Top 30 Best Stands From JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (Ranked)

JoJo Tusk - ACT 3 Stand preview

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure has hundreds of Stands by this point – spiritual manifestations of a fighter’s spirit, each possessing unique stats and powers.

It’s one of my favorite battle mechanics in anime, due to its versatility and preference towards imagination and absurdism.

So to put it lightly, this list was difficult. I’ve tried to find a balance between design and power to figure out my favorites throughout the whole franchise.

I mean, sometimes a cool-looking Stand just doesn’t have an impressive ability, and vice versa.

And one of the most fun parts of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is uncovering the mechanics of a stand… so a fair warning: full Stand spoilers for all parts follow from here on!

30. Stone Free

Stone Free Stand in JoJo

Stone Free is a cool looking Stand of humanoid stature wearing some equally cool sunglasses.

It’s fast and strong, capable of packing a punch on its own. It can unwind itself (and Jolyne) into string, sharp enough to cut off a head.

Thanks to Stone Free, Jolyne can use her body to weave a net, stitch wounds, slither through thin crevices, swing around (a ’la Spider Man), and transform into an infinite Mobius strip capable of deflecting other Stand abilities.

 Stand in JoJo

Kiss is a short-range Stand with versatile capabilities.

Its design is regal, gold and crowned and covered in stickers.

Ermes can use Kiss to create one such sticker. When stuck to something, it creates a replica.

If the sticker is removed, the two objects merge and cause devastating amounts of trauma and damage. Neat!

28. Doobie Wah!

Doobie Wah Stand in JoJo

Doobie Wah! is a unique Stand with an overwhelming ability.

It resembles a small tornado, rapidly spinning around a tiny humanoid figure shaped like a genie. No matter the distance, when this locks onto a target the Stand will manifest through their breath .

When the victim exhales, a tornado forms that grows with every exhalation. Escaping the wrath of Doobie Wah! is near impossible.

27. Sugar Mountain

Sugar Mountain Stand in JoJo

Sugar Mountain is a Bound Stand fused to a gargantuan tree. At the base of its trunk are its human victims. It operates in three waves.

The Trial of Avidity activates when an object is dropped in the water sources nearby.

A Guardian then appears with that object, and two other rarer items, and asks you which was yours.

If you lie: your tongue and innards are removed.

If you tell the truth, you’re given the item you dropped in and one of the other objects.

However, then the Trial of Avarice kicks in.

You must ‘use/consume’ those objects before sunset. If you don’t, the third ability Guardian occurs. You’re absorbed into the tree and must wait in line to become the next Guardian.

26. The Grateful Dead

The Grateful Dead Stand in JoJo anime

The Grateful Dead may not pack pure strength or speed. But it does flaunt a horrifying ability.

It can rapidly increase the mental and physical aging of organisms within its range proportional to temperature.

The hotter you are, the quicker you age – all the way until death if you cannot stop it in time.

It has no hands or mouth, and uses its massive arms to carry its eye-covered torso.

25. The World / Star Platinum

The World Stand in JoJo anime

Star Platinum and The World are very similar both in their humanoid designs and abilities.

They both boast incredible strength and speed statistics, making them combat intensive Stands.

As such, they’re among the most powerful in the series. Both Stands can stop time for up to 5-seconds, though it’s very likely that training and honing would increase that limit.

24. Crazy Diamond

Crazy Diamond Stand in JoJo anime

Bubblegum pink flesh covered in a pale blue Corinthian armor (and a design reminiscent of Star Platinum) makes Crazy Diamond one of the cuter buff humanoid Stands in the series.

This, alongside its ability, reflect Josuke quite well.

It possesses the power of restoration, capable of restoring objects to a previous state.

However, it can also recreate things ‘incorrectly’ letting him manipulate materials and fuse items together.

It also possesses great strength, speed, and precision stats. Unfortunately, Josuke cannot undo death or heal illnesses.

23. Made in Heaven

Made in Heaven Stand in JoJo

The third and final Stand owned by Enrico Pucci is one of the most powerful in the entire series.

It resembles a two-headed, two-legged centaur, retaining a humanoid appearance. And it looks almost majestic, chromatic, covered in clocks and speedometers.

Its ability permits Pucci the power to accelerate time at a rate nobody but him can keep up with.

However Pucci’s real goal is to accelerate to the ‘vanishing point’ wherein the universe will recreate itself with only Pucci unaffected. Truly devastating.

22. Metallica

Metallica Stand in JoJo anime

This Stand may look unassuming – small, metallic worms – but they possess devastating abilities in the right hands.

It can control and manipulate iron through magnetism – which itself is powerful, until you consider the iron found in blood.

Operative within 5-10 meters around Risotto, he can create razor blades and scissors in your bloodstream, de-oxidize you until you suffocate, and turn himself invisible.

21. Jail House Lock

Jail House Lock Stand in JoJo

Jail House Lock looks straight out of a horror game, with a fleshy humanoid body covered in red stitches giving off a Silent Hill vibe.

Its ability is equally terrifying, for it causes the target to only be able to store three pieces of information in their short-term storage.

As soon as a fourth thought occurs, the first vanishes.

This makes them a creatively tormenting Stand that can play with its victims’ memory before execution.

Mandom Stand in JoJo

This Stand’s personality is embodied by its user.

Ringo is a noble soul, who believes in telling his opponent the exact mechanics of his Stand before combat…

Those mechanics consist of a time reversal up to 6-seconds. The reversal is instantaneous, with all memories and events forgotten by every member of the conflict.

It’s a simple Stand that proves deadly in the hands of a sharpshooter with a strong resolve.

19. Gold Experience

Gold Experience Stand in JoJo

Gold Experience (and Gold Experience Requiem) is indisputably the strongest Stand in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.

We’ll get to why shortly, but first we have to go over its design and core abilities.

It possesses themes of creation, regeneration, peace, and warfare through the scarab beetle / ladybug / wings / helmet motifs.

It can transform inorganic objects and entities into natural formations, which deflect the blow of any attack back on the perpetrator. It can over-rejuvenate living beings, accelerating an enemy’s consciousness past the point of physical operation.

