It offers a diverse range of activities, from golfing and sailing to exploring historic sites, scenic beaches, and nature reserves. San Juan, Puerto Rico, is a vibrant and historic port of call on Disney cruises, offering a rich blend of colonial charm and modern culture. Visitors can explore the old town of San Juan, including the famous El Morro fortress and the colorful streets of La Calle San Sebastian, or head to the beaches for a day of sun and fun. Among the options available from Port Adventures are scuba diving, a visit to the Bacardi distillery, and several sightseeing tours. Whether you’re interested in history, food, shopping, or simply soaking up the local atmosphere, the port of San Juan is a great place to visit on a Disney cruise.

About the Saint John, Canada Disney Cruise Port

Saint John, Canada, is an essential stop for Disney cruises departing from New York. The city’s bustling Market Square and Brunswick Square Shopping Centre offer plenty of shopping opportunities, while Barbour’s General Store provides a unique glimpse into the area’s 18th-century history. In addition to shopping, passengers can participate in Port Adventures, such as whale watching and kayaking, for a true taste of the region’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.

Do Disney Cruises From New York Go to the Bahamas (Castaway Cay)?

Castaway Cay is a highly sought-after destination for Disney cruises. Unfortunately, the most recent round of Disney cruises from New York did not sail to Castaway Cay or elsewhere in the Bahamas . Instead, passengers on New York cruises could visit Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Eastern Canada.

Those interested in visiting the Bahamas or Castaway Cay – and flexible about their departure port – can take advantage of Disney cruise itineraries visiting Castaway Cay from other ports in 2024 . How Many Disney Cruises From New York Are There?

The most recent set of Disney cruises from New York included nine sailings from late September 2023 through early November 2023. How Much Do Disney Cruises From New York Cost?

Disney cruises departing from New York are a great option for a fun and unforgettable family vacation at sea. However, many people have concerns about affordability.

Based on pricing from the most recently-offered season (2023), the most inexpensive itinerary was a 4-Night Canada Cruise from New York, which starts at $2,498 for two people. The most expensive itinerary was a 6-Night Bermuda Cruise from New York, which starts at $3,531 for two people.

These were both Halloween on the High Seas cruises, offering festive holiday décor and activities for a memorable (and spooky) family vacation.

While some may worry about affordability, it is important to remember that the cost of a Disney cruise is all-inclusive. The stateroom, meals, and most entertainment, activities, and services are included in the price of a Disney cruise .

Furthermore, the pricing covers two people , making the per-person price much more reasonable. Overall, a Disney cruise offers exceptional value for your money.

Passengers sailing on the Disney Dream will enjoy premium entertainment such as Broadway-style performances, movie screenings, firework displays, and opportunities to interact with Disney characters.

Among the free activities for children and teenagers are the Oceaneer Club for ages 3-10, Edge for ages 11-14, and Vibe, a lounge for teens ages 14-17.

Adults can access nightclubs, live music lounges, fitness centers, and an adult-only pool.

The majority of these activities are offered at no extra cost!

As a bonus, Disney cruise prices include taxes, fees, and port expenses.

However, the base price of your Disney cruise may not cover some items and services, so you should expect to pay for these separately. These include airfare to and from the cruise departure city, gourmet dining at the adult-only Palo and Remy restaurants, tips and gratuities , spa treatments, shore excursions, bottled drinks, and alcohol .

Airports for New York Cruises

Image of a jet parked at an airport terminal, with service vehicles and luggage bins nearby

The best way to reach the Port of New York is by flying into the city (unless you’re close enough to drive).

Which Airport Should I Fly Into for a New York Cruise?

For a Disney cruise in New York, you have several options for flying into the city. The three closest airports to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal are John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), LaGuardia Airport (LGA), and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Of the three, LaGuardia is the closest airport, located around 11 miles away, followed by Newark Liberty International at approximately 16 miles and JFK at about 19 miles.

The best airport for you will depend on various factors, including flight availability, cost, and personal preference. All three airports offer transportation options to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal, including taxis, ride-share services, shuttle buses, and car rentals.

What is the Best Way to Get to the Cruise Port From the Airport?

