How can foreigners use mobile payments, Alipay, in China in 2024

From Alipay Tour Pass to Alipay TourCard, and now Alipay’s access to international bank cards, we’ve seen China’s mobile payment system become more and more friendly to foreign tourists. We have updated the article to reflect the latest status of current Alipay for foreigners based on our practices. Here is everything that can help you visit China using just your phone in 2024.

In China, the proportion of mobile payments has exceeded 80%. People use mobile phones to complete nearly all daily consumption activities, such as shopping, dining , using public transportation, taking taxis, seeking medical treatment in hospitals and so on. Many merchants no longer even keep cash on hand for providing change, let alone offer POS machines that accept international bank cards. Consequently, for foreigners, using international credit cards or cash in China is neither safe nor convenient and could potentially lead to various complications.

Fortunately, China’s two main mobile payment platforms, Alipay and WeChat Pay, began accepting international credit cards at the end of July 2023. This post explains how to use Alipay. #1  About Alipay registration

Download the ‘Alipay’ app and register with your mobile number. You can register using an overseas mobile phone number or a Chinese mobile phone number. #2  About identity verification

Before using Alipay, you need to complete identity verification. You can complete identity verification through the following three methods:

• Use your passport to complete face verification.
• Use a Chinese mainland bank card to verify their identity.
• Use your passport NFC chip and face verification (if available with your passport and supported by device)

#3  Adding and removing Bank Cards

For foreign tourists, there are two ways to pay with Alipay. The first method is by binding an international card, and the second way is by topping up Alipay through the mini-app called TourCard. We have personally tested the first method and found it to be both feasible and convenient. Therefore, we recommend binding an international card to Alipay. Alipay now supports cards issued by Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Discover, Diners Club and UnionPay cards.

Add your first bank card at the home page or by going to “Me” > “Bank Cards”.

To add more than one bank card, go to “Me” > “Bank Cards” -> “+”(up right corner)

To remove bank card, go to “Me” > “Bank Cards” > the bank card you want to remove –>“More services” – “Remove Card”.

#4  How does Alipay work?

Activate the payment QR code, show the payment QR code to the cashier, and the cashier scans your Alipay payment QR code.

Scan the Alipay QR code provided by the merchant, enter the amount, and click to confirm the payment.

Important reminder : If you have more than one card bound in Alipay, you need to select the card you need to use when this payment is made before. At the same time, the three CVV2 digits on the back of the credit card should be filled in when scanning the QR code to pay.

. Taking public transport with Alipay

Choose the location firstly. Find all the service channels, such as Bus, Metro, Taxi, Train, Plane and Bike in the ‘Transport’ button. Note that ‘12306’ here refers to the train.

Before taking the subway or bus for the first time, you need to obtain Bus/Metro Card.

#5  Shopping online by Alipay

China is a famous manufacturing country with abundant and high quality goods. Alipay supports payment on all online platforms in China. What’s more, China’s delivery speed is amazing.

#6  Is there a transaction limit? How is the exchange rate calculated?

There is a limit of 6,000 RMB for single transactions, a cumulative monthly limit of 50,000 RMB, and a cumulative yearly limit of 60,000 RMB for transactions. The exchange rate will be calculated based on the exchange rate provided by the card organization and the issuing bank of your international card.

#7  Are there any transaction fees?

Yes, there are transaction fees. However, transaction fees are waived for single transactions under 200 RMB. A 3% transaction fee will be applied for single transactions above 200 RMB. If you request a refund for a transaction, the transaction fee will be reimbursed in proportion to the refunded amount.

#8  Is Alipay safe?

Alipay was founded in 2004 and has become an essential tool for more than 80% of Chinese people. For details of Alipay’s security, please visit their website at here .

#9 Alipay customer service

If you encounter problems with identity real-name authentication, adding a bank card or topping up your account, ask a Chinese-speaking friend to call the Alipay service hotline at 95188 . human customer service will help you with these problems.

The mini-program of 'TourPass' collected in China's top digital payment app Alipay has opened the door to digital quick pay for short-term visitors coming to China with a valid passport and Visa. It is a kind of e-wallet set up in AliPay that allows you to load funds from your international card and make quick payments by scanning QR codes presented by the cashiers.

Now, let's see how to call out this TourPass from AliPay and connect it with your international bank card.

1. If you are not an AliPay user yet, search the App 'AliPay' and get it installed on your phone. (See How to register an AliPay account and set up quick pay? )

2. Open the app and search 'TourPass' on Home Page.

3. Tap TourPass shown in the list and get to its main page, then follow the instructions to fill out the form with the credentials about your real person and type in the amount that you want to top-up to the account, after tick up ' You agree to ....', tap 'Next' to get the process completed.

Service Confirmation

Till now, you've finished the basic steps for setting up a TourPass account in AliPay. 

1. The balance capacity of each TourPass account had been risen to CNY 10,000 by 2020, and the valid period of the account has been extended to 90 days. How is the account status after 90 days, and what to do with the balance left in the account? All the balance left in the account could be chosen to be refunded to the card where it was originally loaded from, or if you still want to use this TourPass account to engage a new wave of quick pay, just reactivate it, it'll be given another valid term of 90 days. The circle of expire-and-renew can be repeated over and over again.

