UNSERE AUSZEICHNUNGEN

Nicaragua is a country filled with towering volcanoes, alluring colonial towns, heart pumping adventure, and classic Central American charm! So the best way to maximize our time in this beautiful country is to book a tour with a local guide. This is how we met Franklin, founder of Vamos Travel Nicaragua .

Franklin does it all! From history and transportation to being a photographer and a friend, it was so helpful to travel through Nicaragua with a local expert! (Click here to check out Vamostravelnic Instagram!) Right away, we knew we made the right decision booking a tour with Vamos Travel Nicaragua. It was an amazing feeling to have someone waiting for us at the Costa Rica / Nicaragua border. We didn’t have to worry about bus times, finding an ATM, or using our limited Spanish to try to navigate where we wanted to go. All we had to do was jump in the air conditioned car and relax!

best things to do in Nicaragua

The best thing about our time with Franklin was getting to learn from a local Nicaraguan. Vamos Travel Nicaragua crafts their tours to best experience the country’s history, culture, and food. With more than 16 years of experience as a certified tour guide, Franklin does an incredible job of explaining the difficult and flourishing times of Nicaragua’s history. He is a walking encyclopedia of dates and did a great job of conveying the history and information in an engaging and interesting way!

best things to do in Nicaragua

Franklin is a master at customizing his tours to each of his customers. We told him the things we wanted to see and he made sure that we were able to experience them. It was very helpful with our limited time to have his honest opinion on what was worth seeing and what we could skip. We really wish that we had more time to explore the beautiful country of Nicaragua, but we are so thankful for our incredible experience with Vamos Travel Nicaragua!

'Get the tour bus ready' - Jamie O'Hara makes big Spurs vs Arsenal prediction

‘Get the tour bus ready’ – Jamie O’Hara makes big Spurs vs Arsenal prediction

Bharad Thirumalai

Jamie O’Hara has said that Manchester City are on the cusp of winning the Premier League title, backing Tottenham Hotspur to overcome Arsenal in the North London derby.

While Tottenham’s record at home has been quite good this season, Ange Postecoglou’s men have certainly not been playing their best football over the last couple of months.

They have often struggled to break teams down recently while also looking susceptible at the back.

However, form often goes out of the window when it comes to derby matches and Spurs fans will be hoping that their side can pull a performance out of the bag and get a recent against the old enemy, thus severely denting their Premier League title hopes.

Arsenal

O’Hara thinks Spurs will beat Arsenal easily

O’Hara seems particularly confident that his former side will get the job done against Mikel Arteta’s men, calling on Pep Guardioal’s side to get an open bus tour ready to celebrate their upcoming title win.

The pundit said to a Man City fan who had called in to  talkSPORT : “Arsenal have got to play Spurs, it’s an easy three points for Spurs. You’ve got a game in hand – it’s all over, get the open-top bus parade ready!

MORE SPURS STORIES

“Just repair Liverpool’s farewell tour bus and take that over to Manchester, get it fixed up and get the tour bus ready.”

Spurs Web Opinion

O’Hara seems to be speaking in jest here. I doubt too many Spurs fans are overly confident ahead of the derby, especially given some of our struggles against the likes of Newcastle, West Ham and Fulham over recent weeks.

Keep up to date with all the latest Tottenham news and opinion by following SpursWeb’s Facebook , Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Tour bus with 48 on board catches fire on I-595 in Davie, causing hours-long WB closure; no injuries reported

DAVIE, FLA. (WSVN) - Crews have extinguished a fire that erupted on a tour bus which led to the hours-long closure of the westbound lanes of Interstate 595 near Nob Hill Road.

Davie Fire Rescue units responded to the bus fire just before 3 p.m. on Friday.

7Skyforce captured firefighters as they tackled the flames that ate through what it could of the bus, leaving only a skeleton of it left over.

Crews were able to knock down the blaze on the double decker bus that had 48 people on board at the time it ignited.

