EXTRAVAGANZA SINGAPORE TRIP Tour

EXTRAVAGANZA SINGAPORE TRIP

This tour was meant to be a group tour and I was charged an extra supplement for having my own room. Turns out I was the only one on the tour and that this had been outsourced to yet another company called Embassey alliance.I only found this out a day before the tour, had no idea of who my point of contact was and also the itinerary did not match the initial tour. Expensive for what it is and I have complained. Plus note is that drivers and guides are good at their job shame about management.

FASCINATING BALI & DELIGHTFUL SINGAPORE TRIP Tour

FASCINATING BALI & DELIGHTFUL SINGAPORE TRIP

What people love about singapore tours.

When I look back on the best things in my 2009 trip, it was a great adventure and it changed and challenged me. Some of the countries I visited were Iran, India and Tibet which were all amazing. I enjoyed the nights spent in bush camps with campfires and beers and the toiletries were prized possessions. I loved the tour and I am super excited for 2015.
I am lost for words on the experience I had. Over the the last six months that I travelled with Madventure, I saw amazing sights and did a lot of wonderful things. It was something I didn't thought I could afford as it was a good value for money. The crew were awesome, they were very professional and made me feel safe. Some days are tough but the experience was still very memorable not just because of the places but with the people that I get to share the experience with. Joining this tour was the most memorable time in my life.
We set off on a six months adventure last June 2014 after saving for two years visiting 27 countries. The trip was fun and it was everything that we hoped for. We were in a truck with other people who became like a family to us and shared with them experiences that lasts a lifetime. The crew were fantastic, especially the drivers Alan & Will who suffer long drive days while we sit in the back and the tour leader (Brenda) who was also awesome. I will definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to have an adventure and isn't afraid of getting dirty.

Which segment is the best to propose to your special half (if you intend to).

Taylor Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour’ concert has seen a fair share of proposals across many cities. While it may be a no-brainer to pick “You Belong With Me” and “Enchanted” for obvious reasons, discerning fans (and us) would suggest “Long Live”. The lyrics are self-explanatory. Here’s hoping for an increase in marriages and domestic birth rates after the Singapore leg concludes.

Ideal concert etiquette

Don’t be a prick or a nuisance to fellow Swifties. We all paid good money to hear her sing live, and not your screams. Furthermore, limit mobile use if you intend to film and not position your phone above eye level. It is also advisable to have ear plugs on to protect your hearing from the harmful effects of expected high decibel sounds.

Fringe activities at Marina Bay Sands

As an official concert partner to Taylor Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour’ in Singapore 2024, Marina Bay Sands has curated a series of new entertainment experiences for fans to take part in. These range from The Eras Tour light and water show on selected nights, The Eras Tour -inspired trail, facade light-up of Marina Bay Sands, and a retail pop-up store.

Some of these experiences require pre-registration. Head to Marina Bay Sands’ The Eras Tour microsite for more details.

Geography and environment.

Tiny Singapore occupies little more than a dot on the world map, although it's still not small enough to rate as one of the world's smallest. Located in South-East Asia on the southern end of the Malaysian Peninsula, most of Singapore is highly urbanized, with most residents living in flats and skyscrapers in built up areas. A small proportion (about 10%) of Singapore's land is dedicated to forests and agriculture, with the rest being considered developed, urban environments.

Best time to visit Singapore

Singapore has a typical tropical climate year round - hot and humid with equal amounts of sunshine and rain. The temperature range stays mostly in the 32 ° C (90 ° F) and rarely drops below 20 ° C (70 ° F) degrees at night. Although there are two monsoon seasons, rain is present year round, usually in the form of thunderstorms and short bursts of torrential rain. Thankfully the sun also shines year round - so although the weather can be unpredictable, the sun will usually prevail, making it the perfect vacation destination.

Top 5 food finds of Singapore

1. chili crab.

Singaporean Chili Crab   could be considered one of the world's favorite dishes from this region. Invented back in 1950, chili crab can now be found everywhere in Singapore - from high-end restaurants to simple hawker stalls. A must try when on holiday in Singapore.

