International Cheetah Day Tours

INTERNATIONAL CHEETAH DAY IS CLOSED FOR THIS YEAR.  JOIN OUR MAILING LIST TO LEARN ABOUT NEXT YEAR’S EVENTS.

We are celebrating International Cheetah Day with 3 very special tours featuring our cheetahs and the conservation organizations saving cheetahs in the wild.  After meeting our cheetahs, enjoy an educational, interactive and intimate tour of our facility that will highlight other animals from Africa along with other animals from around the world.

The tours will be on Sunday, December 4, at 10:00, 12:00, and 2:00 .  Tours will be limited to 15 people, 12 years of age or older, and the cost is $80/person.  A portion of the proceeds from these tours will go to Cheetah Outreach Trust and Cheetah Conservation Fund, our conservation partners.

Theatres in Moscow

Cultural life of Moscow city is various and rich! Operas, ballets, symphonic concerts... Russian composers have created some of the most beautiful classical music. Russian classical music is very popular in Moscow. It is performed in many beautiful historical venues. Do not forget to include a visit to a concert hall in your itinerary when you are planning your stay in Moscow! And do it in advance.

There are almost no restrictions on dress code in Russian theatres. Visitors may wear jeans and sports shoes, they may have a backpack with them. Only shorts are not allowed.

A typical feature of Russian theatre – visitors are bringing a lot of flowers which they present to their favorite performers after the show.

Here are some practical advices where to go and how to buy tickets.

The Bolshoi Theatre

The Bolshoi Theatre is the oldest, the most famous and popular opera and ballet theatre in Russia. The word “Bolshoi” means “big” in Russian. You can buy a ticket online in advance, 2-3 months before the date of performance on the official website . Prices for famous ballets are high: 6-8 thousand rubles for a seat in stalls. Tickets to operas are cheaper: you can get a good seat for 4-5 thousand rubles. Tickets are cheaper for daytime performances and performances on the New Stage. The New Stage is situated in the light-green building to the left of the Bolshoi's main building. The quality of operas and ballets shown on the New Stage is excellent too. However, you should pay attention that many seats of the Bolshoi’s Old and New Stages have limited visibility . If you want to see the Bolshoi’s Old Stage but all tickets are sold out, you can order a tour of the theatre. You can book such a tour on the official website.

If you want, following Russian tradition, to give flowers to the performers at the end of the show, in the Bolshoi flowers should be presented via special staff who collects these flowers in advance.

In August the Bolshoi is closed.

The Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre

This theatre is noteworthy. On one hand, it offers brilliant classical opera and ballet performances. On the other hand, it is an experimental venue for modern artists. You can check the program and buy tickets online here http://stanmus.com/ . If you are opera lover, get a ticket to see superstar Hibla Gerzmava . The theatre has a very beautiful historic building and a stage with a good view from every seat. Tickets are twice cheaper than in the Bolshoi.

The Novaya Opera

“Novaya” means “New” in Russian. This opera house was founded in 1991 by a famous conductor Eugene Kolobov. Its repertoire has several directions: Russian and Western classics, original shows and divertissements, and operas of the 20th and 21st centuries. It is very popular with Muscovites for excellent quality of performances, a comfortable hall, a beautiful Art Nouveau building and a historic park Hermitage, which is situated right next to it. Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Center

The Opera Center has become one of the best theatrical venues in Moscow. It was founded in 2002 by great diva Galina Vishnevskaya. Nowadays its artistic director is Olga Rostropovich, daughter of Galina Vishnevskaya and her husband Mstislav Rostropovich, great cellist and conductor. Not only best young opera singers perform here, but also world music stars do; chamber and symphonic concerts, theatrical productions and musical festivals take place here. Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and The Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory

These are two major concert halls for symphonic music in Moscow. Both feature excellent acoustics, impressive interior, various repertoire and best performers. Moscow International Performing Arts Center (MIPAC)

This modern and elegant concert hall houses performances of national and foreign symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, solo instrumentalists, opera singers, ballet dancers, theatre companies, jazz bands, variety and traditional ensembles. Actually, it has three concert halls placed on three different levels and having separate entrances. The President of MIPAC is People’s Artist of the USSR Vladimir Spivakov, conductor of “Virtuosy Moskvy” orchestra. You can see pictures of the concert halls here http://www.mmdm.ru/en/content/halls . Concrete Boys Announce 'It's Us Tour'

Kicking off in june..

