Online visa application tracking is NOT AVAILABLE on UK Visas and Immigration website. To know the status of your UK visa application, you must use their email or phone option, which unfortunately is NOT FREE. You must provide your GWF number when calling or emailing them.

GWF number is the unique visa application number that was provided to you on your UK visa application submission. Without the GWF number, UK Visas and Immigration will not be able to provide you with a status update.

UK Visa Rejection Appeal from Pakistan

You can only appeal to the tribunal if you have the legal right to appeal – you’ll usually be told if you do in your decision letter. Talk to a solicitor or an immigration adviser if you’re unsure whether you can appeal. You have 28 days to appeal after you get your decision. If you have to leave the country before you’re allowed to appeal, you have 28 days to appeal once you’ve left the country. If you apply after the deadline, you must explain why – the tribunal will decide if it can still hear your appeal. Apply online if you can – online appeals are quicker than a post or fax appeals.

Disclaimer: Although the information on this website has been prepared with the utmost care, we can not accept any responsibility for inaccuracies contained herein.

Remain honest while submitting the applications, do not enter wrong information or submit fake or forged documents, if the visa is rejected in the past than enter proper reason or rejection. The visa rejection rate for UK from Pakistan is very high. Provide as many documents as possible to convince the visa counselor that you are going for a visit and will return back on time. The more ties to Pakistan you will show, the more it will be easier for you to get the visa.

If you are paying taxes to FBR in Pakistan than submit your tax returns of the current year and several earlier years, but make sure the income you mention in your forms should match the income you have shown in your tax returns. If you have some property, property or land than submit its documents as well. If you are staying at some one’s house than mention how many bedrooms they have in their house, the visa counselors check the accommodation seriously, and if the sponsor does not have enough space or bedrooms to keep you or your family than your visa will be rejected.

Its recommended that you book hotels online from any big site like Booking.com, Agoda, etc, and attach the booking confirmations along with the applications. You can cancel the bookings if your visa is rejected.

Choose the Right UK Visa Type

1. UK Tourist Visa

The UK Tourist Visa, formally known as the Standard Visitor Visa, is designed for individuals wishing to visit the United Kingdom for leisure, tourism, visiting family or friends, participating in sports or creative events, or conducting business-related activities for a short duration.

2. UK Transit Visa

The UK Transit Visa is for individuals passing through the United Kingdom on their way to another destination. This visa allows entry into the UK for a short period solely for the purpose of transit and doesn’t permit stays beyond the transit duration or engaging in other activities.

3. UK Work Visa

The UK offers several work visas catering to individuals planning to work in the country, each designed for different purposes and eligibility criteria. Here are some of the primary work visas:

  • Skilled Worker Visa: This visa is for individuals who have a job offer from a UK employer with a valid sponsor license. Applicants must meet specific skill and salary requirements relevant to the job.
  • Intra-Company Transfer Visa: Designed for employees of multinational companies who need to be transferred to a UK branch for training or to fill a specific position.
  • Global Talent Visa: Aimed at exceptionally talented individuals in fields like science, engineering, humanities, digital technology, arts, and research.

4. UK Study Visa

The UK Study Visa, officially known as the Student Visa (Tier 4), is designed for individuals who wish to pursue their education in the United Kingdom. Whether it’s for a degree program, a short course, or an English language course, this visa allows international students to study in the UK.

5. Other Visas Types

Certainly! Alongside the major visa categories like work, study, tourist, and transit visas, the UK offers several other visas catering to specific purposes and situations:

  • Family Visa: For individuals who wish to join family members who are either UK citizens or settled residents, including spouses, partners, children, and dependent relatives.
  • Start-up and Innovator Visas: Specifically for entrepreneurs who want to start a business or develop an innovative idea in the UK, requiring endorsement from authorized bodies.

For certain visa types or in specific situations, the UK visa application process may include an interview as part of the assessment. Here’s what you might expect during a UK visa interview:

  • Notification: If an interview is required as part of your visa application process, you’ll receive communication from the UK Visa and Immigration authorities specifying the date, time, and location of the interview.

  • Documentation: Bring all the required documents as specified for your visa type. This might include your passport, financial statements, travel itinerary, sponsor letters, employment details, and any other supporting documents.
  • Interview Process: The interview may be conducted by a consular officer or an immigration official. It can take place in person at a visa application center or via video call, depending on the circumstances.