The best way to get from the airport to the Manhattan Cruise Port for a Disney cruise will depend on your personal preference and budget. Here are some options:

  • Disney Cruise Line Shuttle : Disney offers ground transportation from JFK and LaGuardia airports to the Manhattan Cruise Port. It is convenient but not always the best option if you arrive early in NYC.
  • Private Shuttle : Booking a private shuttle can offer door-to-door service and is often more readily available than Disney shuttles.
  • Car Rental : While renting a car is always an option, we strongly advise against it since it is expensive and unnecessary.
  • Taxis : Taxis are readily available at JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark airports, but the fare may be higher than ridesharing.
  • Ride-sharing Services (Uber, Lyft ): This is a budget-friendly option and provides a convenient way to get from the airport to the Manhattan Cruise Port.

The Disney Cruise Line shuttle is a great option for a seamless Disney experience, but we recommend Uber or Lyft if you want a hassle-free, inexpensive ride. You should weigh the cost, convenience, and level of comfort for each option to determine the best option for you.

How Much Does an Uber Cost From the Airport to Disney’s New York Terminal?

Uber’s price varies greatly based on the vehicle you choose and how far you travel. The following is an estimate of what an Uber ride will cost from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), LaGuardia Airport (LGA), and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).

The estimated cost of an Uber from LGA to Disney’s Manhattan Cruise Terminal:

  • Uber X : $66.93
  • Uber XL : $75.71
  • Uber Black : $98.76

The estimated cost of an Uber from EWR to Disney’s Manhattan Cruise Terminal:

  • Uber X : $47.92
  • Uber XL : $56.91
  • Uber Black : $123.30

The estimated cost of an Uber from JFK to Disney’s Manhattan Cruise Terminal:

  • Uber X : $97.59
  • Uber XL : $112.75
  • Uber Black : $147.18

How Much Are Taxis From the Airport to Port of New York?

Taking a taxi is an easy and convenient alternative to ridesharing services like Uber. Our research indicates that they are also similarly priced to other comparable ridesharing options.

  • Taxis are estimated to cost $42.06 from LGA to Manhattan Cruise Terminal.
  • Taxis are estimated to cost $54.61 from EWR to Manhattan Cruise Terminal.
  • Taxis are estimated to cost $64.88 from JFK to Manhattan Cruise Terminal.

These estimates do not include tipping. As a result, you will have to adjust these estimates higher to account for tipping your Uber or taxi driver.

How Much Are Shuttles From the New York Airports to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal Hotels?

The cost of shuttles from the airport to the New York area hotels varies and can depend on several factors, such as the distance, the type of shuttle service, and the number of passengers. On average, shared shuttle prices can range from $35 to $50 per person. Shuttle service prices may change anytime, so it’s always a good idea to check with the shuttle provider for the most accurate information.

In most cases, shuttle prices are on a per-person basis, so it may be more cost-effective for larger groups to consider alternative options like Uber, Lyft, or a taxi. In addition, private sedans, SUVs, and minivans are available for airport transfers, but they will cost between $150 and $250.

Official Disney Ground Transfers (Shuttles From the Airport)

Guests of Disney Cruise Line can travel from JFK and LaGuardia airports to the Manhattan Cruise Port on private Disney ground transportation (shuttle). Your driver will assist you with your luggage.

Disney Cruise Line does not have a set price for their New York shuttle transfers. The cost will be determined during the booking process and will be based on your specific needs. Guests can arrange the transfer directly with Disney Cruise Line or work with a travel agent.

Unofficial Airport Shuttles

If you’re seeking an alternative to Disney’s ground transportation, several independent shuttle and limo services are available at JFK, LGA, and EWR airports. These third-party shuttle services can take you to your desired location at any time of the day or night. The Disney shuttle only runs during cruise days, so this is a great option if you plan to arrive or depart early or late from New York.

Listed below are some local third party transportation companies you might consider for transportation from the airport to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal.

  • Go Airlink Shuttle : Offers shared ride and private car services from JFK, LGA, and EWR to Manhattan.
  • SuperShuttle NYC : Provides shared ride and private van services from JFK and LGA to Manhattan.
  • Carmel Limo : Provides private car and limousine services from JFK, LGA, and EWR to Manhattan.
  • Dial 7 Car and Limousine Service : Offers private car and limousine services from JFK, LGA, and EWR to Manhattan.
  • Winston Transportation : Provides a range of sedans, SUVs, and private van transportation.

