Central Kids Store in Moscow  attracts a lot of people every day because of its ice cream. I’m not kidding! Ice creams  with many flavours, such as chocolate, strawberry, blueberry, vanilla, caramel must be found and immediately eaten! The quality is very high because the visitors are mainly children, and you know that they are just the fond of this dessert! After eating the ice cream, go straight to the 6th floor and find the  Observation Deck  sign. The price is 50 roubles (less than $1) and the view is breath-taking! From the Observation Deck, you can see the Kremlin, St. Basil's Cathedral, Moscow State University and many narrow streets, winding and cozy. It’s a very romantic and nice place to visit in the evening. The sun reflects on the roofs of the buildings and creates many different colors on them: golden shades of the sunset are mixed with pink and blue.

Central Kids Store  at Lubyanka metro station is a perfect place for those who think that walking along the streets is not enough. Let’s get it out there: Losing stinks.

We saw how hard it can hit you on the sad faces of Caitlin Clark and her Iowa teammates in the final moments of their loss to South Carolina in Sunday’s NCAA women’s basketball final . We watched it in the slow, expressionless manner in which Purdue’s Zach Edey walked off the court after falling to UConn in the men’s title game the next night.

We even heard it in the usually cool and steady Lisa Bluder. The Iowa coach’s voice cracked when she talked about losing and she used humor to fend off the feeling.

Was there consolation, she was asked, that she dropped the last two finals to coaches (Kim Mulkey and Dawn Staley) who had combined to win seven national titles?

“Kind of makes me a double loser right now,” Bluder said, drawing laughs from media members.

Professional and collegiate athletes and coaches hate to lose. You and your kids probably do, too. It’s natural to be upset when you fall short, especially when a group of teammates have drawn close.

But high level coaches like Bluder know coming to grips with losses – owning up to them, even embracing them – can make players better.

How we handle losing can shape our sports experience, and certainly our reputations. We can learn to lose with grace, whether we are a 12-year-old soccer player or college basketball’s all-time leading scorer .

“I’ll be able to sleep at night even though I never won a national championship,” said Clark , whose supernova of a college career ended with the 87-75 loss to South Carolina.

“Everything I’ve done, there’s so much to be proud of," she said. "I don’t sit and sulk about the things that never happened.”

Basketball players and coaches showed us this week how cathartic losses can be if we allow ourselves to fully process them. They can help us assess what we have achieved and push as forward into our next challenge, whether that be another youth game or the WNBA .

Using the examples of Clark and others at Iowa and Purdue, here’s how younger athletes can be “good” losers, too.

1. Don't make excuses. The first step in overcoming a loss is acknowledging it.

Yes, it smarts to congratulate a team that just beat you. Sometimes, as the Purdue men and Iowa women had to do, you first have to stand and watch players celebrate.

As you wait, allow the loss to sink it. Let the anger you feel run through you before you face up with your opponents. Think about why you might have fallen short, and what you can try and do differently the next time. Then walk through the line and congratulate the other team.

You may not feel better immediately, but taking these steps will begin the healing process and motivate you for next time.

“(Donovan) Clingan’s a great player but I just gotta play better,” Edey said of his UConn counterpart, the center’s eyes still burning when he spoke minutes after his team’s 75-60 loss. “It’s one of those games where I can’t go through stretches where I’m not effective. I had a few of those stretches today and that was the game.”

Edey was being hard on himself. He set game highs with 37 points and 10 rebounds. The lesson here is he wasn’t making excuses.

Excuses can come from the player, but also parents who seek to validate or comfort their kids.

It wasn’t your fault.

Your teammates didn’t help out enough.

Your coach put you in an unfair situation.

Coaches, whether they're in high school or winning NCAA championships, tend to hate excuses. During an interview with CBS in the leadup to the men’s finale, UConn's Dan Hurley offered a warning of what can eventually happen if you continue to make them.

“We spend a lot of time really focusing on the parents,” Hurley said. “Are they gonna be fans of their son or are they gonna be parents? Are they going to hold them accountable, have an expectation that, when something goes wrong, that it’s not the coach’s fault. That their son’s gotta work harder, he’s gotta do more, he’s gotta earn his role?

