Background [ ]

On October 25, 2012, in partnership with ABC News on the prime-time TV special All Access Nashville with Katie Couric – A Special Edition of 20/20, Swift announced that she would be launching a North American stadium and arena tour in early 2013 in support of her fourth studio album, Red . During a radio interview with WRVW, Swift mentioned that "It's nothing like any other tour before."

Swift told Billboard : "Of course, you know the tour will be a big representation of this record," Swift tells Billboard . "I'm so excited to see what songs the fans like the most and which ones jump to the forefront, because that's the first step. We always see which songs are really the passionate songs and the ones the fans are freaking out over the most, and those are the ones that are definitely in the set list. I can't wait for that."

Swift used Tom Petty's " American Girl " as her entrance song on her previous tour but now takes the stage to Lenny Kravitz's version of "American Woman". She sings a cover of The Lumineers's "Ho Hey" nightly, intertwined with her own "Stay Stay Stay".

Her meet and greet room for the tour was called Club Red .

The stage for the Red tour is when Swift really started getting creative with her stage designs and therefore, add a more evolved look to her live shows. In fact, the shape of the Red Tour stage is very unique, it is in a U shape, with two pits, divided by a catwalk within the U stage. This permitted for fans to feel closer to Taylor during the show and have many interactions.

The main stage catwalk also had a crane that Swift went on during " Treacherous " and " We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together " for the show encore.

There was also a B stage at the back of the venue, with a round-shaped platform that lifted up. Swift would perform the surprise song of the set on this stage.

During the shows in Asia, the stage was been modified with several cuts, including:

  • The U stage was completely removed and replaced by a standard T-shaped catwalk
  • The overhead screen above the stage were removed, and there was only one back screen, not three.
  • Many lighting were reduced.
  • The crane at catwalk, the lifted platform on B stage and floating constellation during " Sparks Fly " was removed.

Taylor Swift Red Tour Manila: In Photos and Feels

When in Manila has tried to give fans of Taylor Swift the latest on the #REDTourManila. Days before her concert, we talked about our favorite  hugot lines from her songs. A few hours before her concert, we gave updates on what her fans were wearing and their different types of pakulo . A few hours after the REDTourManila, we also made a post on the concert itself  and promised more official photos. So without further ado, here they are!

All of these official photos on the first page were taken by Courtney Sayson.

If you’re wondering why Taylor is wearing the same outfits in all of the photos, it’s because they were all taken during her second and third songs, which was the only time the press was allowed to shoot photos and take videos. Her wardrobe during the concert, though, was actually something I enjoyed observing because of their variety: formal, fierce, sexy, and classy. She even had a red shirt with the word “Manila” on it.  She changed outfits so quickly, too! Of course, there was the classic move of removing a portion of her gown to reveal a fiercer costume underneath it, as well.

In the previous posts, some of the readers asked if we Photoshopped Taylor’s legs to make them look longer. WE DID NOT! :)) If they’re too good to be true, what part of Taylor isn’t? ;)) Just kidding. But seriously, we did  not  Photoshop her legs. She’s just really tall and has really long legs. And I think her high-waisted shorts made her legs look even longer.

SEVENTEEN’s ‘FOLLOW TO’ In Bulacan Brings Them Closer Than Ever To Filipino CARATs

Despite some logistical hiccups, SEVENTEEN pulled through to pull off a show that’s impossible to forget for the Filipino CARATs.

In a massive stadium packed with a sea of your fellow fans, one might wonder: is it delusional to feel as if SEVENTEEN was directly addressing me in the crowd?

If you ask the majority of people in attendance at either of their back-to-back shows at the Philippine Sports Stadium last weekend (January 13 and 14), you’d understand why. You see, with SEVENTEEN, there’s a certain magnetism that builds a special bond between them and the Filipino CARATs in attendance at their shows.

With it being over a year since their last visit to the country, the excitement was palpable — from the show’s announcement a few months ago to the mere seconds before they emerged on stage. The 13-month drought period built up a whole lot of anticipation for their return, with both days of the show selling out in a near instant.

SEVENTEEN’s ‘FOLLOW TO’ In Bulacan Brings Them Closer Than Ever To Filipino CARATs

Being one of K-pop’s most notable groups, there is no doubt about SEVENTEEN’s place as multi-faceted performers in the global scene. As the biggest-selling musical act in Korea, their music obviously resonates with a universal audience, yet it transcends sonic boundaries when performed in a live setting.

