The Black Keys have announced initial details for their Dropout Boogie tour, a 32-date North American run produced by Live Nation beginning July 9 in Las Vegas. This is the band’s first string of shows since touring in support of their 2019 studio album “Let’s Rock ” (Nonesuch).

Band Of Horses will support on all dates, while Ceramic Animal (July 9-30), Early James (Aug. 24-Sept. 9) and the Velveteers (Oct. 2-18) will open at select performances.

The Black Keys will be holding an exclusive fan club presale on Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 10 am local time. Sign up for the free Lonely Boys & Girls Club and receive early access to tickets. Presale ends Thursday, Feb 3 at 10 pm local time. A limited number of VIP packages will also be available starting Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 10 am local time. Citi is the official card of the Dropout Boogie tour. Citi cardmembers will have access to presale tickets beginning Wednesday, Feb 2 at 10 am local time until Thursday, Feb 3 at 10 pm local time through the Citi Entertainment program. For complete presale details visit www.citientertainment.com .

The Black Keys are singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney. Last year, the duo received its 14th Grammy nomination, this time for Best Contemporary Blues Album for Delta Kream , which was released in May 2021 by Nonesuch Records. The project, which features 11 Mississippi hill country blues songs by artists such as R.L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough, was the band’s fifth consecutive top 10 debut on The Billboard 200. Pitchfork said of the album, “By spending the time playing the blues that’s buried deep in their soul, the Black Keys reveal how far they’ve gone in a space of 20 years,” while the UK’s Independent said, “The blues flow through The Black Keys’ music as steady as the Mississippi River. Now they’re going right to the source on Delta Kream , a sweltering collection of some of their favourite hill country blues standards. The fact they’re exploring such familiar territory is to the album’s benefit. The Black Keys know this music as well as their own. Delta Kream celebrates true musicianship. A soundtrack for those hot and heady nights of late summer. It’s brilliant.” Delta Kream also made Best of 2021 lists from several publications, including both Uncut and Mojo.

Most recently, The Black Keys released the Super Deluxe 10th anniversary edition of their landmark seventh studio album, El Camino in late 2021. El Camino was produced by Danger Mouse and The Black Keys and was recorded in the band’s then-new hometown of Nashville during the spring of 2011. The Black Keys won three awards at the 55 th annual Grammys for El Camino —Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song, and Best Rock Album—among other worldwide accolades.

Formed in Akron, Ohio in 2001, The Black Keys have been called “rock royalty” by the Associated Press and “one of the best rock ‘n’ roll bands on the planet” by Uncut . Cutting their teeth playing small clubs, the band have gone on to sell out arena tours and have released nine previous studio albums: their debut The Big Come Up (2002), followed by Thickfreakness (2003) and Rubber Factory (2004), along with their releases on Nonesuch Records, Magic Potion (2006), Attack & Release (2008), Brothers (2010), El Camino (2011), Turn Blue (2014) and “ Let’s Rock ” (2019), plus a 10th anniversary edition of Brothers (2020).The band has won six Grammy Awards and a BRIT and headlined festivals in North America, South America, Mexico, Australia, and Europe.

The Black Keys have announced a 32-date North American trek, which they've affectionately dubbed the "Dropout Boogie tour."

Set to run from early July through mid-October, the tour – undertaken in support of the band's stellar 2021 blues covers album, Delta Kream – will take the band across the United States, with stops in Toronto and Vancouver, Canada as well.

Band Of Horses – hot on the heels of a new album of their own – will open all 32 dates of the tour, with additional support from Ceramic Animal (on the July 9-30 shows), Early James (from August 24-September 9), and the Velveteers (from October 2-18).

Beginning tomorrow, February 1, at 10 a.m. local time, the Black Keys will be holding an exclusive fan club presale, during which fans can also purchase a limited number of VIP packages, which include perks like premium seats, a sound check visit and an autographed lithograph.

Tickets go on general sale this Friday, February 4, at 10 a.m. local time. You can check out the full tour itinerary below.

Ranked by Guitar World readers as one of the best guitar albums of 2021 , Delta Kream brought the blues revivalists turned arena rockers back to their musical roots.

