With just under two weeks until the Smashing Pumpkins bring their The World Is a Vampire touring festival to Australia, set times and a handful of new additions to the line-up have been announced.

  • READ MORE: Here are all the biggest concerts and tours coming to Australia in 2023

The Pumpkins will, naturally, close out each night of the festival, performing a two-hour-long set. Jane’s Addiction will play before them, performing for an hour each night, as will Melbourne punks Amyl and the Sniffers .

Sydney septet Battlesnake will be performing 30-minute sets on all dates of the festival, except for the second of two Melbourne shows, on April 27. Per set times, RedHook will no longer be performing in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide or Newcastle.

As previously announced, each show will also feature professional wrestling matches between Billy Corgan’s National Wrestling Alliance and the Wrestling Alliance of Australia. These will be staged between sets, with two to three bouts taking place in each city.

Today’s announcement also reveals a handful of local acts who have been selected to open up selected shows. Those will be PistonFist in Brisbane and Bribie Island, XCalibre in Melbourne (April 22 only), Soda in Adelaide, and The Silencio on the Gold Coast.

Billy Corgan, pro wrestlers and a medieval castle: inside Smashing Pumpkins’ weird gig for the ages

The Smashing Pumpkins frontman owns a pro-wrestling league – so of course the band is touring Australia with a troupe of wrestlers

  • Get our weekend culture and lifestyle email

C risp autumn sunlight is catching on Kryal Castle’s stone parapets on Sunday as I arrive at regional Victoria’s replica medieval castle to see the Smashing Pumpkins – one of the 90s biggest, multi-platinum-selling alt-rock bands. Fellow 90s icons Jane’s Addiction are here too, as are Australian acts Amyl and the Sniffers , RedHook and Battlesnake. And a troupe of pro wrestlers. Things are primed to get weird.

Believe it or not, the Smashing Pumpkins’ frontman, Billy Corgan , owns a pro-wrestling league, the National Wrestling Alliance, a few of whom he’s flown over to Australia to fight local wrestlers between the early bands’ sets. It took time for the crowd to warm to the spectacle, but they got there in the end.

“Pull his arse hairs out!” screams one encouraging spectator as a burly wrestler in a fur loincloth lifts another Lycra-wrapped man over his head. A knight pumps his gauntleted fist as a violent sunset majestically reflects off his suit of armour. Lord Corgan is spotted smiling politely before returning to his keep. Silly Billy.

Members of the National Wrestling Alliance perform at Kryal Castle

The opening act, Battlesnake, dressed as demonic Catholic priests, launch into a song called Revenge of the Witch, with lyrics referencing a gangrenous child. A priest, wielding a hot pink keytar, strips down to his jocks and scales the stage scaffolding. Nearby, a punter in wraparound sunnies makes a sincere assessment: “There’s so many good Australian bands, aye?” He’s not wrong.

Sign up for the fun stuff with our rundown of must-reads, pop culture and tips for the weekend, every Saturday morning

One such band is Amyl and the Sniffers , playing third, whose turbocharged singer, Amy Taylor, would have surely given the pro wrestlers performing between sets a run for their money, had she stepped into their ring. That includes the wrestlers Mecha Wolf 450 and Bestia 666, who had shown up for a tag-team match earlier in the day in robot dog and neon skull masks, leather and chains.

Amy Taylor of Amyl and the Sniffers on stage

US rock band Jane’s Addiction’s lascivious frontman, Perry Farrell, ups the pomp and ceremony. Hopping around on stage like a drunken court jester, he wriggles and writhes in an echo of the “Melbourne shuffle” dance style favoured at the castle’s notorious early 2000s raves. Some blokes nearby whisper disbelief at Farrell’s age (64), but they’re mistakenly thinking in decades rather than centuries, as Farrell is almost certainly an immortal vampire who hoards souls in his tiny hat. After all, the show is a stop on the World is a Vampire tour (named after the opening lyric of the Pumpkins’ seminal track Bullet With Butterfly Wings).

