Two Another are the Sydney-raised, Europe-trotting electronic duo you need to meet

After releasing an acclaimed project last year, the pairing of angus campbell and eliot porter are now one of electronic's most in-demand acts..

Header image by Walid Labri.

If you haven't read of their journey already, Two Another have an interesting history. It's a duo comprised of UK-born Angus Campbell and US-born Eliot Porter, moving to Australia and becoming family friends with one another before becoming close at a dance music production / DJing workshop run by Bag Raiders, where they identified a shared interest in dance music's pacing rhythms and have become close-knit pals and collaborators since.

The duo's fascination in dance music was something they began further pursuing after finishing school, working with another friend to produce and write music in their downtime. In 2014, they - like many other new-emerging Australian dance acts - were drawn to the cultural emphasis of dance music in Europe, moving throughout Europe and the UK - Angus is London; Eliot in Brussels - until they both came together in London a year later, and Two Another were born.

Since then, the duo have kept busy forging their sound and crafting a vision that over the last four/five years has trickled through the saturated dance music space, making itself known through singles and mixes littering the last little while. With every release the pairing have put out, they've shown growth and evolution within electronic's most sun-soaked and energetic tones. Over the years, they've layered their distinct sound with textures of funk, disco, house, pop, indie and beyond; each new sound smoothly intertwined into the Two Another umbrella as if it's always been there - a testament to their craft as musicians and the skillset they've carved over the years.

It's a versatility that shined on their  Another Tape  collection back in 2018, and again on their breakthrough  Two Sides  project last year; the latter being an adventurous leap into live instrumentation that further layered the duo's sound with experimentation and growth. "In terms of the overall sound of the EP we were really inspired by trip-hop artists like Massive Attack and Portishead who we listened to a lot growing up," the duo said with the EP's initial release. "We wanted to use more sampling, live instrumentation and really take our time recording the vocals – we honestly think it was the first time we didn’t record most of the vocals in a bedroom."

Now based separately once again (they live between Stockholm and Amsterdam), Two Another's trajectory continues to curve upwards as they adventure into new methods of songwriting and production - something as seen through what they've delivered in the year or so since  Another Tape's  arrival. Since their last EP, the pair have become electronic go-to's, working alongside Claptone ( Golden ) and The Magician ( Hippies ) while building new material of their own, even while on different sides of Europe's Scandinavian divide.

Their new single  Jump , however, is the first major Two Another release since  Another Tape's  arrival, and it shows how exactly the duo are forging their next moves in a world aside from collaboration with other artists. It's a song that's remarkable in how it switches between sounds and textures, creating this kind-of mish-mash of trip-hop and house-leaning electronica that they unite with hookier, pop/R&B-aligned vocals; the end result being a blend of sonics that really stand out from Two Another's discography, and feel unlike anything else we've heard from the pair thus far.

In saying that, it's a natural progression from the varying sounds that  Another Tape  offered; an evolution that captures the experimentation rife amongst the pairing's production processes and how it continues to grow with everything they do.

"We made Jump at a turbulent time in both our lives, but what came out of this adversity reinvigorated our friendship and creative partnership," says the duo;  Jump  appearing to be a song that defines a new chapter for the ever-evolving pairing. "Lyrically and sonically it sets the tone for what you will hear from us over the coming months."

It's an exciting next step in the Two Another journey, and with plenty more to come, they're a pair that you need to meet if you haven't already been introduced. Do so below, as the pair share their new single  Jump  and have their sights set on more in the near-horizon:

Much of their sound is influenced by their love of ‘90s electronic dance music and hip-hop. They released their debut studio album in 2018, which was entitled Another Tape .

Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department is here, but it could be a logistical nightmare for the Eras Tour

A black and white photo of Swift holding up The Tortured Poets Department, and peering through the transparent vinyl

Get ready for another Taylor Swift era.

The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD) is the superstar's 11th studio album and is being released around the world today.

