeance. The helm continues to persist; Frontier Day is 72 hours away, and they have no better idea of where Jack Crusher is than they did before. As they are saying a change of leadership might be needed, Vadic simply orders "enough" and the Changeling beside her draws their weapon and vaporizes the would-be mutineer on the spot.

Vadic sets her crew to work on finding all of Picard's known associates, including past and present Starfleet colleagues – anyone to whom he might turn for help. " We will scorch the Earth under which he stands, and the night will brighten with the ashes of the Federation, " she declares. " And from them… we will rise. "

Act One [ ]

In the Titan 's sickbay , Beverly Crusher speaks to Picard about Jack's condition. After he had confided in her about his waking nightmares, she ran a micro-neural scan, and found all of the portions of his brain relating to cognition and imagination were affected. Jack has a terminal diagnosis of Irumodic Syndrome , which he inherited from Picard. Beverly remembers how he had had nightmares and spoke to imaginary things as a child, but she had thought he was gifted, not "plagued with an overclocked brain." She has given him a neuro-inhibitor to temper the hallucinations, and it might be decades before the disease finally catches up with him. When Picard begins to speak, she stops him, telling him not to waste time burdening himself, when he could instead be unburdening Jack.

Picard finds Jack in the holodeck , still set to 10 Forward Avenue , seated at the bar having had several drinks by this point. When Jack sees him, he has the landlord pour one for his "old man" as well. He explains he is celebrating the fact that he is not crazy, just broken – and the way he sees it, he can either wallow in self-pity, or be like a Japanese teacup , which can be put back together with molten gold … or in Jack's case, bourbon . Picard thinks Jack should take it more seriously, but Jack says he is taking it "deadly serious," and quite possibly dead. He asks how Picard survived dealing with it, and Picard points out that he didn't , having had his body replaced with a golem , but he had lived with the syndrome for decades – and Jack has plenty more good years ahead of him. Jack laments that it was unfortunate Picard wasn't as good at passing on genetics as he is wisdom. His mother had tried to protect him from becoming "collateral damage" in Picard's life, but he finds it ironic that he was probably doomed before he was born. He downs his drink and leaves, just as Seven of Nine calls: "they" have arrived, she informs Picard.

Worf and Musiker beam aboard, greeted in the transporter room by Picard, Riker , Beverly, and Seven. Worf formally asks permission to come aboard, and Picard happily grants it, saying it has been too long. Worf replies it has been eleven years, five months, four days , minus his infrequent messages and his annual bottle of " sour mead ." Riker knows he was talking about Chateau Picard , which Worf thinks is "quite tart." Though she knows Worf was not a "hugger" (and Riker points this out), Beverly hugs him anyway, glad to see him. Musiker tells Picard that Worf engages in meditation, and Worf confirms this, saying that the most advantageous battle stance is to be one within oneself, earning an incredulous reaction from Riker. Musiker greets her former-lover Seven, asking if she is alright; Seven replies that they are alive, at least. Musiker and Worf had a difficult time tracking the Titan down, which gave them time to process the idea that Picard and Beverly were now parents. Worf then turns his attention to business, telling Picard that they have to ensure Ro Laren did not die in vain, to protect both Starfleet and her kin, and that they have much to report.

As the Titan goes to warp, the crew meets in the observation lounge with Captain Shaw . Worf explains that the Changelings have re-emerged as a threat. During the Dominion War , they had used deception and might against the Federation, and Starfleet retaliated with the morphogenic virus ; there were scars and shame on both sides. Starfleet had also provided the cure to the Great Link , but Shaw points out that it had weaponized a number of zealots as well. Ro believed that whatever was being planned was tied to Frontier Day – " no better stage on which to make a statement, " as Picard puts it, and the day was coming in less than 48 hours. With time a factor and no leads, Worf and Musiker believe they have to return to the scene of the crime: Daystrom Station , where Starfleet keeps its experimental weapons technology and alien contraband, off the books. A few months earlier, Vadic had broken into the station and stolen a number of classified weapons, including the portal weapon , but Musiker and Worf speculate that the portal's use at the recruiting center on M'talas Prime was meant to cover the theft of something else; Shaw thinks it obvious that the weapon they took is even more deadly than the portal weapon. Seven points out that the only way to know for certain is to check Daystrom's inventory, and Beverly adds the copy Ro was able to obtain was heavily redacted. The full manifest would be located inside Daystrom's vault. Starfleet security has had patrols every hour on the station since the break-in, but the vault itself is protected by an "astonishingly lethal" AI system, to which Worf and Musiker have acquired a key. However, if the key fails, instead of searching for one missing weapon, they will find themselves at the wrong end of many. Ro believed this weapon key to the entire conspiracy, and Picard also knows it is the only way they can both clear their names and save Starfleet. He then asks for volunteers.

Worf, Musiker, and Seven head to the transporter room, where Seven tries to reach out to Musiker. Seeing this, Worf says he has been in battle alongside lovers many times, and is able to mention how therapeutic it can be when Seven says she is not going. Worf is relieved, admitting he had been practicing deceit, and that breakups on his homeworld rarely ended without bloodshed. Riker then enters, having volunteered to join the team. Seven reports they have come out of warp as close as they could to beam them in without alerting Starfleet. Ro's intel had a workaround for the station's transport inhibitors , but they will have to beam them in and out before the manual patrols. Riker asks how long they have to find the weapons manifest, and Musiker estimates an hour at best. Riker hopes the key works, otherwise they will have to resort to "old-fashioned Klingon offense". Worf mentions that he now prefers pacifism to actual combat, before giving the order to energize. As the beam takes them, a deadpan Riker mutters that they are all going to die.

As they materialize inside the station, the station's AI conducts a security scan, requiring they identify themselves. Worf plugs Krinn 's key into the system, just as the computer threatens to use lethal force if the "Daystrom visitors" do not identify themselves. After a tense moment, the key succeeds, granting them access to the station. But outside, their troubles are just beginning: two starships drop out of warp, having managed to locate the Titan . Shaw orders red alert and tries to have the team brought back, but Lieutenant Mura says that he can't get a lock; the ships have activated transport inhibitors to block any rescue from the station. Sidney La Forge recognizes them as Echelon -class ships, and they have traceable payloads; if they hit the Titan with their weapons, they could track the ship as they fled. " Spoken like a true La Forge, " Picard commends her, before saying they have to run before their pursuers realize who is inside Daystrom. La Forge warns that short of being invisible, they won't be able to come back until the other ships can't track them. Picard taps his combadge and informs Riker of the situation, but adds he has an idea, before telling La Forge to set a course for Athan Prime . La Forge doesn't think it is a good idea, and Worf adds that Starfleet security will patrol that area in less than an hour. Picard promises they will be back by then. The two ships lock weapons, and Shaw gives the order to withdraw at maximum warp.

The team, now on their own, explores Daystrom's weapons vault, which Worf explains as being the repository for Section 31 's more "nefarious" technology. Among the items contained within are a thalaron generator , a second Genesis Device , and the body of Captain James T. Kirk . Worf is startled by a genetically modified tribble that viciously jumps at the glass in its containment cell. Riker jokes about the "mighty Klingon" and the even "mightier attack tribble," but Worf is not amused, seeing that Riker still finds comfort in humor, and humor in others' discomfort. Riker is surprised that Worf is so serious now, before Musiker directs them back to the mission at hand, and getting out – alive. The station's AI detects Riker's speech patterns and identifies him, preparing security measures. As they make their way through the corridors, a holographic crow flies past them, startling them. Riker thinks there is something familiar about it, before Worf calls out that he has found the mainframe. As he prepares to access it, a note from a violin can be heard over the comms, Riker identifying it as an F-sharp. A further burst of music sounds as the lights go out. When the emergency lights kick in, they are confronted by a man in a 19th century formal outfit, complete with top hat, and Riker is astonished to recognize him as Professor Moriarty .

" Greetings, old friends, " Moriarty says politely, as he pulls out a pistol from his coat.

Act Two [ ]

The Titan arrives at Athan Prime, home to the Fleet Museum . The " old spacedock " has been moved here, to act as the last resting place of legendary starships. Shaw orders La Forge to find a place among the "relics," to be a "needle in the haystack." The station hails them, and though La Forge is clearly hesitant, Shaw has it put on screen. Picard is glad to see the caller, Commodore Geordi La Forge , the museum's director and Sidney's father. But Geordi does not appear happy to see them, telling Picard to power down nonessential systems immediately.

Geordi beams aboard along with his daughter Alandra . He admits that in the nanosecond he spent in the transporter beam, he debated the virtues of a curt, professional handshake or an uncomfortable, but long-overdue hug, before electing to give Beverly the latter. He then gives curt greetings to Picard and Sidney. As Picard prepares to introduce him to Jack, Geordi interrupts, saying he is in the middle of his third memo to Starfleet protesting having all of the fleet in one location for Frontier Day. Further, with all of the thousands of people who visit the museum daily, sooner or later someone will point out the one ship that doesn't belong there. Geordi is adamant that they need to talk, and quickly leaves. Alandra greets her sister, who calls their father "impossible"; Alandra promises to do what she can. Jack sarcastically notes the "warm and cuddly" greeting, and Sidney admits she has not been on the best of terms with her father, something Jack sees they have in common.

