We are fans too and we know how important the incomparable live experience is. We strive to make sure your ticket buying experience is a good one so you can get into the show and have a great time. After the show, you can even let us know how we’re doing and let your voice be heard .

With many high-demand shows throughout the summer, it’s important for us to remind you about counterfeit tickets. We have heard heartbreaking and devastating stories from fans that didn’t make it into a big show and were turned away at the door with counterfeit tickets. We don’t want this to happen to you!

We have worked hard on our products to provide you more ticket options, but if you choose to look at buying tickets from other site or on a street corner near the concert venue, please take extra caution before you pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars to a stranger or unfamiliar website. Please consider the risk that your purchase could potentially involve counterfeit or fraudulent tickets. Since there is NO way to look at a ticket and determine if it is authentic, we recommend you buy from an authorized source. You may be able to spot a fake, but no one can look at a ticket and guarantee it is real just by looking at it.

When you purchase tickets, here are few things to consider to avoid purchasing counterfeit or fraudulent tickets:

  • Buy your tickets from official sources: the box office; the primary ticketer (like Ticketmaster); if it is a Live Nation show then LiveNation.com and the Live Nation mobile app; bands official fan clubs; and official resale marketplaces, such as NFL TicketExchange, NBATickets.com, NHL TicketExchange, and any ticket offered on Ticketmaster’s resale platform. This will ensure that your tickets will be authentic. Tickets may often be available all the way up to the start of the event.
  • If you look for tickets online, only use websites you know you can trust. Some nefarious brokers create websites to look like the box office or artist fan club and the URL can be so similar to the official sites that they make you feel like you’re purchasing directly from the source.
  • When it comes to buying resale tickets off of secondary ticketing websites, rest assured that all Tickets on Ticketmaster’s resale platforms are authentic. If you are looking elsewhere, you must make sure you’re dealing with a reputable business. Here are some things to look for:

• Transaction terms that are stated up front. Know how much you’re being charged up front before you purchase.

• A refund policy, but do know that a refund policy doesn’t guarantee you entry.

• Identification that they are a reseller, the website should state that the tickets they are selling are being resold, or in other words, they are not part of the initial on-sale to the general public.

• Specifics on tickets, which include shipping terms and availability dates. For example, if the reseller has tickets in-hand or if they are speculative tickets. Speculative or “spec” ticket postings are when resellers advertise tickets they don’t actually have. If an event has not gone on sale yet to the general public, but seats are already being sold, that is a good indication that they are “spec “tickets. They do this so they have the greatest flexibility to find tickets to deliver to the buyer.

• Reissued tickets with new barcodes.

Cover the code! We cannot express this point enough, please do NOT take photos of your ticket stubs and post them on social media sites . This is the perfect way for nefarious brokers to rip these tickets right off you. We want you to enjoy this experience, it’s meant for you. So please take the extra precautions so you can enjoy the night and avoid heartache. Read more about #CoverTheCode

Keep Your Concert Tickets Safe With These Expert-Approved Scam Spotting Tips

Don't let scammers ruin that Taylor Swift concert you bought tickets to. Here's how to outsmart them.

fake tour dates

Ticket scams are no joke. No one wants to spend hundreds of dollars to see their favorite artist, only to get to the concert arena and realize the tickets they bought were fake.

The Better Business Bureau received 16,884 total complaints regarding event ticket sales -- that includes concerts and sporting events -- from January 2022 through February 2023.

The repercussions of a concert or game-day scam go beyond simply missing the event. If you pay for a phony ticket with your credit card, you could be compromising your personal information and putting yourself at risk of identity theft. "You're out your money, you're out your personal information, and now you can't go to the show," Melanie McGovern, director of PR and social media at BBB, said.

Luckily, there are ways to prevent scams from raining on your baseball game or Taylor Swift concert. McGovern walked me through the essential tips for spotting scams and what you should do if you bought a fraudulent ticket.

For more ticket advice, here's how you can buy concert tickets on TikTok .