From the very first note of the opener “ SUPER ”, SEVENTEEN made it clear that the night wasn’t just about their performance; but it was about forging connections with the fans in attendance. Their entrance on stage, received by thunderous applause from all sections of the stadium, was followed by a dazzling display of talent and charisma –– as seen from the hold of their gaze that was presented on the larger-than-life screens.

SEVENTEEN’s ‘FOLLOW TO’ In Bulacan Brings Them Closer Than Ever To Filipino CARATs

Their captivating performances of “ DON QUIXOTE ”, “ CLAP ”, “ Don’t Wanna Cry ”, “F*ck My Life ”, and “ THANKS ” marked a phenomenal first act that blended showmanship with a spectacular set of synchronized choreography that made the boys’ visions in angelic white. Following their first round of performances, the group addressed the crowd as if they were long-lost friends who missed one another. Joshua even asked, “It’s been a long time [Manila]. Did you miss us?” –– to which the crowd responded with thunderous applause.

The group’s fondness for Filipino CARATs made audiences feel that each interaction we bore witness to felt personal and intimate despite the huge size of the venue. And as their kindred energy became more evident, the members became more at ease with one another and with the crowd. “Let’s have fun tonight. Mahal ko kayo (I love you)!” said WOOZI to the crowd.

Soon after, the special showcases for each of the group’s units were next up, highlighting the versatility of each member. The emotional, heartfelt performance of “ Dust ” and “ Pinwheel ” performed by the Vocal Unit elicited a flood of tears from the audience, while the extravagant showcase to “ HIGHLIGHT ” and “ I Don’t Understand But I Luv U ” by the Performance Unit left the stadium impressed. Even the group’s Hip Hop Unit left the whole venue sizzling red-hot with their explosive spectacle of “ Back it up ” and “ Fire ”.

With their demonstration of the ‘ SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN ’ candy-coated visuals, the members performed energetic and inspired renditions to “ HOME; RUN ”, “ Left & Right ”, “ BEAUTIFUL ”, “ God of Music ”, “ April Shower ”, and “ Kidult ” provided the stadium with a radiant spark that invigorated audiences with a much-needed energy boost, following the long day of soaking up the sun. Yet to showcase their versatility, the group shifted the energy with their performances of “ Anyone ”, “ Good To Me ”, and “ HOT ” which featured an impressive exhibition of large-scale pyrotechnics and fireworks to fit the heated movements of the members on stage.

SEVENTEEN’s ‘FOLLOW TO’ In Bulacan Brings Them Closer Than Ever To Filipino CARATs

It’s absolutely worth mentioning just how palpable the energy in the stadium was with each track, with the passionate enthusiasm of Filipino CARATs providing the fuel for the boys to give their all with their performances. Some could describe the special synergy between the group and their fans as electric –– marking a vibrant exchange of love and appreciation from the stage and outward.

Filipino CARATs, known for their fervor, turned the stadium into a sea of lights, illuminating the venue with their light sticks and unwavering support. Like diamonds under pressure, these fans know how to overcome a series of hurdles in their pilgrimage journey just to bear witness for SEVENTEEN. They rocked the stadium (to the point that it split open, literally), and sang their hearts out to nearly every track of the show’s three-hour setlist.

SEVENTEEN’s ‘FOLLOW TO’ In Bulacan Brings Them Closer Than Ever To Filipino CARATs

In spite S.COUPS and Jeonghan ‘s absence (due to injuries), it didn’t cast shadows over the group’s performance. On the contrary, it became a testament to SEVENTEEN’s resilience and determination –– exemplifying just how much the remaining members worked tirelessly, their synchronized moves and powerful vocals filling the void left by their absent comrades.

The group’s professionalism pulled through despite numerous issues that occurred throughout the show, whether it was Seungkwan taking a break halfway through the show or logistical frustrations. Amidst all the challenges, the members still managed to rise above it all and allowed each of their personalities to shine through with their sheer presence on the stage.  It was evident that the group had poured their hearts into every performance of theirs, giving their 110% in their gestures that did not go unnoticed by the emotionally charged audience.

As the concert reached its zenith, SEVENTEEN then came out in two separate carts (like parade floats) which passed through all corners of the venue –– giving the members a moment to express their gratitude, and say hello face front to their fans attendance. Each member of the group made an effort to respond to the crowd, reading any signs held up by those present.