It'll be dropping the second the clock hits midnight on the east coast of America, which will be this afternoon in Australia.

  • 2pm AEST : ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania, Victoria
  • 1:30pm ACST : Northern Territory and South Australia
  • 12pm AWST : Western Australia

So far, we know the album is a whopping 16 songs (not including bonus vinyl tracks) and features multiple collaborations, including with Florence + The Machine.

We also know the first single will be Fortnight featuring Post Malone, with a music video dropping tomorrow morning as well.

Despite no singles being released in its lead up, clues point to TTPD seemingly being inspired by the five stages of grief : denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.

Plus, many fans have speculated that the album title is a reference to the name of a group chat Swift's ex was part of – The Tortured Man Club.

And while The Tortured Poets Department could very well set new streaming records, it also poses a logistical nightmare for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour: how do you include yet another album into a show that is over three hours long?

Below, two ABC reporters and Swifties weigh up the likelihood of how the megastar might adapt her sell-out tour when it recommences in Europe next month.

We could lose some songs from every era to make room

Jessica : This seems like the most likely course of action. To put things into perspective, the Eras Tour includes songs from nine albums, but their airtime varies wildly. Lover, Folklore and Midnights have at least six songs, while Speak Now gets just two. So this might be a chance to balance things out?

Georgie : It would make the most sense to me. I can't imagine a tour that doesn't spend at least some time on the freshest music. But, this is a unique scenario. You have an artist who is essentially doing a greatest hits tour at the age of 34 while she is still churning out new music.

If she does cut music to make room for Tortured Poets, it will be very divisive. Every fan has their favourite era. But, I think if she was to I would hope she cuts songs she has already toured. You have to remember she put out four (now five) albums since her last tour and I imagine it would make the most sense for her to give more air time to Lover, Folklore, Evermore, Midnights and TTPD.

Jessica : If you were in charge of Taylor Swift's setlist, which songs would you cull? I'd ditch The Archer from the Lover era so it ends with, well, Lover. I'd be ruthless and cut most of the songs from the Red era as nothing compares to All Too Well (10 Minute Version). But keep the Reputation portion as is! It's perfect.

What if smaller eras, like Fearless and Speak Now, got cut altogether?

Taylor Swift performs in a glittering lavender ballgown.

Jessica : I love chaos so I would not bat an eye if Taylor Swift dropped the entire Speak Now era from her tour. (But Enchanted is such a core memory for a lot of fans.) I know this might be a wild concept but there's not one song from her self-titled debut album in the Eras Tour (justice for Our Song!), so make of that what you will.

Georgie : I think this will cause a major generational divide. The beautiful part about the Eras Tour is you have fans new and old coming together. Taylor has been making music since 2009 and the Eras Tour has been a chance for people in their twenties and thirties to dress up in glitter and be teenagers again while sharing the new music with teenagers today. I'm a folklore girl through and through so I am hoping if any eras get sacrificed it's the older ones. But I can't lie, it's pretty special to belt out Love Story with thousands of other people.

Could we lose the two surprise songs for a few Tortured Poets hits?

Georgie : Controversial opinion but I would be ok with this. Although, take this as you want because I have experienced the Eras Tour. But the section is a gamble anyway. You never know what she's going to play and someone is always disappointed or their top pick is played another night. If you cut this section, no-one gets hurt. Maybe she subs it out for three best songs from TTPD?

Jessica : I missed out on tickets for the Eras Tour altogether so I was taken aback seeing fans who did score tickets complaining about which night got "better" surprise songs. You can't please everyone! I agree, this would level the playing field and take the comparison factor out of the tour… but I wonder if that uniqueness is a marketing factor as some super fans attend multiple concerts in the same city.

Sabrina and Taylor smile at each other on stage at a piano that’s decorated with painted flowers

Imagine if she just… didn't play her new album

Georgie : Don't say it or it might come true!