On learning that Jack is Picard's son, Geordi is not entirely surprised that his old captain has managed to turn fatherhood into an intergalactic incident. Picard tries to explain that not only is Starfleet after them, but Changelings are as well, and tells him that Worf and Riker are stuck on Daystrom Station. Picard asks for Geordi's help to clone the Titan 's transponder signal to lure their pursuers away from Daystrom Station. Geordi is not happy to see his old friends pulled into the situation as well, and explains that even if he were willing, he couldn't clone a transponder signal without randomized Starfleet security codes. He then has Alandra explain the biggest problem: every ship in Starfleet is now fully integrated, able to "talk" to each other. The Titan is a beacon, and it will only be a matter of time before they get close enough to track. Picard realizes this was how the two Echelon s had found them.

At Daystrom Station, the search for the team continues, the starships USS Sternbach and USS Cole continuing their sensor sweeps. Musiker wonders what a 19th century holo-villain is doing defending a 25th century black site . Moriarty retorts that "villain" does not do justice to his complexity, and only reveals her simplicity; Riker remarks that at least somebody is consistent. Moriarty opens fire, his old-style pistol firing live rounds, while the team's phasers pass through his holographic form. As further musical notes blare, Riker realizes this is not the same self-aware Moriarty they encountered on the USS Enterprise -D decades before, but more of a projection, one that is blocking their way to the security vault. Riker is able to identify the musical notes as they come, while Moriarty calls them "solvable puzzles," mocking their unguarded expressions, their visible scars. " Such pathetic old warriors, " he sneers. Further musical notes sound, and Riker asks if he is trying to play some kind of a song for them. Moriarty confirms this, calling it a "maddening melody" and a "saccharine song," one he can not get out of his head. Riker then hears a portion he recognizes: " Pop Goes the Weasel ," recalling hearing it on the holodeck when he first came aboard the Enterprise -D. Riker whistles the last notes of the song. Moriarty smiles, calling it "marvelous," as his projection vanishes, and the door to the mainframe opens. Worf asks how he knew it would work, and Riker recalls he had shared that tune with another dear friend ages ago, one who also dreamt of crows and sought to thwart Moriarty with the intellect of Sherlock Holmes … " somebody who couldn't whistle worth a damn. " He recalls finishing the song the same way on the holodeck for Data decades before , who had also called it "marvelous." As they enter the mainframe, they see another Soong-type android : The station's security AI.

Act Three [ ]

Geordi makes it clear he wants to help his old captain and crew, but he has a lot at stake. In the best-case scenario, he faces court martial , and at worst, a compromised Starfleet will put his family at risk. Alandra mentions something in Hangar Bay 12 that could help them, but her father immediately shuts that down. Picard insists this is a life-or-death situation, but Geordi retorts that it is always life-or-death, which he felt fine with when he did so willingly with his own life while under Picard's command, but now he believes Picard has put Sidney in grave danger, a charge Picard denies, defending her choice to join Starfleet. As the fathers continue to argue, an exasperated Alandra leaves, apologetically reminding Sidney about their father's stubbornness.

Jack exchanges a glance with Sidney, before seating himself (over Seven's initial protest) in the captain's chair , saying he just wanted to "try it out." They cycle through the ships in the museum, and Jack is able to identify some of them: The USS Defiant , the USS New Jersey , and one he calls his personal favorite, the USS Enterprise -A , admiring her "clean retro lines," calling himself a " Constitution -class man." Seven remarks on how knowledgeable he is for someone who "didn't give a damn about Starfleet," but Jack has always been interested in starships, even before he knew about Picard being his father. Seven then brings up another ship that Jack calls a "beauty" but is unfamiliar with: The USS Voyager , which Seven explains had made its name farther out than any of the others had ever gone. She also calls it her home, where she had been "reborn," and the crew was her family. Jack sees she is now looking for another, noting how they were all looking for connection, but are always "just a little bit alone": " Stars in the same galaxy, but light years between us. " Seven laughingly tells him he is truly his father's son, as Picard also has a knack for "poetic drive-by observation," which she sometimes finds annoying… but can also make a person feel seen. Jack admits that being equal parts irritating and endearing isn't "entirely unfamiliar." Seven then brings up another ship, the HMS Bounty , a Klingon Bird-of-Prey pulled from the bottom of San Francisco Bay after " the whole whale thing " in 2286 . The story goes that the searchers had a difficult time finding it, and Jack realizes it was because the cloaking device had reactivated.

" They took a keen interest in your sentient AI friend here. "

Inside Daystrom's mainframe, Riker realizes the android was not trying to harm them; it was trying to communicate with them, because it recognized them. Musiker had thought Data had died ( twice ), and Riker confirms he did; Worf is adamant it can not be the same Data. Musiker examines the records, seeing this new android is a hybrid, a synthetic with an android interface. Riker thinks it could be their Data; before his first death, Data had copied his entire being into B-4 , which had been unrecoverable up to that point; with the synth ban now lifted, nothing was now impossible. After the death of Altan Soong , Starfleet co-opted most of his unfinished work, taking a particular interest in the new android. Musiker finds a holographic message from Soong in the records. In the recording, the doctor explains that before gifting his golem to Picard, he had intended to live beyond his years, becoming his own legacy. But in his last days, he recognized that this was not just poor humanity, it was poor science. Evolution was not meant to be preservation – it was meant to be addition.

At the same time, aboard the Titan , Geordi explains that Sidney has always been stubborn, which he admits she likely inherited from him, thinking that a parent always wants to impart the best aspects of themselves to their children. Picard, recently introduced to fatherhood himself, has learned that one is not always in control of what they pass on – strengths, weaknesses, and flaws alike.

Soong goes on to explain that the new golem he wanted to create would have various aspects of the other Soong-type androids: Lal , B-4, Lore , and "a great deal" of Data, this time with the wisdom and "true Human " aesthetic of age, and the hope that within the totality, something – someone – will rise to be the best of them. However, the records indicate that Soong died before he was able to finish the work, and that the personalities within the golem are battling one another.

Geordi thinks back to his days on the Enterprise , rushing into danger. He never feared for his life, not like he does for Sidney. He wants to help, but he cannot do so and protect his children at the same time. Picard returns to the bridge, saying they are leaving; Geordi will not help them, and he has to respect his wishes. However, he tells Sidney that her father wants to speak to her first.

Sidney point-blank asks why Geordi won't help them. He sits his daughter down, explaining that he and Picard have reached an agreement: She is to stay at the museum with him, and Picard will say for the record she was an unwilling participant in his action. Sidney protests, knowing it is not true, but Geordi tells her this is how it has to be. Sidney knows what is at stake, having seen a corpse that looked just like her. Geordi insists it should be left to Starfleet, but she reminds him that she is also a Starfleet officer. She had grown up listening to his adventures under Picard's command, how they always stood up for what was right. Geordi thinks it was a different time, but Sidney does not, thinking that it all stems from her not being like Alandra, who became an engineer like their father. While Geordi could build ships, Sidney only wanted to fly them, and she feels he took that as her rejecting him, while she believes it brought them closer. " You would believe in this if you believed in me, " she says, rising to leave. Geordi stops her, asking if she knows what he and Alandra felt when the Titan went missing, and now that they are on the run, and Sidney is jeopardizing her life and career. Sidney reminds him she is on the run with her crew. When Geordi tells her they are not her family, she hits back that they are her family, because he had taught her that. " And I'm not scared to step up and help them, " she adds. " You are. "

As she returns to the bridge, Picard and Seven consider their options. They are almost out of time; Picard thinks they may have no choice but to return to Daystrom Station and engage the two Echelon 's themselves to rescue their team, and suggests meeting with Shaw to discuss strategy. After they leave, Jack apologetically remarks on how he is partly responsible for the situation, and compliments Sidney on her ability to fly them "rather wonderfully" out of the messes he's made. This leads him to two simple questions: First, how well did they know the museum facility, and two, how do they feel about engaging in "minor larceny?" The La Forge siblings exchange amused looks at this.

Musiker wonders why Starfleet would install an insane AI to protect their deepest secrets; Riker thinks it was because it is a one-of-a-kind work of art, certainly more advanced than anything Starfleet could come up with. He recalls how it glitched out when it saw them, because it recognized them. This means that the AI saw everything that came and went in the station. " He is not protecting the manifest, " Worf realizes; " he is the manifest. " As Musiker brings up the files, an alarm sounds: Starfleet security has found them. They are out of time, and Picard is not answering their repeated comms.

