CBD (cannabidiol) is the non-psychoactive compound found in hemp plants. Unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD does not get you high.

No. CBD cannot get you high. Unlike THC (the component in the hemp plant that has psycho-active effects), CBD cannot get you high. Made in the UK, our products are made with the highest quality ingredients, with no THC.

Our bodies have an endocannabinoid system (ECS) - your ECS is a network of tiny receptors found throughout the body that play a crucial role in regulating the body's optimal balance. You can read more about how CBD may work with the ECS here .

Cannabinoids are naturally occurring compounds found in the cannabis sativa plant. The two most well-known cannabinoids are tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), but the cannabis plant produces over 100 cannabinoids, each with different properties and potential benefits.

Our bodies have to deal with stressors on a daily basis. These can leave the body struggling to stay in balance, leading to tiredness, anxiety, loss of productivity and creativity. Adaptogens are natural botanicals that can help the body to unwind so you can reset, rebalance and recalibrate.

All day every day! COLD BREW COFFEE is great for a caffeine kick to start the day or pre workout. We love PEACH GINGER to reset when the afternoon slump hits. TRIP is sociable and can be enjoyed anytime, solo or mixed into cocktails (Gin TRIP anyone?)! Get creative + you do you.

Dosing is really personal - similar to how caffeine or alcohol can affect everyone differently. Feel free to start a new ritual and start with a lower regular  dose (15-30 MG per serve), note how you feel and dose up with additional drinks or oils if you would like to double down.

From AM to PM, CBD can be taken at any time to find a moment of calm. We recommend creating morning and evening rituals with a few drops of CBD oil first thing in the morning and just before you go to bed at night to unwind after a stressful day.

This product is a food supplement. It shouldn’t be used as a substitute for a varied diet and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease. CBD oils should be kept out of reach of children and aren’t recommended for pregnant or breast-feeding women. TRIP CBD Oil Review: Worth Buying – Or Not?

Trip CBD Oil

CBD has become a pretty massive deal over recent years. A recent survey showed that 29% of UK residents have now tried CBD products. This is unsurprising when they’re so ubiquitous on almost every high street. Even household names like Boots and Holland and Barrett sell CBD nowadays.

I published a review of Trip CBD drinks some time ago. I now follow that with this Trip CBD Oil review. But before I get into it, I shall tell you a little about my own experience with CBD, and add a few (perhaps controversial) opinions about the CBD industry in general. Let’s begin.

The CBD Marketplace

Anybody keen to learn about the benefits of CBD soon discovers that it’s all a bit of a minefield. It’s a crowded market with a lot of lofty claims, and no shortage of – frankly – garbage products that are not worth the money.

I was something of an “early adopter” when it comes to CBD. I’ve been using a wide range of products on an (almost) daily basis for several years. I’m also an obsessive researcher, and have spent many many hours learning about the technicalities of how CBD works, dosages, and the meaning of mysterious terms like “isolate” and “full spectrum.” (More on those in a moment).

A side effect of this is that, over recent years, I’ve found myself in many high street shops being told absolute nonsense about some of the CBD products on sale. You really do have to do your research to ensure you end up with products that provide genuine benefit. (A spoiler for this Trip CBD Oil review is that Trip is one of the more decent ones, but we’ll come to that in a minute!)

I suspect a fair few of the 29% of Brits who have tried CBD have ended up disappointed – not because it wouldn’t ever work for them, but because they were using a crappy product, or something with a dosage so low it would be unlikely to do anything useful.

I guess the above should serve as some reassurance that I know what I’m talking about then it comes to CBD. Let’s talk a little about how it’s helped me, and why I continue to take it.

CBD Benefits – And My Experiences

Much has been written about the mental and physical health benefits of using CBD. I must mention that I’m not making any health claims whatsoever, and can only comment on my own experiences.

Healthline lists the following as health benefits of CBD, based on research:

  • Better sleep.
  • Reduced pain and inflammation.
  • Better heart health.
  • Relief from IBD symptoms.
  • Reduced anxiety and depression.

Personally, my two main reasons for using CBD are to relieve anxiety, which I struggle with, and to help with sleep and insomnia.

CBD has helped enormously with my sleep. I feel that it helps me to relax, and definitely helps to “take the edge off”, allow me to unwind in the evening, and (sometimes) ease my racing thoughts.

I say sometimes, because CBD isn’t a miracle cure. If my anxiety is particularly high, CBD can relieve it, but it won’t cure it. Most of the time, CBD helps me get a really good, solid nights sleep, and also helps me drift off much more easily. But every now and then I’ll still get one of my insomnia nights – they’re just much rarer these days.

I’ll come back to some more general discussion around CBD later in this Trip CBD review – but let’s get on and talk about the product.

Trip CBD Oil Review: First Impressions

Trip has become a very successful UK CBD brand. When I first tried Trip drinks, I ordered them online, but you now see them all over the place. Both the drinks and the oil are now stocked in Holland and Barrett, and you can find all of Trip’s products on Amazon UK .

I personally like Trip’s branding and packaging. It feels premium, and I particularly like the attractive oil bottles (although a little see-through section so you could see how much is left would perhaps make sense!)

Trip CBD Oil Bottle

Interestingly, I happened upon an animated Facebook discussion recently, where a few people were criticising Trip’s choice of brandname. They felt that the word “Trip” had negative, drug-related connotations. I guess it’s a point of debate, but it all seemed a little silly to me. We’re all grown-ups and Trip’s wellbeing focused marketing certainly doesn’t seem to point to psychoactive effects. Anybody looking for such will be sorely disappointed with any CBD products available in the UK!

Trip CBD Oil: Ingredients and Credentials

Trip CBD Oil is made from “the highest quality, vegan, gluten-free CBD.”

Fair enough – I mean it’s not as if any CBD has meat or gluten in it, but it’s still a true statement!

Trip also adds botanicals such as ginseng, turmeric and and chamomile to its CBD oil. This is something I’m seeing more and more in CBD products these days. With Trip, it certainly has a flavour benefit, as I talk about below. Beyond that, I’ve not noticed anything tangibly different, effects-wise, compared to other CBD products.

Trip uses “premium CBD derived from hemp” and is made in the UK. The company’s website says that all products are third-party lab tested, and that people can get in touch with any questions. Lab certificates are not availabel on the Trip website, or at least not that I found.

Is Trip CBD Oil Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum or Isolate?

The ingredients on the bottle of Trip CBD oil I have in front of me state:

  • MCT Oil (from coconuts).
  • Natural mint flavouring.
  • Chamomile extract.

What it doesn’t state is whether the CBD is full spectrum, broad spectrum or CBD isolate.

In case you’re wondering what on earth I’m banging on about, here’s a quick explanation.

Full spectrum CBD products include not just CBD, but a whole host of other cannabinoids – usually including a (legal) trace amount of THC – the bit of cannabis that gets you high.

This doesn’t mean that a full-spectrum CBD product will get you high, but many people believe that this closeness to how nature intended it creates an “entourage effect,” delivering the effects of CBD at their best.

(For what it’s worth, I do tend to find that full spectrum products often provide the most notable “effects” (such as they are), such as a notable onset of relaxation. However, no legal CBD product in the UK gets you “high.”

Broad Spectrum is essentially the same as full spectrum, but with all of the THC removed.

Isolate is usually 99+% pure CBD – and best for those who want to avoid even the tiniest trace of THC and other cannabinoids. It’s CBD in its purest form – which is either a benefit or disadvantage depending on your viewpoint.

I’m guessing that Trip CBD oil is isolate-based. I’ve contacted the company to confirm, and will update this review as soon as I know.

Trip CBD Review: My Experiences

I’ve used both varieties of Trip CBD oil (Wild Mint and Chamomile and Orange Blossom and Chamomile) over a period of several months. In both incidences, I’ve chosen the stronger 1000mg variety, over the weaker 300mg. (I discuss dosage below).

I usually take somewhere between half and two-thirds of a dropper when I’m relaxed in bed and almost ready to sleep. I find that Trip’s oil sees me drifting off very quickly once it’s kicked in – usually after 30-45 minutes.

Trip CBD Oil bottles

I almost always sleep very well after taking CBD. I also tend to have very vivid dreams. This can be a good or a bad thing. I recently suffered a bereavement and my mind had a lot to process. Vivid is good when the dreams are good – but not so much when they’re bad! However, I did some Googling and found out many positive benefits of the subconcious processing things when we sleep. I now take more of a “bring it on” attitude to my dreams – whatever they turn out to be.

I do also find that I often tend to wake up feeling nice and chilled after using Trip’s CBD – which is lovely on a Saturday or Sunday morning.

One thing I particularly like about Trip’s CBD oil is the taste. I don’t mind the earthy cannabis taste that you get from some CBD oils, but some people hate it, and it’s not always what you want. I particularly like Trip’s Wild Mint variety, because I can use it after brushing my teeth without immediately wanting to brush again!