Farrell tries some surfing banter, before realising he’s nowhere near the ocean and course corrects from the track Ocean Size to Mountain Song: both are excellent.

Jason King from Melton at The World is A Vampire show at Kryal Castle outside Ballarat, Victoria.

“They told us we’d be playing in a castle and to look out for the crocodiles. But then we look up and see that inflatable chicken,” Farrell says at one point, understandably confused by the inflatable unicorn looming over the ramparts. “Fuck castles. They’re full of kings, they ain’t shit. That’s a silly fuckin’ castle.”

I stake out a spot for the Pumpkins’ set. Three-quarters of the original lineup is present: Corgan (the band’s only constant member), drummer Jimmy Chamberlain and guitarist James Iha. They’re touring the bands new material, ATUM – A Rock Opera in Three Acts (I and II are out now, III arrives in May); and open with its title track: an instrumental synth piece that could soundtrack an Aldi bootleg of the Legend of Zelda.

Still, the band’s holy trinity of albums, Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, and Adore (this last inclusion isn’t up for debate) contain everything worthwhile in rock music: unforgiving dirges, shredding, screamy bits, pop abandon, gothy synths and sonic experimentation. The band’s hits are unarguable, many of which they play: Today, Bullet With Butterfly Wings, Zero, 1979, Ava Adore. They even throw in a beloved deep cut with We Only Come Out At Night (because, vampires).

Corgan performs with Smashing Pumpkins on stage

Corgan decides to bring two of the wrestlers back on, a man and a woman, who are both blonde, muscular and upset. The woman ends the quarrel by grabbing the man’s head, leaping in the air and bringing his noggin slamming down on her shoulder in a move called a “reverse bulldog”. The crowd is almost entirely uninterested but the show must go on. One got the sense from both the bands and bewildered crowd that, between the rock gods and rock walls, head banging and head-butting, there were perhaps one too many pigeons stuffed in this pie.

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness was the first album this music journalist bought on CD: a double-disc behemoth containing enough grandeur, fantasy and imagination to inspire a years-long obsession. With its moats and turrets, the ridiculous castle made more sense as a setting than anyone was willing to admit. So in the spirit of the day’s wrestling ring announcers, it’s safe to say the World is a Vampire tour’s stop at Kryal Castle was: THE MOST ELECTRIFYING DISPLAY OF MEDIEVAL ROCK’N’ROLL SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT IN AUSTRALIAN MUSIC HISTORY.

Smashing Pumpkins’ The World is a Vampire tour continues around Australia until 30 April.

The world is a vampire festival brought guitar wizardry and the magic of smashing pumpkins to ballarat.

smashing pumpkins tour kryal castle

The Smashing Pumpkins brought their The World is A Vampire Tour to Kryal Castle, Ballarat on Sunday 23 April 2023.

By day Kryal Castle is a family amusement park; a time machine transporting visitors to medieval times to witness thrilling jousting tournaments and daring sword fights from knights in shining armor, to get lost in the hedged maze labyrinth and to watch Princess Merida-level archery.

Sitting atop of Leigh Creek overlooking the gold-mining town of Ballarat, Kryal Castle’s magic by day becomes a haunting setting of Dracula proportions by night; fit for the synonymous offering of The World is a Vampire Tour, led by Count Corgan.

Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews  here .

As we ascended the winding road to the castle gates, we were slightly disappointed that the lair was not open, but instead, the castle foreground was transformed into the festival site. Alas, a striking setting for a rockshow.

Very on-brand to the festival setting, Sydney septet Battlesnake serpentined their way through a piercing-prog set as the first command. Fellow Sydney-siders, RedHook as led by the ferocious Emmy Mack, joined the frontline merely days after the release of debut album Postcard From A Living Hell . They slaughtered the crowd with tracks ‘Bad Decisions’ ‘Cure 4 Psycho’ and ‘Imposter’, donning nurse outfits and straitjackets. Females continued to the front with the animalistic energy of Amyl and the Sniffers, delivering all of their hard-hitting tracks including ‘Security’, ‘Guided By Angels’,  ‘Knifey’ and ‘Hertz’.