These companies provide reliable and affordable transportation options from the airport to the cruise terminal in Manhattan. Before booking, be sure to check their rates, availability, and customer reviews.

We recommend taking Disney’s official shuttle or an Uber to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. However, you are free to choose whichever is most convenient for you. Contact a Disney travel agent to discuss your options and arrange ground transportation.

Sailing Out of New York City with Disney Cruise Line

Sailing Out of New York City with Disney Cruise Line

If you’re a Disney Cruise Line fan, no doubt you’ve seen pictures of the boarding process for their most common port, Port Canaveral.  The big Mickey that you walk through to get on board, the character ops while you’re waiting, and everything looking magical in only a way Disney can. But if you’re cruising out of New York City, it’s a little different! Here are a few tips to help you navigate this new experience.

Disney Cruise Line Disney Magic

Cruising out of New York City

Cruising out of New York City is definitely a unique experience. As someone who lives closer to New York than to Florida, being able to cruise out of New York for a Disney Cruise means being able to skip the airport and still be able to enjoy a magical Disney Cruise vacation.  A Disney Cruise out of New York City is definitely a little different, but no less magical. All that really matters is that you get onboard your Disney Cruise, right? Of course! But if you’re used to the magic, whimsy, and familiarity that is Port Canaveral, there are a few things you should know. Disney Cruises from NYC are a little bit different than those that sail out of the Florida ports. But they’re just as magical and a different experience we loved being able to have!

Which Disney Cruises Sail from New York?

Disney Cruise Line sails from New York City to Canada and Bemuda, on select limited sailings. In the past, the Disney Cruise Ship sailing out of New York to Canada and Bermuda has been the Disney Magic.

Disney Cruise New York City

Which Terminal in New York City Does Disney Cruise Line Sail From?

New York City can be confusing if you’ve never been there. Only being about an eight-hour drive from where I live, I have been there quite a few times and still, I get confused getting around! There are two cruise terminals in New York City.  Ships sail out of both Brooklyn and Manhattan. It’s important to know which one to go to.  Disney Cruise Line sails out of the Manhattan Terminal at either Pier 88 or 90. The exact address is 12th Avenue at West 55th Street, New York, New York 10019.

And if you are not familiar with New York City, just know that traffic can slow everything down. So definitely allow for extra travel time if you’re cruising out of New York City.

Where Can You Park in New York City for a Disney Cruise?

If you’re taking a Disney Cruise you can park at the New York City Terminal. So now that you know where you’re going, it’s a good idea to figure out how you are getting there! Personally, I cannot drive in New York City. I mean, I can, but if I want my sanity to remain intact, then, well I can’t. But if you are braver at heart than me, and want to drive in NYC and park at the terminal, here’s what you should know. Parking is $40 per day, which can be pretty pricey depending on the length of your cruise. But the terminal parking is also the most convenient if you want to drive there yourself. Parking is on a first-come, first-serve basis; and it fills up pretty quickly from what locals had told me. They don’t accept reservations and they open parking at 9 am. You can read all about parking at the NYC terminal here .

There are other options for parking as well and a quick google search can lead to you the other options available for cruising out of New York City.

How Do You Get to the Disney Cruise New York City Port?

Personally, I think this is the best option when it comes to arriving at the New York Coty terminal and there are a lot of options. We happened to book a cruise and stay package at a nearby New Jersey hotel that offered shuttle service. However, there are taxis, Uber, and private drivers as an option too if you prefer to get dropped off at the terminal. Originally when I was researching for our trip, the prices were all about the same so choose your favorite option and go from there.  Another option is staying at a Disney partner hotel. And then taking the Disney shuttle bus from there. There are mixed reviews about this, but it’s an easy option if you’re looking for convenience.

If you choose to take transportation to the New York City Port, they’ll drop you off at the curb of your pier and Cast Members will help you with your luggage. Make sure you have your cruise luggage tags on your luggage when you arrive so you can hand it off to the Cast Members and move on quickly. If you didn’t receive you luggage tags in the mail, never fear! They have blanks at the Port that can be filled out. Just ask!