Recorded with the help of legendary Mississippi Hill Country blues guitar player Kenny Brown , the album was the product of some spontaneous jam sessions involving Brown, bass guitar player Eric Deaton and Black Keys frontman/ electric guitar player Dan Auerbach.

“It was just so much fun that I had to call Pat [Carney, drummer], and I said, ‘Man, you gotta come over here and I’ll see if these guys can stay an extra day and you can just play some songs.’ And that’s what he did,” Auerbach told Guitar World in 2021. “He showed up the next morning; we just started playing for fun and we cut this record in a day.”

Black Keys Announce 2022 North American Tour Dates

The Black Keys will hit the road later this year with a 32-date North American tour that kicks off July 9 in Las Vegas and concludes on Oct. 18 in Dallas.

The band will be supported by Band of Horses for all shows, plus Ceramic Animal, Early James and the Velveteers for select performances. An exclusive fan-club presale will launch on Feb. 1 and includes VIP package options. General tickets will go on sale on Feb. 4. Tickets can be purchased at the Black Keys' website . You can view a complete list of show dates, billed as the Dropout Boogie Tour, below.

The Black Keys, which consists of guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney, received their 14th Grammy nomination last year for Delta Kream , an album of blues covers originally performed by artists such as John Lee Hooker, R.L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough. In late 2021, they released a deluxe edition of their seventh album  El Camino  in recognition of the LP's 10th anniversary.

"I feel like we’ve been on a pretty good wavelength recently," Auerbach told  Rolling Stone  last year. "We didn’t talk about making [ Delta Kream ]. Absolutely zero conversation. And then Pat walked in the room, and we just banged it out. We’ve always had this connection. It’s part of who we are."

The Black Keys Release New Album 'Dropout Boogie'

The duo of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney will participate in an album release party with iHeart Radio stations across the country at 7pm PT tonight.

The Black Keys have released their eleventh studio album, Dropout Boogie, on Nonesuch Records. It is available to stream/purchase here. The duo of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney will participate in an album release party with iHeart Radio stations across the country at 7pm PT tonight.

Led by the singles "Wild Child" and "It Ain't Over," Dropout Boogie features collaborations with Reigning Sound's Greg Cartwright, Billy F Gibbons (ZZ Top), and Angelo Petraglia (Kings of Leon) and arrives one day before the twentieth anniversary of The Black Keys' first LP, The Big Come Up. The new album captures a number of first takes that hark back to the stripped-down blues rock of their early days making music together in Akron, Ohio basements.

Last night, The Black Keys stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! for a performance of latest single "It Ain't Over" and "Wild Child," which topped Billboard's AAA chart in April and is current #1 at Alternative and headed back to #1 at AAA this week, and elsewhere around the world the single is proving to be one of the band's most successful radio hits to date.

The Black Keys will tour North America for the first time in three years starting in July. Band of Horses will support on all dates, while Ceramic Animal (July 9-30), Early James (Aug. 24-Sept. 9), and the Velveteers (Oct. 2-18) will open at select performances. International tour dates will be announced in the coming weeks.

Formed in Akron, Ohio in 2001, The Black Keys are singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney. Last year, the duo received its fourteenth Grammy nomination, this time for Best Contemporary Blues Album for Delta Kream, which was released in May 2021 by Nonesuch. The project, which features eleven Mississippi hill country blues songs by artists such as R.L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough, was the band's fifth consecutive top 10 debut on The Billboard 200. Internationally, Delta Kream was the band's fourth consecutive top 10 album in the U.K., where it debuted at No. 5. It reached the top 10 in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Croatia, and Switzerland, among others, and scored career peaks in several countries.

Most recently, The Black Keys released the Super Deluxe 10th anniversary edition of their landmark seventh studio album, El Camino in late 2021. El Camino was produced by Danger Mouse and The Black Keys and was recorded in the band's then-new hometown of Nashville during the spring of 2011. The Black Keys won three Grammy Awards for El Camino-Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song, and Best Rock Album-among other worldwide accolades.

