We (2 couples) spent 3 days in Istanbul with Umit Yildirim, our tour guide from Eskinazi Tourism Ltd. I had reviewed several tour companies and selecting Eskinazi and Umit was the best decision I made. Not only was Umit fluent in English, but he was also extremely knowledgeable with the history of Turkey and the sites. Umit presented the information in such a way that we became well educated with this ancient history. We spent 7-8 hours each day touring all the important sites as well as the city of Istanbul both on the European and Asian sides in a luxury Mercedes van. He took us to classic Ottoman and Turkish restaurants for lunches–not tourist spots. The tour was capped off on the 3rd day with a 2-hour Bosphorus Cruise in a Private Yacht. Day 1 Istanbul Tour – Old City Tour

Your tour guide will meet you at your hotel lobby or cruise port and start your Istanbul Old City Tour;

Highlights of Topkapi Palace Museum ; (Topkapi Sarayi) More than just an Imperial Residence of Ottoman Sultans. It was seat of Supreme Executive Council for almost 400 years long. Topkapi Palace is a great monument of Oriental architecture which resembles power of Ottoman Empire.

Byzantine Hippodrome / Sultanahmet Square ; where chariot races were held in Roman Empire times, Egyptian Column from Byzantine Empire time. Today German Fountain is cornerstone of square.

Hagia Sophia (skip the line service is not available for active mosques – there is a queue for the entrance);  (Ayasofya, Santa Sofia) Built in 6th century by Emperor Justinian. It plays a very important role in Christian and Islamic World. After the Ottoman conquest the bells, altar, and sacrificial vessels were removed, and many mosaics were covered to convert church into a mosque.

Blue Mosque (skip the line service is not available for active mosques – there is a queue for the entrance);  Built in the early 1600s for Sultan Ahmet I of the Ottoman Empire. Blue Mosque is truly a magnificent masterpiece of architecture, with amazingly delicate proportions for a building of such massive scale.  

Grand Bazaar ; (Kapali Carsi) The largest and oldest covered markets in the world with over 4,000 shops. You can find colorful products of ceramic, leather, rugs, carpets, handicrafts, clothes, silver, and gold.

Spice Market ; is a colorful indoor bazaar and has lots of shops offering a variety of products. Some of them are spices, purses, flavored teas, Turkish delight, nuts, as well as ceramics, and small souvenirs. Spice Bazaar is located in Eminonu Square which is the connection place of Bosphorus and Golden Horn.

Bosphorus Cruise ; is operated with public ferry to see both Istanbul’s European and Asian side. On the way we see Galata Tower, Dolmabahce Palace, Beylerbeyi Palace, Rumeli Fortress, old Ottoman villas, Bosphorus bridge, mosques. Your best Istanbul tour memories will be in Bosphorus. * Please advise if you prefer Private Yacht Option for Bosphorus Cruise .

Dolmabahce Palace ; Elegance and beauty with most luxury decoration, chandeliers, rugs, crystals, ceramic fireplaces. Beautiful palace, right on the Bosphorus with gorgeous furnishings, paintings, porcelains made for Dolmabahce.

Taksim Square ; A great place defining modern Turkey which witnessed important historical moments.

Cicek Passage ; A combined structure of traditional and modern construction methods and architecture style by Ottoman Empire is reflected here. Cicek Passage has very good food joints, cafes, shops, bars, night clubs around Taksim.

Istiklal Street; (Istiklal Caddesi) and Galata Tower along with embassies of European countries in Taksim.

Day 3 Istanbul Tour – Golden Horn Tour

Suleymaniye Mosque ; is the largest mosque in Istanbul and impressive both inside and out. Suleymaniye terrace offers lovely views of the Golden Horn and Bosphorus.

Fener District ; Continue exploring Istanbul’s rich religious history with a stop at Church of St. George. Since 1600s, the church has been the location of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. It is recognized as the religious center of Eastern Orthodox Religion.

Balat District ; lines of drying laundry stretch across steep, winding streets. Century-old Ottoman houses lean against each other in a combination of reds, blues, and greens. And art galleries and design shops along water.

St. Stephen Church ; Located on the shore of Golden Horn. Known as Iron Church because it’s made entirely of iron in 19th century.

Pierre Lotti Hill & Cable Car ; offers great view of Golden Horn for visitors. Take cable car to reach the top and enjoy beautiful scenery while drinking Turkish coffee or tea.

Rahmi Koc Museum ; here we visit industrial and cultural museum built by famous family of Koc. The family were leading power of Turkish Republic in industrial field since early period of 20th century.

Alternative sites for Rahmi Koc Museum ; Kadikoy Neighborhood by public ferry or Istanbul Archaeological Museum (requires 340 TL entrance fee per person)

Our 4 days in Istanbul itinerary is simply perfect for people who want to experience this mesmerizing city, but who don’t have the time or the means to enjoy a longer vacation in Turkey. Join us for a expertly guided tour of the city’s top attractions, including the magnificent Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, the breathtaking Blue Mosque, the Grand Bazaar, and more.

Enjoy a wonderfully scenic cruise along the Bosphorus, then round off your sightseeing with a leisurely climb up Lovers Hill to enjoy absolutely stunning views of Istanbul and the Bosphorus before returning to your hotel for your last night in Turkey.