Plus it can accelerate organic growth rates and it can heal by constructing artificial organic matter out of random objects (like turning a stone into a replacement eye).

It can even detect life through the environment.

And then, it gets even stronger .

Once pierced with the Stand Arrow, Gold Experience evolves into Gold Experience Requiem – the most overpowered Stand there is.

It can nullify anything, reverting it back to never having happened. It’s so powerful that even Giorno doesn’t know how it operates.

18. The Hand

The Hand Stand in JoJo anime screenshot

The Hand is one of the most powerful Stands in the series and would be near unstoppable, were its user not a complete idiot.

Whenever The Hand swipes with its right hand, it ‘removes’ whatever was in the swiping trajectory, fusing the two points on either side.

He can effectively wipe out anything or anyone, except Okuyasu relies on simple combat tactics that can be seen coming a mile away. Truly, a tragedy.

17. King Nothing

King Nothing Stand in JoJo

King Nothing is a very weak Stand, not able to hold itself in combat at all.

It can track a scent and recreate the tracked object and its path by assembling a replica out of jigsaw pieces.

This Stand isn’t too powerful – in fact, quite a few perform similar, better abilities – but I’ve chosen him this high in the list for his design, and the way it manifests its power.

Looking like a glowing jester, with a lilac body made of jigsaw pieces, King Nothing has an incredibly unique and artistic design I adore.

16. Bohemian Rhapsody

Bohemian Rhapsody Stand in JoJo

The Stand of Ungalo is more on an unconscious supernatural phenomenon than any physical entity.

It manifests around the user, affecting fictional characters into the real world with a sinister twist.

The target starts to see these manifestations, which proceeds to try and drag the victim into their world through enactment of their various stories. This is a hard one to explain.

Basically, he can make Peter Pan come to life and kill you. That kind of thing.

Absolutely mental, befitting the psychotic, drug addled Ungalo.

15. Awaking III Leaves

Awaking III Leaves Stand in JoJo

This Stand takes the form of an ominously floating hooded figure covered in rotating arrows. Mitsuba uses Awaking III Leaves to create little arrows.

When attached to something, it will move energy to displace the surrounding vector space to propel it in the direction the arrow is pointed.

She can even stack these arrows to multiply the force, making her a powerful Stand user capable of complete repulsion / attraction.

14. Vitamin C

Vitamin C Stand in JoJo

Vitamin C is a terrifying Stand.

It emerges out of the wall, hundreds of spectral tentacles attached with hands at the tips. It carries the same jester motif as King Nothing, representing his part to play in the story. It can leave fingertips that, when touched, turn organisms into a liquid state.

It’s like you’re being melted, removed of substance, devolving into a puddle.

When softened, you become effectively useless, unable to resist or move due to lowered cognitive faculties. Horrific.

13. Civil War

Civil War Stand in JoJo

Weirdly mechanical, with a menacing, mocking, calm demeanor, Civil War has a very peculiar power. It can bring back anything a target has willfully discarded throughout their lives.

Let’s say you threw away a present and afterwards felt guilty about it. Well, when Civil War activates its guilt materialization, that present would reappear in front of you – then try to merge with you.

This ability extends to itself, as if it’s killed, it will be resurrected.

It’s far more complex than that, but really that’s the gist. It’s a devastating power that can quickly overwhelm.

12. Killer Queen

Killer Queen Stand in JoJo

As cute as it is threatening, Killer Queen is a disturbing Stand with multiple abilities.

Firstly, it can create mini bombs capable of entirely decimating an opponent upon contact.

Secondly, it can (when equipped with Stray Cat) fire invisible projectile bombs.

Third, it can manifest mini tank-like heat detecting bombs on wheels that can deflect any magnitude of force thrown at it.

Fourth, after being pierced with a Stand Arrow a second time, he reawakens Bites the Dust.

This final and outrageous ability allows him to create a temporal loop (think Groundhog Day) keeping him safe through futile repetition on his adversary’s behalf. He’s a Killer Queen.

11. Paisley Park

Paisley Park Stand in JoJo

Paisley Park is essentially “Google: The Stand”.

It can manipulate and navigate technology to gather information and discover searchable targets.

Its creepy feminine aura and distinct alien glow almost makes Paisley Park feel like an illuminated King Crimson. Though it strangely has a lot in common with its user, Yasuho .

10. Nut King Call

Nut King Call Stand in JoJo

Nut King Call is covered in screws and separating slates, giving the illusion it might fall apart at any moment.

This reflect its awesome power: it can create nuts and bolts on a target.

When a nut is removed, the artificial assemblance comes apart and dismantles painlessly. He can also do the reverse and combine things together. It’s like a re-imagining of Crazy Diamond (but, personally, way cooler).

9. Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap

Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap Stand in JoJo

The bunny resembling glamorous D4C is a cold humanoid presence that goes through two different forms.

Despite having above-average statistics, it possesses an incredible power in the JoJoverse.

It can travel parallel dimensions by being closed between two entities (underneath a blanket, behind a door) and reappear nearly anywhere else.

Funny Valentine can then switch places with an alternate version of himself, and return with the memories of the Funny Valentine that left. In this way, he can consistently nullify wounds and actions committed against him by switching bodies.

However, when in possession of the Saint’s Corpse, D4C evolves into D4C Love Train, a ridiculously overpowered Stand that can hide the user in a pocket dimension and redirect any misfortune to befall him elsewhere.

This essentially makes him invincible as any strike dealt against him will instead affect someone unknown, somewhere unknown.

D4C is one of the strongest Stands, and every fight with this ends up tense as all hell because of it.

8. Milagro Man

Milagro Man Stand in JoJo

This is one of the coolest Stands out there.

Basically, it manifests through an unlawful monetary transaction, and then overburdens the new user with cash.

Money will multiple slowly, then quickly, then unmanageably, eventually suffocating the user.

The only way to avoid its full potential is to either successfully return the money taken, or have it destroyed by someone else.

It’s a fun & gimmicky stand that works based on human psychology – and the way it almost floats from user to user makes it more of a curse than anything.

Really imaginative use of the Stand mechanic.