I tend to use CBD oil as a bed time thing (I prefer gummies and vapes for any daytime use, which is only occasional for me). Mileage will inevitably vary for treating conditions like stress, anxiety, depression and IBS.

A Word on Dosage

Each full dropper of Trip’s strong variety contains approximately 66mg of CBD.

CBD dosage is an incredibly personal thing. Some people claim to have positive results after three drops of a weak oil, others claim to need much more. The UK Food Standards Agency has recently started recommending a maximum of 70mg per day.

I’m not sure what science that’s based on. Clinical studies have used daily dosages of anything from 20mg to a staggering 1500mg per day.

For what it’s worth, I take somewhere between 25mg and 70mg per day usually. However, that’s not advice on a recommended dosage for you .

There are two other things that cloud the dosage debate even further. They’re both a bit scientific, but if you really want CBD to work for you, it’s worth doing some study.

The first is bioavailability. This is all about how much CBD actually gets into your system depending on how you consume it. Vaping CBD, for example, delivers far more of the active ingredient than a swallowed product. That’s why many people recommend taking oil by leaving it under your tongue for a minute or so before swallowing. (This is a good primer on bioavailability ).

Even more technical is the fact that CBD seems to work on “an inverted U-shaped dose-response curve.” As I understand it, that means that there’s an optimal dose for everybody, and both too little and too much can mean missing that optimal dose.

How the above seems to translate for me is that while the “right” dose of CBD can make me relaxed and perhaps even sleepy, too much doesn’t make me more relaxed or sleepy. It can go the other way, and I go beyond sleepy and into energised.

What I’m saying here – perhaps in a rather long-winded way – is that you really do have to find your OWN dosage. There’s no easy route to that, with everybody and every body being very different.

Trip CBD: Value

The standard price for Trip CBD Oil, per 15 ml bottle is:

  • £18 for 300mg.
  • £39 for 1000mg.

This is a fair and average price for this kind of product, and it’s worth mentioning that it often seems to be on offer. (For example, the 1000mg was £25 at the time of writing this). Note that you can also save 15% and with code AFFTRIP15 using this link .

Trip CBD deserves its place in my medicine cabinet.

It feels like a… clean product in every way – from the high-end packaging to the effects. It tastes good, and not “weedy”, which is pretty rare for CBD oil. I personally find that it relaxes me and helps me to sleep and dream.

Recommended.

(Please note that while I self-purchased my first bottle of oil for this Trip CBD Oil review , the second was sent to me free of charge. My opinion cannot be bought, and these opinions are solely my own).

Trip CBD Oil Review

A good, mainstream UK CBD product. I’d like a little more transparency on lab tests and the type of CBD used, but I’m happy using this with confidence.

Thanks for the review, really helpful. You mentioned gummies, which do you recommend and how do they taste?

I have been using gummies more often recently. The ones from Orange Country CBD are worth a try. I plan to publish a review of them at some point.

Diving into the world of CBD oil can feel overwhelming, with so many ways to use it and dosages to consider. One important fact about this versatile oil is that proper administration can amplify its potential benefits, from easing anxiety to managing pain.

Our guide will walk you through using CBD oil step by step, ensuring you get the most out of every drop. Let’s explore how to unlock the goodness of CBD together!

Key Takeaways

  • Start taking CBD oil with low doses and increase slowly to find what works for you.
  • There are many ways to use CBD oil, like under your tongue, in food or drink, or on your skin.
  • Check the laws in your area because the rules for using CBD oil can be different.
  • Talk with a doctor before using CBD oil if you take other medicines or have health issues.
  • Some people might feel side effects from CBD oil like dry mouth or feeling tired.

Understanding CBD Oil

A photo of CBD oil dropper bottle in a natural setting.

CBD oil comes from the hemp plant . It has a special part called cannabidiol, or CBD for short. This is not the same as THC, which is what makes people feel high when they use marijuana.

CBD does not make you high at all. Instead, it might help your body in many ways.

Lots of folks use CBD oil to feel better from pain , stress, and sleep problems. You can find it in drops, sprays, gummies and even lotions. When using CBD oil for the first time, go slow with small amounts to see how your body reacts before taking more.

How to Take CBD Oil

A person adding CBD oil to a smoothie in a modern kitchen.

You can take CBD oil in various ways, including in a tincture, capsule, smoothie, coffee, salad dressing, vape pen, sweet treats, topical rub or balm, and even in a cocktail. Each method offers its own benefits and considerations for proper usage.

In a tincture

A tincture is one way to take CBD oil that gets into your bloodstream fast. You use a dropper to put drops under your tongue. This area has lots of tiny blood vessels, so the CBD can get into your body quickly.

Hold the liquid there for about a minute before swallowing.

For new users, adding 1-2 drops of a tincture under the tongue might be best. Try this method and see how you feel after 30 minutes. It’s easy to do and doesn’t take much time or effort.

In a capsule

CBD oil in a capsule is a simple way to take your dose. Just like any regular pill, you swallow it with water. Check the label for how much to take and follow those instructions. Start with less if you’re new, as this can help your body get used to CBD oil.

Wait about 30 minutes to feel any effects after taking a capsule.

Capsules make it easy to know exactly how much CBD you’re getting each time. They are great for when you’re on the go or if you don’t like the taste of CBD oil by itself. Since capsules pass through your digestive system, they might take longer to work than some other methods but they are still an effective way to use CBD oil.

In a smoothie

You can easily incorporate CBD oil into your morning routine by adding it to a smoothie. After preparing your favorite smoothie, simply drizzle the recommended dosage of CBD oil into the blender and mix it in thoroughly.

This method allows you to enjoy the potential health benefits of CBD while sipping on a delicious and nutritious drink. The combination of CBD oil with fruits and other healthy ingredients creates a refreshing way to start your day with an added wellness boost.

Moving on to the next method of taking CBD oil – In coffee..

Adding CBD oil to your morning coffee is a creative way to incorporate it into your daily routine. The combination of the stimulating effects of caffeine and the potential calming properties of CBD can create a balanced start to your day, making it an appealing option for many.

Since both substances are fat-soluble, adding a small amount of coconut oil or cream to your coffee along with the CBD oil can enhance its absorption in your body, ensuring you get the most out of this unique mix.

As you explore different ways to take CBD oil, blending it into your daily cup of coffee could offer a convenient and enjoyable experience. Incorporating it into familiar rituals such as having coffee in the morning may make integrating CBD oil into your routine feel effortless.

In a salad dressing

Mixing CBD oil into a salad dressing can be an easy and flavorful way to incorporate it into your daily routine. When creating your salad dressing, start by blending the desired amount of CBD oil with other ingredients like olive oil, vinegar, honey, and seasonings.

The important thing is to ensure that the CBD oil is evenly distributed throughout the dressing for consistent dosing. By adding this to your salads or meals, you may benefit from the potential health effects of CBD while enjoying a tasty dish.

CBD oil in salad dressings offers a creative way to consume it, allowing for customization based on personal flavor preferences. Keep in mind that when using CBD oil in recipes such as salad dressings, accurately measuring the dosage is crucial to ensure proper consumption.

In a vape pen

When using a vape pen, CBD oil is heated and inhaled as vapor. This method provides quick absorption into the bloodstream through the lungs, allowing for rapid onset of effects. Vape pens offer a discreet and convenient way to consume CBD oil with customizable dosages, making it an attractive option for many users seeking fast relief.

Understanding how to properly use a vape pen is crucial in ensuring its effectiveness and safety. Vaping can be an efficient method for experiencing the potential benefits of CBD oil, particularly for those looking for immediate relief from symptoms.

However, it’s essential to carefully select high-quality CBD vape products and follow recommended usage guidelines to achieve optimal results without compromising health or safety.

In sweet treats

After exploring various methods of taking CBD oil, you might be interested in incorporating it into your sweet treats. Adding CBD oil to desserts can be a fun and tasty way to enjoy its potential benefits.

Whether you’re making brownies, cookies, or chocolates, adding a few drops of CBD oil to the mix can infuse your sweet treats with an extra touch of relaxation.

When it comes to using CBD oil in sweet treats, keep in mind that proper dosage is crucial for achieving the desired effects. It’s important to measure the amount of CBD oil accurately to ensure that each serving contains an appropriate dose.

In a topical rub or balm

When using CBD oil in a topical rub or balm, it can be applied directly to the skin to target specific areas of discomfort. The cannabinoids in the balm are absorbed through the skin and interact with nearby cannabinoid receptors, potentially providing localized relief for joint pain, muscle soreness, or other sources of discomfort.

This method allows you to enjoy the potential benefits of CBD oil without ingesting it orally.

Moving on to Administering CBD Oil –

In a cocktail

Mixing CBD oil into a cocktail is a trendy and enjoyable way to incorporate it into your routine. When making a cocktail, ensure to use water-soluble CBD, which easily blends in without affecting the drink’s taste or texture.

It offers a convenient and discreet method of consuming CBD oil while enjoying your favorite beverage. Some studies suggest that when combined with alcohol, CBD may reduce blood alcohol levels and offer potential health benefits.

