Use Sign in with Apple on Mac

Sign in with Apple is an easy and private way to sign into apps and websites. It uses your Apple ID to securely create an account with an app or website—no need to fill out a form, verify your email address, or choose a new password—and simplifies signing in each time.

Create an account for an app or website

On your Mac, when you’re asked to create an account for an app or a website, click the button to sign in or continue with Apple, if available.

Follow the onscreen instructions, keeping the following in mind:

If you don’t want to use your real name, click the Name field, then enter a different name.

If you have more than one email address associated with your Apple ID in Apple ID settings, choose which email to use for the app or website.

If you prefer to keep your email address private, click Hide My Email. Apple generates a random and unique email address that’s used to forward emails from the app or website to your real email address.

Sign in to your account for an app or website

On your Mac, click the button to sign in or continue with Apple.

Enter your login password on your Mac (you may need to enter your Apple ID password instead) or, if your Mac or Magic Keyboard has Touch ID , use Touch ID.

You can also sign in from your other devices—iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple TV—where you’re signed in with the same Apple ID .

Change Sign in with Apple settings for an app or website

Click Sign-In & Security on the right, then click Edit next to Apps Using Apple ID.

Click an app or website in the sidebar, then do any of the following:

Turn off forwarding email: Turn off Forward To. You won’t receive any further emails from the app or website.

Stop using Sign in with Apple: Click Stop Using Apple ID. You may be asked to create a new account the next time you try to sign in with the app or website.

Change the address used to forward email from apps and websites

If you chose to hide your email when you created an account for an app or website, and you have more than one email address associated with your Apple ID in Apple ID settings, you can change the address that receives forwarded email. See Use Hide My Email .

Safari Facebook Login

I have a "problem" with Safari when trying to log-in to Facebook. After I insert my credentials and hitting enter, a small window (attached) pops up. When I choose "Leave Page", it brings me to my News Feed. But when I click "Stay on Page", it just stays on the facebook main page however I am unable to log-in after a short period (~20sec). This happened recently and was wondering how to stop it. Usually, it never gave me the option; I just had to put in my credentials then login. Also, in the midst of typing down my credentials, the window shows again if I try to exit the tab. Just to note, it appears to only happen with Safari and Facebook as I tried it on Firefox and Chrome along with other websites and no window ever shows, just smooth login.

This pop-up is a built in alert in all browsers.

But the website itself triggers it.

These steps will clean up Safari little bit more.

1. BackUp your Mac.

2. Quit Safari.

Close all windows and quit all other applications.

Hold "option" key down and click "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.

Library will appear between “Home” and “Computer” entries in the dropdown.

Select "Library" from the dropdown.

Click the “List” view button in the Finder toolbar.

Move these files to trash and test.

3. Scroll down the list, click open the Safari folder, select History files and LastSession.plist

Right click on it and choose “Move to Trash”.

4. Scroll down the list and click open the Saved Application State folder.

You should see the com.apple Safari.savedState folder.

Close Finder window.

Restart and relaunch Safari.

If you have Dashlane installed:

There is a problem with Dashlane if you have updated Safari to Safari 11.1 and using Facebook.

Before you login to Facebook, disable Dashlane.

Safari > Preferences > Extensions > Dashlane

Dashlane is aware of the issue.

I don't see anything that should be causing a problem. Since it is a system wide problem, t ry running the combo update. It installs all previous updates plus the new one, which can replace any files that may have become corrupted.

I don't see anything here that leads to any helpful suggestion.

This is the fourth case I came across in these forums.

One involved Dashboard widget.

Another one involved problem with extensions

I don't know where the problem is coming from. Safari? Facebook?

I would power cycle the router.

Turn off the router, unplug it from the wall, wait a while, plug it back in, turn on the router

and wait until all lights are lit properly before using it.

Only thing I haven't suggested is trying Safari Technology Preview.

Safari Technology Preview is a self standing, easily installable and removable beta version of Safari from Apple.

Honestly I hate asking users to take probably unhelpful steps.

There is something amiss here with Safari and Facebook connection.

Clearing History is like a low level "Reset Safari".

There are other advanced steps, a user can take to fully reset Safari.

Try it if you wish.

I dislike replying in bad news whenever help arrives, but it seems like it keeps on coming. I followed your instructions and none of the files that requires to be deleted are even there. The only files I have are as follows.

From Safari Folder:

• AutoFillCorrections
• Several files beginning with "Cloud"

From Saved Application State Folder:

• Three "com.apple" files but none with Safari
• org.mozilla.firefox

I don't have Dashlane installed. The only extension I have in Safari is AdBlock. Unfortunately, the related link you provided didn't solve the issue as well.

I have a problem with Safari when trying to log-in to Facebook. After I insert my credentials and hitting enter, a small window pops up (“Are you sure you want to leave this page”) giving me two options: “Stay on Page” or “Leave Page”. When I choose "Leave Page", it brings me to my News Feed. But when I click "Stay on Page", it just stays on the facebook main page however I am unable to log-in after a short period. Also, in the midst of typing down my credentials, the window shows again if I try to exit the tab.

