Our guide Steve was informative, friendly and enthusiastic! His sense of humor not only kept us amused but also our teenagers! Steve shared his knowledge of the area with us which for a kiwi who has been living here for 4years and prior 8years in Tanzania was well informed. I throughly enjoyed the places we visited. I loved the walks and views. On our Daintree River cruise we were lucky enough to see Scooter the croc resting on the bank. Swimming in the crystal clear rainforest stream was refreshing and fun! Stopping on the way home at the Daintree Ice Cream factory was a treat the ice cream is delicious!! I highly recommend Tony's!!

My wife and I had a great time today. It all started with our guide, Steve, who was friendly, informative and fun to have as our tour leader from the beginning to the end of the day. He embodies enthusiasm and knowledge and it all makes for a great connection with the tour guests. The itinerary took us through captivating rainforests, beautiful beaches, crocodile sightings, and a view of many rain forest plants and flowers. Definitely recommend Tony's tropical tours as a five star experience and our thanks to Steve for making our day great.

This review is long overdue, as my family went on a private tour of the Daintree with Tony's Tropical Tours in the summer of 2015. We were really looking forward to this tour, and it would have been fantastic, except the forced humor really put a damper on the day. I can't remember our guide's name, but it seemed as though he had been instructed to be funny, and apparently our sense of humor is not the same as an Australian's (or at least his). He made quite a few somewhat insulting remarks throughout the day, and by the end we were really feeling put upon. Two examples that stand out -- we had a lovely lunch, then he directed us how to hike to a place where we could see a beautiful body of water while he cleaned up. He met us there and then guided us back to the parking area. The way back was much shorter than the way there, and I laughed and jokingly said "Hey you made us go the long way to get there!" He responded sarcastically, "Well, when I saw how much you guys ate, I figured you needed the exercise." On another occasion, my mother mentioned to the guide something about one of my daughter's past activities in school. It was a bit of a story, and probably took her a full 2 minutes to tell it. He turned to my daughter and said, "Shanna, no offense, but I see so many people on these tours I'm not even going to remember you in a week, so it doesn't really matter what you did in school. Let's stay on topic and let me do the talking, okay?" The only reason I can think he directed this comment at my daughter (since she hadn't said a word) was because he was reluctant to be so rude to a senior citizen (my mother). It was obvious he was telling her to shut up, and this comment was completely unnecessary and condescending, even though it was said in a tone of voice that I assume was supposed to be funny. These are only the two examples that stood out; the day was littered with little "jokes" that weren't the slightest bit funny. We loved the sights and spending the day in the rainforest, but we would have much preferred for our guide to simply tell us about what we were seeing rather than making all these attempts at forced humor. I do think it may have something to do with what is considered humorous in Australia, but where I'm from, insulting other people, even when done in "jest," is not considered particularly funny. I probably wouldn't choose this company again for this reason.

Dave took us to Daintree Rain Forest---and his enthusiasm was contagious! He pointed out things we never would have seen, shared his deep knowledge about the rainforest, and even gave me photo tips. When you're as far from home as we were, and unlikely to be returning anytime soon, you want to make your outings count. Dave, and Tony's Tropical Tours, made our day about as memorable as days get. Thank you!

"Absolutely brilliant - best tour ever"

We did the Cape Tribulation, Daintree and Mossman Gorge Tour today. This tour is 100% fabulous and definitely a 10/10 experience. We were very time poor in our available time in Port Douglas and the tour exceeded our expectations in every way. We were picked up at our accommodation and dropped back at the end of the day. Our tour guide Steve was a walking / talking encyclopaedia of knowledge and facts and such a great ambassador for the local area. He made the day for us by being able to answer all our questions and is so patient and understanding with all the guests. This tour showed us so much in one day and was just absolutely amazingly spectacular. Book this tour company and you won’t be disappointed and you walk away at the end of the day 150% satisfied.

“What a fantastic day. Everything went to plan and Randall our guide took great care of our group of 10 and shared his good knowledge on the areas we visited. He has a great eye to find insects and animals that we all walked by without seeing. The day is well paced and we never felt rushed or that we were waiting to get moving. So thrilled to see a crocodile and 2 cassowaries as well! Swimming in a glorious private water hole and eating delicious Daintree native ice creams were also highlights. Highly recommend the tour.”

“We had such an amazing day on this tour! We really loved how it was a small group size and that we got to visit so many amazing places but not feel rushed.

Being able to visit a private site away from other tour groups was very special and it allowed us to feel as though we were really experiencing the magic of the Daintree.

Steve was an excellent tour guide and we were just blown away with his knowledge and passion.

I also appreciated how cautious he was when handling food allergies and intolerance and I really appreciate how the tour company made sure every person had something yummy to eat. I would 100% recommend this tour!”

“What an incredible day! We had already travelled to the Daintree and Cape Tribulation the day before with our hire car. I can confirm the experience was far better on this tour with Emily as our guide than doing it on our own.