It’s advisable to familiarize yourself with the details of your visa application and the requirements outlined by the UK Visa and Immigration authorities before attending the interview. Every applicant who is submitting a visa application must attend the visa application center in person, including children. Applicants under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

It’s possible to extend your stay in the UK under certain circumstances. The eligibility and process for extending a UK visa depend on various factors, including the type of visa you currently hold and the reason for the extension.

  • Visa Type: The ability to extend your visa depends on the type of visa you currently hold. Some visas may allow extensions while others may not.

  • Duration of Extension: The duration of the extension granted can vary based on your circumstances and the visa type. It might be possible to extend for a few months or even longer, depending on the situation.
  • Processing Time: Extension processing times can vary, so it’s advisable to apply well in advance of your current visa’s expiration date.

Before applying for an extension, carefully review the visa conditions and guidelines provided by the UK Visa and Immigration authorities. Ensure you meet the eligibility criteria and submit a complete application to increase the likelihood of a successful extension.

  • Accommodation Plans : Proof of where you will be staying throughout your visit is required. This could be a hotel booking confirmation or an invitation letter from a UK resident who will be hosting you.
  • Intention to Return : You’ll need to prove your intent to return to Pakistan once your visa expires. This can often be demonstrated through ties to your home country, such as employment or property ownership.

Required Documents

While the requirements may vary slightly depending on the specific visa you are applying for, these are the general documents needed:

Ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months from your intended date of arrival in the UK.

Application Form

You’ll need to complete the application form online through the official UK government website.

Biometric Information

As part of the application process, you’ll need to attend a biometrics appointment where your fingerprints and photograph will be taken.

Invitation Letter

If you’re visiting family or friends or attending a business meeting, an invitation letter from the host is often required.

Financial Documents

Recent bank statements (typically from the last six months) will need to be presented to confirm your financial stability.

Employment Verification

If you’re employed, an employment verification letter may be required to show ties to Pakistan.

Tax Records

Some applicants may need to provide tax records as additional evidence of financial stability.

Travel Plans

Though not advisable to make any non-refundable bookings, you’ll need to provide a general outline of your travel plans.

Additional Documents

Depending on your circumstances, other documentation like marriage certificates, academic qualifications, or business registration documents might be needed.

Application Fee

As of the year 2024, the application fee for a Standard Visitor Visa is £115.

This fee is non-refundable, even if the visa application is denied, so make sure all your documents are in order before submitting the application.

Application Process

  • Online Application : The UK Visa application process begins online. You’ll need to complete the application form, pay the visa fee, and schedule an appointment at a visa application center.
  • Document Submission : Gather all required documents and submit them at your scheduled appointment. At this time, you will also provide your biometric data.
  • Interview : Some applicants might be required to attend an interview. You’ll be notified if this applies to you.
  • Decision : After your documents and biometric information have been processed, you’ll receive a decision, typically within 15 working days. In some cases, especially during peak times or if additional documentation is required, processing could take longer.
  • Visa Stamping : If approved, your passport will be stamped with the visa, allowing you to travel to the UK for the duration stipulated.

What Are The Special Considerations for Pakistani Nationals?

  • Additional Screening : Pakistani nationals may be subject to additional security checks, which could prolong the application process.
  • Travel History : A stable travel history can be beneficial in the application process but is not a mandatory requirement.
  • Health Insurance : It’s advisable to have comprehensive health insurance as the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) coverage does not automatically extend to visitors.
  • Credibility Interviews : Be prepared for a credibility interview where you’ll be asked about your plans in the UK, your background, and other pertinent information.

How To Extend Your Stay

If you find that you wish to extend your stay in the UK, it’s crucial to start the extension process well before your current visa expires. Here’s how:

  • Eligibility : Check that you meet the extension criteria, including proof of ongoing purpose in the UK and sufficient funds to sustain your extended stay.
  • Application : Submit an online application form and pay the required fee, which will differ based on the type of visa you initially had.
  • Documentation : Gather all required documents, which are generally similar to those needed for the initial visa application.
  • Biometric Information : Update your biometric information at a local center if required.

Please note that you should not assume the extension will be granted and should have contingency plans in place.

What Happens If My Visa Is Refused?

If your UK Visit Visa is refused, the notice will usually indicate whether an appeal is possible and the deadline for doing so.