2. Fish-head curry

This aromatic, spicy dish with a South Indian and Chinese heritage features a whole red snapper stewed in coconut milk, tamarind juice, spices and chili. The strong flavor and presence of a whole fish head may turn some people off, but for those with a strong stomach and desire for heat in their food, you can't go past this curry.

3. Chicken rice

This Hainanese-style Singaporean stalwart is unofficially considered Singapore's national dish. Featuring poached or fried chicken and steamed rice with sides of chicken stock, soy, and chili, this is the ideal dish for those wanting simple flavors and ingredients done well.

4. Ice cream sandwich

Head to the mobile ice cream carts located along Orchard Road to find this indulgent sweet treat. Traditional flavors (like chocolate and strawberry) get a run alongside more exotic flavors (durian or sweet corn ice cream anyone?). This slice of creamy sugar wrapped in sweet bread is the perfect antidote to the steamy Singaporean climate.

5. Fried carrot cake

No, this dish isn't made by putting a sweet carrot cake in a deep fryer. Rather, it's a popular savory meal in Singapore also known as Chai Tow Kuay. And it just gets stranger when you consider that there are no carrots in this dish, but rather white radish, garlic, chili and coriander. Oddities aside, this street-food favorite is a cheap and easy meat-free meal, a top choice for vegetarian travelers.

XG, which stands for Xtraordinary Girls, is a Japanese girl group that was established by Xgalx, a subsidiary of Avex, a notable entertainment company in Japan. The group, based in South Korea, is made up of seven talented members: Jurin, Chisa, Hinata, Juria, Cocona, Maya, and Harvey. They debuted on 18 March 2022, with the release of their digital single Tippy Toes .

The group’s name, Xtraordinary Girls, is a representation of their mission to inspire young people globally with their unique music and performances. The band started to gain attention with the launch of their social media accounts on 25 January 2022, and a video titled ‘Xgalx – The Beginning’ which spotlighted their journey through the Xgalx Project. Their pre-debut phase included various teasers such as rap and vocal covers, solo dance performances, and a dance video directed by South Korean dancer and choreographer, Choi Hyo-jin.

XG made their official debut with their all-English digital single Tippy Toes and followed it up with another single titled Mascara . Their debut performance on Mnet’s M Countdown in South Korea gained them significant attention. Later on, they went viral with a rap cypher video titled Galz Xypher that amassed 15 million views on TikTok.

In 2023, XG released their third all-English single, Shooting Star , and an additional track titled Left Right . They made history on 6 March 2023, by entering the Mediabase US Radio Top 40, a first for any Japanese female artist and group. Their journey continued with the release of Grl Gvng on 30 June 2023, which was a pre-release single for their debut EP, ‘New DNA’.

Yes, as you will be required to clear through Arrival Immigration. For a seamless experience, you are encouraged to complete the online  Singapore Arrival Card  within three (3) days prior to the date of arrival in Singapore.

For more information, please visit:  https://www.ica.gov.sg/enter-transit-depart/entering-singapore/sg-arrival-card

Yes, you can make a pre-booking of one (1) tour itinerary up to sixty (60) days prior to your intended tour date. Check if your layover coincides with the tour schedules before proceeding to our FST online booking page. You can select the preferred itinerary, date and time and proceed with your booking. Upon arrival, please report to the nearest Free Singapore Tour booth in the Transit Area (do not clear Arrival Immigration) at least 90 minutes prior to your tour timing.

Please refer to the Terms and Conditions of the Free Singapore Tour.

All Free Singapore Tour participants are required to sign off on an Indemnity Form when they report at the Free Singapore Tour service counter before your tour begins.

For all tours, passengers are required to report to the Free Singapore Tour booth(s) in the Transit Area 90 minutes before the start of the tour to check in and confirm their attendance. Tour check-in will close 75 minutes before the tour starts. After a short briefing, you will clear Arrival Immigration as a group.

The Free Singapore Tour is a guided tour for transit and transfer passengers of Changi Airport only. If you are visiting Singapore, you are not eligible for the Free Singapore Tour.

No, passengers who participate in the Free Singapore Tour are required to complete the entire tour programme, without breaking away from the group.

For the Changi Precinct, City Sights, and Heritage Tours: Participants will be transported back to Changi Airport. The drop-off points will include Terminal 2, Terminal 3 and Jewel.

