Book Review

Reviewed by Pikasho Deka for Readers' Favorite

Endless Journey is an epic dark fantasy novel by Frederick T.J. Ramazzo. It opens with a young warrior named Maztli traversing the dreaded Deadlands alongside his two companions, his lover Evelina and the deadly Elysian, Yofiel. Soon, following Bune's guidance, the trio stumbles upon a fierce ongoing battle where the monsters of the land are massacring a group of travelers. After an ensuing fight, Maztli vows to help the travelers find sanctuary in the kingdom of Azraelia. However, a mysterious creature called Thresh the Mortifier offers them a better option if only the group will follow them through Hell's Forest. As Maztli and his friends go through the hazardous forest, they will face destructive battles, betrayal, and loss that will test their abilities and resolve to their limits. An action-packed fantasy odyssey from start to finish, Endless Journey lives up to its name and leaves you wanting more. Frederick T.J. Ramazzo has created a fantastical masterpiece with a story that has vividly described battle sequences seared into your mind and a fully fleshed-out world full of terrifying monsters, likable heroes, obnoxious princesses, and more. The power levels of the characters are mind-blowingly astounding. Ramazzo sets the tone for the story quite early on with a brutal battle in the first couple of chapters that leaves scores of dead bodies in its wake. I thoroughly enjoyed the dynamic between the leading trio, and Yofiel was my favorite character. A must-read for fantasy fans who love stories with edge-of-your-seat battle sequences.

As a young warrior and his cohorts make their way across the Deadlands, they come upon a group of refugees who are fleeing the terror prevailing in their home country. Meztli Azrael pledges to guide this group of weary adults and children through the horrors of this land to the relative safety of the Azraelian kingdom. To fulfill this promise, he and his gifted team must ensure that they get past Hell’s Forest and the monsters that lurk there. Help comes from an unusual source but, as is the case with everything in this accursed land, their guide’s motives may not be as altruistic as they sound. Meztli, Yofiel, and Evelina will be pushed to the very limits of their capabilities in this battle for survival, which plays out in Endless Journey: A Dark Adventure Story by Frederick T.J. Ramazzo. The storyline for this engaging adventure is rather straightforward but despite it being predictable, Frederick T.J. Ramazzo displays impressive ability by creating intriguing subplots. Meztli’s unwillingness or inability to talk about his past combined with Thresh’s intermittent one-liners leaves you wondering if there is more to their relationship than meets the eye, while Yofiel’s unwavering loyalty to her unit looks as if it may come under threat from the developing romantic triangle. Ramazzo uses vivid descriptions to bring his tale to life as the story progresses but what I admired the most about this novel has to be his way with words. He uses his incredible gift to transform Endless Journey from being an interesting adventure to a delightfully immersive reading experience.

Meztli, a fearless man, and his team of warriors venture through deadly regions guided by a mysterious being called Bune. The warriors have special abilities and unique body parts, making them lethal to any foe. The team is joined by travelers that they vow to protect with their lives. The group travels day and night, seeking the Kingdom of Azraelian. They are joined by new allies and encounter powerful predators ready to eliminate them. Their journey is filled with attacks, betrayals, detours, and unpredictable situations. Will Meztli lead the group to safety, or are they headed for a massacre? Find out what will happen to this dynamic group of travelers in Endless Journey by Fredrick T.J. Ramazzo. Darkness, action, drama, and friendship, Endless Journey will give you all this and more. It is a tale of determination and perseverance in the face of never-ending trials. Meztli and his team were ready to fight anything that came their way. Just like life, giving up was never an option, even when all seemed lost. Fredrick T.J. Ramazzo brings each character and scene to life by describing them in great detail. He showcases his creativity through the unique names of characters, places, languages, and ethnicities. The story was conversational and fast-paced, and every moment was entertaining. Each chapter introduced a new, cunning, and ruthless adversary for the protagonists. I applaud the author's imagination because the monsters and creatures described in this tale are incredible. Endless Journey is an amazing read, and I think the last word in this book gives this story the best description. It was unpredictable.