The tourists on the bus ran out of the vehicle to avoid getting burned. They were later picked up.

As the tourists stood on the side of the road for hours, first responders handed them water bottles to keep them hydrated.

No injuries have been reported.

Video shared with 7News by viewers shows black smoke and flames from the bus fire.

Neighbors told 7News that it was a scary sight for them to see.

“We heard it. It shook the house,” said one neighbor. “I could hear something blew up on the highway.”

“Thank God, thank God,” said Joi Patterson, a nearby neighbor when she learned there were no injuries.

Patterson said she heard the commotion on the highway.

“We were in the house and playing with the kids, and all of a sudden, we heard an explosion. It sounded like a big boom,” said Patterson.

“It was really scary. All I could think about is, ‘Oh, my God, I don’t know who was on there, I hope it was empty, I hope they got off if there were people on there,'” said Renee Thomas.

Thomas and other neighbors, like Patterson, said they heard multiple popping noises.

“We suspect, one of my neighbors suspected, that it could be the tires,” said Thomas. I can only imagine how terrifying it might have been for the people that were on there.”

“I saw flames up above the wall, I was like, ‘Holy crap,’ and the smoke, the smoke was horrid. It’s, like, didn’t know what was going on for awhile,” said Patterson.

The westbound lanes were back open to traffic by 4:45 p.m.

But during the hours-long closure, traffic stretched all the way back to Interstate 95.

“I think it’s crazy. We had tons of people directed down this road because you couldn’t get through [State Road] 84 and everything,” said Patterson.

The bus was hooked up to a tow truck and towed away.

It remains unclear what started the fire.

Colombia Express

A good introductory tour of Colombia. Standout experiences were the walking tour around central Medellin and the optional visit to Comuna 13 in Medellin with a guide to explain the history of Medellin's troubles and the origin of the street art. Be sure to add additional time in Bogota as the trip spends virtually no time there and the city boasts a wonderful Gold Museum, the Botero Museum and more. Also know that Bogota is about 8,000 feet above sea level and you may not feel great until you get used to the altitude so some extra time helps there too.

Cafe Colombia Tour

I was pleasantly surprised on how many activities had been planned and how well coordinated everything was. Our guide Carolina was great, knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating, and she handled every situation in a professional and competent manner. I was somewhat puzzled at some of the itinerary choices. The first day meeting in Bogota was at 2 pm, when she talked about the things to do in the city (also sent us an email of points of interest) and we afterward had a tour of the neighborhood also pointing out places of interest to visit; however, after that we only had time for dinner and then the following day we left around 11 for the next town. There was absolutely no time to do any of the wonderful things she suggested. My husband and I had gotten there the day before and we got to do a few things on our own. It would have made more sense to meet at 10 or 11 in the morning to leave us more time to explore, or spend and extra day in Bogota. Also the following day we did not get to Salento until the afternoon after flying there, and, again, upon arrival we met and had the town tour to point out wonderful places to eat, listen to music, shop, etc, but did not have any time to do any of those things. I had a lot of fun playing the game of tejo with the group, but was very frustrated that the itinerary did not leave time for anything else in the town except for a 15 minute quick shopping stop. The town was so pretty and there was so much to see it was sad to leave so soon. I think if we had left Bogota early in the morning we would have had more time in Salento. The hike to Cocora valley was the highlight of the trip. It was beautiful and the guide Luis was great. Also the stay in the hacienda and tour of coffee plantation was excellent. Another puzzling part of the itinerary was to put us through a very long bus ride to Medellin that ended being 14 hours long. I get that the circumstances were out of control of the guide and the company (there was an accident ahead with two trucks), but it was already known that there was road construction which already slowed the trip considerably. Adding to that the fact that the trucks were recklessly driving up and down steep hills in construction areas led me to believe that the accident was just waiting to happen, and also put us at risk. Carolina did an excellent job on keeping us calm, but it was also very hard on her and us to had to go through this. It would had made a lot more sense to just fly to the Medellin and avoid wasting an entire day.We loved Medellin, the trip to Santa Helena to the flower farm, and Cartagena. Apart from some of the drawbacks me and my husband had a wonderful trip full of memorable experiences. The hotels were all good. I highly recommend this trip!

