The band were due to launch their original tour at the Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Oregon on March 12, 2020 just before the COVID pandemic brought live music to a halt. Now, the group have kicked off the tour that’s been delayed by nearly two years.

Last night’s set included a handful of songs that haven’t been performed live for several years. ‘Pushit’ and ‘Hooker With A Penis’ hadn’t been played live since 2014, Ultimate Classic Rock noted, and ‘Right In Two’ since 2011.

You can see the setlist from the world tour’s debut show below [via Setlist.fm ] as well as fan-shot footage from the show further down the page.

Last week it was reported that Tool – as well as acts including Eric Church, Metallica  and  The Black Keys  – would be  employing specially trained sniffer dogs to detect COVID-19 at their shows . The dogs are able to sniff for traces of the virus on anyone involved backstage, including members of the band’s crew and entourage.

Tool singer Maynard James Keenan himself contracted the virus twice in 2020, noting in an interview last February that he wound up in the ER during his second bout .

He said in October 2020 that he was  suffering from lung damage  due to the after-effects of COVID-19, but in April 2021 assured fans that  “everything’s grand” in regards to his health .

Tool Cancel 2020 Tour in Order to ‘Help Support the People Who Have Supported Us for Years’

Click here to read the full article on SPIN.

Tool has canceled the remaining dates on their 2020 tour that were initially postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic .

In a statement on Thursday, the band explained their decision, which focused on the uncertainty going on in the world right now and what they see as being unfair to tie up their fans’ funds for another year.

Tool Postpone All 2020 North American Tour Dates

“As so many music lovers have come to realize over the last several weeks, there is no playbook that artists, promoters and venues can pull from in these unprecedented times,” the band’s statement began.

They went on to express there is no certainty when things will get scheduled, 2021 or beyond depending on local ordinances.

“At the same time that we were working to reschedule this tour, we read your messages. Messages of job losses, illness, emotional and financial pain. We could continue to postpone or reschedule dates for some time into 2021 but ethically, we do not think this is the right course of action. In our opinion, tying up our fans’ money for months, if not a full year, is unfair. With that in mind, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel the tour so we can help support the people who have supported us for years,” they said.

Despite concerts going on in Arkansas and some drive-in shows elsewhere, the concert business has been grounded to a halt, with experts and promoters not anticipating a return to full-scale business until 2021 .

Read Tool’s full statement below.

As so many music lovers have come to realize over the last several weeks, there is no playbook that artists, promoters and venues can pull from in these unprecedented times. When we played what would be our final show of 2020, March 11 at Portland’s Moda Center, we believed we would be back on the road sometime this Fall. As we worked towards that goal we’ve come to realize that there is absolutely no certainty in re-scheduling dates for this Fall or 2021. State and local ordinances vary widely and no one can predict when high capacity events will safely return. At the same time that we were working to reschedule this tour, we read your messages. Messages of job losses, illness, emotional and financial pain. We could continue to postpone or reschedule dates for some time into 2021 but ethically, we do not think this is the right course of action. In our opinion, tying up our fans’ money for months, if not a full year, is unfair. With that in mind, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel the tour so we can help support the people who have supported us for years. Please know, we want nothing more than to return to the road, to play these songs for you and to celebrate our shared recovery. When the time is right, we will do just that. In the coming days you will receive an email from the ticketing service you purchased tickets through notifying you of the event cancellation and when to expect your refund.

Singer Maynard James Keenan added, "Let's finish what we started. Shall we?"

The band are set to spend three months touring the U.S. before heading to Europe for another month (see the full itinerary below), with Blonde Redhead opening shows from January 10th to February 10th, and the Acid Helps doing the honors from February 19th to March 20th. Tool

Tool is getting back on the road. The band announced on Monday (Sept. 27) a massive tour spanning four months to kick off in January 2022.

“It is with great pleasure I get to announce our return to the road,” drummer Danny Carey said in a statement. “These past 18 months have been trying, to say the least, but from great trials come great lessons and great rewards. We are looking forward to sharing them with you.”

Added frontman Maynard James Keenan, “Let’s finish what we started, shall we?”