7. King Crimson

King Crimson Stand in JoJo

King Crimson is one of the most menacing Stands in JoJo’s thanks to its perpetually tormented faces and piercing green stare.

This, combined with the fact Diavolo often speaks through King Crimson, makes him a maniacal monster of a character.

His abilities are just as terrifying, as he has two: one that grants him the ability to see into the future, and another that allows time erasure lasting up to 10-seconds.

Ergo, he can perceive coming events and then undo them before they occur. King Crimson is a powerhouse able to compete with some of the strongest in the series – it just works.

C-Moon Stand in JoJo

C-force has an incredible design, comprising of a skeletal chromatic, green and silver figure, with arrows pointing out of its shoulders.

C-moon possesses three powerful abilities.

It unconsciously accelerates the rate of time around him; it can invert whatever it punches (including turning your body inside out, reverse the flow of water, etc); and acts as the center of a gravitational pull covering a radius of 3km.

So C-moon can become the core of any combat situation, making his enemies come to him against their will, waiting to land a devastating blow.

5. Catch the Rainbow

Catch the Rainbow Stand in JoJo

Catch the Rainbow is a ridiculously simple Stand that can be rendered completely useless dependent on circumstance.

When it’s raining, it manifests as a mask for Blackmore to wear and gives him the ability to walk atop raindrops.

Essentially, he’s given an infinite number of bullets with velocity and direction he can adjust.

It’s got an awesome design – a sleek white façade imprinted with a rainbow – and is one of my favorites due to its subdued, practical design.

4. Heaven’s Door

Heaven’s Door Stand in JoJo

Heaven’s Door is a small humanoid Stand resembling the main character of the manga authored by its user.

In this way, it has an intrinsic personal connection with Rohan, literally being a manifestation of his artistic imagination as well as his soul.

Many would suggest Heaven’s Door could be the strongest Stand in the whole franchise, were it not for the fact Rohan simply wants to draw manga and has no other ambitions aside that.

It can turn a person into a book, letting Rohan invasively read every aspect of your being, and even make some adjustments.

He can even use this Stand on himself and has proven to give someone the ability to speak Italian with a simple action.

Rohan could effectively rewrite any character of plot point at any moment, and is clearly an extension of Araki as an author and mangaka .

3. Soft and Wet

Soft and Wet Stand in JoJo

With a design comprising mechanical and sailing motifs, you’d expect a complex Stand ability revolving around one of the two. Well, kind of… though we’ve yet to see the full extent of Soft and Wet’s ability.

It’s got multiple complementary powers: bubble generation permits the formation of rapidly vibrating, rotating cords giving the illusion of transparent spheres – these ‘bubbles’ can lift things and deflect impact.

When used in conjunction with its second power, Plunder , it becomes truly frightening.

When a bubble explodes aside a target, it can steal a property – eyesight from an eye, water in a body, light from a lamp, friction from a surface, etc – allowing a versatility that mirrors Golden Experience’s creative capacities.

2. Sticky Fingers

Sticky Fingers Stand in JoJo

Sticky Fingers is one of the coolest, simplest stands, with awesome appeal.

Basically, whenever Sticky Fingers or Bruno punches, they can create zippers.

Once unzipped, a pocket dimension is revealed allowing Bruno quick traversal, containment, or willful dissection.

Essentially – he creates a hole through which he can travel or hide.

The versatility of his Stand makes Bruno a confident, constantly threatening opponent no matter the circumstances.

Tusk Stand in JoJo

Tusk goes through four ACTS dependent on Johnny’s SPIN state, and whether he possesses a Saint Corpse part.

In ACT1, it’s a small cute creature of odd proportions. It allows Johnny to shoot his fingernails like bullets and reload at a rapid speed. He learns to harness this power into a tracking shot.

In ACT2 it gains technological aspects and resembles a machine. Tusk can now shoot more proficiently, with greater accuracy and speed and tracking.

In ACT3 it grows to become a slightly more humanoid creature. Now, Tusk gives Johnny the ability of sucking his own body into a void by shooting himself with his fingernails. This wormhole grants Johnny interdimensional travel, but it is intensive.

In ACT4, attainable only through the Golden Spin, it becomes a beastly towering humanoid wall of slates and clippings, held together with motifs of stars and an awesome color palette.

This final form can create an infinite rotation throughout time and space, defying gravity and reason to force an endless Groundhog Day effect relative to the target.

It’s what many of the stands of the first 6 parts were building up to, combining Bites the Dust, Gold Experience Requiem, and other overpowered Stands into a fathomable assault of the senses. Truly nonsensical. And I love it.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Hamon and Stands, Explained

Hamon and Stands make JoJo's Bizarre Adventure the cool anime it is. But what are these concepts and how do these power systems work in JoJo?

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is one of those shonen anime that go on to become cult classics and set a high bar for future anime. But JoJo would not be enjoying the extreme popularity that it does today had it not been for its unique anime power system, Hamon and Stands.

The author of the JoJo manga, Hirohiko Araki, has had a versatile sort of journey through different parts of JoJo in terms of writing and crafting a universe born out of his creative mind. But what is even more interesting is how these concepts developed by Araki work and how their technicalities make them a layered anime power system.

RELATED: JOJOLands Chapter 1 Release Date & What To Expect

Hamon or Ripple or Sendo

Hamon is the first power system introduced in the first part and used in the early parts of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure franchise . The first JoJo protagonist, Jonathan Joestar, becomes a Hamon user after learning the technique from Baron Zeppeli, a significant character in the JoJo franchise. The process behind Hamon is quite lucid, it is a kind of controlled breathing that allows the practitioner to store sunlight-like energy in their body and attacks.

As mentioned by Baron Zeppeli to Jonathan, only one in ten thousand people have the capability to become a Hamon user. Since, the early protagonists in the initial parts of JoJo include vampires, zombies , and pillar men, and the sunlight is their weakness to a great extent, the Hamon comes in handy. The most fatal Hamon move is the Hamon overdrive. Hamon was a decent power system in JoJo as far as the early parts are concerned, but it did not have much scope for further development to supplement the storyline of the JoJo franchise. Hence, Araki introduced and used a new and far more intriguing power system than Hamon in the later parts of the JoJo , the Stand(s). Hamon was replaced by the Stands in the later parts of the JoJo with Joseph Joestar being the last Hamon user in the franchise.