1. The ones that frequent the top list in Activity Monitor for CPU is kernel_task, WindowServer, and hidd.

2. In Dashboard, I haven't really played around with that so it's on tis stock settings. Only has Weather, Calculator, Calendar, and Clock.

After entering ID & Password I get the ’Do you want to Stay on this Page or Leave‘ dialogue box. I have to select ‘Leave’ which then takes me to my FB page. Everything then works OK on the FB page except my news feed only pops up two items.......

Sorry for the late reply.

I did the router power cycle the second thing it happened, just to clear off any internet problems there might be but it didn't seem to fix it. Tried it again only to yield the same result. I also gave Safari Technology Preview like you suggested hoping it'll be different, but the result is also the same over there as well.

Like you, I'm actually unsure on what the cause of the problem is. At first I thought it'd be a problem caused by Safari, but then some other people might not experience the problem with their MacBook. But then it can't be Facebook's problem either since it applies only to Safari and not Firefox or Chrome. Hopefully there'll be a clear fix on the next update or something.

Another critical Chrome update has just been issued

Another Chrome security update has just been issued, with the Stable channel updated to 124.0.6367.78/.79 . This release includes a critical fix to the underlying graphics engine of the type that has allowed attackers to execute code on target machines in the past—albeit no news yet as to any exploitation this time around.

The update also includes two high-severity memory fixes—the kind typically seen in such updates. Google has acknowledged that such memory vulnerabilities in its core engine are the most frequently discovered and exploited. As usual, there is no further information “until a majority of users are updated with a fix.”

Given that Google has designated the first fix—essentially a vulnerability to potential code manipulation—as critical, it seems highly likely it’s a credible threat. And once the fix becomes public, it’s important that users update as soon as they can—the clock is ticking for any exploitation.

Usually, a critical fix might have been the biggest Chrome news of the week, but not this time. The other news is that the death of Chrome’s dreaded tracking cookies has been delayed once again—this time into early 2025, at least.

The issue is Google’s need to balance the privacy of its users with the seemingly fair treatment of its advertisers, especially when it essentially plays both gamekeeper (as owner of the browser) and poacher (as the world’s largest ad machine).

“We recognize that there are ongoing challenges related to reconciling divergent feedback from the industry, regulators and developers,” Google said in a post mid-week, “and will continue to engage closely with the entire ecosystem.”

That’s a critical update of an entirely different kind.

The update comes as Google’s ongoing engagement with the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) tries to carve a path through this messy situation. “We will not complete third-party cookie deprecation during the second half of Q4,” Google confirmed. “Assuming we can reach an agreement, we envision proceeding with third-party cookie deprecation starting early next year.”

Google is in something of a bind here, given its unique role in the industry. As web users become ever more privacy savvy, the gap between where Chrome is today and Apple’s Safari remains too wide. Chrome is an excellent browser, and its users rightly want to see it line up more closely with the alternatives.

Google seems to agree—notwithstanding its awkward Incognito Mode stumble—but it needs to find a compromise that doesn’t kill its ad model as well as those cookies.

Meanwhile, the bigger open question is around AI, of course, and just what this will mean for browser searching and advertising in the coming years. All told, by the time these cookies finally disappear, we may be in new territory anyway.

A special segment of adventurous travelers will purposely book itineraries with long connections in layover cities just to leave the airport and explore for a few hours or days between flights.

Airlines have jumped on this growing trend with built-in "stopover" programs, which can come with free or discounted hotels, excursions, transportation, and food at the layover destination.

It's basically a vacation within a vacation.

Although it sounds too good to be true, stopovers benefit everyone involved. Travelers get more choices and don't have to be confined to an airport, airlines gain customers who may have otherwise chosen a nonstop option on a competitor, and the carrier's home country sees a boost in tourism.

Plus, the cheap or complimentary accommodations typically come at a small cost to airlines, thanks to partnerships with local hotels or tour companies.

Not all stopover programs are structured with an emphasis on tourism, though, as some were created simply to offer conveniences during long layovers. Still, they are a way to secure a free hotel and explore an extra city.

Here are 22 global airline stopover programs, each lasting anywhere from hours to months.

Many carriers allow stopovers to be added to a regular cash booking, but some are only available via award tickets . This means the flight was paid for using points/miles or a combination of points/miles and cash.

Air Canada has a stopover option built into its Aeroplan loyalty program. It allows customers booking award flights to add a stop on international journeys and explore practically any city the airline flies to outside the US and Canada.

The add-on costs 5,000 Aeroplan points each way and can only be booked if the stop is at least 24 hours, capping out at 45 days.

Air France/KLM

Air France and Dutch carrier KLM's Flying Blue loyalty program offers a stopover of 24 hours or more in a connecting city on either carrier or their airline partners.

The option is free to add to award tickets, and passengers can stay up to a year in the stopover city.

China Southern Airlines

China Southern Airlines offers a free one-night hotel stay for transfer passengers with connection times lasting between six and 30 hours, though there are some time and route restrictions.

