In linea generale, tutto quello che devi fare è accedere alle impostazioni del browser sul quale hai installato l’adblocker e premere sull’opzione per disattivarlo totalmente. A questo punto, individua la sezione Attive e sposta la levetta relativa all’ estensione che usi per il blocco delle pubblicità da ON a OFF , per disattivarla e consentire nuovamente la visualizzazione della pubblicità. Premendo sull’icona dei tre puntini relativa all’estensione in questione e scegliendo l’opzione Rimuovi dal menu apertosi, puoi anche cancellarla definitivamente.

Se, invece, preferisci disattivare il blocco delle pubblicità solo su specifici siti, anche in questo caso non devi far altro che collegarti al sito di tuo interesse, cliccare sull’ icona dell’estensione per il blocco delle pubblicità e premere sul pulsante per consentire le pubblicità esclusivamente sul sito in questione.

Se utilizzi Opera per navigare su Internet, probabilmente già saprai che il browser in questione integra un sistema di blocco delle pubblicità senza dover installare estensioni di terze parti, che puoi gestire accedendo alla sezione Estensioni di Opera.

AdBlock è una popolare estensione di filtraggio dei contenuti per i principali browser Web come Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Opera e Microsoft Edge.

In this case, you must first turn off the content blockers and uninstall the extensions. This will help do away with ad blockers in Safari on your Mac. Here’s how:

1. Using Website Settings

Step 1: Open Safari and go to the menu options. Here, click on Safari.

Step 2: Then click on Settings.

Step 3: From the menu options, select Websites.

Step 4: Then click on Content Blockers from the left-side menu.

Step 5: Here, use the currently opened website’s drop-down menu and change it to Off. This will help you disable ad block on many websites at once.

Step 6: Or, if you wish to disable it for all the websites, go down and click on the ‘When visiting other websites’ drop-down.

Step 7: Then, select Off.

This will disable the native content blockers for all websites, regardless of whether they’re currently open. If you have any external ad block extensions installed, they will continue to function accordingly. In this case, use the extensions settings to disable them separately. Here’s how.

2. Disabling Extensions

Step 1: Open Safari on your Mac. Then, from the menu options, click on Safari.

How to Disable AdBlock on Major Web Browsers

AdBlock is a popular content filtering extension for major web browsers like Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and Microsoft Edge.

We also reviewed this extension in our best ad blocker roundup. As the name suggests, its main function is to block unwanted and annoying advertisements from being displayed when you surf the Internet.

However, installing AdBlock prevents you from accessing websites whose revenue are driven by display ads. For example, I wanted to visit CNN but ran into this warning instead.

I can easily whitelist those sites, but it’s going to be very time-consuming because I don’t know which sites are like CNN and which are not. Also, I want to ensure I never run into this problem again. So today, I am going to show you how to disable or remove AdBlock in commonly used browsers, step by step.

This guide is best for those of you who want to temporarily disable Adblock because you need access to a certain website, but you plan to enable it later on in order not to get spammed by those annoying advertisements.

How to Disable AdBlock on Chrome

Note: The tutorial below is based on Chrome for macOS. If you are using Chrome on a Windows PC or an iOS or Android device, the interfaces will look slightly different but the processes should be similar.

Step 1: Open the Chrome browser and go to Extensions. You can do this by clicking the three vertical dots located at the top-right corner of your browser. Then click More Tools and Extension .

Step 2: Toggle your AdBlock off. Depending on how many extensions you’ve added to Chrome, it may take you a while to locate “Adblock”. I’ve only installed five plugins, so it’s quite easy to spot the AdBlock icon.

Step 3: If you want to remove AdBlock for good, not just temporarily disable it, simply click the Remove button.

Alternatively, you can click on the AdBlock icon at the top-right corner beside the three vertical dots, then hit Pause on this site .

Note: I’m using Safari on an Apple MacBook Pro, thus the screenshots are taken on Safari for macOS. If you’re using the Safari browser on a PC or an iPhone/iPad, the interface will be different. However, the processes should be similar.

Step 1: Open the Safari browser. Click the Safari menu at the top-left corner of your screen, followed by Preferences .

Step 2: Go to the Extensions tab on the new window that pops up, then simply uncheck AdBlock and it will be disabled.

Step 3: If you want to permanently remove AdBlock from Safari, click Uninstall .

Similar to Chrome, you don’t have to necessarily go to Settings . You can disable AdBlock for just one website. To do so, locate the icon on the left side of the address bar. Click Don’t run on this page and you’re all set.

Note: I’m using Firefox for Mac. If you use Firefox for Windows 10, iOS, or Android, the interface will look different but the processes should be quite similar.

Step 1: Open your Firefox browser, click Tools at the top of your screen, and then click Add-ons .

Step 2: Click Extensions . A window with all your installed extensions will appear. Then, disable AdBlock.

Step 3: If you want to permanently remove AdBlock from Firefox, simply hit the Remove button (right next to Disable ).

If you are using Microsoft Edge (or Internet Explorer) on a PC, you can also turn off AdBlock easily. Just follow the steps below. Note: Since I only have a Mac, I let my teammate JP finish this part. He uses an HP laptop (Windows 10) which has Adblock Plus installed.

