The Travellers' Rest

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

They have done the covid precautions good and the food is ok. Unfortunately we were let down by the fact we had 2 kids meals which are not cheap at £7.50 each only to find out when we got home that the kids should of... had a drink and a dessert with there meal but no one told us this or offered anything which was bad of the staff. New Menu is limited in choice and prices have gone up. Not great value anymore. Will not be rushing back. Great location though and good outside space. More

Came here for dinner a few nights ago as we have just moved to the village. We wanted to try out all the pubs and made the most out of the eat out to help out scheme. We were greeted at the entrance and were... asked to sanitise our hands and were shown to our table. We asked if we could sit outside as the view on the decking is incredible! This was fine with the staff however it looked as if it was going to start raining just after we had received our drinks. We moved inside and felt very comfortable eating our food inside the restaurant due to the strict one way system in place and the reminder to sanitise our hands after coming in from outside. The food was classic home cooked pub food but was excellent! The steak was cooked perfectly and was delicious! We will be making more trips to The Travellers Rest in the future due to the lovely staff who work there and great food and views!! Would like to say a special thank you for making us feel relaxed and being so attentive :) More

We visited the Travellers Rest for a meal last night and the food was fantastic. Between us, we had a wide range of food from the menu and each dish was delicious, cooked to perfection, with generous portion sizes. The staff were so lovely and... friendly and made us feel really welcome, even in these strange times of eating out with masks etc. I rarely leave reviews, but we had such a lovely time, with fantastic food and service that I couldn’t not. If you are thinking of eating out, you will not be disappointed if you visit The Travellers Rest. More

Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and I felt very safe visiting a pub for the first time with an elderly relatively. However I would think twice about going back as the food was awful. Firstly, my glass of wine looked like a glass of... water and tasted like it had been diluted. The Sunday lunch was terrible, the beef was over cooked and completely tasteless, the veg and potatoes were frozen and were also tasteless. The gravy tasted like gravy granules and was very thin. I was very disappointed as the setting is amazing and with a little more effort could have been so much better. I really wouldn’t have minded paying more for a decent meal. More

The landlady and the staff didn't welcome us at all, I felt as though they were doing us a favour, yet I've been there lots of times ( never again, from now on). The menu was very basic, whereas before there was a wider choice.... I had fish and chips, the batter was a bit soggy and unappetising, the chips were sparse and the "clotted cream" ice cream turned out to be your common or garden vanilla variety. There wasn't any "Did you enjoy your meal?" and "Thank you, come again". I'll cross this pub off my list. More

I visited the Traveller’s Rest last night for dinner with my boyfriend and another couple. The staff were really welcoming and friendly and were patient with us when choosing our orders. We all had main courses and desserts and everything that was served was of... excellent standard. The strawberry cheesecake was particularly light and delicious. We cannot wait to return to try some of the other options on the menu! More

Very disappointing visit for Sunday lunch with friends. Roast beef meals arrived cold, returned after being reheated in microwave. Beef was hard to cut and whole meal was tasteless. I cannot believe a chef would produce such a poor meal. Service was average and no... one asked if everything was ok. A 250ml glass of Merlot was £10 which must be a 500% mark up! The only saving grace was the pudding and I wish I had just had that. If you are looking for a tasty Sunday lunch I would not advise visiting here. More

Just visited Travellers Rest for lunch. Excellent meal and service. It,'s refreshing to find a pub restaurant that serves good pub grub of high quality at a reasonable price. Would highly recommend tp anyone.

For me, the main draw was the separate gluten-free menu which always gives me confidence. I had GF whitebait for the first time in 7 years & it was delicious! The small fish & chips for £10.00 was a real bargain & served piping hot.... Advise sticking to the Classics as Singapore noodles not so good. Try to book in advance & ask for a table near the window where you get stunning views. Staff under pressure, but remained calm & friendly, & we didn't wait too long for our food. More

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the service was good. There was a decent Sunday roast option for vegetarians, which is always welcome. The food was nice and reasonably priced, and the pub was all clean and tidy. Would definitely go back!