Stop and think

Whenever a widely regarded artist comes to town or there's loads of hype over a sports game, fans race to snag the best seats for the event as quickly as they can. To take advantage of fan interest, fake websites for buying tickets or fake listings will pop up on secondary ticket sites to prey on the desperate customers.

"There's so much emotion involved in buying tickets for something that you love that people just don't think [when they're purchasing]," McGovern said. That leads them to throwing logic out the window and jumping at the first offer they see. The first thing you should do when buying tickets is stop and think logically about what and who you're buying from.

How to find legitimate concert or game tickets

When in doubt, always head to the official venue site for tickets. If you end up searching for tickets to a game in your city, McGovern recommends avoiding any sponsored ticket listings that pop up at the top of the page and, instead, scrolling until you find an official ticket broker or venue site. Sponsored ticket listings are more likely to be fraudulent, she says. Check the name of the website for any minor misspellings, too. Frauds can create lookalike sites with one or two misspellings to try and trick you into buying from them instead of official and secure websites.

What about tickets on the resale market?

Let's say the tickets on the venue's website are all sold out and you resort to the resale market. There are still a few ways to avoid getting duped by scams.

To see if the ticket broker is legitimate, look up the seller on the Better Business Bureau's website and the National Association of Ticket Brokers member directory . Ticket sellers should have a customer protection policy, be registered with the NATB or both, the BBB said . If your seller isn't, consider it a red flag and find somebody else.

While perusing ticket options on secondary sites, have the seating chart of the venue open in another window, McGovern recommended. The "biggest telltale sign" you're getting scammed is if the seats you are being sold don't match up with the venue's seats and rows, McGovern said.

How to make sure the tickets you bought aren't fake

Many venues primarily use digital tickets now, which can make it easier to get scammed with counterfeit ticket PDFs. To ensure that the tickets are real if you bought them from someone else, it doesn't hurt to visit the venue a few days before the concert to ensure to check. Also check the format in which the venue accepts and scans tickets. If someone sold you a paper copy of a ticket but the venue exclusively accepts digital tickets, you just got scammed.

Immediate concert and game-day ticket red flags

If the deal is too good to be true, most of the time it likely is. If someone is selling Beyoncé Renaissance tickets for half the retail price or Super Bowl tickets for $100, that's cause for concern. If someone is using a sob story to advertise their tickets, it may be a scam as well. McGovern said that online scams all "have the same MO of tugging at your heartstrings and getting you to act quickly without thinking."

How can I protect myself?

Beyond all the aforementioned tips and red flags to look out for, McGovern recommends always buying tickets with a credit card, instead of less secure forms of payment (like peer-to-peer payment apps). "If you're buying a ticket from a person online and they're asking you for a peer-to-peer payment app, there's a good chance you're not gonna get that money back," she said.

Don’t get scammed when buying tickets online

With hot-ticket events firmly back on the agenda, scammers selling fake tickets online have also come out in force

Don’t get scammed when buying tickets online

As the events scene slowly came back to life in 2022, the clamor for tickets to festivals and gigs surged massively. Many festivals around the UK sold out within hours, and as a result people were tempted to take to secondary marketplaces and social networks to find resale tickets. Unfortunately, this created the ideal breeding ground for fraud and theft.

With fans becoming increasingly desperate to get their hands on a hot ticket, this is a lucrative opportunity for scammers. A Google search, made at the start of the summer, for tickets to major 2022 festivals led to a number of highly questionable links. The ads promising the much sought-after tickets could be considered the first step on the journey, where the con artist tries to cajole the victim into clicking on the ad that will redirect to a fraudulent marketplace. But these are often obvious or have over-the-top prices.

Research shows that the prevalence of scams has increased by over a fifth year-on-year. They have also become increasingly sophisticated in their attempts to fool even the most clued-up consumers. Several thousand people are thought to be victims of ticket fraud each and every year in the UK, with total losses in 2019 hitting around £1.6 million according to Action Fraud in the UK . However, the extent of fake ticket scams is likely much greater as many victims are too embarrassed to admit their mistake.

