I stopped here on my way to a show in Greenville, OH, to get something to eat. Since they had Subway, I decided to get that, just like I get Subway in Richmond. I ordered a 6 in Rotisserie Chicken Sandwich, Baked Lays Chips, and a Coke Zero. It was delicious! The place was clean, and it was well stocked for travellers. My only complaint is that if you are a Subway Rewards member, they will not scan the QR code on your phone. They will give points if you are a Pilot Rewards member, but if you are a Subway Rewards member.

Great place to stop and refuel! Cashiers are really nice, people are friendly, bathrooms are clean, prices are reasonable. And if you're hungry they have a Subway inside.

Exterior

I for one will not be back to any pilot or flying j after seeing how they do their employees. James was fired then rehired amd fired again over hearsay. What alot of people don't know is he is in stage 3 liver failure, we would talk at great lengths when I would come in and fuel. He would bend over backwards for this place, came in early, worked over, would do what needed to be done. Even being sick he still made the customers happy by joking around with them. Now let's talk about the management here, particularly at the subway. You will keep her there Even though she yells and curses at her employees and customers!?!? Makes no sense to me.

Photo of Howard L.

First time coming here for gas on a Road trip to Columbus Ohio. Really convenient gas station, tons of gas pumps. As soon as you enter, you can smell the Subway Restaurant that's a part of this establishment and it smells good. Cashiers are friendly and helpful. Tons of great stuff to choose from for all your road needs ie; food, snacks, etc. Place is pretty pricey though

pilot travel center 617

Very small Pilot which makes it difficult for big rigs! Hope you like potholes! Other than that, very busy store. Clean, but very small restroom. The employees were very friendly, and the Subway was great except for the bread. She said it was fresh, but I beg to differ on that.

Good Sub

This particular Pilot was not up to the usual standards of most Pilot truck stops. During my trips back and forth between Denver and Columbus, I've really come to appreciate truck stops and have started relying on them for gas, snacks and fast food stops. Stopping at this location late in the day, I was disappointed to see that the credit card readers on the gas pumps were not working. If you wanted gas, you had to go inside FIRST with your credit card and then GO BACK INSIDE to get your receipt. Sorry, but this was not worth the effort since there was another truck stop practically across the street.

Small truck stop. Restrooms were clean but small and cramped for space. Decent selection of snacks and merchandise.

Photo of Tom B.

I like the fact that they have a subway sometimes I'm tired of truckstop food so that was nice. I just got coffee and gas the place was clean and so were the bathrooms I hung out in the trucker lounge and watched TV for a few minutes which is nice to be able to relax.

Pilot Travel Centers names Gary Hoogeveen as president of its energy business

Hoogeveen, who was CEO of Berkshire's Rocky Mountain Power, has held several management roles at Berkshire Hathaway Energy since 2000, the company said in a statement.

He will oversee Pilot's fuel supply chain, fuel procurement, logistics and transportation among other things.

Brad Jenkins, Pilot's previous president for the energy business and Bill Cashmareck, vice president of Petroleum Marketing and Business Development, left the company in January.

The company this year had replaced its chief executive and finance chief with longtime Berkshire executives and last year released about 15 employees, mostly tied to its crude oil trading operations.

Known for its Pilot Flying J truck stops, Knoxville, Tennessee-based Pilot had expanded a fuel purchase and trading business by recruiting experienced diesel, gasoline and crude oil traders.

Berkshire Hathaway this year completed acquisition of Pilot by buying the last 20% it did not previously own. Pilot operates more than 725 locations in the U.S. and Canada.

The Moscow City Tourism Committee conference for the key stakeholders from Indian MICE market

The moscow city tourism committee recognized the market demands and organized the shaping mice future conference for representatives of the indian mice industry, to introduce them to the tourism strengths of the russian capital..

The Moscow City Tourism Committee conference for the key stakeholders from Indian MICE market

The event (Moscow City Tourism Committee conference) took place on April 19 in Delhi and brought together over 100 participants from MICE agencies of both countries, corporate customers, representatives of the travel industry in Moscow, Aeroflot and the Indian branches of Sberbank.

