Star Trek: Voyager was a series with a great premise and stories that somewhat frequently — but not always — lived up to it.

25 years ago today, Voyager premiered with the two-hour pilot "Caretaker" and forever changed the franchise with its introduction to the first female Captain, Kathyrn Janeway (a perfect Kate Mulgrew). Resilient, Janeway was unyielding in her efforts to get her untested crew home after they were zapped to the uncharted Delta Quadrant, 75 years away from Earth. Starfleet personnel mixing with former officers/current members of a resistance group known as the Maquis promised great, "only-on- Star-Trek " conflict — coupled with a ship stranded from the usual resources and aid afforded Kirk and Picard’s Enterprises.

Sadly, Voyager never fully embraced the full potential of that core conceit, leading Voyager to spend a big chunk of its seven-season run feeling like " Star Trek: The Next Generation lite." The ship was usually always fixed the next week if the previous one had it under attack or badly damaged. And the crew seemingly didn't mind too much about taking detours to explore and map this unknown area of space instead of doing what normal humans would — less sightseeing, more getting this 75-year journey underway as soon as possible and without distraction.

Despite Voyager 's uneven feel, when the show hit its stride, it produced some of the most entertaining hours the genre has ever seen. To celebrate Voyager 's 25th anniversary, here are the 15 best episodes.

15 . “Caretaker” (Season 1)

Voyager 's feature-length series premiere is one of the strongest pilots ever for a Trek show. Starting off at Deep Space Nine before stranding Captain Janeway and her motley crew of Maquis deserters in the Delta Quadrant, "Caretaker" has a riveting first half, peppered with exceptional character interplay. Then the pacing and tension slow in the second hour where we spend way too much time with an alien race that seems to have modeled itself after the citizens of Mayberry and The Waltons.

14 . "Eye of the Needle" (Season 1)

"Eye of the Needle" has a bittersweet twist that ranks up there with some of the best Twilight Zone endings. With the help of an anomaly via a wormhole, Voyager is able to communicate with a ship in the Alpha Quadrant. The catch? It's a Romulan vessel and not one in the same time as our lost heroes.

13 . "Dreadnaught" (Season 2)

If Speed and Runaway Train had a kid, it would be "Dreadnaught."

This compelling and tense hour of Voyager centers on engineer — the Klingon-Human Torres — struggling to reprogram a deadly missile designed by her enemy, the Cardassians, before it destroys a planet. Most of the hour is just Torres in a room, talking to a computer, and it is some of the most harrowing scenes in all of Trek history.

12 . "Mortal Coil" (Season 4)

Neelix, as a character, struggled to find solid footing among the ensemble jockeying for meaty storylines. But "Mortal Coil" remedies that with a dark, brooding storyline that takes on the afterlife and Neelix's near-death experience with it. After realizing the afterlife his culture believes in isn't really there, our favorite Talaxian suffers a heartbreaking existential crisis.

11 . "Tinker, Tailor, Doctor, Spy" (Season 6)

Veteran Star Trek: The Next Generation writer Joe Menosky — with a story from cartoonist Bill Vallely — crafted one of The Doctor's funniest outings, as the sentient hologram struggles with the hilarious consequences of giving himself the ability to daydream. The good doctor's fantasies catch the attention of an alien race's surveillance, but they think they are real — which brings about some trouble for the crew. How the Doctor saves the day is one of the best scenes Voyager has ever done.

10 . "Blink of an Eye" (Season 6) / "Relativity" (Season 5)

"Blink of an Eye" has a perfect Trek premise — Voyager orbits a planet where time passes differently for its inhabitants that for the ship's crew, so Janeway is able to watch this society evolve in, well, a blink of an eye.

This first contact scenario allows the show to invest the "explore strange new worlds" mandate with more emotion and nuance than Voyager usually affords its stories, giving fans a surprisingly poignant episode that still holds up to this day.

