The Excitement, The Ecstasy
I love this meme because it’s the way I always feel when I’m about to embark on a trip, or even sometimes when I’ve just booked the flights or made a decision to actually go!
Like running around shouting “I’m going on an adventure!”.
It comes from the The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey movie which is also filmed in my home country of New Zealand, and I visited the exact location of this shot recently so now I love it even more!

Funny Travel Memes That Obsessive Travellers Can Relate To
When people hassle you for travelling too much (as if that’s a thing).
My lovely family often blames me for travelling too much.
They always keep telling me why do I need to travel so much.
And when will I do all the normal things that ‘normal’ girls of my age do (Earlier it was marriage, now that I am already married, it has come down to having kids!).
Now both mine and my husband’s side of the family thinks I am obsessed with travelling. And whenever they tell me this, I roll my eyes and reply that I could have been a serial killer or drug addict.
And the irony is that I had started travelling as a kid with my parents and extended family of uncles and aunts!
Amrita, Tale of 2 Backpackers , Instagram
When You Love to Travel but your Bank Account is Cryin’ For Help
I picked this meme because not only is always appropriate to include High School Musical references, but also because it rings true as an ever-present struggle for many keen travellers.
Jetting off to new and exciting places can be expensive at the best of times, so when you’re constantly prowling Skyscanner for the next best deal your bank account is the first to suffer!
The play-off between the need to see the world and the need to sustain a living is a tough one, but as anyone who loves travel will tell you, you make it work somehow!
Suzy, Suzy Stories , Twitter
Babies or Travel? Travel.
What do we say to having babies? Not today!
This meme describes me in so many ways! I caught myself staring at my world map with the same interest my girl friends look at baby photos.
Okay, I’m closer to the 30s than to the 20s, but still…look at this map again.
There are so many places out there to explore! So, nope, not today.
Bruna, Maps ‘N Bags – Facebook

And I must go. My mother taught me good manners.
Vacation Mode. Check!
Turn on the happiness. Turn off the emails.
Did Someone Say Vacation? One Second…
OK, I’m ready.
Travelling is My Favourite!
I’d be a lot richer if that wasn’t true.
Funny Vacation Memes
When you’ve planned everything and your partner throws a curveball.
I love planning trips. I find it fun, rewarding, and relaxing.
I have all the hallmarks of a Type-A personality, however my husband loves chaos and ruining our travel plans.
I still love planning, but he definitely loves to laugh a bit too evilly whenever he puts a kink into my perfectly planned road trips.
Karen, Wanderlusting K – Facebook
Throw A Pin on the Map? Maybe Not….
I found this meme on Pinterest years ago and have kept it in my “Humor” board ever since.
While I love the idea of just winging it and throwing a dart anywhere at a map, it’s also ironic because 70% of our world is covered by water.
So this meme just puts it into perspective how much we take the ocean and travel for granted. It also makes me laugh every time I see it and show it to people!
Natasha, The World Pursuit , Facebook
When It Turns Out to Be More of a Challenge than you Expected
This cycling meme particularly appeals to me, because I do a lot of my travel by bicycle.
I can’t mention how many times someone said the next section of road would be flat, and I ended up faced with this!
I think the beauty of this travel meme though, is that it is symbolic of any type of travel or even your journey through life.
Dave, Dave’s Travel Pages , Facebook
Escape Them All!
Just me, myself and I.
It’s Not My Problem Because… Vacation
Didn’t you get the memo? I’ll switch into give a sh*t mode in exactly two weeks.
Hi, My Name is…. And I’m an Overpacker
Well, you never know what might happen right!
Stop. Taking. Pictures. Dammit.
You said a holiday, not a fashion shoot.

Is it a Mimosa? No. Well I’m Not Interested Then.