The Stand(s) is surely one of the best shonen anime power systems in the entire anime universe. The concept of Stands was unveiled for the first time in the third story arc of the JoJo manga series, Stardust Crusaders . A Stand is a psychic entity or avatar generated and used by its owner called, a Stand user. To a certain extent, the Stands are the reflections of their user's self-image . Every Stand has a distinct style and set of abilities that they can use to wreak havoc on their competition. Stands come in all shapes and sizes. The JoJo characters in the later parts of the franchise fight with each other through their Stands.

RELATED: JoJo: Things To Expect from JoJolands

Stands are the manifestation or the evolved form of Hamon and comprised of it. The Stands is a heavily layered concept of power as the Stands possess various peculiar and intriguing characteristics like the very fact that the Stands are invisible to non-Stand users. The Stands age according to their users' ages. The storyline of the JoJo franchise from Stardust Crusaders and onwards revolves around the badass concept of Stands . In the franchise, the Stands find their origin when a meteorite containing an alien virus crashed on the Earth, and it infected the people who came in its contact and gave them Stands. Afterward, some old guy pounced on the idea of making a bow and arrow out of the material from that meteorite to bestow the powers of the Stand on anyone who was struck with that bow and those arrows. The Stand-making bow and arrows are first introduced in the Diamond Is Unbreakable part of the JoJo franchise .

Which Is Better Stand or Hamon?

Without even an ounce of doubt, the Stands beat Hamon any day and that too by a big margin. Appreciating Hamon cause it helped in giving the fans the sensational first two parts of the JoJo franchise but had it not been for the Stands JoJo 's future would have been doomed. It is the Stands that provide the franchise with the flexibility it was lacking when Hamon was the power system in JoJo . Besides that, Stand(s) gave Araki creative freedom to build a majestic and incredible world out of his beautiful mind which is the JoJo universe. Hamon could have been a useful weapon had it had other things in its arsenal besides the good old vanilla, Hamon overdrive.

The concept of Stands not only makes both the heroes and the villains go beyond the regular troupes of protagonists and antagonists but also adds more flavor to their intrinsic values of cunning and righteousness. The Stands are to thank for the breathtakingly spectacular fights that the viewers have witnessed and are still getting served with throughout the later parts of JoJo . The legendary fights that took place in JoJo like Jotaro Kujo vs Dio; Jotaro Kujo vs D'arby; Giorno Giovanna vs Cioccolata; Giorno Giovanna vs Diavolo; etc., were only made possible with the concept of Stands. It only makes sense that the Stands are better than the Hamon since the former is an evolved and more developed form of the latter, hence, Stand(s) trump Hamon fair and square.

All the episodes of the third and final part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure : Stone Ocean season are out to stream on platforms like Netflix worldwide.

Personality [ ]

No Personality.

Abilities [ ]

Foresight warning [ ].

Geneva will get a warning ten seconds in advance of any danger coming her way, including gunshots, falling rocks, and car crashes. This comes as a notification on her phone, and usually tells her what to do to avoid getting hurt. The only exception tio this is that it can only identify and track one danger source (usually the most imminent) at a time, meaning multiple assailants have the ability to overwhelm her.

Don't Stop Believin': Chain Reaction [ ]

By thinking about an outcome that she wants without it being completely impossible. For instance, she could want someone to be injured, but she couldn't want someone to be revived from the dead. When she uses it, her phone gives her an instruction (Ie: Put a thumbtack in the trash) which will then instigate a chain of events. The chain can only be interrupted by stand users who are expecting it (Ie: Epitaph, someone who knew about journey, etc) The outcome usually takes less than 24 hours, with longer ones corresponding to better outcomes.

10 Most Bizarre Stands in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure

Image of Stephanie Watel

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure has proven to be one of the most eccentric and truly unique mangas of this generation, being one the best-selling in history and spawning a variety of animated and live-action adaptations of its multiple story arcs, along with of course a fighting game called JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R . Filled with endless references to Western music and fashion icons, and some of the most unforgettable outfits and poses, the multi-part series also features life-or-death battles between Stands, which are psycho-spiritual manifestations with some incredibly creative and often deadly supernatural abilities. While some are iconic for being dangerously powerful and integral to the story, others proved to just be flat-out…well, bizarre. Here is our list of the 10 most bizarre stands in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure .

1. Baby Face

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure what is the Baby Face Stand

The first Stand on our list is one of the strangest ones found in JoJo’s fifth arc called Golden Wind (or “Vento Aureo” in Italian), which follows Giorno, Bucciarati and the rest of the gang tasked with escorting Trish, the daughter of Passione’s mafia boss, to safety on a remote island off the coast of Italy. Along the way they’re dictated to board a train to their destination, and while on there they encounter some truly obnoxious Stand users. Among them is Melone, who attempts to kidnap Trish using his Stand called Baby Face.

Baby Face is a computer-like humanoid Stand, whose initial form is the one seen above. As a computer it’s capable of generating a secondary, sentient Stand capable of complex development. To do this it requires a human DNA sample and subsequently a “suitable subject”, or rather a female victim, in order to breed the Stand, which is about as creepy and unsettling as it sounds.

Jojos Bizarre Adventure how Baby Face is defeated

How the woman in question is impregnated is never disclosed (thankfully), but the end result is a Stand that contains intelligence but must be taught like a child how to utilize it. It also contains the same personality as its victim, and in the case of this episode it inherits some very hot-headed traits from the unsuspecting female tourist that Melone selects. All of it results in a hilariously bizarre encounter between him and Bucciarati’s gang that of course ends in the latter’s victory.

In classic JoJo fashion, “Baby Face” also of course comes from the Grammy-winning musician of the same name. Such a name for this Stand is apparently supposed to be taken rather literally.

2. Super Fly

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure what is the Super Fly Stand

This next Stand hails from the fourth arc called Diamond is Unbreakable, which takes place in the peaceful (not really) suburban town Morioh, Japan. With yet another music-related name, Super Fly is encountered by Josuke, his school friend Okuyasu, and a recent yet brief addition to their team Mikitaka Hazekura, who turns out to be an alien.

