Silver Sands is central to this popular Florida Panhandle hamlet — no long drives necessary. The 100-plus stores span Tommy Hilfiger, Banana Republic, Nine West and Under Armour. And the events can’t be beat: The Nike Factory Store invites customers for weekly sunset runs along the beach. But even great shopping may pale next to Destin 's clear waters and powder-white sands. Repeatedly voted one of America’s best beaches, Destin also lauds itself as “the fishing capital of the world.” Water sports, shelling, amazing seafood, birding, the Florida Gulfarium and renowned golf courses are all nearby. Like many outlets, Silver Sands partners with hotels for “shop and stay” packages, including lodging, shuttles, spas and more. Residence Inn Sandestin’s Girls’ Getaway package includes a coupon book “worth $800 in savings.” Other partner hotels: Courtyard Sandestin, WaterColor Inn & Resort .

The Outlet Shoppes at Gettysburg

Kiplinger’s Personal Finance recognizes Pennsylvania as a great state for shopping savings — clothing and shoes (except fur and formalwear) are tax-free year-round. So in the morning, get Dad a new Brooks Brothers shirt and your daughter those Gap jeggings. In the afternoon, tour a landmark battle site and the namesake of Lincoln’s historic address. And before the kids cringe, remind them that Gettysburg exhibits include train and wax museums and, well, a fair amount of gore (51,000 killed, wounded or missing). Nearby, Land of Little Horses hosts a bevy of farm animal friends. Shopping for more American history? Try Leesburg (VA) Corner Premium Outlets (40 minutes from Washington, DC) as part of your Ball’s Bluff or Harper’s Ferry battle site tours. ( Holiday Inn Leesburg offers breakfast for 2, coupons and a free Samsonite backpack to hold your goodies.) And Williamsburg (VA) Premium Outlets feature Coach, Burberry and 130-plus other stores — if Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, Monticello and Virginia’s famous wine country haven’t already tuckered you out!

Las Vegas Premium Outlets

Las Vegas shopping is so rich, it needs both a Premium Outlets North and South . The North’s 150 stores lean toward the higher end — Cole Haan and Armani — while the South’s 140 stores include the more standard Ann Taylor and Aeropostale. The 2 malls are about 10 miles apart, so plan accordingly. And while you won’t get outlet prices, the Venetian’s Grand Canal Shoppes (with gondola rides) and the Forum Shops at Caesars are worth a visit, if just for the experience. Of course you know about Vegas’ exciting casinos, restaurants and shows. But don’t forget that Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon (try a helicopter tour or a Colorado River rafting trip) are only 2 hours away.

Lodi Station Outlets

Let’s face it: Even the best-behaved baby can have a mall meltdown. And while many outlets feature IMAX theaters, trampolines and interactive fountains to entertain the little ones, the Lodi Station Outlets, a 30-minute drive from Akron, OH, keep it classic. The 300,000-square-foot mall hosts 60-plus stores, including Bass and Corningware, but in a tip of the engineer’s cap to Ohio’s great rail history, it feels like a museum for vintage trains. Ride the hand-built English “Victoria” over the center’s 2 miles of track. You can even schedule a birthday party — and your child is the engineer! Beyond the mall, you’ll discover apple farms, markets, outdoor activities and Amish settlements. And Canton, OH, less than an hour’s drive away, is home to the Pro Football Hall of Fame .

San Marcos Premium Outlets

San Marcos Premium Outlets  offers 140 stores, including Fendi and Michael Kors. It’s designed after the Piazza San Marco in Venice, Italy, so no boring brick here.  Tanger Outlets  is also packed with stores and offers free Wi-Fi throughout the mall. Better yet, San Marcos is situated in Texas Hill Country, rife with bluebells, barbecue and boot-scootin’ dance halls. Texas’ capital of Austin (40 minutes north) is renowned for its offbeat attitude (“Keep Austin Weird,” reads many a bumper sticker) and music scene (try the  South by Southwest  festival in the spring, or  Austin City Limits  in the fall). Farther south, the German settlement of New Braunfels boasts the Gruene Historic District, the Schlitterbahn water park and Natural Bridge Caverns. Continue down from New Braunfels an additional 30 miles for  San Antonio’s River Walk  shopping and the Alamo. The  Radisson Austin’s  shopping package includes breakfast, a $25 food and beverage credit, parking and $500 in shopping coupons. Other packages:  San Marcos’ Country Inn & Suites and  Embassy Suites .