  • Grounds for Appeal : These could include proving that a mistake was made in the evaluation of your application or that required documents were not considered.
  • Legal Advice : Consider seeking advice from an immigration lawyer who specializes in UK visa appeals.
  • Filing an Appeal : Follow the procedure outlined in your refusal notice, which may include submitting an appeal form and additional documentation.
  • Alternative Routes : If an appeal is not possible or fails, you might be able to apply for a different type of visa or reapply by addressing the reasons for refusal.

Can I Apply For My Visa As A Family?

Applying for a UK Visit Visa as a family entails additional layers of documentation and requirements:

  • Group Applications : While there’s no group application per se, family members must submit their own individual applications.
  • Linking Applications : During the online application process, you can link family members’ applications to indicate that you’re traveling as a family.
  • Minors : Applications for minors must be completed by a parent or guardian and must include additional documents like a letter of consent from both parents and copies of their passports.
  • Dependents : If traveling with dependents, you’ll need to provide additional documentation demonstrating your relationship and your ability to support them during the stay.

6 Visa Application Mistakes to Avoid

Securing a UK Visit Visa involves strict adherence to procedures and requirements. A small oversight can result in delays or even a denial. Here are some mistakes to avoid:

  • Incomplete Documentation : Make sure you’ve gathered all required documents before applying. Missing even one could result in an incomplete application.
  • Incorrect Information : Double-check all the information on your application forms. Incorrect data can be grounds for visa denial.
  • Insufficient Funds Proof : Failing to adequately prove you have sufficient funds to sustain your trip could be a major setback.
  • Lack of Travel History : While not a strict requirement, having a lack of travel history and failing to justify it can raise questions about your intentions.
  • Overstaying Previous Visas : If you have a history of overstaying your visas in any country, it can affect the decision on your current application.
  • Not Preparing for the Interview : If an interview is required, failing to prepare adequately can result in an unfavorable outcome.

Can I Work in the UK on a Standard Visit Visa?

No, you cannot work in the UK on a Standard Visit Visa.

This type of visa is specifically intended for tourism, visiting family or friends, or short-term business activities like attending meetings or conferences. It does not permit any form of employment, whether paid or unpaid, in the UK.

Engaging in work while on a Standard Visit Visa is a violation of visa conditions and can have serious legal and immigration consequences.

Can I Study in the UK on a Visit Visa?

Yes, you can study in the UK on a Visit Visa, but only for a short duration.

The Standard Visit Visa allows for study up to 30 days, provided it is not the main reason for your visit to the UK.

If you intend to study for a longer period or if your main purpose of visiting the UK is to study, you should apply for the appropriate student visa.

Can I Switch to Another Visa Category While in the UK on a Visit Visa?

Generally, you cannot switch to another visa category from within the UK while on a Standard Visit Visa. This visa category does not allow for switching to work, study, or other long-term visa categories.

If you wish to apply for a different type of UK visa, you typically need to return to Pakistan and submit a new visa application from there, meeting the specific requirements of that visa category.

If you and your UK-residing family member fulfil the qualifying conditions, you can visit them and stay for six months. You must prove that the person you want to see is a relative or an unmarried partner. For example, you may visit your child or spouse who lives in the UK.

If you intend to visit your family in the UK multiple times, you may apply for a long-term standard visitor visa, which can be obtained for two, five, or ten years. During the validity of the visa, Pakistanis and other eligible nationals are permitted entry to remain in the UK for a maximum of six months at a time.

You can take an exam, have a medical checkup, enrol in a recreational course, travel to the UK for tourism, or spend time with your family members when you have a UK family visitor visa. But you cannot get public benefits or work (paid or unpaid).

Consider a different visa if you want to marry in the UK. For example, if you want me to register a civil partnership, you can seek a marriage visitor visa. Otherwise, it would be best if you got a fiancé visa.

Applying for a standard visitor visa or family visitor visa can be done three months before departure to the UK.

Step 1: Online application

UK family visitor visa applications usually begin online at the UKVI website. Before filling out the form, please click the appropriate category of visa you are applying for, which is tourism or visiting family and friends under the standard visitor visa category.

Put in your details as requested in the online form. You must be a resident of Pakistan if you wish to click on Pakistan as your biometric provider. After filling in the details, you will be asked to pay the visa fees to continue the process.

Step 2: Make an Appointment at the Visa Centre

Schedule a visa appointment at the nearest centre to you in Pakistan. VFS partners with UKVI for visa applications from Pakistan. They have centres in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and Mirpur.