Remember always to be cautious about the amount of alcohol consumed when using CBD in cocktails, as interactions between alcohol and cannabinoids can affect individuals differently.

Administering CBD Oil

Administering CBD oil can be done through sublingual application , oral ingestion, topical application, or inhalation. Each method has its own benefits and considerations, so it’s important to understand the best approach for your needs.

To learn more about the different ways to administer CBD oil and determine which method is right for you, continue reading the rest of this step-by-step guide.

Sublingual Application

When taking CBD oil, one effective method for quick absorption is sublingual application. You can do this by placing a few drops of the oil directly under your tongue. This allows it to enter your bloodstream faster through the capillaries in that area, ensuring quicker effects.

Sublingual administration ensures that you get the maximum benefits from CBD oil due to its rapid absorption into your system.

Determining the right dosage and method of administration are crucial aspects when starting with CBD oil. Now let’s dive into other ways to use and administer CBD oil effectively.

Oral Ingestion

CBD oil can be taken orally by swallowing it directly, but this method may take longer to produce effects since the oil has to pass through your digestive system before entering your bloodstream.

When ingested orally, CBD oil can be added to food or beverages such as smoothies, coffee, salad dressings, and even sweet treats. It’s important to note that when you consume CBD oil orally, its effects might take longer to kick in compared to sublingual application.

Additionally, remember that the dosage needed for oral ingestion may differ from sublingual administration due to differences in absorption rates.

When taking CBD oil orally, the onset of effects may vary depending on individual factors like metabolism and whether you’ve eaten recently; however generally it takes about 30 minutes up to 2 hours for the effects of oral ingestion of CBD oil to be felt.

It’s essential for consumers new to using CBD oil or considering oral ingestion methods to start with a low dosage and gradually increase it as needed while closely monitoring their body’s response.

Topical Application

To apply CBD oil topically, you can simply rub it onto your skin in the area where you want relief. This method allows for targeting specific areas of discomfort like sore muscles or joints.

The skin can absorb CBD and its beneficial properties directly into the affected area, potentially providing localized relief from pain or inflammation without entering the bloodstream.

When applying topical CBD products , ensure that your skin is clean and dry before application to maximize absorption. Plus, incorporating CBD-infused balms or rubs into your daily skincare routine may offer nourishing benefits to your skin as a whole.

Inhaling CBD oil is another method of administration, which involves using a vape pen or vaporizer. This method allows the CBD to enter your bloodstream through your lungs, providing quick effects.

However, it’s crucial to be cautious about the quality of the vaping products and ensure they do not contain harmful additives that could pose health risks.

Additionally, inhaling CBD may not be suitable for everyone, especially those with respiratory issues or concerns about lung health. It’s important to consult with a healthcare professional before choosing this method of CBD oil administration to ensure it aligns with your overall health and wellness goals.

Determining the Right Dosage of CBD Oil

To determine the right dosage of CBD oil for you, it’s crucial to start low and gradually increase until you find the ideal amount that works for your specific needs. Beginners should begin with a low dosage, typically around 20-40 mg per day.

It’s advisable to monitor how your body responds and then slowly adjust the dosage as needed. Consider factors such as your body weight, individual metabolism, and the severity of the symptoms you are targeting.

Keeping a journal can be helpful in tracking your progress and any changes in symptoms or side effects related to different dosages.

When determining the right dosage of CBD oil, it’s important to consider its concentration level as well. For instance, if you’re using a tincture with a higher concentration, you’ll require less volume compared to a lower potency product.

Additionally, consulting with a healthcare professional with expertise in CBD use or medical cannabis can provide valuable guidance based on your specific health conditions and medications you may be taking.

Moreover, considering potential drug interactions is essential when deciding on the appropriate CBD dosage for you.

When to Take CBD Oil

Determining the right time to take CBD oil is crucial for its effectiveness, whether it’s for managing chronic pain or promoting relaxation. To learn more about the best timing and usage for specific conditions, keep reading this guide!

Morning or Evening Use

In determining when to use CBD oil, consider your needs. In the morning, you may want to start your day with a dose to help manage anxiety or promote focus . Meanwhile, in the evening, taking CBD can support relaxation and improve sleep quality .

The flexibility of CBD oil allows for personalized use based on individual requirements and lifestyle. Some users find it beneficial to split their daily dosage between morning and evening for consistent support throughout the day.

Finding the right time to take CBD depends on its intended effects. Some people prefer using it as part of their morning routine for increased alertness and stress management during the day while others utilize it before bed for better sleep quality and relaxation at night.

Usage for Specific Conditions

For specific conditions like lennox-gastaut syndrome or dravet syndrome, CBD oil has shown potential in reducing the frequency and severity of seizures. It can also help manage nerve pain, symptoms of psychosis, and social anxiety.

When considering CBD oil for these conditions, it’s important to consult with a healthcare professional to determine the appropriate dosage and method of administration. Additionally, CBD oil may be used as a dietary supplement for managing cravings and promoting natural health.

Research suggests its potential benefits in alleviating symptoms of depression, schizophrenia, and psychotic symptoms without causing psychoactive effects commonly associated with THC.

CBD capsules offer a convenient way to incorporate cannabidiol into your daily routine, while sublingual application allows for faster absorption into the bloodstream when immediate relief is needed for certain conditions.

Is CBD Oil Legal?

CBD oil derived from hemp plants containing less than 0.3% THC is legal in many states across the United States, as per the Farm Bill of 2018 . However, it’s essential to be aware of your state’s specific regulations regarding CBD oil to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations.

The legality of CBD oil can also vary internationally, so it’s crucial to research and understand the legal status of CBD oil in your country before purchasing or using it for any purpose.

Please let me know if you need further assistance!

Potential Side Effects of CBD Oil

While CBD oil has numerous potential health benefits, some individuals might experience side effects. These can include dry mouth, drowsiness, and changes in appetite or weight. Additionally, there may be interactions with certain medications, so it’s crucial to consult a healthcare professional before adding CBD oil to your regimen.

Research suggests that high doses of CBD could potentially lead to liver complications in some cases.

It’s important to note that while the side effects are possible, they often occur when CBD is taken in high amounts or used alongside other medications. Always start with a low dosage and monitor how your body responds.

If you notice any adverse reactions or concerns about drug interactions, seek medical advice promptly from a healthcare provider well-versed in cannabis medicine.

9. When to Seek Medical Advice.

When to Seek Medical Advice

If you experience any unexpected adverse effects after taking CBD oil, like dizziness, nausea, or changes in mood or appetite, it’s crucial to seek medical advice promptly. Additionally, if you’re on prescription medications and considering using CBD oil concurrently, consulting with a healthcare professional is essential to prevent potential interactions.

It’s also important to seek medical guidance before using CBD oil if you are pregnant or breastfeeding to ensure its safety for you and your baby. Furthermore, for individuals with underlying health conditions such as liver disease or a compromised immune system, consulting a healthcare provider before starting CBD oil is highly recommended.

Remember that seeking medical advice can provide personalized insights on the safe usage of CBD oil based on individual health circumstances.

CBD oils might interact with some prescription medications resulting in unwanted effects such as increased sedation or toxicity levels so consulting with a doctor is crucial. Also especially during pregnancy and while breastfeeding get advice from a healthcare professional prior to taking CBD oils.

If one has existing chronic illnesses such as liver diseases – talking to a doctor first aids in avoiding further complications due to the interaction between the illness and the use of CBD oils.

In conclusion, taking CBD oil properly involves careful consideration of administration methods and dosages. Understanding the different ways to take CBD oil, such as sublingually or through capsules, is essential for its effectiveness.

Beginners should start with low doses and gradually increase until desired effects are achieved. By following these steps and considering individual needs and preferences, one can make the most of the benefits that CBD oil offers in alleviating various health issues.

It’s important to seek reliable information when using CBD oil to ensure safe and effective consumption for overall well-being.

1. What is CBD oil made from?

CBD oil comes from the cannabis plant, like hemp or sometimes other types of cannabis plants.

2. How do you take CBD oil the right way?

You can take CBD oil under your tongue, which is called taking it sublingually. This means you just drop it there and wait a little before swallowing.

3. Is CBD oil safe to use with my medicine?

Always talk to your doctor if you’re using other medicines like antidepressants or anticonvulsants because CBD might affect how they work.

4. Can kids use CBD oil for epilepsy?

Yes, some kids with seizure disorders who have epilepsy may get help from a special kind of FDA approved cannabidiol (CBD) oil but only when doctors say it’s okay.

5. Will I get addicted to CBD Oil?

CBD isn’t like THC found in weed which can cause addiction; most people don’t get addicted to pure cannabidiol (CBD) oils.

6. Are there tests that show what’s in my CBD Oil?

Sure! Look for something called a certificate of analysis which will tell you exactly what’s inside your bottle of cannabidiol (CBD) oil.

10 essential oils for travel: bring these on your next trip.

Making plans to travel can be extremely exciting but also a little nerve-wracking.

