Take the Most Beautiful Train Ride in the U.S. for $101

pacific coast railroad tour

If you want to see the best of the west coast, take a train.

Disembarking from Seattle, Washington and running all the way to Los Angeles , California, Amtrak's Coast Starlight line shows travelers the most beautiful views of the Pacific coast.

And the best part is, tickets start at only $101 for a one-way trip .

The 35-hour route covers 350 miles through Washington, Oregon and California countryside, making about 30 stops, including Santa Barbara , the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento and Portland , Oregon.

Among the many sites you'll see along the way, you can gaze upon gorgeous mountains, forests, valleys, and the Pacific Ocean during just one trip. Each train has observation cars with floor-to-ceiling windows. Passengers can also lounge in swivel chairs so they can get a wide view.

The $101 super saver option is for a one-way, single ticket. Warning for riders: If you're hoping to take a trip, you should plan several weeks in advance if you want to book multiple tickets.

At the time of writing this article, Travel + Leisure found the super saver price as early as April, and the availability was sparse, sometimes with only one ticket available on certain days.

It's also worth noting that during the long trip, the super saver option does not include a sleeping arrangement. Travelers can buy premium tickets, at premium prices, for a Superliner Roomette that comes with two fold-down beds, plus meals and a lovely private window so you don't miss a view.

But if you're just looking to sightsee and save, you can't get much better than a relaxing train ride.

To reserve tickets on Coast Starlight, travelers can visit the Amtrak website .

Yosemite tour was amazing. Choice of lodging needed to be different. Too far out of the way which caused a lot of extra driving. A hotel which was previously used would have been better. And virtually no response to questions thru the Tour Radar app. Had to take care of extra nights stays & transportation myself when the app stated that they would assist with it.

The itinerary, hikes and activities were great. The best feature of the hotel in Seattle was location. The quality of the hotels went from bad to worst. On the one we stayed the last two nights there was not even soap, we had to go and ask for it and almost beg for shampoo, they also just gave us one key for a double room, There was always a sense of improvisation and lack of communication. The guide tried his best to save the day, every day. We would arrive tired and hungry and most places were closed already. The guide on the last day went out of his way to deliver participants to their destinations, not just the airport but the train station, etc. that was greatly appreciated, his energy, enthusiasm and driving skills made of this a Good trip. There is a lot of room for improvement.

Brochures/tour information should be updated. Covid-19 requirements for example. This did not have even a single mention at the welcome reception or at any time during the tour, despite the brochure, and could have saved some luggage. Sunset cruise at San Francisco is another example where the tour information mentioned included hor d'oeuvres and two drinks, but just one drink was the reality. Tour leader could provide clearer instructions/information by stating 'left' or 'right' rather than pointing saying 'here' or 'there' when she is doing this from the driver's seat and guests at the back of the van cannot see. She was informed of this and asked, but complied only that one time. Last minute guests (not me) who joined the sunset cruise at SFO were ripped off, having to pay USD68pp even if it included a transfer to the wharf whilst the direct operator price was USD36.

Great experience. This may have been our guide's (Sassy) first official trip, but she did a great job. We all got along very well and Sassy handled some adversity with aplomb. You Can See This Gorgeous Stretch of Pacific Coast by Train for Under $100

Don't let driving detract from these views.

In fact, Amtrak claims the only vantage point that rivals its Pacific Surfliner route is from a surfboard. The coast-hugging train goes from San Diego to San Luis Obispo with in-between stops at some of Southern California's most beautiful towns. After increasing service last fall, the route now offers 11 round-trip services each day, and five between Santa Barbara and San Diego.

Transport, Mode of transport, Night, Tree, Vehicle, Metropolitan area, Reflection, Train, Public transport, Architecture,

The full stretch from SAN to SLO takes approximately 5 hours and 45 minutes, but we suggest booking multi-city stops to get the most out of your railroad adventure. Some notable Surfliner stops include San Clemente Pier, a picturesque place to watch the sun set; Anaheim (hello, Disneyland !); and Oxnard, known for its strawberry fields and strawberry festival in May. Plus, these particular trains have special bicycle racks —reservations required—giving you an excellent excuse to explore your stopover destinations by pedal.