I also want to mention that depending on where you are staying, it’s possible that you can walk to the port. We didn’t do this since we weren’t staying close by, but keep in mind that may be an option if you want to walk and haul your luggage around in NYC.

There are also occasional packages through local hotels that can be booked that offer transfers to and from the port as well. So as you can see, you have a lot of options!

Checking in for your Disney Cruise in New York City

Once you get to the port, the next step is checking in! Maybe it’s just the layout of the terminal or maybe cruisers out of New York tend to arrive earlier, but the lines were very long when we arrived at 10:30 am. From the time we got to the port, got through security, and checked in, it took about an hour. I’m sure this varies from trip to trip but this was our experience.

First, you’ll go through security. And then you’ll be separated into check-in lines in the next room based on your Castaway Club status .  Be sure to have all of your boarding documents ready. They’ll activate your Cruise card and grab a quick photo. Then you can hang out in the terminal until your boarding group is called. The waiting area was really full by the time we got through checking in, so we sat in overflow seating outside of the designated Disney area. But Cast Members are easily identifiable. And they will walk up and down the aisles updating passengers with the boarding groups being called.

Sailing on the Disney Magic out of New York City

If you’re sailing out of New York City, that means you’re sailing on the Disney Magic. Sailing on the Disney Magic is a little underrated in my opinion. Sure, it’s an older and smaller ship, but the experiences onboard really are magical! Rapunzel’s Royal Table is still one of my favorite dining experiences onboard a Disney Cruise Line ship. And they even have a Broadway-style show dedicated to the lost Princess. Yes, it’s a smaller ship, but that can be good in a lot of ways. There are fewer people, it’s easier to get around, and overall it just has a more homey feel to it.

If you’d like to learn more about the Disney Magic, we have a Photo Tour from our Halloween on the High Seas cruise and a guide to dining onboard the Disney Magic .

Spend some time on the upper deck before sailing

The backdrop of New York City from the vantage point of the upper deck is a really unique perspective that you won’t get when sailing out of Port Canaveral. It makes for great photos and aside from the Sail Awave deck party, it wasn’t really that crowded.  And on top of that, as the ship starts to sail away from the port, the scenery is really pretty cool. And I highly recommend sticking around and taking it all in you have time.

You can see the Statue Of Liberty from the ship

When cruising out of New York City, the ship actually passes right by the Statue of Liberty! Unfortunately, our ship didn’t leave on time the day of our cruise because we were waiting for a family to board who was running late. So, we did not get to see the Statue of Liberty while sailing away due to the timing of our dinner and a show we wanted to watch. But if you stay on the upper deck, the boat passes right by the Statue of Liberty on its way out to sea! How cool is that? Port Canaveral may have warmer weather. But to me sailing out of New York City is just a lot cooler of an experience.

Know what to pack when sailing out of New York City

Generally, there are two itineraries you can choose when sailing out of New York City with Disney Cruise Line. Disney Cruise Lines offers cruises to Canada from New York, and to Bermuda. Either way, you will be in the cooler ocean air for at least part of your trip. It’s important to pack appropriately so you can spend time out on the deck if you’d like to.  When we sailed, we did the Canada itinerary. So it was cold the entire time, and here is what we packed for a cold weather cruise .

But even if you are sailing to Bermuda, keep in mind that part of that journey will be much cooler than in your warm-weather destination. So we definitely recommend packing at least a few things to help keep you warm during that portion of your sailing.

Returning to New York City after your Disney Cruise

We highly recommend having a plan for your return from the Manhattan Terminal before you leave for your cruise.  The day that we disembarked was a little bit hectic in the drop-off/pick-up areas and luckily we already had transportation planned, but I did see some travelers who were having a hard time getting a taxi or even finding an Uber available.

If you are staying somewhere that offers a cruise and stay package, they will have your transportation set up for you on the day you return. But if you are arranging your own transportation, make sure you know when and where they will be meeting you for pickup.

Do any Disney Cruises leave from NY?

Yes! When we sailed, it was with the Disney Magic. Currently for 2023, the Disney Dream is the ship that leaves from New York, and sails either the transatlantic cruise, or to Bermuda. But for 2o24, there are no scheduled cruises from New York City. So we are hoping when the Disney Treasure itineraries are announced, there may be additions, but it’s really anyone’s guess until that happens.