Step 1: Open the Edge browser. Click the three-dot setting icon and select Extensions .

Step 2: Find the AdBlock extension and click the geared setting icon.

Step 3: Toggle AdBlock from on to off. If you want to completely remove this ad blocker extension, hit the Uninstall button below.

Note: I’m using Opera for Mac as an example. The screenshots below will look different if you use the Opera browser on a PC or mobile device, but the processes should be similar.

Step 1: Open your Opera browser. On the top menu bar, click View > Show Extensions .

Step 2: You will be directed to a page that shows you all the extensions you’ve installed. Find the AdBlock plugin and hit Disable .

Step 3: If you wish to remove AdBlock from your Opera browser, you can do so by clicking on the cross at the top right-hand corner of the white area.

As with the other browsers not mentioned here, you can simply disable AdBlock without having to go to your settings. The Adblock icon should be located at the top-right of your browser. Just click on the icon, and then hit Pause AdBlock .

That’s it! As you can see, the method is similar for each web browser. You just have to locate your browser’s extension page and then you can either disable or remove AdBlock.

Adblocker advert pop-ups continuously on my computer. They are more frequent and more annoying than pop-up adds. Because of these constant popup adblocker adds, I will never subscribe for Adblock.

I turned off unlock ad still not working

I’m gonna transport back to 2010 before all this “ab blocking” b.s. That should do the trick.

BTW…does anyone have a working transporter available? Mine’s not quite finished yet.

I do not have ad block on chrome. The site still wants me to disable what isn’t there. So what do I do?

I have been watching SBS on Demand without any problems, but today I get a message saying that there is a problem, and I should remove or disable an adblocker. I have never installed one of these. I can still access SBS on Demand on my TV. What can I do?

I have removed all of my ad blocker programs, but still get the warning msg on Firefox and Chrome. I am beginning to believe that there is something in the registry left over which is triggering the warning! But What? I have tried uninstalling the browsers and re-installing them with no luck. Is there a common file in the blocker programs which might make the browsers think I still have an ad block program installed?

P.S. The ads that are blocked are inside text of news articles. I have plenty of ads, but I’ve become totally blind to them. So why does the film company insist that I turn off my ad blocker.

for those who does not have the adblock, you can disable it this way: beside the url is a padlock icon (eg. (lock) google.com). click that icon and go to SITE SETTINGS. in the SETTINGS, scroll down the page until you see the ADS option and then select the drop down arrow across it and select ALLOW. the ads will now be allowed on the site you needed. note: i am a google chrome user. i don’t know if this is applicable for other browsers.

I don’t believe you can remove ad blocker from Edge. Don’t know where you get your “info” you are sharing with everyone, but you need to make something else up.

Qualora sfruttaste Adguard AdBlocker , invece, recatevi sempre alla pagina principale del portale Web su cui desiderate disabilitare il blocco della pubblicità, cliccate sull’ icona dell’estensione presente in alto e scegliete Disabilita filtraggio su questo sito Internet dal menu che si apre.

Usate Ghostery ? Per procedere con la disattivazione, pigiate sul pulsante Attendibile/Lista bianca dopo aver pigiato sull’ icona dell’add-on presente sempre in alto. Infine, se utilizzate Fair AdBlocker , pigiate sull’icona dell’estensione posta in alto e dopodiché premete sul bottone Whitelist Site dal menu visualizzato.

L'estensione può essere utilizzata nei principali browser web come Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge e Opera. La funzione principale di AdBlock è quella di bloccare qualsiasi pubblicità indesiderabile e fastidiosa che appare durante la navigazione in Internet..

Gli strumenti di ad blocker tra cui AdBlock possono rimuovere automaticamente qualsiasi pubblicità online indesiderata quando si utilizza un browser web. In generale, può bloccare banner web, finestre pop-up, audio incorporato e video.

Lo strumento funziona interrompendo la connessione tra i fornitori di contenuti e le reti di terze parti. Gli script di tracciamento sono bloccati durante l'attività web.

Quali sono i vantaggi?

A seconda del browser Web che si sta utilizzando, ci sono dei passi da seguire come disabilitare AdBlock correttamente sul browser Web che si sta utilizzando.

1. Come disabilitare AdBlock su Chrome

Diamo prima un'occhiata a come disabilitare AdBlock su Chrome per macOS. Nel caso in cui si utilizzi il browser Chrome su un PC Windows o un dispositivo Android o iOS, l'interfaccia potrebbe apparire leggermente diversa ma il processo è sempre lo stesso.

Ecco come devi fare per disattivare Adblock su Chrome:

• Apri Chrome e procedi a Estensioni . Basta toccare i tre punti verticali che puoi trovare nell'angolo in alto a destra del browser. Toccare "Altri strumenti" e poi "Estensione".
• Disattiva AdBlock . Ricorda che se hai aggiunto diverse estensioni al tuo browser Chrome, ci vorrà del tempo per individuare "AdBlock". Per coloro che hanno installato alcuni plugin, è facile trovare l'icona AdBlock.
• Se decidi di rimuovere AdBlock per sempre, devi toccare "Rimuovi" .