Tool's Maynard James Keenan Shares His 'Ugly' Second Experience With COVID-19

The U.S. leg of the tour will begin Jan. 10 at the Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Ore., where the band — like many others around the world — had to halt its 2020 tour in support of 2019’s long-awaited release Fear Inoculum due to the global coronavirus pandemic. After first delaying the tour in February 2020, Tool elected to scrap it completely a few months later in June.

After three months touring the States, Tool will take a few weeks off before picking up with the European leg, which is slated to begin April 23 in Copenhagen, and ending May 24 in Budapest.

Blonde Redhead will support the Jan. 10-Feb. 10 dates, while The Acid Helps will open the Feb. 19-March 20 shows.

Tool Army members can access presale tickets beginning Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. local time for European dates, and Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. local for U.S. shows. There will also be exclusive packages available during the pre-sale windows. Tickets for all dates go on sale to the general public Friday (Oct. 1) at 10 a.m. local time.

Watch Tool’s final band practice before embarking on their US arena tour

Check out intimate footage of Tool's final tour rehearsal

Tool

Tool will finally launch their US arena tour in support of Fear Inoculum tonight at the Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Oregon. And as anticipation builds for shows which were originally scheduled for March 2020, and subsequently cancelled and re-booked during the pandemic, intimate footage of the band’s final pre-tour rehearsals has surfaced online, having been live streamed on guitarist Adam Jones’ Instagram account.

Though frontman Maynard James Keenan is not present in the footage, Jones, bassist Justin Chancellor and drummer Danny Carey are featured, playing The Patient and The Pot .

Since the original 2020 tour dates were cancelled, Maynard James Keenan has contracted Covid-19 twice, in February 2020 and again in mid-November 2020, ending up in ER on December 1, 2020. “Ugly, ugly. Couldn’t breathe,” Keenan said, recalling his second experience of the virus in an interview for Apple Music. “I could barely put two words together without going into a coughing fit, you know? It ended up kind of also progressing into pneumonia.”

Keenan also issued a warning to anyone who believes that the threat posed by the virus has been inflated.

“I knew what I went through and I know what I’m still going through, so I would recommend that you take this [pandemic] seriously,” he said, “but I feel like that’s just going to fall on deaf ears.”

TOOL Announces Extensive 2022 Tour

TOOL  will hit the road for an extensive tour of U.S., Europe, and the U.K. in 2022, the band announced on Monday.

The lauded hard rock outfit is set to go on tour once again beginning on January 10th at Eugene, OR’s Matthew Knight Arena . The tour will take TOOL to arenas around the U.S. throughout January, February, and March before heading to Europe and the U.K. for shows throughout late April and May. The tour will feature support from Blonde Redhead and  The Acid Helps  at select dates.

“It is with great pleasure I get to announce our return to the road,” said Danny Carey . “These past 18 months have been trying to say the least but from great trials come great lessons and great rewards. We are genuinely looking forward to sharing them with you.”

The new batch of 2022 TOOL tour dates effectively replace the band’s planned 2020 tour, which was axed as the coronavirus picture worsened. When the 2020 TOOL tour was canceled , the band noted that it would not attempt to reschedule in 2021 due to the continued uncertainty with regard to COVID-19.

The band dealt with the effects of COVID-19 on a personal level, as well. Keenan reportedly contracted the virus two separate times in 2020—first in February while on tour in support of the band’s highly anticipated new LP, Fear Inoculum , and then again later in the year. Keenan later opened up about his second COVID-19 diagnosis on a February 2021 episode  of  Apple Music ‘s ‎ The Strombo Show , during which he detailed his harrowing experience battling COVID-19 and pneumonia at once.

As Keenan noted simply in a post announcing the 2022 tour, “Let’s finish what we started. Shall we?”

Tickets for all dates go on sale this Friday, October 1st at 10:00 a.m. local time. U.K. and Irish dates will go on sale at 9 a.m. local time.

TOOL Army members can purchase pre-sale tickets for European dates on September 28th at 10 a.m. local time (24-hour pre-sale window), while U.S. pre-sale tickets are available on September 29th at 10 a.m. local time (36-hour pre-sale window). A selection of exclusive packages, which include a pre-sale ticket, will also be made available to TOOL Army members on September 29th at 10 a.m. local time.

The Concerts Were Canceled Months Ago. So Where Are the Refunds?

