we are travelling to vitenam via cruise ship with 3 consecutive stops. Halong Bay over night, Chan May and Phu My. we will be getting off the ship 4 times. do we need a 1 month multiple entry or 1 month single entry visa. (traveling as Irish)
If you do not visit other countries during your stay in Vietnam, you will only need a single entry visa. However, we also advise that you contact your cruise operator for further information.
What address do I put if on a cruise and Vietnam is one of the stops?
You can use the port name and city of the port as your address for staying in Vietnam.
Hi , I applied for an evisa for myself and my 2 daughters and submitted everything, however I have been denied as they said I never stated where I was residing during my stay . But in my application I did state where I was staying. So what should I do ?
We believe you missed the address information, which is why your e-visa application was declined. You can update your existing e-visa application information or contact the Immigration office for assistance.
I have an Irish passport but live in the UK do I need a visa ?
@Pauline Doughty, We are afraid that Irish passport holders still require a valid visa to visit Vietnam no matter where you are residing (Ireland or UK).
We are travelling to Vietnam on 15th oh January 2024 until 8th February 2024. We might leave for Seoul South Korea for just two days in the middle of the holiday for work. Does this complicate the Visa process please? Also my wife’s passport expires currently 18/08/24, is this a problem for our trip to Vietnam and should we renew now please? Thank you :)
@Nick O'Keeffe,
1 - You can apply for a 1 month multiple entry to cover all your entries into Vietnam, one from Ireland and one from Seoul back.
2 - There is no problem with your passport; you can enter Vietnam using your current passport that is valid until 18/08/24. However, be sure to leave Vietnam well before your passport's expiry date, ideally at least 1-2 months prior.
Planning to fly to Hanoi in December for 16 nights in Vietnam, departing from Ho Chi Minh. An overnight cruise on Halong bay is part of our itinerary. Will a single or multiple entry visa apply in this instance?
@Anne-Marie, You will only need a single entry in this case because no different visa is required for a cruise trip in Halong bay.

Hi, I am planning to travel to Vietnam in October and I am an Irish passport holder. Does the 45 day exemption also apply to Irish passport holders? It does not seem to be listed but the UK is!
@Susan Price, We are afraid that the list of countries eligible for 45-day visa exemption has not been confirmed or released yet, so we are not sure if Irish passports are exempt from visas for Vietnam in the coming months.

Is it not possible to get a via on arrival for 3 months anymore? I want to spend a total of 2 months in Vietnam and would prefer not to have to do a visa run.