Three stellar sets from local musicians all waving the flag for rock and metal in our country with two veteran international bands to come; what more could you want? Definitely not pro-wrestling. With Billy Corgan shifting his gaze to the pro-wrestling promotion game, The World Is A Vampire show became a hybrid music platform and pro-wrestling ring. Let’s not sugar-coat; it was weird, awkwardly received and off-putting.

Ignore the tumbling, back to the tunes for alt-rock relics, Jane’s Addiction. Leading in with ‘Trip Away’, they delivered eleven high-octane hits, backed by three dancers in red body-suits and 12 inch heels. This felt like a nod to the hair-metal era, where seduction was key and not cringe.

The LA rockers sans Dave Navarro (who is still recovering from the effects of long COVID with fellow ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer subbing in) were living the rock n roll life, as lead Perry Farrell clutched a bottle of red in his motor-cycle gloved hand. His charisma is unparalleled and his commentary quick; “They told us we would be playing in a castle. I was looking forward to the crocodiles and moat and I get here and there’s a fucking inflatable chicken. It’s okay we don’t need fucking castles,” he quipped before playing ‘Jane Says’.

smashing pumpkins tour kryal castle

The castle was a constant cause of commentary, continued by Corgan and co during their epic set; “Who lives at Castle Kryal? Does anyone live there?”. Not quite but the audience there to witness their coronation were living their best life. Loading with ‘Empires’ and set with tour namesake ‘Bullet with Butterfly Wings’, the 90’s heroes held their throne as grunge champions. Momentarily pivoting from Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness to Siamese Dream , for the euphonious singalong ‘Today’, they returned to the vampiric ‘We Only Come Out At Night’. Corgan, Iha, Chamberlin, Schroeder, along with touring bassist Jack Bates and vocalist Katie Coles sink into each other effortless on stage with their songs continually elevated, ringing out across the foreground.

“Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to the rockshow,” Corgan announced amidst the swirls of ‘Eye’ before kicking into ‘Ava Adore’. The pièce de résistance came from the marrying of acoustic arrangements The Churches ‘Under The Milky Way’ and a choral offering to the Kryal court which held the following introduction, “To the lovers, to the stoners, to the knights in the crowd, to the queens, to the princesses, and to the non binary, we dedicate this song to you. It’s a song called ‘Tonight Tonight’”.

Staying at angelic heavenly height, ‘Cherub Rock’ soared, ‘Zero’ shattered and personal favourite, ‘1979’ surged as we harmonized, ‘Lamented and assured / To the lights and towns below / Faster than the speed of sound / Faster than we thought we’d go / Beneath the sound of hope,’ overlooking the sleepy Sunday town of Ballarat.

The smoke haze of the forgotten WWE component lifted during the conveniently titled ‘Beguiled’ with the ring-routine returning to the stage, thankfully not too distracting given the explosion of sound. To wrap a monstrous event was the eight and a half minute Siamese Dream anthem, ‘Silverfuck’, Corgan, Iha and Schroeder reminding us of their guitar wizardry and the magic of Smashing Pumpkins.

Smashing Pumpkins to play at mediaeval Moorabool venue

smashing pumpkins tour kryal castle

Kryal Castle is set to host legendary alternative rockers The Smashing Pumpkins for a much-anticipated one-night-only performance at a unique mediaeval venue.

Taking place Sunday, 23rd April 2023, the event will be one of The Smashing Pumpkins’ first world tour dates since reforming after nearly two decades apart.

The World Is A Vampire tour boasts special guests, including alt-rock legends Jane’s Addiction and in-your-face rock from Melbourne’s Amyl & The Sniffers, as well as Sydney’s RedHook, Battlesnake and local acts soon to be announced.

