How to download courses in PGA Tour 2K21

Creating courses in PGA Tour 2K21 through Course Designer can be fun but time-consuming at the same time. But in case you don’t want to actually make your own courses, you can play on other custom created designs, ones that are made by the PGA Tour 2K community. But, you might be wondering how you can download these courses in PGA Tour 2K21? Let’s go over what you have to do.

To download a course to use in PGA Tour 2K21, first select the Change Course option, which can be found on the left-hand side of the screen when attempting to set up a Private Match, or a local offline game. Once you do this, scroll over to the bottom of the course selection screen, and then either press Search (to search for a specific course) or the Trending tab and see which courses are getting the most usage.

After taking one of the steps, scroll through the courses you see in the menu. If you find one you want to use, just select it using A (for Xbox) or X (for PlayStation) and start up the round.

If you want to use one of the courses you have found in the Select a Course screen again, go back to the course selection screen, but choose Continue Playing instead of Trending or Search.

TPC Sawgrass

One of the most well-known PGA Tour 2K21 courses, Sawgrass is a very enjoyable 7,285-yard, par-72 home to the Players Championship. A verdant course across countryside, it features a bit of everything. On one hand, there's dangerous water, sand, and pine needle hazards; on the other, it has spacious fairways and greens. It's actually got some of the nicest in-between camera shots panning the landscape and the famous clubhouse too. The highlight is its island-green par-3 17th, which can make or break your round right at the end of it.

Riviera Country Club

This is a familiar real-life course that has featured in many of the previous iterations of top golf games. It's a lush parkland affair that's not too challenging so can be a great confidence booster. Riviera is a 71-par course, stretching 7,325 yards. A highlight is the 18th that steps up onto a long and straight fairway, funneling you into a crowd-packed green for the round’s finale.

Pearl Mountain Golf Club

As scenic PGA Tour 2K21 courses go, this is right up there. This fictional creation is set in a gorgeous Swiss pine forest-esque landscape with mountains and rocky waterfalls making for excellent views. The greens can be very speedy by default, but there's plenty of interest to make your trip around the 6,924-yard par 72 course a visually beautiful one. The sub-300 yard par-4 16th is a particular highlight, played over a rapid and rocky stream.

TPC Scottsdale

Another well-known real-world course, TPC Scottsdale is home to the brilliantly-titled Waste Management Phoenix Open. The hazard follows you around most of the holes on the course, posing a constant threat. The main highlight is the infamous 16th, which is a par-3 completely encased by viewing stands and crowds, and despite being only 160-odd yards, can make or break the round given the desert waste bunkers presence, and four green-side bunkers. You have to be accurate here.

Emerald Lake GC

The autumnal-looking fictional landscape of Emerald Lake GC is a pleasure to play through. With with the enormous Emerald Lake in the background - and occasional windmill and waterfall in the foreground - it's like whacking your way through an enormous Japanese garden. Playing at 7,325 yards long, and at a par-73, it's not one of the easiest, but certainly one of the nicest. The par-5 10th hole is one to enjoy here with it being a testing, hazard-filled dog-leg that skirts the coast of the lake, but one that's immensely satisfying to navigate successfully.

The House on the Cliff

As alluded to by the name, this is on a cliff-side coast landscape and a real treat for the eyes. Pine forests surround you as you make your way through the 7,046-yard par-72 course where the fairways are fair but can be tough - you want to avoid the rough at all costs. This fictional course opens with a bang that tests your risk-reward resolve: a beautiful but dangerous 570-odd yard par-5 that dog-legs to the right with fairway bunkers, heavy rough, and a two-part fairway thrown into the mix while you approach the pin downhill.

TPC Twin Cities

This is a real-world course designed by Arnold Palmer, and it's a beauty in its PGA Tour 2K21 course form too, forming a 7,424-yard par-72 parkland countryside course. It's beautiful but also quietly deadly, with plenty of hazards close to target landing areas that can easily ruin your round. The 2nd and 3rd holes going across and alongside the watercourses are excellent, and balance the beauty and risk of great golf holes well.

