Mod Summary

The goal of this mod pack is to rework the Health system of the Sims 4. Exploring the ability to take care of your Sim's Health all under the same roof if you wish.  ***REQUIRES SIMS 4 GET WORK***

Summary of Changes

We added/changed the following:

• NEW CHEATS - DISEASE FIGHTING SIMS:  You can now enable or disable a setting on an Active Sim or NPC Sim to make them wipe out illnesses that other Sims experience based on contact/proximity. The Herd Immunity experience is about to get a lot more easier to manage. 
• NEW WORLDS - NEW ALLERGIES:  With the addition of San Sequoia and Chestnut Ridge, we've added some additional allergies to these new worlds to explore. I mean, exploring new territories should be filled with sneezing. Am I right? Of course, you can also disable allergies within the Sim's debug menu as well.
• NEW ALLERGY CATEGORY - GRASS:  You can hank Chestnut Ridge for this one with its' Prairie Grass. We got to match realistic expectations by having it, ya know. 
• NEW NOTIFICATION:  Ever wondered if Linda overcame that Stomach Bug? She was forever showing progress, and then something just reverted her back? Well, now you will get a little notification to let you know the illness has passed. Keep in mind that  there is a chance some lingering effects might be present or show up, but that should be all you see once that notification appears. 

Most of the main parts of the Appointment process are the same as in previous iterations, but we adjusted it based on the feedback given in the past. Be sure to place at least one Clinic before making an appointment.  Please re-read the warning at the top of this post and follow the instructions found at the bottom of this download page.

When you start a new save or a save that didn't have Private Practice loaded in, your Sims will start to experience symptoms of either an illness or allergy.  Your Sim's world NPCs will also get ill. You can't send those NPCs to the clinic; they have to run through a Herd Immunity process. Their illnesses should be less frequent after that first exposure.  You can handle your active Household, though, by sending them to the Clinic to be diagnosed and have access to the needed medication.

Now, if at least ONE Sim in the Household has a standard Career (not a freelance or one that owns their own business), Check-ups are FREE and Sick Visits are 80% cheaper!

You now also have the ability to make ALL VISITS  FREE with our new Free Healthcare cheat that can be found in any active Sim's debug - Private Practice menu. You need to have  testingcheats true  enabled in order to get this menu. 

THIS DOES NOT MAKE MEDICATION FREE.

We've also fine-tuned the in-person Clinic visit to be more responsive.  You'll find your Medical NPCs more readily available, making the visit quicker for those who want the hands-on experience. Exams should also happen as soon as they are requested rather than waiting for the NPC to finish whatever tasks they are working on.

On the day of the scheduled appointment , your Sim will get a reminder. All PATIENTS will be put on Vacation so they will be ready when the time comes (mod adds a day of vacation, so no days lost). Caregivers will be called away from any job or location they were at for the appointment.

When it is time, you will see a pop-up to start the appointment that includes three options when your Sim's appointment starts. You can go with them, send them off by themselves, or cancel the appointment if your Sim needs to attend to something else. For the In-Person option, the mod will send your Sim(s) to the location of their appointment. Once there, follow the Guidance System for this Appointment. It will tell you what you need to accomplish with each patient scheduled.

Allergies System

Version 2.2 added a new Allergy System based on the regional plant species' pollen and spores that can develop allergic reactions over time. Certain pollens/spores are more allergenic than others (i.e., Mother Plant spores due to their invasive nature).

To start, you will want to set up a Checkup appointment at your Sim's Clinic or Health Center. During this Checkup, their Nurse Practitioner will deliver the results for any allergies that you will need to be aware of when sending your Sim out into the world. The first checkup will often reveal little to no allergies, but by design, you should see a change in this report.

As your Sim(s) develop Allergies to the above possibilities, you will notice negative emotional buffs appearing, giving you a heads-up that you may need to give your Sim(s) one of the Allergy Medications below. 

TREATMENTS (objects found in Build/Buy - search Private Practice):

Cold and Flu System

This mod version introduces a contagious Common Cold and Influenza virus system. Both viruses have their respective seasons (Common Cold is Fall/Winter, and influenza is Winter/Spring).