Some people love the experience of hopping on airplanes, while others find it to be stressful or uncomfortable. Depending on where you’re traveling and the length of your trip, sometimes travel anxiety is hard to avoid.

If you plan to take a trip somewhere soon, you may benefit from using essential oils to keep those travel-related worries at bay.

Can You Carry Essential Oils On A Plane?

bringing essential oils on plane

Travel guidelines can be tricky to navigate, especially when it comes to carrying essential oils. You may not want to leave your essential oils in a checked suitcase because there is a possibility they could spill or break. If necessary, you can easily pack them in a way that ensures they’ll be protected and arrive safely when you land.

However, if you use essential oils to help ease your travel worries, you probably want to carry them on board with you to use when needed. One thing to note is that most airports have restrictions on what you can bring on board with you. When traveling, the standard TSA rule is that you can bring containers that contain up to 3.4 ounces of liquid, and you can bring as many of these containers as you want, as long as they are individually 3.4oz or less.

Most essential oil bottles are 0.5oz in size, so you should be fine to bring them aboard. Just make sure to pack them well in a ziplock bag in order to avoid any spills or damage to the bottles.

Essential Oils That Kill Germs In The Air

essential oils that kill germs in air

There are plenty of movies and TV shows that portray train stations and airports as romantic settings full of possibility. While there is something special about traveling, the truth is that these settings are also full of germs. People shuffle in and out of these spaces all day, every day.

For the germaphobes reading this article, here are a couple of essential oils that are commonly used to cleanse the air around you (and even potentially boost your immune system).

Tea Tree Oil

This essential oil has powerful properties that can kill bacteria and viruses in the air. This 2006 study looks at how tea tree essential oil has antimicrobial properties that may help fight infections both topically and in the air. In fact, some people use tea tree oil as a natural hand sanitizer because it has been shown to kill viruses such as the flu, E. coli, and more.

Eucalyptus Oil

A 2012 study showed that there are strong antiviral properties found in eucalyptus oil that can help to treat & prevent infections. In addition to these properties, eucalyptus oil has a refreshing aroma that can open airways and relieve congestion with anti-inflammatory effects.

Essential Oils That Give You Energy

essential oils for energy

Another factor of traveling and vacations is the amount of time and energy it takes to get to and from your destination. Whether you are driving, flying, or taking other transportation– it’s essential to stay alert & awake. Now, you may have a 20-hour flight that you can get some sleep on, but you also will probably suffer from jet lag.

When it comes to traveling, sometimes drinking coffee isn’t enough to keep you energized along the way. These essential oils can help give you a clear mind and boost of energy to stay awake & beat fatigue during your journey.

Rosemary Oil

Rosemary is known to have stimulating properties that can awaken your mind. A 2012 study concluded that when used for aromatherapy inhalation, rosemary oil has positive stimulative effects on mood, brain activity, and other responses.

Most citrusy essential oils provide an awakening and energizing effect, especially when inhaling the aroma. The vibrant scent of lemon oil has even been shown to improve productivity in factory work environments.  A 2010 study looked at the effects of lemon essential oil aromatherapy and noted that it could improve cognitive function. That being said, it may help you stay alert during exhausting days of travel.

Peppermint Oil

The minty, refreshing scent of peppermint oil is well known to awaken your senses to help you energize. In 2013, a study looked at the effects of peppermint oil on athletic performance. Among the results of this study, it was shown that peppermint oil aromatherapy can help prevent fatigue.

Our boomboom mint variety nasal inhaler pack uses the perfect blend of peppermint oil, spearmint oil, eucalyptus oil, and other natural flavors to give you a refreshing boost of energy and focus.

Essential Oils That Help You Relax

essential oils to relax

Many people who don’t like to travel will say that it makes them feel nervous or anxious. Traveling is something that forces you out of your comfort zone, which can easily throw off your mood and emotions. In fact, the fear of traveling (known as hodophobia) is one of the most common phobias worldwide.

Your fear may be related to past experiences or more specific concerns like the fear of flying. Most people will have some kind of fear related to travel– some cases more severe than others. It may be common, but it’s still hard to manage. That’s why we wanted to share some essential oils that can help you get rid of those anxious feelings during your trip.

Anxious or nervous feelings can feel suffocating at times, especially when traveling. The soothing aroma of lavender essential oil has been researched and shown to provide a calming effect on your nervous system and mental state. Many people use lavender oil to ease their anxiety & soothe their worries while traveling.

Sweet Orange

The sweet orange essential oil has been researched over the years and shown to provide a wide variety of positive benefits. A study in 2013 showed that inhaling this essential oil was effective in reducing stress levels in patients experiencing emotional/anxious feelings.

A 2015 study looked at the effects of geranium oil when used for inhalation for aromatherapy. This research showed that the essential oil was able to decrease physical symptoms of anxiety, including muscle tension and rapid breathing and providing mental relaxation.

Our boomboom essential oil "Relax Roll-On"   uses the perfect blend of these essential oils and more to ease anxiety & body pains, among other benefits.

Essential Oils That Help You Breathe Better

how to take trip oil

Traveling may cause you to experience trouble breathing due to anxiety, high altitudes, and other environmental factors. When you need a breath of fresh air to open up your airways on the go, certain essential oils can help you & improve your breathing .

This essential oil has anti-inflammatory properties that can refresh your respiratory system to help improve breathing. It has a minty aroma and soothing effect that can clear your sinuses, making it easier to breathe normally. It also can give you fresh breath during long travel days when you feel the need to freshen up but can’t brush your teeth.

Frankincense

Using frankincense oil for aromatherapy has been shown to benefit patients with COPD symptoms (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). One of the main symptoms of COPD is difficulty breathing, but this 2015 study showed that using frankincense oil was able to act as a highly effective treatment.

Frankincense is also commonly used to help relieve nausea or an upset stomach.

If you are interested in using essential oils to improve your breathing, check out our lineup of inhalers and roll-ons . These products use the perfect blend of spearmint and other essential oils to open your airways for enhanced breathing.

Final Thoughts

While traveling can be enjoyable and exciting for some people, it is a common source of stress for others (especially during a global pandemic). The physical and mental effects of travel-related stress may be tough to avoid, but they are manageable.

With the help of these 10 essential oils, you can prepare for a pleasant experience the next time you travel.

Another unintended feature is that you hoard up the mutants, and then jump onto their heads. Hi Tracey! I’m just trying to figure out how many drops of oils to put in the 2ml bottles for my purse and do you dilute them? Thanks, Donna

It depends on the recipe – but I usually do about 5-10 drops in a 2 ml bottle.

8 Essential oils for travel you need to have in your pack

by Leave a Comment

Essential oils are one of the best things ever invented. They have so many benefits. I can’t leave the house without one of my essential oils. They come in handy in many situations in day to day life. I even use essential oils for travel and am really happy with how they help with jet lag and motion sickness.

This post will introduce you to the benefits of essential oils for travel and essential oils for jet lag as well as a basic overview of why you should try essential oils for yourself.

Let’s get stuck in.

Why use essential oils for travel?

how to take trip oil

It’s pretty cool to be able to travel with something that will give you relief and help you in some way without going to a pharmacy.

The most common essential oils are; Bergamont, peppermint, lavender, eucalyptus, frankincense, rosemary and tea tree. You may even have these essential oils in your home without realising their incredible benefits!

These are probably some of the staples to take travelling because they can help in many situations.

The best essential oils for travel

1. bergamot.

how to take trip oil

Bergamot might almost be my all-time favourite essential oil for travel and everyday life. Bergamot is one of the best essential oils for flying anxiety (which I suffer from badly).

Bergamot is an awesome oil for relief if you are feeling nervous or feeling down and stressed. It uplifts, energises and smells amazing!

Some other cool facts about Bergamot is that it is derived from a citrus fruit tree which has a particularly strong aroma of citrus and spice. It can be used to improve blood circulation and serve as an anti-depressant.

It also has antibiotic and disinfectant properties which can help in preventing infections. If you’re suffering from headaches, pains or sprains Bergamont can actually help in easing the feeling of pain in the body. This may come in handy when you’re experiencing jet lag or run down.

There are probably 100 different benefits from Bergamot oil but a couple more include aiding digestion, skincare, helping body odour (could come in handy when you haven’t showered for days on your van life adventure?), reducing fever and killing germs ( Organicfacts ).

One of the best essential oils brands is located in Kaikoura in the South Island of New Zealand called Wildflower Botanicals. They smell amazing, work magic and the owner is incredibly talented. Check them out here.

2. Peppermint

how to take trip oil

The all-time best energiser and one of the best essential oils for focus.

Peppermint oil is magic and has a range of benefits. It is one of my favourite essential oils for motion sickness.

You could probably buy peppermint oil simply for its smell and feel-good aroma. It’s my favourite essential oil for travel when I need to feel awake after a long haul flight or if I need a little energy boost without having a coffee.