And despite time travel being a popular narrative trope in Star Trek , the show never failed to find new ways to explore and subvert it. "Relativity" is a fun, ticking-clock caper that sends former Borg drone Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) back in time to prevent the destruction of Voyager. Co-written by Discovery co-creator Bryan Fuller, this exciting episode keeps you at the edge of your couch cushion with an impressive act four twist.

09 . "The Equinox, Parts I & II" (Seasons 5 & 6)

In a plot worthy of a Star Trek movie, Janeway and her crew encounter another starship stuck in the Delta Quadrant, The Equinox. Commanded by a battle-hardened, Ahab-like figure, Captain Ransom (John Savage), The Equinox plots to hijack Voyager and strand her crew aboard their dying ship — in order to escape a race of subspace aliens that have been plaguing them.

Part of the fun of this excellent two-parter is never really knowing for most of its run time where the plot is going to go — for a moment, we actually think Janeway will lose this one.

08 . "Deadlock" (Season 2)

"Deadlock" is one of the few bright spots from Voyager 's bumpy early days. While the episode could take place on any of Trek 's ship-based shows, the stakes feel higher and for Janeway and her crew as they must work with those belonging to an alternate version of Voyager to get out of trouble.

When our Voyager — Voyager Prime — becomes fatally disabled, Janeway volunteers to sacrifice her ship so the other Voyager can go on. How Janeway handles the idea of this sacrifice results in the Ensign Harry Kim (Garret Wang) the show started with being replaced by his doppelganger.

07 . "Scorpion, Parts I & II" (Seasons 3 & 4)

"Scorpion" is action-packed Season 3 finale/Season 4 premiere that kicks off with a hell of a hook for a teaser: A small fleet of Borg cubes easily destroyed by an offscreen threat.

That threat is revealed to be Species 8472, a long-standing rival of the Borg in this quadrant of space — the only thing the Borg are afraid of. Enter Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan), a Borg attache who becomes a remember of Janeway's crew as Voyager teams up with the enemy of their enemy to both defeat the Borg and shave some time off their trip home.

"Scorpion" represents a turning point for the series and for the franchise, with the introduction of the instantly-iconic Seven — another member of Trek’s deep bench of alien characters struggling to learn what it takes to be human. Or, in Seven's case, rediscover her humanity.

06 . "Counterpoint" (Season 5)

"Counterpoint" (Kate Mulgrew's favorite episode) is arguably Voyager 's most underrated episode, with a storyline whose elevator pitch could be "The Diary of Anne Frank" in space.

Voyager is secretly providing safe harbor to a group of telepaths being hunted by an alien race that hates them. (So, basically, Space Nazis). When the latter's charming leader defects to Voyager, and sparks a relationship with Janeway, it's instantly fraught with suspicion that boils over into bittersweet betrayal. The hour is an acting showcase for Mulgrew, as she pushes Janeway to uneasy places with the hard choices only this captain can make — and learn to live with.

05 . "Latent Image" (Season 5)

The most successful medical storylines on Star Trek are those that tap into moral/ethical dilemmas with a tech twist. In "Latent Image," the Doctor finds himself caught in the middle of both as he and Seven work to uncover who appears to have tampered with his memory — and why.

What starts as a whodunit becomes a powerful drama dealing with consent and the rights afforded all lifeforms — including artificial ones like the Doctor — when he discovers that Janeway altered his program against his will. Why? Because the doctor was confronted with a hard choice that broke him: With two patients' lives on the line, and only enough time to save one of them, the Doctor chose to save his friend.

04 . "Hope and Fear" (Season 4)

A rare non-two parter season finale, "Hope and Fear" is a landmark episode in the Janeway-Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) dynamic that puts the two at odds — only to come together in the end — in ways that echo Kirk and Spock.

When a sketchy alien (Ray Wise) shows up with the promise of getting Voyager home with the help of an all-too-convenient new starship, everyone fantasizes about the pros and cons of their long journey coming to an end. But the alien's plan is revealed to be a long con — he is a Borg attack survivor seeking revenge on Voyager, specifically Seven.