“When you talk to the parents in the recruiting process, are they constantly complaining about the coaches after a bad game or are they sending you a text or are you having a conversation where their son has gotta do more, he’s gotta player harder, he’s gotta work on his skills. They tell on themselves. They drop hints, and (if) you’ve got the wrong type of people in that inner circle around your players, they’ll sink your program.”

2. Don't allow yourself to be defined by a loss. Be defined by how you respond to it.

There is a difference between being upset about a loss and being a sore loser.

In the second scenario, you fling your baseball glove, hurl a basketball, storm off to the parking lot without shaking your opponents’ hands or single out a teammate for a mistake that might have cost you the game.

In the first, you accept what happened and use the experience to fuel you.

Purdue, a top seed in the NCAA Tournament in 2023 and 2024, suffered a devastating loss to No. 16 Fairleigh Dickinson last season. Edey took the loss particularly hard as the national player of the year and the face of the team. But he swallowed that loss and used it to drive him all the way to final this season.

Iowa’s women reached the final least year and lost to LSU, then made a repeat appearance in the championship after losing two players who were three-year starters.

Both teams came together after losses, using the experiences to motivate and inspire them.

“We truly have each other's back,” Clark said. “Maybe we weren't always the most skilled. Maybe we weren't always the tallest. Maybe we weren't always the fastest. But we just believed what we knew we could be in these moments. We trusted one another.”

Some wins can be empty. Maybe you won a game when you didn’t play well or when an opponent made a mistake.

Some losses can be more meaningful. The next time you lose, ask yourself if you were satisfied with your effort. If the answer is no, you have something to work on for next game.

If the answer is yes, there is satisfaction in knowing you did everything you could to try and win.

Clark smiled when discussing South Carolina’s size and rebounding edge (51-29). It wasn’t a smile of defeat as much as one of satisfaction because, like Purdue, her team didn’t give into the disadvantage.

“I'm just proud of our group,” she said. "We never backed down and, you know, we gave it everything we had.”

As difficult as it is, you can accept that you lost to a better team.

“We’ve played against athletes and played against some really good defensive guys this year, and in the tournament, but not the collection of defensive players like UConn has,” Purdue coach Matt Painter said. "We’d play against somebody and they’d have a lockdown defender. These guys are bringing lockdown defenders off the bench. … Tip the hat to them.”

He shook his head, then turned to discussing Edey.

“I just told him in the locker room, ‘You’re not gonna go on in life and push past here and not deal with adversity,’ ” Painter said. “In the workforce, in relationships, everything; you’re going to deal with adversity. And he was superior dealing with adversity .”

3. Find a way to respect, or remember, your opponent

Like Edey, Braden Smith, Purdue’s point guard, gave UConn it’s due, but he was still coming to grips with what his team couldn’t accomplish when he met the media.

Some of the most competitive athletes never come to grips with losses. But when they look back at their athletic careers, they remember moments more than wins or losses. Moments like your first home run or 3-pointer or, more simply, the time you and a kid standing on first base struck up a conversation. Maybe that kid became a close friend.

Or moments like what happened in the handshake line after UConn won and, as Gregg Doyel noted in the Indianapolis Star , Hurley latched onto Smith to compliment him.

When NC State’s 6-foot-8 DJ Burns locked up with the 7-4 Edey during the national semifinals, they exchanged smiles and playful words.

“Bro, excuse my language, you big as hell,” Burns later said he told Edey . “I'm like, 'Yo, I’m going to figure you out bro.' We had a little joke moment."

Edey later complimented Burns on his play in the game.

The next time you lose, try to find a moment from the game that gives you a positive memory. You don’t have to share this moment with anyone. You can keep it to yourself and pull it out when you still feel sad about the result.

It’s the overall experience from sports that we’re after, especially when we’re young, and we can’t always get that through wins and losses.

4. Plastic trophies are nice. Team experiences last forever.

The next time you lose, take stock of your sports journey, wherever you are on it.