Peppermint oil is one of the best essential oils for nausea. It can also help reduce stomach aches and digestive issues. If you suffer from IBS, using peppermint oil or having peppermint tea can be extremely useful.

3. Lavender

how to take trip oil

The all-rounder! One of the best essential oils for meditation and the best essential oils for travel.

Lavender has a range of uses that may come in handy in almost any situation. I often use lavender on my pillow at night to help me sleep or rub it around my ears to help me relax.

Lavender oil has incredible relaxation components as it helps to relieve nervous tension, pain and aids sleep. The calming scent of lavender oil makes it perfect to reduce anxiety and depression symptoms which is great if you suffer from flight anxiety.

If you do suffer from flight anxiety and would like some tips on how to reduce your fear of flying head on over to my post: How To Deal With Your Fear Of Flying.

4. Eucalyptus

how to take trip oil

Getting the cold or flu? Feeling a bit run down while travelling? Eucalyptus is your friend!

Eucalyptus is one of the best essential oils for the flu and an incredible multi-talented oil. I’m sure you’re all aware of its benefits for helping to relieve symptoms of the common cold and flu as tissues are often lined with eucalyptus oil.

It has incredible anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties but it can also help with hair nourishing, itchy scalp, protecting from bugs, help with cold sores, reducing fever and bad breath to name a few benefits ( Up-nature ).

Definitely useful to pack in your travel bag!

5. Frankincense

how to take trip oil

The King of essential oils for travel sickness.

Another A list essential oil! Maybe you’re heading skiing on your travels? Or, hiking up a windy mountain? Frankincense is a good essential oil for travel as it can help relieve the effects of dry skin and sunburn.

Don’t apply it directly to your dry skin without diluting it first.

If you’re thinking of having a few cocktails on your travels then Frankincense is probably your number 1 essential oil for travelling as it is known to be a hangover cure!

One of the main reasons I use Frankincense is to help with feelings of stress.

6. Rosemary

how to take trip oil

Perhaps another hangover cure! Rosemary is actually an aromatic herb but has many more benefits than simply tasting nice!

Maybe you’re spending lots of time at the beach on your travels? Rosemary can help to condition hair to make it look healthy!

The main reasons Rosemary can help is to improve your memory, soothe digestive issues and relieve muscle aches and pains. It is an overall great essential oil to take travelling and to have in your house.

7. Tea Tree

how to take trip oil

Doing any outdoor activities on your travels? Tea tree oil is one of the best essential oils for bug repellent. And probably your must-have essential oil for travel. Especially if you are travelling through the west coast of the South Island of NZ where sandflies are most annoying! (Learn more about the West Coast here ).

Tea tree oil can help you out as it helps to soothe itchy bites and actually works as an insect repellant!

Tea tree oil comes from the leaves of a tea tree and can actually help with all sorts of things. It can be applied to the skin to help treat acne, lice, scabies, athlete foot, cuts, ear infections and even toothaches!

While I was travelling through NZ in my van I used tea tree oil a lot to help my itchy bites, heal scratches and bumps. It’s kind of like a first-aid solution!

If you would like to learn more about travelling NZ in a van check out my Vanlife section here.

8. My Favourite blend!

how to take trip oil

I mainly use a mix of essential oils for sleep, anxiety and stress relief, awareness and clarity.

They really help to ease my feelings of depression and anxiety and are particularly useful when I am feeling anxious on planes, trains, buses or even in situations that include talking to a bunch of people or new social situations.

I have definitely found one of my favourites by Inner Essentials and maybe you will love them too. It’s a blend of bergamot, frankincense, juniper, lavender and ylang-ylang aimed at reducing anxiety and stress it also is one of my favourite essential oils for seasickness.

I brought it from a market in Melbourne a few years ago and had to order some more because it is absolutely amazing!

The scent smells wonderful and is extremely relaxing. It helps me snap out of a stressful funk almost instantly when accompanied by a deep breath. I like to use it when I am feeling stressed at work or flying on a plane.

You can buy this blend in 10ml ($14 AUS) or 50ml bottles ($42 AUS) online from the Inner Essentials Facebook page and website . Just message Robyn who is super lovely and can sort you out or, add it to your shopping cart!

My top 2 essential oils for jet lag

All of the above oils can be used in some way to help cure your jetlag but I suggest the following two essential oils for jet lag that have helped me in the past.

how to take trip oil

  • Peppermint- It is like the Kind Daddy of essential oils helping you in many situations but particularly when you feel sick or like a zombie after travel. I suggest this one for all of your long haul flights!
  • Lavender – Another King Daddy. Sleeping in a dorm room with 8 others? Can’t sleep? Lavender oil should be able to help you out. Feeling stressed on a flight? Lavender oil’s got your back. I can’t rate it enough.

The best essential oil travel mist spray

By now you are aware of the benefits and incredible aroma of essential oils and that’s awesome. But, can you imagine how great essential oils are when transformed into an essential oil spray or mist?!

how to take trip oil

They provide the ultimate mindfulness tool in an easy access spray bottle, perfect for anywhere you go and small enough to slot into your hiking pack.

My favourite mists are from Combardis Elixirs . They are specially formulated to help you in specific areas such as love, abundance, freedom, clarity, inner strength and a whole lot more.

Karen has created a ray of special blends all designed for a specific mindful purpose unique to how you are feeling.

I can truly say the mists will pleasantly awaken your senses, improve your ability to focus on the area you need support in and leave you with a clear and calm state of mind ready to keep on keeping on!

When travelling you have limited room to squeeze in all the necessities but don’t worry, these mists are 50ml and pretty small. All of the mists have their own special essential oil blend, purified water, natural dispersant and are most importantly filled with LOVE. Below are the details of my favourite mists.

Free The Spirit

free the spirit

This is quite possible my favourite mist. It is so beautifully designed to really create the feeling of being free, perfect for when you are needing some extra confidence while travelling.

When spraying the mist I feel as though I am walking through a beautiful, lush forest full of nourishing trees while at the same time being kissed by the glistening sun, which is beaming down and rejuvenating my spirit.

The personal description on the bottle is:

“Open your heart and mind allowing your authentic and creative energy to flow”.

Followed by the affirmation:

“I am free to be me”.

The Ingredients are:

Lemongrass, Bergamont, Cedarwood and Ylang Ylang.

Spicy and woody with an uplifting vibe. The lemongrass is subtle but strong. The touch of bergamot instantly generates feelings of relaxation and calm. The mist is combined really well with a scent that you will want to spray again and again.

You can use it:

When you need to feel awake yet relaxed and are looking forward to a restful break. Maybe even at the airport? The essential oil spray is fantastic to use when you want to create positive energy, have a good weekend and feel excited, rejuvenated and alive.

Highest Potential

highest potential

Reach your potential with this amazing essential oil spray perfectly made to bring out the best version of yourself. I felt instantly alive, happy, awake and ready to start my day as soon as the mist had left the bottle and made its way to my crown.

Everything you were worrying about before is instantly removed from your thought, you will feel as though anything is possible and life is good.

“Remove any limiting beliefs, strengthen your confidence within and strive for the highest”.

“I am inspired to be the best version of me”.

The ingredients are:

Sweet Orange, Lime, Geranium, Patchouli, Ylang Ylang and Rose Otto.

Lovely Lavender

Sometimes the best vacations push us far out of our comfort zones. That could include landing in a place where you don’t speak the language, taking the kids on an extensive journey day, or even heading home for a large family gathering. That’s no reason for family drama or occasional sleeplessness to prevent you from having the time of your life. Keep Lavender and Lavender Vitality™ with you and you’ll be ready to roll.

  • Fight the occasional restlessness from time zone changes by adding Lavender Vitality to tea as part of your nighttime relaxation routine.
  • Breathe in Lavender for its calming scent before your daily vacation activities.
  • Massage Lavender into skin with V-6™ Vegetable Oil Complex for a soothing sensation after a day of sunbathing at the beach.

YL tip: Want a discreet and hands-free way to enjoy aromatherapy with Lavender? Fit an Aroma Ring with Lavender on your ear or nose so you can breathe in the calming scent whenever and wherever you need it.

How to travel with essential oils on a plane

If you’ll be flying over the holidays, you might wonder whether you can bring essential oils in your carry-on bag. The short answer is yes. Since essential oils are liquids and usually only contain 5 or 15 ml worth of oil, you can bring as many oil bottles as fit in a quart-size bag.

If you want to take more than that, you can put them in your checked luggage. Just be sure to tighten the caps securely so they don’t leak onto your clothes. You might also want to put them in a carrying case for good measure.

What travel gear should you pack on your trip?

When it’s time to travel, it is important to be prepared with the equipment you need to get you through your trip. We’ve got all of your travel necessities at YL Gear!

  • Simply throwing your essential oils in your luggage will make it difficult to find the oils when you need them. Pack an oil travel case like the August Case to easily organize and store your essential oils.