Emily was friendly and very knowledgeable. We appreciated her relaxed nature and ability to keep the day light hearted and enjoyable for all involved. The scenery and knowledge we gained about the area was fantastic.

I want to particularly express my gratitude for accomodating our dietary requirements. The food was absolutely delicious and it was great to be included and not made to feel like our requirements were an inconvenience.

Mossman Gorge, Noah Valley and Alexandra Lookout- just spectacular. Unable to pinpoint a highlight the whole tour was great.

This tour gave us a deep appreciation for the entire ecosystem; rainforest and the reef. We enjoyed the stop to the ice cream shop and perhaps non more so than me as they had multiple options for those with intolerances. The flavours were incredible, all seasonally based on what is grown on site. We both agreed the tour was well worth the cost and we will be recommending it to our family and friends.

"Beautiful scenery and experience"

“The whole tour was excellent. Our tour guide Jens was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to find things of interest to point out to us. Unfortunately we did not get to see a cassowary despite his best efforts!

Lunch was delicious, in a lovely setting. As noted by a previous reviewer “If you have mobility issues keep in mind there are lots of steps and uneven ground”. What a beautiful part of our country – well worth the visit and so glad we did.”

“Our guide (Bjorne?) was very knowledgeable, friendly and super engaging!

The scenery was amazing and the day was so enjoyable. The gorge was beautiful, our croc tour even had a dog guide! Toilet stops a plenty.

Morning tea and lunch were delicious! We are low level fitness and although there was lots to see, we managed the terrain with ease. If you have mobility issues keep in mind there are lots of steps and uneven ground. Thank you for a wonderful experience!”

A stunning day out in the rainforest

We went out with Richard, who had only been in the job 3 weeks, but you wouldn’t have known it, on account of the incredible wealth of knowledge and passion he brought with him: about the rainforest, the flora and fauna; natural history; social history; indigenous history and culture; current issues affecting the rainforest and the region. It was a real joy to listen and learn. And we saw crocs, snakes, spiders, birds, stunning vegetation, glorious beaches. A fabulous day out. Don’t be tempted to drive yourself to save a few bob; if you can stretch to it, go with the experts. You won’t regret it.

He is quite passionate about all that is part of the Daintree Rainforest and takes great pride in giving outstanding service each time and I'm certain that he will be thrilled to receive your compliments.

The tour was fantastic and we all enjoyed it a lot (four adults and a teenager), despite the rain. Our guide Richard told us he was new to the tour and gave us a brief history of his career and why he had taken on the job. We found him to be very informative regardless of only being such a short time with the company and he had some very good information on the native animals and fauna and was clearly passionate about conservation and the environment. We also managed to spot 2 Cassowary birds which was very exciting. We all felt the tour was very good value for money, suitable for all ages and worth the time commitment.

I went on a day tour to the Daintree Rainforest. In spite of constant rain, it was one of the best days of my three-week stay in Australia. For that, I can thank our outstanding guide, Steve. Steve kept up an informative commentary during our drive and walks. He was a veritable encyclopedia, and communicated his love and knowledge of the area to all of us. The trip was beautifully designed to take in as much of the wonders of the rainforest and of Cape Tribulation in one short day. Our picnic lunch in the forest was a delightful interlude and my needs as a vegetarian were amply accounted for. The size of the tour (about 12 people) made it very manageable. I hope to return to the area again and won't hesitate to take another of Tony's tours.

Thanks for leaving us such a wonderful review. The Daintree Rainforest is a wonderful place to explore in the rain. Many guests do forget that they are booking a tour to the RAINforest so do expect some rain from time to time. The guides at Tony's Tropical Tours work extremely hard to offer the best possible tour and I am so pleased to hear that even in the rain Steve managed to deliver this. The itinerary has been put together to showcase the best that the Daintree has to offer with the limited time of a 9 hour day and again I am delighted that you have noted this. My husband and I had a wonderful day of exploration with our very knowledgeable and professional guide, Steve. The whole day was super organised and ran like clockwork. We spotted crocodiles and cassowaries as promised and learnt so much about rainforests and the Daintree. A super yummy lunch was also provided. Spent the day with Steve on Tony's Tropical Tours. Excellent commentary throughout the day - great mix of European and indigenous history with a good dose of "David Attenborough" facts and evolution time lines... We all learned something today! Food was great - morning tea (yummy muffins and good coffee) and lunch (great BBQ in lovely location). Several Cassowary (dads with chick/s) sightings topped off our day. Small size of tour ensured personal attention to questions and helped make it a very enjoyable day for the whole family. Thanks Tony & Steve!

Wow. This was a great tour. Highly recommended. Great small group size. Steve was a fantastic guide. Managed to see 3 crocodiles, a family of cassowaries feeding, snakes, birds, and heaps of info about the rainforest we walked through. Well worth the money.
