Friend Safari

The Friend Safari (Japanese: フレンドサファリ Friend Safari ) is a facility in Kiloude City where Trainers can catch Pokémon that cannot normally be found in Kalos .

In the games

Once the player has entered the Hall of Fame , they are able to access Kiloude City and thus the Friend Safari. At the Friend Safari, the player is able to access Safaris for any Friends that are successfully registered in the 3DS 's friend list (regardless of whether or not that person has played Pokémon X and Y ). Each Safari has designated Pokémon that can be encountered, all belonging to a designated type; these are determined by the Friend's friend code and will not change. As such, any players who successfully register a given friend code in their 3DS will all be able to access the exact same Friend Safari. There is no way for the player to access the Friend Safari for their own 3DS.

Friends who have been recognized in the PSS will usually be represented in the Friend Safari list by the avatar they were last seen with on the PSS, while Friends who have not been seen will be represented by a "?" icon. However, if the player has added more than 100 Friends (by deleting some at some point), the earliest-seen avatars may begin to be forgotten and revert to "?" icons until they are next seen on the PSS; this does not affect the rest of the Safari's status, however. Also, if a Friend is deleted from the 3DS's friend list and then readded later, their Safari may retain the status it had before it was deleted.

All Friend Safaris have three Pokémon that may be captured. Only Pokémon from the first two "slots" are available until the Friend to whom that Safari belongs enters the Hall of Fame and subsequently appears online in the PSS at the same time as the player (thereby also allowing the PSS to recognize the Friend if it had not already). Once all three "slots" are unlocked the Pokémon encountered in that Friend's Safari will thereafter have a chance of having their Hidden Ability .

Pokémon encountered in the Friend Safari are guaranteed to have at least two IVs of 31 and have a higher chance of being Shiny . When checking for Shininess, the game generates up to four extra personality values to attempt to find a Shiny value, resulting in a rate of 5/4096; this effect can stack with the Shiny Charm , which results in a rate of 7/4096. All Pokémon that appear in the Friend Safari are level 30 (causing some, such as Muk and Drapion , to be underleveled ). Pokémon can be found in the Friend Safari regardless of being Version-exclusive Pokémon or otherwise unobtainable in either version. All Friend Safari-exclusive Pokémon can be normally caught in either Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire , or both.

In the tables below, note that "rate" does not refer to encounter rate but rather the likelihood for a Pokémon to have been selected for that "slot" of a Friend Safari. All Pokémon that can appear in a given Friend's Safari have the same encounter rate.

Fire-type safari, fighting-type safari, water-type safari, flying-type safari, grass-type safari, poison-type safari, electric-type safari, ground-type safari, psychic-type safari, rock-type safari, ice-type safari, bug-type safari, dragon-type safari, ghost-type safari, dark-type safari, steel-type safari, fairy-type safari.

• Initially, Vivillon 's icon would not replace the Poké Ball icon after it was encountered. This was fixed in the version 1.3 patch.
• Floette is the only Pokémon to have a greater than 50% chance of appearing in a Friend Safari.
• Cascoon is the only Pokémon to be found in a Friend Safari who does not match the designated type, as it is a pure Bug-type Pokémon found in a Poison-type Friend Safari. Its evolution , Dustox , however, is part Poison-type.

As you play with the Pok�mon in Pok�mon Amie, you will end up getting various decorations. Many of the decorations you get are related to the type of the Pok�mon you have been playing with. These decorations can then be put out onto your Pok�mon Amie screen, and decorated however you like. We'll provide a list of these decorations as soon as we can.

On this screen, various other Pok�mon will gather with your Pok�mon to play. These Pok�mon are in the Pok�mon Amie of people in your Friends & Acquaintance list. In addition to that, as you move, your Pok�mon will happily move along with you.

If you leave Pok� Puffs on the floor for the other Pok�mon, then you will eventually get given a special items such as Decorations, Wallpapers and even unique Pok�Puffs

When you play with the Pok�mon, yoou have the ability to interact with them on the touch screen of the Nintendo 3DS. This allows you to pet them in order to increase their affection which can lead to certain affects in battle. However, each Pok�mon has got certain parts which angers them if you pet it, such as Charizard's horns and Pikachu's cheerls, and bits which damage you, such as flames.

In addition to that, you have the ability to feed Pok�mon Pok�Puffs. These are obtained by allowing other players to visit your Pok�mon Amie page on the bottom screen, and as prizes for completing games. In the games, the higher the score, the better the Pok�Puff. There are five Pok�Puff flavours: Mint, Citrus, Mocha, Spice and Sweet, with each Pok�mon having their own preference. This varies depending on each individual Pok�mon, and not species. In addition to that, there are four different categories for each Pok�Puff: Basic, Frosted, Fancy and Deluxe, which can be denoted by the various topings on the top of them. The better the category, the more affection you will receive from your Pok�mon.

