Does anybody know anything about " go ahead tours "? I'm thinking about taking a trip with them, specifically," america the beautiful trip"

Has anyone traveled with Go Ahead Tours? We are thinking of going to Tanzania with them?

' class=

We have used goahead tours two times. Once for the grand tour of Italy and more recently their Scandinavian tour. Both were excellent with good accommodations and tour guides were outstanding. My wife and I highly recommend this company. Just a side note, take out the travel insurance. It is very economical in comparison to how much you are paying for a tour whether it is with this tour company or another. I got sick one day before the tour and got all of my money back which amounted to about $9,000.

We are looking at Go Ahead tours to book a London,Pais & Italy tour with. I have not seen any new posting on them and was wondering if any one can provide any current information on them. I am finding their pricing a lot better then other companys. They even have 2015 airfair in their pricing, where othe companys can not get 2015 pricing until 10 months out, wondering how they can provide March 2015 airfair pricing when no other company can.

Go Ahead Tours is a very reputable company. My daughter and I took a London, Paris and Amsterdam tour three years ago. We really had no problem with the tour, and the guide, Anghus Weber, was friendly and knowledgeable. The problem with these types of tours is that they are large (there were around 48 people) and the hotels are not five-star hotels like a Tauck tour's hotels are. They are three-star hotels, and perfectly adequate, but you get what you pay for! Otherwise, we were very happy with the tour, and the large size enabled us to meet people from all over, and make new friends. I would recommend Go Ahead.

Thanks ILoveBroadway for the info.

EF Go Ahead Tours Review 2024: Are their guided tours worth it?

EF Go Ahead Tours Review 2024: Are their guided tours worth it?

EF Go Ahead Tours is a world-leading guided tour company offering a comprehensive travel package with local guides and authentic travel experiences. You've likely heard of them before, but are they really worth it? What do they offer, and how do they stack up to other guided tours?

tripadvisor go ahead tours

Guided tours are a great way to travel, make new friends, and enjoy new experiences without the hassle of planning the logistics of the trip.

While guided tour companies boast of convenience, they tend to fall short when it comes to flexibility and customization. Hence, many travelers resort to planning their trips by themselves using helpful apps like  Pilot .

But, if you still prefer a guided tour with some level of flexibility, EF Go Ahead Tours is definitely a choice to consider.

EF Go Ahead Tours is one of the world's largest tour companies that host small group tours with unique, authentic experiences. A great benefit of joining an EF Go Ahead Tour is that they allow travelers the benefits of hosting a free private tour with larger groups.

However, are the experiences they're offering for you? What are the pros and cons? Here's our review of EF Go Ahead Tours!

EF Go Ahead Tours Logo.

What is EF Go Ahead Tours?

EF Go Ahead Tours  is a brand under the EF Tours group that offers both guided and fully customizable tours to destinations worldwide. It caters to young and older travelers, admitting anyone from age six and above (under-age travelers accompanied by adults). The number of travelers in each group is capped at 14-38, and small group tours only admit 10-22 people.

EF Go Ahead Tours aims to provide you with meaningful tours with flexibility and personalization. It also promotes responsible travel by supporting local communities and adopting sustainable practices.

EF Go Ahead Tours mobile app helps you easily manage your bookings and view tour details. It is available for both Android and iOS devices.

What does EF Go Ahead Tours offer?

  • Tour directors and local guides:  A tour director is assigned for each group to be in charge of all logistics of the trip. They will accompany you throughout, sharing insider knowledge and background information about places you visit.
  • Accommodation:  3-4 star hotels that provide comfortable amenities while being located in close proximity to the city.
  • Meals:  Breakfast and some other meals are included in the pricing. Primarily, they focus on local food and beverage specialties. They will arrange meals meeting your dietary requirements if necessary.
  • Transportation:  Transport between airport and hotels and other transportation required during the trip are included in the package. While flights are not included, you can get EF Go Ahead Tours to arrange them for you at an additional cost.

EF Go Ahead tour benefits.

How does EF Go Ahead Tours work?

You can browse for tours by  Destination  or  Travel Styles  on the website. Travel styles are further categorized as  Trip Type, Interests, Seasonal and Special Events , and  With Your Own Group .

For example, all the related tours will appear if we pick Adventure Tours under travel styles. You can filter the results further by destination, dates, duration, price, and travel style.

Check out its details, trip highlights, prices, reviews, etc. There's a list of FAQs below related to the trip and other similar tours for you to compare and choose from.

What destinations does EF Go Ahead Tours cover?

