TRUE linkswear LUX Tour Shoe Review

True linkswear lux tour shoe.

TRUE linkswear’s LUX Pro shoe was arguably the brand’s top on-course shoe boasting premium performance in all conditions. As beloved as that shoe was to many, TRUE knew they could improve it. And improve it they indeed did. The new TRUE linkswear LUX Tour builds off of the LUX Pro foundation but with major improvements to its comfort and performance.

TRUE linkswear is offering the LUX Tour in three different main colorways out of the gate. There are two white options to pick from, such as the white/staple pictured here or a white/navy version where the back color accents are navy blue. The third option is an all black version with a white midsole. All three versions feature a transparent sole displaying “TRUE” branding visible on the bottom of the midsole.

In full TRUE linkswear style, the LUX Tour looks just as appropriate off the course as they do on it. I’d classify the style as “street-casual sneaker” that looks good whether you’re wearing shorts, pants, or jeans. And let’s be honest, some people reading this are wearing jeans on the course from time to time so the LUX Tour is perfect as “parking lot-to-course” footwear for that player! I like the LUX Tour because it performs well and looks good, and then I can just walk off the course to run some errands or meet up with the family for dinner and don’t have to change my shoes.

Comfort Level

I was really looking for there to be some major improvements in the comfort department with the TRUE linkswear LUX Tour shoes. The original LUX Pro shoes were fairly solid, but after continued use, I felt there were definitely opportunities to improve. In my opinion, the TRUE linkswear did quite a bit to address those areas in the LUX Tour. Easily the most important being the Achilles heel pad and TPU heel stabilizer. Over time, the older LUX Pro would do a good number on my Achilles, but the addition of this new pad makes for a much more comfortable wear over long wears. I would still advise decent sock coverage during the break in period as that pad softens up a bit. Additionally, the heel stabilizer keeps your ankle and heel more locked in so there’s less float and friction in this portion of the shoe.

TRUE linkswear has also updated the Wanderlux midsole to provide a more comfortable footbed. I found this updated midsole, along with TRUE’s new insert, to make for a much more comfortable walk over 18+ holes. While the originals weren’t bad, the new LUX Tour is a more enjoyable all-day walking experience from a comfort perspective.

On-Course Performance

From an all-around performance perspective, the LUX Tour might be TRUE linkswear’s best on-course golf shoe. As far as spikeless golf shoes go, TRUE linkswear’s tread has proven to be one of the better ones I’ve used. It also transitions from the parking lot to the course really well if that’s something you focus on. I’ve found that I’m able to maintain strong traction on a wide variety of surfaces with an aggressive swing. The Wanderlux midsole and the Heel Lock system also play a key role in the traction by providing a solid foundation and ground response. By being able to get good feedback from the ground over a stable platform, it’s much easier to maintain your balance and stay connected to your ground.

Additionally, the LUX Tour is TRUE’s best waterproof shoe. Yes, TRUE offers other models that are fully waterproof, but the Top Grain Napa leather manages mud, dirt, sand, and water the best out of all of them. They also still breath well for a leather shoe so you won’t overheat, but will also be warm enough for colder days. For these reasons, the LUX Tour has become my go-to shoe for playing in “less than favorable” conditions. (The LUX Hybrid is still my absolute favorite shoe to play in under normal conditions.)

Final Thoughts – TRUE linkswear LUX Tour Shoe

The TRUE linkswear LUX Tour is a delightful upgrade from the original LUX Pro, offering golfers more comfort and the performance I’ve come to expect from this brand. Though a small change, the improved heel pad is a mighty one and drastically improves the experience of the shoe. This change truly makes the LUX Tour a comfortable shoe that is an easy all-day wear no matter the elements. And if my review isn’t testament enough, the LUX Tour is a dominant favorite amongst TRUE linkswear Tour staffers for the very same reasons!

Those like myself who like to keep a keen eye on fashion trends in golf shoes will have noticed a move toward the 'hybrid' golf shoe over recent years - that is, a shoe that can be worn comfortably on and off the golf course. As golf fashion has started leaning more into the casual- think golf hoodies and golf joggers - so have the best golf shoes . True Linkswear - a relatively fresh brand out of the Pacific Northwest - has truly leaned into this part of the market with its commitment to casual golf shoes that can offer comfort, performance and that all-important wearability off the golf course. The Lux Hybrid is one of the brand's flagship models, promising a lightweight and fully waterproof knit golf shoe for all year round. Is it possible to create the perfect blend of performance on the course and comfort off it?

From a looks perspective, I think we can all agree this shoe would comfortably blend in pretty much any environment. From the moment you step out of your front door to play golf, you can wear these shoes all day long and with pretty much any outfit thanks to the selection of neutral colors and smart-casual silhouette. More than just the looks, it's as comfortable as any standard sneaker is day-to-day too. The Wanderlux midsole is right up there with the midsole technology on some of the best spikeless golf shoes of the year. It's soft to the touch but still firm enough underfoot to offer a decent amount of support during the golf swing. 