Map, Ecoregion, Line,

Our recent search for tickets returned a fare of $61 for a straight-shot from San Diego to San Luis Obispo during the second weekend of July. With stops in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, the rate is $103.

Once in San Luis Obispo—one of the oldest cities in the state, founded in 1772—the historic Granada Hotel offers boutique accommodations within walking distance of downtown landmarks like the Elmo Theatre. The surrounding region is known for its wineries and hot springs , while the nearby fishing village of Morro Bay, 15 miles northwest, is a hotspot for wildlife (think: otters, seals, and Peregrine falcons) and year-round water sports like sailing, kayaking, and stand-up paddle boarding.

Need further proof of the Surfliner's superiority to automobile transport? Four words: bar car and wi-fi. Good luck finding a rental with those amenities!

Amtrak Starlight: 10 Things To Know About This Scenic Pacific Coastal Route

The Starlight is one of the most scenic Amtrak routes in the US. For anyone about to travel, here are essential things to know about Amtrak Starlight.

The Amtrak Coast Starlight is a breathtaking train journey that takes passengers through the glorious Pacific coast. Starting in Seattle, Washington, and ending in Los Angeles, California, this legendary train route provides an unforgettable journey through iconic West Coast cities and majestic snow-capped mountains.

This train route offers passengers comfortable, spacious seats and a leisurely way to soak in the beautiful sights of the West Coast. Still, there are a few things travelers should know before traveling with Amtrak on the Starlight train. Here are ten things passengers on the Amtrak Starlight should know about this scenic Pacific coastal route.

1 Amtrak Starlight Goes From Seattle To Los Angeles

The Amtrak Starlight route stretches from Seattle, Washington, to Los Angeles, California. The total journey from start to end takes about 35 hours, though passengers can tailor their journey depending on their travel plans.

The Amtrak Starlight serves 30 train stations, but some of the most popular destinations it passes through include Santa Barbara, the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, and Portland.

2 The Amtrak Starlight Runs Once Daily

The Amtrak Starlight runs its journey once a day. It stops at most stations for just a couple of minutes to allow departing passengers to get off and new arriving passengers to get on board. Every few hours, a longer stop is made to allow riders to get some fresh air and stretch their legs, but these stops only last about 10 to 15 minutes.

This means passengers won’t have time to explore the area and must be mindful that the train does not leave without them.

3 Starlight Is Easily The Best Amtrak Train For Views

In this day and age, one of the biggest draws to riding Amtrak is the chance to enjoy the beauty of the passing scenery. This route is one of the best vacations with Amtrak , as few train routes can compete with the mesmerizing sights offered by the legendary Amtrak Coast Starlight.

Passengers are treated to the breathtaking scenery of everything from the rugged snow-covered mountains of the Cascade Range and Mount Shasta to the sandy beaches and crashing waves along the Pacific coastline.

Passengers should try to get good seats from the observation cars to see the best views of the journey.

4 The Dining Options On The Amtrak Starlight Are Pretty Decent

Some Amtrak routes are worth traveling for the food alone, and the Amtrak Starlight is no exception. Dining on the Amtrak Starlight is a truly delightful experience, as both to-go café options and sit-down meals in the dining cart are offered. From delectable breakfast options to gourmet dinners, the menu on the dining car allows passengers to savor freshly prepared, regionally-inspired cuisine.

All passengers can access Starlight's café car, which offers meals and snacks throughout the day along with non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. Breakfast meals include traditional and simple breakfast items such as sausage and egg sandwiches, muffins, and oatmeal. Lunch options feature salads, sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, tamales, and even a warm cup of noodles. Non-alcoholic drinks include water juice, sodas, coffee, and tea and are modestly priced. Alcoholic beverages range from canned beers and hard seltzers to cocktails and wine.