Sims have a chance of bringing home an illness from school or work or potentially catching a Cold if they’re cold or wet (not 100% realistic, but the chance is about the same level as a weather-related illness in the Sims 2). The Common Cold’s incubation period may be symptomatic (respiratory symptoms, throat discomfort, and dulled sense of taste), while the flu’s incubation is more common, with the virus’s effects coming on at once.

Both viruses  carry a chance of a fever (Feverish buff from Get To Work) , but a cold may bring about  head congestion (pressurized buff from Get To Work and occasionally a headache) . New storytelling social interactions are included, inspired by the Sims Mobile story events: Ask if Feeling Okay, Offer Tea, Suggest Calling in Sick, Offer Tissues, Ask How to Help, and Criticize For Getting Sick. Traits impact the sims’ reactions to such interactions.

TREATMENTS (objects found in Build/Buy - search Private Practice/Capsule Kiosks/by purchasing through a computer, pillboxes, and medicine cabinets): -  Home Remedies:  orange juice, green tea, to-go green tea, bee tea, wellness tea, and naps. -  Medication:

Infections System

This system introduces Ear, Sinus, Respiratory, and Strep Infections to the game. ll Infections are more likely for sims with allergies from the allergen system.

STREP INFECTIONS

Only strep Infections are contagious and can lead to (a currently very mild form of) scarlet fever if untreated. Strep Infections can be contracted while a sim is at school.

EAR INFECTIONS

Ear Infections are more likely to occur when a sim is swimming, and a Sinus Infection is more likely to occur if a sim is experiencing a moodlet like “Stuffed Up.”

RESPIRATORY INFECTIONS

Respiratory Infections are extremely likely for sims who are smokers or exposed to secondhand smoke in games using Basemental’s mod.

Additional Viruses

NOROVIRUS - Stomach Flu

Norovirus can be contracted at school or through the “What’s Up Chuck?” Parenthood chance card; it can also occur occasionally through an occasional event. It’s contagious through a broadcaster and  causes symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea (faster bladder decay).  There is a “throw up” self-interaction for sims with norovirus who cannot find or use a toilet (Child sims, particularly, as they lack the toilet interaction.)  Toddlers, who cannot experience vomiting, will instead have a loss of appetite (slower hunger decay), diarrhea (faster bladder decay), general fussiness (faster attention decay), and fatigue (faster energy decay).

TREATMENT:  None, except to keep your Sims home and comfortable.

MONONUCLEOSIS

Mononucleosis can be contracted at high school (if they have the “had first kiss” trait, letting them possibly kiss an infected significant other during school hours, other traits that might make them more inclined for such behavior, or the “slob” trait from potentially drinking another student’s water), drama club (from kissing scenes and potential water bottle mishaps), or the acting career (same as drama club). A sim carrying Mononucleosis in an infectious period may spread it through kiss-tagged interactions. Mono symptoms include sore throat, fever, fatigue (faster energy decay), and chills. After a bout of Mono, the sim will be immune to ever getting the illness again.

(NEW) Heart Attacks

If your Sim is continually in a state of high blood pressure or dealing with other related health risks, they could experience a Heart Attack. These events occur when a Sim suddenly feels terrible chest pains and dizziness. 

When this occurs, you will need to set up an Emergency Bypass Surgery appointment where they can immediately be seen for surgery. 

As with all Medical Emergencies, there is a chance of possible death if surgery doesn't take place as well as while in surgery. 

After surgery, your Sim will be sent to the hospital to recover for about two Sim weeks. Then they will need to start taking  Clopidogrel  in order to stabilize their heart condition and prevent future Heart Attacks. The more Heart Attacks a Sim experiences, the more likelihood of death to occur.

TREATMENT:   (objects found in Build/Buy - search Private Practice/Capsule Kiosks/by purchasing through a computer, pillboxes, and medicine cabinets): 

Your Sim will now have the below custom cabinets available for them to purchase in Build/Buy as well as Pillboxes. 

With Cabinets, you get the added function of storing and purchasing our medication if your Sim has gone to their first checkup. If it is a mirrored Cabinet, they still have the same functionality as other mirrors in-game. And we didn't stop there! We also added the ability to store and purchase medicine in EA's Base Game mirrored cabinets. 

All Pillboxes can be stored in the Sim's inventory or on any surface.  Due to a game limitation, they will need to be on a surface to access the options to Open or Purchase medication . 

