Which players are going on Tottenham’s USA Tour? Full squad confirmed

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed which of their players are today heading to the USA to take part in our pre-season tour of the States.

The players will be put through their paces in three friendly matches as part of the International Champions Cup, facing AS Roma (July 25), Barcelona (July 28) and AC Milan (July 31).

There are some obvious notable omissions from the squad, due to World Cup involvement for the likes of Harry Kane, Kieran Tripper, Danny Rose, Eric Dier, Dele Alli, Hugo Lloris, Mousa Dembele, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.

However, this presents an opportunity for some of Tottenham’s young talent to prove to Mauricio Pochettino and the coaching staff that they deserve an opportunity. For the Marcus Edwards-obsessed among you, he is not on the plane.

According to the Athletic , Tottenham Hotspur are considering joining the new pre-season tournament that is being planned in the USA to take these one-off games to the next level.

Premier League clubs touring America for the pre-season is not new. In fact, most top European teams love travelling across the Atlantic for their pre-season games which are usually one-offs.

It is great exposure for the Premier League in American countries. These games usually see a huge turn up and have a lot of support as many people there follow European football and would not miss the chance to come and watch them.

Arsenal, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus were some of the biggest names in football who toured the US before the beginning of this campaign and these games saw huge attendances.

In a bid to make these games even more appealing and more exciting than one-offs, there is a plan to introduce a tournament format pre-season in the USA and they are trying to bring together the big six from the Premier League.

It makes sense on quite a few levels and whenever a tournament format is introduced to something, it gives teams the added edge of playing for something although it is just a pre-season tour.

For example, Manchester United won the Bangkok Cup by beating Liverpool in the pre-season and it would have given them good energy and the perfect atmosphere to settle down under a new manager like Erik ten Hag.

Tottenham are said to be considering the option of joining this tournament should it be formalised. Chelsea are another name who seem close to agreeing to this, which is understandable considering they have American owners.

It was a season that promised so much, but 2022/23 was a campaign of misery and toxicity on the Lilywhite side of north London.

Antonio Conte is long gone and following a rather lengthy managerial search that threatened to mirror the embarrassment of 2021, Ange Postecoglou was chosen as the man to lead a much-needed rebuild.

Only time will tell whether Spurs were right to gamble on the Australian coach, but many believe big Ange was a risk the club had to take. Following years of pragmatism in the post-Poch world, Tottenham may well be worth a watch again.

Nevertheless, pre-season is massive for the new boss in terms of implementing his alien ideals onto a group of players drilled in the art of counter-attacking and preserving slender advantages. It's a massive summer for Ange and here's what the club has planned ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

Tottenham revealed back in March their Asia-Pacific pre-season tour would include a fixture against London rivals West Ham in Perth, Australia. Spurs fans got their first taste of 'Ange-ball' in a 3-2 defeat to the Europa Conference League winners.

Lapses at the back saw Danny Ings and Divin Mubama put the Hammers 2-0 up before Spurs came back to level things up in the second half as Giovani Lo Celso and Dennis Udogie netted within three minutes of each other. However, Gianluca Scamacca raced clear to put West Ham ahead again at 3-2 .

Postecoglou's homecoming was followed by the club's first-ever visit to Thailand where they were scheduled to face Leicester - James Maddison's former club - in Bangkok. However, it was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch and adverse weather conditions.

Spurs were due to take on Roma three days later in Singapore but there will be no reunion with former boss Jose Mourinho as the Italian side have pulled out. Lion City Sailors, currently third in the Singapore Premier League, have filled the void.

Spurs will then host Shakhtar Donetsk in north London in a match that will raise funds for the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine caused by Russia's aggression in war.

The summer friendly schedule will be wrapped up in Catalonia against Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy, due to be played at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

Tottenham named a squad for their tour to Asia and Australia and left out club captain Hugo Lloris, who is exploring transfer opportunities in a bid to leave the club.

Tottenham Hotspur set off this week on their tour of the USA to take on top class opposition during three matches in the International Champions Cup.

Spurs take on Ligue 1 outfit PSG, Italian giants Roma and a Manchester City side containing a certain Kyle Walker during their time across the Atlantic.