In alternativa, puoi toccare l'icona AdBlock che si trova nell'angolo in alto a destra dell'interfaccia proprio accanto ai tre punti verticali, poi tocca "Pausa su questo sito".

2. Come disattivare AdBlock su Safari

Se stai utilizzando Safari come browser web principale su Mac, segui semplicemente questi passaggi per disattivare AdBlock sul tuo dispositivo. Nel caso tu stia utilizzando Safari su PC Windows o un dispositivo iOS, l'interfaccia è diversa ma il processo dovrebbe essere simile.

Per disattivare Adblock su Safari:

• Apri il tuo browser Safari . Tocca il menu di Safari che puoi trovare nell'angolo in alto a sinistra dello schermo e vai a Preferenze.
• Passa alla scheda Estensioni sulla nuova finestra che si apre. Deseleziona AdBlock per disabilitarlo sul tuo browser.
• Nel caso in cui si desidera rimuovere AdBlock in modo permanente da Safari, è necessario toccare Disinstalla/Rimuovi .

Proprio come con Chrome, non è necessario andare su Impostazioni. Puoi disattivare AdBlock solo per un singolo sito web. Puoi farlo trovando l'icona sul lato sinistro della barra degli indirizzi. Toccare "Non correre su questa pagina" per disabilitare la sua funzione su quel sito Web specifico.

3. Come disabilitare AdBlock su Firefox

Ecco come disabilitare Adblock su Firefox:

• Apri il tuo browser Firefox . Toccare Strumenti nella parte superiore dello schermo. Tocca Componente aggiuntivo.
• Tocca Estensioni . Si aprirà una finestra che mostra tutte le estensioni installate. Cerca AdBlock e disabilitalo.
• Se decidi di disinstallare AdBlock definitivamente da Firefox, devi toccare Rimuovi . È proprio accanto a Disabilita.

4. Come disattivare AdBlock su Opera

Il processo dovrebbe essere simile per disattivare Adblock su Opera:

• Apri Opera . Sulla barra dei menu in alto, tocca Visualizza e poi su Mostra estensioni.
• A questo punto, verrai indirizzato a una pagina che ti presenterà con tutte le estensioni che sono state installate. Cerca il plugin AdBlock e tocca su Disabilita .
• Se vuoi rimuovere AdBlock in modo permanente dal tuo browser Opera, semplicemente tocca sulla croce nell'angolo in alto a destra dell'area bianca.

5. Come disattivare AdBlock su Microsoft Edge

Per disattivare o disabilitare Adblock su Microsoft Edge:

• Apri il tuo browser Microsoft Edge . Tocca l'icona a tre punti e poi su Estensioni.
• Cerca l'estensione AdBlock e tocca l'icona di impostazione orientata .
• Disattiva AdBlock. Nel caso in cui decidessi di rimuoverlo definitivamente dal tuo browser, puoi toccare il pulsante di disinstallazione .

6. Disabilitare Adblocksu altri browser Internet

Proprio come con altri browser Web non menzionati, puoi disabilitare facilmente AdBlock senza andare alla pagina delle impostazioni. Nella maggior parte dei casi, l'icona AdBlock dovrebbe trovarsi nella parte superiore destra del browser web. Basta toccare l'icona e poi cliccare "Metti in pausa/Rimuovi AdBlock" .

Parte 3. Strumento consigliato per gestire plugin e estensioni

Si consiglia di utilizzare la funzione " Estensioni " di PowerMyMac per gestire servizi come plug-in o estensioni sul Mac o sui browser. Ad esempio, si può usare per disattivare o attivare AdBlock.

• Apri PowerMyMac e fai clic su Estensioni

Moltissimi siti richiedono di disattivare Adblock per poter essere visitati. Vediamo come fare su Chrome, Safari e gli altri browser più famosi.

Per vedere questo contenuto vi chiediamo di disattivare Adblock . Una frase che, in un modo o nell’altro, sempre più siti presentano a chi ha deciso di  impedire la visualizzazione delle pubblicità . Il motivo per cui questi siti lo fanno (compreso Newsmondo.it) è semplice: la pubblicità è l’unica fonte di guadagno di questi servizi. Disattivare Adblock per un sito: la scelta migliore

Praticamente tutti gli adblocker hanno la possibilità di essere disattivati anche per un solo sito. Una funzione prevista proprio per permetterci di visualizzare le pubblicità solo sui siti che ci interessano, senza farci invadere dal malware quando finiamo su pagine poco raccomandabili. Vediamo nel dettaglio come disattivare i blocchi pubblicitari con i principali adblocker

Disattivare Adblock: si comincia con l’originale

Se il sito che stiamo visitando ci mostra la richiesta di disattivare Adblock o comunque il nostro adblocker,  facciamo clic sull’icona di Adblock accanto alla barra dell’indirizzo. Possiamo scegliere diverse opzioni. Se scegliamo di mettere in pausa, il blocco pubblicitario sarà disabilitato  fino a quando chiudiamo la scheda corrente . La scelta più comoda è  Non abilitare sulle pagine di questo sito , che rende lo sblocco permanente.

La versione originale di AdBlock è l’unica che chiede ancora una seconda conferma. Facciamo clic su  Escludi per confermare la disattivazione del blocco pubblicitario.