What port does Disney Cruise leave out of New York?

Disney Cruise Line leaves from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. This is located between W. 48th and W. 52nd street. And when you arrive, just ask the porter, and they’ll direct you to the correct pier. This can change from cruise to cruise. So we always recommend checking the Disney Cruise Line website for the exact address of the terminal .

Hopefully, this post has been helpful if you are planning to sail out of New York City with the Disney Cruise Line.

Any cruise leave my and ends nearOrlando??!

Hey Diana! Per the Disney Cruise website, there are not any Cruises from New York to Orlando. Check out the departures from New York list here: https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/cruises-destinations/list/#new-york-new-york Hope that helps.

Hi I was wondering about the beach on the ny-Bermuda cruise, I’m told it’s a half and hour ride to the beach that Disney takes you too once at the port, is it comparable to castaway cay?

Hey Helen, we can’t say as we didn’t sail to Bermuda on this cruise, but the beach you’re referencing may be Horseshoe Bay in Kings Wharf, Bermuda. And it’s most likely not like Castaway Cay, since that’s Disney’s private island and they have full control of the experience and activities there. Since King’s Wharf is an actual town, with a culture all its own; shops, restaurants, tourists, etc. Horseshoe Bay will most likely have an array of locals mixed in with tourists and is simply a public beach. The link below clarifies the experience if this is the beach you meant that is a 30-minute ride port excursion. https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/port-adventures/kings-wharf-bermuda-horseshoe-bay-beach-transfer/

Can you share where you stayed pre cruise? We’re driving and looking for a park and sail option with a shuttle. Thanks!

Hi! We stayed at Hilton Garden Inn Ridgefield Park. It’s in New Jersey, so the prices are pretty reasonable. They have a Park and Cruise package that allows you to park your car for up to 7 days. And it also includes breakfast. I believe they would still have the shuttle, but we haven’t been since covid, so you might just want to double check. Hope that helps!

HI! Great tips! This will by my family’s first cruising experience. Quick question, are the pools and waterslides open? Is the water heated? I want to fully prepare the children 😉

Hi, thanks for stopping by! Yes the pools and waterslides are open as long as the weather allows. When it gets to be too windy, they will close the waterslides for safety. Or if it starts storming, they’ll close the pool. But on our New York cruise they were open (and very empty) most of the time. And yes, the pools are heated when the temperature drops below 75, so the water temp is usually pretty comfortable. Hope that helps and I hope you have the most amazing cruise!

Disney Cruise Line: Sailing from New York City

Sharing is caring!

disney cruise new york city

As a resident of the northeast, a Disney cruise adventure typically involves air travel.  My family was excited when DCL released itineraries that were leaving from New York City, eliminating that long day of airports and airplanes.   This is an overview of my experience, along with some helpful hints for anyone sailing from NYC.

Coupon image not uploaded

We boarded a train near home (Pennsylvania) that took us directly to Penn Station in New York City.  We arrived around 6pm on a Friday evening.  If you have ever been to Penn Station during rush hour on a Friday, you would understand how overwhelmed this country girl toting children and luggage was.  If you haven’t been there during rush hour, I would recommend that you select any other possible time for your arrival.  We had hoped to spend the evening exploring the city and possibly seeing a Broadway show, but after our initial welcome to the concrete jungle, we were happy to have a quiet evening in our hotel instead.

*Hint #1: If possible, do not arrive at Penn Station during rush hour.   * Hint #2: Make flexible plans. We were really glad we didn’t buy show tickets ahead of time. If you are set on seeing a show or seeing some of the sights, make sure you plan a couple of days before or after your cruise to do so.   On Saturday we woke up and requested that our hotel staff call a driver to take us to the port.

disney cruise new york city

*Hint #3: Don’t stress about getting around.   Throughout our stay in the city we used taxis, Uber, and private drivers.  All worked out to be about the same cost, so go with whatever is available.  With a group of 6 and all of our luggage, a private driver allowed us to all travel together in a larger vehicle.  With a taxi we had to split up between 2 cars, but the price for both taxis was the same as the price for the private car.