As fans await money for called-off shows at the Nassau Coliseum, officials say they are the responsibility of the company run by a Russian oligarch who had operated the venue.

tool tour cancelled

By Ben Sisario

Early this year, Joanne Brakatselos, a rock fan in Queens, spent just over $1,000 for tickets to six concerts. In the months since those events were canceled because of the coronavirus, she got her money back for every show.

Except one.

Ms. Brakatselos is one of the thousands of fans still awaiting refunds for Tool and Judas Priest shows at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island, a case that has begun to draw attention and finger-pointing behind the scenes of the music industry.

For consumers like Ms. Brakatselos, who paid $356.70 for two tickets to see Tool, getting those refunds has been an exercise in frustration. Since June, when the band’s show was canceled, she has been back and forth numerous times between Ticketmaster and the Coliseum, to no avail.

The venue box office repeatedly asked for her patience and said it was working on the problem, while Ticketmaster said it was awaiting funds from the “event organizer,” according to emails and other communications Ms. Brakatselos shared with The New York Times.

“Both sides are pointing to each other, and I’m monkey in the middle,” Ms. Brakatselos said in an interview.

But Nassau County, which owns the Coliseum, says responsibility for the refunds rests with the former leaseholder of the venue — a company run by the billionaire Russian investor Mikhail Prokhorov.

“Under the county’s lease agreement, resolving refunds falls squarely with the tenant,” a spokeswoman for the Nassau County Executive, Laura Curran, said in statement. The county directed further questions to Mr. Prokhorov’s company, Onexim Sports and Entertainment, which held the lease on the arena until August, when a deal brokered by Nassau County transferred it to an investor that had financed recent renovations to the 48-year-old building.

(As part of that deal, the investor, U.S. Immigration Fund — which is not affiliated with the federal government — paid more than $2 million that Onexim owed the county in back rent.)

The reason for the delay of the refunds remains unclear, as is the question of how the problem will be resolved now that Mr. Prokhorov’s company is no longer in control of the venue.

Nassau Events Center, the Onexim subsidiary that operated the venue, said it is “working closely with Ticketmaster regarding refunds for tickets purchased through that channel, and is aiming for those refunds to be processed as soon as possible.”

The company noted that fans who bought tickets directly from the Coliseum box office — usually a tiny portion of overall sales — can get their money back from the venue. But it did not respond when asked about the cause of the delay in refunds through Ticketmaster, or whether it could offer any more specific timing.

Mr. Prokhorov, who made his fortune in metals through the privatization of former Soviet assets in the 1990s, is well known to sports fans as the former owner of Barclays Center and the Brooklyn Nets. He is worth $11.3 billion, according to Forbes , and most recently has invested in virtual reality .

Ticketmaster’s exposure to refund claims is also uncertain. The company tells its customers that it pays refunds for all canceled shows in about 30 days. But the coronavirus shutdown has dealt a severe economic blow to Ticketmaster and its corporate parent, Live Nation Entertainment; the company reported that its revenue for the second quarter this year dropped 98 percent from the same period in 2019.

In a statement, Ticketmaster said only that it is “currently waiting” for Nassau Events Center to transfer the ticketing funds “so we can pass refunds along to fans.”

In addition to the canceled shows by Tool and Judas Priest, several other events that were on the arena’s calendar this year, including by Elton John and Michael Bublé, have been rescheduled for 2021 and 2022. Under Ticketmaster’s typical business arrangements, the ticketing money from those shows also would have been forwarded to Mr. Prokhorov’s company.

The New York Islanders, the National Hockey League team long associated with the Coliseum, canceled six home games because of the pandemic, and, according to information from the team, refunds for those tickets were paid to fans.

In the spring, as all tours came off the road, the prospect of billions of dollars in potential ticket refunds became a hot-button issue for the concert industry, and a rallying point for frustrated fans . But by May, much of that problem had seemingly been resolved, when Live Nation and AEG, the two corporations that dominate touring, announced refund policies .

In August, Live Nation said it had processed $695 million in refunds through June, and was expecting to pay $270 million more in coming months. About two-thirds of that total, the company said, is for events put on by Live Nation itself. (Ticketmaster also sells tickets on behalf of thousands of other clients.)

But the global touring market, which is estimated at more than $20 billion, includes far more players than just Live Nation and AEG, and fan complaints about missing refunds or unresponsive venues dot social media.