After he suffers a fitting but tragic end, "Hope and Fear" wraps up with a crew overcoming the letdown of still being stuck lightyears from home by focusing on a renewed purpose to keep going.

03 . "Message In a Bottle" (Season 4)

This fast-paced mix of action and comedy is a solid two-hander between Voyager’s EMH and a more advanced version (Andy Dick) aboard a sophisticated new starship that’s been hijacked (naturally) by Romulans. The two unlikely heroes are Voyager's only hope as they must use the ship's unique ability to separate into three different sections to defeat the bad guys.

Star Trek is hit and miss when it comes to comedy, but "Message In a Bottle" finds a near-perfect balance between laughs and sci-fi action while providing further proof that actor Robert Picardo is the series' MVP.

02 . "Timeless" (Season 5)

Voyager 's 100th episode is one of the greatest ever produced on any Star Trek series. "Timeless" opens in a future where Voyager crashed on an ice planet while on its way home, and centers on Ensign Harry Kim's efforts to save his crew in a very "timey wimey" fashion. (Captain Geordi La Forge, played by LeVar Burton — who directed the episode — stands in the good Ensign’s way).

With "Timeless," showrunner and writer Brannon Braga set out to do for Voyager what "The City on the Edge of Forever" did for the classic Original Series . A high bar this entertaining, high-concept hour effortlessly reaches.

01 . "Year of Hell," Parts I & II (Season 4)

Voyager achieved feature film-level quality with this epic two-parter.

Janeway and crew struggle to defeat time-manipulating genocidal villain (a perfect Kurtwood Smith) as he risks breaking the laws of physics — and chipping away our heroes' starship with battle damage — all so he can get back to his lost wife. To right that wrong, and alter the timeline by doing so, he and his time ship destroy an entire civilization. With some of the best space battles in the franchise's history, coupled with the moral and ethical dramas only Star Trek can do, "Year of Hell" is an all-timer.

Star Trek: Voyager - Episode Guide - Season 7

Aside from the clear awareness on the part of the Star Trek: Voyager production team, what’s markedly different about season 7? The special effects, easily better and more gorgeous than any Star Trek iteration going into Discovery. Check out Voyager trawling the remnants of a destroyed Borg cube in “Imperfection” or nearly any exterior in “Inside Man” – here Voyager signals that this show has brought the franchise a long way from The Original Series.

The strengths of Voyager season 7 are hardly limited to looks, however. Despite a last-ditch attempt to foster an interpersonal relationship between Seven and Chakotay that features the least chemistry of any Star Trek couple since... well, since Neelix and Kes, really.

1. Unimatrix Zero, Part II – Apparently, Janeway, B’Elanna and Tuvok are able to stay cool and individual despite apparent assimilation because of magic drugs – until, oddly, Tuvok loses it temporarily. Naturally, everything else goes swimmingly accord to plan and dreams may somehow defeat the wussified Borg. **

2. Imperfection – Seven’s cortical implant begins to break down, thereby triggering a quick demise for the former drone. Until a possible donor steps forth… ***

3. Drive – In a very exciting and sadly underdeveloped idea, Paris gets wind of a local starcraft race and enters the Delta Flyer. With the buildup within the episode about as palpable as that within the show, how come this script doesn’t get to the race more quickly and why didn’t the director show us more? ***

4. Repression – A few Maquis Red Shirts are killed or apparently assaulted. Chakotay likewise goes into a coma (or so we’re told; sometimes it’s very difficult to tell). Tuvok and the Doctor take excruciatingly long to figure out what’s going on. **

5. Critical Care – The EMH as anarchist: A scammer steals Voyager’s EMH and sells him to a nearby hospital on an alien world which some twisted economic beliefs Satire, suspense, hospital-based drama, lots of Robert Picardo... what more do you want? ****