Fantastic experience, combining adventures like diving in the Caribbean sea and tubing on a jungle river in the land of a primitive tribe like the Kogis. partying in a Columbian town during the first days of their festival and getting a massage in a volcano mud bath... Noting short of extraordinary and with ecological and ethical concerns as well.

Private Immersive Cultural Tour in Cartagena with Day Trips

I very much enjoyed my time in Cartagena, Columbia, South America in 2022. I was told that the month of December afforded us mildness in regard to the usual warmer temperatures of other months. My Accommodations were comfortable and safe, and we had a magnificent hostess. Bernell's planning was high quality and I did not have to do anything except arrive there. I even had money exchanged before leaving the USA. One less detail for her to have to take care of upon my arrival. We, Bernell and I, made new friends in Cartagena and we are excited to be working with the dance leaders we met to host a Dancing in the Street joint project in the future. More details to come. It is my sincere hope that you all will accept her next invitation to "meet her" in a foreign or unique location, or allow her to plan a travel excursion for your family so you too can experience "travel like a local" -- I guarantee you will be delighted that you did.

We had a wonderful trip to Colombia, visiting Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena. I would particularly express appreciation to the Colombian Trip, which arranged the private tour. Although we never met Andrea, the Tour Manager who worked with us, she was enormously helpful, rearranging dates when our flights were cancelled twice, coordinating with our guides when we had problems and staying in constant contact with us. She was like our Guardian Angel, helping us from afar. We have been on many tours and NEVER had a manager who was as helpful to us. We have a 150% RECOMMENDATION for Colombian Trip and will encourage our friends to visit Colombia and to use the company.

What people love about colombia tours.

Excellent. Thanks ☺️
This was an amazing itinerary! I was a single female traveler and felt safe at all times. I had the best group guide Martin, who was super friendly, knowledgeable & went above and beyond to show us a great time. I have a lot of dietary restrictions & Martin really tried his best to accommodate me, I am so grateful. Unfortunately I had an emergency & had to leave on day 4 so my trip was disrupted. I would love to return to Columbia in the future. This was an action packed itinerary. I highly recommend this tour & tour guide Martin to anyone who is active & loves to explore.
Not much in the way of wildlife, but plenty of beaches.

Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Moscow, a City Like No Other

Moscow is Russia’s largest city with a population of between 12 and 13 million. It is also Europe’s largest city and when you visit Moscow, you can feel it. The layout and architecture of the city is eclectic, ranging from crooked, ancient streets and alleyways to wide, bustling boulevards, from medieval churches to Stalin skyscrapers and to modern, glass buildings towering over everything and of course in the center of it all is the Kremlin and the magnificent Red Square. Moscow is also home to a fantastic, efficient and very beautiful metro system – each station having its own special design. In fact, Express to Russia’s Moscow metro tours and excursions are some of our most popular attractions that we offer. On our Moscow tours, you will see this and more.

Moscow Tours centering on Russian History

Moscow has a long and interesting history and has been the capital of Russia in many of its different iterations – capital of the Grand Duchy of Moscow , the Russian Empire and of course the Soviet Union (who could ever forget the Soviet Union?). Moscow, was founded in the 12th century by Prince Yuri Dolgaruki (Yuri of the long arms – he really did have long arms!). From that time on, it was home to the Russian Tsars until Peter the Great moved the capital to St. Petersburg in 1703. The city has survived invasions and sieges from the Mongols, the Tartars, the Poles, Lithuanians and Napoleon but has always persevered. Our Moscow tours will enlighten you on this great history and give you insights into Muscovites and their unique culture. Our Moscow tours show you what the city is like today but also brings to life the past. Moscow never seems to sleep and is bursting with energy. A Moscow tour with Express to Russia is truly the best way of getting to know Russia’s largest and most vibrant city.