Long Haul Flight Memes + Airport Travel Memes
The joy of getting a row to yourself.
Travel can be so stressful and flights are certainly no fun fair with security lines, all that waiting around and the thought of spending hours in a cramped seat with total strangers sitting just a bit too close.
But what if some magic meant you had a spare seat on the plane or even better two!
This meme perfectly sums up the mix of happiness and relief of a full row to yourself on an aeroplane.
After all the stress of the airport, that extra leg space or perhaps nap space will definitely result in the happy seal face!
Kirstin, The Tinberry Travels , Instagram
The Ridiculous Overweight Baggage Charade
I find this travel meme hilarious in the way it states the obvious.
Having to unpack and repack my stuff into a different bag that goes on the same plane just doesn’t add up, does it?
I love it when some airlines aren’t really that strict about checking the weight of your carry-on, but the ones that insist on doing so and then making people unpack and repack – it’s a hassle that travellers could do without.
I like how this meme puts across this issue that most travellers face at some point.
Namita, Radically Ever After , Instagram
Weird Thoughts From 36,000 Ft
If you have been on a plane before, you know that it can be a frustrating and exhausting experience.
You don’t really realize how much time you spend aimlessly scrolling through newsfeeds and texting your friends.
If this meme doesn’t speak to you on a spiritual level, I don’t know what does!
I always find myself counting the seats on a plane or tapping incessantly when the boredom hits while on a long haul flight.
This meme reminds me that I am not the only flier who thinks about some, well, interesting things while they fly.
Weird things happen when you’re stuck in a metal tube with a million other people.
Bailey, The Gay Globetrotter – Facebook
Adulting the Sh*t Outta Life
I have a little bit of a reputation for being a hot mess.
Although I’ve made it to 30+ countries relatively unscathed, I usually do lose a passport, forget essentials like underwear or just plain miss the flight.
I connect with this meme practically on a spiritual level because, like success kid, I feel victories in the little things when it comes to travel.
That’s why I now pack two or three spare batteries instead of one!
Eileen from Pure Wander
What Happened Along the Way?
When I was a child, I was fascinated with planes. Flying and being pampered while in the air! Maybe it was as I was a kid, I was happy to get what I could .
With the increase in carriers over the years, I’ve realized how things have gone downhill!
Gone are the days where flying is only for professionals, the cheaper flying gets, the quality of services being provided falls further!
Lavinia, Continent Hop , Instagram

Thoughtful Travel Memes
The only thing you buy that makes you richer.
Travel always had a positive effect on my life and I cherish the fact that I have been born to travel and I consider myself very fortunate to be able to travel.
‘Travel is the only thing you buy, that makes you richer’ is my favorite travel meme.
Everything in this world is temporary but the learnings, teachings that we gain from travelling stays with us.
It enriches your life as you come to know about other religions, people’s characters, their lifestyle and way of communicating.
I have gained a lot from traveling.
Somnath, Travel Crusade , Facebook
Travel Buddy Memes
When your friends bail on you and you’re left flying solo.
I chose this travel meme since this is one of the reasons I started traveling solo.
I was tired of friends cancelling and rescheduling travel plans. I realised that life is too short to be dependent on anyone else.
I would prefer doing something that I love on my own rather than waiting for people who may or may not join.
Soumya, Travel, Books and Food , Instagram
Sure, You’re Coming Travelling With Me (ROFL)
Oh this old charade again… why you lying for?
You, You’re PERFECT
I want you to travel with me everywhere all the time.
Digital Nomad Memes
Perception vs reality.
I love this meme about being a digital nomad.
Although many people think being a digital nomad is a glamorous lifestyle of lying by the beach during the day and partying at night, the reality is much different.
Most of us spend all of our time in front of our laptops working and, like the final picture shows, are often working so late that we crash out in front of it.