On the outskirts of town, the three of them accidentally happen upon the Stand, which is actually bound to a transmission tower and has no other physical form. So the Stand itself is, basically, a tower.

The Stand’s user, or rather the one currently trapped by it, is Toyohiro Kanedaichi, a self-proclaimed eccentric hermit proudly embracing his lifestyle upon the tower. In actuality, he attempts to lure Josuke and the others into the affected territory within the tower, as doing so will relinquish the Stand’s control over him and allow him to escape. He intially succeeds, and Josuke and the others engage in a battle to defeat Toyohiro and free themselves.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure how Super Fly is defeated

On top of the tower being essentially invulnerable to offensive Stand attacks as it simply reflects them back out, anyone who is not free to leave risks being turned into metal and absorbed into the tower itself. Thus, the battle that ensues is an unsettling game of who can escape first. Mikitaka looks to sacrifice himself to allow his allies to get free, but fortunately Josuke is able to best Toyohiro before the series’ most amusing minor character is killed off.

“Super Fly” refers to the famous 1972 soul funk album released by Curtis Mayfield. While a bizarre choice of name for the Stand, to go out on a limb it could refer to the tower being a fly trap of sorts.

3. Highway to Hell

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure what is the Highway to Hell Stand

This next Stand is encountered near the beginning of the sixth arc called Stone Ocean, where we meet Jotaro’s estranged daughter Kujo Jolyne, the designated protagonist this time around. While serving a sentence for a crime she didn’t commit in a high-security prison in Florida, Jolyne is paid a visit by her father Jotaro, and the two of them are ambushed by the lackey of main antagonist Whitesnake.

Jotaro’s soul/stand and memories are stolen by Whitesnake, which inhabit the form of two CDs (in keeping with the ongoing musical theme of Stands), and he dies before they can be rescued by the Speedwagon foundation. Refusing to abandon her father, Jolyne embarks on a personal mission to retrieve his stolen discs and bring him back to life.

In the process she befriends a fellow inmate named Ermes, who agrees to help her while seeking personal revenge against Whitesnake for the death of her sister. Along the way, Ermes runs into another inmate named Thunder McQueen, who works as a janitor and is completely mentally unstable and suicidal.

Whitesnake provides him with a Stand called Highway to Hell, a unique and bizarre one that has no physical form besides a strange set of four protrusions with propellers on the ends. It also doesn’t have any offensive combat abilities. Instead, in rather disturbing fashion it only has the ability to share damage inflicted on the User. As McQueen is pathologically suicidal, he tries repeatedly to kill himself in various ways despite Ermes’ attempts to calm him.

When he tries to hang himself in a stall she endures being hung and suffocated, the Stand’s protrusions lifting her into the air. When McQueen tries drowning himself the Stand appears as a liquid mass, smothering her nose and mouth as seen in the picture above, in the imitation of forced drowning.

All in all, it makes the Stand quite formidable in the wrong (or right) hands, a suicidal inmate essentially being the perfect choice when trying to target someone. But propellers?

“Highway to Hell” refers to the 1979 song by band AC/DC, and it’s likely is a connotation to suicide being considered a sin in certain scenarios.

4. Love Deluxe

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure what is the Love Deluxe Stand

Love Deluxe is another of the truly bizarre Stands found in the Diamond is Unbreakable Arc, and it definitely gives off some Medusa vibes. Its user is high school student Yukako Yamagishi, who it turns out has a huge (putting it lightly) crush on none other than Koichi Hirose . She coerces him to go on a date with her, which he heartily accepts, only for it to end up going a bit stranger than expected.

Yukako’s obsessive infatuation with Koichi inflames severe, even violent mood swings she has for seemingly no apparent reason, given her normally very aloof personality. One moment she’s demure and sweet, the next she’s destroying the table while screaming at the top of her lungs. Koichi knows something isn’t right, but isn’t sure what to do.

She winds up kidnapping him and taking him to a house remotely located near the coastline. There she plans to keep him locked away while brainwashing him into reciprocating her feelings, while also forcibly training him to fit an idealized picture of himself. This is where her Stand finally comes into view, and it turns out that it’s bound to her long, beautiful, jet-black locks of hair.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure what the Love Deluxe stand does

The Stand was initially bestowed upon her by Keicho Nijimura and his Arrow. Essentially, it gives Yukako’s hair extremely strong, prehensile abilties, allowing her to effectively use it as a deadly weapon. She can spontaneously extend it, even long enough to wrap around the entire house, pick up and hurl heavy objects, and use it to strike or smother her targets. She can even implant strands of it into her victim’s scalp in order to physically control them.

As a whole, it makes this mini-arc of the story disturbingly hilarious, and after being rescued by Josuke and Okuyasu, Koichi reunites with Yukako after the incident and they pursue a mutual relationship.

“Love Deluxe” refers to the fourth album released in 1992 by English band Sade, and the connotations of love are definitely apparent here.

5. Beach Boy

journey stand jojo

While the encounter with this Stand definitely doesn’t take place anywhere near a beach, the name of it is no less comical, along with the Stand itself which is… yes, a fishing rod. Despite it being an entirely ordinary looking object, it proves itself to be the deadliest fishing rod in existence.

During the Golden Wind arc, Giorno and the others engage this Stand while on the train ride to Florence, where they’re instructed to bring Trish next. The User of the Stand is Pesci, the weak-willed and very eccentric-looking younger brother of Prosciutto. For much of the encounter throught the “Grateful Dead” mini-arc, Pesci follows the orders of his sibling while often succumbing to his insecurities and lack of confidence.

However, his Stand proves to be a formidable weapon as the rod’s hook and fishing line have multiple abilities. It can phase through literally any obstacle to seek out its target, making hiding a limited advantage, and Pesci even uses it to easily cut through a victim’s flesh to pinpoint and destroy vital organs.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure how Beach Boy stand is defeated

Also, the extremely sensitive fishing line can detect lifeforms and their physicalities in any given area it’s cast into, right down to their heartbeat. Destroying the line itself is also out of the question, as any damage inflicted on it will instead reflect back on the target and their Stand.