The Titan suddenly begins experiencing bursts of electromagnetic radiation , causing parts of the ship to seemingly phase out of view. Geordi demands to know what Picard has done, but Picard is just as confused as he is. Just then, the Titan disappears completely; now cloaked. Geordi accuses Picard of stealing the cloaking device from the Bird-of-Prey, but as Picard protests his innocence, he stops, as both fathers realize the culprits: Their children. Jack and Sidney are attempting to install the cloak, but are having difficulty with it. Geordi warns that Starfleet will be on its way, as the theft of the cloak set off an automated security alert, and asks how many Federation treaties Picard has just violated. Picard half-jokingly replies they will have to add it to his tab, before pleading with Geordi to help them. Geordi finally gives in, heading down to engineering (with a not-at-all-joking demand to Jack to stay away from his daughter) to help properly install the cloak.

Musiker works to free the android, but sees Starfleet security coming right up to them; she will not have time. Drawing his phaser, Riker (over Worf's protests) rushes in to give them that time. The Titan moves in under cloak, but Seven warns that they will have to decloak to beam the team out. As the Titan flies in, Riker is exchanging fire with the security officers, before taking a hit to the back from a transport inhibitor tag. Shaw orders what signals can be locked onto to be beamed out, as the Titan escapes to warp. Geordi and Jack meet the team in the transporter room, hearing of Riker's capture. " We have lost one friend in battle, but gained another, " Worf says, as he steps aside to reveal their new "friend," Geordi then recognizes as the aged face of Data.

Act Four [ ]

Worf promises to Picard that he will find Riker and bring him home: " And fearful be the god or man or beast that stands in my way. " Picard sincerely thanks him, and sends him on his way. Jack then enters, offering his apologies about Riker. He goes on to admit he can be a lot of things, mostly a "prick at the bar" who says things he can't take back, and maybe a bit cocky (" A bit? " Picard wonders). But he likes to think he has a few virtues as well, such as compassion, tenacity, and being principled, as well as occasionally clever. All of those, he gets from his mother. However, he also has courage, loyalty, and wisdom beyond his years, and until a week ago, he had no idea where those traits came from. Maybe he didn't just get some "bullshit disease" from his father, but "some of the good bits" as well. " Maybe, " Picard agrees.

In sickbay, Geordi admits to Sidney that he is not angry at her for what she did, but disappointed in himself for not doing what his younger self would have done, expressing his pride in her. He then asks for an ionic flow regulator , but Sidney corrects him by saying he needed the focal adjustment spanner for the main port. When he asks how she knew, she answers that the reason she crashed so many speeders as a kid was to spend time with him fixing them. Picard, Beverly, and Worf enter a moment later, Picard stunned to see Data once again, having watched him die twice now. Geordi points out that he had watched Data the android die, but this was something else. The personalities had yet to be integrated, but the information is still there. Worf asks if he could tell them what Vadic stole from Daystrom, and Geordi believes he can, assuming he is sane enough to speak. He can reboot the android body, but warns that he can not completely isolate Data even with the personality partitions in place, so they will not know who they are going to get. Picard gives him the go-ahead, and Geordi brings the android online by flipping a switch at the back of the android's neck . He appears confused, but recognizes Geordi and Picard (addressing the latter as "captain"), saying that there are many voices of himself inside Daystrom Android M-5-10 , but only one speaks about them with the most fondness. He says that he is Data, but then corrects that to say that he was Data. Beverly sees him as like Picard: Synthetic, but human. Picard asks him about the break-in at Daystrom. The android cycles through its personalities: Lore, B-4, even Altan Soong, also repeating Picard's name over and over. Finally, however, it accesses the manifest, finding the item that the Changelings stole: Human remains… the original organic body of Picard himself.

Aboard Daystrom Station, a security officer is attempting to beat the location of Picard and Jack out of Riker. Bloody but unbowed, Riker refuses outright, earning him another punch to the face. The security officer stares at him for a moment before drawing a phaser and vaporizing the two other officers in the room… before its shape becomes that of Vadic, who cheerfully greets him. Taken aboard the Shrike , Riker sizes up Vadic's burly-looking companion, wondering how much of that "goo shit" they poured into him, earning another hard strike across the face. Riker keeps up his good cheer, however, asking if Vadic thought he would give up more than three decades of loyalty just for her. Vadic agrees that he wouldn't do it for her, before revealing who she has held in a nearby cell: Deanna Troi . " Oh, Will… ", Troi sadly says to her husband.

Memorable quotes [ ]

" A mighty Klingon taken aback by the even mightier attack tribble! " " I see you still find comfort in humor. And humor in other people's discomfort. " " You used to poke back. What happened to you? "

" Let us continue our search but tread lightly. We will not be prey, we will be... friendly energy. " " I don't understand the world anymore. "

" Greetings, old friends. "

" What solvable puzzles you all are. Your unguarded expressions, your visible scars... my, how time has spun you all apart. Such pathetic old warriors. "

" Are you trying to play a song for us? Some sort of a tune? " " Yes! Yes, a maddening melody. A saccharine song. One that I cannot get out of my head! "

" Yep, I'm definitely a Constitution -class man. "

" Oh, she's a beauty. Which one's that? " " The USS Voyager . She made her name farther out than… any of those other relics had ever gone. I was reborn there. She was my home. Her crew were my family. "

" Is that a Klingon Bird of Prey? " " The HMS Bounty , pulled from the bottom of the San Francisco Bay. " " Yeah, right, the whole whale thing. "

" Before I gifted Picard my golem, my intention was to live beyond my years. To become my own legacy. Now, I see in my final days that wasn't just poor Humanity, it was poor science... because evolution is not an act of preservation. It's addition. Into this new golem will go a bit of Lal, B-4, of Lore and, of course, a great deal of Data. This time with the true wisdom and Human aesthetic of age. With the hope in that in totality, something-- someone-- will rise to be the best of us. "

" I think back on those days on the Enterprise , all the danger we rushed into... I never feared for my life. "

" Captain, your hull is battered, bruised and basically paper-thin. You're spewing fumes through layers of 21st century duct tape. " " Yeah, it's been a weird week. "

" Geordi? Captain? " " Yes. Data, is that you? " " Yes, sir. No, sir. I… I am not certain. " " He's like you, Jean-Luc. " " I am Data. " " Synthetic… " " No, I was Data. " " But Human. "

" I'm Lore... I am B-4.... I am Soong... No, I am more. "

" Oh, look at this one. How much of that goo shit did they pour into you? "

When they view the HMS Bounty , the main title theme from Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home is heard, and when Daystrom Android M-5-10 is activated, motifs from Star Trek Nemesis can be heard.

Continuity [ ]

 • The previously unspecified neurological disorder that was diagnosed by Dr. Moritz Benayoun in " Maps and Legends " that ultimately caused the death of Picard's Human body in " Et in Arcadia Ego, Part 2 " is confirmed to be Irumodic Syndrome , which was made known to Picard by Q in TNG : " All Good Things... "

 • Riker references Data's dream of a crow that led to his discovery of his dream program in TNG : " Birthright, Part I "
 • Raffi and Picard reference Data's two previous deaths in Star Trek Nemesis and " Et in Arcadia Ego, Part 2 ".
 • Riker refers to Data's attempt to copy his memories to B-4 from Star Trek Nemesis .
 • Dr. Soong references his gifting of his Golem to Picard to restore him to life in " Et in Arcadia Ego, Part 2 ".

Reception [ ]

 • Ed Speleers later praised the writing for the scene where Jack and Seven view the ships at the Fleet Museum: “There’s a recognition of being an outsider and living on the edge and then trying to find their way into confirming with society, in this case Starfleet. They understand one another; there’s a rogue streak to them. I love that scene when they’re looking at the starships. It’s a love sort of, quite a tender moment, but it’s full of humor and it’s in the middle of everything’s that going on in Jack’s head at the point where he’s in complete shambles. To have this moment of levity with Seven, it just inflates it. It comes down to the wonderful writing. You look at the team of writers they had on board, and they nail it in terms of moments of levity, then driving back into humor, then driving back into serious tension.” [1]

Daring Tribble

 • View source

Energy credit icon.png

Daring Tribble is a Tribble : a cute, round, furry creature that purrs when touched. It has a tranquilizing effect on most races.

This breed was originally classified by an Andorian doctor who discovered the first specimen tucked away in the back of a crate of cream soda , apparently suffering from a form of sugar overdose. It was quickly named after a fellow crewmate, due to several noted similarities. Petting this tribble seems to instill a slight rush in the person holding it, translating to an increased affinity with small handheld technology.

Note: This breed is known for occasional bouts of what can only be called "snorting" when overstimulated. This does not appear to be indicative of any sort of health defect, and should be considered perfectly normal. Possibly even endearing.

This Tribble is Polygeminus grex sage .

Petting this sub-species of tribble has an invigorating effect on the psyche of most intelligent species, allowing them to react faster and perform better when interacting with most personal technology, such as Kit Modules.