Suitcase sitting on bed with water bottle, Thieves Hand Sanitizing Wipes, Under The Mistletoe Lip Balm Set, Peppermint Essential Oil, and Bon Voyage Travel Pack - Young Living Lavender Life blog

  • Hydration is key when travelling. Oftentimes, we neglect to keep ourselves hydrated when we are stuck in the hustle and bustle of travel life. Bring a refillable water bottle like our Adeline Water Bottle to meet your daily water needs. Add your favorite Vitality oils or YL Vitality Drops to elevate your water and add a splash of flavor. If piping-hot drinks are your cup of tea, our Cooper Travel Mug will be your must-have travel sidekick.
  • You can’t travel without a bag. Make any getaway stylish with our Weekender Bag. This bag easily slides onto suitcase handles to make it convenient to carry, has metal feet to help it stand, and unzips on the bottom to accommodate shoes or other heavy or dirty items. Our Lorenzo Duffle Bag is another great travel option.
  • Pack your Savvy Minerals makeup products in our Savvy Minerals Makeup Case or Savvy Train Case for easy access and organization.

how to take trip oil

Do you have a family vacation, summer trip, or even a weekend getaway planned? When on the road or in the air, my oils are always with me. I make sure to take the extra time when packing to include these 5 favorite essential oils for traveling.

While traveling is usually an exciting adventure, there may be a few unexpected issues that arise while away from home. Having my oils with me brings me comfort and piece of mind.

I love knowing that if an itchy bug bite, car sick child, or smelly hotel room comes my way...I have a natural solution ready!

Do the results surprise you? I expected the majority would say they did but I didn't expect that 90% usually-always bring essential oils when traveling. That just shows how much we love essential oils!

Top 5 Essential Oils for Travel with Uses and Benefits by Loving Essential Oils

5 Essential Oils for Traveling

Here are my favorite essential oils for traveling, plus reasons why I like to use them when traveling. Your list may be a little different to accommodate you and your family and that is OK. Use this list as a jumping off point and bring what YOU need!

Quick Tip: Keep you travel bag and suitcase fresh by placing a few drops of your favorite essential oil on a tissue and put it inside the luggage. You may need to let it dry so it doesn't transfer any oil residue on your clothing or items in your suitcase.

More Essential Oils for Travel

Besides peppermint essential oil, tea tree oil and lemon essential oil, there are more essential oils that could be helpful during traveling.

Here are more oils that people find helpful when traveling: eucalyptus, rosemary, myrrh, bergamot, chamomile, Clary sage, geranium, juniper berry, marjoram, Melissa, neroli, palmarosa, patchouli, and sandalwood.

In addition, oils for relaxation and immune system are beneficial during the travel season.

Essential Oil Ideas for Travel

If you're looking for an energy boost, consider using lemon or grapefruit oil. These invigorating scents can help you feel more alert and focused, perfect for long days of sightseeing. Add a few drops to your diffuser or inhale directly from the bottle when you need a pick-me-up.

Lavender oil is one of the most popular essential oils and for good reason. Its calming and relaxing properties can be a great help when dealing with travel stress. Simply add a few drops to your diffuser or apply topically to your temples and wrists.

Another great option for travelers is peppermint oil. It can help relieve nausea and motion sickness, making it perfect for long car or plane rides. Simply dilute with a carrier oil and apply topically to your stomach or inhale as needed.

Essential Oils Accessories for Traveling

Here are some other supplies to think about adding to your packing list:

Essential Oil Car Diffuser

I love having an aromatherapy car diffuser in my car, especially for road trips. Last weekend I was on the road with my family and due to lots of curvy turns, I was getting a little nauseated (so was my oldest son). I just added several drops of peppermint to my car diffuser clip and the issue was gone!

Aromatherapy Inhalers

Essential oils have strong scents so they could potentially offend others around you in a car or airplane. A personal inhaler is a good option, prefill with the scent you anticipate needing and carry it with you!

Roller Bottles

Have some essential oils blends you can't live without? Roller bottles are a great way to bring them on the go, especially if they are a part of your daily routine. Prefill with essential oil blends you or your family will need on your trip.

I have a medium size carry case that I can easily grab and fill with all my essential oil goodies when traveling, but not completely overdo it :)

Carry Case for Purse

I also like to have a travel case and small vials filled with my oils in my purse.

Carrier Oils for Traveling

To apply essential oils topically when traveling, you will need to have an essential oil carrier with you.You can bring whatever you prefer, here are the two I like to travel with.

My favorite everyday carrier oil is jojoba oil . It absorbs good, mixes well with essential oils and great for all skin types. I like to fill a recycled 15 ml essential oil bottle with my carrier oil I am bringing, that way it is compact and easy to carry. It also allows me to plenty of space two bring another carrier oil if I need. Here is my favorite jojoba oil brand:

Unscented Lotion

This is an another easy way to apply essential oils topically without leaving any greasy feeling. I like to use unscented lotion with my bug repellent essential oils, pain rubs, and after shower moisturizer. Here is my favorite from Plant Therapy , even my husband liked it (and he is really picky with lotion!):

5 Tips to Avoid Jet Lag While Traveling

Are you traveling soon and worried about jet lag? You're not alone. Millions of people suffer from jet lag each year. But with these five tips, you can avoid jet lag and make your travel experience much more enjoyable.

  • Leave on your trip well rested and hydrated
  • Use flight as time to rest

5 Leakproof Containers for Carrying Oils & Sauces When Backpacking

By Alex Beale on January 13, 2021

Bottles from the Nalgene Medium Travel Kit

When you buy something through one of the links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission.

Not too long ago, I picked up a cheap silicone travel bottle from Walmart. I wanted something to take backpacking that would hold the olive oil needed to prep my nightly couscous.

Big mistake.

After ending up with an oily mess in my backpack, I decided to go back to the drawing board. I researched and then tried out the most popular containers hikers use to carry oils and sauces.

I learned that carrying oils and sauces with you when backpacking doesn’t have to be messy. You just need to know which containers work.

Here are 5 leakproof, ultralight options you can use on your next trip into the backcountry.

1. Nalgene Travel Bottle

Bottles from the Nalgene Medium Travel Kit

If you just need to take a small amount of oil or sauce, a tried-and-true option is a bottle from the Nalgene Medium Travel Kit .

This kit is a collection of leakproof plastic bottles with capacities of 1, 2, and 4 fluid ounces. Having bottles of varying capacities makes minimizing bulk and weight a cinch — you can always select the lightest and least bulky container that meets your needs.

The bottles are all compact, lightweight, durable, and dishwasher-safe. I’ve found them to be the perfect size for short camping and backpacking trips, such as overnighters or weekend excursions. They’re also versatile and suitable for holding pretty much anything, from spices to alcohol stove fuel  to biodegradable soap and shampoo .

Nalgene also makes a Small Travel Kit that doesn’t include the 4-fluid-ounce containers. And you can also purchase individual bottles at REI stores.

2. MiO Bottle

MiO bottle

Not looking for an entire bottle kit?

Consider an empty MiO bottle.

MiO is a liquid water flavoring that comes in a lightweight yet durable plastic container. Just pop the top, pour out the contents, wash the bottle, and it’s all set to hold roughly 1.5 fl oz of hot sauce, olive oil, or your flavoring of choice.

3. Platypus SoftBottle

A 0.5-liter Platypus SoftBottle

Maybe you’re setting out on a thru-hike. Maybe you’re prepping food for lots of people. Maybe you’re craving the calories.

In these situations, a Platypus SoftBottle is the best option. It’s a leakproof, ultralight, and compressible bladder available in two sizes: 0.5-liter and 1-liter.

I particularly love this option for large quantities because as you use it up it takes up less and less space in your pack. Eventually it’ll reach a point where it can fit inside your backpacking cook pot , reducing its added bulk to zilch.

4. Reusable Food Pouch

Reusable food pouch

Designed for baby food, reusable food pouches are similar to Platypus bladders except for one important difference. You fill them up from the bottom via a resealable zipper, rather than from the top.

The zipper on my pouch didn’t leak at all when I tested it. Though to be frank I’d be worried about the zipper wearing down over time and springing a tiny leak.

It’s hard to beat the size and weight of these pouches though. And you do earn style points for taking a panda pouch with you on the trail…

…at least in my book.

5. Mini Soda Bottle

A 12-oz soda bottle

A mini soda bottle: you might have one in your fridge or recycling bin right now. (If not, you can find packs of 8- or 12-fluid-ounce soda and water bottles at most grocery stores.)

Congrats, it’s now your oil or sauce container. Just wash it and peel off the label.

Plastic bottles are cheap and lightweight — a 12-ounce plastic Coke bottle weighs 0.88 oz. They’re reliable too: I occasionally use a 12-ounce soda bottle as my alcohol fuel container  and have never had a problem with it leaking.

Individual Pouches: An Alternative to Plastic Containers

Individual packets of Texas Pete Hot Sauce

A classic pre-trip ritual for many backpackers is to grab a meal at a nearby fast food joint before driving to the trailhead.

To ransack the restaurant’s condiment station.