Frequently Asked Questions From Our Travelers

What is the best time to visit moscow.

Any time of year is fine depending on what you plan to do. Summertime is pleasantly warm, ideal for exploring the city and its vibrant atmosphere, but Moscow will be much busier and accommodation is more expensive. Winter can be quite cold but beautiful nonetheless, and this is unproblematic if you intend to spend most of your trip in museums and galleries. There are also various festivals and events organised throughout the year. For more information about the best time to visit, read our guide

How many days are enough in Moscow?

If you plan your itinerary strategically and aren’t averse to a packed schedule, you can cover Moscow’s main sights over a long weekend. Most popular attractions are in the city centre, and the Moscow Metro allows you to cover much ground in a small amount of time. Ensure that your accommodation is fairly central and book tickets in advance, so that you can make the most of your days. For an informative and well-organised day out, check out our Moscow day tours with options to suit all interests.

Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you. Moscow: City Sightseeing by Car/Bus

Visiting a new city is akin to going on a first date, it is something you will never forget. Many people imagine Moscow as just a bunch of sporadic landmarks: Red Square, the Kremlin, Lenin’s Mausoleum and GUM. There is so much more to this wonderful city than that and even though we only have a few hours, we will do all we can to show you everything we know and love about our capital in one fell swoop. We will take you on a journey through the ages, from centuries ago, right up to the modern day, soaking in the sights of this vast and bustling metropolis. Bright, luxurious and both ancient and modern at the same time, Moscow invites you on a date you’ll never forget!

On our sightseeing bus tour of the city, you will see:

  • The wonderfully historic city centre and its unique museums, magnificent cathedrals, the exquisite Chambers of the Romanov Boyars and of course, the famous towering red brick walls of the Kremlin, The charming beauty of the Alexander Garden awaits the capital's guests - a lush green oasis in the midst of the glass and concrete clad metropolis, basking in the etherial aura emanating from the whitewashed stone walls of the restored Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, the world- renowned fairytale onion domes of St. Basil's Cathedral and other impressive monumental buildings such as the library built in Lenin's honour - the Russian State Library - and the State Duma.
  • The Lubyanka KGB headquarters is notorious to members of older generations and although nowadays, the face of the secret police has changed dramatically, the looming enigmatic building on the waterfront maintains its aura of mystery, shrouded in a variety of murky rumours and dark myths. Then, there’s another of Moscow's main attractions - the marvellous Bolshoi Theatre, yew simply cant leave Moscow without taking in its breathtaking architecture. Engrained in the fabric of Russia's cultural heritage, virtuoso performers such as prima ballerina Galina Ulanova, opera singer Feodor Chaliapin and pianist, composer and conductor Sergei Rachmaninoff once stood centre stage of this vaunted institution.
  • The memorial complex on Poklonnaya Hill was constructed in the glory and honour of our heroes who defended our nation in the many crucial battles of the Great Patriotic War (WWII). This is a place that embodies a particularly acute and inextricable link between older ancf younger generations. Moving on to the Moscow International Business Centre, not dubbed ‘Moscow City' for nothing, a true glimpse of the future in the present. This incredible, rather jaw-dropping project in the capital has shown that Moscow has come to accept the age of the skyscraper. Finally, the stunning views from the observation deck at Sparrow Hills will leave professional and amateur photographers alike itching to capture them. How could one resist?

Tour Itinerary

With the 1000-year history, Russia has had a rich portfolio of conflicts, battles, wars. On this Soviet tour, we'll talk about various wars that happened in Russia, focusing on WWII.

