Paul McCartney Announces 2013 World Tour
Paul McCartney announced the first two dates of what is expected to be a significant touring schedule in 2013. The singer revealed plans for the Out There World Tour on his website this morning (March 20). His goal is to play cities and venues he and his band have never been.
Response to the news was immediate. Within hours of the news, parties in Argentina were staged with revelers holding "Get Back to Argentina Paul" signs and flying blue and white balloons. Tickets for two stops -- a June 22 show in Warsaw, Pol. and a June 27 date in Vienna, Aus. -- go on sale this Friday (March 22). It will mark McCartney's first show in Poland, and fourth trip to Vienna. More dates are to be announced in the coming weeks.
According to a statement at his website, McCartney will play songs from his entire career, including his solo material, songs from the Beatles and hits as a member of Wings. 2013 could also mean new music for the legend. He's reported to be working on a new studio album, the follow-up to 'Kisses on the Bottom' from 2012.

Paul McCartney Returns to New York on All-New 2013 "Out There" Tour
BROOKLYN (April 18, 2013) -- Paul McCartney has confirmed that his all-new 2013 "Out There" tour will include two shows at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on June 8 and 10. The first-time engagement for Paul at the venue is his first New York appearance since last year's historic 12-12-12 benefit and continues a tradition of legendary NYC area McCartney concerts including 2011's Yankee Stadium doubleheader, 2009's inaugural Citi Field three-play, and stretching all the way back to The Beatles' 1965 musical christening of Shea Stadium. As previously announced, the tour will also be making stops May 18 and 19 in Orlando, FL at Amway Center, May 22 and 23 in Austin, TX at the Frank Erwin Center, May 26 in Memphis, TN at FedEx Forum, May 29 and 30 in Tulsa OK at the BOK Center, July 9 in Boston, MA at Fenway Park, July 12 in Washington DC at Nationals Ballpark, July 14 in Indianapolis IN at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, July 16 in Milwaukee WI at Miller Park and July 19 in Seattle, WA at Safeco Field. Tickets to the newly announced shows will be on sale beginning Monday, April 22 at 10 a.m. local time at Ticketmaster.com . American Express® Cardmembers can purchase tickets before the general public beginning Friday, April 19 at 10 a.m. and concluding Sunday, April 21 at 10 p.m. All times are local. Paul McCartney's "Out There" tour will feature brand new, never before seen production and, as ever, hours of material from the most beloved catalog in popular music, with Paul performing songs spanning his entire career--as a solo artist, member of Wings, and, of course, The Beatles. The McCartney live experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity. For approximately three hours, many of the greatest moments of the last 50 years of musical history--not to mention the soundtracks of entire lives--are magically brought to life as only Paul can do. Last year marked 40 years since Paul's premiere tour as a solo artist and these past four decades have seen him play in a staggeringly impressive range of venues and locations, including outside the Coliseum in Rome, in Moscow's Red Square, at the White House, a free show in Mexico to over 400,000 people and even a performance beamed into outer space! Having played with his peerless band of Paul 'Wix' Wickens (keyboards), Rusty Anderson (guitar), Abe Laboriel Jr. (drums) and Brian Ray (bass/guitar) for over ten years, Paul never disappoints--as reviews of his last two-night stand in NYC--2011's Yankee Stadium shows--will attest: "Mr. McCartney is not saying goodbye but touring stadiums and playing marathon concerts. Friday's set ran two-and-a-half hours, with Mr. McCartney constantly onstage, and it had 35 songs, not counting a few additional excerpts. His concerts now are a gentle reminder of his survival and vitality... He perseveres, and entertains, by directly reconnecting to his songs across the decades and still having fun."--THE NEW YORK TIMES
"McCartney's continued ability to perform such key material so gracefully makes his shows more than just worthy entertainment. They're a kind of public service."--THE NEW YORK DAILY NEWS
"The 2½-hour, 35-song set featured five decades worth of hits without a dud in the batch"--THE NEW YORK POST
"Paul McCartney is many things, a gifted musician, singer and band leader. Mostly, he is an inspiration. Last night at Yankee Stadium, McCartney played and played, gave and gave, for well over two hours. He never stopped singing, playing, performing and smiling. He loves pleasing crowds."--THE WALL STREET JOURNAL
"Dude is almost twice my age, and that f***er can belt, and in the physical-grace department, my blind guess of his age might have been more like a very agile 50. I could barely stand in front of my center field seat, which proved necessary pretty much the entire time... Changed my life"--THE VILLAGE VOICE
Paul is throwing himself into 2013 with full force following yet another landmark year in 2012, which saw him conclude his record-breaking "On The Run" tour, release his Grammy-winning Kisses On The Bottom album, accept a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, play at both the Diamond Jubilee and Olympics Opening Ceremony, be named MusiCares Person of the Year, and headline 12-12-12 The Concert For Sandy Relief--to highlight just a few memorable moments. With the "Out There'" tour and a new studio album in the works, it looks like 2013 will show no signs of Paul slowing down. The "Out There" tour will see Paul and his band travel the world throughout the year, visiting both places of historical significance to Paul and new spots for the very first time. Further announcements and dates will be added in the coming weeks. Stay tuned to www.paulmccartney.com for official news and updates.