Moving Abroad Travel Memes

24 in 2024: career anxiety, travel dreams and ‘meme studies’ in South Korea
Ryu Ji-hwan and his friends hope to soon land corporate jobs but worry about what’s next and making the right choices
- 24 in 2024: read the full series from the Guardian
Twenty-four in 2024 is a series on the lives, hopes and fears of 24-year-olds around the world in a year of election uncertainty, conflict and climate change.
Where do you live?
I live in Jeonju, South Korea . It’s famous for its traditional Hanok houses, Korean cuisine including bibimbap and its film festival. I used to live with my family, but for the past two years, I’ve been living alone in a studio near my university.
What do you do?
I major in industrial and information systems engineering. I did my compulsory 18-months military service around my studies, and I have one year to go. I’m learning about production scheduling, quality management and the growing importance of AI and big data, especially related to South Korea.
What apps do you use?
“KakaoTalk” is a Korean messaging app that every single person uses. No jokes. And a food delivery app… which might be making me lazy. I’m always on YouTube and might have a slight addiction to Instagram All these short videos … it’s hard to take a break.
What do you listen to?
I’m all about K-pop! I lean more towards tunes that aren’t overly upbeat but still carry a certain charm. Lately, I’ve been listening to a lot of tracks by a singer named Yerin Baek. Also highly recommend Square that’s sung in English.
What do you eat?
I absolutely love traditional Korean food. I’m almost obsessed with kimchi stew, but no one makes it better than my mum. Living alone now, I try to make the dish at home, but a few months ago, a local man started selling it to broke students for just 3,000 won (£1.80; $2.25) right in front of my house! So my home cooking has … taken a bit of a backseat shall we say? If you come to Korea, come to Jeonju, you’re in for a culinary treat.
How do you socialise?
My friends and I usually hang out at restaurants or bars. We also have an unspoken rule we bring to every gathering – “meme studies”. Memes are an integral part of our identity; we just can’t define ourselves without them, and by “studies” I mean laughing and having a good time lol. But we also do some serious talking. Since we all want jobs in the corporate world, job-related discussions have dominated recent conversations. It’s something I’m really worried about.
What do you wear?
Koreans really love their padded jackets, especially those in their 20s and 30s. I have a couple. Winters can be really dry, and in some places, temperatures can easily drop below -10°C. With the biting cold wind, it feels like your skin could tear apart. My wardrobe is mostly dark-coloured. I also prefer comfortable or oversized clothes. Guys my age hate skinny jeans, and you’ll definitely never catch me wearing them!
Tell us about your Saturday
If I’m not meeting friends and it’s not cold, I usually start with a light 3-5 km run. I’m not the type to stay at home all day, so after eating, I like to grab the camera my dad gave me when I was younger and go out exploring. I love capturing spaces I find appealing. Then, I like to sit in a quiet spot and listen to music. My friends are going to tease me by asking, “When the hell were you ever like that?” but I’m serious. When I’m alone, I tend to do these things occasionally ... haha!
How do you relax?
Either lying in bed watching Netflix or going out for walks and taking photos. Meeting friends and indulging in yummy foods. But what I really love is travelling, that’s my ultimate way to unwind. I have a special affection for Jeju Island, a short flight away. It’s really beautiful, and I find solace in just staring at the sea there. I’d love to live there someday.
What do you want?
I want a career. As graduation approaches, I know I need to secure a job.I’d love to pursue a career in production management. But more immediately, what I want most are diverse experiences. Experience shapes us, right? I crave a variety of experiences because they enrich and diversify who I am.
What do you fear?
Me five years from now. I wonder how I’ll perceive myself then. Even though I’m determined to gain experiences now, I worry if I’ll look back and say, “Yes, that was the right path; I did well.” However, since I can’t predict what will happen tomorrow, let alone in five years, I know I need to walk the path I’ve chosen with confidence and give it my best shot.
What do you want to tell us?
There’s a famous story in Korea about a Buddhist monk called Wonhyo who took shelter in a cave during a rainstorm on his way to China to seek enlightenment. During the night, he was thirsty and drank what he thought was fresh water from a bowl. The next day he realised it was actually putrid water from a human skull, and that the cave was actually a tomb. This torment led him to realise “All is what comes from the mind.” I’ve realised that I’ve been needlessly anxious about my plans for this year, forgetting this simple truth.
What’s next?
I’ll continue learning. But I plan to take a break from my studies, and I want to try out a working holiday in Australia. Apart from China and Japan, I haven’t been abroad.
What does the world in 2024 look like to you?
I hope that in 2024 we can reduce our suffering. I believe that through dialogue with mutual respect, interest in one another, and an open mind, we can alleviate pain arising from various conflicts such as those based on religion, generation, gender, ideology and so on. I guess such actions start with myself, right?