For the Jewel Tour: You will have the option to stay in Jewel or follow your Tour Guide back to Terminal 3 at the end of the tour.

All passengers are responsible for their subsequent flight check-in and security procedures in the respective terminals.

No, passengers with a non-transit hotel booking are not allowed to join Free Singapore Tour.     As this complimentary service is for transit and transfer passengers at Changi Airport only, passengers with a long layover may wish to consider booking accommodation at Changi Airport’s full-fledged transit hotels . These transit hotels offer flexible block-hour rates and can be accessed easily before (if you arrive early) and after the tour (if you depart late).

The Jewel Walking Tour is wheelchair-accessible and stroller friendly. Passengers who require either use will need to fulfil the following requirements:

  • He or she is accompanied and assisted by a travel companion; and
  • He or she has their own wheelchair for the tour, as the airport or airline's equipment cannot be brought out of the airport premises

The Changi Precinct, City Sights, and Heritage Tours are not recommended for wheelchair users and stroller use due to the tour route.

You may join only one tour because transit passengers can only enter and exit Singapore once, as per guidelines by Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA). More information on each of the tour itineraries are available on the Free Singapore Tour website.

Passengers below 18 years old are not allowed to join the tour alone unless accompanied by an adult. All passengers have to sign an indemnity form prior to the tour and the indemnity requires signatories to be 18 years old and above.

In the unlikely event that participants are separated from the tour group, the particpant has to make his or her own way back to the airport at his or her own cost.

If you have further enquiries, please email  [email protected] . We will get back to you within 7 working days.

Singapore Travel Tips and Reminders

  • Travel time from Changi Airport to Singapore City Center by private car is around 30 minutes and around 45 minutes by train. Plan your trip accordingly.
  • You can exchange your Philippine Peso or US Dollars in the money changers at the airport or at the city center. Exchange rate at the airport is low, it's better to change your money at the city center. Alternatively, you can also withdarw money from the ATMs.
  • For electricity, most establishments and hotels use 3-pin square plugs and sockets at 220–240 V. Don't forget to bring a universal adapter.
  • If you're on a budget, avoid eating in restaurants. It's best to look for hawker stalls (like a food court) where you could eat a decent meal for around $3-5 SGD. The best hawkers that I could suggest are the ones around Chinatown area for its wide selection of tasty and affordable meals.
  • Weather in Singapore is most of the time hot and humid. It is suggested that you wear light and breathable clothes. Also, don't forget to bring an umbrella or raincoat for occasional rains and thunderstorms.
  • Singapore is a very walk-able city. When exploring the city, you will certainly walk a lot. It is best to wear comfortable footwear.
  • Taxis / Grab car/taxi are expensive. Choose a hotel that is near an MRT Station, so it will be easier for you to move around. With an MRT station near your hotel, it's cheaper to get to one destination to another, not to mention it's also faster.
  • Eating and drinking inside the bus and MRT is prohibited.
  • Chewing gum is not allowed in Singapore. Make sure you're not bringing-in any chewing gum when entering Singapore.
  • Cigarettes are too expensive in Singapore (around 400 pesos). You can bring cigarettes from the Philippines to Singapore, but don't bring too much. One opened pack and one sealed pack "may be" allowed.
  • GST refund can be availed by tourists on goods and services purchased in Singapore. Keep your receipts and refund it at the airport before your flight. This will save you more on travel expenses.
  • To save on travel expenses, book discounted tickets at Klook, join group tours, take the bus or the MRT, walk if you can, stay in hostels or budget hotels in Singapore , and take advantage of flight seat sales and promos .

Singlife Selects Oracle Exadata Database Service for Cloud Migration

Singapore’s top insurer moves core insurance applications to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and reduces related IT costs

singapore tour 2024

Singlife , a leading homegrown financial services company in Singapore, has moved part of its core insurance applications to Oracle Exadata Database Service on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). By moving more than 10 on-premises databases, Singlife enhanced the performance of its system and lowered related IT costs by over a third.