As mentioned before, you can now purchase your Sim's medication with our new Medicine Cabinets or Pillboxes. In addition to that, we've also added the interaction with computers.

In addition, we added some notable small updates to this mod that we thought would make it even better.

• New Cheat: Activate Ultra Disinfectant - turns a sim into a Disease Curing Machine, curing all diseases from any sim nearby; this can be deactivated afterward with Deactivate Ultra Disinfectant within the same menu. 

• Added support for San Sequoia and Chestnut Ridge in the Allergies System.
• New allergy category - Grass; currently only applies to Prairie Grass in Chestnut Ridge or if it grows on the lot - pollinates in Summer, so handling Prairie Grass with a sim that has a grass allergy gives off a new buff.
• Now players will be notified when a sim has fought off an illness.  This should show immediately once exposed to a Sim with the Ultra Disinfectant cheat has been enabled on them. 

If you are new to this Private Practice process, this section will get you started preparing your save for the new options provided by this mod. You will need a lot with the Private Practice Lot Trait to get started.  T h i s   c a n   b e   a n y   t y p e   o f   l o t   t h a t   i s   n o n - r e s i d e n t i a l  except for LittleMsSam's Medical Clinic .  If you would like just a Clinic, you can use the Generic lot type with this lot trait. I made a test clinic (Newcrest Health Center) for you as well, so you don't have to build one immediately. It will provide an example of what you will need for each function of the Clinic and see the potential for additional features to come. You can then build whatever kind of Clinic you would like. To add my test Medical Center to your game, you can either use the tray files included in the mod download and put it in your Tray folder or look up the EA Account ID:  S i m R e a l i s t . When placing a pre-built Medical Clinic or Center, please be sure to go into Build Mode, confirm the correct lot type and trait, and then  S A V E  before attempting your first appointment.

The release of Private Practice 2.0.0 included Kate Emerald's Clinics and Center, which l  also made available for you to use with this mod. They will be available in the Gallery under the SimRealist name as well. We've also included the Generic (Newcrest) Health Center and Kate's builds in the attached download for your convenience. 

Objects you will need to have a complete Medical Clinic or Center are below . Kiosks and Sample Cart can be found in Community Items. The Private Practice sign can be found in Wall Decorations. The Get to Work Exam Bed can be found under Recreation objects with cheats  testingcheats true -> bb.showhiddenobjects.

Annual Thank You 2022

In December, we announced that we were planning to do another Annual Thank You gift since we liked offering this to our long-term patrons in 2019. We stepped it up a notch by removing the listing of Patrons from the mod's Welcome Notice and putting it in a new object, the Patron Plaque. This Plaque is the reuse of EA’s Might Plaque of Honor that came with Get to Work. We customized it to now show the Mortem logo and make it base game compatible. You can find this Plaque under the Generic Community Objects or just by searching Mortem Plaque.

This Plaque not only holds all the Active Patrons of a year or more as of Oct. 1, 2021, listing but also a new simple investment feature! Your Sim can now "invest" in Mortem's Funeral Homes by buying shares. Depending on how many shares Sim has will determine how much dividend income they will receive each week. We have it set to §125 dividends a week per share (1 share = §2,500). This Dividend will automatically deposit into the Sim's SNB account. This amount will never fluctuate since we didn't want to add in another complex system yet.

Conflicts/Issues/Notable Items Observed:

• Illnesses take some time to go away. Regular doses of required medication will alleviate symptoms and reduce illness time. 
• Sometimes your Sim may put the Urine Sample Cup on another surface other than the Sample Cart. It is best to have the Sample Cart in the bathroom to avoid this, but the RNs will take care of picking it up even if it isn't in the right spot.
• Private Practice clinic  does not  work on LittleMsSam's More Buyable Venue Medical Clinics.

This mod is a comprehensive health care mod which adds new illness, injuries, chronic conditions, allergies, medical emergencies, and pregnancy related health conditions as well as preventative care, natural immune system, medications and supplements, doctor visits, immunizations, deadly illnesses, and more.

The amazing and incomparable Sandy at AroundtheSims designed and created all the medications your sims receive to treat these conditions, injuries, and illnesses so please grab them else who knows what may happen...?!

Natural Immune System Levels

Upon loading the mod, each sim in the family will be automatically and randomly given a natural immune system level. Weak, Normal, and Strong Immune System traits will be visible. These immune system traits affect the rate at which Sims contract illnesses and the length of those illnesses.

