Xpo Tours to Saona Island

Went with XPO Tours to Saona Island. What breath taking views of the island and the blue ocean. It was a smaller group which we loved . Katy was very knowledgeable. Thanks for a lovely day. Photographer pictures were a great price. Still trying to figure out how to download them. Not a techy. Also went with there transfer to and from the airport. They picked us in Punta Cana, then we took a two-hour drive by bus to Bayahibe port, then we took a speed boat there and drove to the Saona natural pool, 30 minutes later we continued with a ride to Saona beach where we had lunch and about 2 to 3 hours to relax.

The island is great in spots and not so much in others especially inlet area. Chairs are old. The food is sub par at best and the mosquitos are plentiful.

There are many different Saona Tours offered, we seen them on the beach, at the lobby sales rep and in our room brochures and they all seem the same. After a little research we came across xpo tours and the saona deluxe tour seemed different right away and it was. First of all I'm a person getting seasick pretty easy, so my favorite was that this one was going both ways in a speed boat, did not got sick at all. Then they really try to do the tour in a way that they avoid the other tours big crowds, like doing the tour backwards. The big difference between this one is also that they visit two most beautiful beaches while the other tours only visit one. I asked why they can visit two and the others not, well makes sense because the catamarans are to slow and they won't have enough time to go to the other beaches. Booking was extremely easy, I chatted with the XPO tour rep on whatsapp about a few questions and made my reservation online within few minutes, it's a one single page process, which the airlines would have an easy system like that one.

best cristal water and wihte sand beach I’ve ever seen. Tasty of regional recipte langusta was ona of my favorite culinary ecperience!

The catamaran trip and the saona islan beach , the animation. Also the natural pool amazing. The snorkeling is also great and the vip service is top notch.

Best booking experience with XPO Tours and Saona Deluxe tour.

We had a great experience from booking to the actual tour, everybody was so lovely. My first contact was with Nancy from xpotours to get more info on Saona and she explained to be the differences between the different options. We defiantly wanted something with less people and more relaxed as I heard some stories about long bus rides on the bigger tours. She had sent me this link with all the Saona tours and the Deluxe was our choice. We got picked up in a small minibus and only picked up 2 more couples on the way, the driving time was only around 1 hour to the boat were we were greeted by Katy and her crew, fantastic and professional people. The whole day trip was really great and everything worked out as planned thanks to the nice people involved, no call center or now AI ... still real people. In conclusion, highly recommend booking through companies which have a good customer service, and XPO Tours was very responsive in this matter, and for the Saona Tour choose one with less people to really enjoy the day.

Saona island is perfect, it was great daytrip. Tour guide Alex was perfect. Catamaran ride was amazing. Lunch was really good.

This is a trip that we would have had second thoughts about, we did enjoy it but it had a lot of hiccups! Our guide Santos was amazing however and did a great job of organizing this tour and explaining the history and culture of the Dominican Republic! You take a van to a meeting point in Punta Cana and then take a bus to the departure point, you then catch a small boat out to the catamaran where you enjoy a 1.5 hour ride to the island with entertainment and drinks provided! Along the way you stop in clear blue water and enjoy a warm, short swim in the Caribbean Ocean! After this it’s a short trip to the island where you have to board a smaller boat to get to shore where it is crowded with many boats arriving at the same time! You then have a short walk to a beautiful beach and are entertained with a buffet lunch. After this you can enjoy 1.5 hours in the water , which I recommend that you don’t venture out too far in as the waves and current are extremely strong! Good advice is to leave your sunglasses on beach in lounge chair. It is a long day and is around 12 hours from the time you leave the hotel till the time you get back!

It’s the best place of world ! The employees are the best ! The island is pretty good ! Amazing this experience! You need to do that !

Wonderful excursion. There is a lot of time in transport but the way they break it up makes it seamless. The buffet was surprisingly good. Rum was the only alcohol other than beer but we were ok with that. Highly recommend.

The views, the food and the beach were definitely worth the long journey but the transportation was somewhat disorganized but overall worked out super well and would definitely recommend. Best part of our trip!

Are Seavis Tours and Xpo tours the same company?

However I already have another excursion booked and as we are quite busy during our time there and we already have plans I have been trying really hard to get the Saona Island tour for this particular date (Friday 9th Nov).

So I have been asking around to see what other tour operators there are to check availability elsewhere. Now last night – having been recommended xpo tours on tripadvisor – I went ahead and booked this tour with xpo tours as they replied and told me they have availability for that day. So I thought, perfect!

I paid the deposit and then this morning I get a message from Seavis tours saying “I see that you have booked via XpoTours on the 9th. I don't completely understand why. Also like I wrote you already, on the 9th we have a German cruise ship coming in so that is why I have asked you if you could do November 8. On the 9th we only have Germans on the boat and we have already 2 boats going out, so a lot of people (all Germans). Please let me know what you would like to do as I am a little bit confused now as you are making double bookings”

I am very confused – I thought they were two different companies and I thought that different tour operators may go to different parts of the island with different groups on the same day. I had no idea. And if they are the same company why did xpo tours not mention anything about the German group etc. I only paid the deposit with xpo tours and not seavis tours.

What shall I do? I don’t know if to go ahead as planned or ask for the deposit back and change things around. Even if there is a German group going – I don’t see where the problem is. Had it been a private tour only for the German group I'd understand but if that was the case then why would I have been allowed to book with xpo tours in the first place?

Anyway really sorry for the long message but does anyone know what is going on? What shall I do?