On the Amtrak Starlight, traditional, sit-down meals are available in the dining car. Dining car meals offer seasonal, locally-inspired menus with three courses available for dinner. One complimentary alcoholic drink is provided at dinner, and all meals include complimentary non-alcoholic meals. Dining car menus are updated often and offer a range of options to satisfy all palates, including coconut-crusted shrimp for an appetizer, Rigatoni Bolognese for an entrée, and chocolate toffee mouse for dessert.

These meals are complimentary to passengers with private rooms, and Amtrak has slowly been working on expanding their dining car meal options to coach members for purchase . The process is ongoing and depends on availability. Additionally, all passengers are welcome to bring their own food, snacks, and drinks on Amtrak.

  • Starlight Amtrak Northbound & Southbound Dining Car Meal Schedule: Lunch (Day 1), Dinner (Day 1), Breakfast (Day 2), Lunch (Day 2), Dinner (Day 2)
  • Amtrak Café Menu Food & Snacks Price Range: $1.50 to $7.50
  • Amtrak Café Non-Alcoholic Beverage Price Range: $1.00 to $4.00
  • Amtrak Café Alcoholic Beverage Price Range : $7.50 to $14.75

5 The Onboard Amenities On Amtrak Starlight Are Good (But There's No Wi-Fi)

Amtrak Starlight offers plenty of onboard amenities. Passengers can relax in spacious seating that is far larger than most economy airplane seats. Power outlets are available to keep devices charged. That said, although many Amtrak trains offer WiFi services, the Coast Starlight does not.

The Amtrak Starlight also offers checked bike and baggage services, and for a fee, small dogs and cats can be taken on the journey, which enables passengers to enjoy a vacation with their furry loved ones.

Phone cellular reception can also be limited, especially when passing through more remote areas of the journey.

6 There Are Various Amtrak Starlight Sleeping Accommodations

Amtrak offers its passengers a variety of sleeping accommodations to fit all budgets and preferences. On the Amtrak Starlight, passengers can choose from roomettes (which include plenty of amenities and options) , bedrooms, or even family bedrooms, providing a cozy and private space to rest and even shower during the journey. Those with private rooms can dine complimentary in the Dining Car.

Those sleeping in coach should try to choose a seat in a designated Quiet Car in order to experience fewer disruptions.

7 The Amtrak Coast Starlight Baggage Policy Is Quite Generous

Chronic over-packers can breathe a sigh of relief when traveling Coast Starlight. With Amtrak’s generous baggage policy, passengers can bring two personal items, a carry-on bag, and two free checked bags weighing up to 50 pounds.

Up to two additional checked bags can be checked in for a $20 fee per bag. Bikes can also be stored on the Amtrak Starlight.

8 Phone Signal On Amtrak's Coast Starlight Route Can Be Patchy

Traveling on the Amtrak Starlight provides a unique opportunity to disconnect and unwind from the demands of daily life. Phone signal can be spotty throughout the journey, so passengers who want to enjoy a movie or show during the journey should make sure to download it onto their device beforehand.

Those who want to relax away from technology can unwind with a good book and a warm cup of tea or find a seat in the observation car and marvel at the beautiful passing scenery.

Related: 10 Items That Will Make Your Coach Train Ride Feel Like First Class

9 The Best Time To Travel Amtrak's Coast Starlight Differs

The Amtrak Coast Starlight runs year-round, and the best time to travel this route depends on personal preferences. Summer is the busiest time of year to take the Amtrak Starlight. Tourists will be using up their vacation days to enjoy sunny and warm weather, so the train will be at or near capacity. Passengers who want to take the route in the summer should try to make reservations in advance.