New Diseases

New Deadly Diseases:  Bacterial Meningitis and Tuberculosis.**** Fair warning : these diseases can cause a new death - Death by Disease - if not treated or immunized against. Go see the doctor! Please note Malaria has no vaccine. Taking the Malaria pills or using the Elixir are your only options to fight the disease.***

New Infectious Viral and Bacterial Diseases:  Bacterial Sinusitis, Bronchitis (only as cold complication),  Cold, Ear Infection (Toddlers only) ,  Gastroenteritis/Stomach Flu, Malaria, Tonsillitis.

Chronic Conditions

New Chronic Conditions:  Anemia, Anxiety, Asthma, Arthritis (Adults/Elders), Eczema, Insomnia,  Migraines, Seasonal Affective Disorder, Kidney Disease, Diabetes, Hypertension (High Blood Pressure), Flat Head Syndrome (Patreon only), Deafness (Patreon only)

New Allergies:  Bees, Pet Dander, General/Seasonal

Accidents, Injuries, and Medical Emergencies

New Injuries:  Random Childhood Injuries, Sports Injuries. I edited the sprained ankle for CL to act more like the ones from SE. Currently you don't need to go to the doctor to treat these injuries, but there's a chance they can be serious and either require a cast or surgery and those require a doctor's appointment.

Surgery-Required Complications :  Appendicitis (Random), Tonsillectomy (as a complication of severe Tonsillitis), Serious Injuries

Medical Emergencies:  Small chances for medical emergencies including Postpartum Hemorrhage, Heart Attack, Aneurysm, Anaphylaxis from Choking or Bee Sting Allergy, Car Accident or Plane Crash

Pregnancy Related Conditions and Healthcare

Prenatal Visits, Pregnancy-Related Complication/Conditions (Preeclampsia, Pregnancy Related Anemia, and Gestational Diabetes), and Prenatal Vitamins to help with fetal development (and unrealistically reduces the chance of complications).  Your sim, if they have a pregnancy complication, have increased risk of labor induction and/or c-section. All new parent sims have the chance to experience the baby blues which in some cases can lead to postpartum depression.

There's a very small chance to experience postpartum hemorrhage. It can be fatal so treat it seriously!

Treatments, Medications and Preventative Medicine

Vitamins:  Toddler, Children, Teen, and Adult Vitamins to help supplement lifestyles and keep sickness at bay. Prenatal vitamins will help with fetal development (the mother will get positive moodlets) and again unrealistically reduce the chance of complications.

Treatments:  Each injury, disease, or condition has new treatments available to either treat, prevent, or cure these ailments. You can, depending on the severity of the illness/condition/injury, receive these treatments either over the counter or via prescriptions given by the doctor from the online pharmacy.

Medications and Supplements include:

Cough Syrup for Coughs and Sore Throat, Pain Relievers for Children and Toddlers as well as Teens and up, Aspirin (mostly for Arthritis), Allergy Medication (Animal Dander and General), Eczema Cream (Eczema), Anxiolytics (Anxiety and SAD), Epi-Pen (Bee Allergy), Iron Supplements (for Anemia), Vitamins (Preventative Care), Antibiotics (Bacterial Diseases), Antihypertensive Prescription (for Preeclampsia), and Prescription Cough Medication (for Bronchitis and Tuberculosis), and an Inhaler/Ventolin (for Asthma). Vaccinations are also available via well-visits or by going separately.

How It Works

Health diseases, conditions, injuries, and emergencies.

Medical Emergencies

Medical emergencies last for 24 hours or less. 

All chronic conditions are always chronic unless cheated away (i.e. the trait is removed). 

Accidents and Injuries

Minor injuries last for one day or less, and more major injuries can last up to 2 days. 

Pregnancy Related Conditions

Pregnancy complications lasts for no more than 6 days and are only possible once your sim is in the 2nd trimester.

How Diseases Works

All illnesses have three stages of their illness. Each stage will each have a corresponding buff that will tell you what they are from and how long it lasts. This is only available once your sim has been diagnosed. All Viral Diseases last 36 hours. Bacterial diseases last for 48 hours. Deadly diseases last for 72 hours. Stomach Flu lasts for 24 hours.