Come disablitare Adblock Plus

Una volta fatto clic la finestrella si chiuderà ma se la riapriamo vedremo che lo stato è passato a  disattivato su questo sito . Aggiorniamo la pagina che stiamo visitando e vedremo che funziona normalmente.

Come disattivare l’adblock se abbiamo uBlock Origin

Anche in questo caso, il meccanismo è analogo, cambia solo il modo in cui è rappresentata la funzione. Partiamo sempre dall’icona dell’estensione  accanto alla barra degli indirizzi e facciamo clic. In questo caso dobbiamo solo  premere il grosso tasto azzurro e ricaricare la pagina subito dopo.

Abbiamo disattivato gli Ad Blocker ma la pagina non si carica? Attenzione alle altre estensioni

Oggi ci sono numerosissime estensioni che controllano i dati inviati ai siti pubblicitari, anche alcune che non sono adblocker in senso stretto ma vengono viste come tali dai sistemi di controllo. Un esempio su tutte è  Ghostery , un estensione di controllo della privacy che non interviene direttamente sui “banner”, ma sugli strumenti di tracciamento. Se abbiamo spento correttamente il nostro adblocker ma il sito ci richiede ancora di sbloccarlo, facciamo clic sull’icona di Ghostery e scegliamo la voce  Considera il sito affidabile .

Come regola generale, teniamo conto che  tutte le estensioni di questo tipo , che siano adblocker o controlli della privacy , dispongono di una funzione per considerare un sito affidabile . E in genere basta fare clic sull’icona per avere la possibilità di modificare l’impostazione.

Disattivare Adblock su Safari

Anche per quanto riguarda il mondo Apple, il meccanismo ormai è piuttosto standard. Cambia solo la posizione dell’icona, che in questo caso si trova  a sinistra della barra degli indirizzi . Per il resto dobbiamo solo aprire la finestra dell’estensione e scegliere l’opzione  non attivare sulle pagine di questo dominio .

Disattivare gli adblock: consigli generali

Proprio per questo, visto che esistono  decine di estensioni  e decine di browser è praticamente impossibile fare una lista completa di tutti i casi. Abbiamo scelto di mostrare principalmente come disabilitare gli adblock su Chrome perché al momento il browser di Google è ancora quello più diffuso, ma il meccanismo è analogo praticamente per tutte le estensioni e tutti i programmi di navigazione, a meno di “casi disperati” in cui il computer, il browser o l’estensione sono davvero molto datati. Ecco alcuni consigli generali da utilizzare se ci viene richiesto di disattivare Adblock e non ci orientiamo con gli esempi.

Come prima cosa, cerchiamo l’icona

A prescindere dal browser e dal tipo di adblocker che abbiamo installato, l’icona sarà in vista. Se ne vediamo più di una e non le riconosciamo, in genere basta un click per capire di cosa si tratta.

Ricordiamoci di ricaricare il sito

Non tutte le estensioni lo fanno in automatico, quindi dopo averlo disabilitato potremmo vedere ancora la pagina bloccata. Aggiorniamola (ricarichiamola): le cose molto probabilmente andranno a posto.

Adblock… non si chiama Adblock!

Non tutti gli ad blocker hanno un nome facilmente riconducibile alla funzione e, soprattutto se ci siamo fatti aiutare da un amico o un parente esperto, potremmo non ricordarci come si chiama l’estensione che usiamo. Privacy Badger  per esempio è l’estensione adblocker della Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Disattivare adblock Android: questione di App

Le cose si fanno un po’ più complesse nella funzione, ma più semplici nella soluzione, quando abbiamo a che fare con  smartphone e tablet Android . In questo caso infatti gli adblocker sono praticamente sempre  browser dedicati o più in generale  App pensate per la privacy . Quindi, dal momento che la loro funzione è chiara ed evidente, è sufficiente seguire questi due consigli.

Se stiamo usando un browser particolare proviamo a navigare il sito con quello predefinito.

Se abbiamo installato un’App che blocca la pubblicità globalmente dovremo verificare le impostazioni ed escludere il sito, o i siti. In alternativa dobbiamo disabilitare temporaneamente o disinstallare la App.

Cosa sono gli adblock o ad blocker?

Nella loro versione più comune sono  estensioni del browser , cioè funzionalità aggiuntive che tutti possono installare e utilizzare. Gli adblock prendono il nome dalla prima estensione di questo tipo, che si chiamava appunto Adblock, che esiste ancora ed è ancora una delle più diffuse insieme al “cugino” Adblock Plus. Oggi ce ne sono molte, che funzionano in modi diversi, ma il principio rimane lo stesso: queste estensioni “filtrano” la pagina web che viene inviata al nostro browser, ed eliminano i contenuti pubblicitari, di solito bloccandone la visualizzazione.

Normalmente queste estensioni applicano una politica  restrittiva per cui, appena installate, bloccano tutta la pubblicità. Ma, come abbiamo visto, dispongono tutte di “liste bianche” o “sblocchi temporanei” che permettono di disattivare il blocco pubblicitario senza bisogno di disinstallare l’estensione.