John Lennon and Paul McCartney’s sons team up for new single
James McCartney’s acoustic ballad Primrose Hill, co-written with Sean Ono Lennon, was drawn from childhood vision in Scotland
The most famous songwriting credit in history, Lennon-McCartney, has been resurrected – though for a song written by the Beatles’ sons.
Primrose Hill, a single by Paul McCartney’s son James, has been co-written with Sean Ono Lennon: an acoustic ballad with a shuffling backbeat and ruminative guitar soloing.
McCartney explained the song in an Instagram post: “I had a vision as a child in Scotland, on what was a lovely summers day. Letting go, I saw my true love and saviour in my mind’s eye. Primrose Hill is about getting the ball rolling with me & finding this person.”
His father Paul promoted it on social media, sending “lots of love” to Ono Lennon.
McCartney, born to Paul and Linda McCartney in 1977, released two solo albums in 2013 and 2016, and said he was now “really getting the ball rolling and I am so excited to continue to share music with you”. Primrose Hill follows the release of a solo single earlier this year, Beautiful. He has previously co-written songs with his father and played with him on albums such as 1997’s acclaimed Flaming Pie.
“It’s hard to live up to the Beatles,” he said in a 2013 interview with the Daily Mail. “When Wings toured they got slated. Even Dad found it hard living up to the Beatles. I started out playing under an alias because I wanted to start quietly. I had to serve my time as a musician and wait until I had a good body of songs and for a time when both myself and my music were ready. I don’t want to sit around. I want to earn my own living.”
Ono Lennon has also carved out his own musical career since early appearances on albums by his mother Yoko Ono. He joined the alt-rock band Cibo Matto, who then backed him – along with Ringo Starr’s son Zak Starkey – for his debut album Into the Sun in 1998. Lennon went on to collaborate with artists as varied as Albert Hammond Jr, Soulfly, Mark Ronson and Jurassic 5, and has released further solo work alongside film scoring.
Activity remains lively around the Beatles, meanwhile. Following the release of what was billed as the final new Beatles song, Now & Then – which topped the UK charts in November – and the three-part Peter Jackson-directed documentary Get Back, a reissue of the 1970 film Let It Be has been announced to air on Disney+ in May. Directed by Michael Lindsay Hogg, it charted the making of the album of the same name, and leftover footage from the shoot formed Jackson’s documentary series.
“I’m absolutely thrilled that … Let It Be has been restored and is finally being rereleased after being unavailable for decades,” Jackson said in a statement. “I’ve always thought that Let It Be is needed to complete the Get Back story.”
Fans can also get their hands on a unique piece of McCartney memorabilia – the open-top bus that he and Wings travelled in for their 1972 European tour.
“If we’re gonna be in Europe in the summer going to places like the south of France, it’s just silly to be in some little box all day gasping for air,” McCartney reasoned at the time. “So we came up with this idea to have an open deck, upper deck kind of thing. We’ve got some mattresses up there so we can just cruise along, fantastic, it’s great, just lie around and get the sun.”
Fully restored and in working order, the double-decker in Yellow Submarine-style livery is expected to sell for up to £200,000 at auction on 22 April.