Kate Martin, Iowa’s six-year guard did so when she got a question from 9-year-old Lily Goodwin , who was representing Cleveland radio station 95.9 FM, following the South Carolina game.

“What would you say to kids striving to be you right now?” asked Goodwin, who goes by DJ Lily Jade .

“I used to sleep with an Iowa women’s basketball poster on my ceiling,” Martin said, her eyes brightening. “To be in this position and to play for Coach Bluder and make it to back-to-back national championships, I just feel super grateful. It’s because I worked really hard and I dreamed big. I’m not some all-American, five-star recruit out of high school. I never was. People believed in me, I believed in myself and here I am. If I can do it, so can you.”

We don’t have to go through a journey like Martin and Iowa did to love sports. Bluder’s emotional postgame speech in the locker room, shared via social media, was meant to capture that journey, but it can also remind us why we play the games.

“I’m proud of all of you guys so much, each and every one of you, so do not hang your heads,” Bluder said, her voice shaking. “Celebrate the fact that we were here. Celebrate that we got to do this together. Please? Because that’s what’s important.

“Yes you love a shiny trophy but the impact that you had on young women in this sport doesn’t get tarnished.”

The tears from Bluder and those listening to her were much more about the end of their time together as teammates than the loss.

“I need to soak this in and enjoy these last few moments with my teammates, because these are some of my best friends,” Clark said when she reached the podium. “They'll be my best friends for the rest of my life. And that's what matters to me the most.”

Our sports careers, like our lives, are bound to be filled with ups and downs. You can’t expect to win every game, even if you’re Caitlin Clark.

I'm a millennial who avoided cruises because I thought they were full of germs and kids. My first experience proved me wrong.

• She loved the ship experience with sizeable rooms and fun activities, but the pace of travel was too quick. 

This is an as-told-to essay based on a transcribed conversation with millennial Eliza Green, who took her first cruise vacation on Virgin Voyages. The conversation has been edited for length and clarity.

I always thought cruise ships were a place to pick up germs from people, especially children. I'd heard nightmare stories of people getting sick, overcrowding, and bad food. But when friends approached my husband and me to go for a 40th birthday, I was willing to try.

My frequent cruise traveler friend gave us a couple of options. Virgin Voyages sounded particularly appealing. The rooms were affordable, with balconies and no children. Plus, the five-night length felt manageable as a first-time cruiser.

In October 2023, my husband, two other couples, and I embarked on Virgin Voyage's Scarlet Lady Dominican Daze. We set off from the port in Miami for two stops in Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic and Bimini, Bahamas. For lodging and food for two, it cost $3,234.

Still skeptical, I went in with little expectations and just the hope of having a good time with friends.

Cruise food was better than an all-inclusive resort

The food was a pleasant surprise, far better than the buffet options I'd imagined on other cruises. This was our first cruise, but it was our second all-inclusive-style vacation. Compared to the all-inclusive resort in Jamaica, the cruise had a wider variety of cuisines.

For a ship that had to serve thousands, the level of food and choices exceeded my expectations. I never ate the same meal twice. The ease of dining was seamless. Food was included in our prepaid rate, so we didn't have to take out our wallets during mealtime or show our cruise wristband.

There were sit-down restaurants, grab-and-go stations, and dining hall-style venues. We made reservations before our trip since we had a large group and the tables booked up quickly. However, you could walk into restaurants or book upon embarking on the ship through the app.

There were premium items for an extra cost, such as lobster or wagyu, but they were unneeded because there was already so much food provided. Although alcohol was an extra cost, the prepaid option gave us extra dollars toward drinks, which was a good value.

The cabin was a needed respite

Before traveling on a cruise, I'd heard of windowless cabins and cramped rooms. Throughout the journey, I enjoyed spending time in my room, which I hadn't expected.

I was also concerned about seasickness in a confined space on the water. I came prepared with motion sickness remedies, but it never hit me.

The room was sizable and nicer than many hotel rooms I have stayed in on land. The cabin felt huge compared to the hotel I'd stayed at in Miami before embarking on the ship.