Business tourism is one of the most promising directions for Moscow. In 2023, the capital was visited by 3.7 million business tourists – 7% more than in 2022. And India remains one of the leaders among visitors from non-CIS countries in terms of the number of business travelers.

“The Russian capital as a center of business tourism and corporate events is already an established and a strong brand in the international arena,” – commented Anastasia Popova, Deputy General Director for International and Industry Cooperation of Project Office for the Development of Tourism and Hospitality in Moscow. – Now our task is to demonstrate to our Indian partners all the possibilities of organizing high value MICE events in Moscow in combination with already proven tourist programs”.

At the Shaping MICE Future Conference industry experts from Russia and India pronounced statements and speeches on the future of MICE events in these two countries, a presentation of the MICE potential of Moscow was showcased, and an analytical report on the state of the outbound MICE market in India was presented to the visitors.

During the panel discussion participants assessed the current status and interaction peculiarities with the MICE market in India, and developed recommendations for the MICE industry in Moscow during the general brainstorming session. Representatives of the Indian MICE industry participated in B2B negotiations to find new cross-partners in the Moscow business environment and among representatives of the hospitality industry.

Alexander Rybas, The Trade representative of the Russian Federation in the Republic of India

Representatives of the MICE industry took part in the event from Moscow. Among them were DMC (Grand Rus, Academservice, Headed Goose, Satguru Travel, Isba Rus, Hug the Bear, Mellenium Group)) as well as representatives of other partners interested in the development of MICE cooperation between Russia and India: Global transfers provider i’way and hotels Edge Seligerskaya & Edge Vinogradovo Moscow by Rotana.

“In 2024, we have witnessed a significant surge (more than quadruple) in the demand for transfers by Russians visiting India, both for business and leisure purposes. Muscovites are leading the trend, with 80% of transfer bookings originating from the capital since the beginning of the year. Additionally, we observe a growing interest from Indian tourism agencies in exploring Russia, resulting in a substantial increase in our collaboration,” — commented Dmitriy Saraykin, co-founder of Global Transfer Provider i’way.

The Shaping MICE Future conference allowed the Moscow City Tourism Committee to form a pool of MICE industry representatives in Moscow to prioritize incoming requests for events, clarify India’s requirements for business and corporate events to build mutually effective work. Indian colleagues received up-to-date information about Moscow as a safe and attractive MICE destination, and were able to find potential partners among representatives of the MICE industry of the Russian capital and were able to present the MICE market in India.

“The event (Moscow City Tourism Committee conference) served as a remarkable platform for fostering meaningful dialogue and collaboration within the tourism industry. The event (Moscow City Tourism Committee conference) provided us with invaluable opportunities to engage with key stakeholders from the tourism department, as well as tour operators and service providers.

The insights gained during the event (Moscow City Tourism Committee conference) underscored the Moscow City Tourism Committee’s keen interest in the Indian outbound market, and we are optimistic about the promising prospects for Moscow as a destination, particularly in the post-pandemic landscape. We firmly believe that with concerted efforts and strategic initiatives, Moscow has the potential to emerge as a top-choice destination for Indian tourists,” — shared his impressions Mudit Mathur, director of Tours Delite India, representing Academ Service – Russia in India.

The conference also assessed the solutions to foreign demand for non-standard venues and elements in MICE programs, such as museums, parks, theaters and others. Holding MICE events at offbeat locations, such as the State Historical Museum, the Moscow Planetarium and Khudozhestvenny Cinema, is becoming popular. This helps to attract conference organizers and creates a unique experience for the participants. Working in this format, many visitors who came to Moscow on a business trip want to return with their families and spend time as regular tourists.

In 2023, 60 thousand guests from India visited Moscow – a quarter more than a year earlier. This year, according to the results of January and February India entered the top 5 countries in terms of the volume of e-visas issued. E-visa was one of the significant factors in the recovery of demand for hotel services and high utilization (76%) of Moscow hotels in 2023 and, as a consequence, the growth of international tourist traffic, the activation of business and classical tourists from India, China, Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and so on.

One of the significant initiatives launched to support the growth of the tourist flow is the Moscow MICE Ambassadors Program – an online certification program for representatives of the Indian market, which aims to create demand for Moscow as a MICE destination.