EF Go Ahead Tours covers many of the popular destinations worldwide. Here's a list of where EF Go Ahead Tours covers:

  • Europe:  Ireland, Italy, Greece, Iceland, England, France, and Germany
  • The Americas:  United States, Canada, Costa Rica, Peru, Ecuador, and Belize
  • Africa & Middle East:  Egypt, Kenya, Israel, South Africa, Turkey, and United Arab Emirates
  • Australia & Asia:  Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, India, and Thailand

Benefits of EF Go Ahead Tours

  • Worry-free guarantee

If you cancel the booking within 60 days from the reservation date, you are entitled to a full refund. EF Go Ahead Tours also allows you to change the date of tour or destination up until your final payment day. It helps you book with confidence knowing there's ample time to make changes.

In addition to covering many destinations worldwide, the tour company also offers a diverse range of tours. Group trips for solo travelers provide ample privacy while facilitating socialization. In addition, there are cruise tours, rail tours, food & wine tours, battlefield tours, winter tours, and many more!

  • Fewer people

The worrisome factor about large group tours is they can seem too crowded and noisy to have a quality experience. There's also less opportunity to get to know other travelers better. In this case, small group tours offer a more intimate travel experience. Guides can give individual attention and advice easily. Overall, it makes the trip more enjoyable and memorable.

  • Flexibility

If you like to travel with friends but don't have the liberty to plan, get EF Go Ahead Tours to plan one for you. You can explain your requirements and get a whole new itinerary done or choose one they offer. Invite your friends and/or family, choose your travel dates, and enjoy. There's also the option of organizing faith-based tours!

Adventure travel experiences.

Drawbacks of EF Go Ahead Tours

  • Increase the number of tours

While there's a variety of tours, different trip options under each category are quite limited compared to other guided tour companies like  G Adventures  or  Contiki . For example, there's only one tour option for India. They can also add more countries to their list of destinations.

  • Improve refund and cancellation issues

Customers had faced refund and cancellation issues for scheduled or booked tours during the pandemic. There were complaints of EF Go Ahead Tours not refunding the money as per its cancellation policy. But, it's a common problem that many tour companies dealt with their customers following the Covid outbreak. We hope they are resolved now.

EF Go Ahead Tours vs. EF Ultimate Break

The most significant similarity between EF Go Ahead Tours and EF Ultimate Break is that they are managed by EF Education First Tours. This means that you'll most likely be getting a similar refund, cancellation, and customer service policies between the two tours.

EF Go Ahead Tours identifies itself as the 'older sibling' of EF Ultimate Break. Ultimate Break Tours is geared towards college students and folks aged 18-29, while Go Ahead Tours admits anyone 6 and above. So, the tours offered also tend to be different from each other.

EF Go Ahead Tours has a wide variety of tours catering to all age ranges. It also provides both private and group tours. EF Ultimate Break only offers group tours and are tailored to suit youth's preferences.

Is EF Go Ahead Tours worth it?

Yes! We came across great GoAheadTours reviews online about the unique and immersive experience EF Go Ahead Tours offers. Go Ahead tours are a great way to travel if you prefer to join a guided tour.

Like  Flash Pack , it's an excellent choice for older travelers looking for trips that involve activities beyond partying and drinking. Overall, the tours are ideal for anyone, really.

Our Rating: 4.5/5

  • Variety of tours
  • Smaller groups
  • A limited number of tours
  • Refund and cancellation issues

Has anyone used Go Ahead Tours? How were the hotels? Any info will be useful. Thank you for your input.

' class=

We used Go Ahead Tours July 2013 for a tour of Croatia & Slovenia. We were very happy with the accommodations. The hotels were very nice and close to the city centers so getting around on your free time was easy. We have booked an Australia New Zealand 2015 tour with them.

Thank you for your reply. I will travel with them this summer.

Last year, I went on a London, Paris and Rome tour through Go Ahead Tours. The only

hotel that was decent was London. Paris and Rome locations were among the worst I

had ever stayed in anywhere! Also, I would advise against purchasing travel insurance

through this tour operator. I had occasion to call the insurer for a possible claim only

to reach a number that was disconnected! When I returned to the states I called

Go Ahead Tours and was told they had no control over the insurer not having

a working telephone number! UGHHHH!

Thank you Sugar for your reply. I am traveling in July and have not received air & hotel info yet. It seems that GoAhead saves money by putting people in hotels that are not near anything decent. I was going to purchase their insurance but they had a cut off date and it was passed that date, so I was unable to purchase it.

This post was determined to be inappropriate by the Tripadvisor community and has been removed.

I just received my hotels and so far so good. I am excited and I believe I'll be very happy with my tour.

Just returned yesterday from the walking tour of Northern Italy/Cinque Terre - it was fabulous. Don't worry, I think you will be happy.

Thank you for the reply.

I am all set. Paperwork just arrived.

Tip envelopes, also.

If you don't mind, can you give me an idea as to your tipping?

Did you follow the guide-line? I believe the suggestion is too steep.