It will be a great chance for Tottenham 's US fans to get to see the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Hugo Lloris and some of the up and coming young players with the club looking to actively get their stars out and about in the various cities to help spread the Spurs brand across North America.

Here are all the details we currently know about the tour:

The Spurs squad and staff will fly out on Wednesday, arriving in Orlando the same day. After a day of settling in, the team will then be holding an open training session at the ESPN World Wide of Sports, in Kissimmee, not far from the Disney theme parks on Friday between 10am and 11.30pm (local time).

Later that day the club are hoping to have a handful of Spurs stars meeting fans out and about in Orlando, although the time and location are yet to be decided.

That evening from 7pm there will be a Orlando Spurs Supporters' Club Evening with special guest Ledley King at McGinnty's Irish Pub in Hansel Ave, Orlando. Anyone interested in attending should email [email protected]

Then Saturday brings the match against PSG at the Camping World Stadium. Ahead of the game, between 4pm and 7.30pm, will be a Tailgate Party at the ground with a live DJ, free food and drinks, skills coaches, Chirpy and plenty of prizes on offer.

Kick off for the match is 8pm local time (1am UK time). The team will fly out the next morning after the game.

Tottenham arrive in New York on Sunday and are hoping to get players out in the Big Apple later that day if possible.

That evening, starting at 8pm, Ledley King will again be talking to fans at the New York Supporters' Club Evening at Flannery's Bar in West 14th Street. To attend, email [email protected]

Monday is expected to bring more player appearances at famous New York landmarks, including the High Line, ahead of another open training session at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey between 6pm and 7.30pm. Details on watching the session can be found here .

The next day sees Spurs return to the same arena for their match against Roma. Kick off is 8pm local time (again 1am UK time). Ahead of the game, a fan zone at the stadium will provide a similar experience to the Tailgate Party in Orlando.

The players arrive in Tennessee on Wednesday July 26 as they look to continue to spread the Tottenham Hotspur word.

The following day, a handful of Spurs stars will get out and about in the city to mix with the fans during the afternoon, with details to be confirmed.

Friday brings plenty to do as the team take part in their third open training session at the Nissan Stadium in Nashville. The session takes place between 4pm and 5.30pm and again attendance can be registered here .

Later that day is a third and final supporters' evening with Ledley King, this time at the Wildhorse Saloon in Second Avenue North, Nashville. Fans can simply come along on the night to enjoy that one.

On Saturday is the final match of the tour as Spurs take on familiar opponents in Manchester City and their new even more familiar right-back Kyle Walker.

In the morning from 9am-12pm is a supporters clubs’ five-a-side tournament at 720 Mainstream Drive, Nashville. All 16 team positions have been filled but fans are welcome to come along and watch.

Ahead of the main game is another fan zone before the game kicks off at 5pm local time (11pm UK time) at the Nissan Stadium. The Spurs squad fly home later that night.

Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season tour begins on July 18 - get full schedule

Tottenham Hotspur have roped in English playmaker James Maddison ahead of their 2023 pre-season tour.

Tottenham Hotspur will be keen to get a strong pre-season under their belt before the start of their 2023-24 Premier League campaign .

Spurs had a below-par season last time around after they finished eighth in the Premier League standings and missed out on European football.

They will be eager to make amends in the upcoming campaign and will travel to Asia-Pacific for their pre-season tour 2023 .

The north London club will begin their pre-season tour by travelling to Australia for a friendly against West Ham United at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Tuesday, July 18.

After facing off against their London rivals in Australia, Spurs will then jet off to the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand to face Leicester City on Sunday, July 23.

Their next stop will be another Asian country in Singapore where Spurs will take on Italian club AS Roma at the Singapore National Stadium on Wednesday, July 26.

Tottenham’s match against Roma will conclude their pre-season tour to Asia, however, they will return to England and play one more game before the start of the 2023-24 Premier League campaign.

Once back in England, Tottenham Hotspur will welcome Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Sunday, August 6 for their final pre-season game, which will be exactly one week prior to their first Premier League encounter of the season against Brentford.

Ahead of pre-season, Spurs have roped in playmaker James Maddison to their squad, while the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Davinson Sanchez look destined to leave the club.