6. Inside Man – If you have managed to heretofore avoid synopses of this episode and are thus blissfully spoiler-free, you’ll dig on this one all the more. Here’s what we can tell you: A hologram of the indomitable Reg Barclay is transmitted to Voyager; the Barclay hologram is to help modify Voyager (with the latest in Starfleet™ technology!) so as to immediately get the ship back into the Delta Quadrant. Seven quickly becomes suspicious of the proposed technology involved in Reg’s plan; the twists and intriguing reveals snowball thereafter. ****

7. Body and Soul – On an away mission, Harry Kim, Seven and the Doctor are captured (imagine that), and the Doctor takes refuge “inside” Seven’s circuitry, thereby triggering the Brain Uploading trope . And for much of the episode, Jeri Ryan just kills it as EMH-inhabiting-Seven – very funny stuff. ****

8. Nightingale – Kim comes to the aid of a ship whose entire command crew has been wiped out; naturally all is Not As It Seems. The plot twists here are not quite enough to detract from the very predictable “Captain Kim” storyline. Plus, Neelix gets annoyingly shoehorned in here at an even greater level of toxicity than usual. ***

9-10. Flesh and Blood, Parts I and II – The Hirogen’s use of hologram technology has resulted in holographic prey capable of turning the tables on the hunters. The Doctor sympathizes with their plight and assists on their mission to find a new world to colonize, while Janeway must deal with the consequences of (let’s face it) another shaky decision. An okay story is well too stretched, and is anyone really buying the Doctor leaving Voyager? Also, what is up with B’Elanna’s continued racism (speciesism?) toward *holographic* Cardassians? ***

11. Shattered – Head trip for Chakotay … or it would be, if this character had the depth to freak out. Instead, when he finds himself in different time periods as he moves about Voyager, it’s an easily sussed non-problem. Interesting enough stuff for a bit of a “greatest hits” episode, and the pseudo-dream team earlier Janeway and current Chakotay assemble is fun. ****

12. Lineage – After this episode, can we finally acknowledge the dangerous stupidity that is B’Elanna Torres’s self-loathing? After finding out that she is pregnant, B’Elanna becomes obsessed with eradicating all traces of Klingon DNA from her unborn daughter. And just to prove this goes well beyond hormonal imbalance due to pregnancy, she psychotically reprograms the EMH to agree with her genetic manipulation plan. All this goes back to an ostensible childhood trauma that, while sad, hardly justifies the sudden wrought plea of victimization. Awful, just awful. 0

13. Repentance – A group of guards and prisoners are rescued from a crippled prison ship and are subsequently uneasily housed on Voyager. And then the Doctor discovers that at least one may be cured of his psychotic tendencies… ***

14. Prophecy – O, those kooky Klingons! Voyager happens upon a Klingon cruiser that has traveled for 70 years on a mission to find an afore-destined spiritual leader and/or a new homeworld. When said Klingons discover the presence of B’Elanna – a pregnant B’Elanna, no less – aboard Voyager, well, that’s clearly a sign and/or omen, right? ***

15. The Void – As in “Night,” Voyager enters an apparently boundless void. Unlike that other classic Voyager-in-emptiness story, however, Neelix does not lose his marbles, nor does Janeway get all pouty/depressed. Instead, Janeway manages to band together with various other ships who’ve also been sucked into the void. A decently paced story that defies its Beckettesque surroundings. ***

16. Workforce, Part I – Head trip for the audience: The WTFs come early and often, as Janeway, Tuvok, Paris, B’Elanna and Seven all occupy jobs in a blue-collar manufacturing district. Meanwhile, Chakotay, Kim and Neelix returned to find an empty ship piloted by the Emergency Command Hologram. (Yes!) ***

17. Workforce, Part II – Chakotay and Neelix pose as (un-brainwashed) workers to infiltrate the plant floor, and ultimately the fairly easily guessable antagonist’s motivation is revealed. (Sudden thoughts: When the entire Voyager crew was rounded up, did they get Naomi Wildman, too? Did they put her to work as well? Come to think of it, where the hell has Miss Wildman been for the past 1½ seasons, anyway?) ***