Thank you for shedding some light on this matter.

We followed the recommended guidelines, but in US dollars, not Euros. It does say pay in your currency, we basically tipped the value of the US tip in Euros. If your guide is good, they are worth it. They know who to call for various independent activities. We actually had an issue in one hotel where I left everything locked in my room safe and our guide was extremely helpful in getting everything back to us in 2 days! Everything arrived expertly packaged which we were grateful for because it was a nice chunk of change in items we left behind. When we were in Cinque Terre, she knew how to navigate the train system quickly and she also helped others arrange for appointments to the museums in Florence on their after stay. Ours even offered to take us on an unscheduled side trip for a slight extra cost, unfortunately we didn't get to do this because the weather did not cooperate. Where are you headed?

Thank You very much! You have been very helpful.

I feel much better reading your reply. We were going to see how helpful and good the guides are. If they are good, like yours, we would tip the way you did.

We are going to London & Paris. We just paid $1.80 for just one Pound/ Sterling. Using US $ for tips would be so much better.

Has anyone used Go Ahead Tours? How were the hotels? Any info will be useful. Thank you for your input.

Hi Joppa: I've been in communication with another couple that reserved a trip with GoAhead and they told me that they also have had slow response, small problems etc. from them. I guess I was lucky because my contact person at GAT was excellent. They did have to use an overnight carrier to get my final papers to me before I left. It did not bother me a bit.

Yes, I was on the exact same tour as you are on. I am in the same hotels also. I did a hotel review at Trip Ad. for both hotels. Just go to the hotel reviews and you'll find it.

We traveled to Paris and really had only 2 1/2 days in Paris. We did not know about the extension, in Paris, and never had time to visit the Eiffel Tower. You can PM me at TA with any questions.

Hi.. I am actually looking at this particular london and paris tour for september. I am glad to see that you enjoyed it. Can you give me an idea of the age groups that are on the tour? I just spoke with a rep and price is actually higher than advertised online so have to reconsider a bit. She did tell me that the hotel for the trip on the 27th is the Marriot Maida Vale in london and said it is very nice. Is there any more that you can say about the trip and touring around on your own if you don't do all of the excursion type activities? I am in mid age and traveling with son in younger 20's. thanks

Hi Skylar, I went on the London /Paris tour and it was great. If you go to the GoAhead site, you will see my review of my trip. I only did one extra tour in each city. I went to Stonehenge and Versailles. Both hotels were near the subway and we took public transportation all over. They provide an excellent tour of each city and it is included in the tour. Two dinners are also included, along with daily breakfast.

Due to the fact that my tour was in July, we had some multi-generation families, on the tour. The ages went from nine year old children, their parents and grand-parents. There were young couples, maybe 25-35 years old. With such a large group, you will get people of all ages. There was a spry gentleman from, Long Island and he was 90 years old. You and your son will not have a problem fitting in. The group doesn't hang

out together much. Just for the orientation, two dinners and two tours and EuroStar to Paris.. You are mostly independent and the tour director will help you map out your travels.

You can PM me at TA if you need more info.

I used Go Ahead tours in October 2012 for a trip to Peru that included Lima, Cusco, and Machu Picchu and very much enjoyed the experience. The group consisted of about 20 people and the majority of the travelers were in their 50's or retired though there were about 6 people in 30-40 age bracket. The trip was well organized and we used a comfortable coach and then 2 vans to travel the narrow streets of some areas. The rail trip to and from Machu Picchu was fun with lots of scenery, snacks, and a lovely fashion show on the trip back. Hotels were OK though sometimes noisy. But that wasn't the fault of the tour vs. the luck of being booked into a hotel with some very rude guests playing in the halls at 2 AM. Provided meals were plentiful and offered a wide variety of foods. In Peru you will likely incur a small expense for additional water even though bottled water was provided by hotels.

What impressed me most about the tour was the tour leader, Edwin. Edwin proved to be very friendly and knowledgeable and was available 24/7.

Many of my fellow travelers had used Go Ahead Tours several times and they all remarked that the vast majority of tour leaders were exceptional.

Travel to a foreign country can always be difficult but I felt very much at ease in Peru primarily because of a very professional tour leader.

As a sidebar, I never buy the travel insurance offered by the tour company. There are several web sites that let you search multiple insurance carriers based on price and your specific needs. I travel to Africa and always make sure my travel insurance includes evacuation for medical emergencies and/or political upheaval.

Thanks so much for you reviews....very helpful. Possibly looking at the London city tour as well rather than spending so much time with traveling between the two places in that it is only a week. We don't have the availability to do the add on days so want to make the most of the time.