Premier League plans U.S. preseason tournament in 2023

The Premier League is planning to organize a new preseason tournament in the United States next summer. The Athletic is reporting that England’s top flight will finally be able to arrange a competition Stateside after years of planning.

Premier League officials have supposedly been wanting to bring meaningful matches to certain U.S. markets for years now. The COVID-19 pandemic previously threw a wrench into these plans. While organizers have initially expressed interest in playing regular season games across the pond, it appears as if a preseason tournament will have to suffice.

Although not fully fleshed out just yet, the previous aforementioned report suggests that the tournament could feature six Premier League clubs. This format would consist of three teams in two separate groups. Clubs would then face other teams inside their group in a round-robin format.

This tournament would take place in multiple cities throughout the country. Ticket sales for these potential games would certainly not be an issue and a majority of the matches would most likely sell out.

Premier League preseason tournament

There would also be huge interest in sponsorships and broadcasting rights as well. Estimates over potential profits for the league are still unclear. However, expect a large revenue to come for the Premier League.

Timing of the tournament could also be perfect. Currently, there is no major international tournament during the summer of 2023. FIFA scheduled the 2022 World Cup for the winter. Also, UEFA and CONMEBOL are now on the same schedule for the Euros and Copa America. Those tournaments occur in 2024. Therefore, organizers hope that these games would feature the best players on each club.

As of now, 14 of the 20 Premier League clubs reportedly expressed interest in the tournament. It is currently unclear which teams have inquired. Yet, organizers certainly hope ‘Big Six’ teams play. Those traditional teams are Arsenal , Chelsea , Liverpool , Manchester City , Manchester United , and Tottenham .

There is, however, apparent optimism in getting at least one of these major clubs involved in the tournament. If fully organized, the preseason competition would most likely occur in late July.

Here’s a look at absolutely everything you need to know about Tottenham’s pre-season tour for summer 2024.

Tottenham are making preparations for the 2024/25 Premier League season, with their summer 2024 pre-season tour.

Spurs set up an Asia-Pacific tour for summer 2023, with Ange Postecoglou showing off the early work with his style of play.

A clash with West Ham played out in Australia, before disruption hit the tour, with matches against Leicester City and AS Roma unable to go ahead.

They instead faced Lion City Sailors in Singapore, before a match against Shakhtar Donetsk at home and then a final faceoff with Barcelona in Catalonia.

Postecoglou will certainly be hopeful that there’s less disruption this time around, as he prepares his side for the upcoming campaign.

With that said, here’s a look at everything you need to know about the Tottenham pre-season 2024 campaign.

Where is Tottenham’s pre-season tour 2024 taking place?

As of 25/04/2024 , Tottenham are yet to confirm all of their pre-season plans for the coming summer. However, according to The Athletic , the club are set to tour Asia once again, while Football London claims that three games will be played on the continent, with two of those in South Korea.

When will Tottenham’s pre-season 2024 begin?

So far, as of 25/04/2024 , there is no confirmation on when Tottenham’s pre-season tour for 2024 will begin.

The Premier League season kicks off on 17 August, 2024. It means that the tour is likely to take place in July.

Tottenham pre-season 2024 tour fixtures

As of 25/04/2024 , Tottenham have confirmed two pre-season fixtures for the summer of 2024.

Spurs will make the trip to Japan in July as they have announced a pre-season clash with current J1 League champions Vissel Kobe.

The match between the two teams will take place on 27 July, at the Japan National Stadium, and marks 33 years since the Lilywhites last visited Japan.

Tottenham will then host Bayern Munich at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, August 10, in the Visit Malta Cup as their final friendly before beginning league action.

It means a reunion with Harry Kane and Eric Dier is set to be on the cards for Spurs come the summer.

As of 27/03/2024 , Tottenham have confirmed ticket details for their clash with Bayern Munich at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tickets go on sale on 02/04/2024 to 2023/24 season ticket holders and One Hotspur members.

Those who are able to purchase the tickets can buy up to four, with adults priced at £30 and under-18s priced at £10.

Tottenham have not announced any official information about their upcoming pre-season tour yet. With the Premier League's 2024/25 campaign kicking off on August 17th, it is expected that the North Londoners summer camp will take place in July.