Viral Illness

For viral illnesses the most that can be done is home remedies, some over the counter medications to help sims be more comfortable (faster decay of sickness buffs, less likelihood of symptoms).

Bacterial Illness

Bacterial illnesses will need to be treated with antibiotics. A prescription is needed for antibiotics which means the sim will need to go the doctor to obtain one. Once one is obtained they can fill their prescription at the online pharmacy for delivery via their inventory or mailbox. Inventory is preferred for Tuberculosis antibiotics!!!

Deadly Diseases

Meningitis and Tuberculosis are both deadly diseases, but they are both treatable and Tuberculosis can be prevented by immunization! You must see the doctor in order to prevent your sims from dying from these diseases. There is no chance they will go away on their own and will only get progressively worse (but maybe you like that!). You can use the antibiotics prescribed to treat Tuberculosis or you can get immunized beforehand to prevent it.  If your treatment fails, there is a chance your sim could die of their disease.

Healthcare Services Menu

A menu on the Sim's phone is available for all sims child and up called Healthcare Services. This is the hub for all available healthcare services. Your sims go to doctor's appointments, go to therapy, go to the hospital, get vaccinated, or go to the acupuncturist.  

Infants and Toddlers can only attend appointments by clicking on the toddler or infant themselves! It helps if infants are in cribs or high chairs before sending them to the doctor.

If no health practitioner options are available, your sim does not have something from this mod.

Online Pharmacy

Sims can buy over the counter pharmaceuticals on the phone under the Purchase Pharmaceuticals option on the Healthcare Services menu. They can also purchase prescription medications at the pharmacy. A prescription from the doctor is required in order for this option to appear!

Preventative Care

Well visits are an important part of a Sim's health. They are currently needed every 21 days. They can provide the opportunity to be immunized! They can also help uncover valuable information.

Sims can choose to get preventative vaccines and allergy shots. Vaccines do not last  forever. After your sim has been vaccinated, they will lose their immunizations' potency after time. They will then need to be vaccinated again. Vaccination still only works against deadly diseases; they can still get other diseases.

**** All sims will need to have an initial well visit to have the full utilization of the mod! ****

Diagnosis Visits

General Practitioner Sims who are not feeling well can visit the doctor to get checked out.  They will visit their General Practitioner.

If your sim develops an allergy, they will need to see an Allergist in order to be diagnosed and receive the proper medication/prescriptions.

If your sim develops a chronic condition, they will need to see a Specialist in order to be diagnosed and receive the proper medication/prescriptions.

*Note: You may need to have more than one diagnosis visit though this should be a rarity. For instance, your sim could develop an illness and a new, undiagnosed allergy at the same time. This will require one visit to the GP to get checked out for the illness and another to the allergist.*

Specialized Providers:

Acupuncturist (for anyone, but made for those with injuries, sleep disorder, and migraines)

Going to the acupuncturist can be enlightening, relieving, and relaxing for your sims! This option is only available if your sims are in pain, uncomfortable, or stressed.

Sports Clinic

The sports clinic treats both minor and major injuries.

OB/GYN (for pregnancy)

Pregnancy well visits are done by the OB/GYN. The doctor will give your sim updates on the development of their baby. They can also diagnose and prescribe treatment for any pregnancy complications. Your sim will receive notifications when it is time to schedule their prenatal appointments.

Hospital Visits

If your sim has the misfortune of needing a Tonsillectomy, Appendectomy, Anemic-induced Blood Transfusion, Labor Induction, Postpartum Hemorrhage, Heart Attack, Aneurysm, or Surgery due to a major Injury or Kidney Transplant, the option to go to the hospital will be available for these procedures. After going through a procedure, Sims will need to stay in the hospital for two days for postsurgical recovery (Patreon only).

Health Insurance

There's an option in the Healthcare Services phone menu to choose and review insurance plans.

When you load the mod in a household where at least one sim has a career, the family will have health insurance. What kind depends as there are four insurance plans. Sims can also opt out of insurance and choose to pay their bills. Sims who lose their job have 36 hours to find a new one before they lose their coverage. When sims join a new job they will get the best insurance available to their household.

Free Universal Insurance  Universal Healthcare Insurance will cover all medical expenses, with the exception of medications on which there is a small discount. This health insurance will not expire when a sim looses their job. It can only be removed by opting out of insurance or choosing another plan.