Unfortunately, the trend for tickets to be electronic rather than paper has only aggravated the problem. The bad guys can now sell the same ticket multiple times on different online platforms without suspicion and quickly evade capture by pulling the plug on their fake accounts.

In fact, not only could someone just copy the barcode and go to the event with a printout, or a photo on their phone, the only time the victims would realize they have been scammed is when they arrive at the venue and, should they not be the first one in, the ticket won’t work.

A one-way ticket to losing money

I did a quick search for tickets on eBay and Facebook Marketplace and found many examples of tickets with the barcode or barcode number clearly visible. When printed tickets with a QR/barcode on them act as the ticket to enter an event, it makes sense to never photograph the ticket and post it online as proof of the ticket’s existence.

READ NEXT: Think before you scan: How fraudsters can exploit QR codes to steal money

Many people believe that just scribbling or placing a line through the number or the QR/barcode is enough to ward off scammers. Far from it. It’s actually incredibly easy to recreate the code or the number with the other one on show and produce a copy. There are even apps and online services that can turn a barcode into the corresponding number and vice versa.

Below is a sample of reproduced images of tickets to past events, as spotted on Facebook Marketplace and eBay.

fake tour dates

This scam works very well for criminals online and it would be hard to locate them if they were using available tools to hide online, making investigation difficult. This problem effectively lies with awareness for both seller and buyer, and more should be done to help promote a safe and secure marketplace for tickets.

It may be difficult to ban uploads of this kind on these sites but a simple option would be to see Facebook and eBay blur out barcodes, QR codes, and corresponding numbers if anyone uploads an image of a ticket for proof of purchase.

Presumably, software similar to what Google uses to blur out number plates and faces on Google Maps’s Street View could be used. This would, by default, protect the seller from having the ticket duplicated, which would push scammers off the sites.

Don’t get taken for a ride

The best advice remains to do your research on the vendor you’re purchasing from, and try to avoid online marketplaces, especially for extremely popular gigs, festivals or events. Pay attention to all terms of service, shipping, and return policies. Criminals are experts at impersonating and manipulating people , so ensure you verify that sellers are who they say they are – and don’t be too eager to part with your cash, however excited you may be for those once-in-a-lifetime tickets.

The future?

Barcodes are old technology but still play a vital role in our daily lives, even helping shops and supermarkets do their daily operations efficiently and monitor and follow products around warehouses.

The future of barcodes and QR codes is about to look quite differently, though – the codes may even become invisible. Barcodes can get damaged, which may impair their functionality, but invisible barcodes (printed on the packaging using ultraviolet ink that is only visible when you point a specialized scanner towards them) could be placed multiple times all over packaging. This means that retailers could use advanced technology to scan a product and know its price or location much quicker with less room for error.

Barcodes and QR codes also increasingly come with encryption and are instantly authenticated, making it possible to recognize codes that have been replicated and enforce better protection. When sophisticated counterfeiters threaten to forge all types of products, encrypted barcodes could be an effective solution. Furthermore, we may also see barcodes added to the blockchain , which would add another level of security to the current issues of duplicated codes and possibly eradicate the problem of fake tickets or those sold multiple times.

A fake concert ticket as a gift is a smart choice. Generally, concert tickets are expensive and often in high demand. So, people will appreciate it if you make fake concert tickets and gift them out. Also, you might need a fake concert ticket to keep as a souvenir after attending a memorable event. They may seem hard to make, but anyone can create concert tickets for f loor seats, balconies, general admission (GA), reserved seating, VIP tickets, and box seats. You just need the right templates, which this post will offer you.

How to Make Fake Concert Tickets

The reason for this guide is to help you make a fake concert for a gift or keep one as a souvenir. That said, below are the steps to make fake concert tickets look real.

1. Determine the Concert to Create

First, determine the concert you need so that you can select the right template. Concerts can include choral music, chamber concerts, chamber orchestras, children’s concerts, operas, recitals, symphony orchestras, etc.

2. Visit a Fake Concert Ticket Generator Tool

Experts normally use Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop to make fake concert tickets. However, for someone with no skills, I have many options for you. I have also explained the steps to use for each option to get a fake ticket for any concert.