Travel agency uses memes to encourage people to visit North Korea
Thanos recommends you visit north korea..

The United States government does not recommend you visit North Korea . The State Department lists the nation, officially known as the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, as a level four threat, or “Do not travel” (their highest warning) “due to the serious risk of arrest and long-term detention of U.S. nationals.”
The United States also has no embassy in North Korea. The U.S. relies on the Swedish government for help when problems arise with American citizens, but again, according to the State Department, “The North Korean government routinely delays or denies Swedish officials’ access to detained U.S. citizens.”
That being said, the country can’t stop you from going to North Korea. A 2012 Los Angeles Times article reported that travel agencies estimated that anywhere from 4,000-6,000 western tourists visit North Korea every year, although it seems likely that escalating tensions and the threat of nuclear war have had an effect on those numbers.
Maybe that’s why a travel agency called “ Visit North Korea ” is trying a new approach to drum up tourism. It’s begun using memes to catch people’s attention and tell them how cheap, and safe, a trip to the DPRK can be.

Interestingly enough, Thanos , the mad Titan who wants to kill half of all life in the universe, seems to be their top choice for memes.

https://www.facebook.com/VisitTheDPRK/photos/a.470214419822359/1221048574738936/?type=3&theater
Not surprisingly, people are responding to these posts with memes of their own.
Because North Korea maintains tight control over anyone visiting the country, it’s likely that Visit North Korea is either being directly or indirectly controlled by the North Korean government. If you book a trip with them, you also won’t be allowed to go wandering around on your own. A visit to North Korea is a highly regimented ordeal and westerners must remain with official tour guides at all times.
According to the agency’s website, “Visit North Korea provides expert-led travel with an emphasis on engagement in the world’s most secretive country. Our high quality, affordable North Korea tours offer a unique, objective and priceless experience guaranteed to leave an impression.”
This is especially true if you end up spending time in one of their famous North Korean prisons.