Copper Dunes

This is a really lovely fictional course that looks like it could be placed straight into a Western American landscape. Set among a forest, it has tall pine trees underplanted with mountainous vegetation that line the way of each hole giving it an authentic landscape feel, while a vast waste bunker is draped over almost the whole course. The 1st hole really sets the tone: the vistas, landscape features, and weaving fairways and hazards galore make for a great start. Elsewhere, the 10th tee provides a perfect-picture landscape view.

The Links at Royal Atlantic

This is a really great fictional course and a clear nod to British links courses, successfully bringing that feel to life with hole after hole of brilliant British-like coastal golf. Built across undulating fairways and landscape, you play right alongside the coast, with deep bunkers and plenty of thick Gorse planting to cause you problems along the way. The course's first hole up the coast – across wildly up-and-down fairways and toward a green-side lighthouse – is a lovely start, while the super-wide 18th toward an isolated coast-side green is equally memorable.

The Jumeriah Club

This is a desert course, much like those in Dubai in real-life. It does a great job of recreating the experience across its 7,377 yards, creating an enticing par-72 challenge. Palm trees, desert sand waste bunkers, and long serpentine bunkers litter the course which looks irresistibly green and lush despite being in the desert, with a Dubai-like cityscape completing the picturesque image on almost every hole. The par-3 2nd hole playing over water and tropical planting, between tall palm trees, and toward the cityscape is a highlight.

PGA Tour 2K21: How To Design A Course

PGA Tour 2K21 allows golf-enthusiast gamers to create their own uniquely designed courses. Here's how to design the perfect course.

One of the best features in PGA Tour 2K21 is the course designer, and it is one of the main reasons for the game's popularity . Players are able to start from scratch and build their own course from the ground up. Thankfully, there are plenty of templates and shortcuts for players to take advantage of.

In the beginning, the creator can be intimidating to pick up as a new player. However, with a few simple tips, anyone can master course creation in  PGA 2K . This guide will help beginners through the initial steps of creating a course. It will also point out a few tips that will help gamers as they progress to more  complex, challenging builds .

First Steps

Players can find the  designer tab located on the far right side on the menu . Creators will want to click on new course to start with a blank slate. Because of the way the designer is set up, it will auto generate a course as soon as players reach the creator menu. Unfortunately, these auto-created courses are generally really badly designed.

There are a total of eleven themes to choose from in the designer, and each presents unique features for creators to use. Unlike TGC 19 , people can use any feature from any theme in their design . Being able to mix all of these features provides a lot more room for creativity than in TGC .

Terrain Sliders

Water level is not very important, so players can choose to make it high or low. Even with a low water level, players can still add water features in the designer. Meanwhile, the hills slider will change the topography . The higher players put this setting, the more hills will appear at first.

Depending on the desired design, adding more trees can save time in the end. Similarly, gamers can set plants, grass, and rocks higher if they do not want to add all the features themselves. Still, it does help to have less clutter when designing.

Setting the right layout is probably the most important thing when preparing to create a course. Creators should set everything in this menu to zero . When creating a course, people will want to have free reign to put all of the important features of a hole where they want. After these are all changed, press continue to load in the generated plot.

Final Setting Changes

There are a couple more settings that players will want to change before they get started. When creating fairways and greens, the game will automatically include rough too. To eliminate this, players can change the rough by going to settings, finding the rough settings, and moving the rough width slider to zero. Save, and the design process can truly begin.

General Design Tips

After generating the the random plot, designers can get started on their own personal course. Those that do not like the terrain can auto-generate the course once more. Likewise, all of the initial sliders can be changed under the terrain tab in the creator.

Spot Where To Build Hole 1

The first step in course design is finding the right location to begin building out the course. Using the camera and panning out can help when looking for the perfect place to start. This is one of the best aspects of design, and it allows gamers to be creative and visualize what the final product will look like.