3. Customize the Concert Templates

I have recommended the best maker to use for fake concert tickets below. When you access the tool, you just have to select a suitable template, fill it out, and save it. Alternatively, you can buy fake concert ticket templates or fake concert tickets online. Included in the recommendations are sites where you can have concert tickets shipped to your home.

Look for templates with a basic design and layout similar to the specific ticket, and then modify the name of the concert, the date and time, the venue, and the seat information. You can add more details, such as the names of the performers and the barcode, to make the ticket look real.

4. Print the Copies

If you buy just the fake concert templates, you need to print them with the special paper used for event tickets. Print the fake tickets after the ticket templates have been modified and cross-checked. You need a high-quality printer and high-quality paper to make the tickets look real. You can try adding holograms or other security features found on the original. If you cannot print the tickets to look real, then you should use a site that offers full production and shipping services.

Now, let’s get into the best concert ticket maker you need. I have covered the various ones tested for this tutorial.

  • After customizing the graphical elements on the fake concert ticket, edit the text details on the template. Make sure the text is easy to read and contains all the necessary information about the concert.

Once satisfied with your design, save it in your preferred format, such as PNG, JPEG, or PDF. If you prefer physical tickets, you can print them yourself or use Canva Print to have them printed and delivered to your doorstep in high quality.

You can download, view, or share the concert tickets on any device.

4. Placid Free Event Ticket Generator

So, I also used the Placid tool to generate downloadable fake concert tickets for a keepsake. One can even mistake it for an original ticket; they look real. Here are the simple steps I followed:

  • Visit the Placid editor page and select one of the available ticket designs on the Placid website. You can choose a design that is minimal and stylish or one that is vibrant and cheerful, depending on your event’s theme.

Note that Placid ticket is not free. So, make sure to review the pricing. If you are okay with the pricing, proceed to place your order. You can buy tickets starting at $5.00 per ticket; the price decreases as you order more concert tickets. If you need the concert ticket shipped, you will have to pay up to $5 for 1–50 tickets with tracked USPS.

6. Etsy Fake Concert Ticket

You cannot generate a fake concert ticket on Etsy; however, you can buy templates from sellers. Just look for concert templates on Etsy; I have provided a direct link below. Once you find the best template, add it to the cart. Look for a concert ticket that contains fields for details such as the artist’s name, date, time, and venue. You should also be able to add images or logos related to the concert or artist.

Most Etsy sellers only sell editable and printable digital copies of fake concert tickets sent to your email address. You will be able to modify the text, fonts, colors, and other design elements to suit the theme of the concert. The templates cost between $3 and $6. It can be more, depending on the quantity and quality.

If you prefer a ready-made and printed fake concert ticket to gift someone, you can discuss this option with the seller. On a listing page, select Message Seller under the listing title. Sign in to your  Etsy account if you aren’t already, or create an account to contact the seller.

7. Templatables Editable Concert Ticket Template

Templatables is the go-to place if you need to create editable concert tickets that can be personalized as a unique gift for special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries. Just select a template and edit the text and colors for the specific concert, theatre show, or musical. You can add the recipient’s name, a personalized message, and the occasion to the ticket. Available mostly to UK residents.

  • Go to Templatables and select the concert ticket template. The template is available for £2.99.
  • Complete the purchase to gain access to the editable template.
  • Start customizing it. Edit the text fields to add the recipient’s name, a personalized message, and the occasion. You can also modify the colors to suit the theme of the event or the recipient’s preference.
  • Before printing, review all the details for accuracy. Check for any spelling or grammatical errors and confirm that all the information is correct.

When done, you can print the ticket. Make sure to use high-quality paper for the best results. I have explained the type of paper to use to make fake concert tickets.

What Type of Paper Are Concert Tickets Printed on?

Usually, concert tickets are printed on heavy card stock paper, which is also called cover stock. This kind of paper is strong and made to last, which is important for tickets that might be passed around or kept for a while before the event. Concert tickets can be made of paper with a matte or glossy finish. Some tickets may also have security features like holograms, watermarks, or special inks to stop them from being faked.