2. 5% service fee will be charged by the Bank of Shanghai for any Topping Up transaction.

3. The using scope of TourPass. Users can use TourPass to pay for orders made on Taobao.com and Tmall.com. For offline transaction activities, it can be used in the case of a face-to-face direct pay that a payer scans on a money-collecting QR code presented by a payment collector, or the payer shows a money-paying QR code which is to be scanned by the money collector. However, the payment made for the consumption of other applications like Didi 滴滴, Mobike 摩拜单车 can be failed due to the regulation of the real-name verification/authentication, which can be an easy case for long-term residents and students, but difficult for visitors with short-term staying visas. (The real-name authentication requires a connection between the AliPay account and a China native bank account).   What do you need for opening a Chinese local bank account as an expat?

The differences of the using scope with an AliPay account in various real-name verification statuses:

The default account , a phone number registered account without linking to a bank card. This type of accounts can not be used with financial activities like paying or money transferring. The using scope may include friend communication and browsing through other mini-programs or applications embedded in AliPay.

The TourPass account , the account registered with a foreign phone number and a connection to a foreign credit card, has not yet been through real-name verification. This type of accounts can be used for paying for orders on Taobao.com and Tmall.com and the consuming bills from a shopping mall, store, supermarket, grocery, and part of the individual money-collectors. Money transfer is not available to this type of account.

The real-name verified account, type A , referring to the account type that has been registered with a phone number (either a China native number or an overseas number) and a connection to a foreign bank card, and it's been through the real-name verification with a passport. This type of accounts is facilitated with the using scope of a TourPass type account; moreover, they can be used for money transfers. However, you should notice that the money you are going to transfer is based on the balance kept in the account. All of the money transfer transactions are not going through the real bank card you've connected with. So if you want to make a money transfer out to a money collector, make sure you had collected some amount in your account balance from others who transferred money to you via AliPay.

The real-name verified account, type B , referring to the account type that has been registered with a phone number (either a China native number or an overseas number) and a connection to a China local bank card, and the real-name verification has been accomplished with the success of a connection made to this China local bank card. This type of accounts is facilitated with almost all of the features AliPay is providing to users. It can be used for paying for all kinds of consumption bills ranging from online orders and offline payments, and money transfers can be started from either the account balance or the real bank card(s) connected with. In addition, paying method with AliPay is activated among all other apps that incorporate AliPay as one of the valid paying methods. Users can use it to pay for an order from Didi, Meituan, Mobike, and other similar third-party applications, powerful and convenient!

Alipay is one of China’s biggest and most used apps and we recently received some very useful news for foreigners about using Alipay which we want to share with you right away.

For the first time, you can now link your foreign credit/bank card to Alipay and pay for things without cash in China.

This is hugely significant given the fact China is generally a cashless country these days.

Let’s discover Alipay and how we can benefit from it as foreigners.

What is AliPay?

AliPay is an app widely used throughout China .

In fact, it is one of China’s biggest apps .

Within the app, the main feature is quite simple, paying for things.

Need to buy milk and bread?

Use Alipay.

Want to book some train tickets ?

Want to pay your gas and electric bills?

Starting to see a theme here?

You can also send friends money, via “ red packets ”, and even chat.

Most Chinese nationals who have a phone will have the app. We’d probably go as far as saying 99% of locals in fact.

Although WeChat is regarded as the most commonly used app to pay for things, Alipay will not be far behind.

Using Alipay in China

WeChat and Alipay have always had one shortcoming for foreigners and it’s actually incredibly relevant to a lot of our students here at LTL Language School.

To be able to pay for things using these two apps, you need a Chinese bank account , and that is becoming increasingly troublesome (麻烦 máfan – useful word alert) , especially if you are coming to China short-term.

If you are a student for let’s say less than 6 weeks , do you really want to go through the hassle of opening a bank account?

Probably not given the fact it’s not that easy in China!

Therefore, using these apps to pay for things is not possible (until now).

DID YOU KNOW || Some places in China you cannot actually use cash to pay for things, they genuinely only accept mobile payments!

The world we live in…!

An example, Luckin’ Coffee , a hugely popular discount coffee shop which our teams in Beijing and Shanghai particularly enjoy, on a daily basis! This coffee shop is solely driven by online payments so no bank account, no Luckin’ Coffee for you!

Anyway, for these reasons, this news is all the more significant because the above scenario is now solvable for those of you coming to China and not opening a bank account.

According to the below press release from Alipay, a foreigner can now attach their foreign bank card to Alipay and use this to make purchases in China.

This is a huge breakthrough in China and will make a big difference for foreigners coming to China and not having to bring cash.

So, now you probably want to know how to link your foreign bank card to Alipay?

Here is how to do it, plus another useful solution…

Using Alipay in China || How to Top-up Alipay?

When spending money as a foreigner using Alipay you have two options:

1 – Link Your Bank Card to Alipay

This is quick and easy to set up (with less caveats) but is not guaranteed to work.