After carefully constructing a captivating world on It’s Us Vol. 1 , the Concrete Boys are ready to go on tour. The Lil Yachty -led collective officially announced the It’s Us Tour this morning, which sees the group making 13 stops throughout North America this June.

KARRAHBOOO , Camo!, Draft Day and Dc2trill are set to kick off the tour on June 6 in Miami, Florida. It’s Us will then see stops in Houston, Los Angeles, Toronto, New York and Denver before closing out in Atlanta on June 29. Find the full list of dates and venues listed below.

TV Soundtracks With the Most Weeks at No. 1 on the Top Soundtracks Chart

Hazbin Hotel is unique among the longest-running No. 1 soundtracks for two reasons.

Hazbin Hotel: Season One has been No. 1 on Billboard ’s Top Soundtracks chart for 11 consecutive weeks – its entire run on that chart so far. It’s already one of the 10 longest-running soundtracks from a TV show in that chart’s nearly 33-year history.

Hazbin Hotel is unique among the longest-running No. 1 soundtracks for two reasons. It’s a soundtrack to a property that is aimed at older teens and adults, rather than one aimed at tweens, young teens or families. And the show streams on Amazon Prime Video. Of the 10 TV soundtracks with the longest runs at No. 1 on Top Soundtracks, eight were from projects that aired on The Disney Channel. (The leader on our list is from a show that aired on a legacy network, CBS. Can you guess what it is? I think you’ll agree that it’s a worthy leader for a list like this.)

Hazbin Hotel  is an animated musical comedy series that was created by Vivienne “VivziePop” Medrano.  The pilot episode was released on YouTube on Oct. 28, 2019. The first season premiered on Amazon Prime Video on Jan. 18, with its first episode also released on YouTube that same day for a limited release. The series stars  Stephanie Beatriz , Alex Brightman, Keith David and Kimiko Glenn. You may remember that Beatriz topped the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks in 2022 as a featured member of the Encanto cast with “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.”

Note: This list reflects activity on the Top Soundtracks chart, which originated in May 1991. It doesn’t include TV soundtracks that pre-date the inception of that chart, such as Henry Mancini’s Music From Peter Gunn and the Miami Vice soundtrack, unless they continued as chart leaders since 1991.

Here’s a look at all TV soundtracks that have topped Billboard ’s Top Soundtracks chart for nine or more weeks. They are listed in ascending order.

The Cheetah Girls 2

Weeks at No. 1 on Top Soundtracks: Nine

Billboard 200 peak: No. 5

TV premiere date: Aug. 25, 2006

Network: The Disney Channel

Notes: The Cheetah Girls 2  was the sequel to the 2003 Disney Channel film The Cheetah Girls . Both projects starred The Cheetah Girls and Raven-Symoné. Directed by genre GOAT Kenny Ortega, the sequel is about the quartet taking a whirlwind tour of Spain to pursue their dreams of pop superstardom. Its premiere received the highest ratings of all Disney Channel Movies to that point, with more than 8.1 million viewers. The album spawned The Cheetah Girls’ Hot 100 hits “Strut” (No. 53) and “The Party’s Just Begun” (No. 85).

Lemonade Mouth

Billboard 200 peak: No. 4

TV premiere date: April 15, 2011

Notes: Bridgit Mendler, Adam Hicks, Naomi Scott, Hayley Kiyoko and Blake Michael starred in this film, about five high school students who meet in detention and form a band. It was more dramatic and less purely escapist than most Disney Channel projects. The film, based on the 2007 novel of the same name, was directed by Patricia Riggen. The soundtrack spawned three Hot 100 hits: “Determinate” (No. 51), “Breakthrough” (No. 88) and “Somebody” (No. 89), the latter credited to Mendler.