We visited the travellers rest after hearing it had changed ownership and were looking forward to trying it out for Sunday roast. We are regulars and absolutely loved the previous roast so we’re hoping it would be even better. However we were slightly disappointed. The... menu has changed and the selection is quite limited but still looks nice, however the prices are quite extortionate. £17 for fish and chips and we paid £25pp for a trio of roast! The table opposite us were shocked and nearly left at the sight of the new menu prices and complained to the member of staff. The roast was tasty and the meat was nice, however the portion was tiny. For the price you pay you expect to walk away stuffed but we were unfortunately still very hungry. We were surprised at the 3 tiny potatoes (pic included), not even a full potato! One of the 3 potatoes was a boiled potato which was a bit random!? We also had 1 tiny skinny parsnip and 1 small sausage wrapped in bacon. The veg also seemed a bit cheap and almost like from a frozen pack. For the price you pay you expect to get full carrots and premium veg etc. Unfortunately it does not look like this will be a regular for us anymore, hopefully it improves as they find their feet and listen to feedback. We stopped at this aptly named pub for lunch during our 4hr journey on Saturday & really enjoyed the experience. Firstly, it is worth sitting in their conservatory area for the stunning far reaching views, we were offered it but sat near the bar, only... afterwards realising the benefit! We didn't want a heavy meal so can highly recommend the cauliflower soup with warm bread and my partner said the chips with the burger were awesome! The staff were very friendly and attentive to my allergy ensuring the soup was served without that added ingredient. We departed very happy and would certainly choose to stop here again when we are in the area. Well done Team Travellers Rest! More

On a very rare child free night, we had a absolutely lovely date night at the Travellers Rest. All the staff were warm, friendly and welcoming and the food was beautiful!!! I had the roasted chicken breast with bacon and mushroom sauce and new potatoes... and vegetables, it was elegant to look at and tasted amazing. My other half had a steak which he declared was the best he'd had in a very long time. Next time we go (as we'll definitely be back), I'll be having one of their milkshakes for pudding as the staff told me all about them and they sounded amazing... I wanted one tonight but I'd already broken my diet with my meal so had to behave somewhere haha. More

My wife and I had our dinner here this evening which was wonderfully average. Firstly the bar staff were very inattentive when we were trying to alert someone to the fact that we had booked a table. My original order for both food and drink... were both “off the menu”, however I needed to order and wait ages before I was told this! Also our table was very sticky so the level of cleaning should be improved. We won’t be coming back. More

Excellent lunch for eight of us, two of us have gluten intolerance and we were excellently catered for by very attentive smiley staff. Food was thoroughly enjoyable and the views from the conservatory, spotting wild life was great. Would highly recommend this traditional pub to... everyone. More

BRS Airport Overview

bristol airport guide

What to Expect

Bristol Airport (code: BRS) provides passenger services in a modern, single-terminal building with 16 gates, and a variety of shopping and dining options, including duty-free and at least one 24-hour eatery. WiFi is available, and additional services and comforts can be found through fee-based access to the airport’s first class lounge. See Airport Lounges in the guide below for locations and rates.

Sleeping in Bristol Airport

Many passengers choose to sleep in the airport overnight due to early morning flights; however, there have been reports of airport staff waking overnight sleepers. The terminal is small, and most seating consists of armrest-free benches that are described as uncomfortable, so be prepared to sleep on the floor. Travellers should bring extra layers or a travel blanket, and earplugs/noise-cancelling headphones to account for chilly temperatures and noise in the terminal. For uninterrupted sleep, there is a hotel at the airport and some other hotels within walking distance. See our Airport Hotels section below for more info or read some traveller airport reviews for more tips.

To help us keep this guide up-to-date, you can add or update information or write a review to submit airport tips and photos. You can also visit the airport’s web site for current information.  For more airport information continue scrolling down to explore more in our Bristol Airport Guide.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.  For more information on Europe’s Schengen Area, click here .

  • AspirePlus Lounge – Location: Airside, Mezzanine Floor.

Do not use this lounge for sleeping . A traveller who visited the lounge in November 2015 says “I fell asleep in the Aspire lounge ($6,000 1st class ticket) and instead of politely telling me that sleeping was not allowed in the lounge, the attendant talked loudly at the front calling me names in order to try and shame me into leaving.”