18. Human Error – What does Seven do on the Holodeck? Incredibly, she imagines everyday scenarios with crew members. Unfortunately, a dinner date with holographic Chakotay almost kills her. Also, Icheb comes around to drop a few quotes from classic thinkers. **

19. Q2 – Remember when Q wanted to, likesay, get with janeway to perpetuate the species and/or create a new leader for the Continuum? Well, the son he later had with another Q is her approximated as a human teen. Naturally, Q is all to willing to ditch junior with Janeway and the crew. Though the lad’s treachery is predictable, the plot machinations thereafter keep things interesting. And a decent enough sendoff for Q. ***

20. Author, Author – Yet another clever use of the holodeck by the Voyager folks which unfortunately shifts into an inexplicable “Measure of a Man” redux with the Doctor in the Data role and Tuvok serving as Picard. **** for the first half featuring the Doctor’s purple “prose” and Paris’s ingenious response; ** for the unsatisfying legal argument that’s founded in the Doctor suddenly acting oppressed and bitchy. Overall, then it’s a ***.

21. Friendship One – Tracking a 21st-century unmanned craft now in the Delta Quadrant leaders Voyager to a planet whose citizens blame Earth for their own destructive folly. ***

22. Natural Law – Chakotay and Seven crash land a shuttle (imagine that) nearby a group of Stone Age people. In the much more watchable subplot, Paris is busted for an orbital traffic violation in the Delta Flyer and is given a penalty of mandatory piloting lessons. Again, a split rating gets this episode a ***.

23. Homestead – Neelix departs Voyager about 168 episodes too late when a colony of Talaxians is found, and he decides to stay on with his compatriots. And o, hey, Naomi Wildman sighting! ***

24. Renaissance Man – Another straightforward, fast-moving script as aliens manipulate the Doctor into posing as various members of the crew as a means to stealing Voyager’s warp core technology. ***

25-26. Endgame – Like the great majority of the Star Trek: Voyager series throughout its run, the ending of it all is so very muted, the stakes set lower and the victory smaller. Set some 10 years after Voyager’s return to Earth, 33 years after its diverted maiden voyage, Admiral Janeway conceives of a way to change the past and return the ship home 26 years more quickly (and also nullify Noami Wildman’s daughter’s existence, apparently). At least we get a penultimate dalliance with the Borg – and resolution, rushed though it is. ***

The LZ10 and LZ8 are perfect for consumers who expect a digital camera that blends power, performance and quality, helping them to maximize the digital photography experience. The LZ-Series’ lenses were developed by Panasonic, passing Leica’s stringent standards to deliver an exceptional optical performance for Panasonic LUMIX consumers. With the LZ10’s 30mm wide-angle lens and the LZ8’s 32mm wide-angle lens consumers can capture larger group photos or more expansive scenic shots.

Also new to the LZ-Series is Advanced Scene Mode – a feature that gives consumers manual control using some of the frequently-used scene modes: Portrait, Sports, Landscape and Night portrait.

While in Advanced Scene Mode, when selecting the Portrait or Sports mode, the consumer is then presented with additional settings, with the option of choosing outdoor or indoor. When selecting Landscape mode, there are options to specify if the shot is nature or architecture. For budding photographers who desire even more artistic freedom, they can choose Creative mode, which adds more manual controls over an aperture or a shutter speed.