This all makes Beach Boy quite the threat, despite its otherwise silly and bizarre appearance that would easily make anyone misjudge. Fortunately, Bucciarati and the gang overcome Pesci, ultimately defeating him with his own Stand.

Also, “Beach Boy” refers to the rock band of the same name that was extremely popular during the 1960s.

6. Mister President

journey stand jojo

This next stand definitely has one of the strangest names yet, and additionally, is hidden within a very unassuming object. Also found during the Golden Wind arc, Mister President is in fact a Stand in the form of a key hidden inside of a very important turtle named Coco Jumbo.

Bestowed as a gift by the Boss of Passione, it serves as a sanctuary for Giorno and the others while they transport his daughter Trish to safety. It has no combat abilities whatsoever, but makes for a very advantageous mobile hiding spot during their travels and dangerous encounters. It resembles the appearance of a semi-luxurious hotel room, albeit with no restroom which makes for some comical moments amongst the gang.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure what the inside of Mister President Stand looks like

Take a moment to let that sink in: at the instruction of an Italian mob boss, Bucciarati’s gang takes refuge in a fully furnished room, contained within a key atop a turtle. If this was found in any other manga, you would be excused for thinking the author had just put some random phrases into an idea generator. In the mind of Hirohiko Araki, however? It’s par for the course, though definitely on the stranger side.

“Mister President” refers to an artist who sings a song called “Coco Jumbo” in 1996.

7. Pearl Jam

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure what is the Pearl Jam Stand

Essentially the only food-type Stand found in all of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is yet another non-combative one that serves an entirely different purpose, and is powerful in an entirely different way. Pearl Jam is encountered in potentially the most hilarious filler episode of the fourth arc, Diamond is Unbreakable.

Josuke and Okuyasu decide to stop by an Italian restaurant found near the edge of Morioh called Trattoria Trussardi. There they meet an exceptionally passionate and professional chef named Tonio Trussardi, the owner of the establishment. He excitedly invites the two of them in for a meal, and guides them through the process of a truly authentic Italian experience. However, there is no menu and Tonio decides on what to cook simply by examining the palms of their hands, somehow identifying any and all ailments they have, from aching muscles to sleep deprivation to constipation.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure what Pearl Jam stand does.

Throughout the episode, Josuke and Okuyasu feel an air of suspicion around this miraculously gifted chef, particularly given the mysterious murders that have been happening in Morioh (thanks to a certain someone else of course). However, with each meal they eat they find themselves swiftly cured of their aches and pains. Okuyasu’s cavity-filled teeth are ejected from his mouth and two new, healthy ones grow in their place.

With the power of his Stand, Josuke discovers that there are strange-looking organisms bound to the food they’re ingesting. Resembling a cross between a tomato and a pearl onion (hence the name) with faces and arms, they meld with the ingredients of a cooked meal and provide exceptional health benefits, with the ability to cure most ailments.

It’s a stand that’s by and far destined for an ambitious and talented culinarian like Tonio, who only wants to share spectacularly-made food with his customers that can also help them live happy and healthy lives.

“Pearl Jam” is based on the famous grunge rock band that was most popular through the 1990s.

8. Strength

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Strength

This Stand and its User make it truly one of the most bizarre on this list, and it hails from the Stardust Crusaders arc. Joseph Joestar and the gang first encounter this Stand aboard an ordinary-looking freighter in the South China Sea bound for India. While on the otherwise peaceful cruise, the group discovers an orangutan inside a cage down in the cargo hold.

He appears to be an entirely normal orangutan, until the charade comes down and he reveals a heightened intelligence, enough to cut up an apple, smoke cigarettes, gander at Playboy magazines, and even solve a Rubiks cube. He also dons a Captain’s coat.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure how the Strength stand is defeated

It turns out that the orangutan, weirdly named Forever, is another lackey working for DIO. He also possesses a Stand called Strength, named for the Tarot Card of the same name. The Stand itself has taken control of the freighter, and actually morphed it to such a size from a much smaller boat. Having complete psychic control over the bound ship right down to its bolts, Forever confronts the gang, almost killing them outright by encasing them in metal tombs created by the ship’s pipes.

Ultimately the gang outsmarts him, taking advantage of his cockiness, and Jotaro kills him with his Stand, Star Platinum. Forever’s death causes the illusion of the freighter to dissipate, leaving behind only the small boat it had originally been.

“Forever” is a call-back to the album “Wu-Tang Forever” by the Wu-Tang Clan. It’s also presumed that he’s an homage to another malicious orangutan in the 1986 British horror movie, Link.

9. Cheap Trick

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure what is the Cheap Trick Stand

Cheap Trick is yet another Stand found in the iconic Diamond is Unbreakable arc, and is equal parts bizarre and annoying. Its origin lies with a man named Masazo Kinoto, an architect who is employed by Rohan Kishibe to estimate the costs to repair his house. At the same time he is made an unwilling host to a Stand bestowed by Yoshihiro Kira, with the motive to kill Rohan.

Cheap Trick’s power is parasitic in nature, as it seeks to harm its host/user rather than aid them. Its signature move is clinging to the back of its current victim, and it cannot be removed in any way without them risking death. Sadistic in nature, while attached it will continuously berate and taunt the host in an attempt to disorient and wear them down psychologically.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure how Cheap Trick is defeated

At the same time it will call out to nearby people, as it’s one of the few stands that can be heard by non-users, and tempt them to look at the host’s back. Doing so will cause Cheap Trick to detach from the host’s back, killing them in the process before attaching to its new victim.

Rohan struggles to find a way to rid himself of the pest-like Stand, eventually running into Koichi who attempts to use his Echoes ACT3 to remove it. Despite Echoes’ immense strength it doesn’t work and the only solution winds up being Rohan making his way to the Ghost Girl’s Alley without his back being seen. The Alley being an interdimensional purgatory, a mass of disembodied hands appear to pry Cheap Trick safely from Rohan, who at the last second uses Heaven’s Door to rewrite its Fate and send it to Hell.