Jessica : I think this would be the riskiest option. Imagine the disappointment on the first night when the tour recommences in Paris on May 9. But some fans, especially in America, who witnessed the Eras Tour last year before this album was announced feel it's unfair if other countries get a different experience. But that's what happens with the passage of time!

Georgie : I see your point but you have to remember we're in an age where many people have watched the Eras Tour happen through TikTok and the cinema release. So is it really missing out when it's been inescapable for over a year? This could be a chance for the people who have waited so long for the Europe leg – who have basically watched the tour on streaming and all over TikTok – to have something unique and worth the cash.

Or she could just include the new album and make the show nearly *four hours* long?

Jessica : I think this option would please the most fans, but I genuinely don't know how she performs for hours on end each night and then travels through different time zones. Oh,  to be a billionaire with a whole team taking care of everything all the time.

Georgie : I don't see this happening. Costs would skyrocket and many stadiums have a noise curfew. That's new costumes, sets and dance routines.

Jessica : But I would eat up new costumes, sets and dance routines! A four-hour concert is outrageous, which makes me think she might very well pick this option. Time will tell.

Georgie : I'm obviously a Swiftie but when I found out about the new album and what that might mean for the tour I just felt… overwhelmed. I'm still processing the release of four albums and two Taylor's Versions in four years. And now she's putting out new music? It's simply too much! The concert is a marathon but if I did have to go to a four-hour show, I'd do it for Ms Swift.

The worst option: Swapping All Too Well (10 Minute Version) for the radio edit to save time

Jessica : Sacrilegious.

Georgie : The people would riot. Jake Gyllenhaal would be thrilled though.

Final thoughts

Jessica : With everything going on in the world, I think this is a fun problem to ponder, and an interesting one for Taylor to tackle. I wish her well in whatever form the Eras Tour takes, because fans are going to have strong opinions either way.

Georgie: I worry that Taylor needs a holiday but, as you said, she's a billionaire now so I think she'll be fine. I hope she tours future albums but I also support her having a rest. Go chill with the cats and Travis. You've danced in high heeled boots for two years.

Worthington Farmers Market, Columbus Food Adventures voted as the best in the country

Local produce at the farmers market in Worthington.

The Worthington Farmers Market is to open its summer season May 4 with a major honor to its credit. It has been voted by readers of USA TODAY as the nation's best farmers market.

They must be doing something right at the market that runs every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon along a stretch of High Street in Old Worthington. The Worthington Farmers Market topped outdoor markets that operate along the Intracoastal Waterway in West Palm Beach, Florida, and at an oceanfront park in Honolulu.

The West Palm Beach GreenMarket had been voted No. 1 in USA TODAY's 10 best reader polls for three straight years. This was the first year Worthington's market was nominated by a panel of travel writers and other experts.

More farmers markets: When do area farmers markets open? Here's a guide to where and when to go

The result of reader votes were announced today.

"Nearly 100 vendors from the Columbus area converge for the year-round Worthington Farmers Market that adapts to the seasons," USA TODAY wrote.

"In summer, May through October, farmers and producers of high-quality food and plants sell al fresco in the Old Worthington Historic District. The rest of the year, the market goes indoors at The Shops at Worthington Place."

The last indoor market takes place Saturday before it moves outdoors for summer.

Organizers say the Worthington Farmers Market, which began in 1987, should have its highest number of vendors ever this summer.

Columbus Food Adventures another favorite

Another favorite of Columbus foodies also was voted as the nation's best by USA TODAY readers. Columbus Food Adventures , which leads geography and cuisine-based food tours in Columbus and its suburbs, topped a list of nominees that included tours in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans and Chicago.

Here's how Columbus Food Adventures was described by USA TODAY: "From neighborhood walking tours to by-van excursions and private tours, Columbus Food Adventures offers a full menu of ways to meet the area's rich culinary scene. Whether you're a meat-lover, brew-hound, taco fiend or gastronomic globe-trotter, there's a tour to fit your appetite."