Teen Beach Movie

Weeks at No. 1 on Top Soundtracks: 10

Billboard 200 peak: No. 3

TV premiere date: July 19, 2013

Notes: The title couldn’t have been more generic, but, hey, it worked! Jeffrey Hornaday directed the film, which starred Ross Lynch and Maia Mitchell. The album spawned the Hot 100 hit “Cruisin’ for a Brusin’” (featuring Lynch, Grace Phipps and Jason Evigan) (No. 82). A sequel,  Teen Beach 2 , premiered on June 26, 2015.

Descendants

Weeks at No. 1 on Top Soundtracks: 11

Billboard 200 peak: No. 1 (one week)

TV premiere date: July 31, 2015

Notes: Ortega also directed and choreographed this musical fantasy film, which starred Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson, Booboo Stewart and Cameron Boyce as the teenage children of Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Jafar and Cruella de Vil, respectively. The film also starred Kathy Najimy and Kristin Chenoweth. The soundtrack entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1 in August 2015. Cameron’s “If Only” reached No. 94 on the Hot 100. The soundtracks to two sequels also made the top 10 on the Billboard 200.

Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus

TV premiere date: April 23, 2007

Notes: Long before “Wrecking Ball” and “Flowers” took her to the top of the Hot 100, Miley Cyrus played Miley Stewart on the weekly teen sitcom, Hannah Montana . As the title of this double album suggests, this was half Hannah Montana TV soundtrack and half Miley Cyrus studio album. This was the second Hannah Montana soundtrack in a row to enter the Billboard 200 at No. 1. Nine songs from the album made the Hot 100, six credited to Hannah Montana and three to Miley. The highest-charting and most notable of them was “See You Again,” a mainstream pop single, billed to Miley, that cracked the top 10. Miley was on her way, though who then could have guessed how big she would become?

Hazbin Hotel: Season One

TV premiere date: Jan. 18, 2024

Network: Amazon Prime Video

Notes: The music for Hazbin Hotel (Original Soundtrack)  was composed by Andrew Underberg and Sam Haft. Several songs from the soundtrack have bubbled under the Hot 100, including “Poison,” “Stayed Gone,” “Loser, Baby” and “Hell’s Greatest Dad.” “Poison,” credited to Blake Roman, Sam Haft & Andrew Underberg, has climbed as high as No. 14 on Billboard ’s Hot Rock and Alternative Songs.

As Billboard ’s Xander Zellner detailed in January : “Roman is the vocalist on ‘Poison,’ and also a voice actor in the series, while Haft and Underberg are composers. Haft is also half of the electronic duo The Living Tombstone, which charted multiple songs on  Billboard ’s rankings in November from the  Five Nights at Freddy’s  series. Underberg has composed musical numbers for several children’s movies and TV shows.”

High School Musical 2

Weeks at No. 1 on Top Soundtracks: 17

Billboard 200 peak: No. 1 (four weeks)

TV premiere date: Aug. 17, 2007

Notes: This was the 70th Disney Channel original movie and immediately became the most successful. In the U.S.,  High School Musical 2  attracted 17 million viewers for its premiere broadcast, smashing the old record by more than 10 million. The soundtrack topped the Billboard 200 for four weeks, one of only two albums to achieve that feat in 2007 (the other was Josh Groban’s Noel, which went on to log a fifth week on top in January 2008). Eight songs from the soundtrack made the Hot 100, topped by “What Time Is It,” which reached No. 6.

Like the first High School Musical from 2006, this was directed by Kenny Ortega and written by Peter Barsocchini. The final installment of the series,  High School Musical 3: Senior Year , was released theatrically in October 2008.

Hannah Montana

Weeks at No. 1 on Top Soundtracks: 21

Billboard 200 peak: No. 1 (two weeks)

TV premiere date: March 24, 2006

Notes: This soundtrack entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1 in November 2006 (ahead of debuting albums by My Chemical Romance and John Legend) and remained on top the following week. Eight songs from the soundtrack made the Hot 100, topped by “If We Were a Movie,” which peaked at No. 47.