Basic Insurance  This will be a good insurance but not the best. All careers who do not automatically get the other insurances will have basic insurance, including freelancers and business owners. You can stick with your basic insurance or you can upgrade to premium insurance.

Premium Insurance  So-called white collar jobs will start off with this insurance. Those with basic insurance can upgrade to premium insurance. Those with premium insurance can save some money by downgrading to basic insurance. Premium insurance costs more but appointments and hospital visits cost less as do medications.

Automatic Premium Insurance Careers: Doctor, Lawyer, Business, Salaryperson, Education

Public Servant/Government Insurance  Like in life, government workers get separate and generally good insurance rates (better than basic and premium) but you have to work in one of those jobs, you can't opt into it. This insurance offers the best rates on appointments, hospital costs, and medications.

Government Insurance Careers: Military, Activist, Secret Agent, Detective, Astronaut, Civil Designer

**Compatibility***

The mod does NOT conflict with Private Practice or SOL. Healthcare Redux is compatible with my GTW Health Overhaul but if they are both installed, HCR will take over for all addon modules. You cannot mix and match modules. I might rethink that in the future but that's what makes the most sense right now.

NOTE:  There is a 40% chance Adults and Elder will be vaccinated already (based on the idea they were vaccinated as children) and a 20% chance Toddlers-Young Adults were already vaccinated. I want Sims to have diseases, even ones that are contagious, but spreading their diseases isn't that important to me since I don't tend to rotate. If it's important to you, other mods have much higher levels of contagion and non-playable sims will get sick much more often than will happen in this mod. Also NPC like the mailman should be immune to all diseases. I didn't need the mailman catching or spreading tuberculosis...

4. Download Mod (Modular System). Download the CORE file and script. Download any modules you want in your game (see modules descriptions below).

5. If you want all deaths disabled for all sims (as opposed to using the in-game cheats to disable it for specific sims or households) and use the Mod Deaths Global Disabler package, it MUST be placed directly in your Mods folder without any subfolders. If you do want your sims to die, REMOVE the file. 

Modular System

Healthcare Redux is modular. You may pick and choose the systems from the mod that you want. Don't want the new illnesses? Don't download them! Want pregnancy complications only? Download the Pregnancy module. This was a big undertaking but from now on it should not only allow you to customize your saves and experiences but will also help me with updating and maintaining the system.

The system is split into separate parts. You can pick and choose which features you want from the mod. Choose all or one.

Core - All parts of the mod needs the core. It is required for the rest of the mod to work

Allergies - If you want your sim to be able to develop allergies.

Conditions - If you want your sim to be able to develop chronic conditions.

Disease - If you want all of the new illnesses from this mod, you must install this module.

Death Disabler - If you do not want your active sims to die from their diseases, you can install this optional package. If you want your sims to be able to die, leave this out.

Injuries - If you want your sim to be able to get mild and serious injuries.

Pregnancy - If you want your sim to be able to attend prenatal and postpartum care, develop pregnancy complications, and have a realistic postpartum.

Medical Emergencies - Appendicitis, Aneurysms, Car Accident, Plane Crash, Choking, Kidney Failure, and Heart Attacks are now all covered under medical emergencies.

Troubleshooting Instructions

1. If you are using the mod and can't access options, clear your cache and make sure you have the updated general pie menus. If you are looking for cheats, they are under the Action menu.  

2. If you get BE UI errors, you are missing the general pie menus and/or the Mood Pack. They are REQUIRED.

3. If you choose to disable all deaths globally as opposed to using the in-game cheats on a household/sim level, and have the AllModDeathsDisabler package, it must be placed directly in your mods folder. If it is not, remove it.

4. If you are using the mod and get a game error or can't open your game, your download was most likely corrupted by your browser when downloading. You must do the following in order

Step 1: Delete all iterations of the download from your computer including downloads folder and mods folder

Step 2: Delete your browser cache

Step 3: Delete your game folder cache

Step 4: Delete your resource.cfg (it will be regenerated)

Step 5:Make sure if you use the AllModDeathsDisabler package it is in your Mods folder (not any subfolders). It cannot be placed within subfolders.

Step 6: Load up the game and try again.

Step 7: If that doesn't work, try downloading from a different browser or the alternate download link in the mod's description post after repeating steps 1-4

Step 10: Load up your game and try again.