Can only be activated out of combat. Warning: This species has been known to occasionally suffer fits of what can only be described as "snorting" but which does not appear to suggest any health issues.

 • +5 Kit Performance
 • +5 Kit Readiness
 • Players may only possess a single Daring Tribble. If other Cream Sodas are in your inventory during the tribble breeding time, they will simply be eaten and vanish, not producing any tribbles.
 • As per its announcement , this tribble is a reference to Shield of Tomorrow .
 • This tribble cannot be sold.

Star Trek Online Tribbles Guide

Star Trek Online logo

There are actually four main types of Tribbles: Heal, DPS , Damage Resist and Health Regen. Vitales type as displayed in the picture is actually a self-heal type so if you’re looking for one on the Exchange you’ll immediately know which one you need. You can also find double or even triple buffs type of Tribbles such as Mattson Tribble which give you both HP regen and DPS buffs. A Rivera Tribble will give you DPS, Health Regen and Damage Resistance.

 • Healing Tribble – An out of combat self heal.
 • DPS Tribble – 1 hour out of combat self damage buff.
 • Damage Resist Tribble – 1 hour out of combat self damage resistance buff.
 • Health Regen Tribble – 1 hour out of combat self regen buff.

Note that using a Tribble with for example a DPS buff and then using one with Health Regen will not stack, so finding one with double buffs is definitely more useful. There’s a detailed table available here which gives you more information about breeding Tribbles in order to get the most rare ones.

One word of advice though: as Tribbles are considered mortal enemies of Klingons they will not be able to use them!

Hello i have 2 question for you: first, i heard that u actually have to feed tribbles, if that is true how i do it? Second, most of the tribble have a 3,5 second effect duration and u cant use them in battle, so are they useless or what? Thank u, i like this blog;)

' src=

Hi, You have to feed tribbles in order for them to breed/multiply. The higher quality the food you feed a tribble the higher quality offspring it will have.

Oh, In answer to your second question. The 3.5 second buff (lets says attack buff for this example) is useful for achieving a one-hit-kill, So lets say I wanted to kill a borg and I needed to kill him asap, I would activate the tribble attack buff and attack him, thus hopefully killing him in one shot.

Recap / Star Trek: Picard S3E06 "The Bounty"

Edit locked.

The Titan has given Vadic the slip, and it's less than 72 hours until Frontier Day. After blowing away a mook who dared point this out , Vadic demands her crew check the 25th century equivalent of the internet for all of Picard's known associates, intent on finding where he went to ground.

Beverly has run some scans on Jack after his admissions in the previous episode. She has confirmed he has Irumodic Syndrome, the same thing Picard did — the same thing Picard died of, though in his case it didn't unlock a Superpowered Evil Side . Jack, drinking in the Ten Forward holodeck, gripes about what Picard passed on to him.

Worf and Raffi beam aboard the Titan , engineering two Big Damn Reunions : one between Worf and the Enterprise crew, and a slightly less fun one between Raffi and Seven, who have broken up, again . The two present their plan to get into Daystrom Station, and Riker decides to join them. They will have an hour at most to do their break-in.

Aboard Daystrom Station, Riker, Worf and Raffi work their way to the central mainframe, observed by the promised super-advanced defense AI. It incorporates Moriarty ( TNG : " Ship In A Bottle ") to slow them down, but Moriarty confesses he has an Ear Worm stuck in his head. Riker, the jazz musician, recognizes it as "Pop Goes the Weasel," and has flashbacks to when he whistled it to Data during the Enterprise 's first mission. At the station's central core, they find another synth golem: Daystrom Android M-5-10, the last work of Altan Inigo Soong, who has had a Bus Crash since the first season. Soong claims to have poured a number of personalities — Data, Lore, Lal, B-4, himself and more — into the android, which is also tempered with both the wisdom and appearance of age. The golem is not only the super-advanced defense AI, it is also the station's Wetware CPU and knows what the Changelings stole. Riker decides to have the android beamed back with them, even though the personalities are not precisely integrated.

Of course, they can't beam back; basically the instant the Titan showed up, additional Starfleet starships arrived to apprehend it. Picard orders the ship to the Athan System, where Starfleet keeps its Fleet Museum, which is currently run by Commodore Geordi La Forge. Though he's glad to see his friends, Geordi is upset at the idea of his family being dragged into danger, and exhibits Refusal of the Call . Meanwhile, Jack and Seven check out the ships of the Museum — an original Constitution-class called the New Jersey ; Kirk's NCC-1701-A ; the tough little ship herself, the USS Defiant ; the HMS Bounty , the Klingon Bird-of-Prey Kirk commandeered in 2285 ; and USS Voyager , NCC-74656, where Seven of Nine found her (first) Family of Choice — before Jack has a brainwave and asks both Sidney and her sister Alandra whether they're interested in a bit of petty larceny. Picard and La Forge are then surprised when the Titan suddenly grows an Invisibility Cloak . La Forge : You stole the goddamn cloaking device from my Bird-of-Prey? Picard : Geordi, I would never deceive you, and I would never steal from... ( thinks it through ) Jack . La Forge : Sidney .

With La Forge sticking around to stabilize the cloaking device, Titan returns to Daystrom Station, and Worf, Raffi and the synth golem come home, their mission accomplished. Jack meets Picard again with somewhat more complimentary tone: while he knows he got some bad genes from his father, he has also learned to recognize that his bravery, loyalty and discernment comes from him as well.

Geordi succeeds at reactivating his best friend. Though it is not Data as we knew him — Data is now merely one voice of many — he does succeed at explaining what the Changelings came for: Picard's corpse.