Vediamo, quindi, insieme le modalità con cui è possibile disattivare adblock all’interno dei browser più comunemente usati dagli utenti del Web.

Google Chrome

Una delle ricerche più frequenti a riguardo di questa tematica è “come disattivare adblock su Google” oppure “disattivare adblock Chrome” .

Come disattivare Adblock su Google Chrome? È necessario effettuare l’accesso alle impostazioni ed entrare all’interno del menu delle estensioni .

Turn Off Your Ad Blocker for iPhone From Your Safari Address Bar

The fastest way to turn off AdBlock for iOS is to simply open up your Safari browser. Next to the URL in the address bar, tap on the aA icon and then tap Turn Off Content Blockers .

Turn Off Your Ad Blocker for iPhone in Settings

You can also follow these steps to turn off AdBlock instead:

• Go to Settings > Safari > Extensions.

The capital of Russia is an incredible place to explore. Visitors to Moscow come away spellbound at all the amazing sights, impressed at the sheer size and grandeur of the city. Lying at the heart of Moscow, the Red Square and the Kremlin are just two of the must-see tourist attractions; they are the historical, political and spiritual heart of the city – and indeed Russia itself.

A fascinating city to wander around, stunning cathedrals, churches, and palaces lie side-by-side with bleak grey monuments and remains from the Soviet state. In addition to its plethora of historical and cultural tourist attractions, Moscow is home to world-class museums, theaters and art galleries.

Renowned for its performing arts, fantastic ballets and amazing circus acts, catching a show while in Moscow is a must. The wealth of brilliant restaurants, trendy bars, and lively nightlife means there is something for everyone to enjoy.

17. Tsaritsyno Palace

Once the summer residence of Catherine the Great, the stunning Tsaritsyno Palace is now a museum-reserve. The architecture is magnificent and there is a lovely park surrounding it for visitors to explore.

Located in the south of Moscow, the palace was commissioned in 1775 and recent renovations mean its lavish interior looks better than ever before with its elegant halls and beautiful staircases.

The exhibits on display look at the life of the empress as well as the history of Tsaritsyno itself. The huge palace grounds are also home to some other delightful buildings with the elegant opera house and wonderful brickwork of the Small Palace being particularly impressive to gaze upon.

Starting out in 1935 as the ‘All-Union Agricultural Exhibition’, VDNKh has slowly morphed over the years into the fascinating open-air museum of today. Remarkably, over 400 buildings can now be found within its confines.

The huge park complex has numerous pavilions representing former Soviet republics on show, such as those of Armenia and Turkmenistan and the distinctive architecture of each of the buildings is always interesting to gaze upon. In addition to this there is the fascinating Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics which is dedicated to space exploration and the fun Moskvarium aquarium even offers you the chance to swim with dolphins.

With lots of eateries scattered about and numerous entertainment options such as horse-riding and zip-lining, there is something for everyone to enjoy; the Friendship of Nations fountain truly is wonderful.

15. Kremlin Armoury

One of the oldest museums in the city, the Kremlin Armoury has a wealth of treasures; highlights include the ornate Grand Siberian Railway egg, the historic Cap of Monomakh and the stunning Imperial Crown of Russia which often has a crowd of tourists around it, jostling to take a photo.

Once the royal armory, there are loads of fascinating objects on display. Perusing the many sabers, jewelry, armor and more is as interesting as it is educational and entertaining and the swords are so finely crafted that you’ll almost wish you could pick up one and wield if yourself.

Established in 1851, the museum is situated in the Moscow Kremlin.

14. GUM Department Store

Standing for ‘Main Universal Store’ in Russian, GUM is stunning. Its wonderful skylights and beautiful facades mean it doesn’t look out of place alongside its illustrious neighbors on Red Square.

With over 200 shops, boutiques and upmarket eateries inside, it is a shopaholic’s heaven and concerned partners will be glad to find more affordable options alongside luxury brands such as Dior and Prada.

The main department store in the city, GUM was opened in 1893. The stunning architecture makes it well worth a visit even if shopping isn’t your thing.

13. Moscow Metro

It’s not often that public transport looks like a work of art. So many stops on the Moscow Metro will astound visitors with their beauty and elegance.

Decked in marble and with frescoes covering the walls, the stations are amazing to gaze upon and are part of one of the longest metro systems in the world, with the first stations opened in 1935.

Using the metro is the quickest and easiest way to get around Moscow and braving the crowds of commuters is well worth it for the beauty all around you.

12. Arbat Street

An elegant yet lively street, Arbat is full of impressive architecture and was once a popular place to live for aristocrats, artists, and academics.

A historic place, it is down Arbat Street that Napoleon’s troops are said to have headed on their way to capture the Kremlin.

Nowadays, there are many cafes, restaurants, and shops, as well as various monuments and statues to former residents such as Alexander Pushkin who was reputed to be a lover of the Russian Empress due to his massive influence in court.

11. Novodevichy Convent

Drenched in history, the Novodevichy Convent is located in a striking building that was once a fortress. This captivating place is well worth visiting when in Moscow.

Founded in 1524, the convent houses four cathedrals; Smolensk Cathedral is the undoubted highlight due to its delightful 16th-century frescoes.