Linking a bank card in Alipay is easy. Just follow these steps:

• Open Alipay
• Click the ME icon on the bottom right of the screen
• Click BANK CARDS
• Click the + icon on the top right of the screen
• Enter your bank card number, or scan your bank card

You’ll see the list of bank cards that can be linked with Alipay. These currently include Visa, Mastercard, Unionpay, and Diners Club.

NOTE || There is no American Express functionality but we believe they are looking to add this in the near future.

Now, the important thing to note with this method is that it may or may not work.

Unfortunately there is no way of knowing straight away. Just because Alipay says its supports Visa cards, it doesn’t mean your transaction will go through in China.

You’ll notice in the above screenshot my Visa card has successfully linked, but this doesn’t guarantee success.

Unfortunately you will not know until trying to pay in China whether it worked or not!

So it’s important to have a back-up… hence the 2nd method…

2 – Open a Tourcard

This method is more full-proof because what you are essentially doing is opening a bank account through Alipay, and it just takes a few clicks.

There are a few downsides though, so let’s run you through it.

• Open Alipay and search TOURCARD
• Open the Tourcard mini-app (Alipay includes hundreds of mini-apps you can find by searching)
• Click ENTER
• Click USE NOW and verify your personal info
• Choose an Amount to Top Up
• Make your payment

In completing these steps you’ve effectively opened up a brand new BANK OF SHANGHAI account in a matter of minutes.

Pretty cool, right?!

You won’t get a bank card though, this is simply an account you will use inside of Alipay.

There are a few things you need to know which are a little bit of a pain in truth.

1 – There is a 10,000CNY limit.

Now, whilst this is a step forward from the previous 2,000CNY limit of the now discontinued (but essentially the same, Tourpass), it still ties our hands a bit.

Whether this is enough for you is entirely case dependent. How long are you in China for? If just a couple of weeks, or even a month – you’ll be OK.

What about if you’re in China for 3+ months? You’re going to need another solution on-top of this. We’ll come onto that…

2 – There is a 5% top-up service charge.

This one is a kick up the backside. An unnecessarily large charge just to use the service, but it is what it is sadly.

That means if you want to top-up the full 10,000CNY you’ll be spending another 500CNY on top of it (see why we included it in the table above now!?)

3 – The Tourcard is only active for 6 months

Going back to those of you who are staying in China longer that 6 months… another hurdle.

The Tourcard will automatically close after 180 days of opening. If you have failed to spend all your money, no problem, it’ll be refunded to your bank upon expiration.

The good news is you can open a new Tourcard after these 6 months have expired.

4 – Only certain banks will work

You’ll notice in the screenshot that only Visa, Mastercard, Diners Club and JCB account holders can use Tourcard.

Tourcard is clearly a useful feature and makes the life of a foreigner in China easier, but it’s important to be aware of the limitations.

3 – Get a Friend to Send Your Money

This is probably the easiest solution of all but will rely on who you know in China already.

If you have a friend in China who has a Chinese bank account and a verified Alipay account, they can quite simply fire over some money to your account.

Is all you will need is a verified Alipay account yourself (i.e. upload scan of passport, take selfie etc) and you’ll be good to go.

You’ll then just need to find a way to pay them back!

We must thank a student of ours from our forum for this solution.

After hearing he made use of this hack, we tried it with some of our students and it worked a treat.

We hope this list helped.

Anyway… we mentioned other solutions for those of you who are planning to stay longer and spend more than 10,000CNY…

Alipay for Foreigners || Other Solutions

Firstly – whilst it goes against everything we’ve said… it’s still worth taking some cash to China.

You won’t be able to use it much, but it’s always worth having this back-up.

Perhaps you owe a friend some money, maybe you’re in a taxi, or you are wanting to buy some souvenirs from the local stalls?

In all of these situations cash can still work – so whilst it’s not king in China anymore… have a bit to hand before taking off for China.

Secondly – get a Wise account. Wise is an excellent option for those of you who travel and regularly hold multiple currencies.

Wise allows you to hold currencies from all over the world including USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, HKD, KRW… and yes, you guessed it CNY (Chinese Yuan)!

Wise is essentially a Visa card , which means it should also work with Alipay’s functionality, but again, it’ll be person dependent.

Either way, get yourself a Wise card , and convert your cash to CNY.

TOP TIP || Getting a Wise card is MUCH cheaper than exchanging cash at the airport or at those cash exchange stores. I never do this anymore and would advise anyone against it. Wise cuts these fees right down.

Thirdly – Try setting up a WeChat Pay account. You’ll absolutely need WeChat for contacting people in China regardless, so WeChat Pay can be a great way to consolidate these two functions.

WeChat Pay have also recently allowed the linking of international cards for tourists and short-term visitors too!

Finally – be sure to link your bank card to Alipay as we mentioned above .

If you run out of cash on your Tourcard, by linking your bank card to Alipay itself, this will hopefully provide you with an alternate solution.

It may work at some vendors, and may not at others – but you’ve given yourself the best chance.