“Cheap Trick” refers to the 1970’s American rock band of the same name.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure what is the Sethan Stand

The final entry on our list goes to one other extremely bizarre Stand found in the latter half of the Stardust Crusaders arc, while Joseph Joestar and the rest of the gang are in Egypt. As Polnareff and Jotaro go in search of one of two remaining Glory Gods working for DIO, a very eccentric-looking man (what Stand User isn’t though) named Alessi appears to be tailing them.

While he beats up a random innocent child that accidentally runs into him, Polnareff confronts him, accusing him of being the potential target. Alessi tries to play it off but the confrontation ends in him brandishing his Stand named Sethan, after the Egyptian god of chaos and storms.

It appears as a large shadow with unsettling eyes, acting as Alessi’s shadow that’s able to wield any weapon he holds like his axe. Also, anyone who comes into contact with the shadow faces dire consequences.

Polnareff touches it for a mere second and starts to notice something very strange happening. With each passing minute he shrinks physically, not merely in terms of size but age. Before long he’s shrunk all the way down to that of a 3 year old, becoming utterly defenseless. Since Stands attribute their growth and power to that of their User, Silver Chariot is also rendered practically useless.

What ensues from there is a bizarre game of cat and mouse between baby-sized Polnareff and Alessi with Sethan. A young woman named Malena takes Polnareff in from the streets to take care of him, and Alessi chases him throughout the house, using Sethan to try and kill him. Malena accidentally gets caught up in the fight, and after touching the shadow for several seconds is rendered down to an actual fetus. Polnareff gathers her in a towel and flees to a dead end room.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Jotaro helps to defeat Alessi and Sethan

The whole encounter concludes with Polnareff hiding from Alessi in the room just long enough to strike him in the face with Silver Chariot, causing him to fall out of the nearby window. Jotaro happens to be there and accidentally gets grazed by Sethan long enough to shrink down to a young child. However, hilariously enough, Jotaro is still strong enough to beat up Alessi and knocks him out.

That concludes our list of the 10 most bizarre stands in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. We hope that you found this as entertaining as the show itself, and let us know what you think of our choices, or if you feel another Stand should belong on this list.

Stone Free ( ストーン・フリー , Sutōn Furī , occasionally shortened to SF ( S・F ) ) is the Stand of Jolyne Cujoh , featured in Stone Ocean .

  • 1 Appearance
  • 2.1 String Decomposition
  • 6 References
  • 7 Site Navigation

Appearance [ ]

Stone Free is a humanoid Stand of a height and build similar to Jolyne's.

It wears what appear to be a pair of green sunglasses varying in darkness, obscuring vertically ridged eyes. Four blade-like protrusions run over its head from the top of the jaw to the back of its neck, bordering the sides of both eyes. Cones truncated at a length of one-third the width of its head protrude from the region of the ears.

It wears elliptical shoulder pads with a snakeskin pattern, and hexagonal knee pads. Several patches of its lightly-shaded body reveal a fibrous interior, wound horizontally. Its forehead, neck, arms, and the area from its midriff to the top of its feet bear small, evenly spaced studs/bumps.

Composed of string, when unraveled its texture is like silk, apparently smelling of soap. [2]

Stone Free is portrayed in most media featuring it as being cyan. The string itself is portrayed as white.

Stone Free's apparent gender is sometimes shown as being masculine, but usually as feminine. Occasionally, for instance, Stone Free is depicted as having masculine abs as opposed to feminine breasts. However, it is supposed to be feminine in nature. This is supported by Jolyne referring to it using feminine pronouns despite Stands not having specific gender, as well as the convention of the apparent genders of Stands seeming to tend to follow those of their Users as applicable.

Abilities [ ]

Stone Free is a unique close-range Stand that can not only be summoned to fight, but also provides Jolyne with integrated abilities. Like her father 's Star Platinum , Jolyne's Stone Free focuses on speed, precision and power, making it powerful in combat. Moreover, its string power gives it incredible versatility that allows Jolyne a wide array of actions.

When Stone Free's string is completely wound or compacted, it is much more strong; the destructive force of its punch roughly equivalent to that exerted by a small, extremely fast meteor. [2] It is also fast enough to deflect several bullets aimed at it. [3]

String Decomposition [ ]

Stone Free enables Jolyne to unravel her body into string, typically beginning with her hands, [4] and freely manipulate it. [5]

Stone Free's string is invisible to non-Stand Users [5] but it is portrayed inconsistently. It is also sharp as it can slice through flesh when pulled violently enough (however, this too is portrayed inconsistently [3] ). [4] On the other hand, the string is not particularly strong and may snap if strained too much, [5] although Jolyne can create a stronger rope out of several strings. With enough precision, the string can pickpocket small objects that way. [6] The string can contract and expand like muscles, allowing Stone Free to control the grip a string has. It has also been shown that as Jolyne's body is the part that turns to string, she is able to physically touch and harm Stand, holding some physical properties of being her own Stand. [7] However, by the same token, others (in particular Stand users) can touch and even break strings created by Jolyne with no apparent harm to her. [3]

If Jolyne gathers the string and meshes it, she can concentrate her power and form Stone Free's humanoid appearance, who may fight in her stead, [8] but Stone Free's range is shortened to around 2 meters. [9] Stone Free, composed of strings, can naturally be unraveled too. [10]

Jolyne may unravel around 70% of her body harmlessly, as well as quickly rewind. It notably allows her to be supernaturally flexible and be able to hide in cramped spaces like someone's mouth. [11] At harm to herself, Jolyne may also cut her string for a further variety of applications. Stone Free's maximum range, unraveled to 70%, is about 24 meters, as long as the string's length. [2] [12]

Jolyne using Stone Free to scale a wall

Stone Free's string manipulation makes it exceptionally versatile in battle. With the string, Jolyne is able to:

  • Eavesdrop on distant conversations in the form of sound vibrations through her string by the same principles behind the tin can telephone W [4] but also converse through them. [13]
  • Slice people with the sharpness of the strings. [4]
  • Pickpocket small objects. [6]
  • Weave a tight net instantly strong enough to stop bullets to protect herself. [14] [15]
  • Create a large net to capture enemies. [16]
  • Tie people up for various uses, mainly pulling them in range [3] or choking them. [5] [17]
  • Stitch her wounds. [18]
  • Deploy a "string barrier" to detect movements over a large area. [19]
  • Create complex patterns to the point where Stone Free can make a portrait. [20]
  • Swing from place to place. [21]
  • Counteract C-Moon 's ability to turn things inside-out, by meshing affected areas of her body into a Möbius strip W . [22]

  • The katakana at the beginning of the words 'Stone' and 'Free', ス and フ , are the same as the katakana at the beginning of the words in Star Platinum 's name, with the 'fu' in Platinum having a handakuten W  diacritic that changes its pronunciation.
  • Stone Free smells like soap. This trait could be a reference to Charmy Green , which was named after Charmy soap.