Walking tours include the Short North, German Village, Grandview Avenue, Dublin and Old Worthington, while van tours hit local taco trucks or a variety of international restaurants.

Results of a third USA TODAY reader vote also were announced. Budd Dairy Food Hall , the Italian-Village collection of bars and restaurants in an old milk-bottling plant, finished at No. 3 in voting for the nation's best food hall.

Mother Road Market in Tulsa, Oklahoma, finished at the top in national voting, while the Garage Food Hall in Indianapolis finished second.

Budd Dairy was ranked sixth in a list of the best U.S. food halls posted by the global travel site Big 7 Travel .

Charli XCX, Troye Sivan bringing 'Sweat Tour' to Nashville's Bridgestone Arena

two another tour

Pop sensations Charli XCX and Troye Sivan have announced a joint 2024 tour. The duo's Sweat North American Tour will stop in Nashville at Bridgestone Arena on Oct. 2.

The tour announcement comes on the heels of Charli XCX teasing a new collaboration with Sivan on Instagram . The rumors of a joint tour began during Coachella this year when fans spotted a billboard with both stars' names on it.

Sivan released his runaway album "Something to Give Each Other" in October with hits "Rush," "One of Your Girls" and "Got Me Started."

Charli XCX dropped her most recent album "Crash" in 2022, with songs "Crash," "Yuck" and "New Shapes." She's best known for tunes "Boom Clap" and her new 2024 single "Von Dutch," which will appear on her upcoming album "Brat." The new album drops on June 7.

The 21-date tour will begin in September in Detroit and will visit Toronto, New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Chicago and more.

Together, the two stars collaborated on the 2018 song "1999" and 2019 song "2099."

Perhaps another new single, "Sweat," will soon appear.

How do I get Nashville tickets to Charli XCX and Troye Sivan's tour?

Fans can sign up for presale tickets through April 25 at sweat-tour.com . Artist presale will begin on April 25 at 10 a.m. CST.

With Bob Baffert suspended from Churchill Downs, D. Wayne Lukas reigns as the track's most distinguished active trainer. Entering the 2024 Kentucky Derby, he's won the first leg of the Triple Crown four times, which trails only Baffert (six) and the deceased Ben Jones (six). On Saturday, May 4, Lukas will send his 50th starter to the Kentucky Derby 2024 with Just Steel. The horse has a connection to Baffert, as Just Steel is the son of Justify, whom Baffert saddled to the Triple Crown in 2018.

Just Steel has been active and already raced 11 times, but having just two wins places him as a 25-1 longshot, per the latest 2024 Kentucky Derby odds. If you want to use the favorites in your horseracing bets, then Fierceness (3-1) or Sierra Leone (7-2) appeal as better 2024 Kentucky Derby horses. With so much to consider while making your 2024 Kentucky Derby picks, a little expert help can go a long way .

The 2024 Kentucky Derby marks the 100th anniversary of the historic race on May 17, 1924. It was then when Black Gold galloped to victory from the No. 1 post to give owner Rosa Hoot the biggest win of her career. Hoot was also the horse's breeder, so this marked the first time in Kentucky Derby history that a woman both owned and bred the winner. Black Gold would not compete in the Preakness or Belmont, while his life would end where his career began. His first victory came at New Orleans Fair Grounds, and then as a 7-year-old in 1928, he broke his leg during a race at the same track. He still managed to finish the race on three legs, but would be euthanized afterwards and is buried on the infield of the New Orleans Fair Grounds.

Given all the history, there's a method to picking which horses to focus on for exacta, trifecta and superfecta bets in a Kentucky Derby like this, and SportsLine expert Jody Demling knows what it is. He can help you make the best 2024 Kentucky Derby picks possible .

