Sights of Elektrostal: the history of the city, what to see, photos and reviews

2024 Author : Harold Hamphrey | [email protected] . Last modified: 2023-12-17 10:06

Elektrostal is a fairly large industrial city, which is located near the Vokhonka River and almost 40-50 km from the eastern part of Moscow. There are a lot of powerful factories here, where many residents of Elektrostal work. They are perfectly combined with the most beautiful green boulevards, streets and parks, bright lawns and flower beds that adorn almost the entire town. It is picturesque due to amazing reservoirs and forests. It is worth learning more about the main attractions of Elektrostal, photos of which are in the article.

The city was founded in 1916 thanks to the construction of a metallurgical plant. Previously, this place was the natural boundary of Calm. To start construction, the labor of local peasants was used. In the middle of 1925 herebuilt the first railway line that connected Elektrostal with Moscow. After the onset of 1938, the village turned into a separate city.

It is noteworthy that during the Great Patriotic War, the Electrostal plants produced ammunition that was needed for victory. In particular, it is worth noting the production of the legendary Katyushas.

A new stage for the factories of the city began after the invention of atomic weapons. The local plant was on the list of the main production facilities of the nuclear industry. This led to the fact that in 1954 the production of fuel was launched, which was used for the operation of nuclear power plants.

In 1963, the cultural center "October" was built, and this was done by the masters of the Novo-Kramatorsky plant, named after Stalin. It featured a spacious auditorium that could seat more than 850 people, as well as a unique revolving stage for actors to change scenery in seconds.

At different times, eminent creative groups performed in this cultural center, as well as the Beryozka ensemble, famous at that time. It is noteworthy that even in our time the cultural center is actively functioning, and the square in front of it is considered the most beautiful place in Elektrostal with fountains operating in the summer. In mid-2013, it received the status of a city of labor and military glory.

There are many numerous monuments in the city that tell about the history of this amazing place: a monument to Nikolai Vtorov -the founder of the famous plant "Elektrostal" near the House of Culture, a monument to Tevosyan - the chief engineer, monuments to M. Gorky and K. Marx, a sculpture "Steelworker", a monument to Korneev - Hero of the Soviet Union, as well as a memorial and a monument to soldiers who died in Afghanistan and on North Caucasus.

This is a fairly large and old factory in the city that specializes in the production of fuel for local gas stations. The plant is part of the structure of the company FC "TVEL" of the state corporation "Rosatom". The General Director of the enterprise is O. L. Sedelnikov.

This plant produces nuclear fuel, which is used by many nuclear power plants, transport power plants and research reactors, not only in Russia, but also in other European countries. The company has quality certificates OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001.

The museum of the plant presents its history, shows old photographs of the streets of the city, there are achievements of workers, as well as photos of significant people, there are many of the most interesting models produced at the machine-building plant. It also stores presentations showing the principles of the enterprise.

This temple - a landmark of Elektrostal - is a single-dome centric church, which is made in the style of Byzantine times. It was erected in the 20th century, in the immediate vicinity of St. Andrew's Church. The temple was designed by T. V. Trubnikov and V. A. Drozdov, according to the developments of which the iconostasis and interior were exactly designed.

The church plays the role of a baptismal church and belongs to the Moscow diocese. The main shrines of the church are the most ancient and valuable icons of Nikandor Gorodnoyezersky and the Great Martyr Panteleimon. In addition, particles of the relics of saints are kept here. Divine services are held in the temple only during religious holidays.

The local park - a landmark of Elektrostal is an ideal place where everyone can stay alone with nature, ride numerous attractions, and also spend time playing slot machines. The park is especially popular in the summer - it is full of families, youth companies and couples in love.

Especially for the summer in 2013, the park was re-planned, which made it possible to accommodate more modern entertainment and interesting playgrounds for young visitors. Swimmers will love the dragon and swans, and trampolines have been installed for more active children.

It is noteworthy that the prices in the local park are quite affordable: the cost of a ticket for various attractions ranges from 30-100 rubles. Today it is called "Wonder Park", and it is divided into a quieter "Quiet Alley" and "Entertainment Alley", where there is an inexpensive cafe, a summer stage, and also quite a lot ofattractions.

sights of electrostal

This cinema is very popular, so it can be called a landmark of Elektrostal. It is located in the shopping center "Elgrad" and consists of 5 spacious halls that can accommodate more than 800 people. To show 2D and 3D films, only modern equipment is used: Dolby Digital Surround EX and MasterImage acoustics, as well as huge screens with a special coating. In all cinema halls, very comfortable conditions for visitors were created: climate control and soft chairs.