Mother Russia has undergone a lot in its long life. Since ancient times, Russian rulers have taken nearly all political power into their own hands. By the beginning of the 20th century, the Russian oppositional movement was deadly set for the total destruction of the ever-lasting tsarist regime. All of Russia got involved in the bloody revolution of 1917 in an effort to abolish the current state of the government and gain freedom for the ordinary people.

You will learn about the every-day life of the Soviet people during the bloody Second World War with the Nazis, including the legendary Battle for Moscow, the 900-day siege of Leningrad, the hardships that local citizens went through, the consequences of the war and the scars it left on the Soviet people, as well as why the Cold War happened and what was the fundamental reason.

Our mission on the Soviet Russia tour is to find out

  • - How much this 1917 revolution cost the people;
  • - Whether they actually got the freedom they wanted and was it worth it;
  • - What happened over the next 74 years;
  • - Who were the main political communist leaders of the Soviet Union;
  • - Were Russians happy and satisfied with the Soviet Union?

Our tour itinerary will lie in most Soviet areas of Moscow, which are quite spread throughout the city, as very few of them are left. You can choose how much you are ready to live this Soviet life on a 5, 7 or 10-hour tour. Depending on the duration of the tour, you will see part or all of the places below:

If you want to extend the tour, you are welcome to do so by paying $20/extra hour in cash on the tour.

Time stands still in Red Square. The Red Square is the heart of Moscow (and whole Russia). Saint Basil's Cathedral will make your mouth drop. If it is from May-October, have a cocktail on the outside terrace and simply people watch! The massive square offers so much to enjoy.

Lenin's Mausoleum

The burial place of one of the most influential communist leaders in the world.

Revolution Square Metro Station

Rub the Soviet dog's nose for good luck and admire the 76 bronze sculptures, devoted to the passionate, strong-willed and patriotic Soviet people.

Poklonnaya Hill

The highest point in Moscow, where Napoleon waited for keys of the city.

All-Russian Exhibition Center (VVC)

With its giant arch, amazing fountain, and huge pavilions of different Soviet Republics.

Victory Park Metro Station

The deepest undeground station in Moscow and one of the deepest in the world.

Victory Park

For an open-air museum as big as 135 ha (1 350 000 square meters), Victory park sure doens't lack diversity. The park is dedicated to the Russian victory in WWII, and was laid out in 1995 in commemoration of 50-year anniversary of victory.

Stalin had planned for its construction already in 1941, being sure of victory from the very start of the war.

Greeting Hill

The highest points in Moscow (172 meters), where Napoleon waited for keys of Moscow in vain.

Triumphal Arch

Stunning monument consisting of 12 cast-iron columns, each 12 meters high, and weighing 16 tons. Built to mark Russia's victory over Napoleon in 1812.

Museum of the Great Patriotic War

In the city that is as much about wars as it is about victories, there is one essential stopover - the Museum of the Great Patriotic War (that's what WWII is called in Russia). Must-do for those wishing to understand Russia's past and look at the whole war from the different perspective - Russian.

The museum is not for the faint-hearted. Here you can see films about the partisan experience, the scenes that will haunt you forever (no subtitles, but they are not necessary).

Museum of Contemporary History (from outside only)

We'll have a glance at Russian life of the XX century in the  Museum of Contemporary History , which houses bits of everything from Russian history of XXth century: from English club to a storage of Stalin's presents.

Memorial to the Holocaust,

devastating and breath-taking!

Unleash your inner spy. Highly recommended  Bunker-42 ,  Cold War Museum , explore the place where Khrushchev lived during the Cuban Crisis. Go down 18 floors to a gigantic bunker under Moscow that was designed to withstand a nuclear attack. Watch a short film about the severity of the Cold War. If you lived through the Cold War, you will hardly believe it is possible that you are in Bunker 42!

Wander through  Sparrow Hills  and climb up to the highest observation deck of Moscow with stunning views of all seven Stalin’s skyscrapers, including  Moscow State University . After that, experience the excitement of taking a  river cruise  on the Moscow river and catch the views of the Kremlin and Soviet times.