A fixture in the horse racing world who has been writing about, talking about and betting on races for years, Demling enters the 2024 Kentucky Derby having nailed the winner of the Belmont Stakes four of the last six years, including an exacta in 2022 with Mo Donegal and Nest. He also called Flightline's win at the Breeders' Cup Classic in November of that year.

Demling is at his best in the biggest horse races in the world like the Kentucky Derby 2024. In fact, he has hit 10 of the last 15 Derby-Oaks doubles at Churchill Downs. That means he held a ticket with the winners of both races all but five times in the last 15 years.

He's also called 10 of the last 19 Preakness winners, including nailing his Preakness winner, exacta and superfecta picks in 2023, keenly understanding when the Kentucky Derby winner was poised for victory or a massive upset. Anyone who has followed him is up huge.  Now, he's sharing all of his 2024 Kentucky Derby bets here .

Top 2024 Kentucky Derby expert picks

Here's a refresher on these types of bets from SportsLine's Jody Demling:

Kentucky Derby Exacta: Pick the first- and second-place finishers in the correct order. A $2 exacta returned $330.44 at the 2023 Kentucky Derby with Mage and Two Phil's.

Kentucky Derby Trifecta: Pick the first-, second- and third-place finishers in the correct order. A $1 trifecta returned $982.36 at the 2023 Kentucky Derby with Mage, Two Phil's and Angel of Empire.

Kentucky Derby Superfecta: Pick the first-, second-, third- and fourth-place finishers in the correct order. A $1 superfecta returned a colossal $15,643.65 at the 2023 Kentucky Derby with Mage, Two Phil's, Angel of Empire and Disarm.

Demling is not taking Fierceness (3-1) to win this year, even though he's the favorite. Instead, he is building his tickets around Sierra Leone and a massive double-digit longshot who "keeps getting better and better." You can see his picks here .

Wolves' Naz Reid named NBA Sixth Man of the Year

StarTribune

Timberwolves eclipse suns 105-93 to take 2-0 lead in playoff series.

This is Chris Hine's live report from Target Center on Tuesday night, from final horn to pregame. To read Chris' final report on Game 2, go here .

9:15 p.m.: Wolves win 105-93

In Game 1, the Timberwolves showed they could at least defeat the Suns.

In Game 2, the Timberwolves proved they could actually beat the Suns. That is, not just win a game, but knock them down, wear them out and perhaps make the Suns question if they have a chance in this series.

The Wolves followed their resounding Game 1 victory with another body blow to the Suns with a 105-93 victory Tuesday night at Target Center and took a 2-0 NBA Western Conference quarterfinal playoff series lead behind a strong second half. All this despite Anthony Edwards scoring just 15 points on 3-for-12 and Karl-Anthony Towns scoring only 12.

The Wolves, who lost all three regular season games to the Suns, got a monster game from Jaden McDaniels on both ends of the floor, as McDaniels scored 25 points and had eight rebounds while defending Devin Booker and Kevin Durant all night. Mike Conley added 18.

The Wolves entered the fourth quarter ahead 78-71 and made the decisive run of the game with Edwards resting. The opened the fourth with a 15-5 run, and after McDaniels cruised to the hoop for two straight layups, Phoenix coach Frank Vogel used his last timeout with 7 minutes, 51 seconds to play as his team looked gassed, worn down by the Wolves' physical play, especially on the defensive end.

Instead of the Wolves losing their composure with officials, as has happened in playoffs past, it was Vogel who manifested the internal desperation the Suns might be feeling as he earned a technical in the fourth quarter while jumping up and down in hysterics after a foul.

The Suns had two off days — Game 3 is Friday night in Phoenix —to figure out how to combat the Wolves' defense, and they came up empty. Booker had 20 points and fouled out with 2:17 to play. Durant had 18 on 6-for-15 while Bradley Beal had 14 points on 6-for-17.

As the game wound down, the crowd engaged in a few "Wolves in four" chants.