Tips and hacks for the ultimate korea trip, have you been dreaming of finally flying to the land of amazing food, k-dramas, and k-pop if you don’t know where to start, consider this your ultimate guide to having the trip of your dreams, mariel abanes.
South Korea is a must-see destination for many, especially following the pandemic when we all got obsessed with everything Korean-related. And if, after a long travel hiatus, you’ve finally decided to book that flight to the land of Hallyu , DIY-ing your way is a great option for a well-curated trip you will surely remember.
Tip 1: Get your finances in order
Having a trusty card such as a BDO Debit Card with you is important to enjoying your Korean getaway to the fullest. Through safe and seamless transactions it lets you shop better and dine better on your trip. Having one will make your trip as easy as smiling to “Kimchi!” Plus, you won’t have to worry about bringing a bulk of cash and having it converted to the local currency. Make sure to have one so you can travel better.
Tip 2: Book your airline tickets and accommodations ahead
Plan your trip way ahead of time and book your flights early to get low ticket fares. Make sure you also have a comfy place to stay during your trip. To get great deals on both, keep an eye out for travel sales and time-limited flash deals. One travel sale you can take advantage of is The Great BDO Travel Sale happening throughout January with stops in Manila, Davao, and Cebu, as well as online at www.travel.bdo.com.ph for exclusive discounts.
Choosing long-term stays on Airbnb can also get you a big chunk off the original booking prices! Preparing ahead can reward you big time and spare you from stress, especially if you want to stay in popular districts such as Myeongdong or Hongdae.
Tip 3: Consider your luggage
In terms of luggage, consider the season you’re flying in – summer can guarantee lightweight packing, while autumn and spring will require you to bring light cover ups and sweaters for layering. Winter is for coats and puffer jackets, so get a bigger baggage allowance if you plan to bring all those thick knits and cozy pieces! Or if you have the budget, just bring luggage and buy your winter wear when you arrive. The underground shopping area in Myeongdong and thrift stores in Dongdaemun offer good quality winter clothing that won’t hurt your wallet!
Tip 4: Plan your food tour
From tteokbboki to bibimbap, enjoy a one-of-a-kind gastronomic experience sampling various street foods at affordable prices! Go cafe-hopping at Yeonnamdong, enjoy cheap eats at Hongdae and Ewha, head to Incheon for jjajangmyeon, and experience Korea’s unique food delivery service when you order chicken and beer by the Han River. The options are endless!
Tip 5: Set fangirling/ fanboying activities
You’re in South Korea. This is it! If you’re a K-Pop fan who wants to see your favorite idols live in Korea, you can bookmark go-to ticketing websites and register ahead of the open-ticket date. Fulfill your fangirl or fanboy dreams further by agency-hopping or by visiting your bias’ favorite restaurants and hangout spots.
Tip 6: Map out filming locations and go on a K-drama pilgrimage
If you’re a K-Drama fan, curate a specially-themed escapade by visiting filming locations. For starters, there’s Gwanghwamun Square, where the iconic The King: Eternal Monarch meeting scene was shot; Yeouido Han River where scenes from Squid Game and My Love from Another Star was filmed; COEX Starfield Library for Record of Youth fans; and Everland if you want to recreate that romantic scene in What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim .
You can search about these locations on various websites such as Korean Dramaland (KDL), with over 3,000 locations on their archive, and VISITKOREA with published K-Drama guides that you can just bookmark and follow.
Tip 7: Participate in a culture tour
If you’re in love with Korean culture and would like to learn more about South Korea’s rich history, join a culture tour. Sightsee places such as Bukchon Hanok Village where you can take pictures of traditional hanok houses; Gyeongbokgung Palace where you can experience wearing a hanbok while walking the palace grounds; and Insadong for some traditional tea at Dawon Traditional Tea House and Shin Old Teahouse.
Tip 8: Stock up on skincare products
Since it’s Korea, go crazy choosing among their wide selection of beauty goodies available! Various skin care products can be found almost everywhere, and buy-1-get-1 deals (and more!) are also rampant in Hongdae and Ewha Women’s University that you can effortlessly pay for using your debit or credit card! A premium K-Beauty experience awaits as well when you visit salons, such as Jenny House or Woosun, and get luxury facials at Sulwhasoo Spa Gangnam.
Tip 9: Make sure you have BDO Debit Card
Are you ready for the trip of your Hallyu dreams? Before you fly out, don’t forget your BDO Debit Card so you can go cashless! It’s most convenient for shopping, food trips, dining out, paying for your accommodations, booking tickets to concerts, movies, and fan-meets, and more! And if you still need cash, you can use it to make ATM withdrawals while abroad.
Plus, your BDO Debit Card gives you access to exclusive travel deals with airlines and travel agencies at the Great BDO Travel Sale! Don’t miss your chance to get exclusive exclusive fares online at www.travel.bdo.com.ph or onsite at:

Vote to Resume U.S. Military Aid Is Met With Relief in Ukraine
Much-needed munitions like artillery shells could start arriving relatively quickly, but experts say it could take weeks before U.S. assistance has a direct impact on the war.