Then again, Branson, MO, is not only one of the top US country entertainment destinations, it also offers many other attractions: a  Titanic  museum, zip-lining, a tiger sanctuary and the Silver Dollar City theme park. For more homegrown music and fun, the  Tanger Outlets in Sevierville, TN , are within spitting distance of Dolly Parton’s famous Dollywood amusement park, the Guinness World Records Museum, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum and NASCAR Speedpark. You’re also at the foot of the Great Smoky Mountains, full of some of the nation’s most beautiful natural attractions.

Although the mall is sectioned into 3 locations around a busy highway of beachgoing traffic, Delaware’s tax-free shopping is hard to resist, especially when brands are 20-40% off already. If you’re looking for a mid-Atlantic summer beach trip, try Labor Day for additional sales (but again, prepare for crowds). What makes this area so attractive is a cluster of several very different beach towns. Dewey Beach is a popular party destination for people 21 years old and up. Bethany Beach is a family town with a more natural setting of quiet sands, birding and kayaking. And Rehoboth is lively, with large hotels and a classic boardwalk full of carnival games, photo booths and taffy. It’s also a popular destination for gays and lesbians, with numerous gay-friendly clubs and taverns.

Florida Keys Outlet Center

Start (or end) your trip to South Florida at this sunny shopping hub, situated at the northern entrance to the Florida Keys. Its 55 stores are uniquely located within just minutes of everything Florida: beaches, water sports, wildlife and kitschy hotels and restaurants. You'll also find numerous shop-and-stay packages (try  Holiday Inn Key Largo  or the  Key Largo Bay Marriott Beach Resort ). Activities are endless as you cruise the historic Overseas Highway. At the south, Key West is known for its party atmosphere and brilliant sunsets. Midway and north are Marathon and Key Largo, where you'll find dolphin encounters, the  Turtle Hospital  and excellent diving along the only US continental coral reef.  John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park  is a protected "undersea park" where you can dive, snorkel or stay dry in a glass-bottom boat. As you reach the mainland, visit the  Everglades  for alligator boat tours and maybe a glimpse of the rare Florida panther. Then, finish your trip strolling the shops and art-deco promenades of Miami's South Beach.

Shopping the Outlets

While some get a kick out of exploring the great shopping options throughout downtown, there are others who prefer the serious savings and selections just outside the city at several large outlet stores. So if you’re looking for deals and designer duds or other products only available at select outlets, it’s just a 45-90 minute drive from Seattle to reach several discount shopping destinations.

Centralia Outlets

With a remodel freshly completed, this welcoming outlet center has more than 25 stores to make the drive from Seattle worth your time. Newly added stores include Volcom, Aeropostale and Polo Ralph Lauren. There’s also a Helly Hansen outlet for those about to head into the mountains for adventure.

Getting There: Take I-5 south about 80 miles. Exit 82.

Seattle Premium Outlets

Outlet shopping goes upscale with stores such as Banana Republic, Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Restoration Hardware and more than 125 others. Here you can find everything from fine leather to housewares, designer clothes and specialty items. Take advantage of extended hours and extra savings during Midnight Madness, which begins the day after Thanksgiving at midnight.

Getting There: Take I-5 north for about 35 miles. Exit 200. The outlets are located in the Tulalip tribe’s Quil Ceda Village

North Bend Premium Outlets

Enjoy mountain views and impressive savings at 50 designer and name-brand outlet stores, including Adidas Clearance Store, Banana Republic, Coach, Gap Outlet, Nike, and Under Armour. Shoppers can sign up to receive a VIP coupon book at premiumoutlets.com/vip (also good at Seattle Premium Outlets). An added bonus for those who shop until they literally drop, there are lodging options nearby, including some that offer shopping gift cards to those who book a night.