Coming to China provides challenges few other countries provide, but we know China better than most and we sincerely hope this article has eased some of your fears about how to spend money in China.

With the news that you can link a foreign bank account to Alipay, this means you can gain all the benefits of the Alipay app and start spending in China without needing cash.

Yes, Alipay is available for everyone to use in China , you can use it in English or Chinese meaning it is also convenient for most to use.

You simply download Alipay from your App Store on your device.

You will need to register a mobile number and set up your account.

Once this is complete just link your bank card (Chinese account or now a foreign account is also possible) and you are good to go.

You will need to link a bank card to Alipay which you can do so by visiting your profile and then BANK CARDS.

If you linked your Chinese bank account to Alipay there is no need to top-up your account. It is simply linked to your bank account.

If you linked your foreign bank account to Alipay the same applies, but it may or may not work (there is no way of knowing until you try and make that first transaction).

If you topped up your Tourcard you have a 10,000CNY cap and you can top up by visiting the Tourcard mini-app inside of Alipay.

No, WeChat is the primary payment app in China and these two dominate the market.

Very interesting Indeed! What about Who has a chinese telephone Number AND a foreign credit card? Will the sane processo apply? Because if you need to have your foreign sin card in when purchasing with alipay..we’ll, that seems to be pretty expensive in roaming costa, doesn’t it?

Certainly is an interesting development and I think WeChat will follow up soon also. Ultimately if it helps foreigners spend in China at convenience, everyone wins.

So I have a Chinese phone numbers (I live here) and a foreign credit card from the UK, and I linked this up with no problem as the screenshots show. I’ve heard someone people had trouble but I think this is very much touch and go, some do, so do not. I time I think it will roll out to all versions of AliPay on all App stores.

Answering your final sentence though, you do not need a foreign SIM card as I can vouch for.

Yes according to AliPay 2000RMB is the maximum you can top up. I am not sure when you are allowed to top-up another 2000RMB, that’s something you will need to keep an eye on.

How do you change the credit card you use to top up the prepaid bank of shanghai tour pass? I cannot figure this out. Any help is appreciated.

When you bring up your payment QR code as if you are about to pay, see where it says the bank just underneath the QR code?

Click the bank and you’ll be given all your current linked options you can use.

When you open up Tour Pass, have to put in passport info and your personal information along with a credit card. How can you change that credit card?

I think the best way to do this is go to ME at the bottom right of your screen then BANK CARDS, here you can attach as many bank cards as you wish, then when you top-up you should be given a selection of cards to choose from.

Okay I did this but it doesn’t show up for me. I still only have the option to top-up with the original card I used even though I deleted it and I don’t have that card any more???

If you got it to work without sending you to verification, asking for bank card pictures, then saying verification failed an end of story, you are lucky. Could not make any use of it.

Things do change very often with apps like this

Do you need mobile data (or roaming data) or connection to a WiFi in order to pay using the Tourpass? Cheers.

Generally yes, but actually I’ve found before you can still process the payment IF THEY SCAN YOUR QR. If you try to open yours it will not as the code changes each time, using data/WiFi, so if you get them to scan you (use this – 你可以扫我吗?), then you should be fine.

As far as we are aware you can only use the Tour Pass for 90 days and unfortunately there isn’t a way to extend this. However you can now also link foreign bank cards to WeChat so you may want to look into this, you can see some more information about this in our WeChat Pay vs Alipay blog .

I am a foreigner not entering into China does it means tt it’s not applicable to me ? When they mention tour pass does it mean you hv to be physically there in China for tour then u can TOP up alipay ?

Unfortunately only Chinese citizens are able to use Alipay outside of China. This includes both the Tour Pass and normal Alipay transactions as well. You may be able to top up the tour pass before entering China, however you won’t be able to use that money unless you are in China.

That seems correct Nemanja. Perhaps top up 2,000 first and see how it goes using it. If it works well, top up in smaller increments rather than one big 10,000 lump sum.

I tried both to top-up and to add a credit card directly but both do not work … I checked and now (Aug 2021) only adding debit cards to TourPass works I think (I did not try yet). Are you sure credit cards are supposed to work? I tried VISA released by different countries and MasterCard. Both not working. Any help would be appreciated… thx!

The rules and regulations do really change often Matteo so what might be valid in June can change by August… such is the situation with many things in China. Sorry we cannot help more!

I am unable to add a credit card on Alipay as well as to use that to top-up a Shanghai bank account on TourPass. Are you sure that credit cards are working? According to Alipy message I get only debit cards are supposed to work (I did not try) … let me know thanks.

I was able to add my credit card to TourPass and I see I can also use that for TakeOut. Also I added the international credit card directly to Alipay BUT did you notice that with that you cannot do TakeOut? Does it happen to you ?

Hardly any point in touching this Alipay garbage unless you’re going to China. I had a client who paid me on this trash app, thought I’d be able to use it in on holiday Cambodia where Alipay is very popular, but apparently foreigners not allowed to use their own money if its not in China.

I urgently need Alipay to answer my question.