Create The First Hole

Once they've scouted the location, designers will want to create their first hole using the instructions below:

• Go to Edit --> Create Hole
• Select where the tee box will go
• Select the tee off landing zone
• Select the Green Location

The landing zone should be somewhere between 250-300 yards for a par 4 or 5 . Par 3's will only need one waypoint marked for the green. At this point, all there will be on the course is a tee box and bare pin.

Creating A Green

In order to lay down a fresh green, gamers will need to go back to the edit menu, choose create/add, and then create surfaces. There, a green can be selected. Brushing is the easiest way to create a green . It allows creators to select pre-made shapes and drop them onto the course. Splining allows people to draw their own completely custom shape for the green. Once the green is on the course, players can flatten or raise it in the sculpting menu.

Creating A Fairway

Just like with the green, designers can either Brush or Spline the fairway onto the course. Depending on the settings, the fairway may be quite bumpy. To smooth it out, players will want to sculpt the land to make it level. Sloping fairways are also a common choice , as they provide even more of a challenge for golfers.

Once the fairway is in place, all of the other small details of the course can be addressed. Bunkers and water hazards can be added to make the hole more difficult. Trees, bushes, and shrubs can be included to change the aesthetic. Everything else is up to the creator, as the potential for a new course  is boundless.

5 Mini-Golf Courses to Play in PGA Tour 2K21

Without question, there’s no shortage of courses to peruse and play in PGA Tour 2K21 . Between the handful of official real-life courses that have been faithfully recreated in the game by developers, and the thousands upon thousands that users have designed on their own, the available options are staggering. Whether real or fictional , most of these courses are the kind of lengthy challenges that, outside of a video game, would greatly benefit from a golf cart so you can traverse from one shot and hole to another. Thankfully, there are some designers who have decided instead to focus on bringing to PGA Tour 2K21 a mini-golf experience.

Even though PGA Tour 2K21 doesn’t have any official mini-golf courses, and its course designer doesn’t really include any elements that have been specifically made to be incorporated into mini-golf courses, that hasn’t stopped users from getting creative about how to use items (and creatures) to build some fun layouts. You won’t find any of the typical windmills or holes where you have to hit the ball through an opening in some animal sculpture’s mouth, but the best designs get innovative about how to use things like doors, ramps, and walls to generate some of the same kind of wacky fun that you would expect from putt-putt.

By forcing you to worry about adding the right amount of strength on a putt to generate the proper angle from a ricochet against a wall or how to play an extreme slope near the hole, these courses almost turn PGA Tour 2K21 into a whole different game that requires a separate set of skills to master.

Naturally, not all mini-golf courses are created equal. Some take the wackiness a little too far and have holes that become frustrating and almost unplayable. Others might have the opposite problem and skimp on the obstacles and whimsy as they risk becoming too much like a glorified practice putting green. The cream of the crop find a way to strike the right balance between these two extremes by making a course that’s fair with a dash of the fantastical.

Here’s a list of some of those that expertly walk that line and elevate the careful arrangement of obstacles to an art form. For each of these, I’ll outline the overall aesthetic, highlight some of the standout details, and then choose my own favorite hole from the course.

Shipwrecked Mini Golf!

Overall Aesthetic: Perhaps the most popular mini-golf course in PGA Tour 2K21 , Shipwrecked Mini Golf! earns its exclamation mark by showcasing all sorts of lush vegetation, jagged cliffs, and picturesque vistas throughout its tropical locale.

Distinguishing Features: There’s a reason why people play this course so often and that’s mainly because it’s simple and straightforward in the layout of its holes while providing plenty of eye candy in its details. It’s appreciated that most of the holes are fairly hard to mess up for even the most amateur players too thanks to the way the slopes so often guide the ball in such a way that it’s almost preordained to end up somewhere close to the pin. The obstacles though are situated in such a way that they inject a healthy dose of unpredictability to the mix, particularly on a hole where your shot slides down a steep incline only to have to negotiate a group of pyramids prepared to send your ball any which way. Also, am I crazy or is the car embedded in the scaffolding on hole 13 a clear reference to Happy Gilmore ?