The Nassau Coliseum, however, is an especially high-profile case. Opened in 1972, it has long been part of the mainstream concert circuit, including a close association with Billy Joel.

John Scher, the veteran New York-area concert promoter who was putting on the Tool show, said he has been flabbergasted by the arena’s refund failure. In an interview, Mr. Scher said that his contacts at Ticketmaster and the venue told him that Ticketmaster had forwarded the money from the concert’s ticket sales — a little over $1 million, he said — to the Coliseum’s operators.

Mr. Scher said he had been unable to get answers about who was holding those funds and when refunds would be paid. But he minced no words in blaming Mr. Prokhorov and his company for the problem.

“The fact that they’re not refunding the money is blatantly unfair to the ticket holder,” Mr. Scher said in an interview. “There isn’t any gray area. He ran the building and took in the money.”

A spokeswoman for Mr. Prokhorov declined to comment beyond the statement issued by Nassau Events Center.

In a statement, Tool said it had not received any money from the show, and that “we simply do not have enough information to comment on the situation.”

But the band Judas Priest, which canceled a September show at the Coliseum, was more pointed.

“We hate the thought that fans are not getting their refunds but unfortunately we have no control over it,” said Jayne Andrews, a manager for the band. “The issue doesn’t lie with us, Live Nation or even Ticketmaster — the building must return the money to Ticketmaster first in order for Ticketmaster to do the refunds.”

Ms. Andrews said Judas Priest has had no refund problems at any of the other venues where it has canceled shows.

When Tool announced in June that it was not going forward with its tour, the band made a point of saying that it was canceling its dates, rather than postponing them, so that fans could get their money back. “In our opinion, tying up our fans’ money for months, if not a full year, is unfair,” the band said .

That resonated with fans like Ms. Brakatselos, who said she has spent considerable time over the last four months hunting down the money she was owed — a quest that, for her, has involved setting up a spreadsheet to track her many communications with Ticketmaster and the Nassau Coliseum.

“This is almost $400,” she said. “This is not something I can just let go.”

Reviews of TOOL’s recent live outings praised the four-piece, with Loudwire dubbing the performances as “a masterclass of immersion, sound and stage design, musicianship… and levels of ungodly tightness.” The Austin Chronicle described the incomparable live experience as an “unbridled exchange of catharsis between performers and fans” and Revolver said “TOOL delivered a stunning… set featuring classic fan favorites, newer Fear Inoculum standouts and choice deeper cuts … the striking visuals also included a psychedelic laser and projections show bar none.

Tool Announce Fall 2023 North American Tour Dates

By Matthew Strauss

Tool

Tool have announced a fall tour of North America. Following a performance Louisville’s Louder Than Life in September, the band will play arena shows in October and November. The trek also includes a performance at Indio’s Power Trip . Find Tool’s tour dates below.

Earlier this year, Tool headlined Florida’s Welcome to Rockville and Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival in Columbus, Ohio. The band also toured North America last year, but did not perform in Canada. On their upcoming tour, Tool will play Canadian shows for the first time since 2019 .

At Welcome to Rockville, Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan also performed with another one of his bands, Puscifer. He made headlines by performing in a blonde wig, red lipstick, and prosthetic breasts, which many saw as a defiant act against Florida’s restrictive laws against drag shows. Keenan, however, said his choice of attire “had nothing to do with Florida.” The singer told The Messenger , “I’ve been cross-dressing since long before these clickbait-junkie dupes were out of diapers.” He added, “It’s pretty crazy the technology and the prosthetics nowadays, how they’ve come along, and I just was considering bringing the look back.”

I have been waiting for over 20 yrs for Tool to come back to Dallas and Jam out. Well that's exactly what TOOL did on 22January2020 in Dallas, TX at American Airlines Arena. From start to end nothing but excellence from all 4 Gentleman. lanyards voice was Top form and the musician's jammed do hard I know they have to have blisters on their fingers. They are a very fine tuned head banging, fist in the air rocking Rock and Roll band of the Decade. If you happen to get a chance to see TOOL within the next 4 shows, only in the states, get there. Because you dont want to miss this show. SHOW OF THE YEAR!!!!! Guaranteed!!!