I am applying for a evisa at the immigration website of a a country I plan to visit.

My VISA bank card is located in the EU. When I try to pay for my evisa, my application is registered correctly, but my payment fails with the message “Payment order refused”.

I contacted my bank and they said that the website that I tried to pay to (probably worldpay.com that processes the payment on behalf of the country I apply for evisa from) have not implemented proper KYC rules and regulations for secure payment. These are new EU rules for socalled secure ( albeit currently making it impossible to pay in some instances) online payments.

However, there is an option to pay with Alipay/Wechat. I really need to use Alipay but for now I have chosen not to transfer funds from my EU based bank/VISA card to go through the tourpass option that, as (far as) I understand these funds once landed in the Shanghai bank cannot be used to pay online abroad as my need is.

This situation is extremely difficult.

Is there a way I could use Alipay to pay for my evisa with a linked VISA debit card issued by my bank in the EU?

You’ll likely need a Chinese bank account unfortunately, but don’t take this as gospel. Give it a try and let us know in the comments. Prepare a contingency place though. These rules change for each country and type of card all the time.

Lets say I top up with 2000RMB and when I return flight to my home country (Canada in this case) I still have a balance of 500RMB on Alipay. Can I get it put back into my Canadian bank account?

You should be able to yes. You just won’t be able to spend it in Canada but deposits and withdrawals you should be fine.

Only one thing on which I am unclear. I live in Canada (others insert your country here). Do I download and sign up for Alipay AND load money while in Canada or do I download Alipay in Canada but finish signing up and loading money only after I arrive in China?

Third option: do I wait until I get to China and get my new temporary number and simply do all of it (download app, register and load) once there?

I am supposed to get a temporary phone number from LTL. Do I use that temporary number to register with Alipay? If I register in Canada, I will no longer have that phone number (SIM Card) active while in China and that’s where I am a bit confused, if it is connected to your phone number and that number changes once in China.

Hi Brian, you can use your own phone number in Canada that’s fine. You can also load money with your local card so you have some on there straight away.

When you get your temporary number it shouldn’t change anything. Just note down your log-in details safely. The only thing you may have to do is receive an SMS to verify who you are and that will be sent to the number you register with. In this case just swap the SIM’s over quickly and note down the code. This can happen randomly so you may or may not experience it.

Can I use Chinese Cash to top up my Alipay Account even if I don’t have a Chinese bank account. I read I can visit a McDonalds or other places to use cash to add cash to my Alipay wallet. Does this also apply for foreigners?

Unfortunately not. You’ll need to transfer it from your foreign bank account.

北京旅行での支払いの際、われわれ外国人旅行者が中国人と同じようにスマホ決済できる便利なアプリが アリペイ（Alipay/支付宝）のツアーパス（Tour Pass） です。

ツアーパスを使うにはクレジットカードを登録しチャージする必要がありますが、すべてのカードが登録できるわけではありません。

アリペイ（Alipay/支付宝） は中国のアリババグループが提供する決済アプリであり、WeChat Pay（微信支付）と並んで中国の代表的なスマホ決済です。

このアリペイが開始したのが ツアーパス（Tour Pass） で、アリペイアプリの中のミニプログラムです。

私たちがツアーパスを使うには、アリペイアプリをスマホにインストールし、クレジットカード（またはデビットカード）からツアーパスにチャージして支払うという流れです。

２.アリペイ ツアーパスの登録・チャージ方法

まずツアーパスに必要なものは以下の３点です。

上の３点を手もとに用意したら、アリペイのアプリをスマホにダウンロードしましょう。

iPhoneの画面で解説していきますが、アンドロイドでも基本的に同じです。

ダウンロードしたら、次はアリペイの登録です。

アリペイのアプリをダウンロードしたら、さっそく開きましょう。

アプリを開くと、プライバシーポリシーへの同意を求められます。

「同意」を押すと、アリペイの画面になります。

ここから、アリペイの登録をしていきます。

まず電話番号を登録するのですが、「+86」は中国の国番号ですので、このまま入力しても登録できません。

右上の画像で示した赤丸を押して、日本の国番号を選択します。

国番号を選択する画面に変わりますので、「Japan」を選択しましょう。

右のように電話番号入力の画面に戻りますが、日本の国番号「+81」になってますね。

ここに、スマホの電話番号を入力します。

090や080の最初の「0」は抜いて、画像のように、80xxxxxxxxと打ちます。

ハイフンはいりません。

プライバシーポリシーについてのメッセージです。

「Agree」を押します。

SMSに送られてくる、４桁の認証コードを入力。

「インターナショナルバージョンを利用しますか？」と聞かれるので「YES」を押します。

ツアーパスは、 インターナショナルバージョン（国際版） でのみ使えるサービスです。

私の時はこの「YES」を押した後、なかなか画面が変わらなかったので、やり直そうと思って左上の「<」を押したら、アリペイトップ画面に変わりました。 同じような不具合が起きたら、試してみてください。