By Marc Santora
Reporting from Kyiv, Ukraine
The Ukrainian lieutenant was at a firing position on the eastern front, commanding an artillery unit relying on American-provided M777 howitzers and other big guns, as U.S. lawmakers gathered in Washington to decide if his cannons would be forced to go silent for lack of ammunition.
But when the lieutenant returned to his base on Saturday night, he got the news that he and millions of Ukrainians had been praying to hear.
“I had just entered the building after a shift change when the guys informed me that the aid package for Ukraine had finally been approved by Congress,” said the lieutenant, who is identified only by his first name, Oleksandr, in line with military protocol. “We hope this aid package will reach us as soon as possible.”
The decision by American lawmakers to resume military assistance after months of costly delay was greeted with a collective sigh of relief and an outpouring of gratitude across a battered and bloodied Ukraine. It may have been late in coming, soldiers and civilians said, but American support meant more than bullets and bombs.
It offered something equally important: hope.
Immediately after the vote passed in Congress, Ukrainian citizens took to social media to offer thanks and express joy, posting American flag memes blending Ukrainian imagery with American symbols like the Statue of Liberty.
“I have tears in my eyes,” Anton Gerashchenko, the founder of the Ukrainian Institute for the Future, a research group, said in a message. “So much suffering, so much pain. So many lost friends and wonderful people in these horrible years of war. Now there is hope to save more lives of those who are still alive.”
The $60 billion military assistance package approved by the House is expected to be voted on by the Senate and signed by President Biden as early as Tuesday. The Pentagon has said it could resume sending weapons to Ukraine within days through a well-established logistics network.
While the Pentagon has not released details of what will be included in the first assistance package, the United States has provided the bulk of the ammunition most desperately needed by Ukrainian forces, including shells for artillery and precision rockets for longer-distance strikes.
Ukrainian officials have said it will also probably help replenish Ukraine’s short- and medium-range air defense systems, including missiles capable of intercepting Russian ballistic missiles that are being used to devastating effect on Ukraine’s energy grid.
Some items, like artillery shells, could start arriving relatively quickly, but both Ukrainian commanders and military analysts cautioned that it would take weeks before the U.S. assistance started to have a direct impact on the fight.
“The frontline situation will therefore likely continue to deteriorate in that time, particularly if Russian forces increase their attacks to take advantage of the limited window before the arrival of new U.S. aid,” analysts at the Institute for the Study of War, a Washington-based research group, wrote over the weekend .
Lieutenant Oleksandr said the Russians had appeared determined recently to throw as many resources into the battle as quickly as possible to take advantage of Ukraine’s depleted arsenal.
“The Russians spare nothing, neither air bombs nor artillery,” he said. “They can fire up to two or three Lancets for every one of our cannons in a day, where one Lancet costs more than the cannon itself,” he said, referring to one of Russia’s most sophisticated drones.
Franz-Stefan Gady, a consulting senior fellow at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, said that even with U.S. assistance, the air defense situation “will remain challenging for many months to come.” Renewed U.S. assistance, however, will allow European nations to ramp up their own arms production, he said.
Mick Ryan, a retired Australian Army major general who is a fellow at the Lowy Institute, a Sydney-based research group, wrote that replenishing air defenses and artillery would be the top priorities for Ukraine but that the bill allowed for other critical and less visible support. That includes “spare parts for US tanks and armored vehicles, drones, mortars, radios, engineering equipment and the panoply of equipment required on the modern battlefield,” he wrote on his Substack page .
Since American aid stopped flowing into Ukraine this year, Russia has been able to seize more than 360 square kilometers, or about 139 square miles, of land , according to the Institute for the Study of War.
As Ukraine was forced to shift to defense, the Russian arsenal has been bolstered by the delivery of missiles and drones from Iran and North Korea , while support from China has helped Moscow mitigate the impact of sanctions, helping the Kremlin to convert its economy to a wartime footing.
Russia has also managed to replace the more than 315,000 troops who have been killed or wounded in battle, according to American officials.