In the foyer of the Cinema Gallery there is a play area, a fairly spacious cafe, fast food establishments (Suneki, Tashir-pizza, Rostiks, Kebab-tun, etc.) and popcorn- bar. This is an attractive local leisure center, where the residents of Elektrostal are shown all the latest cinema.

This is a whole complex where you can spend your free time pleasantly and profitably. In addition to the playgrounds, which are fully equipped for playing laser tag and paintball, guests are invited to visit a local cafe where delicious home-cooked dishes are prepared, a banquet menu, karaoke, as well as a relaxing sauna with a warm font.

What do tourists who have visited the city say? It is not tourist, but industrial. Attractions are quite specific, but overall interesting. Tourists were pleased with low prices.

Looking at the photo of the sights of the city of Elektrostal, you may want to go there and spendunforgettable weekend.

Gilmore Girls alum Lauren Graham hosted a Q&A Friday during her Have I Told You This Already? book tour. Speaking to an audience at the Lincoln Theater in Washington, D.C., the discussion turned to her friendship with the late Matthew Perry .

“It’s still really hard to believe,” Graham said of Perry’s death.

Perry died at age 54 in his Los Angeles-area home on Oct. 28, 2023 from ketamine use that led to his drowning in a hot tub.

“He’s like really into tennis and pickleball, with a card that said, ‘Be older,’ ” she said, calling his death “a terrible loss.”

A photo of Perry and Graham appeared in his 2022 memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing. “Me and the beautiful Lauren Graham,” the caption read.

Graham that Perry was proud of how his confessional book was received.

“The solace I take from having seen him at the time I saw him was he was so thrilled with how his book was received — and not just because it was a huge success, but because his life’s work kind of became, ‘How can I give back? How to find the right gym for you — at the right price

7 things to keep in mind when shopping for a gym membership.

the tour cafe

Whether you are starting a new exercise regimen, coming back from an injury, or have relocated, finding a gym or health club that fits your needs and budget takes an investment of time, energy and, of course, money. It’s not unlike buying a car: You need to search for the best deal, take advantage of promotions, test drive several options and sift through the contractual fine print.

The fitness industry is moving away from its self-inflicted reputation of treating clients as marks and always upselling, but it’s still important to do your homework to find the right fit for you. “The best gym or studio should be an environment you want to return to and feel comfortable in within your price point,” says Sarah Luna, president of Xponential , a franchise of boutique fitness brands including Club Pilates and Pure Barre.

Here’s what to consider before committing to a fitness facility.

Learn about the options

Depending on where you live, you may find one or more supersize chains, luxury amenity-filled clubs, independently owned gyms and/or specialty (such as Pilates or barre) studios. Before shopping around, figure out which type of environment will help you meet your personal fitness goals. Then, make a list of your must-have amenities (a dedicated cardio area, free weights, a private studio, a swimming pool, on-site child care, a locker room, showers, sauna, etc.) to help you narrow your options.

Prioritize convenience

Ideally your fitness facility will be within five miles — or a 10- to 15-minute drive — from home or work. Anything farther increases the chances of logistical issues (think: traffic) that can keep you from getting there. Search online for fitness, barre, Pilates or gym + near me to identify the closest options, Luna says.

Hours also matter, says Bryce Henson, CEO of Fit Body Boot Camp . Look at the general operating hours as well as how late and early classes are offered, and whether there are weekend sessions. If the only class you’re interested in is at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays, can you make that work with your schedule? Ask front desk staff about how easy it is to book a spot in classes and gauge their reaction. “You want classes and a schedule that can be built into your routine,” Luna says. “If you can’t get into the ones you want, likely this isn’t the place for you.”