Their last showcase, featured captivating yet heartfelt performances of “ Run to you ”, “ Together (Eng. Version) ”, and “ To you ” as they walked around all areas of the giant diamond stage, until the moment that they delivered their closing ‘ments’ that resonated through the crowd with sincerity and warmth. “ Babalik kami para sa inyo (We’ll come back for you), I love you”, Mingyu says to the Flipino CARATs, holding half a heart beside his right cheek.

Joshua didn’t hold back from getting sentimental, assuring fans just how much their group cherishes their unwavering support. “We missed you so much, honestly. Every time we come here, your energy is amazing. We always have such a great time with you guys, so we wanted to be back”, he mentions. Concluding his expression of gratitude, he states; “We came to such a big stadium because of you guys, so hopefully today is a really great memory for you. We’ll be back soon so don’t worry. Mahal ko kayo !” –– to which the crowd responds in a frenzy.

SEVENTEEN’s ‘FOLLOW TO’ In Bulacan Brings Them Closer Than Ever To Filipino CARATs

The encore, with inspired and energetic performances to “ HIT ” and their signature track “ VERY NICE “, a moment that felt like a collective heartbeat, saw the members returning to the stage with renewed vigor. The cheers of the fans reached a crescendo, echoing the resilience of both SEVENTEEN and their CARATs. It wasn’t just a concert; it was a celebration of love and unity, an unspoken pact between the band and their fans to weather any storm together.

Beyond SEVENTEEN’s remarkable talent, showmanship, and entertaining prowess, there’s an intangible quality that takes center stage — their genuine connection with their fans. While the band’s friendship shines throughout every aspect of the show, they extend that warmth and invitation to the crowd, creating an atmosphere where we feel not merely as onlookers but as friends sharing a memorable moment together.

SEVENTEEN’s ability to bridge the gap between the stage and the crowd is what elevates their concerts into more than a musical spectacle. It becomes a shared experience, a celebration of a bond that’s uniquely ours and theirs.

After two nights of relentless energy and powerful performances, this definitely doesn’t mark the final chapter of SEVENTEEN in the Philippines, but merely a temporary “see-you-later” until their inevitable return. In the words of Hoshi, “Wherever CARAT goes, SEVENTEEN will be there.”

Philippine Concerts

Concerts, gigs, live performances and other musical events, bts: the red bullet hits manila with a bang.

The Red Bullet didn’t just pass through Manila – it left its imprint with a bang.

BTS / Bangtan Boys conquered the MOA Arena last Sunday, December 7, leaving behind a trail of ARMYs breathless in their midst. Presented by Pulp Live World, the two-hour, sold-out concert showcased Bangtan’s impressive musicality along with their impeccable dance choreography.

Bangtan Boys Live in Manila

What is Bangtan?

Bangtan Sonyeondan / 방탄소년닚literally translates to “Bulletproof Boy Scouts” in English or as they are often called, “Bangtan Boys”. Their group name is symbolic for their music’s ambition to block out the world’s bullets – to stand and fight for the rightful beliefs in a convoluted world. Composed of Rap Monster, J-Hope, Suga, Jin, Jimin, V and Jungkook, BTS is a seven-member Korean hip hop/R&B group who are steadily gaining worldwide recognition for their inventive take on hip hop amalgamated with topnotch dance choreography, all the while encased in the ever glamorously chaotic K-pop industry.

BTS made their official debut just last June 2013 under BigHit Entertainment. A year and a half later, they have drawn considerable attention and admiration from fans around the globe with their music. They have built a formidable music discography after having released 2 EPs, “O!RUL8, 2?”, “Skool Luv Affair”, a single “2 Cool for Skool” and their latest, their first studio album titled “Dark & Wild” – all of which they had a hand in producing and composing. Bangtan’s main rappers, Suga, Rap Monster and J-Hope, are the principal composers of their songs.

Their lyrics centers on the concerns of the youth: on questioning the system, on the whimsical notions of love, the uncertainty in growing up and most prominently, the figurative and literal ambition to take on the world. So to speak, Bangtan’s members are young – their ages range from 17 to 22 years old. However, their musicality is very formidable in its inherent insight, poetry and even flexibility.

BTS has garnered a lot of recognition under their belt. They have won the “New Artist of the Year” at the MelOn Music Awards at the end of 2013 and “Best Rookie Award” in the Seoul Music Awards and Gaon Chart K-pop Awards in 2014. They are nominated for more awards this year, and they might just snatch them. Moreover, they had conducted showcases in Germany, Sweden and Brazil in the middle of this year. Also, for their reality show American Hustle Life, they had filmed in Los Angeles and trained under rappers/producers Coolio and Warren G, along with other prominent hip hop personalities and choreographers.