You can check the exact address on the VFS website. With a prior visa booking, VFS staff will attend to you. The essence of the initial booking is for VFS to collect biometric readings.

Step 3:Upload the Required Document

The required document can be submitted by yourself to the UKVI site or with the help of VFS staff at the visa application centre. Using the VFS scanning service usually costs a service fee.

Scanning your documents can be done before your visa appointment or interview. Ensure that you upload the correct documents requested by the UKVI.

Step 4: Interview Appointment

Getting to the visa centre on time for your visa appointment is advisable. Getting to the centre 15 minutes earlier than the scheduled time would be best. Your biometric details, such as your fingerprint and photograph, will be taken, making it necessary to attend the interview yourself. No one can go on your behalf.

If you apply for your children under five, their fingerprints will not be taken, only passport photographs. It is necessary that children also attend their visa appointments.

Step 5: Track the Progress of Your Visa Application

An email will be sent to you when your visa decision is ready. SMS notification service is also available to those with challenges accessing their email. However, a service fee applies.

Step 6: Collect Your Passport

After deciding on the application, the home office will contact you for your visa collection. You could request a courier service to pick up your passport or do it yourself. Utilising the former means that you will pay an additional fee.

Although some VFS centres only have the option of using a courier service. Inquire about which service is available at your centre.

Pakistanis can apply for a long-term standard visitor visa for multiple visits. You will only be granted this visa if you meet the requirements.

UKVI may give you a shorter visa, resulting in a return of your application fee. If you apply under 18, your visa will only be valid six months following your 18th birthday. In this case, the visa fee is non-refundable.

The family visitor visa fee depends on whether you apply for six months or multiple visits.

  • For a single visit of 6 months, a standard visitor visa fee costs £115
  • For regular visits of 2 years, a long-term standard visitor visa costs £400
  • A long-term standard visitor visa of 5 years costs £771
  • A long-term standard visitor visa of 10 years costs £963

The visa fee to extend your visa costs £1,000 for Pakistanis and other nationals applying for visa extension.

The visa process begins after you have attended the interview and submitted all necessary documents, including biometric details. The visa processing time usually takes three weeks.

You will usually get an email from UKVI at the end of three weeks.

The email will give details on whether your visa was accepted. The VfS centre in Pakistan should be contacted to collect the passport once you have received the email.

Factors That Can Prolong the Usual Processing Time

Several factors can extend your visa application process. Some of them are:

  • Inaccurate information on your application
  • Incomplete information provided in your application
  • Unverified supporting documents
  • A criminal record requiring further investigation
  • There has been an increase in UK visa applications

The best time to apply for an extension is when your visa is still valid, and you are in the UK. As a Pakistani, you can apply for an extension of your family visitor visa for up to six additional months.

As a standard visitor visa holder, you can apply for an extension of more than six months if you need medical attention in the UK. However, you must pay the extension fee to be granted extra months in the UK.

The UK family visitor visa falls in the standard visitor visa category. It is ideal for citizens of Pakistan who plan to visit their family in the UK for a maximum of six months at one visit.

Improved UK visa application system launches in Pakistan

As part of a global rollout, ‘Access UK’ (previously known as the Online Application Service) has launched in Pakistan yesterday, making it easier for customers to apply for a visa to visit the UK.

Improved UK visa application system launches in Pakistan

UK Visas and Immigration

The UK has introduced an improved online application service for individuals wishing to apply for a visa to visit to the United Kingdom (UK).

The UK is committed to making it more convenient, quicker and easier for applicants to apply for UK visas, and the new system offers a more simple and intuitive customer experience. In response to feedback from customers around the world, ‘Access UK’ will provide a number of benefits for visa applicants:

  • The application form is shorter, with questions logically ordered based on customer feedback.
  • The service will be available in a number of languages, including Urdu. However customers will need to supply their answers in English.
  • The form is dynamic and asks relevant questions based on a customer’s previous answers
  • Customers can review, edit and download their partially completed application at any point before submission
  • The application fee is displayed in the appropriate currency
  • Customers can apply, book their Visa Application Centre (VAC) appointment, and pay for the relevant service standard seamlessly.
  • The service is available on mobile devices, enabling application forms to be completed on smartphones or tablets

The service also offers additional convenience to customers who plan to make a separate application for a Schengen Visa. The system will partially auto-complete a Schengen application form, which is then made available to customers to download and print.