You can find the classic condiments there of course, but some restaurants such as Chick-fil-A also put out individual packets of hot sauce. To get your hot sauce fix on the trail you might not even need to bring an extra container with you. Just pick up some free packets.

I’ve never seen individual packets of olive oil at a fast food restaurant, but you can find them online. Marconi packets are a popular option among backpackers which you can buy in bulk. You can no doubt find individual packets for sale online of whatever oil, sauce, condiment, or flavoring you want to take.

This method is lightweight, non-bulky, and convenient. The only downside is the increased amount of food waste you’ll need to pack out.

How to Drain Gas Tank in A Dusty Trip Roblox

This is how you empty the gas tank in A Dusty Trip when diesel or water is mixed into it.

' src=

A Dusty Trip throws you into the land where you must maintain your Stamina and Hunger while fighting the mutants to survive. Traveling on foot is not only dangerous but also draining for your character. So, repairing the vehicle and making sure the gas tank is filled becomes very crucial in such setups. However, it is easy to accidentally fill the tank with diesel and water, as the container is often the same for them.

When you do that, the car will stop working, and you will be stuck in an unknown path. Since no one would want to face this chaotic situation, especially after dark, we have given the simplest way to empty the gas tank of your car.

How to Remove Diesel and Water From Gas Tank in A Dusty Trip

Remove Diesel and Water From Gas Tank in A Dusty Trip

To empty your car’s gas tank, you must first remove the wheel supporting that section . When you do that the car will tilt – then you can open its lid and shake it to drain out everything from the tank. Taking out the adjacent wheel will make it tilt more, and you will be able to drain out diesel faster. Once you are sure that the tank is empty or only gas is remaining, pour some gas and try to start the engine.

If even after doing this, your car isn’t moving, then you should empty the engine . To do that, take out the engine from the car and right-click to rotate it until the cap is facing down. Now you need to wait for some time till it leaks the oil or something else that might have mixed with it. After making sure that it’s empty, fill the oil, place the engine and start the car.

With this, we wrap up the fastest way to empty a gas tank in A Dusty Trip. If you are new to the game and haven’t got the hang of the controls, then you should head over to our controls guide and check A Dusty Trip’s Trello for more information.

Lavender essential oil is a staple that every household should have on hand. It is a very universal oil that you can use in many ways even when away from home .

Many individuals are using lavender oil in different areas of their life already. It truly is one of the most versatile essential oils available. Many call it the “Swiss Army Knife” of oils.  It is good for just about anything, from soothing skin after sun exposure , to sleep and relaxation, or  first aid  on minor cuts and bruises. Use lavender in a carrier oil for a soothing back massage to aid pain and inflammation. The lavender oil will help to relax the muscles and ease tension. Lavender also helps keep bugs away and you can use it in a DIY bug repellent spray .

If you only bring one oil on your trip, I recommend it is lavender!

Peppermint essential oil

Inhaling essential oils provides both physical and mental advantages. Take a quick sniff straight out of the bottle to uplift your spirits or make your tummy feel less queasy. You can also use Peppermint oil topically to fight headaches that may arise during travel. I always use peppermint oil to fight the tiredness that comes with jet lag or a change in time zones.

Peppermint is a great oil to bring in a roll-on bottle or personal inhaler as well. Roller bottles allow for safe, quick and easy application, especially when treating a headache.

Traveling can be tough on the skin, so I like to pack an extra dose of Frankincense essential oil to add into my nightly skin care and facial care routine. It protects your skin and gently encourages healthy skin cell production. I also use it to keep on top of age spots and wrinkles.

If you tend to get nervous or anxious during travel, Frankincense oil can calm the spirits and aid you in feeling more secure while away from home. Some people also swear by Frankincense essential oil for headaches – whether you have stress related, tension headaches, or a full-blown migraine.

You don’t want to risk your oils while you’re on the go or your luggage may thrown around by airport staff.

taking essential oils on an airplane

Taking essential oils on an airplane is subject to liquid restrictions.

If your travel plans include airplanes, airports and flying, know that you can only take what will fit into the 1 quart-sized zip lock bag for liquids in your carry-on   ² . All carry-on liquids must be under 100 mL each, and as a total be shown in the clear 1 quart plastic bag when going through security. This clear plastic bag allows for 1 quart (= around 946 mL) of liquids in your carry-on, divided up between any liquids, aerosols, gels, creams, or pastes you may also wish to carry with you. Discount airlines may have stricter rules ³ .

There really are no issues traveling with oils, since most bottles are 10 ml – 30 ml in size.

For easiest use while on-the-go, pack personal inhalers or rollers to carry in your purse or carry-on luggage.

In your checked luggage , you can have as many oils as you wish or need. There are no further restrictions in regards to amounts, size, or total amounts for the checked bag(s). I have a zippered case and I travel with up to 30 oils in my checked luggage at any given time.

TIP: Put a piece of electrical tape around each bottle topper to secure them from leakage.

I am a newbie to this entire essential oil world so I truly appreciate your articles. I have contacts with both doTerra and Young Living but as a beginner I hesitate to spend that kind of money. I also question the sales method. I have ordered 2 starter kits and a diffuser from amazon-this is easiest for me living in Canada, so thanks for that direction

Great tips and suggestions!

Live updates, widowed dad should not take girlfriend on annual father-daughter trip, reddit users insist.

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

Happy family on a road trip in their car

A Reddit user whose girlfriend objected to being left out of his annual father-daughter trip is completely right to exclude her, said other Reddit users and experts who spoke to Fox News Digital.

“AITA for not booking tickets for my [girlfriend] to come on holiday with me and my daughter?” asked Reddit user “Acrobatic-Agent-6532” in a Monday, April 29, post on Reddit’s “Am I the A–hole” (AITA) subreddit.

In the post, the man revealed that his girlfriend was extremely upset with him for planning his annual vacation with his 16-year-old daughter — something he’s done every year since she was born.

“We’ve carried on the tradition since her mother died as a way to remember her (we go to the same place during the same two weeks),” he wrote.

Last year, Acrobatic-Agent-6532 said his girlfriend was “completely fine” about the trip.

“She said she had no issue with it just being me and my daughter and it would be fine again in the future.”

This year, however, things were different.

After he told the girlfriend he’d booked the trip, “she completely freaked out, saying that I was entitled and selfish for not taking her as well.”

The man detailed, “I’ve tried to explain to her that this is a very personal event for me and my daughter ,  but she doesn’t seem to listen and keeps on telling me to book her tickets as well.”

He continued, “I’ve talked to my daughter about it, and she’s said she would rather it be just us two.”

Acrobatic-Agent-6532 said he regularly goes on vacations with the two of them — and that he does not use all of his time off on his daughter.

“Was I wrong for not booking tickets for my [girlfriend]?” he asked.

“Should I book her tickets as well?”

Father and two little girls roasting marshmallows at bonfire in a fall forest

In an email to Fox News Digital, the Reddit poster said he would not be booking his girlfriend a ticket for the trip.

A psychiatrist and social worker told Fox News Digital that it is completely reasonable for Acrobatic-Agent-6532 to want to continue an important tradition with his daughter — and that the trouble he’s going through right now could be a sign of a deeper issue with his relationship.

“The dad has clearly stated the purpose of this trip with his daughter to his current girlfriend, which seems more than appropriate not to include her. Honoring the role of her mother, who has passed away, is very personal and healing for them both,” Lisa Pion-Berlin, ACSW, of California, told Fox News Digital.

Pion-Berlin is CEO of Parents Anonymous, a self-help organization that aims to prevent child abuse .

These trips do not lessen or diminish the relationship between Acrobatic-Agent-6532 and his girlfriend, said Pion-Berlin.

A family roasting marshmallows by a fire pit in the forest near their country house

The girlfriend’s “negative reaction this year versus previously should be explored so that the air can be cleared, and everyone can understand each other’s feelings.”

“As a parent, [Acrobatic-Agent-6532] has defined what he needs to support his daughter and that priority is separate from their personal relationship and will not interfere with her developing a relationship with the daughter if this is important to each of them,” she also said.

Dr. Carole Lieberman, a California-based psychiatrist, told Fox News Digital that Acrobatic-Agent-6532 would be wrong to stop his annual tradition — and that his relationship with his girlfriend might be over .

“You may not realize it now, but this father-daughter time is so important to her mental health and is what will keep your daughter away from ‘bad boys’ in the future,” said Lieberman, the author of “Bad Girls: Why Men Love Them & How Good Girls Can Learn Their Secrets”

By taking his daughter on these trips, the father is “modeling what a loving relationship should be by keeping her mother ‘alive’ during these times.”

And while Acrobatic-Agent-6532 is upset by his girlfriend’s insistence on joining the trip, Lieberman said that this should be viewed positively.

“It has opened your eyes to the true character of your girlfriend,” said Lieberman.

Reddit users largely agreed that it was completely fine for Acrobatic-Agent-6532 to have his annual trip with his daughter.