4 Days Istanbul Itinerary

DAY 1 – 4 Days in Istanbul Itinerary Begins

When you arrive in Turkey for your 4 days in Istanbul itinerary one of the travel representatives will be standing by to meet and greet you at the airport, and to transfer you to the hotel where you will be spending the next three nights. Once you have checked in, our travel representative will go over your itinerary with you and confirm pick up times for your upcoming tours. After this, you will have the rest of the day free to enjoy as your wish.

DAY 2 – Guided Istanbul Small Group Tour

Enjoy a good breakfast at your hotel and then at the time which will have been confirmed with you, you will be picked up and your 4 days in Istanbul itinerary will get underway. Your first stop today will be at the absolutely magnificent Hagia Sophia. Built by Emperor Constantine during the fourth century to serve as a Christian basilica, this breathtaking complex was converted into a mosque by the Ottomans in the 15th century.

After your tour of the Hagia Sophia, you will then visit the absolutely splendid Topkapi Palace with its exquisite Treasury and Harem. This is a vast site that is also home to numerous kiosks and manicured gardens. The site stretches all the way from Istanbul’s historic neighborhood to the tip of the Golden Horn.

Topkapi Palace was the official residence of numerous Sultans from the 15th to 19th century. Today it is essentially a museum and one which houses a number of collections of priceless antiquities.

Following your visit to the palace you will then make your way to Istanbul’s famous Blue Mosque. This mosque is considered to be one of the most important religious buildings in the world. It is also very unique due to the fact that it has six tall minarets. Its celestial interior which was decorated using famous blue Iznik tiles is simply stunning.

After your visit to the mosque you will then be taken to a good local restaurant for some lunch. Once you and the other members in your group have all finished eating, you’ll continue on your way to the Roman Hippodrome. This hippodrome once hosted chariot races and circuses and was the primary venue of entertainment for the inhabitants of Constantinople for more than 1,000 years.

The last stop of the day will be at the famous Grand Bazaar which is the largest covered market in the world. Enjoy some free time at the bazaar and then once everyone in your group is finished you will be transferred back to your hotel for the second night of your 4 days in Istanbul itinerary.

DAY 3 – Bosphorus Day Tour and Cruise

Today your 4 days in Istanbul itinerary begins shortly after breakfast with a visit to the famous Spice Bazaar. After you have enjoyed some free time at the market you will then be taken to board a boat for a scenic sightseeing cruise along the Bosphorus.

During your cruise you will get to see several of Istanbul’s most iconic landmarks, including the Palaces of Dolmabahce, Çiragan, the Castle of Rumeli Hisarı, and more.

Today you will also visit the spectacular Beylerbeyi Palace which was built from white marble during the 19th century to serve as a summer residence for Sultan Abdulaziz. The palace also served as a guest house for important visiting foreign dignitaries.

Next, you will enjoy a leisurely climb up Çamlica Hill which is also fondly known as the Hill of Lovers. Enjoy spectacular panoramic views from the top of the hill and then you will descend and you will be transferred to your hotel for the third night of your 4 days in Istanbul itinerary.

DAY 4 – Your 4 Days in Istanbul Itinerary Ends and Final Departure

Enjoy another good breakfast at your hotel and then at the appropriate time one of our travel representatives will meet you and assist you with check out, and then you will be transferred to Istanbul International Airport in time for you to board your flight out of Turkey.

The Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey returns to the calendar again keen to show off the natural wonders of the country to the world and to provide an excellent spectacle for bike racing fans.

This year, just four World Tour teams have turned up in the shape of BORA - hansgrohe, Team dsm-firmenich PostNL, Astana Qazaqstan Team and Alpecin - Deceuninck so this will open up opportunities for some of the smaller teams to score a big victory in this prestigious race. 

With a host of sprint stages along the route it’s no surprise to see some of the world’s best sprinters present including Sam Welsford (BORA - hansgrohe), Fabio Jakobsen (Team dsm-firmenich PostNL) and back after illness the one and only Mark Cavendish (Astana Qazaqstan Team).

Travelling east to west the first seven stages hug the beautiful coast line hopping from town to town, resort to resort before a long transfer to stage eight in the magical city of Istanbul. 

The day's early break almost held on to the line but were agonisingly caught within the final kilometre. A couple more riders then launched very late attacks but in the end it came down to a mass sprint with the win being taken by Tobias Lund Andresen (Dsm-firmenich PostNL).

The young Dane also moves into the race lead as it heads north towards Kusadasi and even through there are a few hills it looks like being another sprint finish.

Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey 2024 stages

The eight stage tour starts with a predominantly flat 135km around the city of Antalya to provide opportunity number one for the big sprinters before starting its journey westwards along the coast line. 

Stage two from Kemer to Kas is a much longer 190km and with a couple of lumps near the start and a sizeable climb 60km from the finish it could see a much more attacking race.

Stage three from the popular resort of Fethiye to Marmaris is a very hilly affair but maybe not hilly enough to get rid of the sprinters who could have their day again at the finish.

There are two classified climbs on stage four including a second category ascent after 94km to shake things up so it is likely a much smaller group will make it into Bodrum to contest the finish.

Stage five between Bodrum and Kusadasi is lumpy again but the climbs are smaller so the pendulum again swings in favour of the fast men, although they will be made to work for it, especially over the final peak with 30km left to race. 

Stage six is the queen stage with a mountain top finish at Manisa. This 20km climb takes the riders up above 1000m altitude and will be pivotal in deciding the outcome of the general classification.

Stage seven has just one minor lump just before half way before an absolutely pan flat run to the line and then the race ends with stage eight in and around the bustling city of Istanbul.