  • 1 Appearance/Personality
  • 2 Abilities

Appearance/Personality

Journey takes the form of a large mechanical bronze horse. Unlike most stands, it brandishes a unique personality. Journey acts like a normal horse, forcing Johnny to tame it throughout his adventure. This is symbolic of Johnny's desire to find himself.

Journey's ability is rather simple. Other than moving at the speed of a sports car, Journey also enhances the ability of anyone who isn't the user.

Stardust Crusaders

Jonathan's Stand

This unnamed Stand possessed by Jonathan Joestar 's corpse and used by DIO is featured in the third part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, Stardust Crusaders .

It is a plant-like Stand that bears a resemblance to Joseph's Hermit Purple and shares similar abilities. DIO uses its power to track down the Joestar group throughout their journey.

The stand is identical to Hermit Purple in appearance, manifesting as multiple thorn-covered vines that come out of DIO's arms.

Color Schemes

Vines (Purple and blue, pink rose petals)

Similar to Hermit Purple, it can produce a psychic photograph by striking a camera (although the camera is notably not destroyed, unlike Joseph's usage). DIO used this technique to track the Joestars and their friends' current location to send Stand users after them. DIO can even use its power to interrupt Hermit Purple’s own psychic divination. This Stand is also capable of showing an image present in someone's heart through a crystal ball. DIO used it to show Polnareff one image of J. Geil , as that image represented the pain Polnareff felt in his heart.

Along with activating his own Stand The World , it was stated that DIO's semi-precognitive abilities that seemed to have resulted from a Hermit Purple -like Stand were due to a Stand power that awoke in the body of Jonathan Joestar . [1]

In the novel JORGE JOESTAR , Jonathan's Stand is named The Passion ( 受難 ( ザ・パッション ) , Za Passhon ) . It is the Stand of Jonathan Joestar and Dio Brando after stealing Jonathan's body. In the novel it can predict the futures of anyone that is blood related to its user.

The Passion appears the same as Hermit Purple but as a crown of thorns on the user's head. The thorns slightly move on their own when its abilities are used. [2]

The Passion allows its user to accurately foresee the detailed futures of any of their blood related relatives, allowing the user to make their own prophecies. It can predict actions from a few seconds later to events in the extremely far future.

The ability is not limited to only their immediate relatives. It allows them to foresee the future lives of even the incarnations of their relatives in subsequent universes. Dio is capable of using the ability on both his own and Jonathan's relatives. It also allows them to forsee the future of anyone who they have consumed the blood of. Dio used this when eating the body of a different version of Kars and making his blood agree with him.

Dio uses the ability while underwater in his coffin for one hundred years, devising a plan that will let him become the Ultimate Thing. He also uses it on Giorno Giovanna who is from an unknown universe, admitting he didn't pay much attention to Giorno in future universes after foreseeing the original Giorno defeat Diavolo in the first universe.

Although its future predictions are accurate, the future can be changed by a singularity with a Beyond , such as Jorge Joestar . [3]

Jon Gosselin says his weight loss journey is coming along nicely and that a proposal to his girlfriend, Stephanie Lebo, may come sooner than she thinks.

Speaking from the grand opening of the Beverly Hills Rejuvenation Center in West Hollywood on Thursday, the 47-year-old dad of eight told ET's Brice Sander that his plan to shed weight before popping the question to Lebo, 36, is paying off. As for how and when the proposal will happen, Gosselin is keeping his lips sealed.

"I can't tell you because she's probably going to watch this. So it's -- everything's like a big surprise," he said. "I've lost like 32 pounds, so, you know, I feel pretty good about it... I want to do further. So, I know when I'm going to propose."

Gosselin -- who is working with the Beverly Hills Rejuvenation Center's health and wellness program on his fitness journey and attended the event as the party's DJ -- told ET earlier this year that after more than two years of dating Lebo in private, he was finally considering putting a ring on it.

Since that interview, he said the questions about when he will get on bended knee have only ramped up, giving him -- and her family members -- a hilarious opportunity to egg Lebo on. Despite the jokes, he knows that she is a part of his future and that a proposal is coming down the pike soon.

Gosselin shared, "I've always wanted to be with someone who's supportive and I love her to death and my kids love her, too. So, I mean, I'm not getting any younger."

In a candid conversation with ET back in February, the former TLC star opened up  about his health and potential wedding bells , which is when he first shared that getting down on one knee is more a "matter of when" than an "if." At the time, Gosselin said that he just wants to feel and look his best for both the proposal and the wedding.

"I love Stephanie and I have future plans with her, but I want to be in maybe the best shape of my life," he shared. "She loves me for who I am, dad bod or whatever, but in my mind, you know, we all see ourselves as 25 and fit... that's where I wanna be."

"I have plans," he added of what his future with Lebo could look like. "We have a house together... but I want to get this figured out, my health."

After he quit his day job to pursue his dream of being a DJ, Gosselin previously told ET that he let himself go. The situation only worsened, he said, by being in a healthy relationship where he felt comfortable enough to gain weight.

"I just got complacent with my health," he said at the time. "I'm in a comfortable relationship. I love my girlfriend, Stephanie. We just eat whatever we want, do whatever."

Determined to change both his physical appearance and overall health as someone with a family history of heart disease, Gosselin recommitted to his health goals and devised a plan to cut body fat and improve his wellness.