Bangtan Boys Manila Concert 2014

So what is Bangtan? Who are they?

They are a seven-member Korean group who are young, talented, ambitious, and they’re out to make a dent in the world with their own brand of hip hop.

The Red Bullet Hits Hard!

BTS Live Trilogy Episode II: The Red Bullet is their first Asia tour. They had come to the Philippines after successfully finishing their shows in Korea and Japan. It was Bangtan’s first time in our country, and they were in for a surprise.

BTS arrived in Manila on December 6, Saturday, when a huge number of fans caused a ruckus in the airport as they flocked the terminal to welcome the group. There were reports of a broken glass panel inside the airport and general rowdiness of the crowd as they arrived. Filipino ARMYs were a bit too overeager to see them. In the evening of the same day, the High Touch Event exclusive for Pulp Royalty ticket holders was held. The event, although it went by very quickly, gave the privileged fans the opportunity to see the 7 members up close and give them a high five, if only for a second.

By Sunday, ARMYs (the official name of BTS fans) came fully equipped. They were dressed in camouflage-themed attires, BTS bias shirts and basketball jerseys along with other fashion brands often worn by the group such as Hood By Air and Dope Couture. As early as 2pm, the surroundings of MOA Arena were filled with ARMYs who were so excited to see the show, their screams can be heard echoing near the mall itself. Limited tickets were sold prior to the concert, and these were eventually sold out on the day of the show. Only the patron and lower box area were opened yet each seat/space was filled. Sticking true to their schedule, the show started promptly at 7:30 in the evening.

The stage was set up in a red wall splattered with graffiti art with the names of each BTS member. There was a big LCD backdrop at the middle, too. The set-up, compared to other K-pop concerts, was modest. There were no runways or side screens. The stage was also smaller than usual. However, that really didn’t matter because the concert placed great focus on their music and that was just the most important thing for their show.

bangtan-boys-live-at-moa-arena-2014

When the lights went off and the opening video of BTS’ roll call started playing, a sea of yellow lights burned up the Arena along with the loud, frantic cheering of the crowd. Bangtan started strong with the defiant tones of “N.O” and “We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2.

The TRB setlist was well conceptualized. There were the fiery part, the heart-melting set and the party-like-crazy encore. The thing is, Bangtan’s songs are very distinctive, each one sounding very different from the others. They have songs that are sweet to the bones and those that are quite full of rage and angst. During the concert, they distributed these songs nicely. There was no dead air. ARMYs were on an all time high during the entirety of the show. Many in the crowd were singing along to most of their songs.

Following the forceful aura of the first two songs, the setlist shifted to the slow, flowing beats of “We On”, the wistful air of “Let Me Know”, the sweet rhythmic pulls of “읎불킄 (Blanket Kick)” and ”하룹만 (Just One Day)”, to the conclusive heart-swaying melody of “Outro: Propose”.

bangtan-boys-at-mall-of-asia-arena

One part of the set that really stood out was when the lights turned red and the opening notes of “Cypher Pt. 3: Killer” was heard. Rap Mon, Suga and J-Hope then took the stage to perform the rage-filled song which was written as a response to their haters in the hip hop industry. That part was the most intense performance, seeing as how the three rappers suddenly changed their aura. Gone were the idols for a few minutes. They ran and danced around the stage as if they were in their natural habitat – with Suga doing his crazy shoulder dance, Rap Mon screaming and rapping at the same time and J-Hope looking unusually fierce. It was a joy to see them like that for once.

Then came the opening lines of “Cypher Pt. 2: Triptych” which eventually melted to “혞넎ëȘŹ 전쟁 (Hormone War)” followed by “Danger” and “상낚자 (Boy in Luv)”. Those songs are the rock-infused ones. It felt great to headbang and sing along to them. It was the highest part of the set. At the end of it, the crowd was virtually left hanging. Bangtan returned for the encore and this time, the Arena turned into a huge party as they performed “JUMP” followed by the anthemic BTS song “진êČ©ì˜ 방탄 (Rise of Bangtan)” and the bouncy “팔도강산 (Satoori Rap)”.

The Seven Members of Bangtan

From the polished, killer choreography to the strenuous rapping and singing to the candid fan interactions onstage, the seven members of Bangtan did their part tremendously well during their concert in Manila.