Yes, only London may be a better choice. We only had 2 1/2 days in Paris because half a day was used for travel between London & Paris. The Marriott was an excellent hotel and near transportation. We used both the subway and bus to travel around London. There is a supermarket near the hotel.

I have used go ahead for the past four years in Europe and found their hotel choices to be just fine. I will travel with them again, no questions asked.

Thank you for this post, as I am looking into traveling with them next year. Good to know about the insurance issues, too.

I traveled with Go Ahead on two trips. My first was the National Parks tour in the US. It was fast paced. but we saw a lot and it was a lot of fun! It was a bus tour. My tour guide was excellent.. he really went out of his way to make our trip fun and even found other little excursions for us. He treated everyone on the bus to ice cream one day. My second trip was the 7 day stay in Paris. I extended my stay to 9 days, and that one was also wonderful. My guide was very good and helped with the Metro and advice of seeing the city. I loved that trip, too! As far as accommodations, you get the basic hotel/motel. For the most part, they're similar to your usual chain hotels, like Marriott, etc. Some were not as nice, but most were good. As long as they are clean and not in a dangerous area, I'm happy. There were a couple of places that were really nice.. they looked like a step above the usual chains. My hotel in Paris was very good.. good room, clean and the breakfasts were extensive and tasty. I would definitely recommend Go Ahead to anyone, and I'm looking to book more trips through them.

VERY DIDDAPOINTED

went to Tenby 8th April having been several times with GB we knew what to expect. this time were so disappointed, The Clarence House Hotel is were we stayed. The hotel was certainly not up to standard. The entrance and lounge area very dated, furniture crammed and grubby. Our bedroom was certainly below standard .Too small, it had been one room and was divided by a wall down the middle ,cutting the window in half. to make two rooms/ the furniture was scratched and grubby, the two chairs were old metal ones . the cupboards which were supposed to be wardrobes needed decorating and maintenance. The windows dirty and gaps. The room was so small you could only get dressed one at a time, then one of you had to sit on the bed up against a wall. The bathroom had been recently changed but shower cubicle was too small once you got in it. The bed was clean. Food was good also service. The dining room however was extremely noisy owing to three coaches eating at the same time. Was chaos at times and like being in a school canteen, you could not talk to others as it was impossible to hear. Something needs to be done regarding a lot of people dining at same time. We find it hard to understand how GB chose this hotel. As we have travelled with GB before we will go again with them. Our driver was excellent driver and friendly. Thank you Michelle

We were a party of 8 and went on a 2 day trip two Bath & cotswolds. The coach was a Lakeside coach from Ellesmere a town near us. The driver was Wil and he deserves a medal. A young man of just 21 years he was absolutely amazing nothing phased him, even road closures and building works near our hotel we're navigated precisely. He was a fountain of knowledge and nothing was too much trouble for him. We all enjoyed the overnight stay in Bristol at Hilton Gardens good rooms & food especially the Full English breakfast. The coach was modern and had toilet facilities. Would recommend this trip and we all said we would book another. We'll done GB Tours.

Cancelled our long awaited holiday with 2 weeks notice absolutely disgusting treatment. I booked 9 months ahead, moms 85 years old and really wanted to go and see Cornwall again she hadn't been for years since dad was alive. So we booked to go to portobyan hotel in Looe along with my daughter, bought all our clothes and packed our suitcases. They hadn't even got the decency to ring us and tell us, we received a letter 2 weeks before departure. When i rang up the lady i spoke to seemed very dismissive and wasn't really interested in how devastated we all where offered me alternative holidays which i couldn't do because i work in a school so can only do school holidays my daughter had also booked time of work. Would never chance booking with them again. Shearings all the way

The Virtual ABBA Show was fantastic and met on all levels by the tour guide, the coach driver and our stay at the Yacht Hotel in London. Our guide was super-friendly as was our driver and they seemed to anticipate our needs and pique our interests. The show itself was wonderful and the next best thing to seeing the band - live. Brilliant!

I have just returned from the Isle of Man holiday with GB Tours and I must say that the whole experience was superb. The coach was Lakeside, from Ellesmere with Chris driving the coach and I must say that he was superb, easy to talk to and a fantastic driver. We stayed at The Rutland Hotel in Douglas and the stay was also superb. Food excellent, service excellent and the location which was on the prom was also great. The only negative thing that I would say is that if you do have mobility problems this is probably not the hotel for you. There are large steps to the front of the hotel and the lift only holds two people. The holiday was well organised with very little hold ups as we were entering the hotel. Their porters took all of the cases up to the rooms etc. You were well looked after throughout and I will definately be using GB Tours again. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

I have used GB tours many times over the last 15 years, I've been 5 times now, each time a different show. Value for money is amazing for the hotels and theatre tickets. Staff out of this world. Will definitely use again and highly recommend. They do holidays and weekends all over not just London