Following the success of Access UK in mainland China, UKVI is rolling out the service globally to customers applying for a Standard Visitor Visa, Visitor (Marriage & Civil Partnership), or Visitor (Permitted Paid Engagement) Visa.

Customers can now use Access UK to apply, book an appointment and pay for their application through the standard, priority or super-priority visa service (where applicable). Over 330,000 applicants have already used Access UK and feedback is really positive.

The service is offered in parallel with Visa4UK. Customers wishing to apply for visa routes not yet supported by Access UK (such as Tier 4 student visas) should continue to use Visa4UK.

The Mexican government published an agreement that will require Peruvian nationals wishing to enter Mexico as a visitor without permission to engage in paid activities to obtain a visa from the Mexican consular authority. The measure, announced on Thursday, will come into effect starting from April 20, 2024, and will not apply to Peruvians holding a valid visa or permanent resident card from any country within the Schengen area .

Since 2012, Mexico has waived the visa requirement for Peruvian nationals with visitor status without authorization to engage in paid activities within Mexico. However, as stated in the agreement published on Thursday, Mexico’s recent decision to revoke this privilege is allegedly in response to a significant increase in the number of Peruvian nationals entering Mexican territory to engage in activities not authorized under their visitor status. The Mexican government observed that part of this situation is reflected in the immigration filters, where they claim to have identified Peruvian individuals with visitor status who do not fit the profile of genuine visitors or tourists and who present inconsistencies in their documentation or information.

However, the agreement stated that the measure is temporary and will remain in effect until safe, orderly and regular migratory flows can be guaranteed. In this regard, the Mexican government has indicated that it will work with the Peruvian government to achieve this, as stated in Article 3 of the Agreement:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs shall carry out joint actions with the Government of the Republic of Peru, in accordance with current regulations, in order to ensure safe, orderly, and regular migratory flows that will eventually allow the elimination of the visa requirement for nationals of said country.

Nevertheless, the Peruvian Foreign Ministry issued a press release on Saturday deploring Mexico’s decision, saying that it undermines efforts to improve bilateral relations and affects commitments made in the Pacific Alliance to facilitate the free movement of people between the two countries. In addition, the Peruvian government announced that it would also impose a visa requirement on Mexican citizens wishing to visit Peruvian territory:

In response to the unilateral announcement by the Government of Mexico to impose a temporary visa requirement on Peruvian citizens wishing to visit their country, and in application of the principle of reciprocity, a fundamental rule in relations between sovereign states, the Government of Peru will impose a visa requirement on Mexican citizens wishing to visit our country. […] Like Mexico, Peru will make some exceptions, which will be specified in a forthcoming Supreme Decree. In this regard, Mexican citizens who have Schengen visas, British visas, Canadian visas, US visas, Australian visas, and Japanese visas, as well as those who are permanent residents of the countries concerned and members of the Pacific Alliance, will not require a visa (translated from Spanish).

It is worth noting that before the aforementioned agreement, there were already diplomatic tensions between Mexico and Peru. In December 2022, the Peruvian government expelled the Mexican ambassador in Lima Pablo Monroy due to statements made by representatives of the Mexican government in support of former Peruvian President Pedro Castillo , who was accused of attempting a failed coup . Despite this, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has continued to reiterate his support for Castillo, calling for his release and criticizing Peruvian President Dina Boluarte, calling her a “false president.” Then, in September 2023, López Obrador said that he would not attend the 2024 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Summit—which Peru will host—citing that Mexico “has no relations with Peru.”

Eichmann trial begins in Israel

On April 11, 1961, the trial of former-Nazi Karl Adolf Eichmann began in Jerusalem, Israel. During the Holocaust, Eichmann was responsible for coordinating the deportation of Jews from Germany and occupied Europe to concentration and extermination camps in Eastern Europe. In 1961, he was captured in Argentina by Israeli commandos and brought to Jerusalem for trial . A panel of three Israel judges found Eichmann guilty on 15 counts, including crimes against humanity, crimes against the Jewish people, and membership in an illegal organization under Israel's Nazi and Nazi Collaborators Law . He was executed by hanging on May 31, 1962. Learn more about the trial of Adolf Eichmann from the Holocaust Education & Archive Research Team.

Lyndon Johnson signed housing rights act

On April 11, 1968, President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1968 (often refered to as the Fair Housing Act ), an amendment to the landmark 1964 Act prohibiting discrimination based on race, religion or national origin in the sale, rental, financing or advertising of housing.