Game stats: tap here.

8:40 p.m.: KAT is back, McDaniels is scoring and Wolves are up 78-71

The Wolves' defense had a strong stretch in the third quarter that enabled them to get a 78-71 lead after three quarters.

The Wolves went on a 12-0 run that extended across 4:07 that allowed them to turn a 63-60 deficit into a 72-63 lead, tied for their largest of the night to that point.

Anthony Edwards made a concerted effort to score after going 1-for-5 in the first half. He was 1-for-5 from the floor again, but he had five free throws and was up to 12.

Jaden McDaniels had 18 points by the end of the quarter as his offense came at the right time for the Wolves throughout the night.

Karl-Anthony Towns returned after sitting out the second quarter with three fouls, but picked up No. 4 before the end of the third quarter. He has 10 points.

Suns guard Grayson Allen, playing despite a sprained ankle, had to leave the game in the third quarter.

7:50 p.m.: Wolves cut Suns' lead to one at intermission

Despite Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards combining for just one field goal, the Timberwolves trail the Suns 51-50 at halftime.

Towns sat out the second quarter with three fouls.

The Wolves' offensive woes continued to begin the second, but Mike Conley helped save them. Conley rebounded from a tough Game 1 to have 14 first-half points.

Jaden McDaniels had 12 in the first half as Edwards struggled to get going with five points on 1-for-5 shooting.

The Wolves bench is also struggling after a strong first game. Naz Reid was 0-for-3 and Nickeil Alexander-Walker was 1-for-6.

The Wolves shot just 4-for-15 from three-point range in the first half.

Devin Booker leads Phoenix with 13, seven coming at the free-throw line.

Frustration began to manifest itself in the second quarter at the 4:15 mark after McDaniels and Booker got in a quick shoving match fouling a Booker foul on McDaniels.

Officials reviewed the play and assessed a technical on McDaniels.

7:15 p.m.: Rudy Gobert sparks first-quarter offense

The first quarter was full of emotional swings as the Wolves jumped out to an 8-0 lead and had Target Center jumping.

But Phoenix was able to settle down from there, and the Wolves held on for a 24-21 lead by quarter's end.

Rudy Gobert was 4-for-4 for the Wolves for eight points, but they were 4-for-14 outside of Gobert.

It didn't help the Wolves that Karl-Anthony Towns got in foul trouble, as he picked up three fouls in eight minutes.

Phoenix ended Game 1 with a significant deficit on the glass against the Wolves, but the Suns held an 11-10 rebounding edge and had seven second-chance points.

The Wolves defense held Phoenix to just 7-for-20 from the field while Devin Booker was 2-for-7, but he had four points at the free-throw line.

6:30 p.m.: Kyle Anderson active for Wolves

Top reserve Kyle Anderson is active for the Timberwolves despite a hip pointer, and is going through pregame warmups.

5 p.m.: Grayson Allen will play

Suns coach Frank Vogel said Grayson Allen, the league's top three-point shooter, is available to play after Allen sprained his ankle in the third quarter of Game 1. Vogel said Allen's ankle was still sore but that Allen wasn't going to miss a playoff game.

Wolves coach Chris Finch said the status of Kyle Anderson, who left Game 1 because of a hip pointer, is "to be determined."

Finch was asked about how Jaden McDaniels is such an effective defender; in Game 1 he helped limit Devin Booker to 5-for-16. Finch spoke about McDaniels' competitive streak.

"He's got a really high care factor," Finch said. "He competes on every single play. Sometimes we have to remind him that the game is not 100 possessions. It's not 100 single battles. But that's how he approaches it. He just wants to win every single one and you can see how it bothers him when somebody does get the best of him. Of course he's learning more and more these guys and their individual tendencies.

"He has great length, can battle through and doesn't ever give up on a play. Just all the things you want at a point of attack defender."

The officials tonight are Josh Tiven, Dedric Taylor and crew chief Zach Zarba.