Wandering around the grounds is like stepping back in time. The Novodevichy Cemetery is where many famous leaders of the Soviet Union are buried, such as Yeltsin and Khrushchev.

10. Pushkin Museum

Despite its name, the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts actually has no connection at all to the famous poet other than that it was named in his honor after his death. A delight to visit, its extensive collection focuses on European art with masterpieces by Botticelli, Rembrandt, and van Gogh all featuring.

Sculptures, graphic art, paintings and more can be found in its beautiful galleries; various sections look at themes and epochs such as the Renaissance, the Dutch Golden Age, and Byzantine art.

Among the many highlights are the clownish characters which can be found in Cezanne’s Fastnacht (Mardi Gras) and the twirling ballerinas who look so elegant in Degas’ Blue Dancers. Picasso’s Young acrobat on a Ball is also well worth checking out for its interesting use of shapes and colors.

9. Christ The Savior Cathedral

This gorgeous Russian Orthodox cathedral is located on the banks of the Moskva River, just a stone’s throw away from the Kremlin.

The church as it stands today was consecrated in 2000, as the original church that stood here was destroyed on the command of Josef Stalin in 1931 due to the anti-religious campaign.

With its delightful golden dome, spires and dazzling white facades, the Christ the Savior Cathedral is stunning. The interior is just as captivating to wander around, with its beautifully tiled floors and impressive altar.

8. Lenin Mausoleum

Opened to the public in 1924, Lenin’s Mausoleum is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Moscow. The red granite structure is located at the heart of the city in Red Square.

Lenin’s embalmed body lies in a glass sarcophagus; it is a somewhat eerie experience walking past the former leader of the Soviet Union but is well worth doing as you understandably can’t do it anywhere else in the world.

After visiting the mausoleum, head to the Kremlin wall right next to it for more graves of important communist figures such as Stalin and Brezhnev.

7. Tretyakov Gallery

Home to the most extensive and impressive collection of Russian fine art in the world, the State Tretyakov Gallery is definitely worth visiting when in Moscow for the wealth of amazing art pieces that it has on display.

Having started out as the private art collection of the Tretyakov brothers, there are now over 130,000 exhibits. Highlights include the iconic Theotokos of Vladimir which you will almost certainly recognise despite probably not knowing the name and Rublev’s Trinity which is considered to be one of highest achievements in Russian art.

An absolute must for art lovers, the State Tretyakov Gallery will delight visitors with all that is has to offer.

6. Kolomenskoye

Once a royal estate, Kolomenskoye is now a museum-reserve and lies a few kilometers outside of the city center. A captivating place to visit, there is a plethora of history on show and the site overlooks the Moskva River.

Consisting of four historical sites, there are extensive gardens for visitors to explore, as well as loads of interesting old buildings, the former village of Kolomenskoye itself and the impressive Palace of the Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich – once considered the Eighth Wonder of the World by contemporaries.

Among the many stunning sights, it is the brilliantly white Ascension Church that is the undoubted highlight – dating back to 1532.

5. Gorky Park

Lying alongside the Moskva River, the huge Gorky Park is a lovely place to visit. Its extensive gardens are home to numerous cultural institutions and visitors should definitely check out the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art and while the eclectic exhibits may not always feature such incredible sights as a balloon-covered rider on a zebra; they certainly always succeed in pushing back the boundaries of art.

Pop-up exhibitions and festivals can be found from time to time in the park itself and there is an open-air theatre and numerous eateries alongside a plethora of leisure activities.

Whether it’s cycling, table tennis or yoga that you are after or beach volleyball and rowing, Gorky Park certainly has it. In winter, there is a huge ice rink for visitors to enjoy.

4. Bolshoi Theatre

The Bolshoi Theatre is the main theater in the country. The amazing opera and ballet performances it has put on over the centuries go a long way in explaining Russia’s rich history of performing arts.

While the Bolshoi Ballet Company was established in 1776, the theater itself was opened in 1825. The glittering, six-tier auditorium is lavishly and decadently decorated; it is a fitting setting for the world-class performances that take place on its stage.

Spending a night watching a performance of such classics as The Nutcracker or Swan Lake at the Bolshoi Theatre is sure to be a memorable experience and the beauty all around you only adds to the sense of occasion.

3. Moscow Kremlin

This famously fortified complex is remarkably home to five palaces and four cathedrals and is the historic, political and spiritual center of the city. The Kremlin serves as the residence for the country’s president. It has been used as a fort, and this fact is made clear by its sheer size. The Kremlin’s outer walls were built in the late 1400s.

Under Ivan III, better known as Ivan the Great, the Kremlin became the center of a unified Russian state, and was extensively remodeled. Three of the Kremlin’s cathedrals date to his reign that lasted from 1462-1505. The Deposition Church and the Palace of Facets were also constructed during this time. The Ivan the Great Bell Tower was built in 1508. It is the tallest tower at the Kremlin with a height of 266 feet (81 meters).

Joseph Stalin removed many of the relics from the tsarist regimes. However, the Tsar Bell, the world’s largest bell, and the Tsar Cannon, the largest bombard by caliber in the world, are among the remaining items from that era. The Kremlin Armory is one of Moscow’s oldest museums as it was established more than 200 years ago. Its diamond collection is impressive.