Weighing just 11.2oz, it's also one of the lightest spikeless golf shoes I have tested. There's no better feeling than slipping into a genuinely lightweight pair of golf shoes and during the 10,000 or so steps you'll take on average over 18 holes, a lightweight shoe really does reduce overall fatigue in your legs. The lightweight, low-profile nature of this golf shoe does mean it lacks a little support around on the sides of the feet than some of its competitors, however. Shoes like the Cole Haan ZeroGrand Overtake or Under Armour Charged Phantom SL have a little more support around the foot when you're swinging, so bare this in mind if you prefer a more 'locked-in' feeling from a spikeless golf shoe. 

The rubber spikeless outsole on the Lux Hyrbid is useful in that it's incredibly low-profile and you can barely feel the nubs when walking on firmer surfaces off the course. As for grip on the course, it was great in dry conditions and surprisingly grippy in wet conditions. There's no doubt the outsole on shoes like the FootJoy Pro SL , Under Armour HOVR Tour , and Payntr X-003 F is much more comprehensive than that on the Lux Hybrid, but none of these examples are designed to also be worn comfortably off course. 

I've tested the Lux Hybrid on golf courses here in the UK in pretty wet conditions this March, and the fully waterproof knit material on the upper is a huge positive. It looks like a material that is bound to get soggy quickly, but it actually wicks off any water and stays bone dry. That being said, I wouldn't actually wear these shoes in properly wet or muddy conditions as the overall grip simply isn't there and I can imagine the fabric getting ruined quickly in the mud. These are certainly a shoe for the summertime, but there is at least some real confidence that if you get caught in a rain shower or if there is some morning dew on the ground, your feet will stay bone dry. The performance of this shoe alongside it's versatility are what has earned it a place on our 2023 Editor's Choice .

A hybrid golf shoe has to get a lot right to warrant a place in a golfer's wardrobe. It has to give you grip, comfort, and support on the golf course while aesthetically blending in off it. The Lux Hybrid is one of the best examples of a hybrid golf shoe I have tested, straddling the line between comfort and performance impressively while offering a style that will suit a lot of golfers on and off-course fashion. Available in six stylish colors and coming in a very useful shoe bag instead of a cardboard box, the Lux Hybrid can tick a lot of boxes as your next golf shoe and next casual shoe purchase. 

Does the True Linkswear Lux Hybrid fit true to size?

The Lux Hybrid comes up a touch small, so I would recommend going up half a size.

The TRUE Linkswear Lux Hybrid is one of the most stable TRUE golf shoes yet.  A great mid-point between natural motion/zero drop and traditional, highly structured shoes.

Introduction

As longtime fans of TRUE Linkswear, it’s fun to watch the brand continue to evolve their designs.  Looking back, you can see certain fan-favorite elements carry forward while TRUE innovates with materials and combinations of features.  The new Lux Hybrid golf shoe borrows elements from previous Lux shoes like the Lux Pro [review HERE ] and Lux Sport while raising the bar for heel stability and performance.

The TRUE Linkswear Lux Hybrid golf shoes are hard to categorize, blending elements of a traditional golf shoe with modern features .  Borrowing from the Lux Knit, the Lux Hybrid has a modern, waterproof knit upper.  The leather saddle throws a traditional element into the mix.  A camo pattern on the leather will keep anyone from thinking you borrowed your grandpa’s shoes.  True to form, TRUE keeps the branding very minimal – just a small logo on the tongue and heel.

TRUE offers the Lux Hybrid in five colorways .  Seen here is the High Vis Grey.  There’s also High Vis White and High Vis Black which have camo patterns on the saddle, too.  Cognac is a cream base with a brown, perforated leather saddle.  Finally, Admiral is a navy base with dark brown leather.

As we expect from TRUE Linkswear, the Lux Hybrid is comfortable out of the box .  TRUE rates these shoes as “Wide” – the middle of their range.  There’s a lot of room in the toe box , and the shoe gives your foot plenty of space overall.

Underfoot , the Lux Hybrid is a little firmer and more structured than the average TRUE .  It doesn’t have the barefoot feel of something like the OG Feel [review HERE ], but it doesn’t completely isolate you from the ground either.  This is a solid midpoint between traditional and natural motion shoes.

Performance

The TRUE Linkswear Lux Hybrid is billed as their best ever “TOUR performance shoe.”  This description provides a lot of insight into what they were aiming for – and achieved – with this shoe.  It’s a blend of traditional golf shoe elements with some of the hallmarks of TRUE Linkswear.

For me, that starts with the structure of the shoe.  Thanks to a variety of elements, the Lux Hybrid provides more stability than most other TRUEs .  Among those ingredients are the leather saddle and the heel lock system.  The Lux Hybrid won’t put your feet in concrete, but it does give you a more stable base during the swing.

The Lux Hybrid also features a “Transitional Drop” of 6 mm .  This is more than the new Knit 3 [review HERE ], but far less than your average golf shoe.  If you want to start moving away from wearing high heels on the course, this can be your gateway shoe.