Loved it! 😍

Metzli and his companions guide a caravan of human travelers through the dangerous, monster-filled Hell's Forest.

Meztli Azrael, a young man of Astekahn descent, has set foot on a new adventure. Along with his comrades, Yofiel and Evelina, they thrust themselves into the unknown as they search for their purpose. The Deadlands is a world with vast mountain ranges and an endless horizon. Deprived of color, the open world radiates sorrow and terror with monsters lurking underneath. The warriors challenge the dejected world as their endless days lead them to a group of travelers. The newfound inhabitants are of Astekahn descent. Meztli vows to bring them to asylum inside the Azraelian Kingdom, but their plans are altered when a mysterious figure named Thresh the Mortifier grants them information about a sacred location known as Aztlán – the birthplace of Meztli’s people. To reach this mythical kingdom, they must traverse Hell's Forest; an area so treacherous and unpredictable that not even the strongest adventurers enter unprepared. With their lives on the line and those they vowed to protect at stake, our three brave warriors venture into the unknown once more, hoping to reach the sacred place they seek.

The Deadlands are far from dead. In Endless Journey , a group of otherworldly warriors comes upon a group of human travelers under attack by vicious monsters. After the battle is finally ended Metzli, Yofiel and Evelina take it upon themselves to guide the humans safely to their destination.

Endless Journey immediately brings the reader into the Deadlands by dropping them smack into the path with Metzli and his companions. With little time to get their bearings in such an eerie environment, both the reader and the characters are forced to adapt as the words flow along. Right away, we see Metzli and his friends seemingly searching for a specific purpose. In some sense, the abrupt beginning to the book did feel slightly disorienting, as it seemed like there were things we were already supposed to know about this strange world, as readers, but in fact we were only just stepping foot into it for the first time. It almost felt like disorientation was purposeful though, to put the reader in the same frame of mind as the main characters.

While reading through Endless Journey I repeatedly wondered if it was truly supposed to feel slightly allegorical, or if perhaps my history-nerd-oriented brain was just drawing its own conclusions. For instance, the way in which the strife and hardships of the human travelers is portrayed was reminiscent to some Native American history. There were hints that these people were losing their homelands as the result of greedy oppressors who burst onto the scene and seemed to think that their way of life was better. The plight for freedom to continue living and expressing their own cultural values meant that they had to brave dangerous lands to try and find refuge in a (hopefully) safer, more welcoming place.

One thing that I did wish to see more of was more differentiation or descriptive distinctions of the various creatures that they encountered. There were some that wonderfully (and frighteningly!) imagined, such as the Kakalu and the beasts that attacked the travelers in the beginning of the book. Sometimes, though, it seemed like there was too much reliance on simply referring to them as monsters, creatures or beasts and overtime, it felt like they kind of started to blend together.

Overall, I quite enjoyed Endless Journey . It was a fantastical journey inside a horror story, and I loved the suspense I felt throughout the book. At the same time, the suspense was counteracted by how much Metzli valued the lives of the humans and the compassion he showed them. It was a nice reminder that no matter how godly you might think you are; you still have to fight for survival sometimes just like everyone else. (Lastly, I also got quite a kick out of discovering that my high school Spanish skills haven’t completely evaporated over the last ten years!). This was definitely a highly worthwhile read!

Endless and vast terrain was spread out across the horizon. Gray rocks dominated the space; monstrous mountains filled the void with a deceptive sense of normalcy. The landscape was colorless, from the tips of its jagged peaks to its stagnant rivers. A sense of sadness and dread permeated. The eerie quietness of the land could drive one mad as the faintest sound of the wind sent shivers down one’s spine. The sensation of emptiness was a common characteristic of the Deadlands.

One’s footsteps drowned out the endless thoughts of demise surging through the mind. Any weary traveler had to remain on edge—the consequence of existing in this hellish world.

Although the air remained frustratingly cold, daytime was preferred. At nightfall, the temperature dropped to the point where a heated light source became necessary. During the day, sunlight could barely penetrate the active dark clouds over the earth. Light abided by the laws of science, yet little shone below. Its divine guidance was weak. The odorless winds were maddening; a potent aroma of death followed. The world felt empty and alive at the same time.