 • Actually Pretty Funny : Shaw smiles a bit when Riker quips at Picard's use of the word "burgle".
 • Ambiguous Situation : Given Vadic and her crew are Changelings, there is a valid question of whether or not that actually is Deanna being held captive aboard the Shrike , or if they're a duplicate "Deanna" there to try and trick Will into giving up Jack's location.
 • Ape Shall Not Kill Ape : Subverted. Given how sacrosanct this commandment was for DS9 -era Founders, you'd expect this would be the norm among Vadic and the rest of the renegade Founders. Instead, it's a sign of just how extremist and divergent the Dominion Renegade Splinter Faction is that Vadic has no compunctions whatsover about killing one of her Changeling underlings after they criticize her one too many times.
 • While the Defiant and Voyager had been previously rendered in CGI during their respective shows' runs, digital technology's advanced by leaps and bounds over the last 20 years (to say nothing of the original models having been rendered for standard definition TV). So, the new CGI models for the beloved Defiant and Intrepid -class ships are much more detailed and in high definition compared to their earlier CGI predecessors.
 • Inverted with the U.S.S. New Jersey and the U.S.S. Enterprise -A. With the updated design of the Constitution-Class starship, which debuted in Discovery and shown at length in Strange New Worlds , it would make sense that the New Jersey would share this design. However, possibly because this would mean the Enterprise -A would also have to updated as well, as it would need to be an update to this design, and both ships are more recognizable with the original design, the VFX team chose to go with the original design, even if it doesn't make sense from a timeline-standpoint.
 • Ascended Fanon : Kinda. Star Trek IV has always been known among fans as "The One with the Whales". In-universe, Jack refers to the Probe incident as " the whole whale thing ".
 • When briefing the Titan characters on his and Raffi's findings, Worf again recounts the broad strokes of the Dominion War, the Morphogenic Virus that nearly wiped out the Founders, and Section 31's role in its creation and deployment. This, again, is more for newer viewers who haven't seen Deep Space Nine .
 • When Worf mentions that Daystrom stores Section 31's off-the-books tech, Riker exclaims "Section 31?" and Worf gives a brief description of their nature. Riker then clarifies that he knew that already, and is simply surprised to learn where they're keeping their toys.
 • Back from the Dead : Data, or at least an amalgamation of Data circa Nemesis , along with the now-deactivated B-4 and Lore (and a bit of Lal), and the now-deceased Altan Soong.
 • Bad Boss : Vadic has one of her underlings killed for saying that they have no means of locating the Titan .
 • Bait-and-Switch : In-Universe , when Captain Shaw expresses his admiration for Geordi as a former engineer, the latter responds by criticizing how beat up the Titan is from its misadventures, before saying he'd like geek out with Shaw about how he's keeping it running.
 • Bookends : The Enterprise -A was first introduced to the TOS crew and audiences alike at Spacedock. Now, it's final resting place is ironically the same Spacedock.
 • Boyfriend-Blocking Dad : It takes Geordi all of two seconds to realize Sidney and Jack have a potential thing going, and even less time to warn him against it.
 • Brain Uploading : Before Altan Soong died, he uploaded his mind into Daystrom Android M-5-10 along with the personalities of Data, Lore, B-4, and Data's daughter Lal. While the process wasn't what Soong considered "complete", his mind is shown to be intact within M-5-10 and is able to assert control over the android for brief periods.
 • Break the Haughty : A minor case. After spending the season being a jerk who is infuriatingly poignant in why he's a jerk , Captain Shaw gets dressed down by his hero Geordi LaForge about the state of repair of his ship. All Shaw can do in response is sheepishly answer "It's been a weird week" while still standing at attention.
 • When Riker first met Data when he was trying, and failing, to whistle "Pop Goes the Weasel." After Data's Heroic Sacrifice in Star Trek: Nemesis , in his memorial Riker mentions this encounter but sadly couldn't remember the exact tune Data was trying. In this episode as they are trying to explore the Daystrom Station, the security measures kick in and sends out oddly musical chimes. Riker, being a musician, was catching on to the exact notes being played and realized it was "Pop Goes The Weasel," and on a wild guess finishes the last couple beats, by which security turns off. This was the lead-in to the discover that a part of Data was actually in charge of the security system.
 • Broad Strokes : Via Art Evolution the classic Constitution-class design had been altered for Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds , largely to move beyond the Zeerust Canon that had been used before. At the fleet museum a Constitution-class USS New Jersey is seen (a stand-in for the original Enterprise as it had seen a refit and was destroyed) utilizing the original design and not the one created for this "era" of Star Trek productions.
 • For that matter, there's also the Enterprise -A, the Defiant , the Klingon Bird-of-Prey from Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home , and another TOS-era Bird-of-Prey.
 • Back in "Relics" , Picard had told Scotty there was a pre-refit Constitution -class vessel in the Fleet Museum. Here, we finally see it (and it's revealed to be the New Jersey ).
 • Moriarty's opening words are "I think, therefore I am."
 • Similarly, Riker initially struggles to recognize and remember the tune — something he previously did after Data's death in Nemesis . This time around, he finally remembers, thanks to having an audio cue.
 • The crow that appeared in Data's very first dreams also returns as part of the Daystrom AI's holographic avatars. It's also an intentional in-universe callback; Data's personality is trying to communicate with Riker and clue him in by using a memorable incident from their days aboard the Enterprise -D. Riker eventually realizes its significance and explains the callback to Worf and Raffi.
 • This also isn't the first time Data's had multiple personalities in his head.
 • When he reunites with Beverly, Geordi says he was having trouble deciding whether to hug her or shake hands before settling on a hug. In "All Good Things...", in the anti-time future, Picard and Beverly also had the same trouble before settling on a hug, too.
 • Calling the Old Man Out : Sidney furiously tells off her dad when he tries to protect her and make her claim she was an unwilling participant in the situation, saying that her shipmates are just as much her family as he and Alandra are and that he taught her to always stand up for family.
 • Elements of David Mack's Star Trek: Cold Equations (part of the now non-canon Star Trek: The Next Generation Relaunch ) are formally canonized with Data's resurrection. B-4's copy of Data's memories are, just as in the novel, part of the basis for resurrecting Data. Similarly, it's not Data ressurrected, but a completely new and distinct being that's an amalgam of Data and Soong (or at least Altan, rather than Noonien in the book's case).
 • Enterprise NX-01 from Star Trek: Enterprise can be seen in the background but might be easy to miss, as it appeared post- Series Finale it had the secondary hull refit that debuted in the "Ships of the Line" calendar.
 • The Caper : Picard and company realize they're going to have to break into Daystrom Station — one of the most secure facilities in all of Starfleet — to figure out what the renegade Changelings actually stole.
 • Captain Obvious : Jack being able to identify the Defiant and the New Jersey isn't that impressive when their names are clearly visible on the viewscreen.
 • Central Theme : Legacy through what parents pass on to their children. Parents hope to pass on the best, but it's often a mix, and they can only hope that what results is better than what came before. This is iterated very plainly through a recording left by Altan Soong and his vision for the new composite android he created, realizing he had to create something new and not keep trying to replicate himself, which is interspersed with different groups of characters discussing their family connections.
 • Clear My Name : During the burglary planning, Picard's hope is that discovering the true objective of the Changelings' Daystrom theft will allow them to clear their names from the Frame-Up last episode.
 • Composite Character : In-Universe , Altan Soong created a new android golem body with the idea of Brain Uploading himself, but saw the philosophical flaw in that direction and turned towards uniting multiple Noonien Soong androids into one mind, hoping to create something new and original in the process. This new body thus uses Data as the template but includes the memories, personality and emotions of Lore, B-4, Lal and Altan himself. At this stage they are not united, making it more of a Sharing a Body situation.
 • Continuity Cavalcade : The Daystrom Institute Station is basically an Area 51-esque black site for Starfleet, with corridors and corridors of dangerous tech and other top secret icons. Among them include a Genesis II Device, the remains of James T. Kirk and a genetically modified "Attack Tribble." In conjunction with this was the Titan crew visiting the Fleet Museum, among which contains the Enterprise-A, Voyager and the HMS Bounty, the Klingon Bird-Of-Prey that crashed in the San Francisco Bay.
 • Geordi notes that the Titan -A fielding a cloaking device is a treaty violation (presumably still the Treaty of Algeron), as it was in "The Pegasus".
 • Riker tries to get Worf to call him Will similar to how Kirk attempted to Picard in Generations .
 • Riker passes by an advanced version of the Genesis torpedo and the phasing cloak from " The Pegasus ".
 • There's a genetically-modified "attack Tribble" at Daystrom. Worf is still not a fan .
 • Picard isn't even the only legendary Starfleet captain whose corpse is stored at Daystrom — Raffi passes a panel indicating that they have Kirk's as well. It's even accompanied by a burst of the traditional Trek theme intro.
 • Geordi's office at the Athan Fleet Museum contains a model of an Excelsior -class ship, a 23rd Century-era United Federation Planets pennant , and a miniature replica of Zefram Cochrane's statue . The Cochrane statue is also the same replica type that Jonathan Archer had in his Ready Room aboard the NX-01 (and given this is the Fleet Museum, it's possible it may very well be Archer's statue).
 • Crisis Crossover : Downplayed example. But Worf and Raffi's arrival aboard the Titan marks the very first time that lead characters from TNG, DS9 , VOY, and PIC have all been gathered together in a single scene/locale and interacting at once. In other words, all four live-action series of the 24th Century era are thus represented and now officially teaming up to stop the existential threat the Changeling conspiracy poses to the UFP and Starfleet.
 • Critical Staffing Shortage : With the late Ro having transferred most of the crew over to Intrepid last episode, the Titan is now operating with a skeleton crew.
 • Defrosting Ice Queen : Geordi is initially cold and unfriendly towards his former shipmates, being that they've put his daughter in danger. However, he is genuinely happy to see Beverly again after more than 20 years and hugs her.
 • Demoted to Extra : Moriarty is demoted from Villain of the Week for two episodes of The Next Generation to only appearing in about 2 scenes here, acting as security to the Daystrom Station.
 • Didn't See That Coming : The Titan -A characters and Worf and Raffi were all justifiably certain the Changelings had stolen some kind of advanced weapon or piece of technology from Daystrom for their conspiracy. They never anticipated it might be something non-technological, mundane, and seemingly innocuous, like human remains — and not just any human remains, but Picard's biological corpse.
 • Didn't Think This Through : Stealing the cloaking device off of the H.M.S. Bounty was not a smart move on Jack and Sydney's part. Stealing it tripped off an automatic alarm that is going to have Starfleet on their asses and using it is going to violate a ton of treaties. All Picard can tell Geordi is that they'll "have to put it on my tab". And then, there's the fact that they're trying to hotwire a piece of 23rd century Klingon tech to a 24th/25th century Starfleet ship.
 • Double-Meaning Title : Bounty could refer to the bounty that the rogue Founders have on Jack, or it could refer to the H.M.S. Bounty .
 • Dramatic Irony : Picard and company realize that to solve the mystery of the Changeling break-in at Daystrom, they ironically are likewise going to have to break into Daystrom. Picard also lampshades the irony they're burgling the very institution that's hunting them.
 • Drowning My Sorrows : After being diagnosed with Irumodic Syndrome, Jack seeks comfort in bourbon.
 • Ear Worm : As an extension of the Daystrom AI (i.e. Data's amalgamated consciousnesses), Moriarty has the melody of "Pop Goes the Weasel" stuck in his head. It's quite understandably driving him crazy. Riker : B Flat, D Flat...C Sharp, A Flat...Are you trying to play a song for us? Some sort of a tune? Moriarty : Yes! Yes, a maddening melody! A saccharine song! One that I cannot get out of my head!
 • "Eureka!" Moment : When discussing the Bird-of-Prey stolen by Kirk's crew and eventually crashed into San Francisco bay, Seven notes that Starfleet had trouble finding it because it disappeared, i.e. because it cloaked . Jack quickly comes up with an idea for some larceny that will improve their odds of evading capture.
