Charlotte Wine Tours
The Queen City of North Carolina probably has almost half the wineries in the state within “ tour range “, which is somewhat unique, since there are only a handful of wineries within an hour of downtown Charlotte. When you expand that range to 90 minutes, however, the number of wineries available to visit explodes as some of the larger wine regions in the state come into range. Push that to two hours (I know, a little far but still doable) and you literally have 100+ wineries available to visit. There are also good options for both dry European wines (vinifera) as well as numerous options for sweet wines. So whatever your pallet, “Charlotte’s Got alot!”.
Charlotte has vineyard and winery tour options that go off in every direction. Whether you are on the North, South, East or West side of the city, we can find you a good “ wine trail ” that will exceed your expectations. The area has great options for multi-day tours visiting numerous different wineries, wine styles, and regions. Pair that with one of our certified wine experts as your guide ( WSET and/or the Court of Master Sommeliers ) and you could have a wine experience that will rival some of the most well known wine regions in America. Of course, you could also just have a simple tour where you go out an enjoy the wines and atmosphere at each winery. Whatever your level of interest, we can craft a tour that is perfect for you!
The Charlotte Wineries…
There are simply too many wineries available from Charlotte to list them all but we can provide a list of some of the popular areas that we visit (and maybe a specific vineyard or two):
- The Yadkin Valley – North and Northeast of Charlotte, home to 75+ wineries and North Carolina’s most popular and well known wine region.
- The Tryon Foothills – A small region West of Charlotte that has some very beautiful vineyards that you should definitely check out.
- Veronet and Davesté Vineyards – The few vineyards that are relatively close to Charlotte. We typically pair Veronet with a visit to the Tryon Foothills area vineyards and Davesté when we head north to the Yadkin Valley.
- Sweet Wines to the East – There are a number of wineries east of Charlotte that predominately have sweet wines available.
- South of the City – To the southeast are two choices (Kefi and Treehouse Vineyards) that are worth exploring.
If you are looking for an extended tour or for a longer day, you could also include the wineries in/around Hendersonville (Crest of the Blue Ridge AVA) or the wineries of the High Appalachian region . There are also a number of great urban wineries, tasting rooms, and bottle shops in and immediately around Charlotte. If you also want to include cideries and/or breweries then there are hundreds of options available.
A Typical Wine Tour…
Most wine tours from the Charlotte region are going to visit 3-4 wineries. Due to the distance to wine regions, most wine tours are going to be full day experiences (8+ hours). All of our tours are custom so we can create a trail that perfectly fits your desired timeframe, wine styles, etc. We have a 4 hour minimum on all of our tours but the day is yours and you can obviously go longer than that if needed/wanted. We will settle up with you afterwards for any time used over the initial 4 hours.
A few highlights and things to consider about a Charlotte wine tour :
- Drive time to the wine regions is usually a bit longer from Charlotte and could be as long as 90 minutes. There are a few wineries closer than this but the “regions” (where there are clusters of wineries) are going require a bit of a drive.
- There are some nice options for food at some of the wineries and we are happy to make some recommendations.
- As mentioned above, Charlotte has great options for both traditional dry wines and sweet wines.
All that is left is for you to book your Charlotte Wine Tour and enjoy the day!

We can pre-order you lunches at the Amish deli, if you need. We have helped to plan hundreds of successful NC wine tours. We fully understand the complexities of the day, and are delighted in being able to share our expertise with you! Tasting fees will be determined once the wineries are selected. We have had many tours where one or two of the guests do not want to partake in some of the tastings, therefore we do not include these fees in our pricing. Lunch can be included. The Shiloh sandwiches are $7.00 per person, and the restaurants (where available) vary in pricing. (Usually about $20 p/p) No extra fees- unless your pick-up location is outside of our usual pick-up area.

Birthday Party Limo Vineyard Tours
Seriously, you work hard! Go have a fun day with your friends in relaxed comfort and style!!!
Together we will discuss your wine tour event, your favorite types of wines, the area of North / South Carolina you will be departing from, and, generally, how you would like your day to go. (Is this a formal event, or more of a laid-back day?)
What would you like for lunch?
You are welcome to bring your own (no food is to be eaten in the limo though, please! We will be able to dine at one of the vineyards.)
We recommend the Shiloh General Store for their fantastic sandwiches. Lenora will pre-order them for your convenience. We recommend having your guests arrive at the residence of pick-up at least 45 minutes before the limousine is scheduled to arrive. Perhaps offer them a hearty breakfast to prepare them for their day! We typically pick up your group between 9:00am and 11:00am. The chauffeur usually arrives 15 minutes early to help your party load your things into the limo. Your fantastic chauffeur will then take photos of your group, if you would like. It takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes to drive to the Yadkin Valley Wineries, or to the Childress area from downtown Charlotte, NC.
The amount of time you will need depends on where in the greater Charlotte area we pick you up from, and how many people are in your group. We generally try to visit vineyards that are close to each other so your group spends more time tasting delicious wines than driving all over the place! We average 3-4 wineries per tour, depending on the number of hours you reserve. This depends also on your pick up location, the size of your group, and the NC vineyards we choose to visit. At the first stop, we will have our tasting and lunch, and then two more stops for tastings. Some groups choose to do a tour of the vineyards, some prefer the wine tastings only.
Some groups have a fast-pace, most do not.
We will be able to accommodate your group’s pace for the day by planning for both.
Thank-you for your interest in Johnny B’s Limousine Service!