The leader of BTS, Rap Monster , had this enormous stage presence which undeniably caught everyone’s attention. Add to that his newly colored flaming red hair that was just so striking; it was difficult to take your eyes off it. Known for his poetic verses and deep voice, Rap Mon perfectly showed how he earned his name. He didn’t miss beat nor did he twist his words. As the leader and the only fluent English speaker in the group, he spoke the most during the breaks in the concert.

Suga also dominated the stage with his fast-paced, sharp-witted rap. His stage name comes from “sugar” and the fact that his porcelain skin makes him look sweet, but well, don’t let the name fool you. He’s not exactly your typical puppy-eyed, pretty boy. He’s known for his pointed words and often feisty rapping, but then again, don’t let that fool you, too. Suga’s the same guy who composed “Let Me Know” and “Tomorrow”, songs which are both melancholic and insightful, it melts hearts instantly.

J-Hope , the rapper, dancer and mood maker, was a central figure onstage with his charisma and boundless cheeriness. The J in his name came from his last name, Jeong. “Hope” came from him being the positive influence, much like the hope in Pandora’s Box. Much as his name implies, his rap is often more melodic and more upbeat. Onstage, he’s very playful, always smiling and very much willing to do his comedic take on the Touch My Body dance along with other aegyo tricks.

Jin , the eldest, is quite the eye-catcher. Known and teased as the most visually stunning member of BTS in their interview and show appearances, he definitely did not disappoint. As one of the vocalists of the group, he also held his end well with his sweet voice. As a bonus, he’s also the most gentlemanly figure onstage.

Jimin never failed to take the spotlight whichever side he went. Being one of the most active in fan interactions, he always had this energetic vibe. Always brimming with charisma, he had a ready smile and puncturing gaze to match it for everyone in the crowd. His trademark air kick and smooth dance moves were definitely worth seeing live. More than anything, though, it was most captivating to hear him sing and hit the high notes perfectly.

V is surprisingly very much like you’d expect him to be – full of innocent humor and weirdness (in most cases), which is his charm, really. That, and his sonorous voice which can either give you goosebumps when he sings seriously or give off rage whenever he shouts. He’s quite the crowd favorite, too.

Jungkook is the main vocalist, occasional rapper and dancer of BTS. Oh, and he’s also the youngest at 17 years old, earning him the title of “Golden Maknae”. Showing off his versatility and talent, he did everything extremely well during the concert; it was difficult to believe that he’s the youngest. Also worth noting: he’s very, very tall in person.

BTS, composed of these seven lads, is very different from other K-pop groups. Yes, they are “idols”, but they are not confined strictly to that standard of glamour and showmanship. Each to their own credit, they are very talented. More than that, however, they are capable of writing and producing their own songs. They have a mature musical sensibility for their age, along with the soul and passion to match it.

BTS, The Red Bullet Roundup

To be honest, their music made me appreciate hip hop. I mean, I occasionally try to listen to all genres there is, but I never stuck to hip hop. Bangtan caught my attention because they know how to create good music which does not only sounds nice, but is also insightful and inspiring. Their albums have all been impressive, to say the least. Even the raw, unreleased tracks in their Soundcloud account are well composed.

BTS’ dance choreography and synchronicity are topnotch, too. It makes me wonder how they manage to do it so well while singing and rapping at every performance. I could only imagine how much energy and effort it took to run a two-hour concert while doing all those dances. Add to that their effort to speak completely in English during their speech/talks.

Lastly, they are not just eye candies. If anything, that’s just a bonus. Even with those faces, they’re all exceptionally talented in their own field, and they deserve to be recognized for their music.

BTS Live Trilogy Episode II: The Red Bullet is the best K-pop concert I’ve had the privilege of witnessing upfront. From the beginning to the end, it was just mindblowing – their music, the energy and just being right in front of them. It was the best experience I’ve had. The Red Bullet hit Manila with a bang. It was loud. It was glorious. Right until the last flower confetti was falling, it made me wish they came back for another encore. Oh well, I guess that would have to wait until the next tour.

Note: TRB is the second episode of the trilogy and it’s their first tour. Yes, you read it right. Their second episode is their opening tour, and as they had confirmed in the concert, Episodes 1 and 3 are about to be launched next. So what mystery lies beyond that? Who knows? But I’m sure thousands of Filipino ARMYs are dying to find out. Meanwhile, we keep our fingers crossed for Episodes 1 and 3!