One element of the shoe that’s fully “Tour” is the waterproofing.  The Lux Hybrid has a waterproof knit upper that’s ringed with a TPU mudguard .  This is an all-weather TRUE, one you can bring on your golf trip regardless of the forecast.

Finally, the TRUE Linskwear Lux Hybrid utilizes the same Tour-tested tread pattern we’ve seen for the last couple generations.  It offers good traction in the majority of conditions .  For truly sloppy turf, you may want the additional bite of replaceable spikes, but this sole provides good stability for most rounds.

The TRUE Linkswear Lux Hybrid is a perfect bridge shoe for golfers who want to get away from overbuilt footwear.  With a more structured feel and full waterproofing, it provides the things many golfers can’t live without.  The comfort is classic TRUE, and the transitional heel drop can be the basis for a more balanced swing.

I’ve been surfing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. In my view, if all web owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the internet will be much more useful than ever before.

Thx for the detailed review. These have been on my ponder list for two weeks. I keep on waiting for that evasive promo code or a True golfer to win.

I tried this exact shoe last week and frankly was disappointed in comfort level. Nowhere near is comfy as the true knit 2 or lux sport which is also waterproof. My opinion only but if I want more structure a better feeling bad weather shoe is my Payntr X001, will as much or more grip, easy cleaning.

I didn’t understand why no price was entered in your article, so I looked up their Canadian site . The majority of their shoes at $275 – $350 all in. At this price point I’ll pass!.

It’s nice to see True go for a middle ground of flexibility. Rather the opposite of what FootJoy has done with the Hyperflex, which is now NO flex.

How did we get our start.

A couple of brothers grow up playing and working around their family driving range. Golfing since they could walk, they end up experiencing nearly every level of competition, sub-culture and nuance that is golf - one eventually arriving on TOUR, the other traveling along as his caddie. Exploring the world, walking the fairways of major championships together for years, there was just one thing they couldn't find - a golf shoe they actually enjoyed wearing. Theatres in Moscow

Cultural life of Moscow city is various and rich! Operas, ballets, symphonic concerts... Russian composers have created some of the most beautiful classical music. Russian classical music is very popular in Moscow. It is performed in many beautiful historical venues. Do not forget to include a visit to a concert hall in your itinerary when you are planning your stay in Moscow! And do it in advance.

There are almost no restrictions on dress code in Russian theatres. Visitors may wear jeans and sports shoes, they may have a backpack with them. Only shorts are not allowed.

A typical feature of Russian theatre – visitors are bringing a lot of flowers which they present to their favorite performers after the show.

Here are some practical advices where to go and how to buy tickets.

The Bolshoi Theatre

The Bolshoi Theatre is the oldest, the most famous and popular opera and ballet theatre in Russia. The word “Bolshoi” means “big” in Russian. You can buy a ticket online in advance, 2-3 months before the date of performance on the official website . Prices for famous ballets are high: 6-8 thousand rubles for a seat in stalls. Tickets to operas are cheaper: you can get a good seat for 4-5 thousand rubles. Tickets are cheaper for daytime performances and performances on the New Stage. The New Stage is situated in the light-green building to the left of the Bolshoi's main building. The quality of operas and ballets shown on the New Stage is excellent too. However, you should pay attention that many seats of the Bolshoi’s Old and New Stages have limited visibility . If you want to see the Bolshoi’s Old Stage but all tickets are sold out, you can order a tour of the theatre. You can book such a tour on the official website.

If you want, following Russian tradition, to give flowers to the performers at the end of the show, in the Bolshoi flowers should be presented via special staff who collects these flowers in advance.

In August the Bolshoi is closed.

The Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre

This theatre is noteworthy. On one hand, it offers brilliant classical opera and ballet performances. On the other hand, it is an experimental venue for modern artists. The theatre has a very beautiful historic building and a stage with a good view from every seat. Tickets are twice cheaper than in the Bolshoi.

The Novaya Opera

“Novaya” means “New” in Russian. This opera house was founded in 1991 by a famous conductor Eugene Kolobov. Its repertoire has several directions: Russian and Western classics, original shows and divertissements, and operas of the 20th and 21st centuries. It is very popular with Muscovites for excellent quality of performances, a comfortable hall, a beautiful Art Nouveau building and a historic park Hermitage, which is situated right next to it. Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Center

The Opera Center has become one of the best theatrical venues in Moscow. It was founded in 2002 by great diva Galina Vishnevskaya. Nowadays its artistic director is Olga Rostropovich, daughter of Galina Vishnevskaya and her husband Mstislav Rostropovich, great cellist and conductor. Not only best young opera singers perform here, but also world music stars do; chamber and symphonic concerts, theatrical productions and musical festivals take place here. Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and The Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory

These are two major concert halls for symphonic music in Moscow. Both feature excellent acoustics, impressive interior, various repertoire and best performers. Moscow International Performing Arts Center (MIPAC)

This modern and elegant concert hall houses performances of national and foreign symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, solo instrumentalists, opera singers, ballet dancers, theatre companies, jazz bands, variety and traditional ensembles. Actually, it has three concert halls placed on three different levels and having separate entrances.
