Bhadrachalam, located 120 km from Khammam, is one of the holiest temples in India, situated on the banks of the picturesque river Godavari. Legend has it that Lord Rama came down from heaven to bless his devout sage Bhadra.
Lord Rama assured him that he would reside at this place to bless all his devotees. As such this place is known as Bhadrachalam after Rishi Bhadra. The annual ‘marriage’ ritual of Lord Rama is celebrated with Sita and his wife Sita with great pomp amid Vedic chanting on Shri Ram Navami Day.
Devotees believe that taking a dip in the river during these ceremonies will help them attain salvation. The jewels given by the devotee Ramdas to Goddess Sita are on display in the temple.
950 A.D. by the Kakatiyas Built in, Khammam Fort has a long and checkered history. It was taken over by the Qutb Shahi rulers in the year 1512 and later passed into the hands of Asaf Jahi rulers in the 17th century. Built of granite, the fort is situated on a hill in the middle of the city of Khammam.
Located at a distance of 35 km from Bhadrachalam and 24 km from Kothagudem, Kinnarasani Sanctuary is a part of the Dandakaranya forests in Khammam.
Situated on the banks of the Godavari River, it derives its name from the Kinnarasani River. The sanctuary supports a wide variety of flora and fauna such as tiger, gaur, python etc. Spread over an area of 634 sq km, the sanctuary has Kinnaranasani reservoir and has attractions such as Deer Park, Glass Guest House, Ecological Park and Environmental Education Center.
Situated 36 km from Bhadrachalam, Parnasa is a picturesque place. Legend has it that Lord Rama spent his 14 years of exile in Parnasala and is believed to have killed Maricha, who came as a golden antelope to woo the goddess Sita. A splendid stream, which passes through dense forests, offers a beautiful view and is a delightful picnic spot.
Kusumchi is only 20 km from Khammam where the largest Shivalinga is established in the temple built during the Kakatiya period. The towering statue has a height of three meters and a radius of two meters.
Situated at a distance of 21 km from Khammam, Nelakondapalli is a historical site with an earthen fortification wall covering about 100 acres. Excavations include viharas made of bricks, wells, pits, a Mahastupa, terracotta sculptures, bronze statues: Buddha, a miniature stupa, carved in limestone and dating back to the third and fourth centuries BC.

5 km from the temple town of Bhadrachalam, below the Godavari river is Gundala, which is famous for the hot springs at the bottom of the river.
These hot springs are spread over an area of about 100 square yards. These springs are believed to have been formed as a result of the celestial fire given by Naga King Adi Sheshu.
Situated 40 km from Khammam, Garla is the location of the famous Lord Venkateswara Temple, which was built by the Kakatiya people in the 15th century. The walls are adorned with beautiful sculptures that represent the exquisite craftsmanship of that period.
The 700-year-old landmark, Lord Venkateswara Swamy Temple is located in Annapurnedipalli, 75 km from Khammam.
Built during the reign of Kakatiya, it is a symbol of South Indian culture and heritage and boasts exquisite sculptures engraved on walls and columns.
On Sunday, A.P.T.D.C launches 160 km between August and February every year, 160 kilometers from Bhadrachalam to Parentapalli to Paparappalli. Tourists are served tea, breakfast and refreshments on board.

At a distance of 1.5 km from Khammam Railway Station, 120 km from Warangal and 196 km from Hyderabad, Khammam Fort is situated in Khammam town of Telangana. Built during 950 AD by the Kakatiya rulers, the fort is an important tourist attraction in Khammam. Later, Musunuri Nayaks and Velama kings were involved in the expansion of the fort. Subsequently the Qutb Shahi kings developed the fort further. The fort is situated on Stambhadri hill. It represents a combination of both Hindu and Muslim architectural influences. There are several mandapas and temples inside the fort. The fort and the temples located on top make the place a wonderful site to visit in Khammam. The steps constructed to reach the top have made access to the fort easier. This fort was built with granite and has an area of around 4 square km. It also has a Masjid and Mahal including Ashoor Khanas constructed during Nizam period. The fort also houses several cannons that were used in the wars during Kakatiya & Qutb Shahi period. Every year celebrations are performed in the name of Stambhadri Sambaralu. The fort is also recently celebrated 1000 years of its construction. The Fort is maintained by the archaeology department of India. It has been developed as a tourist destination and is now open to all visitors.