Best Hole: Hole 5 gives you the opportunity to watch your ball take a long journey while careening down two different bridges, including a ride down one of two large wooden ones built under a waterfall in a moment that’s bound to be a highlight of every round you play on this course.

Aceholes Mini Golf 2K21

Overall Aesthetic: Heavy on brick, with lots of low walls and snaking greens that read like puzzles in need of solving.

Distinguishing Features: The course takes full advantage of the fact that balls in the game can actually travel through doors by having several holes that require you to use your imagination a little as you send a ball through a structure as if it actually had an opening instead of a closed door. There are plenty of extreme slopes that need to be navigated with caution because too little force will see your ball come right back down the hill at you while too much force will see your ball travel to an unfortunate part of the green far from the hole. Since the majority of obstacles like fountains and columns are made of rock, it’s fitting to find one hole that requires you to navigate a whole field of stones surrounding the hole.

Best Hole: Hole 9 is simple but effective in both its conception and execution, challenging you with a series of rings and stone bridges that will punish you should your initial shot veer too far one way or another, possibly requiring a couple of shots to get back on track.

Paradise Cove Mini Golf

Overall Aesthetic: True to its name, Paradise Cove Mini Golf has a tropical feel complete with lots of palm trees scattering the course and plenty of views of different kinds of boats sitting in the water near holes.

Distinguishing Features: For whatever reason, a lot of the tees on this course have been placed to have you begin holes by hitting a shot that goes under a fence. There’s more distance here than you would typically find on a mini-golf course, as you’re expected to cover a lot of ground with shots that either ride slopes or hug walls perfectly. If you fail to do this properly, you’ll find yourself with some awkward angles to the hole that could cause you to be reaching for a wedge of some sort when patience wears thin (especially when your ball lies in the rough). A number of the pins are situated in funnels, which makes it really easy to get close to the hole, or on platforms, which get old real quick when you keep going up one slope and then down again on the other side when it’s even slightly too strong. Similarly, I could do without the pins that are surrounded by three large rocks that are difficult to penetrate without taking a few cracks at it.

Best Hole: Holes 17 and 18 are both pretty enjoyable, as the former sees you sliding your ball through a narrow corridor with waterfalls raining down on it from both sides, and the latter has you attempting to send your ball down a steep cliff so that it can hit a jump and then land in a funnel-style green some yards from the jump.

Walton Mini Golf V

Overall Aesthetic: The fifth and latest in a series of mini-golf courses by the same designer, this sequel is as polished as you would expect by this point, with its holes lovingly crafted in the middle of the woods as a great way to escape from people and the everyday grind of life.

Distinguishing Features: The course establishes its tone right off the bat with a first hole that tasks you with putting your ball down a long slope to try to hit a small jump at the bottom that will propel your ball towards the hole. Many holes follow a similar formula, seemingly upping the ante with each new long and winding slope that will helpfully lead you without fail to the pin. This is thanks to a lot of perfectly placed large rocks along the fairways that ensure your ball gets to where it needs to go when it bounces off of them. It’s also appreciated to see signs at the tees pointing you in the direction of the green because, as with most mini-golf courses, it can be confusing at the outset to even know which way you need to hit the ball.

Best Hole: Perhaps taking inspiration from the Robert Frost poem “The Road Not Taken,” hole 12 has two fairways diverging in the woods instead of roads, allowing you to choose which of the slopes you would like to choose as your fate. Either way, you need to hope for a good carom off the rocks at the bottom that will leave you close to the pin for your second shot.

Wunderpar (Paris)

Overall Aesthetic: One of three different Wunderpar mini-golf courses alongside ones in Munich and Glasgow, this layout is ostensibly situated in Paris, and glimpses of the city can be seen by surveying the buildings that are visible outside the grounds of the course.