The Moscow City Tourism Committee and NIMA (Network of Indian MICE Agents) jointly launched the pilot project last year. The first 50 people from the Indian side who underwent the training and learned the intricacies of organizing business events in the Russian capital have received the relevant certificates. In 2024, the program will be made available to other MICE operators as well and is expected to expand to a total of 200 Moscow MICE Ambassadors by the end of the year .

How to get from Sheremetyevo Airport (SVO) to central Moscow

Sheremetyevo airport

Sheremetyevo airport

1. Aeroexpress

The fastest way to get from this airport to the center of Moscow is the Aeroexpress train, which has a station right in the airport building. With no traffic on the way, you’ll arrive at the Savelovskaya train station in 45 min and the Belorusskaya train station in 53 minutes, from both you can get on the metro, from which it’s convenient to go anywhere in the city.

The first train leaves Sheremetyevo at 4:45 a.m., and the last departs 12:42 a.m. Tickets on the Aeroexpress go for 500 rubles ($8) at the ticket office and 450 rubles ($7.2) online. You can buy tickets in advance via the website aeroexpress.ru , or download the app .

Bus is a cheaper way to reach Moscow, but you might end up in a traffic jam. Another disadvantage is that the bus only goes to a metro station at the end of the line, near the city limits, so you’ll need another 30 minutes to reach the city center.

To Khovrino metro station (Green line):

- 1195 Aeroexpress buss (departure each 15 min., tickets $150 and available to buy online here )

To Rechnoy Vokzal metro station (Green line):

- Bus No. 851 runs from 5:37 a.m. to 12:49 a.m. (and to 12:45 a.m. on weekends); 55 rubles ($0.8). Travel time about 50 minutes.

- The so-called marshrutka mini-bus No. 949 runs from 6:45 a.m. to 9:45 p.m.; 80 rubles ($1.3). Travel time about 30 minutes.

To Planernaya metro station (Purple line):

- Bus No. 817 runs from 5:22 a.m. to 12:08 a.m.; 55 rubles ($0.8). Travel time around 40 minutes.

- Mini bus No. 948 runs from 6:45 a.m. to 9:15 p.m.; 80 rubles ($1.3). Travel time around 30 minutes.

To Yugo-Zapadnaya metro station (Red line)

- Night bus H1 runs from 0:15, every half an hour, 55 rubles ($0.8).

If you arrive at night and don’t want to wait for a night bus, then take a taxi. But don’t take one that’s already at the airport because they charge 5,000 rubles ($80) and more; in fact, the ride should cost no more than 2,000 rubles ($30).

There are several services and apps to help you book a taxi in advance and the price is fixed no matter how long you spend in traffic jams:

- Uber is available in Moscow

- Yandex Taxi (the app works in many languages)

- Gett Taxi (works in Russian, English and Hebrew)

- City Mobil (available in English).

The last two are available for booking in advance, but there are usually many cars in the vicinity of the airport that’ll pick you up in 5-10 minutes. When you arrive at the airport you can get online with free WiFi in the terminal, and book a car. They’ll probably ask you to call after passing through border control because waiting in front of the airport is free for only the first 15 minutes, and then it’s quite expensive.

4. Car sharing

Several car-sharing companies are available at Sheremetyevo. You need an ID, driver’s license, credit card and a smartphone. You’ll need to sign a contract with a company in order to access its vehicle (you can also do this online). The leading companies are: Delimobil ( click here to find more about access at the airport); Yandex Drive (available in English on Google Play ); and BelkaCar ( works only in Russian ). You should download an app in advance to find the nearest car.

5. Rent a car

All major car rental companies can be found at Sheremetyevo: Sixt , Europcar , Avis , and Rentalcars . You can rent a car online or by visiting the rental office. Booking in advance doesn’t influence the price much but it does provide greater choice of car models.

6. Rent a helicopter

If you’re rich enough or adhere to the notion that ‘You only live once,’ then Sheremetyevo offers a great option to avoid traffic and roads entirely. Go to the airport’s website for more information about helicopter rental - www.svo.aero.