Special thanks to Pulp Live World and Ms. Happee Sy for bringing Bangtan to Manila!

Taylor Swift Eras Tour Reputation Era via Taylor Swift Productions and Silent House Productions

The Eras Tour Was Taylor Swift’s Biggest Outing Yet, But It Was Far From Her First

Image of Lauren Coates

City by city, song by song, Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has quickly become of the highest-grossing (and buzziest) tours in music history. Spanning the entire length of Swift’s discography, Taylor honors each of her previous musical/aesthetic “eras” with a dedicated section on her setlist, allowing fans to relive the feeling of each album, if only for a moment.

But while the Eras Tour brings each album together on one mega-tour, it’s hardly the first time Taylor has been around, or even the first time she’s embarked on a stadium tour. From humble beginnings to sold-out shows across the globe, here’s a breakdown of all of Taylor Swift’s tours, in chronological order.

Fearless Tour

As most Swifties know, Taylor’s first album was a self-titled country pop record with singles like “Teardrops on My Guitar,” “Our Song,” and “Tim McGraw.” Taylor did tour during the release of Taylor Swift, but not as a headliner—she supported her first album by performing as an opening act for larger artists at the time like Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Faith Hill, and Keith Urban.

But while Taylor Swift was her first album, it wasn’t her first tour—that honor belongs to the Fearless Tour, which kicked off in April 2009 and ran through July 2010. The tour played a total of 105 shows (mostly across North America) including limited stops in Asia, Europe, and Australia. Kellie Pickler joined Taylor as an opening act, with artists like then-boyfriend John Mayer, Katy Perry, and Faith Hill appearing at certain performances as surprise guests. Though the tour didn’t get a concert film, Taylor Swift: Journey to Fearless was released as a 3-episode docuseries, documenting the behind-the-scenes of the tour.

Speak Now World Tour

Taylor’s first proper world tour, the Speak Now World Tour , began in February 2011 and featured a total of 111 performances, including seven in Asia and 12 in Europe. In addition to being her first world tour, Speak Now was also Taylor’s first stadium tour and featured more extensive set pieces, choreography, and costuming than the Fearless tour. Speak Now ‘s openers included NeedToBreathe, Hunter Hayes, and Hot Chelle Rae, and it was the first Taylor tour attended by yours truly. A concert film, Taylor Swift: Speak Now World Tour Live , was recorded to accompany the tour.

The Red Tour

Two years later, Taylor was back on the road with the Red Tour, which kicked off in March of 2013 and ran through June of 2014, with a total of 86 performances across the globe. In addition to continuing to bump up the tour’s production value through costuming, choreography, and set design, the Red tour also featured the introduction of surprise songs, which changed night-to-night. Certain Red tour dates also featured Taylor bringing out a surprise guest and singing one of their songs as a duet. Highlights of Red tour guests included Taylor singing “Jenny From the Block” with Jennifer Lopez, “You’re So Vain” with Carly Simon, and “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark” with Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump.

Unlike previous installments, there was no concert film version of the Red tour.

The 1989 World Tour

Following Red was the 1989 World Tour, beginning in May 2015 and ending December of the same year for a total of 85 shows. The 1989 World Tour featured the return of the Surprise Songs mechanic, and hosted Vance Joy, Shawn Mendes, Rae Morris, and Haim as opening acts. Haim would also go on to return as an opening act for the Eras Tour, as well as guest star in the Bejeweled music video and feature on an evermore track.

One of the tour stops in Sydney was recorded for a concert film version of the tour called The 1989 World Tour Live —prior to the Eras Tour, that Sydney performance held the record for Swift’s most-attended performance, with 75,980 Swifties in attendance.

Reputation Stadium Tour

Though Taylor had previously performed at plenty of stadiums on tour, the Reputation Stadium Tour was Swift’s first all-stadium tour, playing May through November of 2018 for a total of 53 shows—her shortest tour to date. Openers for reputation included Camila Cabello, Charli XCX, and Broods, some of whom would join Taylor during the set for “Shake it Off.” As with her previous tours, reputation featured surprise songs at each show and a number of surprise guests at certain performances, this time including Troye Sivan, Selena Gomez, and Niall Horan.

A performance in Arlington was recorded for a concert film called Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour , which was released by (but recently taken off of) Netflix. Fans speculate that reputation leaving Netflix could be related to the fact that Taylor has yet to re-record her masters for reputation .