Absolutely incredible show! The sound was perfect, the visuals were spectacular and the band sounded super-tight (no surprise there). That is no easy feat considering the complexity of their music (especially their new material). They're one of the very few bands that actually sound the same or better live than the studio album. Maynard is finally more visible on this tour as they've added two platforms on each side of the drum riser where he crouched, danced, slithered and delivered his exceptional vocals. He even engaged the crowd a little bit, which was shocking. You could tell he and all his band mates are in a good head space and were really enjoying themselves. Truly memorable show from one of the greatest rock bands ever!

ggavros2002’s profile image

The band was unreal as always.

I attended a Montreal show a couple of years back and this was just as good along with the addition of some new album tracks.

Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the crowd here. The fans were far more connected to the music in Montreal. They understood the ebb and flow.

But, for some reason, we've got fools in Toronto who show up, get trashed and are somehow louder than the band. People here don't seem to get the idea that they're there with 12 - 13 thousand other people so it's really not about them. But, hey, that's the maturity level of kids old enough to drink legally, but not self-aware...

If ever they're back again, I'll see them, but never at Scotia again.

Jennifer Lopez loses thousands of social media followers after tour cancellations and doc

Jennifer Lopez is losing Instagram followers by the thousands.

According to recent stats, the Jenny from the Block singer, 54, dropped about 39k followers in just one month.

This information comes from entertainment site CSGOLuck, which uses Social Blade to keep track of celebrity follower counts. The company said that New York-born multihyphenate lost an average of 1,303 followers each day in the last 30 days.

The decline in her social media following appears to line up with the recent cancellations of seven dates on her new tour, This Is Me...Now.

Though there was speculation that the concerts were axed due to low ticket sales, People reported that the issues were more logistical in nature.

The cancelled shows were supposed to be in Nashville, Cleveland, Atlanta, Tampa, Raleigh, and New Orleans. In the cities were tickets sales were higher, like in New York, Miami, and Toronto, more shows were added.

In a statement about the follower drop, CSGOLuck said: "Jennifer Lopez is undeniably one of our generation's most iconic and influential pop stars... Planning and executing a successful tour involves a multitude of factors. This tour marks J.Lo's first since 2019, making the cancellation of certain dates undoubtedly disappointing for fans in those cities."

The This is Me...Now tour is the fifth concert tour for the performer. It also marks Lopez's first time touring North America in five years.

Lopez will hit the road for 30 shows, starting in Orlando on June 26 before ending on August 17 in her hometown of New York City.

Jennifer's upcoming tour supports her latest album - also named This Is Me... Now, which debuted at No. 38 on the Billboard 200.

This is her ninth studio album and two companion films have been released. First, was the musical film called This Is Me...Now: A Love Story. It was followed by The Greatest Love Story Never Told, a documentary about the making of the musical film.

Both premiered on Prime Video back in February.

This Is Me...Now: A Love Story is a sequel to J. Lo's 2002 album This is Me...Then. Like the album, the film delves into her relationship with Ben Affleck. However, this time around the story is about their rekindled romance. The film cost $20 million to make and the title refers to a series of letters Ben wrote her years ago.

Heartbreak is an understatement for what we’re about to share. Taylor Swift has officially cancelled all Canadian Eras tour dates due to “stadium complications and intricate stage requirements.”

In a drastic and unexpected decision, the 14 grammy-award winner has announced she will no longer be bringing her tour north of the border. Swift’s management team will be issuing an official statement shortly, however the news has already devastated fans across the country.

Despite their best efforts to accommodate the tour in Canada, there are logistical challenges with the stadium infrastructure and Swift’s elaborate staging elements that are necessary to her live shows that simply can’t be worked around come November.

Just last year, three more shows were added to Toronto due to high demand, totalling 6 shows in the city – November 14th, 15th, 16th, 21st, 22nd, and 23rd.

Swift was slated to perform nine shows in Canada with the final three in Vancouver, from December 6th to 8th, ending her Eras tour.

Though not all hope is lost,  the team is “actively exploring” other options to make sure she comes to Canada in the future.

Canada wasn’t part of the initial Eras tour plans when it was first announced. However, efforts to bring the popstar to Canada were consistently made by fans, supporters, and even Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, back in the summer.

Information on refunds and next steps will be issued in the following days. But for now, it looks like we’ll have to catch Taylor Swift Eras tour on Disney+ .

Thankfully this isn’t true – Happy April Fools’ Day!