One could not forget the creatures beneath the ground. Dormant, they slept eternally without feeding. They lurked underneath the earth and waited for their opportune moment. Traditional means of finding them were null. Only the capable could detect their presence. Only the insane and extraordinary tried their shot at challenging such circumstances. To roam the Deadlands was a foolish act. However, beings ventured there by pure choice rather than mere coincidence.

“How much longer do we have to go?”

On top of a large hill overlooking the barren earth, a group of unique figures surveyed the ever-stretching world.

“Meztli,” one of them said, her shoulders drooping. “All this walking is so boring!”

Her energetic voice would draw anyone towards her; her dark-orchid irises and light-gray skin contrasted with her wavy black hair. She bore no physical mouth. With a towering physique, her muscles and bodacious figure amplified her presence. Although her face was stunning, her feet were her most distinctive features. She had sharp ends that sunk into the ground and kept her upright. Her pointe was nothing like a dancer’s technique. It was mere anatomy.

“Calm down, Yofie. I’m sure we’re getting there,” Meztli said.

Yofiel squinted her eyes at the light-skinned man. She turned to the more imposing beauty by her side with a complaint.

“He always says that Evie—liar,” she said in a mumble.

In her deep, seductive voice, the darker woman responded with certainty. “It’s okay, sweetie. All we have to do is walk.”

The dark-skinned woman had a fierce look in her eyes. Her beauty shone brightly as a simple smile ignited her face into a supernova. Her body was covered with armor from head to toe. Her bulky physique sheltered her torso and granted her power. A helmet formed as she crouched and scanned the land through her rifle. She hid her stern look behind the thick metal. The armored woman with her array of weaponry was Evelina.

“ Todo se ve bien . Everything looks good. We can move down a little,” she said.

Her helmet vanished as the fierce red in her eyes transformed into a bubblegum pink. Beyond her left shoulder, near the edge of the cliff, a rugged, attractive face stood in silence. With his light-brown skin elevating his red eyes, his dark irises produced a splendid look. A cleft chin and sharp jawline offset softer elements of his face. His pretty eyelashes and slit eyebrows were terrific to the eye. Meztli was a pretty boy with a rough mask.

Meztli stood seven feet tall. His imposing size and attractiveness were a killer combination. Yofiel reached his shoulders; Evelina could place her face near his chest.

“I think we should move down. We need to find a place to sleep before sundown,” he said.

As the girls reverted their gaze to the horizon, a sole individual spoke from above Meztli’s hair. “We’ll see what shit we gotta deal with down there.”

The shadow beast, who had been sleeping, opened its enormous eyes as the lengthy smile came to life. Its menacing appearance was tempered by its elegant black fur. Meztli’s partner went by one name: the shadow beast resting on his head was Knox. He bore the body of a snake and an attitude as lofty as the clouds. His deep voice commanded attention. Knox had a severe bite to his tone.

“Shit’s going to be boring either way. Just walking all the time,” he said with a snarl.

Meztli glanced above his head with a slight tilt. “Good. I’d rather walk than fight monsters.”

Knox’s small torso sat upright like a snake as he crossed his tiny arms. Then he displayed a grimace through his sharp fangs.

“What’s the point of all this walking if I ain’t got a comfortable place to sleep on?” he said. “You cut your curls so short! Who knew your big-ass forehead was so hard!”

Meztli smirked and shook his head in dismay. “You think long hair is a good idea in this place?”

Knox bit back. “You think these earrings are a good idea?”

His sharp nails touched the large plugs hanging from his ear lobes. They covered his earflaps with their circular design, elevating his aesthetic. Black in color, singular red eyes were located inside the skull in the middle of the design. A helmet with green feathers locked around the skull, encircling the shape of the plugs and filling the black base. The contrast of black, red, and green was astonishing.

“Oh, shut up,” Meztli said.

Knox chuckled at Meztli’s side-eye.

“At least you’d look fabulous while killing stuff,” the small shadow added.

Meztli smiled at Knox’s endless remarks. Then, with a tug of his tiny body, his rough fist rubbed the patch of hair on top of the little shadow.