A sixth tour, Lover Fest, was originally scheduled for April through August of 2020, but was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tour would’ve featured Swift’s then-first performance in Brazil, and would also have been the first time Swift’s tour dates included stops at previously organized festivals. Because there was no tour, there’s no Lover concert film, but Swift did release City of Lover , a recording of a one-off concert in Paris, as a tv special in May of 2020.

The Eras Tour

Last but certainly not least is, of course, The Eras Tour , which is currently ongoing and kicked off in March of 2023. We’ve previously done a full breakdown of the Eras setlist, which features glimpses into all of Swift’s previous albums, but focuses most heavily on those she was unable to tour because of COVID— Lover, folklore, evermore, and Midnights. A concert film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour , was released in theaters and is currently available to rent on streaming.

Will Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ Setlist Change After ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ Release?

Will Taylor Swift s Eras Tour Setlist Change After The Tortured Poets Department Release 001

Taylor Swift ’s The Tortured Poets Department has already captivated the world , leaving her fans to wonder whether any of the new songs will pop up on her Eras Tour setlist.

Swift, 34, kicked off her three-hour concert series in March 2023 in Arizona, soon traversing the United States, Central and South America, Asia and Australia. The shows highlight most of her past albums: Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, Reputation, Folklore, Evermore and Midnights . There also is a section dedicated to “surprise songs,” where Swift adds two new acoustic renditions (most recently, mash-ups) to the show.

Swift has been on hiatus since early March, weeks before The Tortured Poets Department dropped on Friday, April 19. The record, her 11th studio album, features 31 songs including “Fortnight,” “So Long, London,” “Fresh Out the Slammer,” “So High School” and “thanK you aIMee.”

Swift’s fans planning to see Eras later this year — the tour leg kicks off in Paris on Thursday, May 9 — have since taken to social media, curious if they will be able to hear any TTPD live.

“OK listen I NEED Taylor to add ‘I Can Do It With a Broken Heart’ to the Eras Tour setlist. … Just that ONE. … PLEASE. … It was MADE for the Eras Tour !!!!!!!!!!” a social media user wrote via X.

Another added, “I am so obsessed with Taylor’s new album idk how to survive the Eras Tour (if I actually go twice I might just drop dead afterwards).”

Will Taylor Swift s Eras Tour Setlist Change After The Tortured Poets Department Release 002

Since Eras has sections dedicated to Swift’s previous albums , it is possible that TTPD could get its own mini-set in the lineup. Not all of her preexisting cohorts feature the same amount of songs, so Swift could cut some songs in order to add a time for Tortured Poets additions .

Spotify added further fuel to the fire on Friday as Swifties noticed the streaming platform’s official video for “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” a TTPD track, features footage solely from the Eras Tour.

Related: Breaking Down All of Taylor Swift's 'Eras Tour' Surprise Song Mash-Ups

Swift’s musical director David Cook , who has also been featured on several of her past LPs, also hinted that TTPD songs could make an appearance on the tour lineup.

“Not sure how much I can add to the discourse other than this album is really REALLY good. You FEEL it,” Cook wrote via Instagram on Friday, quoting “Loml” with a mind-blown emoji.

According to eagle-eyed Swifties that captured screenshots, Cook also wrote, “Wait until you hear the live versions.” The addition, however, has since been deleted.

Of course, it is also possible that Swift will drop a TTPD single in her surprise song section.

“How will The Tortured Poets Department affect the Eras Tour ? Hopefully only on surprise songs (in a good way),” an X user theorized.

While Swift has yet to address if TTPD will affect her Eras Tour setlist, she’s given fans insight into how she picks song s for the acoustic section.

“This has become my favorite part of the show because it’s become very chaotic and it’s become a challenge for me to think of new things to do for every single city,” Swift told the crowd in Singapore in March. “And hope that I’m doing something that you guys might like. It’s been a blast!”

Per the Grammy winner, she “invented [her] crazy acoustic section,” to be able to play “as many songs” as she could way over the 44 staples at each show. Adding TTPD tracks there seems like an easy way to do just that, if you ask Us.

The Tortured Poets Department is out now and Swift’s Eras Tour resumes on Thursday, May 9.

Tim McGraw keeps it breezy, with a touch of soul-searching, at Milwaukee concert

red tour manila setlist

Tim McGraw may be the country music A-list’s most devoted gym rat.

Strolling out on stage in Milwaukee Friday night sporting quite possibly the tightest shirt and jeans ever worn (seriously, his belt buckle must have been holding on for dear life), the 56-year-old McGraw put his impressive fitness regimen to full effect with a high-energy, hour-and-37-minute set.