Breakfast and transportation are included for eligible travelers.

Copa Airlines

Copa Airlines' Panama stopover program allows customers to spend anywhere from 24 hours to seven days in the nation's capital, Panama City, on their outbound or return trip.

The option is free for the first stopover, but a second stopover can cost up to $250 plus taxes. Copa offers discounted hotels and tours that can be booked via its stopover website.

Emirates allows a stopover in Dubai with the option to add discounted tours or hotel bookings to the itinerary via its website.

The UAE carrier also has a " Dubai Connect " program that gives passengers with layovers between 6 and 26 hours, depending on the cabin, a complimentary hotel, transfers, meals, and any needed visa.

Dubai Connect only triggers if the customer takes the next available flight. Essentially, you can't intentionally book a longer layover to quality for the free stopover hotel.

Ethiopian Airlines

Ethiopian Airlines' transit program gives customers flying via Addis Ababa a free hotel, transit visa, and transfers during layovers lasting between eight and 24 hours.

The hotel on the airline's website is the Ethiopian Skylight In-Terminal Hotel, located inside the airport.

Etihad Airways

Etihad Airways offers a stopover in its Abu Dhabi hub, which comes with an undisclosed discount at select three-star hotels for up to two nights.

Two and four-night stays can be booked at more luxurious four and five-star hotels at a 40% discount. The minimum stay is 24 hours.

Although Etihad's website says it is temporarily unavailable, the airline used to allow eligible travelers to use a so-called Transit Connect Package that provided a free hotel near the airport for layovers lasting 10 to 24 hours. It is unclear when or if the program is returning.

Fiji Airways

Fiji Airways offers a stopover program in Fiji for those traveling to and from Australia, New Zealand, and other South Pacific nations.

Hotels and activities like ziplining and beach resorts can be booked through the airline as part of the stopover package.

Finnair allows passengers to book 6, 12, or 24-hour layovers in Helsinki at no additional fare charge and outlines itinerary ideas and information on its website , like transportation, free walking tours, and restaurants.

Customers can book a hotel through the airline and earn Finnair Plus points.

Iberia customers can plan a stopover in Madrid to or from an international destination for one to six nights at no extra cost.

Discounts on hotels, excursions, and transfers in the Spanish capital are available through Iberia.

Latam Airlines offers stopovers for between one and three days on flights that connect in São Paulo, Brasilia, Fortaleza, Recife, Manaus, Curitiba, and Belem. Only international itineraries that connect in São Paulo.

Hotels and amenities can be booked via Latam, but the stopover booking is free.

Oman Air offers customizable stopover packages to give travelers time to explore the country's capital, Muscat, and beyond. An additional fare charge may be applicable, though the airline does not fly to the US.

Packages and a-la-carte options include discounted hotels for up to three nights, as well as organized tours, meals, and transfers.

Australian flag carrier Qantas offers its stopovers in a similar manner to JAL in that multi-city bookings can be manipulated to add extra days between flights in layover cities, like Bangkok, Osaka, or San Francisco.

This comes at no extra cost on eligible Qantas fares and can be used on its Oneworld partner airlines.

Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways' stopover program allows passengers with a minimum layover of 12 hours and up to 24 hours to choose from a list of deeply discounted four and five-star hotels. Certain flight itineraries allow for up to four nights.

Nightly hotel rates start at $14 per person for 1 night at four-star standard hotels, with premium five-star beach hotels starting at $30 per person for one night.

Royal Jordanian Airlines

Royal Jordanian Airlines' transit program gives economy and business-class travelers with at least eight and six-hour layovers, respectively, a free hotel room, meals, and transit, assuming certain fare conditions are met.

However, the connecting flight must be the earliest possible — meaning, similar to Emirates, passengers can't intentionally book a longer layover to be eligible for the complimentary perks.

Swiss International Air Lines

Swiss International Air Lines, or SWISS, has a multi-city stopover booking tool on its website that allows passengers to find itineraries with extra days in Switzerland.

The cost of hotels and other perks is on the customer, though.

Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines' stopover program is available via the multi-city tool, similar to other carriers, where travelers can add hotels, transfers, and activities. The stopover can last one to seven days.

Singapore also offers free transit tours to passengers with layover times between five and a half and 24 hours at Singapore's Changi Airport. It's first-come, first-serve and includes sightseeing around Singapore.

TAP Air Portugal

TAP Air Portugal allows customers to add a stopover in Lisbon or Porto between one and 10 days, offering discounts on hotels, food, and activities.

It also offers 25% off a domestic flight to a second Portuguese destination, like the Azores or Madeira islands, to take during the stopover.

Turkish Airlines

Turkish Airlines' stopover program gives economy travelers a one-night free hotel stay and business flyers a two-night free stay if the period between their connecting flights in Istanbul exceeds 20 hours.

Those traveling from the US in economy class can stay up to two nights in a four-star hotel, while those traveling in business can stay up to three nights in a five-star hotel.
