This release captures Journey's concert at the SM Mall of Asia in Manila, Philippines on March 14th 2009. It marked the return to his hometown of the bands then newly arrived singer and frontman Arnel Pineda. Journey delivered an inspired performance in front of an adoring crowd as they played a set of greatest hits interspersed with tracks from their 2008 album Revelation .

A utterly compelling live performance from Journey

Scouring Youtube late one night Jonathan Cain and Neal Schon found Arnel Pineda, lead singer of the Filipino cover band ‘The Zoo’, they flew him over, auditioned him for a week, and then offered him the job.

This dvd ‘Live In Manila’ is very much a homecoming for Arnel, and captures Journey in concert in front of 30,000 people.

The concert runs in total for about two and a half hours, and give the fans exactly what they want, a “greatest hits” package with a couple of new tracks from the then recently released ‘Revelation’ album, “Change For The Better” and “Turn Down The World Tonight”

For those fans who thought Steve Perry could never be replaced, just have a listen to “Faithfully”, this is one outstanding performance, and proof if needed, that after a few false starts (Steve Augeri and Jeff Soto)  Journey had finally found their man.

Journey as a whole however have strength in numbers, as Drummer Deen Castronovo proves when he takes lead vocals on “Keep on Runnin'”, “Mother Father” and “Still They Ride”. Neil Schon though is undeniably the driving force behind Journey as he trades riff with Keyboardist Jonathan Cain before launching into blistering solos, especially on the brooding menacing ‘Edge Of The Blade’.

The DVD was filmed in 4K and the sound quality is equally as impressive, the camera picking out each musician and allows them to shine without to many fast edits.

Off course no Journey concert would be complete without what is now probably one of the most famous songs in the world, both helped by, and totally ruined by that god awful tv programme Glee, “Don’t Stop Believin’. Arnel does a sterling job on this and follows it up on ‘Anyway You Want It’.

A triple encore brings the night to a close on what must have been a very emotional night for Arnel.

Originally released on DVD in 2009, Journey ‘Live In Manila’ is now being reissued on DVD, Blu-ray and as a DVD+2CD set. This is the first time the Blu-ray has been released outside of North America and the first time the audio has been available anywhere in the world [Cat Nos EREDV1247, ERBRD5298 and EAGDV066 respectively]. ‘Live In Manila’ is released on 9 September 2016. This is a must-have for any Journey fan.

Paolo Contis, with a blend of Italian and Filipino heritage, stepped into the spotlight as part of 'Star Circle Batch 3' in 1993. Renowned as a child actor in the mid-90s, he was a familiar face on shows like 'Ang TV'.

In 2002, Paolo made a switch to GMA Network, embracing more mature roles as he transitioned from a child actor to a teen idol. At GMA, he showcased his versatility in various shows, frequently appearing in supporting, comedic, and villainous roles.

His acting prowess was recognized in 2008 when he secured the Best Actor award for his role in 'Banal', directed by GMA reporter Cesar Apolinario, who also won Best Director at the Metro Manila Film Festival that year. Patrick Garcia

Patrick Garcia, born Franz Patrick Velasco Garcia on September 14, 1981, is a celebrated Filipino actor. Encouraged by his sister Cheska, a renowned actress, he ventured into acting at 13.

His debut in the 1994 hit movie 'Separada' instantly made him a heartthrob and a favorite among critics in the Philippines.

Following his successful debut, Garcia quickly secured roles in films and soap operas like 'Gimik', 'Araw-araw, gabi-gabi', and 'Asero'.

His outstanding performance as Ryan in 'Madrasta', a film by Olivia M. Lamasan, earned him the Best Child Actor award at the 1996 FAMAS Awards. The next year, his role in 'Batang PX' brought him multiple accolades.

Starting as a part of 'Ang TV', Garcia was later introduced as a member of 'Star Circle Batch 2' by ABS-CBN.

Kaye Abad, born Katherine Grace Cosme Abad-Castillo on May 17, 1982, is a prominent Filipino-American actress. Her journey in the entertainment world began in 1993 with ABS-CBN's Star Magic, and she was officially introduced as part of 'Star Magic Batch 3' in 1996.

Abad's early career was marked by her role in the youth show 'Ang TV.' She gained popularity starring in teen-oriented films and TV series, often alongside John Lloyd Cruz. Their pairing is fondly remembered in the series 'Tabing Ilog,' which aired from 1999 to 2003.

In 2006, Abad took on the role of Cynthia in 'Super Inggo,' a prequel fantasy, and continued with its sequel 'Super Inggo 1.5: Ang Bagong Bangis' in 2007.

Her television comeback in 2009 was through 'Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Bud Brothers Series,' stepping in for Roxanne Guinoo to star opposite Guji Lorenzana.