The Russian Army is now 15 percent larger than it was when it invaded Ukraine, Gen. Christopher Cavoli, the head of U.S. European Command, said in testimony to Congress before Saturday’s vote.
Ukrainian officials have warned that Russia is setting the stage for a larger offensive in the late spring or early summer.
While the Russians have so far failed to exploit Ukraine’s deficit in both men and arms to achieve a major breakthrough, military analysts warned they may still be able to make significant advances in the coming weeks.
Russian forces continue to advance west of the city of Avdiivka, around Lieutenant Oleksandr’s firing position on Saturday. They are also pounding the strategically important hilltop fortress of Chasiv Yar in eastern Ukraine.
If the Kremlin’s forces can seize the important high ground in the area, an agglomeration of the largest cities in the Donbas region still under Ukrainian control would be threatened.
At the same time, Russia continued to hit towns and cities across the country with long-range drone and missile strikes, leveling houses, port infrastructure and energy facilities.
Ukraine’s allies have said they are racing to find more sophisticated air defense systems like the American-made Patriots located around Europe to help Kyiv, but Ukrainians expect Moscow to try to do as much damage as it can before those systems arrive.
As they have done day after day for more than two years, rescue workers from Odesa on the Black Sea to Sumy near Ukraine’s northern border with Russia raced to pull people from the rubble of bombed-out buildings as the House voted on Saturday.
“But this day is still a little different,” President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his Saturday night address to the nation. “Today, we received the long-awaited decision: the American support package we’ve been fighting for so hard.”
Mr. Zelensky said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that the aid “will sustain Ukraine and sends a powerful signal.” He added that it meant that Ukraine will not become “a second Afghanistan.”
The Kremlin, which U.S. lawmakers have said is orchestrating a sophisticated campaign to shape American public opinion and undermine support for Ukraine, reacted with a mix of bluster and fury.
The Kremlin’s spokesman, Dmitri S. Peskov, said the military assistance would only contribute to the “ruin” of Ukraine. If provisions in the legislation that allow the United States to seize billions in frozen Russian central bank assets to pay for the rebuilding of Ukraine are used, he warned, America “will have to answer for it.”
Lt. Col. Oleksii Khilchenko, a 30-year-old Ukrainian brigade commander fighting around Robotyne on the southern front, said the new weapons would allow Ukrainians to fight “even more fiercely and with all their courage.”
“This support from American society will save the lives of our soldiers and bolster them across the entire front line,” he said. “We will use this assistance to strengthen our military and bring an end to this war — a war that Russia must lose.”
The vote in the House also lifted the spirits of the army of volunteers who have helped sustain Ukrainian soldiers throughout the war.
“A wonderful day today,” said Olena Detsel, founder of the volunteer organization Three in a Canoe , which raises money for urgent needs for soldiers.
“The news of financial support from the U.S.A. is like a breath of fresh air,” she said in a text message. “It brings the understanding that we are not alone in this fight.”
Liubov Sholudko and Gerry Mullany contributed reporting.

Our Coverage of the War in Ukraine
News and Analysis
For residents of Ukraine’s second-largest city, daily Russian attacks have escalated fears but have not brought life to a standstill. Here’s how a battered city carries on.
The authorities in Poland and Germany have arrested at least five of their citizens and accused them of spying for Russia or of offering to help Moscow commit violence on European soil, including a “possible attack” on the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
The drone combat in Ukraine that is transforming modern warfare has begun taking a deadly toll on one of the most powerful symbols of American military might — the tank — and threatening to rewrite how it will be used in future conflicts.
Resuming U.S. Military Aid: Weapons from the support package, considered “a lifeline” for Ukraine’s military , could be arriving on the battlefield within days . But experts say it could take weeks before there is a direct impact on the war . What would $60 billion buy ?
World Military Spending: The world spent more on military costs and weapons in 2023 than it had in 35 years, driven in part by the war in Ukraine and the threat of an expanded Russian invasion, according to an independent analysis.
New American Technology: Project Maven was meant to revolutionize modern warfare. But the conflict in Ukraine has underscored how difficult it is to get 21st-century data into 19th-century trenches.