One of the things first-time travelers on Amtrak should know is that ticket availability and pricing can vary, especially during peak travel seasons, so planning ahead ensures a smooth and hassle-free experience. Travelers who prefer smaller crowds and milder weather should consider traveling in the spring or fall. Prices during these seasons are more affordable, and passengers can enjoy pleasant temperatures and a more relaxed atmosphere. The spring months also offer the possibility of catching glimpses of migrating whales along the coast.

Finally, traveling on the Amtrak Starlight during the winter months will have passengers experience cooler and rainier weather. For those who enjoy rainy train rides and the view of stormy waves crashing into the shore, traveling the Amtrak Starlight in the winter carries its own unique and moody charm.

10 What To Know About The Best Stops Along The Amtrak Starlight Route

Basic Amtrak tickets take passengers from their departure city to their final destination, but passengers who purchase multi-city tickets can explore additional cities and towns along the Coast Starlight route. The coast from Seattle, Washington, to Los Angeles, California, is filled with charming towns with beautiful architecture, nature, history, and adventures.

Travelers looking for an adrenaline rush can go white water rafting in Klamath Falls, Oregon, while wine-lovers can spend a day wine-tasting and exploring the iconic Hearst Castle in San Luis Obispo, California. Stops can be designed according to travel plans and preferences.

  • Popular Stops on Amtrak Starlight: Seattle, Washington; Portland, Oregon; Sacramento, California; San Francisco, California; Santa Barbara, California; Los Angeles, California

Passengers should keep in mind that if they have a stop scheduled during their trip, they will need to disembark with all their belongings as the Starlight train will continue towards its final destination. One train departs per day on the Starlight route, so travelers will have to wait until the next day to board a new train.

The 3.5 hour sailing across the Cook Strait is as relaxing as it is scenic. As playful dolphins frolic alongside the ferry sit back and relax on the outside deck or lounge inside at the café or bar.

During the winter months humpback whales can be seen gracefully gliding their enormous bodies through the strait as they migrate to the south.

Glimpses of land appear as the ferry slowly drifts past secluded inlets of the Marlborough Sounds where you're greeted with the palm tree lined waterfront of Picton .

For local maps, expert advice and to book activities visit Picton isite Visitor Information Centre , which is a mere five minutes walk from the ferry terminal and most accommodation providers are close by.

Towns in the Marlborough area

Considered the heart of the Marlborough Sounds and built around a sheltered harbour, the picturesque port town of Picton is home to great cafés, restaurants, galleries and specialty boutique stores. And with less than 5,000 locals you're bound to meet a few friendly faces.

Picton is home to many excellent tramping and cycling trails including the Queen Charlotte Track (opens in new window) . Although the climate is mild and generally warm, the area also has a high average rainfall so you need to be prepared and check the weather before you begin.

Green-lipped mussels are grown and harvested in abundance in the area and the small village of Havelock , just 45 minutes drive from Picton, is the gateway to the Pelorus Sounds .

Marlborough Tour Company Mail Boat tour is a super relaxing full day tour onboard a  catamaran, meandering slowly through the clear waters of the Pelorus Sounds to deliver mail and supplies to locals who live remotely in the sounds. Waiting on the jetty's you'll meet some interesting characters and hear how Kiwi ingenuity shapes the somewhat primitive life in the sounds. It's not just the locals who wait on the jetties - keep a look out for dogs, pigs, sheep and seals!

Find the top 10 things to do in Kaikōura

After a sleep-in and leisurely brunch, make your way to Picton Train Station (just behind Picton isite Visitor Information Centre ) ready for an early afternoon departure on the Coastal Pacific ™, one of New Zealand's great train journeys.

Leaving Picton behind, your Coastal Pacific ™ train trip begins with views of New Zealand's premium wine growing region of Blenheim, home to world-renowned Marlborough sauvignon blanc. The patchwork landscape of deep oranges and burnt yellows are thanks to the long hot days and dry weather in this region.

The Coastal Pacific™ railway's many tunnels are a major feature of the journey. The cost and difficulty of building these 20 tunnels resulted in the railway taking more than 80 years to complete.