For consumers not quite ready for complete manual control, the LZ-Series also features Panasonic’s Intelligent Auto Mode, which is comprised of five distinct technologies designed to provide users with intuitive and automatic camera adjustments, regardless of the shooting condition and without the user having to do anything manually. The LZ10, with 10.1 megapixels, and the LZ8, with 8.1 megapixels, both feature Intelligent Auto Mode, consisting of the following features:

• MEGA O.I.S. – Gyrosensors detect hand-shake and the lens system shifts to compensate, helping to prevent hand-shake from creating a blurry image.
• Intelligent ISO – Can determine if the photo subject is moving and change the ISO setting and shutter speed accordingly, thus giving a blur-free photo.
• Intelligent Scene Selector – Senses the ambient conditions, recognizes the shooting environment and will automatically select the appropriate scene mode from: Scenery, Portrait, Macro, Night Portrait or Night Scenery mode.
• Face Detection – Panasonic’s Face Detection detects up to 15 faces anywhere in the frame, even if they are moving, and automatically chooses the optimal focus and exposure settings so portraits come out clear and crisp.
• Quick AF – The Quick AF (auto focus) system starts focus on the subject by just pointing the camera to the subject, thus minimizing the AF time.

Each camera also features new 230,000-dot high-resolution LCDs, complete with the new Intelligent LCD, meaning the 2.5-inch LCD screens detect the lighting condition and controls the brightness level to offer optimal clarity in any situation, whether dark or light; indoors or outdoors. The cameras also include the popular High Angle mode which makes the LCD screen easy to view when held high, to shoot over a crowd or a tall object.

Additional highlights of the Panasonic LUMIX LZ-Series include:

• Newly added speaker lets consumer enjoy a slide show with music, selecting from natural, slow, urban or swing tunes; or add voice to a motion video.
• Title Edit function which allows the consumer to input text to accompany a photo, for instance, the names of children or travel locations.
• Ability to record WVGA (848 x 480) motion images at 30 frames per second in a 16:9 aspect ratio, ideal for viewing on High Definition televisions, such as Panasonic VIERA Plasmas and LCDs.
• The ability to shoot 1920×1080 pixel High-Definition ready photos, ideal for wide-screen viewing on a 16:9 VIERA Plasma or LCD.
• The DMC-LZ10 can shoot up to 160 images and DMC-LZ8 shoots 180 images with the included Alkaline batteries and 460(LZ10) /470(LZ8) images with optional Ni-MH rechargeable batteries (2600mAh)*.
• A record/playback mode switch, which lets the photographer switch between recording and playback modes, while always knowing the current mode

The DMC-LZ10 and the DMC-LZ8 will be available in black and silver models in February for a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $249.95 and $179.95 respectively.

In June 2008, Dmitri Hvorostovsky invited Sondra Radvanovsky to be his guest star in the prestigious Moscow concert series ‘Hvorostovsky and Friends,’ with conductor Constantine Orbelian and the Philharmonia of Russia. This glamorous occasion, captured on film for Russian television, marked these artists’ first-ever musical collaboration – and proved to be a historic event that documented for posterity one of those all-too-rare instances of magical artistic alchemy between two great opera stars. Their electrifying performance was an instant sensation, and a potent preview of the two stars’ effusively acclaimed later appearances together in Il Trovatore at Covent Garden, The Met and The San Francisco Opera.

Delos recorded the live concert, to be released later as the critically-acclaimed CD, ‘Verdi Opera Scenes’. The Russian TV show, featuring their national baritone hero and his dazzling guest, was broadcast throughout the Russian Federation. Upon obtaining that film footage, Delos collaborated with California film editor Steve Scoville, who expertly synched the footage with Delos’s concert audio. The result, available for the first time on this DVD, takes the viewer/listener to Moscow’s Great Hall for the concert’s most unforgettable moments, with stunning ‘you are there’ sonic and visual impact. For the first time Rosatom Fuel Division supplied fresh nuclear fuel to the world’s only floating nuclear cogeneration plant in the Arctic

The fuel was supplied to the northernmost town of Russia along the Northern Sea Route.

The first in the history of the power plant refueling, that is, the replacement of spent nuclear fuel with fresh one, is planned to begin before 2024. The manufacturer of nuclear fuel for all Russian nuclear icebreakers, as well as the Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, is Machinery Manufacturing Plant, Joint-Stock Company (MSZ JSC), a company of Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL that is based in Elektrostal, Moscow Region.