We had a bed, seating, and ample closet space, as well as a decent bathroom. I never felt cramped or like I was stumbling around my husband.

As somewhat of an introvert, the room was a nice respite. When I wanted time to recharge, the hammock on the balcony was a great place to read and gave me an escape, making the trip more relaxing.

The entertainment wasn't cheesy like I expected

I hadn't planned to partake in much of the entertainment because I assumed it would be cheesy.

The quality of the shows and activities defied my expectations. We enjoyed a puzzle contest one night, and another night, when we stumbled upon an entertainment show; the performance was impressive and well-produced with polished performers.

Virgin did a nice job of giving every traveler their own experience despite being on the same ship.

The boat's layout made it so we didn't hear noise from the louder late-night parties, and they didn't detract from our vacation. I liked being able to spend time with our friends on the cruise and also seek out our own experiences.

High-tech amenities meant the service was great

All the offerings were shared in an app, which we could easily access onboard from our phones. The well-thought-out amenities, such as using a wristband for drinks and not having to show a room card for dinner, made it so we didn't have to think about anything. We truly felt like we were on vacation.

The bartending staff was friendly, and the service was impressive. Plus, the layout of the boat was easy to navigate. We took advantage of the laundry service for a small fee, as it was reasonable and made our trip more convenient.

In addition, the boat offered other amenities, such as a gym, gaming areas, spa, and shopping boutiques. They even had a tattoo parlor onboard and a medical-grade spa offering botox. Even though we didn't end up using these additional services, it was still nice to know they were available.

We could have spent longer at the destinations

Ironically, the destinations were the most disappointing part of our experience. The cruise made a stop in Puerto Plata and Bimini. Since they were around six hours each, including disembarking and embarking, we didn't get to experience as much of the culture as we would have liked.

That said, we enjoyed a pre-booked waterfall excursion in the Dominican Republic, which we paid for separately. Bimini felt like an extension of the cruise because we stopped at a Virgin-owned beach club for the day. It was fun, but we wish we could have seen more of the island culture.

Even despite that, we felt the cruise was a good value. The quality of the food and the room alone made it worth the investment. Plus, the boat was a great way to travel with friends. In the future, we would cruise again, especially if we could have more time at each stop to improve the experience.

It’s a big weekend for viewers with preschool-aged children. “Bluey,” the beloved Australian animated series about a Blue Heeler puppy, her Dad, Mum and little sister, Bingo, will get its first-ever special, titled “The Sign.” The 28-minute episode will begin streaming Sunday on Disney+; it is also slated to air on Disney Junior and Disney Channel. If your child is anything like mine, you’ll probably be up early to watch (they never sleep in on weekends, do they?). As for what to expect, the official teaser trailer offers some hints: There appears to be a wedding in the works, and we see Bingo, Bluey and their friends, Muffin and Socks, wearing flower crowns. Several actors will also make their voice debut on the series, including Joel Edgerton .

As you wait for Sunday, if you’re looking for a fresh series for the kids, Dora the Explorer is back in “Dora,” a new CG-animated series now streaming on Paramount+. “Dora” features the characters you remember, and the Spanish lessons and games that made it so fun and memorable for kids. The new season drops with 26 11-minute episodes, but if you’re not a Paramount+ subscriber, a few preview episodes are available on YouTube. Everything you need to know about the film or TV series everyone’s talking about

If it’s true that a picture is worth a thousand words, then it’s also true — at least sometimes — that a scripted TV show can effect more change than dozens of scrupulous journalistic investigations. Such is the case with “Mr. Bates vs. the Post Office,” a four-part series about one of the most egregious miscarriages of justice in modern British history.

Written by Gwyneth Hughes, the series, which premiered on PBS’s “Masterpiece” on Sunday and is streaming on PBS Passport, dramatizes the scandal in which hundreds of subpostmasters — people who operated Post Office locations — were wrongly accused of wrongdoing when a bug-ridden computer accounting system called Horizon made it seem as if money were disappearing from their branches.