The tunnels are clustered in the cliffs that rise either side of Kaikōura's  vast plains. The majority of these tunnels are between  Ōkiwi  Bay and Claverley.

Continuing on, you'll notice the landscape becomes lush as the train tracks cross into the northern Canterbury region.

Lake Grassmere is an interesting sight, the pastel pink and whites you'll see is  the result of natural salt production. Seawater, fresh from the Pacific Ocean, is pumped into the lake and into  crystallisation ponds until the salt is harvested. The pink to purple colour of the crystallisation ponds is caused by natural microscopic green algae that change to pink in the high salt concentration. The same phenomena that gives the Red Sea its name.

Continuing south, keep a look out for the Ohau Point Seal Colony. Often, hundreds of New Zealand fur seals can be spotted sunning themselves on the rocks or frolicking amongst the seaweed. The train travels close enough to the ocean to see the seals with the naked eye.

One of the most spectacular moments of the Coastal Pacific ™ journey is at Mangamaunu Bay. Here the train rounds the southern end of the bay delivering exceptional close-up views of the  Kaikōura mountain ranges.  Mangamaunu Bay is also one of the best surf beaches in New Zealand and during peak surf conditions, the bay is so popular that surfers queue up to take turns.

In the late afternoon the Coastal Pacific ™ arrives into   Kaikōura Train Station (also known as the Whaleway Station) which is on the waterfront in the same building as Whalewatch Kaikōura.

Accommodation options are ten minute walk from the station in the town centre or a short drive away.

  • Seward Kaikōura Ranges
  • Mt Fyffe - walking and hiking
  • New Zealand fur seal colonies

Find out more about Kaikōura wildlife

Kaikōura is a base for wildlife experiences of all kinds – it’s also a great place to eat crayfish (in Māori language 'kai' means food, 'kōura' means crayfish).

Kaikōura's environment is truly spectacular, the village is sandwiched between the rugged seaward Kaikōura Range and the Pacific Ocean. In winter the mountains are covered with snow, adding to the drama of the landscape.

The special talents of the area are marine mammal encounters. Whales, fur seals and dolphins live permanently in the coastal waters. Whale watching trips leave the town several times a day and the local seal colony is always entertaining.

Kaikōura Canyon, where many wildlife encounters take place, is deep and open and the sea conditions can change quickly. When the seas are too rough, head to the clouds and whale watch from above with Wings over Whales .

There are also plenty of cafés, restaurants and shops to explore and of course you should try succulent Kaikōura crayfish fresh off the boat at Nins Bin crayfish caravan (opens in new window) , at a waterfront restaurant or  Kaikōura Seafood BBQ (opens in new window) .

Find out more about Canterbury

With most of the day free, it's then time to head back to the Whaleway Station in the afternoon to board the Coastal Pacific™ bound for Christchurch.

Heading south, the train travels over the Kahutara River Bridge which stretches 241 metres long. Enjoy stunning views of the Kahutara River below, the Pacific Ocean on the left and the Seaward  Kaikōura  Ranges on the right.

Okarahia Viaduct, at 21 metres high and 115 metres long, is an unexpected gem and a beautiful sight to behold.  Views of the viaduct appear suddenly from behind trees near Claverley Road and you're treated to stunning views of the Pacific Ocean on the left and tree-lined Okarahia Valley on the right.

Travelling on to the north-eastern tip of the Canterbury Plains (which span a massive 200 kilometres from north to south) the Coastal Pacific™ is now sharing the land with the TranzAlpine™ whose main territory is the Southern Alps. The TranzAlpine™ follows the valleys of the Waimakariri River while the Coastal Pacific™ crosses over the river near Kaiapoi.

Historically, the train route of the Coastal Pacific™ began as two separate railways; one from Christchurch to  Kaikōura and another from Picton to Blenheim. Connecting the two railways together was impossible with the Kaikōura Ranges in the way. The only option was to build the train route around the coast, creating a scenic train journey on the very edge of the world.