2024 NFL draft in Detroit is prime time for scammers hawking fake tickets: What to know

fake tour dates

All you need to know about scammers during the NFL draft this week in Detroit is: They've got a nose for the ball.

Thousands of football fans are likely to suddenly realize that they don't want to miss out on a chance of a lifetime to go to the 2024 draft in Detroit on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. And many are going to start hunting online for tickets at the last minute.

“Unsuspecting fans could pay money for a ticket that was otherwise free or spend hundreds, or even thousands, on what turns out to be a phony screenshot of a ticket that doesn't exist or has previously been sold,” according to an alert issued by Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.

Getting into the NFL Draft Experience is free, even with kids

It's free to get into the NFL Draft Experience. You'd register for free entry by downloading the NFL OnePass app or going to NFL.com/DraftAccess. Adults can register up to five children to get into the event. And yes, you can still register. The NFL draft 2024 website notes that fans without a smart phone will be able to register on site via the NFL's fan services staff.

You'd use the same QR code during all three days. But it's important to understand that the event is "first come first serve and subject to capacity limits," according to the NFL.

The NFL OnePass, for example, will get you access to the Corner Ballpark as part of the festivities in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood on Thursday, Friday and Saturday where there will be screens to watch the NFL draft on NFL Network. The Corner Ballpark serves as hub for youth activities during the draft, and the old historic Tiger Stadium site will offer an extension of activities a few miles away at Hart Plaza and Campus Martius Park.

Paying for premium seating already sold out will cost you big-time

The NFL OnePass QR code will not get you seating in the draft theater where football prospects will be selected to their new teams. Official premium draft ticket packages for the 2024 NFL draft are sold out, according to the On Location site linked via NFL.com/draft on Monday morning.

And tickets for the Detroit Lions Loyal Member Exclusive Draft Party on Thursday, which were priced at $25 a ticket, are sold out, too. The event wasn't open to the general public. It is not affiliated with the "NFL Draft presented by Bud Light" and does not offer access to the NFL draft event at Hart Plaza and Campus Martius Park. (A big draw might have been that parking was available for $40 per spot with purchase of these member-only tickets.)

Given that we're late in the game here when it comes to tickets — and that premium NFL draft tickets are sold out via the official site — you can bet that scammers will craft ways to rip off consumers, as they did with Taylor Swift tickets in the summer and Detroit Lions playoffs tickets in January.

Michigan's Nessel warns that bad actors often use a variety of tactics, including asking potential victims to send money through a payment or money app.

Run, don't walk, away from ticket sellers who want your money via Apple Pay, Cash App, Circle Pay, Facebook Payments, Google Pay, PayPal, Square Cash, Zelle, and Venmo. The same is true if a seller asks you to pay them with gift cards or go to a Bitcoin ATM.

You'll lose your money instantly once it's transferred electronically, and you won't get any tickets.

Unfortunately, social media platforms make it even easier for con artists to connect with eager fans.

"You can never be too safe when it comes to where and who you’re buying tickets from," according to a warning about scams posted on Ticketmaster blog.

These days, the blog noted, fans can "experience the letdown of arriving at an event, only to find out their tickets are counterfeit, whether they purchased them from someone claiming to have legitimate tickets for sale on social media or third-party sites or unofficial marketplaces like Craigslist."

It's essential to be skeptical about buying tickets from individual sellers, social media, third-party online exchanges, auction sites or bulletin boards.

When ticket demand is hot, as it could be with a much-hyped event like the NFL draft, the potential losses to scammers could be significant — especially when you consider previous ticket scams.

A Troy resident, for example, reported on March 29 that he bought concert tickets from someone selling the tickets via a Facebook group. He paid $800 via Zelle for two tickets. "When he did not receive the tickets," the Troy police report noted, "the victim contacted the seller and was told he needed to pay an additional $100 per ticket to have the names changed" on the tickets.

The man didn't pay another $200.

Instead, the man then asked for his money back, telling the seller he no longer wanted the tickets. "The victim later discovered the supposed seller’s Facebook account had been hacked and the ticket sale had been a scam," according to the police report.