Getting There: Take I-90 east for about 28 miles. Exit 31.

The Outlet Collection | Seattle

The Outlet Collection | Seattle is the largest indoor outlet mall in the Pacific Northwest. With a mix of 130 traditional & outlet stores it’s the ultimate outlet destination. Shop stores like Nike Factory Store, Nordstrom Rack, H&M, Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Coach, Brooks Brothers, Old Navy Outlet, Guess Factory, Adidas, ULTA Beauty and many more.

Getting There: Take 1-5 south to I-405 south. Take Exit 2 to WA-167 south toward Auburn. Exit to 15th Street SW then take a left on Outlet Collection Road.

Woodbury Common Premium Outlet

About an hour ride up north from Manhattan, you will find the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets . With more than 220 stores, this outlet in Central Valley is not only one of the most beautiful and largest outlets in New York but it’s one of the biggest in the world! You can pretty much do your shopping in New York here and at great prices as well. Instead of a regular shopping mall layout, Woodbury Outlets is designed like a small village where one shop borders another. Bargains are waiting for you behind each of those doors!

How to get to the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets

1. From the Port Authority Bus Terminal, take a bus operated by either ShortLine or Coach USA to Woodbury Commons and back

2. If you want to save yourself the hassle at Port Authority, you can also reserve seats on a direct shuttle from NYC to Woodbury. It departs on a regular schedule NYC Hotel on 45th Street ( Midtown Manhattan ).

You want to spoil yourself with a little luxury? How about a ride in a stretch limousine? Ride with up to seven people and get picked up at your hotel and driven to the Woodbury Outlet and back. A bottle of champagne is also included in the price!

Empire Outlets on Staten Island

Until May 2019, you had to leave the city as far as outlets in NYC were concerned. Now, you can also satisfy your shopping needs in New York’s often overlooked borough Staten Island . The best part? You can reach the Empire Outlets comfortably and free of charge in only 25 minutes.

More than 100 stores are located at The Empire Outlets, including popular brands like Nike, Levis, Guess, Converse, Banana Republic, H&M, GAP, True Religion, and many more stores. Of course, the selection of restaurants is just as big. Hungry shoppers can enjoy Shake Shack, Wasabi, Wetzels Pretzels and, of course, Starbucks.

How to get to the Empire Outlets on Staten Island

The best and easiest way to get to the Empire Outlets is to take the free Staten Island Ferry . You’ll be there in just about 25 minutes and can tick off a wonderful boat ride from your bucket list afterward, too. It even passes the Statue of Liberty !

Tanger Outlet Deer Park

The Tanger Outlets are located in the immediate vicinity of New York – about 1.5 to 2 hours away. And there are two on Long Island: the Riverhead and Deer Park Outlet. We know them personally from a shopping tour. At that time we rented a car and drove to these two places.

If you don’t have a rental car, you can take the LIRR Train to Deer Park LIRR station. You can buy your tickets to the Tanger Deer Park directly at the counter or at the ticket machines (gray or blue). The ticket includes the ride on the LIRR train and a short shuttle ride to the Tanger Outlets.

Tanger Outlet Riverhead

The Tanger Outlets Riverhead are located in East Long Island. The easiest way to get to the outlets is to rent a car, especially if you want to explore the Hamptons anyway.

Jersey Gardens Outlet Center

The Jersey Gardens Outlet is one of the most popular outlets near New York. With over 200 stores , Jersey Gardens boasts many well-known brands and great designers, including sportswear from Nike, Under Armor, Adidas and labels such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, Victoria’s Secret. Also, the high-fashion department store Saks Fifth Avenue is housed here. In addition to clothing, you can find jewelry, electronics, toys from Disney and Legos. If you want to catch a movie, then the in-house AMC movie theater will round up your shopping experience.

How to get to the Jersey Gardens Outlet

The Jersey Gardens Outlet can easily be reached by bus within half an hour for $14 round trip. The buses depart regularly from Port Authority Bus Terminal. Look for NJ Transit bus line #111 .