Distinguishing Features: A more challenging course in which the holes don’t always have helpful slopes to guide the ball directly to the pin, you will be required to actually use some putting skills here. This is complicated further by the fact that a lot of the holes are rather lengthy too, often forcing you to use full power on your putts without much margin for error to have them drift one way or another. There are also patches of brown fairway dotting the greens, which function for all intents and purposes as a hazard just like a bunker in causing the ball to get slowed down on the way to the pin. On certain holes, you’ll have to contend with crossing stone bridges that are not always placed at an ideal angle to get your ball to get to the other side.

Best Hole: Hole 10 presents you with an interesting dilemma where you can choose to either cross a bridge placed at one of those aforementioned awkward angles to make that difficult putt, or take the scenic route by playing a slope that will (hopefully) lead the ball somewhere closer to the hole.

How much do caddies make at the Masters? Here's how their pay at the PGA tournament works.

Being a caddie at the Masters is an entirely different experience than doing the job anywhere else — just ask Ken Martin.

"Caddies are treated really great at Augusta," said Martin, who caddied for Scottish golfer Sandy Lyle at the major tournament last year. "We had our own locker room. They feed us just wonderful food — the best food I've ever had really. But it's a long week. You have to be fit to get around that hilly course."

Some of the biggest names in professional golf, including Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, will converge on the famously hilly course Thursday to compete in the 2024 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia. Golfers are playing for a multimillion dollar cash prize and the chance to don the coveted green jacket for a year.

Much of this year's attention will be on the cash prize the winning golfer will receive at this year's tournament. The purse for the 2023 Masters totaled $18 million, which was $3 million more than the purse the year before — the largest year-over-year increase in tournament history. Of that total, 2023 winner Jon Rahm took home $3.24 million .

But players aren't the only ones in line for a big payout. The winner's caddie can easily go home with a six-figure paycheck after four days of work. But snagging the four-day gig is the culmination of years spent working one-on-one with the same professional golfer, Martin said. 

Caddies develop a strong friendship with a golfer long before it's time for an elite competition like the Masters, Martin said. Fans seated in the stands, as well those watching at home, can only see the caddie handing the player a club, but in reality, there's a constant back-and-forth communication taking place between golfer and caddie during commercial breaks and while the two are walking to the next hole, he explained. Martin, who played professionally from 1982 to 2015, now teaches the sport at Keiser University in Florida. 

Aside from carrying the heavy bag, the caddie also provides input on which club to use, as well as swing technique, Martin said. That's because most caddies working PGA Tour games  are former professional players with a wealth of knowledge on the game. 

But technique is only a small part of the exchange, he added. With a strong camaraderie forged over the years, it's very likely the two spend most of time chatting like old friends, he said. 

"It's boring to talk about only golf for four to six hours," Martin said. "You're out there for a long time together so the friendship part of it plays a larger role." 

How much do caddies make at the Masters?

Caddies like Martin earn a salary from two sources during the Masters. One part is a weekly wage between $2,000 and $4,000 depending on the caddie's experience, the Association of Professional Caddies and the Caddies Network told CBS MoneyWatch. The weekly wage helps caddies recoup financially because they're required to pay their own travel to Georgia, along with hotel and food while working the tournament. 

Caddies also get a percentage of whatever their player earns after the tournament ends. The caddie of the Master's winner will get 10% of the prize money. For context, Jon Rahm won the Masters' last year and got $3.24 million. 

The caddie for the runner up at the Masters will get 7% of that player's prize winnings; every caddie after that will get 5%. 

Caddies Network CEO John von Stade told CBS MoneyWatch there are rare occasions when a caddie has a private contract with the player, in which case that person's salary will not follow the traditional setup. 

Over the past five years, caddie have seen some positive changes. PGA Tour officials have increased caddies' weekly wages and players' prize money has also climbed — potentially giving caddies a chance to bring home six figures after a tournament.

"But what hasn't changed is, if your player doesn't make the cut, there is no other source of money other than the weekly fee," von Stade said.