“Like you’re one to talk, you little shit! See that fluffy hair on your head? It’s asking to be pulled,” Meztli said.

The girls ignored their shenanigans, focusing on the vast world around them.

“So, we just gotta keep going in this direction, and we’ll reach our destination?” Yofiel asked.

She turned to Evelina with curiosity in her eyes. “Isn’t that what this Bune guy told us?”

Evelina stood with her weapon holstered in her inventory—her gun magically disappeared without a trace. Then, a sigh emerged from her mouth, along with a smile. “That’s what he said. Who knows how much longer it will be?”

Meztli walked towards the edge with his hands behind his skull. Knox floated above with a snarl. Evelina embraced his warmth on the spot.

“Wherever we’re going, let’s hope there’s a big, comfortable bed waiting for us,” she said, locking arms with him.

Her head rested on Meztli’s shoulder; her always-changing eyes became a distinct color. From her bubblegum pink, a seductive purple arose. Her bow-shaped lips were perfect for a smirk.

“ Cálmate, mamita . I don’t need you getting all crazy,” Meztli said with a kiss.

Their tongues switched to a distinct language. “ Ya sabes …I’m such a naughty woman.”

She gestured towards the edge. “Come on. We have to find a place to sleep before it gets dark.”

“Ugh! Let’s hope something interesting happens,” Yofiel said, groaning.

Her arms stretched into the air to ease the tension in her neck. She had outstanding balance with her unique feet, even down a treacherous path. They began their journey into the unknown as they slid down the hill.

A dull, dangerous world awaited. Luck played a part inside the Deadlands. Pale, towering mountains surrounded the flatlands. Although far away, the group felt enclosed by their mesmerizing size. The air was incredibly light to the touch, with the temperature lowering. The soundless void blackened around them as the sun lowered toward its resting place.

Hours passed on their trip down the hill, and Yofiel strutted forward with a hum in her throat.

“So let me get this straight…We’re supposed to walk forever through this boring land until something interesting happens. Where is this Bune guy taking us?” Yofiel asked with her face pointing to the sky.

Her dramatic complaint did not match her body language; her graceful skip brought an intense glow to her face. Behind Yofiel, her companions walked side by side in silence. Then, she halted her forward movement as they passed her. She giggled before lunging onto Meztli’s back. The tall woman wrapped her limbs around his body in a piggyback ride. Her added weight and annoying voice in his ear tightened his expression.

“Meztli!” she screamed.

“How much longer? I don’t want to walk anymore!”

Her grip was tight around his torso; Meztli strained to hold her back. “I don’t know, Yofie. Stop asking.”

“Ask that Bune guy,” she said, poking his side.

Meztli sighed with his head moving in dismay. “I’ll ask him later.”

“I rather walk the entire time than meet those things below us,” Evelina said with a glance down at her wrist.

A screen on her metal gauntlet displayed an overload of information. It read all the surrounding statistics in live time—from the temperature of the atmosphere to the elevation of the rock formations where they stood. The most crucial part of the device was her radar to locate the threats burrowing deep in their vicinity.

“It’s weird…It’s like they’re ignoring us,” she said.

Meztli brought her face to his chest as Yofiel jumped off his back. Her head rested on his left shoulder while he kept Evelina close. As both women embraced him in a sandwich, Meztli was more distracted by the scenarios in his mind. “Where would I be without you girls?”

Yofiel took hold of his bicep as she said, “You’d probably go insane with just Knox around.”

He nodded and stuck out his bottom lip. “True.”

Evelina rolled her eyes and looked away for a moment. She felt his hand wrap around her waist, pulling her towards his body.

“That’s why I brought my girl,” he said. “She keeps me company.”

“That ain’t the only reason, Papi . You wouldn’t get far without me.”

Her irises shifted to orange as she smirked. She glanced into his eyes before looking down at her wrist.

“Hey! I’m useful too!” Yofiel said.

Her left hand touched her hip while her eyebrows furrowed.

Meztli responded in kind. “Of course! You gotta do the heavy lifting with me!”