Between 1999 and 2015, more than 900 were convicted of theft, fraud and false accounting; many others faced financial ruin when they were forced to make up the shortfalls, or lost their livelihoods when their contracts were terminated. Numerous subpostmasters served time in jail, including one pregnant woman. The scandal also caused widespread emotional distress, with at least four people dying by suicide. And for years, journalists, politicians and advocates called for accountability from the Post Office, a High Court judge ordered it in 2019 to pay 58 million pounds to a group of more than 500 subpostmasters. But the scandal was not front-page news, nor did most of the public comprehend the scope of the issue.

Then came “Mr. Bates vs. the Post Office,” in which Toby Jones stars as Alan Bates, a former subpostmaster who has spent more than two decades fighting for justice for his wronged colleagues. The series opens in 2003 when Bates, refusing to accept liability for the shortfalls at his branch in scenic Llandudno, North Wales, has his contract terminated. He believes, rightly, that there’s something wrong with the Horizon system, but is told that he’s the only person experiencing these issues.

This, of course, turns out to be a lie: over the years, he forms an alliance with other subpostmasters seeking justice, including Lee Castleton (Will Mellor) and Jo Hamilton (Monica Dolan). They range in age, hail from different corners of the country and speak in a delightful array of accents, but all have been horribly wronged. After a long and exceedingly complicated journey through the dark heart of the British legal system, the alliance eventually wins a financial settlement — but it is, at best, a partial victory, one that fails to adequately compensate the hundreds of everyday Britons ensnared in a bureaucratic nightmare.

The series takes what could be a dry story about accounting errors and weaves it into a riveting, deeply human narrative. Most of us know little about the intricacies of British law, but nearly all of us can understand the exquisite torture of calling a useless customer service hotline or dealing with glitchy software. Which may be why “Mr. Bates vs. The Post Office” became an instant hit when it premiered on ITV in January, garnering more than 10 million viewers — enough to make it the channel’s biggest new drama since “Downton Abbey” in 2010. Its popularity helped propel the Post Office scandal to the front pages in a country weary of political dysfunction and forced the government to take bipartisan action. Days after the finale aired in January, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called for new legislation to swiftly exonerate and compensate people wrongfully convicted in the scandal. More than 1 million people signed a petition calling for Paula Vennells, former Post Office chief executive, to be stripped of her CBE honor; in February, King Charles II formally revoked the honor .

And for the subpostmasters, who now have the support of the public behind them, the fight continues. This week, the real Alan Bates gave testimony at a government inquiry into the Horizon debacle, where he called the Post Office “ an atrocious organization ” run by “ thugs in suits .” “The whole of the postal service nowadays — it’s a dead duck. It’s beyond saving,” he said. It’s difficult to imagine a show having such an impact in the United States, where few events outside a solar eclipse can unite people across the cultural divide. But we can, at least, understand the outrage. — Meredith Blake

What have you watched recently that you are recommending to everyone you know?

Recently I watched a show called “Blue Eye Samurai” [ Netflix ]. Wow! What a visually stunning anime with beautiful storytelling.

What is your go-to “comfort watch,” movie or TV show you go back to again and again?

It would have to be a documentary or a cooking show. I love murder documentaries because of the psychology of it. Then on the other end of the spectrum, I love “The Great British Bake-Off” [Netflix]!

Especially after recent events, Gabriela finds herself in what TV fans will recognize as a classic love triangle with Diego and Bode. Why do you think the trope is so powerful, and what’s your favorite example as a fan?

People love the trope! I grew up in a household where telenovelas were watched, which is trope-central, so I get it. “[Yo soy] Betty, la fea,” which was originally a Colombian telenovela, used to be on in my home all the time. There aren’t many projects that require an actor to wear something like a firefighting suit. How did it feel putting it on for the first time? What’s it like to act in it, especially on long shooting days?

The first time I put the suit on I didn’t realize how heavy it would be. I definitely started weight training to build up my strength to be able to hold all of our gear. I love it, though; I’m working and working out at the same time. I have so much respect for firefighters!