右上のようにアリペイのトップ画面に変われば、無事アリペイに登録できたことになります。

次は、ツアーパスにチャージをします。

ツアーパスにチャージするには、画面の「Tour Pass」をタップします。

もし画面にツアーパスがない場合は、上の検索ボックスに「tourpass」と打ち込めば出てきます。

右上が、ツアーパスの画面です。

「Digital prepaid card」「Bank of Shanghai」とあるように、これが上海銀行のバーチャルプリペイドカードになります。

ツアーパスにチャージするには、「USE NOW」を押します。

次に、パスポート情報等の個人情報を入力する画面に変わります。

まず国を選択しますので、右の「>」をタップします。

「Japan」を選択しましょう。

パスポート情報などを入力します。

名前はパスポート通りに、英語の大文字で入力してください。

「有効期限」はパスポートの有効期限で、入力は「日/月/年」の順です。

たとえば、2025年1月23日が期限なら「01/23/2025」となります。

生年月日の入力順も同様です。

職業は右の「>」を押すと、職業を選択する画面に変わりますので（英語でやや分かりづらいですが）選択しましょう。

職業の下は、住所です。

住所の右の「>」を押します。

国については右の「>」をタップして、別画面で「Japan」を選んでください。

「国」以下の住所は、英語表記で入力します。

住所の英語表記の具体例を、載せておきます。 たとえば、次のような住所があったとします（架空です）。 東京都葛飾区亀有公園前x-x-xxチャイナパレス10号室 英語表記は、次のようになります。 Address Line 1 : x-x-xx Kamearikouenmae Address Line 2 : #10 China Palace Town/City : Katsushika-ku State/Province : Tokyo-to この例に当てはまらなくて分からない、という場合には、便利なサイトがあります。 「君に届け！」というサイトで、日本の住所を入力すると自動的に英語表記してくれるサイトです。 君に届け！

さて、住所を入力し、下の「OK」を押すと前の画面に戻ります。

次は、パスポート写真のアップです。

右上の画像にある「>」をタップしてください。

「Take Photo」の部分をタップします。

右は、写真の撮り方についての説明です。

「Got it」を押すと写真撮影の画面に変わるので、パスポートを撮影して、案内にしたがって写真をアップロードしてください。

アップロードすると、次の画面に切り替わります。

チャージ金額の入力画面です。

画面にあるとおり、最低100元から最高10,000元までチャージできます。

100、500、1,000のボタンがあり、それ以外は「Please enter amount」の欄に入力します。

ここでは、100元チャージしてみます。

「Next」を押すと、クレジットカード登録の画面になります。

クレジットカードまたはデビットカードの入力画面です。

カード番号等入力したら、画像の赤丸の同意事項にチェックを入れ、下の「Top up 100 CNY」をタップします。

すると右上のように、サービスについての確認事項が示されます。

書かれている内容は、大体以下のとおり。

• このプリペイドカードのサービスは上海銀行によって提供される
• 2020年1月3日より上海銀行はチャージに5％の手数料を徴収する
• 銀行口座から引き落とされる金額は上海銀行の為替レートによって決められる
• チャージ金額の限度は10,000元である
• 上海銀行におけるプリペイドカードの有効期間は90日間である。有効期間満了後、もし引き続き使いたければ、再開することができる
• もし残高の返金を望むなら、ツアーパスのページから返金に着手することができる