Ticket scams, in general, tend to trigger a median loss of $268, based on Better Business Bureau Scam Tracker reports from January 2021 through March 2024. The losses involved 451 reports from consumers in the United States and Canada about event ticket scams during that time. Not all scams are reported, though, so the dollars lost could be higher.

As of late March, many tickets for some premium packages for NFL draft events were already sold out but others were available then. Some legitimate premium packages that were available in late March had started $550 a person and others started at $950 a person.

When it comes to free tickets, some people might get caught if they try to snag tickets for specific time slots or events, as happened during the 2021 NFL draft in Cleveland.

"Even though passes to the NFL Draft Experience were free, tickets for many of the time slots went quickly and then people tried to scalp tickets or, worse, sell counterfeit tickets," recalled Teresa Murray, who lives in Cleveland and directs the Consumer Watchdog office for U.S. PIRG, a nonprofit advocacy group.

Ticket scams, of course, aren't the only way consumers can be ripped off.

It's also wise to be on the lookout for fake merchandise during the NFL draft in Detroit, such as counterfeit jerseys, hats and other gear. Look carefully at the stitching and lettering. Are the numbers laying flat or bubbling? Fake merchandise will not have holograms that one associates with NFL merchandise. Country of origin labels can have misspelled words.

When it comes to ticket scams, consider these tips:

Do your research before you buy an NFL draft ticket

If you are unfamiliar with a particular ticket vendor, Nessel's alert noted, you can call the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division at 877-765-8388 and ask about complaints on file regarding that seller. Also take time to look for complaints elsewhere online, including the Better Business Bureau national web site.

"Remember, however, that the absence of filed complaints does not guarantee a seller's legitimacy; it simply means that we have not received any complaints concerning the vendor," the Michigan Attorney General warns.

Don't believe everything you see on the web

Remember, anyone can set up a "spoof" website with a web address that is similar to the legitimate ticket seller's address, Nessel warned. These "spoof" websites may offer consumers overpriced or counterfeit tickets and expose them to identity theft.

And here's a big penalty flag

Fans must take a step back and seriously question stories about sudden availability or prices that are too good to be true. And if it looks like someone you know is selling tickets via Facebook or another platform, reach out in another way to confirm that the seller is the real deal.

Recent tour reviews

He was wonderful. His own bpm was higher than his music's :) his sound was surprising with unusual beats, he escalated the music so nicely that at the end it sounded so different than the beginning. His musical journeys are so good to explore and participate in.

Norfolk native Nathan Fake (yes, that’s his real name!) set the chill-out world alight back in 2006 with his debut, the beautifully haunting, synth-drenched Drowning in a Sea of Love. Comparable to the upliftingly blissful, intricately mechanical sounds of Jon Hopkins, Fake’s music was destined for good-quality headphones and a long summer evenings. His next electronica offering, Hard Islands, took a different approach, with its tough, busy and acidic-grinding loops and made-for-the-club breakbeats and grooves. Nathan Fake isn’t all about the production and the technicalities though, with nationwide tours and a cracking live show to boot. When I saw the young dub sensation at London’s Corsica Studios, a venue known for showcasing hot new talent in the world of dubstep and D&B, it was an awesome night. The small main room of the venue was full to bursting by the time 1am rolled around and the boy wonder appeared, and happily, everyone was in the mood to sway, sing, and dance like a crazy person. Fake’s fuzzy, soundscape-y songs such as ‘Narrier’ and ‘The Turtle’ translate well to a live setting, as with the more classically warehouse-rave appropriate tunes like the bass-exploding ‘Fentinger’ and the crowd-pleasing opener, ‘Basic Mountain’. A dazzling show from a true talent, go see Nathan Fake if you get the chance!

Without an onward ticket, a traveler may be refused entry to these countries and subsequently placed on the next plane. Wikipedia

  • Don’t choose flight ticket back to your country, this can cause suspicion in the migration service.
  • Don’t choose an airline similar to the airline of arrival in the country. Checking your ticket will be much easier.
