At Gypsian Boutique Tours we want to share our passion for the countries we explore. You are invited to join us and satisfy the Gypsy at heart… Happy Travels,

Hosted Journeys

Gypsian offer boutique travel and adventure tours like no other provider, we take you on tours that get up close to local cultures and take you to areas other tour providers simply do not offer. If you are a traveler that embraces adventure and loves exploring the different cultures these beautiful countries have to offer, then you will be well placed on one of our group tours. You will always travel in small groups to offer more opportunity to explore and have unique experiences. In our experience larger tour groups do not get the opportunity to visit and see the places a smaller group can, which is why we limit the amount of people per tour, allowing you to enjoy the local attractions and environment.

Gypsian Boutique Tours launches new wellness adventure in Morocco

Dreaming of sunrise yoga surrounded by red desert vistas? Aussie gypsetters can now explore their inner yogi on an inspiring journey to colourful kasbahs, ancient medinas and the legendary expanse of the Sahara Desert following the launch of a new wellness adventure to Morocco from leading Mediterranean travel specialists Gypsian Boutique Tours .

Departing on 29 April 2016, the road to wellness begins in the former imperial city of Marrakech with the Djeema El Fna and colourful souks as a breathtaking background to the first yoga session with Brisbane-based yoga instructor Libby Hucker, the group’s very own personal yoga coach for the next 12 days.

Travelling south across desert plains to the majestic Atlas Mountains, the tour will offer daily yoga sessions, luxury spa treatments, organic and local cuisine, and cooking classes to help travellers realign the mind, body and soul.

Hiking enthusiasts and culture vultures can also indulge their wanderlust in April with a 14-night long distance trek via foot and sea across Turkey’s Lycian Way, or a 20-night mythic Mediterranean adventure exploring ancient wonders from Athens all the way to Istanbul. Tour leaders Susan, Candace and Libby cap The Gypsian Boutique Tours at a maximum ten passengers following demand for intimate cultural experiences.

Midweek Interview with Libby Warner, Co-Owner of Gypsian Boutique Tours

gypsian boutique tours

The challenge for the industry is…  Trying to promote the importance of our small, private business, Gypsian Tours, in the shadow of large, wealthy tour companies. We hope to build the Gypsian brand and in doing so command respect from the industry.

The thing I like about my job is…  I love being able to come to the office everyday and work with the two best business partners in the world my mum and my sister.

And the frustrations…  Working with your two best friends.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be a…  I would love to be in fashion industry, living in New York and being able to dress up everyday!!  And the accessories oh the accessories!

Qantas or Virgin?  Virgin for sure.  We always fly Virgin when we can. Plus, I love Richard Branson’s ideals.  He not only worked from the bottom up but he gives back by praising and working with his staff members.

My proudest moment was…  Starting up a business with my family.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was…  This is going to sounds really lame but I don’t think I have ever really done something that naughty to be honest, my sister and business partner Candace on the other hand! She had always been the naughty one out of the two of us and I have been the sensible one.

I try to relax by…  At the moment there really isn’t any time for relaxing with a new business but relaxing for me is spending time with family and our two Belgian shepherds.

The last time I feared for my life…  I actually have never feared for my life.

If I can, I always try to avoid…  Long haul flights – I hate them. I would rather spend the extra money and fly direct.

I really wish I had…  There really isn’t anything I really wish I had right now.

The best advice I’ve ever received was…  There is no “I” in team!

I don’t understand why…   People can’t “carpe diem” – seize the day.

My greatest weakness is…  My shyness. But weakness can always be turned into a positive and I am working on my shyness.

And my greatest strength…  We all have different strengths within the business. I’m the balance, Susan is the drive and Candace is the creativity.

If I was prime minister I would…  Put more money into the travel industry of course!

If I won $1 million on the lottery I would…  If I won the lottery I would make sure that it was shared between my family and a couple of close friends.  And I must admit I have always told my sister and mother that if we won the lottery or when we make it big with Gypsian I would splurge and buy myself a Hermes Birkin handbag.  I have a slight soft spot for great handbags.

I f I could be someone else for one day I would be…  There is no one else I would rather be; I love my life right now. I have a great family that I love and a great business that is taking off.

I’ve always wanted to travel to…  Prague, I haven’t had the chance to go yet but it looks amazing, especially in the winter.

My favourite holiday was…  Every time I travel I think it’s my favorite holiday because they are all fabulous in there own ways.

You’ve all heard of boutique hotels, I’m sure. The idea is that each place is unique, rather than being part of a huge hotel chain and virtually indistinguishable from the other ones – at least once you’re inside your room.

A more recent concept is that of the boutique tour operator – once again individuality is the fundamental principle; these companies take most of the hard work out of planning a special trip and yet you’ll never feel like you’re on a package deal.

I’m always on the lookout for new companies that offer products and services which Grown-up Travel Guide readers would be interested in. This week I discovered  Gypsian Boutique Tours – an outfit based in Australia offering an excellent range of experiential solo and small group tours where comfort and discovery are top priority.

It’s clear from the outset that the people behind Gypsian are true travellers and that the trips they offer are the ones they would want to take themselves.

Solo travel is great but we’ve long championed the small group model here too – it’s wonderful to share experiences with new friends and to gain real insight into a destination nothing beats the services of a professional guide.

Unlike travelling as part of a big group, participating in a Gypsian small group tour allows a more relaxed style and the chance to visit places that tour buses can’t access.

The local culture is the main focus – you will learn all about customs, traditions and the people in a way that you may struggle to if travelling on your own.

These tours are also designed for the more mature guest – you won’t find full-moon parties on the itinerary. With just 8-12 people in each group, you won’t get lost in the crowd and you will still feel like an independent traveller.

Just look at some of the options – how about finally getting to stay in one of those fabulous riads in Morocco, enjoying a private yacht in the Mediterranean or overnighting in a cave hotel in Cappadocia – then taking to the skies in a hot air balloon the next day for the ultimate view?

My personal favourites from the Gypsian Boutique Tours range would be to visit Croatia, Spain and Morocco and Turkey – but they are also planning new adventures including an 18 day tour to Iran which sounds incredible – there would certainly be no better way to experience this country than with a guide and a group. It’s still not easy to travel independently i Iran so I would highly recommend going with a company.

So by now you should be convinced – head over to the Gypsian website and have a look at what they have to offer!

Andy Higgs

I know what it's like to go from being a crazy backpacker without a care in the world, via being a vaguely sensible parent to being an adventurer once more. In other words, evolving into a Grown-up Traveller.

Like everyone else, I love to travel, have visited a lot of countries and all that but my big thing is Africa.

I also own and run The Grown-up Travel Company as a travel designer creating personalised African itineraries for experienced adventurers