 • Everything Is Online : Geordi reveals that modern Starfleet ships automatically communicate with each other in proximity, so even if the Titan could discard their transponder beacon, simply flying near any Starfleet ship will instantly expose them.
 • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap! : When the Fleet Museum's alarm goes off, Geordi is initially furious at Picard for stealing the cloaking device, assuming Picard's efforts to talk him into helping were a distraction. Picard denies any involvement, but both quickly realize their children are behind this.
 • Failed a Spot Check : When Picard accepts the Fleet Museum's hail, he's initially relieved and focused on reuniting with his old Chief Engineer and coming up with a plan to rescue the Away Team from Daystrom. It thus doesn't immediately register with him that Geordi doesn't look at all happy to see him.
 • Fanboy : Captain Shaw is one of Geordi, and Jack reveals himself to be one of the Constitution class, specifically Kirk's Enterprise . Hopefully Worf and Raffi didn't tell him Kirk's remains aren't on Daystrom Station.
 • Fauxshadowing : The Titan -A crew arrives at the Fleet Museum, and learn from the La Forge family that all modern Starfleet ships are integrated; there's no way they can go anywhere without being tracked. As it happens, none of the vessels at the Museum are up to modern standards, so it's not out of the realm of possibility they could have borrowed one of them to hide. Jack in particular looks at the H.M.S. Bounty , and both of Geordi's daughters seem to have the same idea...but they're not stealing the Bounty . Rather, they "borrow" her cloaking device.
 • Fish out of Temporal Water : Downplayed, but a variation with Data's personality and perspective within the Data golem. Since this is the copy of Data's memories and personality that were downloaded into B-4 during Nemesis , Data initially still believes it's 2379 and he's aboard the Enterprise -E (ex. still addressing Picard as Captain rather than by post- Nemesis Rank Up ). From his perspective, Data has for all intents been thrown decades into the future and is confused by the now-much older appearances of Picard and Geordi (or Worf and Beverly).
 • Sidney tries to warn Picard (just as they're about to accept a hail from Geordi) that the call with her father may not be the best idea. She's quickly proven right, as Geordi is (initially) cold and unfriendly.
 • When asked by Picard what Vadic stole from Daystrom, Data glitches out and repeats "Jean-Luc Picard" several times. When they finally get him to focus, he projects a holographic image from his eyes. It's none other than Jean-Luc Picard, in the literal flesh; Vadic stole Picard's corpse.
 • Flashback : When putting the pieces together about 'Moriarty' and Daystrom's AI, Riker flashes back to "Encounter at Farpoint" and his and Data's very first meeting on the Enterprise -D Holodeck.
 • Flat Character : Moriarty. As Riker notes, this isn't the self-aware hologram they encountered on the Enterprise -D, but rather a more basic security measure that only captures the hostility of the original Moriarty program.
 • In addition to the Genesis Device and the Attack Tribble, Riker gets a look at something in cold storage: the mortal remains of one James T. Kirk. This sets up how the Changelings came for the mortal remains of one Jean-Luc Picard.
 • Kirk's corpse was last seen on Veridian III, where Picard buried it ( Star Trek: Generations ). Other pieces of modern technology — such as, you know, the saucer section of the freaking Enterprise — were left there as well... in violation of the Alien Non-Interference Clause , which was used in the not-precisely-canon William Shatner novel The Return to justify Kirk's corpse being disinterred in the first place. Well, let's just say that this episode confirms that Shatner was on to something.
 • Speaking of the saucer of the Enterprise , it's been confirmed in previous episodes that it's here at the Museum, but she isn't seen with the rest of the ships. This will be important later.
 • When the Titan Away Team beams over to Daystrom and the AI tags them, it focuses on Riker. As soon as it does, the broken music notes start playing on the Station speakers. It's almost as if... the AI knows that Riker is an amateur musician, that he might recognize the musical notes, and is trying to communicate something musically.
 • In addition, when Worf activates the key that temporarily disarms the security systems, the overlapping computer voices include one that sounds like Brent Spiner , hinting at The Reveal of who's controlling the system.
 • Similarly, when we get our first look at the Fleet Museum, all its berths are currently displaying ships in the collection...but one's conspicuously empty. While the ‘’Titan’’ remains moored there for the duration of their attempt to recruit Geordi, nobody thinks to ask why it’s empty or what exhibit Geordi is eventually intending to display there (which is justified, as their current focus is on finding a way to help the team back at Daystrom). And then Allandra mentions the mysterious Hangar 12 in passing...
 • Seven reflecting to Jack on Voyager and its legacy. As it will turn out, Voyager 's sojurun through the Delta Quadrant is crucial to the overarching Season mystery and threat.
 • Following on from the ending of "Imposter", the compromised Starfleet is now hunting the Titan -A. They're on the run and have 48 hours to break into Daystrom — one of the most secure Federation facilities — and figure out what the Changelings stole and how it factors into Frontier Day.
 • Riker is being tortured by Starfleet security for Picard's whereabouts. Except the one doing it isn't Starfleet, it's actually Vadic, and she has Troi.
 • Fugitive Arc : Following on from the ending of "Imposter", the compromised Starfleet is now hunting the Titan -A and they're on the run.
 • Genre Blind : Downplayed, but as they're running from a Changeling conspiracy that's compromised Starfleet, neither Picard, Beverly, or Sidney thinks to do a Bluff the Imposter just to be safe and to ascertain if this is indeed Geordi and not an imposter. It may be possible, however, that Sidney confronting her father doubled as her Bluff the Imposter moment, albeit downplayed.
 • Got Volunteered : Geordi refuses to help, but when Jack and Sidney steal a cloaking device for the Titan , he's left with little choice but to make sure they aren't caught.
 • Graceful Loser : Once Riker solves the music puzzle, Moriarty genuinely remarks "Marvelous" and then deactivates.
 • Hates Being Touched : As Riker dryly lampsahdes, Worf as ever isn't one for public displays of affection. Doesn't stop Beverley from hugging him (and considering this is the first time they've seen each other in 20 years, Worf doesn't protest...too much, anyway.)
 • Heel Realization : Geordi realizes that his anger wasn't at Sidney or his former shipmates, but at himself for not doing what he knew was right and helping them from the start.
 • Hero of Another Story : The Constitution -class U.S.S. New Jersey , which is hosted at the Fleet Museum and, by implication, was one of the most famous Starfleet vessels of the mid-23rd century — although we never saw its voyages or even heard of it before this episode (or at least barring Picard's indirect mention of it back during "Relics").
 • Heroic Sacrifice : Riker holds off Starfleet security while Worf and Raffi free Data from the Daystrom core, leading to him being tagged with a transport inhibitor and captured.
 • How the Mighty Have Fallen : Moriarty's sneering opinion of the (from his perspective) now-elderly Riker and Worf. Moriarty : What solvable puzzles you all are. Your unguarded expressions, your physical scars. My, how time has spun you all apart. Such pathetic old warriors!
 • I Have Your Wife : Riker scoffs at the idea that he would betray his friends to Vadic. Vadic shows him someone he would betray his friends for: Troi.
 • Internal Reveal : Picard and the Titan -A characters learn the truth that Worf and Raffi uncovered about the Daystrom theft on their end over the last 5 episodes.
 • Invisibility Cloak : Jack and Sidney swipe the cloaking device from Kirk's old Bird-of-Prey , allowing the Titan -A to cloak.
 • Jump Scare : The Attack Tribble that doesn't let a Daystrom vault stop it from trying to take a bite out of Worf.
 • Kansas City Shuffle : Worf and Raffi share their conclusions about how the Daystrom theft was actually one. Upon reviewing the evidence, Beverly and Shaw concur with their assessment. The investigation and break-in at Daystrom proves they're correct, as the Portal Technology was cover for really stealing Picard's mortal remains from the end of Season One. Beverly: Steal the diamonds so nobody checks on the pearls.
 • Killer Rabbit : For reasons known only to whatever deranged person designed it, there's a genetically-modified Tribble at Daystrom that leaps at the glass when Worf examines its case, showing a mouth full of sharp teeth.
 • The Knights Who Say "Squee!" : As a former engineer, Shaw has to summon every ounce of his professionalism not to be completely giddy about having the Geordi La Forge on his ship.
 • Geordi transporting onto the Titan -A is accompanied by an excerpt of Jerry Goldsmith's "The Meld and A Good Start" from The Motion Picture . Similarly, Worf's arrival with Raffi is likewise heralded by Goldsmith's "Klingon Theme".
 • When Seven and Jack are reviewing the contents of the Fleet Museum, snippets of the main themes from TOS, The Voyage Home , DS9 , and VOY accompany their respective star ships (the Enterprise -A, the HMS Bounty , the Defiant , and Voyager ).
 • Jerry Goldsmith's theme for Data from Nemesis also plays when the Data golem is reactivated aboard the Titan and Data initially is the dominant personality.
 • Living MacGuffin : Daystrom's computer core and AI security are a single being: Data. Or, to be more precise, Data, Lore, Lal, B-4, and Altan Soong all stored in a single synthetic body like Picard's.
 • Match Cut : Present Day Riker's first glimpse of the Data golem seamlessly cuts to the same angle of the younger Riker's first glimpse of the original Data in the holodeck during " Encounter at Farpoint ".
 • Mind Hive : The Data golem. Altan Soong died before he could integrate all of the Soong androids personalities into one cohesive whole, so instead the various fragments of personality are at war with each other for control.
 • One of the items in Daystrom is a Tribble with sharp teeth. In Star Trek Online , one of the Tribble breeds is the "Cannibal Tribble", which would eat other Tribbles in a player’s inventory.
 • Riker passes by a locker with an item called the Genesis II Device, both a reference to Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and a TV movie Gene Roddenberry produced in the early 70's before Star Trek came back.
 • Needle in a Stack of Needles : Shaw has the Titan -A park in one of the docking bays at the Fleet Museum, so people won't immediately notice them among the actual relics.
 • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero : Downplayed, but it's confirmed the renegade Founders — and by extension the Great Link — know the morphogenic virus that nearly killed their entire race during the Dominion War was actually engineered by rogue Federation elements (i.e. Section 31). That revelation could only have come from Odo, who would've brought the knowledge back with him when he returned to the Link at the end of DS9 . So, Odo's homecoming and internal reformation efforts are indeed partly responsible for the schism within the Link and the emergence of Vadic and her Renegade Splinter Faction .
 • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished : Again, Odo's compassion and bringing the morphogenic virus cure back to the Great Link at the end of the Dominion War. As Shaw states, this act of goodwill only weaponized zealots among the Founders and caused the schism.
 • Not Now, Kiddo : Sidney tries to warn Picard and Shaw twice that going to her father for help isn't going to go the way they hope. She's ignored and overruled (and ultimately proven correct).
 • O.O.C. Is Serious Business : Geordi is not welcoming (initially) of Picard and the Titan -A crew, acting cold and unfriendly. Considering the Titan -A has 'officially' gone renegade and that his daughter's a part of it, Geordi's behavior isn't surprising.
 • Older and Wiser : Invoked figuratively and literally with the Data golem. Altan Soong's final log states his goal was to give Data the physical appearance and mental prowess of human age and wisdom.
 • Once Done, Never Forgotten : Worf states there are still scars and shame within both the Federation and the Great Link from the Dominion War. In particular, the renegade Founders are still pissed about the Section 31-engineered morphogenic virus which nearly wiped out the Changelings.
 • Patrick Stewart Speech : Jack unintentionally starts channeling his father while he and Seven are reviewing the Fleet Museum's collection. Seven (good-naturedly) pokes fun at this and at the Trope Namer. Jack : You're just trying to find [another family]. We all long for connection. But we're just a little bit alone, aren't we? Stars in the same galaxy, but light-years between us. Seven : Oh, you are definitely your father's son. He too has a knack for the, um, poetic drive-by observation. Can be very annoying ... but it can also make a person feel seen.
 • Proud Warrior Race Guy : Amusingly subverted as Riker becomes acquainted with the now-pacifistic Zen Master Worf. Over the course of the episode, Riker becomes increasingly unhappy and frustrated with how much Worf's changed since Nemesis (i.e. moving beyond this Trope) and how his old playful dynamic with the Klingon Warrior thus isn't the same.