以上の点を確認したら、「Confirm & Pay」をタップ。

100元チャージできました！

「OK」ボタンを押すと、右のようにトップページに戻ります。

残高が100元になってますね ♪

これでチャージ完了です。

ただ、このままでは支払いはできません。

アリペイで支払う際には、 支払いパスワード の入力が必要になります。

そのパスワードの設定をしなければならないのです。

その設定の仕方を見ていきましょう。

支払いパスワードを設定するには、まず上の画像の赤い四角の部分、「Payment Code」をタップします。

右の画面に変わり、そこには「あなたはまだこの機能を有効にはしていません」とあります。

「Enable now」を押して、支払い機能を有効化します。

「支払いパスワードを設定しないと使えません」旨の注意が表示されます。

「Set Now」をタップします。

支払いパスワードを、６桁（任意）入力します。

同じ数字の連続は使えません。

バーコードとQRコードが表示されます。

これでツアーパスが使えるようになりました。

３.アリペイ ツアーパスの使い方

アリペイのツアーパスでの支払い方法には、以下の２種類があります。

• お店のQRコードをスキャンする
• 自分のQRコードをお店の人にスキャンしてもらう

お店のQRコードをスキャンして支払うのが、おそらく最も多い支払い方法ではないかと思われます。

支払い方法は、まずツアーパスの画面を開きます。

「Scan-to-Pay」をタップするとカメラが起動するので、お店のQRコードをスキャンしてください。

金額入力画面になるので、支払う金額を入力し、支払いパスワードを入力して完了です。

自分のQRコードをお店の人に見せてスキャンしてもらい、支払う方法です。

まずツアーパスの画面を開きます。

「Payment Code」をタップしてください。

右のようにQRコードが表示されますので、お店の人に見せてスキャンしてもらってください。

以上、ツアーパスの支払い方法についてでした。

アリペイアプリのアップデートによって、ツアーパスにクレジットカードが３枚まで登録できるようになりました。

しかも以前は登録できなかったアメリカン・エキスプレスも登録できるようになっています。

これにより登録できるクレジットカードは、以下の５ブランドとなりました。

クレジットカードの追加は、次の手順で行います。

まずツアーパスの画面に行きます。

「TOP UP」を押してください。

右の画像のように、すでに登録してあるカードの下に「New card」とあるはずなので、それをタップします。

先ほどクレジットカードを登録した時と同様の画面に変わりますので、カード番号などを入力すれば登録できます。

このように、３枚まで登録できます。

ネットでは楽天カードではチャージできないという情報がありましたが、2021年10月現在、楽天プレミアムカード（Visa）ではチャージできました。

私が他に登録したカードは、エポスカードとセディナカード（Master）です。

とくに エポスカード は海外旅行保険が付いてくるので、北京旅行にはおすすめです。

ちなみに、一度登録したカードの変更はできないようです。

別のカードに変更したい場合は、ツアーパスのアカウントを一度削除した後、再度登録しなおす必要があります。

2022年8月現在、90日の有効期限後ツアーパスの更新（Re-Activate）ができなくなっています。 ですので90日後ツアーパスを引き続き使いたい場合は、一度ツアーパスのアカウントを削除（Close Accounnt）する必要があります。 クレジットカードについてもその後、新しく登録し直すことになります。

アリペイアプリのアップデートにより、90日の有効期限を待たずに返金できるようになりました。

これもユーザーにとっては改善ですね ♪

返金方法は、以下のとおりです。

ツアーパスの画面を開きます。

チャージ残高の右の「>」をタップします。

「Refund」（返金）をタップします。

上に残高200元、返金日数15営業日とあります。

返金額やカードを選べるのかと思いきや、タップできません。

つまり返金する場合は、一括全額返金となります。

下の「Apply」を押すと、即返金となります。

右上の画面になれば、返金の申し込み完了です。

「OK」ボタンで前の画面に戻ります。

残高が０元になっているので、ちゃんと返金できたことが分かります。

画像の赤丸の「>」を押すと、返金の詳細が確認できます。

返金の詳細と、“返金には15営業日かかります”旨表示されます。

返金についての説明は、次のように返金画面の下に記されています。

大体、以下のようなことが書かれています。

• 返金にはおよそ15営業日かかる
• 実際の返金額はカード会社に基づく
• 返金は複数の元のカードに返金される（複数のカードからチャージした場合）
• 上海銀行によって付加された手数料は返金されない

以上、ツアーパスの返金方法でした。

90日の有効期限前に返金できるようになったので、旅行者にはより使いやすくなったと思います。

６.アリペイ ツアーパスの注意点

アリペイ・ツアーパスを使うにあたって、注意点があるので見ていきます。

アリペイのツアーパスを使うには、ネットに接続していなければなりません。

ですので、ネット接続のためにWiFiレンタルか、SIMカードが必要になります。

上にも書きましたが、ツアーパスのチャージ上限額は10,000元です。

以前は累計5,000元でしたが、アリペイアプリのアップデートによって、より多くチャージできるようになりました。

これだけあれば、１週間くらいの中国旅行なら大丈夫でしょう。

７.アリペイ ツアーパスのデメリット

アリペイ・ツアーパスのデメリットについて見ていきます。

ツアーパスは、チャージ手数料が高いです。

ツアーパスの始まった2019年11月当初はキャンペーン期間で無料でしたが、2020年1月3日よりチャージ手数料は5％となりました。

しかも手数料はこれだけでなく、全て合わせると 約7.5％ になります。

具体的には、手数料の内訳は以下のようになります。

• チャージ手数料5％（上海銀行）
• カードブランド（Visa,Master,JCBなど）の中国元レート上乗せ（為替手数料）約0.5%（2021年10月時点）
• 日本のカード会社の定める海外事務手数料約2％（カード会社によって異なり大体1.6%~2.2%）

3つの手数料を合わせて、約7.5%です。

たとえば1,000元（約17,000円）チャージすると、手数料は75元≒1,275円になります（1元＝17円として）。

これは日本の両替所で両替するよりは安いですが、中国の銀行で両替したり、手数料の安くできるクレジットカード（セディナカードなど）でATMキャッシングするよりは、ずっと高くつきます。

具体的には、次の表のようになります（10月11日のレートで、1元=17.5227円）。

このように、ツアーパスのチャージ手数料は、中国の銀行で両替したり、ATMキャッシングするよりも割高になってしまいます。

ただ、とはいえツアーパスのスマホ決済は便利なことに変わりはありません。

スマホ決済が主流の中国では、手数料は高くてもやはりツアーパスを利用したいところです。

最新の「地球の歩き方」(北京,上海2019-2020版)では、2018年以降、中国の銀行では口座を持たない人の両替を断るケースが出てきたといいます。 受け付ける場合でも、中国の携帯電話番号および日本のマイナンバーや健康保険証番号などの日本の識別番号の、両替書類への記入が求められるそうです。 このように中国の銀行での両替が難しくなっている現在、クレジットカードによるATMキャッシングと合わせて、ツアーパスの必要性が高まっているといえます。