Smiling, he faced forward while she eased her grip and skipped ahead. Her jolly tune matched the exaggerated long steps away from the pair. “Duh! I’m great at killing stuff!”

Meztli let out a long breath. “Hopefully, we won’t have to do much killing.”

“I still don’t feel that good.”

Meztli’s palm touched his abdomen with a glance downward. Evelina looked straight at him with tension in her lips, her irises shifting to a morbid grey.

“I’m sure we’ll be fine,” she said.

In front of them, Yofiel walked forward with her hands behind her head. “I’m feelin’ good, so maybe it’s only you two lovebirds.”

Meztli side-eyed her with a less-than-happy expression. Evelina chuckled, smiling at Yofiel’s carefree attitude.

“We know you’re lying. All three of you are lacking,” Knox said as he picked at his sharp teeth.

His remark silenced the entire group. They walked forward without a word. The sound of their footsteps filtered their endless thoughts. Nightfall was near, and the threat was everblooming.

Suddenly, an influx of information on Evelina’s gauntlet drew them into action. An artificial voice projected into her helmet, giving the group an estimate of the danger.

“One thousand meters ahead.”

An intense gaze came onto Meztli’s face. Yofiel’s eyes dilated into a different shape, resembling a demon. Her jolly pace shifted; her loose posture tensed. The group dashed toward the threat as Evelina’s battle armor materialized onto her body.

All occurred in seconds: hell awaited them on the horizon.

Yofiel exploded into action, shattering the ground in her wake as she led the charge with her long, graceful legs. Meztli matched her urgency, with Knox flying above him like a miniature dragon. Behind the brawlers, Evelina trailed with her rifle at the ready. Her armor granted excellent mobility, but she could never match their monstrous speed.

Evelina’s murderous technology supported her allies from above. Two fast projectiles exploded out of her collarbone. They rocketed into the sky before rupturing out of their cubic shells. Then, the foreboding drones formed on the spot as a single thruster ignited. Gunfire followed the thundering hailstorm of bullets shredding the ground from afar.

As they approached the loud banging of rock on the front lines, a certain stench of blood rose. The cries seemed less distant by the dull grey rocks painted in a sea of red. Everywhere they looked, bodies littered the battlefield by the dozen. They ran on; slight vibrations in the ground turned into noticeable tremors as giant beings crawled under their feet in waves. Then, the warriors arrived in one giant leap.

Their arrival signaled hope, but the situation was far from ideal.

Terrifying, sorrowful screams echoed through the land. Many large carriages were scattered across the open field in a tarnished state. People fled with terror in their eyes. The monsters tore the horses apart while the travelers ran, tormented by the demonic beasts roaming the Deadlands. The monsters lumbered on all fours. As they surfaced from the deep rock, the ground quaked violently in a harsh distortion. Then, as if the bones in their bodies vanished, they rose fluidly. Their limbs twisted and turned abnormally as the deranged puppets concluded their introduction with their trademark low-pitched cries.

A strong gurgle caused their jaws to vibrate. Their mouths remained agape; their neck muscles lowered into an eerie quiet. A haze surrounded their bodies as their melody came to life. Any individual in the vicinity of their cry had their bones melted into jelly. What followed matched the nature of their pitch: violent.

They scurried toward their vulnerable prey on their thick, muscular legs. Their speed was frightening. The low gurgle in their throats sounded like demonic dogs. Then, massive jaws snatched up any unfortunate individual, ripping their victims apart. The monsters thrashed the poor travelers. Most perished from the immense shock, but a few remained awake long enough to feel their stomachs ripped open by the powerful mandibles on display. The sheer sound of flesh being torn apart was like a never-ending symphony. Men, women, and children perished without mercy.

The warriors were late. For most, the suffering had already begun.

The Endless Journey

A unique perspective of mankind's origin, purpose, and ultimate destiny.

the endless journey book

Why read the book?

Are you having trouble dealing with disease or the death of someone close? Have you ever wondered why you have irrational phobias? Do you feel that life unfairly discriminates against you? Are you often depressed?

Are you simply curious about who you are and why you are living this life?