Meanwhile, several reports suggest that Ange Postecoglou's side are planning to return to Asia again, with three matches scheduled on the continent, including two in South Korea. Bayern Munich could be one of the potential opponents of the English outfit.

Tottenham pre-season 2023/24 results

The North Londoners faced Premier League rivals West Ham United at Optus Stadium on Tuesday 18 July 2023. Ange Postecoglou's side faced a 3 - 2 defeat to the opponents, with Danny Ings, Divin Mubama and Gianluca Scamacca scoring the winning goals for their side.

Spurs' game against Leicester City was canceled, while the club faced Lion City on Wednesday 26 July during this summer’s Asia-Pacific Tour 2023. They celebrated an impressive 5 - 1 win over the opponents.

Afterward, the Premier League side played Shakhtar Donetsk on August 6 and then headed to Spain to face FC Barcelona in the Joan Gamper trophy at the Montjuïc on August 8.

Tottenham Hotspur is heading back to the USA this summer.

Spurs have announced that for the second-straight year they will spend preseason Stateside, with Mauricio Pochettino’s men to be part of the International Champions Cup.

Tottenham played in New York, Orlando and Nashville last summer as they faced AS Roma, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City in ICC action.

It is not known where and when Spurs will be playing Stateside, but more details will emerge as to the dates of their games and training camp in the USA.

Tottenham’s chairman Daniel Levy had the following to say about the upcoming tour.

“This summer’s tour will be the sixth time in nine years that we have toured the US and we are all excited to be returning again later this year. Our following in North America has grown considerably during this time with the number of Official Supporters Clubs alone more than quadrupling. We are grateful to have such strong support in the US and we are fully aware of the sacrifices they make to watch us play at any hour of the day. We look forward to showing them our appreciation when we visit this summer.

With both Manchester City and Manchester United already confirming they will head to the U.S this summer to prepare for the 2018-19 campaign, plus releasing some initial dates for games, it is also believed that Liverpool will be heading to the USA but no official confirmation has arrived from the Anfield club.

Reports suggest Liverpool will play against Man United in “the Big House” in Michigan with over 107,000 fans expected.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Arsenal, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Benfica, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid are all confirmed for ICC games this summer, but it is unsure how many of those teams will be in the U.S. as previous editions of the ICC has seen games played in Australia and the Far East.

Dortmund, Man United, Man City, Bayern and Spurs are the five teams who have so far confirmed their participation in games in the USA.

Tickets for our home games are unlikely to get to General Sale and are often only available for our One Hotspur Members.

Becoming a One Hotspur Member  gives you access to ticket priority, the option to purchase via Ticket Exchange and a variety of exclusive benefits. Members can only purchase one ticket per membership for each fixture. Please note, if you have an access requirement and are already on our  Disability Access Scheme , you will still need a membership to take advantage of our priority on sales, and benefits.

Ticket Exchange is the Club’s official online resale platform which gives  Season Ticket Holders and Premium Members the ability to sell their designated seat  at face value to a  One Hotspur Member to buy  (or other supporters if the game goes on General Sale) for any Premier League home fixture they are unable to attend.

A selection of General Admission and Premium seats will be listed on Ticket Exchange including a number of single seats. Premium seats listed on Ticket Exchange will also include access to the seats' respective lounge and a complimentary food offering.

Ticket Exchange will open for home fixtures at the Club’s discretion and once all tickets have sold. Once open, updates will be communicated via Club channels.

Ticket Exchange seats may on occasions go on Guest or General Sale for Premier League games.

• Ticket Exchange 'Guest Sale' : seats listed on Ticket Exchange will be opened to both our Season Ticket Holders and One Hotspur Members for the opportunity to buy additional tickets for friends and family.

True crime podcasts are popular in the U.S., particularly among women and those with less formal education

True crime stands out as the most common topic of top-ranked podcasts in the United States, according to a new Pew Research Center study . So who, exactly, listens to true crime podcasts?

Pew Research Center conducted this analysis to explore U.S. adults’ views of and experiences with podcasts as a part of the news and information landscape.