ネットでは、ツアーパスが突然使えなくなったとか、チャージできなくなったという話が多いです。

ツアーパスが使えなくなった場合、アプリ上からカスタマーセンターに問い合わせできますが、復旧に時間がかかることが多いようです。

このようなトラブルもあるので、北京旅行の際に全てツアーパスに頼って現金を用意しない、というのはおすすめできません。

いざという時のために、 一定額の現金を用意すること と、 現金を調達する手段を確保しておくこと （ATMキャッシングできるクレジットカードを持参することなど）を強くおすすめします。

ツアーパスは、ユーザー間での送金はできません。

ツアーパスはあくまで、モノ・コトの支払いにのみ使えます。

ツアーパスは、日本では使えません。

中国人は日本のローソンなどでアリペイの支払いをしてますが、ツアーパスは中国本土でのみ使えるサービスです。

アリペイ・ツアーパスは2021年10月現在のアプリでは、それ以前のバージョンとはいくつか変更点があります。

以下に、それをまとめておきます。

• チャージ上限は、10,000元
• クレジットカードにアメリカン・エキスプレスを登録できるようになった
• クレジットカードが3枚まで登録できるようになった
• 90日の有効期限を待たずに返金できるようになった
• 楽天プレミアムカードは登録もチャージも可能

チャージ上限は以前は5,000元が上限でしたが、それが10,000元になって、より使いやすくなったと思います。

楽天カードは以前は登録できないようでしたが、楽天プレミアムカードで試したところ、登録もチャージもできました（楽天一般カードでは試してません）。

以上、ツアーパス2021年10月版の変更点まとめでした。

どれも旅行者にとっては便利なもので、ツアーパスがより使いやすくなったと思います。

Annual Passes – Frequently Asked Questions

When can I renew my Annual Pass?

You can renew your Annual Pass up to 60 days before and 30 days after the pass expiration date. Keep in mind that your renewed Annual Pass will expire one year from your Anniversary Date, regardless of when you actually renew.

There are 3 convenient ways to renew:

• Renew online
• Renew at any Walt Disney World Resort theme park ticket window or Disney Springs Guest Relations location.
• Renew over the phone by calling (407) 560-PASS or (407) 560-7277. Guests under 18 years of age must have parent or guardian permission to call.

If you are renewing through the Monthly Payment Program for Florida residents, phone renewals are not available. However, you can renew online, in person at a theme park ticket window or Guest Relations location.

Though the Annual Pass owner does not need to be present for renewal, each Annual Pass owner will need to be present at the ticket window to receive his or her pass.

Most of the sites managed by the National Park Service are free to visit, but some require an entrance pass. You may also need a vehicle reservation at a few high-traffic sites.

Frequent visitors, seniors , military, and others may save money on entrance fees with an America the Beautiful—the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass, also known an America the Beautiful or interagency pass. Review all pass options below and decide which pass is best for you.

Vehicle Reservations

Some highly-visited national parks use a seasonal or year-round timed entry system to manage private vehicle traffic. Reservations are typically made available through recreation.gov on a rolling basis. If you plan to drive into one of these parks while the timed entry system is in effect, we recommend making a reservation well in advance.

America the Beautiful Passes ordered online through the USGS Online Store may take up to three weeks to be processed and delivered. Get your pass at one of over 1,000 purchase and pickup locations to avoid the wait.

Senior Passes

US citizens and permanent residents ages 62 and older can purchase an annual America the Beautiful—the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass for $20.00, or a lifetime version for $80.00. Applicants must provide documentation of age and residency or citizenship.

• The Senior Pass may provide a 50 percent discount on some amenity fees charged for facilities and services such as camping, swimming, boat launch, and specialized interpretive services.
• The Senior Pass generally does NOT cover or reduce special recreation permit fees or fees charged by concessioners.
• Passes may not be purchased as gifts since eligible recipient must show proof of eligibility.

Annual Senior Pass

Lifetime senior pass, golden age passports and golden access passports.

Golden Age Passports and Golden Access Passports are no longer sold. However, these passes are still honored according to the provisions of the pass.

We encourage you to exchange your Golden Age/Golden Access Passport for a current Lifetime Senior Pass for free. You can exchange in-person at sites that issue passes. Please bring your old pass and photo identification with you.

Annual Passes and Park Groups

While most annual park passes are limited to one national park, a few sites offer an annual pass valid at multiple national parks, federal recreational lands, or state parks.

Free Entrance Days

Come experience the national parks! On six days in 2024, all National Park Service sites that charge an entrance fee will offer free admission to everyone. Mark your calendar for these entrance fee–free dates in 2024:

• January 15: Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.
• April 20: First day of National Park Week
• June 19: Juneteenth National Independence Day
• August 4: Anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act
• September 28: National Public Lands Day
• November 11: Veterans Day

Your Fee Dollars at Work