The Kremlin’s gardens – Taynitsky, Grand Kremlin Public and Alexander – are beautiful. The Kremlin has also served as the religious center of the country, and there is a tremendous number of preserved churches and cathedrals here. The collections contained within the museums include more than 60,000 historical, cultural and artistic monuments. Those who enjoy the performing arts will want to consider attending a ballet or concert at the State Kremlin Palace. Completed in 1961, it is the only modern building in the Kremlin.

2. Red Square

Lying at the heart of Moscow, Red Square is the most important and impressive square in the city. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions due to its wealth of historical sights and cultural landmarks.

Drenched in history, the huge square is home to incredible sights such as the Kremlin, St. Basil’s Cathedral and Lenin’s Mausoleum, among others. Consequently, it is not to be missed when in Moscow as it really is home to the city’s most stunning monuments.

It is here that many important moments in Russian history took place; the former marketplace has hosted everything from Tsar’s coronations and public ceremonies to rock concerts and Soviet military parades. Wandering around the massive square is a humbling experience and undoubtedly one of the highlights the city has to offer.

1. Saint Basil’s Cathedral

Located in the impressive Red Square, St. Basil’s Cathedral is gorgeous; its delightful spires appear as if out of a fairytale. The most recognizable building in the country, the cathedral is very much a symbol of Russia. No visit to Moscow is complete without having taken in its unique and distinctive features.

Ivan the Terrible ordered the cathedral’s construction in the mid-16th century, and legend holds that Ivan put out the architect’s eyes so that he would be unable to build another cathedral more glorious than St. Basil’s. Designed to resemble the shape of a bonfire in full flame, the architecture is not only unique to the period in which it was built but to any subsequent period. For various reasons, both Napoleon and Stalin wanted to destroy the cathedral but fortunately did not succeed.

Known for its various colors, shapes and geometric patterns, St. Basil’s Cathedral houses nine different chapels that are all connected by a winding labyrinth of corridors and stairways. On the lower floor, St. Basil’s Chapel contains a silver casket bearing the body of St. Basil the Blessed.

Throughout the cathedral are many beautiful murals, frescoes, wooden icons and other art works and artifacts. Outside the cathedral is a lovely garden with the bronze Monument to Minin and Pozharsky, who rallied an all-volunteer Russian army against Polish invaders during a period of the late 16th century known as the Times of Troubles.

As stated in ancient chronicles, in 1147, Prince Yury Dolgoruky invited his relative, Prince Svyatoslav Olgovich, to see him in Moscow, which was a small castle lost in the boundless Russian forest. Zaryadie Park is just a 10-minute walk from St. Basil’s Cathedral, so it’s easy to include in your itinerary if you’re going to visit Moscow in 2 days. Visit the Cathedral of Christ the Savior

This impressive Moscow Cathedral is the seat of the Russian Orthodox Church. It is a must see if you visit Moscow in 2 days and clearly one of the things to do in Moscow. The Cathedral of Christ the Savior was first built in 1883 in memory of Russia’s victory over Napoleon’s Grand Army. Then in 1931 Stalin ordered its destruction. It was then rebuilt again (identically) only in 2000.

• Where? Ulitsa Volkhonka 15. At the foot of the Kropotkinskaya metro station.
• Opening hours . Daily: 10: 00-17: 00, except Monday: 13: 00-17: 00
• Free entry (some closing restrictions, for example a short)

The old Krasny Oktyabr factory: one of the coolest things to do in Moscow

If you cross the Moskva River by a pedestrian bridge which is located just in front of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, you will enjoy a beautiful view of the city and at the same time you can discover Balchug Island. Furthermore, if you want to visit Moscow in 2 days, you can include this island in your itinerary between the cathedral and Gorky park. Here is the old confectionery factory Krasny Oktyabr, which has gradually turned into a fashionable micro-district. There are then some elements of street art, cafes and restaurants and some Moscow bohemian side. At the end of the island you can see a gigantic 98-meter-high monument dedicated to the Russian reforming tsar Pierre The Great.

Good to know! You can find on this island are the trendiest nightclubs in Moscow. On weekends, there are taxi caps after midnight so there are so many people. On the other hand, if you go there in winter and during the day, the island is quite empty and less interesting to see.

Gorky Park is one of the TOP places to visit in Moscow, because it allows you to better understand the life of the locals and their rhythm. In fact, it’s a huge entertainment park. For example, in winter there is a giant ice rink and in summer – free dance or yoga lessons, sandy beaches for playing volleyball, an outdoor cinema. So, like the locals, have a Stakantchik (ice cream or cooked corn), and enjoy the atmosphere of the place: that’s one of the interesting things to do in Moscow to discover the city.

• Where? Krymsky Val 9. 20 minutes’ walk from Krasny Oktyabr, along the quays.

Sparrow Hill and Moscow State University

The Sparrow Hill, Vorobiovy Gori in Russian, is the highest point in Moscow. It is rather known to Russians, but less to travelers. A nice view on Moscow opens from the hill, and in particular on the Luzhniki Stadium. In addition, on the hill itself is the Moscow State University: an impressive skyscraper from the Soviet era.