“The Endless Journey” helps answer these and many other common questions. The answers to life’s mysteries and the solution to all our problems are right in front of us; but we don’t see them because we are so focused on the material world. Although the true nature of the cosmos is disguised by the material world, it can be discovered by anyone through effort.

This straight forward non-religious book, which is supported by many medical and scientific studies, offers a very understandable explanation of our world and the spiritual world in which we reside after death. It explains our nature and provides specific guidance on how to make the most of the rest out of our life. This book offers a positive view of mankind’s future and will change all who take it to heart.

Meet the Author

I have a BS in mathematics from St. Lawrence University, a BS in electrical engineering from Penn State University, and a master’s in electrical engineering from Villanova University. I spent seventeen years as a design engineer and technical manager at Boeing, where I was responsible for designing automatic flight control and avionics systems.

After Boeing, I spent nine years in the U.S. Government’s Senior Executive Service (SES) with the US Army directing avionics and command and control R&D. During this period I also co-directed joint Army/NASA laboratories at NASA Langley and NASA Ames and was the US Army’s representative and U.S Government lead on the Avionics Committee for NATO’s Advisory Group for Aerospace Research and Development. I then created and was the CEO of Cobham Defense Electronics Systems (CDES) Corp, a subsidiary of Cobham, plc, for 15 years. When I retired CDES had become the world’s leading military microwave subsystem company. After writing The Endless Journey , I created and was the host of The Common Sense Spirituality Show, which ran live for 2 years on W4CY radio and also had a weekly podcast called Aspects of Spirituality .

Throughout my life I spent my free time in an exhaustive search for the most plausible answers that I could find to the classic questions concerning our existence: Who are we? Is there a God? Why is the cosmos here? How shall we live our life? What is important?

Like most of us, for years I was confused by life’s illusions; but what I eventually found was that truth is available to anyone committed enough to search for it. I knew when I began to find truth because things started to make sense. The answers, which I describe in the form of a worldview, are right in front of us; but we fail to see them because we are so consumed with our materialistic lifestyle. This worldview describes a divine plan in which we are an intricate and important part. What I believe to be the answers to life’s most basic questions are detailed in “The Endless Journey”

the endless journey book

David Gaggin

“David V. Gaggin looks at the universe as the setting and the role of human existence within that setting through a wide lens. He collects and connects the sub-events of thoughts and decisions that humans continue to accumulate and arrange. This is, as his title indicates, an “endless journey”. However, he sees collective revelations of meaningful and non-meaningful paths on this endless journey to the ultimate goal…the perfect life. The topic could hardly be more timely.”

Prof. J.E. Hollingworth

“I have always wondered about life. I could not believe a big bang started this organized world or I would ever cease to exist. The answers organized religion offer have always seemed too illogical. Gaggin has answered many of the questions I have had or was not able to articulate. After reading this extremely well-documented book I am certain I can find the answers to my questions if I never stop searching. There is no longer fear in my life. I know I am part of a plan. I understand how I should live life. And I know death will be a new beginning, not an end.”

Rowena Read Krum

“Goal setting is an important part of all our lives, be it emotionally, mentally, physically, at home or at work. Setting reasonable goals helps us achieve more in the long run and often leads to better results and happiness. This was the most important lesson I took away from this book. In less than 300 pages, Gaggin explores human perspective while the reader questions their daily actions. The book is marked under “Ancient Civilisations” because it covers religion and history, but it can also be used as a self-help book for those who are at crossroads in their lives.”

Briony Lewis

“What is the meaning of life and where are we heading? The older we get, I think these questions become more prominent in our lives. Gaggin attempts to offer a view on this. Some ideas in the book are meaningful and can truly help a person to create a more peaceful environment. ”

“This book is an easy read, but definitely increases in depth the more times you read the chapters. As I went through the book, I was amazed at how many of my own personal questions that I have had throughout my adult life, were now being addressed by someone else. I no longer feel alone or out of place with my thoughts. The explanations and commentary make sense and feel right to me. This book has renewed my own desire to question more and trust my gut feelings that we progress through our many lives based on the lessons we have learned.”