Paul McCartney's Iconic Tour Bus To Go Up For Auction, Expected To Sell For Over $200,000
- Paul McCartney is auctioning off his iconic Wings tour bus from 1972, expected to sell for over $200k.
- The tour bus was a family affair, with Paul, Linda, and their three kids traveling together during the tour.
- Paul McCartney's band Wings was a pivotal moment in his career post-The Beatles, but his family was always his priority.
A lucky fan might get the chance to buy a piece of music history. Paul McCartney has decided to put one of his tour buses up for auction, and it's a very special one. While obviously his most famous band is The Beatles , just years after they broke up, he and Linda McCartney put together another hugely successful group: Paul McCartney & Wings . This band was one of the most important groups of the '70s and meant a lot to his solo career.
Paul McCartney Reveals How He Almost Changed The Words One Of 'The Beatles' Most Iconic Song
Now, he's parting ways with the psychedelic tour bus that took his band and his family all over Europe during their first big tour in 1972. The auction of the iconic bus is expected to sell for a staggering amount of money. The auction starts in just five days.
Paul McCartney's Iconic Wings Tour Bus Expected To Sell For Over $200 Thousand
From April 22 to 29, the double-decker tour bus that took Paul McCartney's band Wings all over Europe in 1972 will be up for auction and is expected to reach between £150,000 and £200,000 , with the higher end being almost $250 thousand .
The bus has been kept in almost perfect period condition, and pre-bids are already open for eager fans who want to get ahead. The double-decker has been restored, with the art on it, a clear homage to the iconic Yellow Submarine aesthetic, looking as impeccable as it did back in 1972 .
This tour was a very important one for Paul McCartney, as it was the first big tour of his new band after the painfully public breakup of The Beatles . The band had been working hard for a year prior, establishing themselves playing small shows at English universities, but this was the first time they would be playing big venues, something McCartney hadn't done since The Beatles stopped touring back in 1966.
He had put out a couple of solo albums before Wings , which he wrote with his wife Linda McCartney, and since he wanted her to play with him on Wings as well, he taught her to play piano and asked her to join his new band.
The McCartney Family Lived On That Bus During The Tour
A very well-known fact about Paul and Linda McCartney is that, during their marriage, they never spent a night apart from each other ( except when Paul was arrested in Japan, but that's another story ). The couple were very family-oriented, and while they loved making music together, their children always took priority.
So, in 1972, despite only going on tour for a month and a half, they made sure the tour bus was kid-friendly, as they took their three daughters, Heather, Mary, and Stella McCartney with them, something they repeated on every tour while the kids were little .
Paul McCartney's Son James Louis Is Also A Musician, But Has Different Views When It Comes To His Personal Life
"Our main reason was, we worried about leaving the kids at home and then getting a nanny or somebody ringing up saying 'oh they’ve gone into hospital' or 'they’re very ill', and we’d be far away in Australia or something," Paul McCartney explained.
Bringing them on tour didn't mean they were neglectful, though. "When we decided to bring them along we tried to be very careful about the sensible stuff like their education. We did things like going to their school and asking the teachers what the class are going to be doing while we’re away, and then we had a tutor that came with us - the kids hated him! They did not like being told in the afternoon that it was 'school time!'. They’d protest: 'No, we wanna go to the beach!'" the Beatle recalled amused .
Paul McCartney and his kids now look back to that time fondly and have no regrets about sharing touring as a family.

The most famous songwriting credit in history, Lennon-McCartney, has been resurrected – though for a song written by The Beatles ’ sons.
Primrose Hill, a single by Paul McCartney ’s son James, has been co-written with Sean Ono Lennon: an acoustic ballad with a shuffling backbeat and ruminative guitar soloing.

Listen to the song Paul McCartney and John Lennon’s sons released together
You might hear a hint of The Beatles in James McCartney and Sean Ono Lennon's new song, 'Primrose Hill.'

- April 17, 2024
The sons of two Beatles have “come together” to release a song.
Sean Ono Lennon, son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, and James McCartney, son of Linda and Paul McCartney , released their single, “Primrose Hill,” on April 12. The tune is named after a north London park with gorgeous views of the city.
In an Instagram post , McCartney intimated that the collaboration may be the first of many. “Today I am so very excited to share my latest song co-written by my good friend @sean_ono_lennon,” he wrote. “With the release of this song it feels like we’re really getting the ball rolling and I am so excited to continue to share music with you.”

What does Paul McCartney think about his son teaming up with Sean Ono Lennon? In a Facebook post , he urges fans to check out the new song and sends “lots of love to Sean Ono Lennon.”
Both sons are established musicians in their own right. Lennon has been a member of alt-rock bands like Cibo Matto, The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger and The Claypool Lennon Delirium. He has also worked as a film score composer.
James McCartney, an indie folk-rock singer-songwriter, has released a number of solo albums, including 2016’s “The Blackberry Train.”