Singlife offers customers a comprehensive suite of insurance plans, employee benefits, partnerships with financial adviser channels and bancassurance and digital solutions such as the Singlife Account. Through innovative, technology-enabled solutions, it aims to provide consumers control over their financial wellbeing at every stage of their lives. It required an IT infrastructure that can improve the scalability and adaptability of its mission-critical insurance applications and provide actionable insights for better decision making. To meet these needs, Singlife selected Oracle Exadata Database Service on OCI for its scalability, availability, and security features.

“At Singlife, we provide consumers control over their financial wellbeing at every stage of their lives through innovative, technology-enabled solutions and a wide range of products and services. Cloud technology serves as a pivotal enabler that drives innovation and allows us to pioneer next-generation products and services, and positions Singlife at the forefront of the financial services industry,” said Romil Sharma, group head of technology and operations at Singlife. “The migration to Exadata Database Service on OCI has laid a solid foundation for us to harness emerging solutions such as Generative AI, propelling our growth trajectory and, most importantly, enhancing Singlife’s digitalisation journey.”

Oracle Exadata Database Service is an automated Oracle Database service running on the Exadata platform in OCI that allows organisations to run databases with the highest performance, availability, security, and cost effectiveness. With Exadata’s scale-out architecture and unique optimisations for transaction processing, analytics, and mixed workloads, Oracle databases run faster and with fewer resources, reducing costs.

In addition, Singlife is using Oracle Fusion Cloud Accounting Hub , part of Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) , to unify its accounting data across various systems to allow comprehensive financial decisions. This service equips Singlife’s finance team with enhanced data capabilities, facilitating increased forecasting accuracy, shortened reporting cycles, streamlined decision-making processes, and improved management of risk and compliance. Oracle Autonomous Database and Oracle Integration Services were used to support the integration.

“Singapore’s financial services technology landscape is thriving, backed by strong support from the government for ICT and innovation initiatives. Singlife’s evolution from a small insurtech startup to a key player in Singapore’s insurance and financial services industry underscores this dynamic environment,” said Chin Ying Loong, regional managing director, ASEAN & South Asia Growing Economies (SAGE), Oracle. “With OCI’s world-class architecture and the Exadata platform running Oracle databases at scale in the cloud, Singlife can boost its innovation capabilities and support its customers’ need for financial wellbeing.”

This project was implemented by DXC Technology , a long-time Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) member. “With our expertise in Oracle cloud deployments, DXC migrated Singlife’s mission-critical insurance applications to OCI, helping them to improve performance and manage costs, and enabling them to focus on innovation for their customers. Tech adoption in Singapore and the Southeast Asian insurance industry has accelerated particularly in the last few years, with more and more customers exiting data centers. Cloud and other new technologies are redefining IT strategies since they provide unparalleled flexibility and help organisations manage IT costs,” said Richard James, APAC managing director, Enterprise Application Services, DXC Technology.

Skytrax names the best airports of 2024 — and Singapore's Changi is no longer No. 1

S ingapore's Changi Airport has lost its pole position as the world's best airport to Doha's Hamad International Airport, according to air transport rating firm Skytrax.

This is the third time Hamad International Airport clinched the top spot, after winning the title in 2021 and 2022.

Travelers of more than 100 nationalities participated in the Skytrax survey, which also named Hamad International Airport as the best airport in the world for shopping.

Changi Airport has been crowned the world's best airport 12 times by Skytrax, including winning first place consecutively from 2013 to 2020, and again in 2023.

In this year's survey, the city-state's airport won the titles of "Best Airport in Asia" and the "World's Best Airport Immigration Service."

South Korea's Incheon International Airport rose to third place — from No. 4 in 2023 — and was named the world's most family-friendly airport for the year.

Tokyo's Haneda Airport came in fourth and was also named the "World's Cleanest Airport." It processed 70 million passengers in 2023 — the most of any airport on Skytrax's list — according to the company.

Tokyo's other major international airport, Narita International Airport, ranked No. 5 on the list. It was recognized for its customer service, winning the title of "World's Best Airport Staff."

The rankings are based on questionnaires sent to airport customers between August 2023 and March 2024. Passengers evaluated key airport services, such as check-in and transfer experiences, immigration clearance, shopping and departures.

Singapore Changi Airport falls to No. 2 in Skytrax's latest ranking.