But by the time he performed his 20th and final number of the night at Fiserv Forum, another distinctive, and even more engaging, attribute emerged: among country music superstars, McGraw may be the chief philosopher.

Not that McGraw’s “Standing Room Only” tour stop ever felt that heavy. He was light on his feet Friday — literally and figuratively — bouncing off the stage, tongue dropping out like Michael Jordan, as he cruised the runway for "Felt Good On My Lips." Screaming at one point “I love my job” with the giddiness of a lottery ticket winner that just quit his 9 to 5, McGraw’s elation heightened the joy of songs like "Something Like That," which sweetly reminisced about a first love, and "Where The Green Grass Grows," where he vividly imagines an idyllic future.

The night was light, but McGraw's stage presence kept it from feeling forgettable. The same goes for the stage production — one of the slickest setups coming out of Music Row — with lasers, crisp animations and effects, and dramatic video walls. McGraw's eight-piece band also made a memorable impression, from Dean Brown's grinning fiddle on "Just to See You Smile," to Billy Nobel's beautiful piano runs for a cover of Elton John's "Tiny Dancer."

But what stood out most at the "Standing Room Only" tour stop were three songs that gently preached, without pretentious self-righteousness, the value of being good to others, of making this world a better place — simple messages, but messages that have become more important as our country seemingly continues to be more divided.

Set closer "Live Like You Were Dying" felt more potent than it did when McGraw made it a hit 20 years ago, as he sang about loving deeper, speaking sweeter, offering forgiveness, and becoming a better husband and friend, in front of footage of heavenly clouds awash in sunset orange.

The tour title track (and title track of his 16th studio album released last year) saw McGraw, over Nobel's gorgeous piano work, poignantly singing about letting go of old regrets, of not letting macho arrogance get in the way of a good laugh or shedding tears. "Stop judging life by my possessions," McGraw sang softly Friday. "Start thinking 'bout how many headlights will be at my procession."

Then there was the song that may go down as the signature in McGraw's highly decorated catalogue, the Lori McKenna-penned "Humble and Kind," with McGraw's be grateful and good message spreading through the arena as fans loudly sang the outro.

"Don't take for granted the love this life gives you/When you get where you're going, don't forget turn back around/And help the next one in line."

And as the music paused, and a beaming McGraw took in the applause with appreciative nods and a tap of his chest, he was as humble as a country superstar impressively rocking an ultra-tight shirt could possibly be.

5 takeaways from Tim McGraw's Milwaukee concert, including openers Carly Pearce and Randall King

  • Anyone who thought Milwaukee had its fill of big country shows for a while clearly don’t know Milwaukee country music fans. It's been less than a week since Luke Combs performed for more than 80,000 people across two nights at American Family Field for his "Growin' Up and Gettin' Old" tour kickoff, but Fiserv Forum was still filled to capacity for McGraw Friday.
  • If you have a Taylor Swift card, you play it. McGraw certainly played his, incorporating his 2013 Swift collaboration "Highway Don't Care" into the setlist, complete with her piped-in vocals and appearance from the music video on the stage's giant screens. After it ended, McGraw smartly encouraged the crowd to cheer for our pop culture overlord.
  • "Yellowstone" spinoff "1883," which stars McGraw, also got a special shout-out via a 90-second sizzle reel on the show's screens that preceded encore kickoff "The Cowboy in Me." Pretty much every McGraw appearance in the clip drew a cheer — especially a scene of him kissing his real-life wife, fellow country star and "1883" co-star Faith Hill in a bathtub. (Hill and McGraw's romance was also documented on the screens as he sang "One Bad Habit" Friday.)
  • Primary opener Carly Pearce's voice was a hair shaky as she belted out "Diamondback" at the start of her set. But she had a whole lot going for her to make up for the initial shortcoming, from smart and strong been-done-wrong songs like "Next Girl" to a polished band and slick lighting that were arena-headline ready — like Pearce herself, eventually. Compensating for some initial struggles with larger-than-life sass, Pearce's voice found its bearings by third song "Easy Going" when she peppered her delivery of "Prince Charming" with a delicious, drawn-out growl.
  • Randall King had an ultra-sparse set-up for his 15-minute night-opening set — no drums, although he made sure there was lap steel. His set started earlier than scheduled, too. Despite these possible setbacks, however, King made a strong impression, especially for twangy and tender original "I Could Be That Rain."