• How to get there? By bus T7 (35 min) from Oktyaborskaya station, near Gorki Park. By metro (Vorobiovy Gorki station) + climb the hill on foot. On foot along the Moskva along the Gorky Park (1h30) + climb in funiculars.

Good to know! It is possible to cross the Moskva river by funicular. We actually tested it and it was pretty cool! That is one of our favorite things to do in Moscow!

VDNKh, visit Moscow of the Soviet era

VDNKh is a large exhibition center in the north of Moscow, where there are still several striking witnesses of the USSR. The most interesting are the Museum of Cosmonauts and the Statue of the Worker and the Kolkhozian , which will certainly impress you with its size!

GULAG History Museum

The explanations of the museum are very well done. We really have the feeling of going back in time. If you are going to visit Moscow in 3 days and you are interested in history and this subject in particular, I recommend this museum. Visit the GULAG History Museum is one of the most interesting things to do in Moscow.

Discover the Patriarche Pounds district

It’s a nice neighborhood in Moscow where you can come across rather affluent locals, but not necessarily very bling-bling. Take a walk in this area is really a cool thing to do in Moscow! In addition, the Ponds of Patriarch is one of the places of Bulgakov’s novel “Master and Margarita”. As this is an interesting area to see, we have included it in a walking tour of Moscow. Visiting Novodevichy Convent in Moscow

The Novodevichy Convent is one of the most brilliant examples of Russian architecture, according to UNESCO. This beautiful complex was built in 1524 and today consists of the convent, but also of a cemetery whose status could be compared to that of Père-Lachaise in Paris. Visiting Novodevichy Convent is one of the great things to do in Moscow, if you want to go a little bit outside of the center!

Discovering Tchistye Proudy district

It’s one of the most popular areas of Moscow, with many cafes, restaurants and bars nearby. It is therefore a place to discover if you want to visit Moscow in 4 days. It is just as pleasant for a stroll as for the discovery of local life. For example, in winter the pond turns into an ice rink.

The Izmaylovo Kremlin is more of a tourist than a historic place. On the other hand, it is a pretty impressive place to discover, especially on weekends. Inside the Kremlin, there is a flea market where you can find a little bit of everything, but mostly good souvenirs to bring from Moscow. For example, chapka, traditional Russian scarves or matryoshka (Russian dolls). Add the Kremlin and the Izmaïlovo market to your itinerary if you are going to visit Moscow in 4 days, because it is a nice and very colorful place! What to visit in Moscow in 5 days?

Art lovers will be delighted to discover the Tretyakov Gallery and the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, while others will prefer to stroll along Arbat Street, see the buildings of Moskva-City or visit Bunker 42.

Admiring Russian art at Tretyakov Gallery

Founded in 1856 by an industrialist and great lover of art, the gallery has grown over the decades, and then bequeathed to the state. Today the collection includes more than 140,000 pieces, 15,000 of which are paintings. Visiting the Tretyakov Gallery is one of the things to do in Moscow if you want to discover Russian art!

• Where? Pereoulok Lavrouchinski 10. A 5-minute walk from Tretiakovskaya station
• Opening hours. Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Closed on Mondays.

Visiting the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts

The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts presents the treasures of ancient Egypt, the paintings of Rembrandt and Cézanne, a fine collection of Impressionism.

• Where? Ulitsa Volkhonka 12
• Opening hours. Daily: 10: 00-20: 00, except Thursday: 11: 00-21: 00. Closed on Mondays. The boxes close an hour before closing.
• Entry tickets. The prices vary according to the collections from 300 to 750 RUB.

Walking on Arbat Street

All Russians know Rue Arbat. So, walking on Arbat street is one of the things to do in Moscow. However, after the years, little by little it became very touristy. This is a pedestrian street only. There are souvenir shops, restaurants and cafes there, but it is no longer the most authentic neighborhood in the city.

Seeing the buildings of Moskva-City (Moscow City)

Moskva-City is Moscow’s business center, much like Paris’s Defense district. The skyscrapers of Moskva-City are among the tallest in Europe: 373 meters high! Very nice place to see at dusk.

Good to know! You can admire a nice view of Moscow City from the docks of Tarasa Shevchenko. It’s especially beautiful in the evening with all the lights on.

Bunker 42, one of the most unusual things to do in Moscow

Bunker 42 is a secret military complex which was to be used by the Soviets in the event of a nuclear attack: a space of 7000 m² 65 meters underground!

• Where? 5 Kotelnitcheski Lane, 11.
• Prices. 2200 RUB per person
• Opening hours. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Restaurant inside. Original, but rather a tourist trap.

What to visit in Moscow in 6 days or more?

There are still so many places to see, because Moscow is a big megalopolis and there is always something exciting to do there. For example: the ancient Kolomenskoye village or the WINZAVOD contemporary art center .

If you are interested in history and want to see Russian cities on a rather “human scale”, it would certainly be interesting for you to discover the cities of the Golden Ring . For example, it is very easy to get to Sergey Posad from Moscow (less than 2 hours in train). Visiting the Golden Ring is one of the best things to do in Moscow if you are staying more than a 5-6 days.