As the Coastal Pacific™ pulls into Christchurch Railway Station (sometimes known as Addington Station) your train journey comes to an end just after sunset.

Grab a taxi from the station and head into the central city where you'll find many options for acccomodation.

Christchurch is an interesting city so it's worth spending a few nights exploring.

If your next stop is the West Coast consider the scenic journey through the Southern Alps onboard the TranzAlpine ™  which departs from Christchurch Station.

The Indian Pacific Rail, Coast & Vines Tour - Day 2

See the whole of Rottnest in a day with a return ferry trip combined with a full-island bus tour. The 90-minute tour visits the island’s most spectacular locations, with insightful commentary shining a light on "Rotto’s" unique flora, fauna, history, and culture. The bus stops at two key vantage points – Wadjemup Lighthouse and the rugged West End, where passengers can hop off, take a short walk, and soak up the views. You might even meet a quokka or two along the way.

Rottnest Island is situated 19 kilometers off the coast of Perth . Getting to the island is easy as ferries depart regularly from Perth’s Barrack Street Jetty, Fremantle, and Hillarys Boat Harbour - or you can get there by air with a seaplane, air taxi, or helicopter. Rottnest Island offers visitors a casual atmosphere, picturesque scenery, and a rich cultural heritage to discover, find out why the local Noongar people called the island Wadjemup which means ‘place across the water where the spirits are’.  Cycling is the best way to get around the island or there’s a hop-on/hop-off bus service that regularly runs around the island, stopping at some of the more secluded beaches and surf breaks. With 63 of the prettiest beaches you’re likely to see anywhere, 20 beautiful bays, and many coral reefs and wrecks, Rottnest Island is a marine paradise. You can spend your days exploring some of the most spectacular swimming spots, diving, and surfing breaks in the world, and a must-do is exploring the snorkel trails, with over 135 species of tropical fish and 25 species of coral to discover. There’s plenty to experience out of the water too, from meeting the world-famous Quokka to exploring the excellent bike and walking trails that traverse the island. You can also discover the island’s military history, as you explore underground tunnels, the lighthouse, Oliver Hill, and Bickley Battery. There are tours on the island which include a tour by bike, boat, or Segway, offering insightful experiences, from wildlife encounters to learning about Aboriginal heritage.

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Go beneath the streets on this tour of the spectacular, mind-bending Moscow Metro! Be awed by architecture and spot the Propaganda , then hear soviet stories from a local in the know. Finish it all up above ground, looking up to Stalins skyscrapers, and get the inside scoop on whats gone on behind those walls.

Know More about this tour

We begin our Moscow tour beneath the city, exploring the underground palace of the Moscow Metro. From the Square of Revolution station, famous for its huge statues of soviet people (an armed soldier, a farmer with a rooster, a warrior, and more), we’ll move onto some of the most significant stations, where impressive mosaics, columns, and chandeliers will boggle your eyes! Moreover, these stations reveal a big part of soviet reality — the walls depict plenty of Propaganda , with party leaders looking down from images on the walls. Your local guide will share personal stories of his/her family from USSR times, giving you insight into Russia’s complicated past and present. Then we’re coming back up to street level, where we’ll take a break and refuel with some Russian fast food: traditional pancakes, called bliny. And then, stomachs satiated, we are ready to move forward! We’ll take the eco-friendly electric trolleybus, with a route along the Moscow Garden Ring. Used mainly by Russian babushkas(grannies) during the day, the trolleybus hits peak hours in the mornings and evenings, when many locals use it going to and from their days. Our first stop will be the Aviator’s House, one of Stalin’s Seven Sisters, followed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs — and you’ll hear the legends of what has gone on inside the walls. Throughout your Moscow tour, you’ll learn curious facts from soviet history while seeing how Russia exists now, 25 years after the USSR.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
  • The interval in the movement of trains in rush hour is  90 seconds .