The FNPP includes two KLT-40S reactors of the icebreaking type. Unlike convenient ground-based large reactors (that require partial replacement of fuel rods once every 12-18 months), in the case of these reactors, the refueling takes place once every few years and includes unloading of the entire reactor core and loading of fresh fuel into the reactor.

The cores of KLT-40 reactors of the Akademik Lomonosov floating power unit have a number of advantages compared to the reference ones: a cassette core was used for the first time in the history of the unit, which made it possible to increase the fuel energy resource to 3-3.5 years between refuelings, and also reduce the fuel component of the electricity cost by one and a half times. The FNPP operating experience formed the basis for the designs of reactors for nuclear icebreakers of the newest series 22220. Three such icebreakers have been launched by now.

For the first time the power units of the Akademik Lomonosov floating nuclear power plant were connected to the grid in December 2019, and put into commercial operation in May 2020. The supply of nuclear fuel from Elektrostal to Pevek and its loading into the second reactor is planned for 2024. The total power of the Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, supplied to the coastal grid of Pevek without thermal energy consumption on shore, is about 76 MW, being about 44 MW in the maximum thermal power supply mode. The FNPP generated 194 million kWh according to the results of 2023. The population of Pevek is just a little more than 4 thousand, while the FNPP has a potential for supplying electricity to a city with a population of up to 100 thousand people. After the FNPP commissioning two goals were achieved. These include first of all the replacement of the retiring capacities of the Bilibino NPP, which has been operating since 1974, as well as the Chaunskaya TPP, which has already been operating for more than 70 years. Secondly, energy is supplied to the main mining companies in western Chukotka in the Chaun-Bilibino energy hub a large ore and metal cluster, including gold mining companies and projects related to the development of the Baimsk ore zone. In September 2023, a 110 kilovolt power transmission line with a length of 490 kilometers was put into operation, connecting the towns of Pevek and Bilibino. The line increased the reliability of energy supply from the FNPP to both Bilibino consumers and mining companies, the largest of which is the Baimsky GOK. The comprehensive development of the Russian Arctic is a national strategic priority. To increase the NSR traffic is of paramount importance for accomplishment of the tasks set in the field of cargo shipping. This logistics corridor is being developed due regular freight voyages, construction of new nuclear-powered icebreakers and modernization of the relevant infrastructure. Rosatom companies are actively involved in this work. Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL (Rosatom Fuel Division) includes companies fabricating nuclear fuel, converting and enriching uranium, manufacturing gas centrifuges, conducting researches and producing designs. As the only nuclear fuel supplier to Russian NPPs, TVEL supplies fuel for a total of 75 power reactors in 15 countries, for research reactors in nine countries, as well as for propulsion reactors of the Russian nuclear fleet. Every sixth power reactor in the world runs on TVEL fuel. Rosatom Fuel Division is the world’s largest producer of enriched uranium and the leader on the global stable isotope market. The Fuel Division is actively developing new businesses in chemistry, metallurgy, energy storage technologies, 3D printing, digital products, and decommissioning of nuclear facilities. TVEL also includes Rosatom integrators for additive technologies and electricity storage systems. Rosenergoatom, Joint-Stock Company is part of Rosatom Electric Power Division and one of the largest companies in the industry acting as an operator of nuclear power plants. It includes, as its branches, 11 operating NPPs, including the FNPP, the Scientific and Technical Center for Emergency Operations at NPPs, Design and Engineering as well as Technological companies. In total, 37 power units with a total installed capacity of over 29.5 GW are in operation at 11 nuclear power plants in Russia. Machinery Manufacturing Plant, Joint-Stock Company (MSZ JSC, Elektrostal) is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of fuel for nuclear power plants. The company produces fuel assemblies for VVER-440, VVER-1000, RBMK-1000, BN-600,800, VK-50, EGP-6; powders and fuel pellets intended for supply to foreign customers. It also produces nuclear fuel for research reactors. The plant belongs to the TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom.