High School Musical

Weeks at No. 1 on Top Soundtracks: 26

TV premiere date: Jan. 20, 2006

Notes: Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Alyson Reed, Corbin Bleu, and Monique Coleman starred in this film, which was directed by Ortega. The soundtrack logged two nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in March and April 2006. Nine songs from the soundtrack made the Hot 100, with “Breaking Free” by Efron and Hudgens reaching No. 4. In the U.S.,  High School Musical  generated 7.7 million viewers in its premiere broadcast, breaking the then-record for the highest premiere for the network.

Vince Guaraldi Trio, A Charlie Brown Christmas

Weeks at No. 1 on Top Soundtracks: 29

Billboard 200 peak: No. 6

TV premiere date: Dec. 9, 1965

Network: CBS

Notes:   A Charlie Brown Christmas was the first TV special based on Charles Schultz’s popular comic strip  Peanuts , which originated in 1950. The program featured a jazz score by pianist Vince Guaraldi, previously best known for composing and performing the 1962 instrumental hit “Cast Your Fate to the Wind.” The program’s somewhat downbeat tone, its slow pacing, the jazz score and the lack of a laugh track led many to think the show would fail to find an audience. Far from it: Both the TV special and the soundtrack album are classics. The program won an Emmy for outstanding children’s program and a Peabody Award, while the soundtrack was voted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2007 and the National Recording Registry in 2011.

Two of Guaraldi’s compositions have made the top 40 on the Hot 100. “ Linus and Lucy (Peanuts Theme)” reached No. 37. “ Christmas Time Is Here ” hit No. 39. The album also included such outside compositions as Beethoven’s “Für Elise” and Ernst Anschütz’s “O Tannenbaum.” The only sad note in this story is that Guaraldi died at a relatively young age. He was 47 when he died of a sudden heart attack in 1976.

Get ready for a taste of some delicious Irish whiskey, Toronto! That's right, Jameson's iconic Distillery Tour   is coming to the city for a limited-edition pop-up and you simply cannot skip it.

We're talking live music from local bands, master whiskey cooper demonstrations, deliciously crafted cocktails, good vibes and more! 

For more than two centuries, Jameson has been crafting delicious Irish whiskey and now they're bringing their award-winning Bow St. Distillery from Ireland all the way to Toronto for an immersive tour stop.

Touching down at STACKT Market from May 2 to May 12, the Jameson Distillery on Tour  kicks off with a legendary live instrumentation and DJ set by none other than Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning of Broken Social Scene! 

This interactive distillery experience and free performance is meant for the city to come together   (19+)   and enjoy the exceptional taste and tradition of one of the world's smoothest whiskeys. 

An award-winning experience

This is Toronto's first time experiencing the Jameson Distillery on Tour after successful trips to New York, Mumbai, and Johannesburg .

You'll find the tour housed inside a series of custom shipping containers, with a packed schedule of specialty whiskey tastings, live gigs from local bands and DJs, and cocktail masterclasses throughout the activation.

Running from May 2 to May 12, with tours available from noon to 5 p.m., you can reserve your spot online.

Live barrel charring

For the first week of the tour, fifth-generation Jameson Master Cooper  Ger Buckley, will be flying in from Ireland to demonstrate the art of charring barrels — with a flamethrower — to house the whiskey as it matures, locking in Jameson's famous smooth taste.

Guests will actually feel the char's heat and smell the whiskey's  vanilla notes through this demo.

Learn about the intricate process of crafting one of Toronto's most loved whiskeys and dive headfirst into the Jameson spirit. Drinks and merchandise are available for purchase while the tour and tasting itself are free to experience.

Live entertainment 

Jameson is also providing platforms for Toronto musicians to perform, from emerging artists to headlining acts.

Musicians will take the stage throughout the two-week tour stop in a nod to the Irish busking tradition but with a special Toronto twist. Don't miss out on local acts tearing up the stage like Jane Inc., Pkew Pkew Pkew, and ISO Radio DJs, to name a few.