The show will also feature professional wrestling matches between Billy Corgan’s NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) and the WAOA (Wrestling Alliance of Australia).

Having formed in 1988, The Smashing Pumpkins have gone on to become one of the most influential bands in history, with over 30 million records sold worldwide and eight Grammy Award nominations. Revered for their pioneering blend of hard rock, heavy metal and psychedelic influences.

Jane’s Addiction were one of the first bands from the alt-rock movement to gain both mainstream media attention and commercial success, with a sound all their own and their influence can be heard across nearly every sub-genre of rock music.

Kryal Castle chief executive Bart Hamilton said having one of the premier global bands of the 1990s perform at Kryal Castle is a “huge win” for regional Victoria and music fans.

“This is just the first of many gigs to come at Kryal Castle, so I hope the community will get behind the event and enjoy some amazing talent in a spectacular venue,” he said.

Fans are invited to join in the action at Kryal Castle on Sunday, 23rd April 2023, to witness an unforgettable evening of music, entertainment and memories.

Tickets are available online.

One cannot deny that Kryal Castle is an unusual setting for a massive rock show, a fact commented on by just about every act at Sunday's The World Is A Vampire festival.

From Amy Taylor drawling "Kryal Castle!" as golden hour hit, to the Smashing Pumpkins' guitarist James Iha riffing on "ancient battles", every act looked up to see the stone walls behind the crowd and seemed puzzled.

The Smashing Pumpkins, '90s alt-rock royalty, brought their mates Jane's Addiction for the Australian leg of their Vampire festival tour, and it was a one-two punch.

Frontman Billy Corgan was as powerful as ever, ripping through singles Bullet with Butterfly Wings and Today within the first five songs to the delight of the crowd.

The re-formed band - Jimmy Chamberlin is still one of the best drummers in the business, no one fills quite like him - was touring new material from another multi-part rock opera epic, Atum , but the biggest singalongs were the classics.

Corgan, in a long black coat and facepaint, remarked the crowd seemed more still than some of the other shows - he blamed certain narcotics, but perhaps the real reason there wasn't a massive raging mosh pit was the fact it was about seven degrees.

Among the highlights, it must be said, were a grinding cover of Talking Heads' Once In A Lifetime - far removed from a perfect needledrop moment at last year's Meredith - and Iha and Corgan acoustically covering a bit of The Church's Under The Milky Way before a stunning duo take on Tonight, Tonight .

Earlier in the day, it was bright and sunny - good conditions for an outdoor wrestling ring, perhaps, but despite Corgan bringing his own personal professional wrestling company with him, it was a novelty for most of the crowd.

Instead of music to amp up the crowd between sets, two very enthusiastic commentators followed the wrestling action on the PA, but since there was no video screen, there wasn't much to see apart from people doing the occasional flip off the ropes.

There were some wrestling die-hards down the front, cheering the local stars and booing the trash-talking, but the vibe felt off - maybe they needed Kryal Castle's own Sir Phillip, in full plate, to go a few more rounds.

The music, however, ruled - following keytar enthusiasts Battlesnake, Sydney's RedHook burst onto the stage with a flurry of surgeons.

They were theatrical and brash, with proggy-mathy riffs and costume changes, while frontwoman Emmy Mack owned the stage, climbing scaffolds and egging the front rows on.

A brief circle pit opened for Kamikaze before Battlesnake rocked up to throw toilet paper rolls into the crowd for Bad Decisions .

Amyl and the Sniffers, the hottest thing in Melbourne at the moment, recognised by everyone from Gucci to King Gizzard, put on a show for the ages, with frontwoman Amy Taylor in what seemed like a castle-appropriate chainmail bikini top and a drummer in fresh Western Bulldogs kit - complete with Ballarat logo on the shorts.

The high energy on stage was met with coat-and-beanie-wearing nodding instead of crowdsurfing - could this be the tamest show the Sniffers have ever played? - but the band proved they could compete in the same league as the bigger names on the bill.