Ellen Montgomery

What our readers have to say, "the endless journey" has something to offer everyone.

The book offers a unique worldview and can be read on multiple levels depending on the reader’s understanding. It is intended to meet the needs of many people whether they are frustrated by their irrational fears or simply seeking answers to universal truths. The scientific skeptic or religious devotee will find new perspectives to consider. The novice seeker will find key concepts that can be used as a spiritual foundation for a rational belief system. The seasoned seekers will find subtleties that will help them tie a consistent set of beliefs together. The highly sophisticated seeker will find pathways that can be followed to unlock even greater truths. No matter what the reader’s spiritual understanding, all seekers of knowledge and wisdom will gain comfort and understanding from “The Endless Journey”.

Raves and Reviews

“Navigational tips for the journey--ways to grow and expand, ways of handling mess and sorrow, and ways of finding love and beauty and joy. The Endless Practice brings Mark Nepo’s many years of teaching and writing and musing into one potent offering. I recommend it heartily.”

– Elizabeth Lesser, cofounder of Omega Institute and author of Broken Open: How Difficult Times Can Help Us Grow

“In The Endless Practice, Mark Nepo is a kind friend, sage mentor, and curious fellow journeyer, walking alongside us as he observes the magnificent complexities of the human experience. The notion of an endless practice gives us hope and encouragement—that even when we trip, struggle, grieve, or feel lost, we have an opportunity to expand, and that it’s through this lived experience, with all its ups and downs, that we come closer to the heart of who we were born to be."

– Kris Carr

“In his deep understanding of our complicated lives, Mark Nepo says, “Love the task and work the light.” I’ve done this ten thousand times as the curtain lifted on stage, never thinking to try to live that way after the curtain dropped, in my everyday life. It wasn’t until I fought my addiction and won that I realized I was in my own way, and until I put something else in front of me, the life I wanted wouldn’t show up. And then one day, along with all the blessings I received, I picked up a copy of The Book of Awakening . And fourteen years later, I’m on my third copy, because as I read each day I underscore and leave my own notes. But the journey ain’t over as Mark’s new book, The Endless Practice, is yet another candle to light our understanding along the spiritual path called Life.”

– Steven Tyler

“I have spent my life searching for the reason I was born. I think anyone in middle age does. Mark Nepo has been my guide in the quest. Simple and yet wildly profound, his words of clarity and, most importantly, connection, his ideas and suggestions, are ones I inculcate and metabolize daily.”

– Jamie Lee Curtis

“This book held me in its warm embrace. Mark is a true poet of the soul, using fresh, vivid language to capture realities that are too often cast as mere cliches. What a blessing!”

– Tosha Silver, author of Outrageous Openness: Letting the Divine Take the Lead

“A poetic and marvelous invitation into presence and love. Let this book quiet your mind and open your heart, and help you live from the rhythms of your soul.”

– Jack Kornfield author of A Path With Heart

“Mark Nepo has created and encoded a work of wisdom, love, truth and beauty. Reading his words will open your heart, expand your mind, and nourish your soul. Just holding this book shifted me into a state of grace.”

– Arielle Ford, author of, Wabi Sabi Love: The Ancient Art of Finding Perfect Love in Imperfect Relationships

"Nepo writes reflectively and poetically about the lifelong spiritual journey. His tone is intimate, his perspective mature. Mystics will delight."

– Publishers Weekly

"Mark Nepo’s The Endless Practice is the kind of spiritual book you will want to read slowly so that the wisdom and the epiphanies can simmer in your consciousness."

– Spirituality & Practice

Sense of Direction

I go disoriented as my grey cells running the intellectual marathon, recede back in their steps.

I am on a busy quest for direction.

The nature is a prey to its own catastrophes, is not able to pull itself out of it. Its situations and moments make it or mar it.

Our hands steer the wheel of fortune, putting us back to driver’s seat. Wheel of our karma drives easily, thanks to our will and enterprise…

When I decide to go inwards, I see my own hand behind the wheel…

Dismayed, I throw up hands which shoot a question to destiny “where is the direction?”