3 p.m.: Post-shootaround, Devin Booker is hot topic

The Timberwolves and Suns have Game 2 of their NBA Western Conference semifinal series tonight, with tip-off at (around) 6:30. The game is on TNT and Bally Sports North.

After the Timberwolves won by 25 in Game 1 on Saturday, Phoenix is sure to come out with a different game plan based on how the Wolves played Saturday. The challenge for the Wolves is anticipating what those adjustments might be and seeing if they can cut off some of what Phoenix might attempt to do differently against them.

"You can try," point guard Mike Conley said at Tuesday's shootaround. "Part of our preparation is to do our best job with predicting what they might try to do. Last game, sometimes you can watch the film and pick out a couple of possessions where you see something that might've worked for them and they might try to do that more often or might try to play at this pace or that pace."

The Suns are likely to try all they can to get Devin Booker more open after Booker went 5-for-16 in Game 1. Meanwhile, Conley is looking to bounce back from a tough Game 1 for himself in which he shot just 2-for-12.

"I haven't thought about it at all," Conley said. "I play these games really game to game for me. I didn't make many, but I think next game I'll make a lot. And then the next game, it'll be Nickeil [Alexander-Walker] or Naz [Reid] or Kyle [Anderson], whoever it may be. I really don't care this time of year. It's about getting the W. Our guys are all confident. I'm confident in myself. I'll be ready to go Game 2."

The Wolves entered the game with Anderson questionable because of a hip pointer he suffered in Game 1. The Suns' Grayson Allen (ankle) is also questionable.

U.S. surfer accompanied by dolphins as she wins world championship event in Australia

Hawaiian surfer Gabriela Bryan shared a wave with a pod of dolphins as she won her first world championship tour event over Californian rookie Sawyer Lindblad in pumping surf at the Western Australia Margaret River Pro on Sunday.

Margaret River local Jack Robinson took out a spectacular men’s final against Hawaii’s two-time world champion John John Florence in a replay of their 2022 final of the same event.

Robinson and Florence were the two form surfers of the event and traded huge carves on the double-overhead walls as the waves finally improved on last day of the 11-day competition window.

The decisive moment came midway through the final when Robinson scored an excellent 9.10 out of 10 for two giant turns on the biggest wave of the day and followed it up with a lofty frontside air on the very next wave for an 8.17.

Florence kept battling and scored an excellent wave of his own but could not reel in the Western Australian, who finished with 17.27 out of 20 to Florence’s 16.04.

“That was the final I wanted, I wanted to throw everything at it. It’s always fun surfing against John — we’re going to have many more heats together,” said Robinson, who missed the event last year due to injury.

The world tour next heads to the thumping tubes of Teahupo’o in Tahiti, where both Robinson and Florence will be among the favourites battling for Olympic gold in just a few months time.

Florence earlier scored the only perfect 10 of the event in his semi-final against Australian wildcard George Pittar, blowing his tail out and holding onto his board with the toenails of one foot before recovering for a couple more turns.

Western Australia Margaret River Pro

Both Bryan, 22, and 18-year-old Lindblad had to go deep at Margaret River to avoid the mid-season cut and secure their place for the remainder of the 2024 tour.

Lindblad went into the final in top form, having dispatched two-time world champion Tyler Wright in their semi-final to secure her place above the cut line.

Bryan took a commanding lead with a 7.83 for two powerful turns on her forehand as a handful of dolphins swooped around her.

“When I kicked out, I was just wow! That wave was sent to me by someone, the dolphins in it. It was magical,” said Bryan, who scored an even better 8.10 on her second scoring ride.

“I’m just so happy we got good waves today and all the girls put on a really good show. It’s insane, I just won!”

Both the men’s and women’s field will now be cut for the final four events of the world tour, with 11-time world champion  Kelly Slater  and Australian veteran Sally Fitzgibbons among those missing out.