Speaking of, Jane's Addiction have been on the circuit for most of the last 35 years, but haven't aged a day - Perry Farrell and co, minus guitarist Dave Navarro, sounded completely huge from up on the hill, accompanied by a troupe of dancers cavorting on scaffolds.

Ballarat is big enough to attract big international rockstars to our city, from Japanese veterans Guitar Wolf blowing the doors off The Eastern on a Wednesday night to providing the stage for JuiceWRLD's final show before his untimely death at the first Spilt Milk.

Kryal Castle's already put on a lot of big shows - Parkway Drive for New Year's Eve 2021 sticks out - but despite some fears about shuttle buses and long waits for food, hosting the Smashing Pumpkins so successfully hopefully points to more big names coming our way soon.

The Smashing Pumpkins Announce Tour With Interpol and Stone Temple Pilots

By Matthew Strauss

Paul Banks Billy Corgan Jeff Gutt and Dean DeLeo

The Smashing Pumpkins have announced a North American tour in support of their new album, Atum . The band’s The World Is a Vampire Tour will feature support from Interpol , Stone Temple Pilots , and Rival Sons. Find the Smashing Pumpkins’ tour dates below.

In a statement about the tour, the Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan said:

I grew up in a world where I needed to know bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees and the Cure existed, it meant there was a place for people like me to hang out and belong. That’s what The World Is a Vampire is about. Bringing back that sense of community. If you don't fit in, you belong here. It's about having a shared experience and respecting others, but ultimately having fun. A true alternative festival, where all the self-proclaimed weirdos and outsiders of the world can get together and have a party.

The band’s tour title, of course, gets its name from the opening line on the Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness song “ Bullet With Butterfly Wings .” The Smashing Pumpkins have said that Atum —out May 5—is a sequel to Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and also 2000’s Machina/Machine of God . Hear a new Atum song, “Spellbinding,” below.

Stone Temple Pilots shared their latest album, Perdida , in 2020. The record The band features original members Dean DeLeo, Robert DeLeo, and Eric Kretz with vocalist Jeff Gutt, who took over after the deaths of singers Scott Weiland and Chester Bennington .

Interpol released The Other Side of Make-Believe last year.

Last year, The Smashing Pumpkins completed the three-act trilogy ATUM, releasing the 33-track project in its entirety. Among many highlights, it boasted “Beguiled,” which catapulted to #6 at Active Rock and #12 at Alternative Radio Charts. “Spellbinding”emerged as the #1 most-added at Alternative Rock. Plus. Rolling Stone applauded, “ATUM is clearly meant to be the kind of record that requires your full attention, and Act Three makes for a nicely trippy conclusion to the whole project, as well as an intriguing listening experience in and of itself.” In a “4-out-of-5 star” review, NME raved, “This sci-fi-inspired epic is ambitious and complex.”

The Smashing Pumpkins are currently in the studio recording the follow up to ATUM as they prepare to release new music this year.

Recently, National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and President Billy Corgan proudly announced an exclusive streaming deal for NWA with The CW . Under this newly minted all-encompassing partnership, multiple NWA programs will be streaming and on-demand via The CW platform and portal in the United States. Democratizing access to action-packed wrestling from some of the sport’s biggest, boldest, and brightest personalities, all programming is notably available free of charge and without a subscription via The CW app. It represents a monumental power move for NWA. The partnership not only amplifies the brand’s presence throughout popular culture and the zeitgeist, but it also sets a precedent for wrestling, at large.

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).

Moscow metro tour: architectural styles of the subway.

smashing pumpkins tour kryal castle

Duration: 2 hours

Categories: Culture & History, Sightseeing

This metro tour of Russia’s capital and most populous city, Moscow, is your chance to get a unique insight into the beautiful and impressive architecture of the city's underground stations. Admire their marble walls and high ceilings representing Stalin's desire for glory after World War 2, and see first-hand how the interiors change with the rise of new political eras. Your guide will lead you through the complex network, which is one of the most heavily used rapid transit systems worldwide, with over two billion travelers in 2011.