The Black Keys have been called "rock royalty" by the Associated Press. Cutting their teeth playing small clubs, the band has gone on to sell out arena tours and has released 10 previous studio albums: its debut The Big Come Up (2002), followed by Thickfreakness (2003) and Rubber Factory (2004), along with their releases on Nonesuch Records, Magic Potion (2006), Attack & Release (2008), Brothers (2010), El Camino (2011), Turn Blue (2014), "Let's Rock" (2019) and Delta Kream (2021). The band has won six Grammy Awards and a BRIT and headlined festivals in North America, South America, Mexico, Australia, and Europe.

The Black Keys Announce ‘Dropout Boogie,’ Share Single “Wild Child”

The Black Keys Announce ‘Dropout Boogie,’ Share Single “Wild Child”

American rock band, The Black Keys have announced their eleventh studio album, Dropout Boogie, which will release on May 13 via Nonesuch Records. They shared the lead single off the LP “Wild Child” with an accompanying music video along with the album announcement. Longtime band collaborator Bryan Schlam directed the video.

“We’ve never really had to work at it. Whenever we’d get together, we’d just make music, you know? We didn’t know what we were going to do, but we’d just do it and it would sound cool. It’s the natural chemistry Pat and I have,” said Dan Auerbach. “Being in a band this long is a testament to that. It was a real gift that we were given. I mean, the odds of being plopped down a block-and-a-half from each other in Akron, Ohio–it just seems crazy.”

Dropout Boogie  comes one day before the twentieth anniversary of The Black Keys’ debut album,  The Big Come Up and features collaborations with Billy F. Gibbons (ZZ Top), Greg Cartwright (Reigning Sound) and Angelo Petraglia (Kings of Leon). Both Petraglia and Cartwright can be heard on “Wild Child.”

“Living in Nashville and making records here has opened both of our minds to that experience a little bit more,” said Auerbach. “I knew Pat would love working with both of these guys, so we decided we’d give it a shot. It was the first time we’d ever really done that. It was fun as hell. We just sat around a table with acoustic guitars and worked out a song ahead of time.” “The cool thing with Greg is that he wants to approach stuff with a story in mind — there’s a plot, almost,” added the second half of the Black Keys, Patrick Carney.

The album announcement comes hot on the heels of the news that The Black Keys will set off on their first North American tour in three years, starting in July. They’ll be joined by Band of Horses on all dates, Ceramic Animal from July 9-30, Early James from Aug. 24-Sept. 9, and the Velveteers from Oct. 2-18. See the complete list of tour dates below.

“After 8 long years, we are excited to say The Black Keys are coming back to Europe and the UK. We can’t wait to see you at the shows in these iconic venues” the duo said in a statement.

These dates mark The Black Keys’ first European tour since 2015 and offer fans a rare opportunity to see the band at their finest.  Following an acclaimed, 32-date North American run earlier this year, the duo will deliver a loud and raw set featuring hits like Howlin’ For You, Lonely Boy and Gold On The Ceiling, as well as performing songs from their latest album, Dropout Boogie , which was released in May and harks back to the stripped-down blues rock of their early days making music together in Akron, Ohio basements over 20 years ago.

The Black Keys play the following shows in their UK ‘Dropout Boogie’ Tour of 2023:

The O2, London – Wednesday 21 June AO Arena, Manchester – Thursday 22 June OVO Hydro – Glasgow Saturday 24 June.

The Rock Revival

The Black Keys’ Dropout Boogie Tour is a Damn Good Rock Show

The group debuted new tunes and broke out some classics

Last night, The Black Keys brought their Dropout Boogie Tour to the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden, NJ. In tow were special guests Band of Horses and local upstarts Ceramic Animal. The result was a summer night of back-to-the-roots rock ‘n’ roll.

Ceramic Animal started things up. The quintet hail from just up 95 in nearby Doylestown, PA. The group caught the eye of The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach. He invited the group down to Nashville to write and record their fourth album Sweet Unknown at his Easy Eye Sound studio.