“Primrose Hill” has a melodic folk-rock feel that nods to their dads without feeling too dated. Fans of Ed Sheeran or Joe Keery will definitely appreciate the acoustic guitars and soft vocals.
You can listen to “Primrose Hill” below:
In a post on Instagram a few weeks ago, James hinted at his inspiration for the song.
“I had a vision as a child in Scotland, on what was a lovely summers day,” he wrote. “Letting go, I saw my true love and saviour in my mind’s eye. ‘Primrose Hill’ is about getting the ball rolling with me & finding this person.”

John Lennon and Sir Paul McCartney’s sons just re-wrote history together
Share this with
John Lennon and Sir Paul McCartney ’s sons – James McCartney and Sean Ono Lennon – have teamed up for a new song , Primrose Hill.
Sir Paul and the late Linda McCartney’s son James, 46, and his ‘good friend’ Sean, 48 – the only son of Lennon and Yoko Ono – have co-written the track in what is the first Lennon-McCartney collaboration in over 50 years.
Taking to social media announcing the release of Primrose Hill alongside an eerily familiar picture of the pair, James wrote: ‘Primrose Hill is here! Today I am so very excited to share my latest song co-written by my good friend @sean_ono_lennon.
‘With the release of this song it feels like we’re really getting the ball rolling and I am so excited to continue to share music with you.’
The song’s cover is a cartoon verison of the iconic bench at the top of Primrose Hill in North London with its stunning view out to the city.
Released on Friday, the track’s melody is reminiscent of the pair’s fathers’ style with its effortless catchy chorus and the echo of a Lennon-like falsetto.
‘I had a vision as a child in Scotland, on what was a lovely summer’s day,’ James wrote in an April X post ahead of the song’s release.
‘Letting go, I saw my true love and saviour in my mind’s eye. Primrose Hill is about getting the ball rolling with me & finding this person.’
Sir Paul also took to social media to promote his son’s song, as he said: ‘My son James has a new song out called Primrose Hill – check it out! And lots of love to Sean Ono Lennon who co-wrote the song.’
James has been involved in his father’s solo projects in the past, working on Flaming Pie and Driving Rain.

In his own career, James previously released a four-track EP called Available Light in 2010, his debut album titled Me in 2013, and his latest work – The Blackberry Train – in 2016. Primrose Hill is his first release since then.
Meanwhile, Sean’s solo debut, Into the Sun, was released in 1998, while he also worked with Ono and formed a band, The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger.
He released Friendly Fire in October 2006 and went on tour with it.
In 2014, the Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger released their most successful album titled Midnight Sun, and Sean went on to tour with the likes of the Flaming Lips, Tame Impala, Beck, and Florence and the Machine.
Fans were loving Primrose Hill, as pilatesadventure_ness took to James’ Instagram announcement and wrote: ‘Beautiful. You can certainly hear the influence of Paul and John, but it’s also your own sound. Love it.’
‘Now this is fantastic. I bet John is smiling from ear to ear and so happy. Life truly does come full circle. God Bless,’ commented Karen Cunningham.
‘Never thought I see another Lennon and McCartney original 🔥’ raved gi1pp.
To go alongside the release of Primrose Hill, James is holding a contest asking couples to submit videos between 1 to 3 minutes long which capture the ‘essence of love’ while showing their favourite location.
The competition says videos should show couples engaging in activities while Primrose Hill plays as the background music.
Each submission will be judged on creativity, emotional impact, visual appeal, and alignment with the theme.
If they win, couples will have the opportunity to feature in the official music video for Primrose Hill, with additional prizes including signed albums, exclusive merchandise, and personalised messages.
The deadline is in two days time on April 19.
Lennon welcomed two children before he was shot in 1980 outside his residence in New York City.
Sean is Lennon’s only child with Yoko, now 91. Lennon also welcomed Julian Charles John Lennon, 61, with ex-wife Cynthia Lennon.
Sir Paul is dad to fashion designer Stella McCartney, 52, filmmaker Mary McCartney, 54, and artist Heather McCartney, 61, who – alongside James – he shares with his late wife Linda McCartney.
Later in life Sir Paul welcomed Beatrice McCartney, 20, with ex-wife Heather Mills.