Yadkin Valley Appellation – The Yadkin Valley became North Carolina’s first federally-approved American Viticultural Area (AVA) in 2003. With this appellation, the wineries and vineyards of and area cover all or part of Surry, Yadkin, Wilkes, Davie, Davidson, Forsyth and Stokes counties began labeling their wines “Yadkin Valley,” proudly proclaiming the fruits of our region. www.yadkinvalleywinecountry.com
Swan Creek Appellation – The Vineyards of Swan Creek enjoy a unique climate and soil composition conducive to the production of vinifera wine grapes. The foothills of two mighty mountain ranges – the Brushys and the Blue Ridge – kick up cooling breezes that dance down through the Swan Creek region. www.swancreekvineyards.com
Haw River Valley Appellation – The Haw River Valley is a 868-square-mile region located in Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Guilford, Orange and Rockingham counties in North Carolina. It is an agricultural area that has a long growing season, with 214 frost-free growing days, making it a great place for growing crops that need a long growing season like tobacco and red vinifera winegrapes. www.hawrivervalley.com
Charlotte Limousine does not guarantee that the wineries will allow large groups, so we recommend that you contact the wineries and inform them of the date you are planning to come with your group to make sure they do not have a special event (weddings, private events, etc.) that may prevent your visit. We also recommend that you call them to schedule any wine tastings, lunches or special needs. You can click on the link below to go to all the websites of each winery to get their contact info and calendars for peak harvest times and special event dates.
Below are a couple NC Wine Tour Transportation options that we offer. However, you DO NOT have to do one of these suggested tours. We can take your group to the Wineries of your choice! We can also help you plan a customized tour, to help you make the most of your experience. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us and we will help you through it. Ask for James or Joan who are our winery tour transportation specialist.

Wine Tours Charlotte, NC
Charlotte wine tours.
Who doesn't love wine? And in Charlotte, wine enthusiasts will find plenty of great places to visit, and more than enough to make a whole day of it! When you're planning a North Carolina wine tour, choosing which wineries to visit and which of your friends will come along, don't forget to plan the wine tour transportation! How you get to and from each destination plays a major role in your ability to fully enjoy the day! When you have a big group coming, it can be cumbersome to plan who will drive because maybe the friend that volunteers to be the designated driver only has a small vehicle, leaving you to find a handful of people who want to be the DD, meaning you all ride in separate cars - that's stressful! Instead opt for a limousine or limo bus! This way all of your friends can come on one vehicle and they can all enjoy the wine because our chauffeurs will be at the wheel! As you can see, a limo or limo bus is not only the most convenient, enjoyable, and relaxing way to travel, it's also the responsible choice!
Queen City is full of interesting activities you can do with your gang on the weekend, but you better don't miss the opportunity to take your friends on a North Carolina wine tour. This plan is perfect for families, too, because you can have a fun time together and get to taste some of North Carolina's finest wines. We will drive you to the top wineries in Queen City, or if you want to visit the ones in Yadkin Valley, we can totally do our winery tour there. Both are great options for finding good wine. In Yadkin Valley, you will see beautiful landscapes and would have the chance to visit some of the best North Carolina's wineries, like Raffaldini Vineyards and Piccione Vineyards. If you have a larger group than one of our limo buses can accommodate, there's no need to worry; we can do our wine tour in one of our charter buses. What are you waiting for? Book now one of our amazing Carolina wine tours in Yadkin Valley or Charlotte, NC!

Do we all need to be at the same pick up location?
No, you do not! We'll pick up each of your guests from their own home if necessary. Just let your driver know what the plan is!
Can we drink on the limos?

The best winery in North Carolina, according to reviews—plus, see the rest of the top 7

Highest-rated wineries in North Carolina, according to Yelp
Napa Valley isn't the only travel destination in the United States for a good glass of wine. While California's wine country is known for being a top winery destination (and also home to the award-winning bottle of chardonnay that won top honors at the Judgment of Paris competition in 1976), wine connoisseurs no longer have to travel all the way to California for a good winery experience. In fact, at this point, noteworthy wineries are available to visit in every state, if you know where to look.
As of February 2023, there are 11,691 wineries in the United States , an increase of more than 10% since 2020. A 2022 report from WineAmerica stated the wine industry generates $276 billion in total economic activity and employs over a million people.
With such a booming industry and a plethora of wineries to choose from, how does a vino-lover know if a winery is worth it? First, the location is a big reason why people choose to visit a winery; if they are tucked away next to a sprawling field of grapes for guests to explore, then the wine is likely locally sourced. The tasting experience is also key. Wineries will offer a selection of their wines by the glass, or even tastings where the customer can order smaller pours of a variety of their wines. Some wineries even offer cellar tours with glimpses into their winemaking process. Of course, the ambiance is a big draw. If it's the kind of place that makes guests want to post photos on Instagram to make their friends jealous, then that winery is probably doing something right.
So how do you know which winery to visit that includes some—if not all—of what makes a winery the best of the best? Stacker compiled a list of the highest-rated wineries in North Carolina, according to Yelp , so you know exactly where to venture when wine o'clock hits—no trip to Napa necessary. Only businesses that had at least three reviews and are categorized as wineries on Yelp were included. Therefore, it's possible some businesses are miscategorized. Businesses that did not have a photo on Yelp were also not included.