“I liked what they had going on, and I liked how obviously hard-working they are,” says Dan. “When I spoke with them, I liked them even more. They’re very down to earth, but they’re also incredibly ambitious. They’re so genuinely confident with themselves, and that allows them the freedom to explore music and ideas together. They have a lot of the qualities I see in very successful groups, but they’re just at the beginning, really.”

The band’s set was brief, and they used their time wisely to heavily promote their new record. They churned out four tracks from their latest LP, opening with “Valerie.” From there they ran through “Up In Smoke,” “Forever Song,” and “I Can’t Wait.” They wrapped things up with “All My Loving” from their last effort, 2020’s High End

Unsurprisingly, the reaction to the group was favorable. They draw on a variety of different sub-genres including classic rock, blues, and folk to brew a simmering stew chalk-full of tasty riffs and smooth melodies. This was Ceramic Animal’s last stop on this tour, but keep your eye out for the next time they come around.

Band of Horses started their set with “Is There a Ghost.” The GRAMMY®-nominated group proceeded to perform material from four of their six studio albums. They focused on tracks from their 2007 outing Cease to Begin . The lone cut from their latest effort – 2022’s Things Are Great (BMG) – was the lead single “Crutch.”

Other highlights included “No One’s Gonna Love You,” “The Funeral,” “Laredo,” “The Great Salt Lake,” and more. There’s a subtle energy to the band. While their music tends to be on the more mellow side, they certainly know how to get a bit rowdy in a live setting, especially bassist Matt Gentling who at times jumps around and headbangs like he could be in a metal band.

The Black Keys strutted onto the stage and launched into their hit 2008 single “I Got Mine.” The swagger of the song’s main riff saturated the venue. It was an excellent way to kick off their set. The entire crowd swayed back and forth and sang along. Oh, The Black Keys are back, baby.

From there, they launched right into the instantly recognizable smash “Howlin’ For You” which kept the crowd on its feet.

Just a few songs in, the group unleashed their platinum-selling smash “Gold on the Ceiling.” More noteworthy performances included “Tighten Up,” “Fever,” “Your Touch,” “Lo/Hi,” and many more. Hearing “Next Girl” is always amazing, given the track’s exceptional groove.

The band did a great job of spreading out their set, pulling material from eight of their eleven studio outings. They debuted three tracks from their latest release, including the album’s two singles “Wild Child” and “It Ain’t Over.” They also introduced the audience to “Your Team Is Looking Good.” The reaction to the new stuff was favorable to say the least.

While The Black Keys are not short on their own material by any means, the duo through a handful of covers into he set, including “Crawlin’ Kingsnake” by John Lee Hooker and a pair of R.L. Burnside tunes.

The band wrapped things up with “She’s Long Gone” from their 2010 GRAMMY® Award-winning album Brothers . They returned to the stage for a two-track encore of El Camino hits – “Little Black Submarines” followed by their fist-pumping anthem “Lonely Boy.” One thing can be said for certain – The Black Keys always bring it.

The Black Keys’ latest LP Dropout Boogie arrived on May 13 via Nonesuch. It is their eleventh studio effort. The record peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums Chart.

As they’ve done their entire career, The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney wrote all of the material for their new album,  Dropout Boogie , in the studio, and the album captures a number of first takes that hark back to the stripped-down blues rock of their early days making music together in Akron, Ohio basements. After hashing out initial ideas at Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound studio in Nashville, the duo welcomed new collaborators Billy F. Gibbons (ZZ Top), Greg Cartwright (Reigning Sound), and Angelo Petraglia (Kings of Leon) to the sessions, marking the first time they’ve invited multiple new contributors to work simultaneously on one of their own albums.

“That’s always been the beauty of the thing Pat and I do. It’s instant,” says Dan Auerbach. “We’ve never really had to work at it. Whenever we’d get together, we’d just make music, you know? We didn’t know what we were going to do, but we’d just do it and it would sound cool. It’s the natural chemistry Pat and I have. Being in a band this long is a testament to that. It was a real gift that we were given. I mean, the odds of being plopped down a block-and-a-half from each other in Akron, Ohio – it just seems crazy.”
