voyage to atlantis by the isley brothers

I feel this song is about a troubled relationship where both individuals have thought about taking separate paths.  They are not sure if they can go on without each other.  They decide to start love anew. It’s an old love that is now a new love incorporating the changes that both individuals have undergone. That’s what it means to me.

this song is about leaving a lover that you later miss

....Just beautiful!

Ernie Isley is one of the best Guitarist ever.

I love this song musically. Lyeically, not so much. I'vw read interpretations where this song is saying that when a person dies, you can never see them again. If this is what the song is saying, then I have to say this song is a real downer. I hope 2 things: 1) that this is not what the lyrics mean and 2) that interpretation is wrong.

If the interpretation is right, then I hope to find this song as a karaoke track. I simply will not be able to listen to the original w/o crying.

I think this is song about loving someone and losing her/him to death.

Can I go on my way without you / where would I go? When your love one is dying, these are the questions you think.

Set sail with me Misty lady, set my spirit free New love to find And though I leave another behind

This is positive thinking, that youll think/hope that you see your love one again in afterlife. Setting sails is going together to eternity, setting spirit free is that relief when you are back with your love. New love to find, thought leave another behind is finding that love is still there, not gone.

Repeating I will always come back to you, is telling yourself that you will see again, even if she/he dies. It helps to ease the pain.

She's my lady, now and ever...how can I know Can we go all the way together? ...let it be so

You still have a little doubt will you see her/him again in afterlife, but then you choose to believe it.... let it be so. It ease your mind, its easier to accept the death.

So we'll say our last goodbye And we'll make it this time Hey...ho...set sail with me To a paradise out beyond the sea

Now she/he is dead. It is easier to let go, when you are sure that youll see again later. When you see him/her last time alive, you are saying him/her that be waiting for me, Im coming later. Set sails = be ready.

Atlantis (Is back to you) I'll always (Come back to you) This I think is that you have mixed feelings, you're thinking that you'll be back to her/him, but in another hand you realize that isn't really true, because Atlantis is a myth.

This is song about eternal love.

This song brings out a mans unconditional love for a woman.. although he feels as if he could possibly see himself without this woman but says in the same statement how far would he go...(such a journey right) we as humans tend to go through a battle with ourselves and our significant others to a point in seems like a voyage to no where .. as he say so “we’ ll say our last goodbye”.. but overall in due time they get back together because as he states I’ll always come back to you !

I think they are talking about a place. Leaving there looking for new adventures, but will always return because that's home