To examine the ways Americans get news and information in a digital age, the Center surveyed 5,132 U.S. adults from Dec. 5 to 11, 2022. Everyone who completed the survey is a member of the Center’s American Trends Panel (ATP), an online survey panel that is recruited through national, random sampling of residential addresses. This way nearly all U.S. adults have a chance of selection. The survey is weighted to be representative of the U.S. adult population by gender, race, ethnicity, partisan affiliation, education and other categories. Read more about the  ATP’s methodology .

In the questionnaire, U.S. adults who said they are currently listening to at least one podcast were asked in an open-ended question to write in the name of the podcast that they listen to most. If respondents answered with the names of more than one podcast, only the first one was coded. In total, 1,563 open-end responses were coded.

Here are  the questions used  in the survey, along with responses, and  its methodology .

As part of the study, the Center also took a close look at key characteristics of top-ranked podcasts. Researchers identified these top podcasts by analyzing daily lists of the top 200 podcasts on Apple Podcasts and Spotify from April 1 to Sept. 30, 2022. The average chart position of each podcast that appeared on either list was calculated, and the top 300 podcasts from each site were included as top podcasts. Researchers identified 451 top podcasts by combining these lists so that podcasts that were among the top 300 on both sites were not counted twice.

A team of trained researchers then analyzed these 451 podcasts to determine podcast affiliation, topic, format and other key characteristics of each podcast. Additional data on episode length and frequency was analyzed after collecting data on all episodes published in 2022 through the Spotify and Apple Podcasts application programming interface.

Here are the detailed tables for this analysis of 451 top-ranked podcasts, and the methodology .

This is the latest analysis in Pew Research Center’s ongoing investigation of the state of news, information and journalism in the digital age, a research program funded by The Pew Charitable Trusts, with generous support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

Overall, 34% of U.S. adults who have listened to a podcast in the past year say they regularly listen to podcasts about true crime, according to a 2022 Center survey . But some demographic groups are more likely than others to do so:

• Among U.S. podcast listeners, women are almost twice as likely as men to regularly listen to true crime podcasts (44% vs. 23%).
• Podcast listeners with less formal education are more likely than those with higher levels of education to listen to shows about true crime. Looking at podcast listeners who have a high school diploma or less, 45% regularly listen to true crime podcasts. A third of podcast listeners with some college education say the same, as do 27% of those who have at least a bachelor’s degree. This pattern persists even when accounting for age.
• While women are more likely to listen to true crime podcasts overall, women with lower levels of formal education are the most likely to do so. A majority (57%) of women with a high school diploma or less say they regularly listen to true crime podcasts, compared with 34% of men with the same education level and 36% of women with a college degree.
• Younger podcast listeners are more likely than the oldest listeners to report tuning in to shows about true crime. Among U.S. podcast listeners ages 18 to 29, 41% regularly listen to true crime podcasts. This compares with 15% of listeners ages 65 and older.

The Center’s new study finds that true crime is the most common topic among top-ranked podcasts – defined as those with the highest average daily rankings on Apple’s and Spotify’s lists of top podcasts in a six-month period in 2022. Almost a quarter (24%) of these top podcasts are primarily about true crime.

True crime podcasts are often investigations into murders, scandals and other criminal events. Serial, which helped to popularize the genre , is a series that provides in-depth investigations into particular crimes or events. Due to its popularity, Serial is often credited for drawing national attention to the conviction of Adnan Syed.

Other top-ranked podcasts in this genre include 20/20, Crime Junkie, Dateline NBC, and My Favorite Murder. Crime Junkie and Dateline NBC are among the most popular podcasts cited by podcast listeners who gave a name for the show they tune in to most – 1% named each of these podcasts.

While true crime is the most common topic among top-ranked podcasts, it is not the most popular topic Americans report listening to, according to the Center’s recent survey . About a third of podcast listeners in the United States (34%) say they regularly listen to podcasts about true crime.

Other topics – such as comedy (47%) and entertainment, pop culture and the arts (46%) – are more popular than true crime.

While the Center’s survey did not specifically ask why podcast listeners turn to specific topics such as true crime, we can look at the reasons that people said they listen to podcasts in general – and among those who said the podcast they listen to most is true crime.

Of those who said their main podcast is about true crime, the most common major reasons for listening were for entertainment (85%) and to have something to listen to while doing something else (84%). They were less likely to cite reasons like learning, hearing other people’s opinions, or staying up to date about current events.