Take a tour

Once you’ve narrowed your list, tour your top options, with an eye toward the look and feel of each place. First impressions count, says Nick Barshick, chief operating officer for Chuze Fitness , a chain of nearly 60 centers across the West, South and Southeast. Is the facility clean and well-maintained? Is equipment wiped down after each use? Is the equipment dated or out of order? No detail is too small. Check lockers and restrooms, as well as the exercise studios and child-care space. Also consider safety. Visit before sunrise or after dusk to see the lighting in the parking lot and building, as well as how far you have to walk to the entrance.

Sample before you commit

Any reputable business should allow you to take some classes or try out the facility at no cost. If a gym won’t do this, consider it a red flag and look elsewhere. Planet Fitness offers a one-day pass, while 24 Hour Fitness lets you test a facility for three days, and Chuze offers a seven-day trial. A free trial allows you to get a realistic idea of how the place operates. How does the staff make you feel? Do instructors welcome new students to classes? Is the place quiet or mobbed at the time you are most likely to attend? Most important: Do you feel out of place or like you’re part of an inclusive community?

Ask about deals and promotions

When asked if they offer any special rates, “the answer will always be ‘yes,’” at pretty much any gym, Barshick says. But generally speaking, the best deals are offered in January, followed by the summer. You may also find some sale prices over Black Friday. Also ask if the facility offers any incentives, perks or discounts if you refer friends or family, Henson says.

Be leery of long-term contracts

“If an outfit wants a three months or longer contract, that’s a red flag to me, because it likely comes with a cancellation fee,” Henson says. “I like a low barrier of six weeks or less.” The best deals, Luna says, are programs that ask for a 60- to 90-day commitment to start, then shift to a month-to-month membership or offer class packs — say 10 passes that can be used over a three-month period.

Read the fine print

Look over your contract carefully to make sure you understand all of the policies. It should be easy to cancel. Some gyms still require 30 days notice to cancel a membership, while others offer immediate cancellation through their online portal or app. Also make note of any penalties for terminating early. Some facilities charge a flat cancellation fee, while others may ding you for an additional month.

Don’t be surprised by an annual fee of $40 to $60. This is industry practice for most high-value, low-price gym chains such as Planet Fitness, Crunch, 24 Hour Fitness and Chuze. The rationale is that consumers seem to prefer paying a low monthly rate plus an annual fee to paying slightly more each month, with no annual fee.

“Add up all the fees you pay and divide by 12 so you know what you are actually paying per month,” Barshick says. Also, watch out for any hidden charges, such as processing fees, towel service fees, locker rental or an automatic monthly increase after the first year.

UPSTATE BUSINESS JOURNAL

360 degree tour: Play Cafe opens at Judson Mill

  • Tiare-Leiana Solis
  • April 1, 2024

Play Cafe

Play Cafe opened to the public on March 20.

When the Upstate Business Journal caught up with Judson Mill’ s indoor play facility earlier in 2024, the latest Judson Mill addition was still a work in progress.

Business partners Austin Motes and Daniel Kingsbury were just two dads who realized there needed to be a safe place for kids to play that could also be an enjoyable, stress-free experience for their parents and caregivers. And so, Play Cafe was born.

Related: Judson Mill’s dual eatery: What to expect at Mill City Kitchen, Mill City Wine

“It’s a playground where you could actually do some work. Check your email, get a cup of coffee and let the kids play,” Motes said. “You can come and go, as long as we’re not meeting our max capacity.”

“We wanted to gear it all towards the parent or the caregiver.”

Now the idea is officially in the physical realm.

Motes and Kingsbury are Upstate natives but they searched the southeast as a whole for inspiration for the project, as well as materials which were sourced out of Florida and Kentucky.

Before and after

the tour cafe

The concept is part indoor playground, part cafe, part event space. The crown jewels are the massive climb-and-slide structures, one of which stands roughly two stories high.

The shorter structure is focused toward kids 6 and under, and the taller structure is targeted toward kids 7 and up.

Surrounding the structures are imagination stations where kids can imagine themselves as veterinarians, firefighters, construction workers, or as a patron in a coffee shop or barista.

The perimeter includes seating areas for parents, as well as rentable rooms for parties and other events.

Take a photo tour of Play Cafe

Food and drink

Baked goods and beverages are available now. More food options will be added as the kitchen appliances come in, including pizza and sandwiches. Motes said vegetarian options will be available, and that the menu will include about 10 staple offerings along with some seasonal rotations.