In addition to that, there are more Pok�Puffs to be found: Supreme Pok�Puffs. Many of these can be given to you via friends on the Pok�mon Amie screen, but others are given as a special gift in various circumstances

The unique feature with Pok�mon Amie is that after you have utilised the feature, you will come to see various effects in battle. These features range from superficial to largely beneficial for the trainer which allows for greater strategy in battle. Most of them occur randomly, with the rate increasing based upon the Pok�mon's affection towards you. The effects known are as follows

• Text : The introduction message, and various statements throughout battle change in context
• Critical Hit Ratio : The ratio of Critical Hits is increased
• Evasion : The Pok�mon's evasion is increased

The following may be attributed to Pok�mon Amie based on the visual representation, but it still isn't clear

• Paralysis : The Pok�mon has a chance of healing itself from paralysis
• Sleep : The Pok�mon has a chance of waking itself up
• Confusion : The Pok�mon has a chance of healing itself from confusion
• Burn : The Pok�mon has a chance of healing itself from burn
• Poison : The Pok�mon has a chance of healing itself from poison
• Survival : The Pok�mon has a chance of enduring a hit which would have knocked it out
• EXP Yeild : The Pok�mon can receive a boosted amount of EXP
• Petting : If your Pok�mon has high affection, you can pet it after it defeats a Pok�mon by rubbing the touch screen.

The mini-games are how you increase the Play stat of your Pok�mon. Each mini-game has multiple levels of difficulty, with them raising the stat a little more with each difficulty.

This game has various Pok�mon on the bottom screen as various balls of yarn fall down. Your task is to hit the balls back up with your Pok�mon. This is done by touching the Pok�mon as the yarn hits. As you do this without missing, you will gain combos. If you hit the Pok�mon as the yarn hits, you get more points for each hit.

This game has you complete a puzzle of your own Pok�mon. The image you're creating is in a constant state of motion to make it even more difficult. The task is to complete the puzzle as fast, and in as few moves, as possible. The faster you do it, the better you do.

This patch allows Pokemon XY v1.5 to access any friend safari Pokemon. It makes the game think the console has 71 friends that have every available friend safari with all three slots unlocked.

This does not modify your actual 3ds friends list, it just makes the game think fake friends are available. You should probably avoid going online when using this patch - I'm not responsible for anything that goes wrong when using it.

Pokémon: Rarest Species from Red & Blue

• Lapras is a rare Water/Ice-Type gift in Silph Co. but can only be obtained once per playthrough at Lv. 15.
• Tauros, a tough Normal-Type, can be found in the Safari Zone with a low 1% or 4% encounter rate.
• Mewtwo, a powerful Psychic-Type, can be found at the end of the tough post-game Cerulean Cave dungeon at Lv. 70.

For years, the Pokémon franchise's tagline encouraged players to complete their Pokédexes, and the Generation I games had several elusive species. It was certainly more manageable since the series debuted with "only" 151 creatures, as Scarlet and Violet brought the roster count to an astonishing 1,000+. Even so, the classic games still made players work for that achievement.

The iconic Legendary species, like the Bird Trio, are expectedly among the rarest Pokémon in the mainline games. However, from the game's only Dragon-Type family to the end-game boss Mewtwo and everything in between, the Generation I titles for the original Game Boy had a diverse pool of rare Pokémon scattered across the Kanto region.

Lapras Can Only be Found Once Per Playthrough

Every pokmon type and their strengths & weaknesses.

Lapras is one of the most memorable Pokémon from the Kanto region , and while it's not a Legendary species, players get one chance to obtain one. Oddly enough, it's also not found anywhere in the wild. Rather, the player receives it as a one-time gift.

Lapras is a dual Water/Ice-Type Pokémon with a base stat total of 535 in the Game Boy games. In battle, its best attributes are its defensive bulkiness (130 HP, 80 Defense, 95 Special) and its fearsome and diverse attacks, including Surf, Thunderbolt, and Blizzard. Unfortunately, players won't get it until the late-game portion of the story at Lv. 15. A Silph Co. employee on the company building's 7th floor will offer a Lapras as a gift.

Tauros is Among the Toughest Finds in the Safari Zone

Despite Normal-Type Pokémon having one of the more unassuming if reliable typings, they're some of the strongest species in the Gen I games. Tauros is no exception, as it's capable of bulldozing its way through opponents for players with the patience to capture one.

The Normal-Type Tauros is a powerhouse, with its Attack (100), Defense (95), and Speed (110) being its highlights. Wild species can be found in unlimited numbers, but it's arguably rarer than one-time gifts or even Legendary creatures. That's because Tauros can only be found in the Safari Zone with a mere 1% or 4% encounter rate -- in Red and Blue -- and has a decent chance to run from the player. Since it's the Safari Zone's rules, players can't even weaken it before attempting a capture.

Porygon is the Most Expensive Prize

For a time, the Game Corner was a staple in the mainline Pokémon games, with certain species able to be redeemed for coins. Porygon was offered as one of the Game Corner's prizes, but it forced players to do an arduous amount of grinding.

Porygon is another pure Normal-Type Pokémon, and while it's far from the strongest species in the games, the combination of its typing and defensive stats give it a respectable supporting role in battle. It's debatable whether that's worth the grind in the Game Corner, as it's the only way to obtain one and costs an astonishing 9,999 coins in Pokémon Red and Yellow ​​​​​​ (6,500 in Blue ).