Opened in 1935, Moscow’s underground system, now 190 miles (305 km) long with 185 stations, is today one the largest and most heavily used rapid transit systems in the world. On this Moscow metro tour, discover the impressive architecture of Moscow’s underground stations and learn how they reflect the Soviet era.

Getting around by metro, your local guide will take you through parts of Moscow’s infamous history. Stop at stations built during the time of the USSR (Soviet Union) that are praised as one of the most extravagant architectural projects from Stalin’s time. After World War 2, he was keen on establishing Stalinist architecture to represent his rising regime and a recognized empire. Learn how when his successor started the de-Stalinization of the former Soviet Union in 1953, the extravagancy of the architecture was toned down.

Discover how the unique character of each station reflected several different eras. While stations like Kievskaya and Slavyansky Bulvar have pompous halls and high stucco ceilings brimming with extravagant decorations, those built later, like Volzhskaya, are lightly adorned with sparse furnishings. Architect Alexey Dushkin and painter Alexander Deyneka were just two of the many artists who made these magnificent landmarks possible.

Revel in Moscow's glory days, as well as the years of scarcity, on this fascinating Moscow metro experience. Conclude your tour at one of the central stations in Moscow. If you're lucky, you may even find the secret entrance to the unconfirmed Metro-2, a parallel underground system used by the government -- a mystery which has neither been denied nor confirmed today.

Culture Shock Rating

We have a wide range of tours designed to give you an insight into the destination you're travelling in and there is something for everybody. The culture shock ratings considers the destination visited, transport used, activities undertaken and that "Wow, I'm really not at home now!" factor. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

This is the least confronting of our tour range. Transport used on the trip is either private or a very comfortable public option, the activities included are usually iconic sites and locations that are not all too confronting.

The tour can include a mix of private and public transport providing a level of comfort that is slightly below what you would experience at home. Sites visited are usually iconic sites, tours can also include market visits, visits to communities etc that provide the traveller with a fantastic insight into destination.

Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether it's a packed public bus where you are forced to stand, a visit to a local market, a local community, you are sure to have an experience that is very different from what you're used to at home.

The comforts of your home town and the environment you are used to are more of a rarity. Expect some challenging transport options, visits to local sites and areas that don't resemble anything at home.

You're out there in the global community! You are likely to be exposed to the elements, travel in whatever means of transport is available and basically take it as it comes, whatever comes! It can be tough.

Physical Rating

Our physical rating gives you an idea of how much huffing and puffing you can expect on the tour. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

These tours have very limited physical activity. Usually climbing in and out of the transport provided, walking through sites, markets etc included in the itinerary.

These tours have a bit of physical activity but nothing that should challenge you too much. This could be climbing on and off public transport through to a walk through the destination you're travelling in, they can include walking only tours or a combination of walking and transport.

These tours involve a bit of physical activity from walking up and down hills in the destination you're travelling in or the surrounding areas. Climbing on and off local transport or riding a bike up to 30 kms along predominantly flat terrain or jumping in a kayak for a gentle paddle on flat water.

These Tours will provide you with some solid physical activity. Whether its bike riding, walking, trekking, kayaking or riding on public transport you will need to have a good level of fitness to enjoy this tour.

Be prepared for some serious physical activity. These tours are our most challenging and involve some serious walking, hiking or bike riding. Can involve step climbs by foot or pedal and some challenging public transport options in the destination you are travelling.

Luxury Rating

Some trips are like a stroll on the beach, while others have you trekking alpine passes. Some of you thrive on camping out on the savannah, while others may prefer a hot shower and a comfortable bed in a lodge. Follow the grading systems below to find the right trip for you.

To help you choose the trip that's right for you, we've broken all of our trips down into four service levels. Measuring the comfort level of the accommodation and transport. So whether you're travelling on a budget and want to save money by using public transport, or prefer upgraded accommodation and are happy to pay a little more, then we have a level for you.