My children knew we were going to New York City, but I managed to keep the cruise a secret for over a year.  They thought DCL only sailed from Florida, so they had no clue. My 3 year old was the first to spy the “Mickey Boat” at the port, and the gig was up.  But we had more surprises in store – they still had no idea their 5 cousins would be joining us aboard!

disney cruise new york city

*Hint #4:  Address –  Disney departs from Pier 88 or Pier 90 at the Port of New York Manhattan Terminal:   12th Avenue at West 55th Street, New York, New York 10019

If you are driving to New York City, parking is available at the Manhattan Terminal between the Piers 88 and 90.

disney cruise new york city

*Hint #5: Allow extra travel time.   Although New York City moves at a faster pace, the traffic and crowds slow everything down.  Allow lots of travel time so that you don’t miss the boat.   Our driver dropped us off right at the bow of the ship.  Cast members were there to greet us and collect our luggage.

disney cruise new york city

*Hint #6: Make sure you have your luggage tags on your suitcases prior to arrival at the port .  There are porters taking luggage to many different ships from the drop-off area, and you don’t want your luggage to get on the wrong ship!

We kept our carry-ons with us and entered the port.  The first stop was security.  Lines were long, but they moved quickly.  Guests boarding several different cruise ships all went through the same port security lines.

Hint #7: If you are traveling with a large group, it might save time to split up between several different security lines and then meet up again once inside the port.

Hint #8: Make sure you keep all valuables and necessary paperwork for boarding in your carry-on.

After passing through security, Cast Members were available to direct guests to the proper check-in area. When we sailed, Disney was at the far end of the port, farthest from the security checkpoint.  There were several sets of bathrooms available, as well as a snack/drink kiosk. It was interesting to see the other cruise passengers waiting to board.  The energy level and fun factor was definitely much higher in the Disney boarding area.  I was glad that was my tribe!

Hint #9:  DCL is more fun!

In Disney’s designated area there were separate lines for new cruisers, silver castaway club members (if this is your 2nd to 5th cruise), gold castaway club members (if this is your 6th – 10th cruise), platinum castaway club members (for those passengers who are cruising for the 11th+ time) and concierge passengers.

Hint #10:  The Disney Cast Members are easily identifiable with their uniforms and name tags (and sometimes large Mickey hands!)  Don’t hesitate to ask questions, as they are both knowledgeable and helpful.

disney cruise new york city

After checking in, there was an opportunity to meet Goofy (the welcome character generally changes throughout the day, so you might find Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy… don’t worry if it isn’t your favorite character, you will have a chance to meet all of them on board).  The seating area was pretty full when we arrived, but there were plenty of seats outside of Disney’s designated area where we could still hear the boarding numbers being called.

Hint #11:  If you are traveling with a large group, it may be easier to find seating outside of the Disney check in area.  We were traveling with a group of 13, so just outside the Disney area in the port was a good meeting place for our families to gather.

disney cruise new york city

Once on board there were several characters available for meet and greets.  We were able to meet Pluto and Donald without any lines, as most people head straight to lunch after boarding.   This is also a great time to head up to Decks 9 and 10 to check out the city skyline.

disney cruise new york city

We enjoyed the lunch buffet at Cabana’s with an amazing view of New York City.

disney cruise new york city

Hint #12:  Check your navigator for details about which restaurants are serving and scheduled hours.  There will be several different dining options open when you board. Cabana’s is typically quite busy on embarkation day, but also offers the best city views.

disney cruise new york city

The sail away party started right after the mandatory muster drill. It was a nice welcome aboard, complete with music, dancing, and, of course, favorite Disney characters.

disney cruise new york city

On the port side of the ship there was a fantastic view of the New York City skyline as we departed.  Ship photographers were wandering around taking photos, so keep an eye out for them to capture some fun family pics.

disney cruise new york city

One thing we had most been looking forward to was sailing past the Statue of Liberty.  We were not disappointed and were greeted with a gorgeous sunset as we passed.

disney cruise new york city

Lady Liberty bid us a safe journey from the starboard side of the ship.  Deck 10 forward was a great place to capture some pictures.

disney cruise new york city

Hint #13:  Make sure you check out both sides of the ship during sail away, as views of both the New York skyline (port) and the Statue of Liberty (starboard) are spectacular.

disney cruise new york city

Our itinerary included several ports throughout Canada.  Select NYC sailings also include a celebration of the Marvel Heroes of New York (Black Panther, Iron Man, Spiderman), with special opportunities to meet these characters.