Alcoholic drinks will not be sold directly through the cafe but adult guests can bring in beers or glasses of wine from neighboring Magnetic South Brewing or the soon-to-open Mill City Wine as long as it is in a plastic cup.

Play Cafe at Judson Mill is located at 701 Easley Bridge Road, Unit 6040 in West Greenville. It is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Tiger Woods listed on Masters interview schedule

Change Text Size

On Friday, Augusta National released the pre-tournament interview schedule for next week’s Masters Tournament. Tiger Woods is listed among those scheduled to speak, giving the clearest indication yet that Woods plans to play in this year’s Masters.

Woods’ health and ability to walk the multiple miles in a round of golf can change rapidly, but the signs are pointing to another Masters appearance. Flight-tracking sites on social media showed Woods’ jet flying to Augusta’s airport last week for a presumed pre-tournament practice session. Now Woods is scheduled to speak to the media Tuesday at 11 a.m. ET. Woods has not spoken publicly since The Genesis Invitational.

Woods last completed an official PGA TOUR event at the 2023 Genesis Invitational. Though he made the cut in last year’s Masters to tie the tournament record for consecutive cuts made, he had to withdraw before the tournament’s conclusion because of plantar fasciitis. He had a subtalar fusion shortly after, sidelining him until the Hero World Challenge in December.

The full pre-tournament press conference schedule for the Masters is listed below (all times ET):

Monday, April 8:

  • 2 p.m.: Brian Harman
  • 2:30 p.m.: Jasper Stubbs and Santiago De La Fuente
  • 3 p.m.: Hideki Matsuyama
  • 3:30 p.m.: Xander Schauffele

Tuesday, April 9:

  • 9:30 a.m.: Viktor Hovland
  • 10 a.m.: Jon Rahm
  • 11 a.m.: Tiger Woods
  • 12:30 p.m.: Rory McIlroy
  • 1 p.m.: Ludvig Åberg
  • 1:30 p.m.: Wyndham Clark
  • 2:30 p.m.: Jordan Spieth
  • 3 p.m.: Scottie Scheffler
  • 3:30 p.m.: Brooks Koepka

Wednesday, April 10:

  • 11 a.m.: Fred Ridley

Thursday, April 11:

  • 8 a.m.: Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Tom Watson

It’s a stacked lineup of the game’s best, but Woods is the highlight, as he often is at Augusta.

Few things are more synonymous than Woods and Augusta National, and the Masters has had a way of framing every era of Woods’ dominant career. His runaway 12-shot victory in 1997 cemented Woods’ arrival as a generational star. His win in 2001 marked his second consecutive at Augusta National. It capped the “Tiger Slam,” as Woods held all four major championship titles concurrently, one of the most impressive achievements in modern sports history. Woods won the Masters again in 2005, which started a streak of seven straight top-six finishes at the event. He won 31 times on the PGA TOUR in those seven years. Woods’ remarkable victory at the 2019 Masters was a late-career revelation that embodied the superstar’s ethos, once again achieving the unthinkable after numerous injuries cast doubt on whether Woods could climb to the top of the mountain again.

Tiger Woods comments after winning the Masters

He’s in a similar place as the calendar flips to Masters week. Woods pulled out of The Genesis Invitational after his tee shot on the seventh hole of his second round. Woods has said walking is not the issue and his surgically repaired right ankle is pain-free . That hasn’t left his whole body without pain, though. It’s just moved to different places.

Tiger Woods' interview after Round 1 of Genesis

“Other parts of my body have to take the brunt of it,” Woods said at Riviera. “Just like my back is fused so other parts of my body have taken the brunt of that. I have two different body parts that are now fused. Yeah, other parts of the body have to adapt.''

Woods will be adapting to his new reality at Augusta National. He has not accumulated the competitive reps he craves as he turns his attention toward the Masters. However, Sports Illustrated’s Bob Harig reported that Woods was at Augusta National for a scouting trip and played the course with Chairman Fred Ridley and Justin Thomas last week.

If there were a place Woods might not need competitive reps, it would be Augusta. Woods has made the cut in 24 of 25 starts, with 14 top 10s.

The golf world will watch Woods’ return closely, hoping the 15-time major champion can rekindle magic at Augusta National again.