 • Putting the Band Back Together : Figuratively, while they are not all in the same room, this is the episode that has all of the TNG characters in the same episode. At the end of the episode, Picard, La Forge, Beverly, Worf and Data (intermixed with Altan Soong, Lore, B-4, and Lal within an archive) are on the Titan -A, while Riker and Troi are on the Shrike .
 • There are 48 hours remaining until Frontier Day, so Picard and company now have only two days to evade the now-compromised Starfleet, figure out what the Changelings really stole from Daystrom, and avert their plot.
 • Worf, Riker, and Raffi only have an hour on Daystrom before security finds them, a situation complicated by the fact that the Titan is detected minutes after they're beamed aboard and forced to flee.
 • Ragnarök Proofing : The Bounty 's cloaking device must be exceptionally robust to still work properly, almost 120 years after being stressed to its limits while visiting the 20th century in The Voyage Home , and then getting dunked in San Francisco Bay upon the ship's crash-landing for an extended period of time until Starfleet managed to find and recover the ship. Superior Klingon technology indeed!
 • Rank Up : In the 20+ years since Nemesis , Geordi has gone from the Enterprise -E Chief Engineer (and a Commander) to a Commodore and Curator of the Fleet Museum.
 • Red Oni, Blue Oni : Daystrom Station and the Fleet Museum are both space stations used for storing things of high value. While Daystrom Station stores very dangerous things such as advanced weapons prototypes, the Fleet Museum maintains historically significant starships. Former members of the Enterprise crew can also be found in both places.
 • The item even more dangerous than the portal technology is the corpse of Jean-Luc Picard.
 • Downplayed example, but Shaw's dialogue when they reach the Fleet Museum reveals that the Earth Spacedock we saw in "The Next Generation" is actually not the same Spacedock that first appeared in The Search for Spock and across all the subsequent TOS films. It's actually a successor Station; the TOS-era Spacedock has since been retired, towed to Athan Prime, and converted into the current Fleet Museum facility.
 • Revenge : It's revealed the renegade Founders aren't simply trying to avenge the Dominion's loss in the Alpha Quadrant. The Great Link knows of the Federation's role in the creation of the morphogenic plague that nearly wiped out the Changelings during the War. This is personal and payback for that attempted genocide.
 • Rule of Symbolism : Worf and Raffi agree with the late Ro Laren's fears that the Changelings' endgame is somehow linked to Frontier Day. Picard concurs, pointing out that Starfleet's 250th anniversary is the perfect time and place to make a statement (for good or ill).
 • Scars Are Forever : Downplayed, but justifiably averted with the Enterprise -A's presence in the Fleet Museum. The extensive damage that General Chang's Bird-of-Prey inflicted above Khitomer has long since been repaired by Starfleet archivists and engineers.
 • Ship Tease : Jack and Sidney team up to take the cloaking device from the bird of prey. The two complement each other. Geordi picks up on this and tells Jack to stay away from Sidney.
 • Shaw's reaction to meeting Geordi La Forge recalls a meeting with another superfan who struggled to speak in LeVar Burton's presence.
 • The scene of Worf getting startled by a contained "attack tribble" is similar to the scene in Aliens where Burke is startled by a contained facehugger.
 • Skewed Priorities : Played for levity with Riker's response to Picard's burglary analogy. Riker: Excellent use of the word "burgle", Admiral.
 • Smoking Gun : Discussed when Picard and company are planning their Daystrom burglary. The Daystrom Smoking Gun is whatever the Changelings really stole under cover of Kansas City Shuffle. As Riker lampshades, therein of course lies the problem: Said Smoking Gun itself is long gone from Daystrom and now in their enemy's hands. Their only option, as Picard observes, is to therefore 'follow the smoke' (i.e. backtrack Daystrom's inventory and project manifest and use that to identify the all-powerful missing MacGuffin ).
 • Spin-Offspring : While we've already met Sidney La Forge, Geordi's other daughter Alandra debuts in this episode.
 • Voyager being decommissioned and ending up in the Fleet Museum following "Endgame". Voyager went from being one of the inaugural ships of the Intrepid -class to one of the most important vessels in Federation history. Preserving it for future generations would thus be a top priority for Starfleet historians. As Voyager returned in the aftermath of the Dominion War, there would also be PR value in making the ship — a symbol of Starfleet's mission, bravery, and heroism in the face of unimaginable odds — available to Federation citizens while trying to rebuild post-War morale. An honorable retirement was also certainly mandated from an engineering perspective — and not just to evaluate the alien technologies they'd brought home. While the Intrepid -class was built for long-term exploration, its designers also obviously never anticipated something like the Delta Quadrant. After spending over half a decade without access to drydock facilities and under near-constant stress, battle, and exposure to God knows what else to get its crew home, Voyager would almost certainly have been too structurally compromised to remain in active service regardless.
 • For that matter, the Defiant and the Enterprise -A probably suffered enough structural stress in battle that also justified their own retirements. Fortunately, they were still intact enough (unlike the original Enterprise NCC-1701, and the Enterprise -C and -D (who's saucer section is preserved there, but isn't seen)) to preserve in the Fleet Museum for posterity. The Defiant in particular was nearly destroyed in her last appearance , and the first one was already destroyed, so Starfleet wouldn't want to take the chance of losing another named ship again.
 • Once the Probe Incident had been resolved, it makes complete sense that Starfleet would recover the HMS Bounty from San Francisco Bay (and not simply to memorialize it for its role in saving Earth). Similarly to modern maritime wrecks, leaving a sunken vessel with an active antimatter reactor and weapon systems a stone's throw away from a populated locale like San Francisco (let alone Starfleet HQ) would've been too hazardous. More, recovering the Bounty would've given Starfleet unprecedented access to then-cutting edge Klingon technology and weaponry. Such an evaluation and reverse engineering would've been invaluable during those final years of the Federation-Klingon Cold War.
 • Despite the risk of the Titan being a beacon due to the extensive use of fleet integration, taking one of the ships at the museum would've been even more dangerous as "preserved in a museum" does not mean "spaceworthy and mission-ready". Restoring one of those starships to anything resembling spaceworthyness would've taken more time and resources than they had. However, taking a preserved cloaking device and retrofitting it to the Titan is much faster and safer, though still not without an element of risk. Likewise, as "In A Mirror Darkly" demonstrated by having the Constitution class Defiant slaughter the entire 22nd century Terran Empire fleet, none of the museum's ships, not even Defiant or Voyager , are capable of holding their own against 25th century vessels—untrackable or no, they would be shot down before they could even move an inch.
 • With the end of the Federation's ban on synthetic life following Season One, Federation research into positronic-based artificial intelligence has resumed.
 • It turns out, unleashing a genetic virus on an entire species is not a good way to convince an entire race of peaceful intentions. Some of the more zealous Changelings refused to forgive Starfleet for that transgression, and decided to pay them back in kind. That the plague's architects were rogue citizens and that their actions were unsanctioned is also irrelevant; it only proves to them all Solids are evil and cannot be trusted.
 • Starfleet recovering Kirk’s remains from Veridian III after Generations . As Trek novelists Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens argued in their 1996 novel The Return , Starfleet would have had to remove the Saucer Section and Kirk's remains from Veridian III bcause of the Prime Directive. Leaving remnants of alien technology and life behind would've risked cultural contamination of the pre-Warp civilization on Veridian IV once they began exploring their Solar System. Kirk's also the most famous and accomplished Human Starfleet Captain since Jonathan Archer; the Federation would want to honor one of its greatest heroes and not leave him rotting in the middle of nowhere. However, Kirk did also spend nearly a century inside one of the most unique and powerful phenomena Starfleet’s ever encountered; it makes sense his remains would be studied to try and further understand the Nexus. It would also not be surprising if his remains were publicly recovered for a memorial, but then privately and quietly removed (or not even really interred at all) to further study them.
 • Terms of Endangerment : Upon being activated, Moriarty expresses his delight at being reunited with his "old friends" from the Enterprise -D ... by leveling and cocking a loaded pistol at them.
 • Took a Level in Badass : By the end of this episode, the otherwise Fragile Speedster Titan -A can now cloak , courtesy of a cloaking device stolen from the Bird-of-Prey from The Voyage Home .
 • Took a Level in Jerkass : Geordi has seemingly become this since Nemesis . However, it's justified, as the Titan has gone renegade and his daughter's been pulled into it, and his concern is thus for her safety in Papa Wolf fashion.
 • Too Dumb to Live : The Changeling on the Shrike bridge who gets vaporized for talking back to Vadic. He keeps criticizing Vadic's leadership desite her being clearly trigger-happy and having made clear she was gonna shoot the next mook who told her they had yet to locate Picard.
 • Tracking Device : The Starfleet ships at Daystrom have weapons which, should they hit the Titan -A even once, would leave an energy signature that could be tracked anywhere.
 • Two Lines, No Waiting : Following on from the ending of "Imposter", Worf and Raffi's storyline has fully converged with the Titan -A's storyline.
 • Uncertain Doom : Kestra Riker's fate, with the reveal that Deanna was captured by the Changeling conspiracy (and assuming that is Deanna and not a Changeling masquerading as her to try and trick Riker). If that is indeed the real Deanna, it's left unrevealed whether the Rikers' daughter is also aboard the Shrike , if she was left behind or killed, is hiding back on Nepenthe, or some other fate.
 • Walk-In Chime-In : While trying to fix the malfunctioning cloaking device, Sidney admits she doesn't know how to fix it. Cue Geordi walking in and casually mentioning that he does know.
 • We Want Our Jerk Back! : Kinda; it'd be more accurate to call it "We Want our Grumpy Klingon Back". Riker has immense difficulty coping with the post- Nemesis Worf and laments his once playful dynamic with the onetime Proud Warrior Race Guy is no longer the same now. Riker : You used to poke back [at my teasing]! What happened to you?!
 • The Daystrom Station's sophisticated Security AI is none other than another Soong-type android.
 • The visual record of what Vadic and the Chanelings really stole from Daystrom...is Picard's original biological body from the end of Season One.
 • With the reveal that Daystrom Moriarty is not the same self-aware Hologram from TNG, it leaves open the question of what's become of the Professor's Tech Cube since "Ship in a Bottle". It's possible Daystrom does have the Cube (and if so, that it would be in the Institute's Evil AI Vault back on Earth). It's also possible the Cube was destroyed with the Enterprise -D stardrive section during Generations .
 • Amongst the Starfleet vessels preserved at the Fleet Museum, there are sadly those that didn't make it to posterity—the original Enterprise NCC-1701, the Enterprise -C, the star drive section of the Enterprise -D (the saucer section is there, but isn't seen), the original Defiant Sisko designed, and (officially, but not really ) the Discovery . But of the other big name Trek ships, the Enterprise -B (whose fate hasn't been disclosed in canon), the Enterprise -E (whose final mission is marked "classified"), the Cerritos (whose journey has yet to conclude), and the Protostar (which was "technically" destroyed but still exists thanks to some temporal shenanigans) aren't at the museum, so whether or not those ships were destroyed or preserved elsewhere has yet to be revealed.
 • The ultimate fate of Picard's original biological body prior following the ending of Season One's finally resolved, revealing Starfleet took it into custody and housed it at Daystrom.
 • Where It All Began : Invoked when Worf and Raffi are briefing the Titan -A characters on the Changeling threat. With no other leads and time running out, the only way to learn what the Changelings really stole from the Daystrom Institute — and how it factors into their endgame — is to return to the scene of the original crime.
 • Whole-Plot Reference : To Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country . Like Kirk, Spock, and the Enterprise -A, Picard and the Titan have been framed for murder by a conspiracy at the top levels of Starfleet. The Titan is now on the run and trying to clear their names and expose the shadowy cabal while planning a break-in to one of the most secure facilities in the Quadrant. As an added bonus, the A herself shows up at the Museum.
 • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes? : Downplayed, but as soon as Worf hears the all-too familiar sounds of Tribble cooing coming from one of the Daystrom vaults, there's a look of quiet resignation on his face.