Hint #14: Check the “On Board Fun” opportunities on the DCL website when completing your online check-in for special ticketed meet and greet opportunities on your cruise.  These tickets do not have a fee, but they are limited.

disney cruise new york city

On disembarkation day, Lady Liberty welcomed us back along the port side of the ship.  There were quite a few guests up on Deck 10 to catch glimpses of the Statue of Liberty and skyline as we arrived back on land.  We sailed by Lady Liberty shortly after 5am (although that time could be drastically different based on itinerary and weather).

disney cruise new york city

Hint #15: Take your camera up to Deck 10 forward on disembarkation day to catch a few pictures of the Statue of Liberty in the night sky.

Sailing out of NYC provided new sites and experiences for even the seasoned DCL traveler.  Although I prefer a warmer, beachy experience, this was a bucket list item that I am fortunate to have been able to experience.

a question… do we check in for cruise at the manhattan cruise terminal (near pier 92/94) or at the actual pier that dcl docks at (pier 88/90)? trying to book a hotel that is walking distance and wondering if we should book near piers 88/90 or piers 92/94 thanks!!

I’ve cruised out of NYC as well. We also cruised out of the pier and we took an Uber that dropped us off at 88/90. So, I would say that’s the one you should aim to be near.

disney cruise new york city

It was bound to happen sometime, but Disney Cruise Line waited until its last of three new sister ships to name one Disney Destiny.

The sister ship to Disney Wish, which debuted out of Port Canaveral in 2022 and the soon-to-debut Disney Treasure arriving in Central Florida this December, the third ship in what was originally called the Trident class had its keel laying ceremony Wednesday at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

It won’t start sailing until 2025, and its home port has yet to be named, but among the details revealed for what will be the eighth ship in the cruise line’s fleet was the theme of the vessel, “Heroes & Villains.”

disney cruise new york city

As such, the filigree artwork for the bow will be of Minnie Mouse wearing a superhero-style outfit complete with a cape.

The cruise line said among the characters from which it will mine features on board will be classic Disney animation films, “The Lion King,” “Hercules” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians.”

Disney of course owns plenty of good vs. evil intellectual property including Star Wars and Marvel.

“The Disney Destiny will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters, bringing them to life in new and exciting ways exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests,” said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager for the cruise line, in a press release. “As we continue to expand our fleet, the Disney Destiny will further strengthen our position as a leader in family cruising.”

Just like Disney Wish and Treasure, Disney Destiny will be powered by liquefied natural gas, a cleaner burning fuel that’s part of the cruise industry’s efforts to reduce emissions.

All three are the 144,000 gross-ton, 1,254-stateroom vessels but still targeting the 4,000-passenger capacity of its older ships, 2011’s Disney Dream and 2012’s Fantasy. The line’s first ships are the smaller Disney Magic that debuted in 1998 and Disney Wonder in 1999. They come in at 84,000 gross tons with 875 staterooms.

The line also is finishing construction for an Asia-bound cruise ship named Disney Adventure that will be the largest in the fleet at 208,000 gross tons.

Disney Wish became the line’s first new ship in more than a decade. It continues to do short three- and four-night Bahamas sailings while Disney Treasure will pick up seven-night trips to the Caribbean.

9-1-1 has been renewed for an eighth season by ABC .

The season seven premiere of 9-1-1 in March delivered a cumulative audience of 11.76 million total viewers within the first seven days, and marked the series’ highest-rated multiplatform telecast in nearly two years in Adults 18-49. It paid homage to the disaster thriller  The Poseidon   Adventure .

The drama stands as ABC’s most-watched current series across all platforms this season.

9-1-1 moved to ABC after six seasons on Fox, where it was consistently one of the highest-rated shows. It now fits nicely into ABC’s Thursday lineup with  Grey’s Anatomy  and  Station 19 , both of which do well for for the Disney-owned broadcaster . This week’s new episode will mark the series’ 100th episode.

Murphy now has two series on ABC after he sold Dr. Odyssey with Joshua Jackson . As the title suggests,  Dr. Odyssey  is believed to be a medical procedural that takes place on a cruise ship.