On the AITA subreddit, people can reply to posts and indicate the poster is “NTA” (“Not the A–hole”), “YTA” (“You’re the A–hole”), “NAH” (“No A–holes Here”) or “ESH” (“Everyone Sucks Here”).

Users can “upvote” responses they think are helpful and “downvote” ones that are not.

“Your [girlfriend] is off her rocker,” said Reddit user “keephopealive4you” in the top-upvoted comment, addressing the comments directly to the father.

“She is the only entitled and selfish person here! She has already gotten vacations from you. This is a special time for you and your daughter … Your [girlfriend] needs to back off.”

Said a user named “Friendlily,” “You are her only parent left and I’m sure she needs this as much as or more than you.”

The person added that these trips will likely change in the future as the daughter grows up and moves out of the house.

“You also need to take this as the red flag it is with your [girlfriend] and have some serious conversations with her,” said the same commenter.

A lack of demand for new electric cars has led some brands to begin slashing prices.

Even some of the UK's best-selling electric cars are thousands of pounds cheaper than a year ago, according to Auto Trader figures shared with The Times .

Among the most heavily discounted vehicles are the Honda E, down 20% versus a year ago at £29,600, and the Peugeot E-2008, which has fallen in price by 15% to £30,000.

The Vauxhall Corsa-e and Mokka-e are both being advertised at a 20% off sale price, while the MG ZS and MG5 are discounted by 15%.

Meanwhile, Ford's flagship electric car, the Mustang Mach-E, has fallen in price by 14%.

Ian Plummer, Auto Trader's commercial director, said lower prices are good news for car buyers and that it was "encouraging" to see more affordable electric cars on the market.

He said the discounts had been "driven by a softening in consumer demand, coupled with the introduction of the zero-emissions vehicle mandate, which is putting pressure on manufacturers to comply with the new regulations or face heavy fines".

The government's zero-emission vehicle ( ZEV ) mandate requirers manufacturers to produce a certain percentage of zero-emission cars and vans each year.

It started when comedian Peter Kay, who was supposed to be the first official act for the new Manchester Co-op Live on 23 April, had his performances rescheduled.

Rick Astley's performance on 20 April was a "test event" for the venue but ticket capacity was slashed just hours before his gig was due to begin.

Astley fans who had their tickets cancelled were instead offered seats to see US rock band The Black Keys play - but their show has also been affected.

And to add to the chaos, this week Olivia Rodrigo's concerts, scheduled for 3 and 4 May, were postponed.

Then, Take That announced they were moving their shows from the venue to the AO Arena in Manchester.

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie concert was also postponed just over an hour before the rapper was set to perform.

Today, Barry Manilow also said he had a "back-up plan" to move his Manchester performance from the beleaguered venue.

The ongoing mayhem has left disgruntled concert-goers voicing their frustration, with some calling for travel and accommodation to be reimbursed and others calling the situation "embarrassing".

"There will be countless people who would've booked travel and hotels just for you to stitch them up because you couldn't meet assured deadlines," one person wrote on X.

Another person said the music venue should "at the very minimum" be "looking at refunding travel/hotel costs for people that can prove they paid for cancelled dates".

And another person asked: "How do I get a refund for parking? There's no info on your site or app."

Organisers at Co-op Live said the venue would be taking "a short pause to events" before welcoming members of the public to the arena from 14 May.

A Co-op Live statement said: "At this time, we do not expect further impact on our opening season. We are aware our actions have frustrated and angered ticketholders."

Tim Leiweke, chairman and chief executive of Oak View Group, which developed Co-op Live in partnership with the City Football Group, has said they cannot run any event until it is "absolutely safe to do so".

A Co-op Group spokesperson said: "As naming rights sponsor for Co-op Live we are disappointed with these further schedule changes.

"Co-op is a sponsor and does not own or run the venue, and we have made it clear to Oak View Group, who are responsible for the building, that the impact on ticketholders must be addressed as a priority."

A 200-year-old Edinburgh attraction is reopening this month after being closed for four years.

The Nelson Monument is a 150ft tower overlooking the city, and was built to commemorate Admiral Horatio Nelson's victory at the Battle of Trafalgar.

It has been shut for essential works for years, but visitors will soon be able to climb its 143 steps again.

An official opening date has not yet been given.

HMRC's Welsh-language app is only being used by two in every 100 native speakers, according to a new report by The Telegraph .

A freedom of information request by the paper found that 13,831 Welsh speakers have used the app since its launch in June 2022.

That equates to 1.5% of the nearly 900,000 people who say they speak the language.

Jonathan Eida, researcher at the TaxPayers' Alliance pressure group, told the newspaper he thought the move was a "gimmick".

Gig ticket prices may be eye-wateringly high at the moment (just like everything else, let's face it) but a big sale next week will see tens of thousands of tickets at discounted prices.

LiveNation is holding a sale for 24 hours from noon on Thursday until noon on Friday, with prices starting from £25.

Artists who you can get discounted tickets to see include Doja Cat, Meghan Thee Stallion, Shania Twain, Becky Hill, Avril Lavigne, Eric Prydz, Giggs, Glass Animals, James Arthur, JLS, Jungle, Kaiser Chiefs, Limp Bizkit, Offset, McFly, Olly Murs, Paloma Faith, Placebo, Tom Jones, Tiesto and The Streets.

You can find the full line-up of artists and venues with discounted tickets  on the LiveNation website here .

The company will also be holding promotions and competitions throughout next week.

Financial markets are strange beasts.

You would think that fewer new jobs being created in the United States would be a cause for concern.

Hardly. It is being positively celebrated.

Closely watched figures out at 1.30pm showed an easing in both jobs and wage growth by more than expected last month.

It has led to greater bets on the US Federal Reserve, the central bank, introducing its first interest rate cut in September.

A hot economy and stubborn inflation have dragged on market sentiment in recent weeks.

Investors desperately want to see cheaper borrowing costs.

In reaction, US stock market futures showed the S&P 500 would open more than 1% higher.

The FTSE 100 was also on track for another record close. It was trading 0.8% higher at 8,234.

That was despite a big weakening in the dollar.

The pound gained three-quarters of a cent to $1.26 versus the US currency after the jobs data dropped.

Tech giant Apple has recorded the biggest drop in iPhone sales since the early months of the COVID pandemic.

Sales for January to March were down 10% on the same period last year - something not seen since the 2020 iPhone model was delayed due to lockdown factory closures.

Overall, Apple earned $90.8bn (£72.4bn) in the latest quarter - down 4% from a year ago. It was the fifth consecutive three-month period that the company's revenue dipped from the previous year.

Apple's profit in the past quarter was $23.64bn (£18.85bn) - a 2% dip from a year ago.

It was good news, however, for the overall value of the company as its share price rose nearly 7% after investors had expected a bigger drop in sales.

The chair of HSBC has predicted the Bank of England will cut interest rates in June.

Speaking at HSBC's annual general meeting today, Mark Tucker said he expected the European Central Bank and Bank of England to cut rates next month, both lowering by 150 basis points by the end of 2025.

He also said he expected the US Federal Reserve to cut rates in September.

However, yesterday, one of the world's leading economic authorities, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, said interest rates, which are at a post-2008 era high of 5.25%, should stay there.

"The fiscal and monetary policy mix is adequately restrictive and should remain so until inflation returns durably to target," the OECD's economic outlook for 2024 said.

Mango plans to open 20 new stores this year as it continues to strengthen its UK presence.

The Spanish fashion retailer, which arrived in the UK in 1999, will be opening stores in several cities in Northern Ireland and central and southern England, as well as Scotland.

There are also plans to open four stores in London.

Daniel Lopez, Mango director of expansion and franchising, told Retail Gazette the expansion "will consolidate the Mango brand" and help "strengthen it internationally".

The retailer recently unveiled a spring/summer collection in collaboration with Victoria Beckham.

Lidl has rushed to remove old references to so-called fake farm branding on its website after being questioned by MPs.

The retail chain told MPs yesterday that a picture of its "Strathvale farm chicken" was a "mistake" after telling them they did not use so-called fake farms.

Appearing in front of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee on fairness in the food supply chain, Lidl GB's chief commercial officer Richard Bourns was questioned on the fairness of supermarkets using fake farms to market their food.

Mr Bourns, who was questioned by committee member Rosie Duffield on using "Strathvale farm" branding for meat products, replied: "We don't use Strathvale farms, we use Strathvale.

"We do not use farm brands, just to be absolutely clear."

Committee chairman Robert Goodwill, who had access to the internet, said: "Oh wait a minute, we have here a Strathvale farm Scottish large chicken, for £3.85. Gosh that's cheap.

"So there is on the website at least, a reference to Strathvale farm."

Mr Bourns replied: "If there is a reference to Strathvale farms on our website I'd want to take that away and correct it.

"It could be the case that our website is not up to date.

"We do not have an online offering but I can categorically tell you we do not have farms brands in our business, just to be absolutely clear."

After the committee hearing a Lidl spokesperson said: "Any historic web pages featuring old packaging that appear via a search engine are in the process of being removed to ensure complete accuracy."