star trek online tribble bounty

Tribble (server)

 • VisualEditor
 • View history

Tribble is the name of Star Trek Online 's public testing shard (server). The Tribble server is where players can assist QA (Cryptic's Quality Assurance team) with testing out new content and upcoming changes to STO before they are pushed to the live Holodeck (server) . Some (not all) features and mission content often evolve here. Some changes may never reach Holodeck. The STO Dev team has been known to reserve testing of some features and content. They sometimes like to surprise their player base.

Not to be confused with the Redshirt server.

Some things to know before testing [ | ]

 • Tribble may be wiped by the Q/A team as the need presents itself. They usually offer notice prior to a wipe. Players who test features and content may need to re-copy characters or start new ones.
 • Copying a character to a Public Test Server will not affect your character on the Live Server (Holodeck) in any way.
 • Certain account features (such as buying and spending Zen, promo items, special unlocks, etc) may not be available on a Public Test Server.
 • Requesting a character copy will create another copy if he/she/it already exists on the target Public Test Server. (It will be ____ 1 ____ 2 ____ 3 and so on)
 • Requesting a character copy to a Public Test Server is the only way to get your characters to the server!
 • You will be unable to transfer your character to a Public Test Server from Holodeck if you are logged in on that character on Holodeck at the time the transfer is requested.
 • You can create new characters on a Public Test Server if you’d like to start fresh.
 • Your fleet status will not copy with your character, this is true also if you are the Fleet/House leader.

Gaining access [ | ]

 • Accessing the server
 • Be aware that your hard-drive needs to have enough space to accommodate another copy of STO.
 • Open the launcher and select the "Tribble" shard located along the bottom of the launcher screen.
 • Allow their client to patch up to the test server game version.
 • Log in and play by clicking Engage
 • Create a new character from scratch. Or follow the instructions below to copy a character from Holodeck.
 • Head over to the Tribble Character Transfer page and copy a character over. This will not remove the character from the live servers, it will only make a duplicate of it. Different characters can be copied over to the test shard by repeating this process.
 • This page tells the player that it may take up to two-hours for the copy to appear on the test server. It doesn't always take that long.

Tribble Test Weekends [ | ]

Cryptic runs a couple of tribble test weekends throughout the year, these usually coincide with upcoming major expansions such as the release of a season. The events allow players to preview upcoming content and directly interact with developers through missions, PVP , and social events.

Test weekends are usually announced on the forums, in the RSS feed, and emails from cryptic. They typically require at least one hour of play on the server to earn the reward.

As of May 2013, there have been 8 test weekends, one for the release of each season expansion. This trend was broken however with Season Eight , which did not have a test weekend.