Aerodactyl is the Strongest of Kanto's Fossil Pokémon

The final member of Generation I's Fossil Pokémon, Aerodactyl was a powerful partner for those willing to train it. As with its contemporaries -- the Omanyte and Kabuto evolutionary lines --, this creature had to be revived at Cinnabar Island's Pokémon Lab.

Aerodactyl is a dual Rock/Flying-Type, boasting an impressive 515 base stat total in Red , Blue , Green , and Yellow . While it has access to some of the most powerful attacks available, players must train it extensively since it's revived at Lv. 5. Aerodactyl's fossil isn't found as early as the Helix or Dome Fossils. The Old Amber can't be obtained until tracking back to the Pewter City Museum after getting the HM attack Cut.

Dragonite Was the Only Final-Stage Dragon of Its Generation

Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon are the closest to the power and status of Legendary species without ranking among them. Dragonite was the first in this category and the Dragon typing in general. The Dragon-Type was meant to be equally powerful and elusive in the Generation I games, and the 600 base-stat Dragonite lives up to that reputation.

Unless players know where to find the first two species in its evolutionary line -- Dratini and Dragonair -- they won't see Dragonite until Lance of the Elite Four. It's the second-to-last trainer battle in the main story, with only Ice-Type and its fellow Dragon-Type having super-effective advantages against it. Both Dratini and Dragonair are rare wild encounters in the waters of the Safari Zone in Fushia City.

Zapdos is the Strongest of the Legendary Bird Trio

Several Pokémon generations have their own "Legendary Trio," with the Legendary Birds being the first to start this trend. Zapdos is generally the strongest of the three and is found after backtracking with the HM move Surf.

This Legendary Bird is a dual Electric/Flying-Type and is easily the strongest Electric species in the games thanks to Zapdos' high stats and access to powerful moves. Like many creatures classified as "Legendary," only one can be found in a playthrough and lives at the end of the abandoned Power Plant dungeon. Zapdos' low catch rate and high damage output make it a difficult catch.

Articuno is Deep in One of the Game's Best Dungeons

Ice-Type Pokémon are generally seen as defensively fragile, but Articuno can compensate for this in certain areas. This Legendary Bird is also found at the end of a dungeon and requires the HMs Strength and Surf. Articuno is a dual Ice/Flying-Type Pokémon, and it's weaker than Zapdos since its typing leaves it especially susceptible to Rock attacks.

Still, it has the highest defensive stats (100 Defense, 125 Special) among the trio and can use several powerful attacks like Ice Beam, Blizzard, Hyper Beam, and Double-Edge. It makes the trip through the winding Seafoam Islands worth it, which requires Strength and Surf to traverse. Players have to solve puzzles involving pushing boulders to change the cave's water currents, rewarding them one chance to catch a Lv. 50 Articuno.

Moltres is Found Along the Way to the Elite Four

Moltres is overlooked compared to its counterparts but can still deal heavy damage in a battle. There isn't much flexibility for when players can find it, as the earliest player can catch it is on the way to the endgame content.

Moltres is a dual Fire/Flying-Type and like the starter Pokémon Charizard, it's particularly vulnerable to Rock-Type moves. Its natural learnset of moves is perhaps the least impressive. But by teaching Moltres TM moves, it can complement the powerful Sky Attack with other abilities like Fire Blast and Rest for healing. Unlike Zapdos and Articuno, Moltres doesn't appear in a dungeon dedicated to it. Rather, players' one chance to find it is inside Victory Road leading to the Elite Four -- the final gauntlet to finish the story.

Mewtwo is Found at the End of the Toughest Dungeon

While it may not be the strongest Legendary Pokémon anymore , the fact that Mewtwo is still a force to be reckoned with is impressive in and of itself. A fearsome creature, the intriguing lore surrounding its creation as a genetic off-shoot of Mew can be found in the abandoned Pokémono Mansion on Cinnabar Island.

Players have one chance to find Mewtwo in Red , Blue , Green , and Yellow . The Psychic-Type Pokémon is deep in Cerulean Cave -- the game's strongest and only post-game dungeon. After wading through the various high-level wild species living there, players will take on a menacing Lv. 70 Mewtwo. Backed by powerful moves and stunning base stats totaling 680, catching this beast any earlier would severely break the game.

Mew is Only Obtainable Through Exploits

Part of the reason Game Freak and The Pokémon Company marketed the generation as the original 150 as opposed to the true 151 is due to how elusive Mew is. The first Pokémon to fall under the "Mythical" subcategory , this species is expectedly among the strongest Generation I has to offer.

Mew is a pure Psychic-Type Pokémon, and the creature is so rare that players can't legitimately find it in a playthrough of Pokémon Red , Blue , Green , or Yellow . Players would have to put in a cheat code or trigger one of the most elaborate glitches in the history of the mainline games. Its stats are perfectly balanced (100 across the board) and it can learn every TM move.
